"Crosshair?"
Omega's voice was soft, making Cross's jaw clench. He tilted his head towards her, his eyes flickering down to her extended hand. Any words he was going to say died in his throat. After all that happened, what even was there to say?
"Are you okay?" Crosshair resisted the urge to scoff, instead turning away. How could he be okay? His family, his brothers, just tried to shoot him in the back. They would have killed him without so much as an after thought. That sent chills down his spine.
"Echo's removing the ship's tracker," The little one continued, despite his silence, "He said it will buy us more time before Tech could find us."
Tech's name sounded strange from her mouth, Omega sounded so unsure by all of this.
"Not much," His voice came out weak, barely audible as he leaned forward on his knees, curling into himself.
"But enough," This she sounded sure about.
"What do you want kid?" He snapped, turning to face her once again, his face contorted into his usually scowl.
"I just wanted to check on you, Echo's worried about you too." Crosshair huffed, Echo was always worried.
Omega's hand slowly extended out again, a look in her eyes that reminded him too much of Hunter. But instead of turning her away again, Crosshair reached out, finally intertwining his hand with hers.

You know...
Star Wars is... a tragedy. One of the reasons I despise the Sequels, is that the point of the Original Trilogy, is to absolve that tragedy, that despair, and turn it into Hope. It is called a New Hope for a karkin’ Reason.
So... let’s look at the Bad Batch.
There are two big tragedies. A Galactic one, and a Personal one.
The Galactic one is easy: The enslavement and mind control of the Clones. Yes yes, the Jedi, but the Jedi are not the Focus of the Bad Batch, and they’re already covered by name any saga.
And... What, did you think I meant the fall of the Republic? Sorry, the evils the Empire have do not just come out of nowhere, and they don’t just come from one evil space magic wizard man. The Republic, as a singular entity, was rotten. Only a handful of senators out of thousands with any sense? Or so much disregard for Clones, of which if anyone talked to one or thought for five minutes, would immediately realize that they’re people in the worst circumstance?
Thousands, millions, trillions of species of people, or Sentients, and not one group, one planet, one world gov, or one normal person ever gave a thought? Or passed a bill? Or gave any indication that clones would get rights if the war ended?
No, that’s millions of people thrown to the bloody wind of sacrifice. Only the Jedi ever gave a damn. Did anyone, honestly think, that after the “War ended” that had the Republic remained a Republic, that it would let the GAR go?
No, no they wouldn’t. Why spend the energy? They have a ready made army right there, with a planet that produces them and they can make them do whatever they want or else. Why spend the time and effort training natural born people?
[ spits ]
Yeah, the galactic tragedy are the Clones. I don’t give a toss about the damn Republic, it was just the Empire with the shackles on and waiting to throw them off and be a cruel as it wanted. It was very very eager to start bloody conquest, wasn’t it?
...
The Personal Tragedy... Is Crosshair.
Most of us already knew this, we knew it as soon as episode 1. Thing is, we’re privvy to info that in-universe doesn’t.
Crosshair was repeatedly sent to medical for that enhancement, constantly, in the first episodes. Nobody that would’ve cared about that, knew about it. Hell, it took the rest of the Batch mid-season to even figure out the Chips.
And wouldn’t it be so easy for the Imperials and the Scientists and the Admirals to tell Commander CT-9904 that:
“Oh no, all those medical procedures? Nah, that was us removing the chip! Cos you’re special, Commander, and you’re built unique, and it took several times to get all out, you see? You’re actions are just your natural qualities. This is Who you are! You are simply willing to do what needs to be done. Now be a good soldier and follow your orders.”
And nobody knew.
After all, the greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convince the world that he didn’t exist.
Nobody has figured it out.
... Yet, I hope.
