Related to the birds and capsaicin thing:

Do you know if birds feel an effect from horseradish/wasabi/mustard etc? I once tossed out a few of my wasabi peas to share with parkinglot-picking crowfolk but couldn’t stick around to see their reaction…

That I don't know, but it's an interesting question... I can't help imagining it making their heads do the poofy feather thing -- it certainly makes my scalp feel weird.

I spent two hours designing a map for my Fate campaign and so far I'm really happy with it.

#i have a couple really sexy river systems and a desert and a mountain range down the middle that becomes a peninsula off to the south west #i also coloured the map by vegetation cover and terrain which i think was really sexy of me to do #i need to add swamps though #there are a bunch of cities/towns and a few larger political divisions #it's supposed to be bronze age with an empire to the north of the mountains and scattered city-states to the south #the first city the characters see will be a relatively new one with a dragon as finance minister #it's also right at the base of a pass that would be extremely useful were it not occupied by several colonies of dragons #i think i should add other passes through the mountains but longer and with more difficult terrain #and even though this is late bronze age there'll still be hunter-gatherer societies scattered around #i think there'll be some limited amount of ironwork but only where dragons cooperate because their fire breath is hot enough #religion is going to be an eclectic mess with a few movements worshiping individual powerful dragons #the draconic finance minister regularly has to sniff out such groups in her city to tell them to stop #sapience will be a thing solely granted to humans and dragons and i think maybe crowfolk #the area will also be the native range of domestic cats which end up everywhere #i think i'll also invent crops for fun #catgirltxt

So I’ve been creating my fantasy RPG world, Ferlausen, for around... 3 years or so? And finally, after ages and ages and ages, I’ve decided to update the height chart for the most common intelligent species in the world! It’s been a long time coming.

The sixth is a crowfolk. They look like a very large, humanoid crow, with feathered arms and clawed hands instead of wings. They have a crow-like tail, a large sharp beak, and black eyes. They are 4′ 11″

The seventh is a hobgoblin. They have bright red skin, large pointed ears, and a small tuft of black hair down the center of their scalp. They have feet shaped like hands, with an opposable thumb. They are 5′ 4″

The eighth is a human. They are a black person with very short black hair and a somewhat muscular build. They are 5′ 7″

The ninth is an elf. They are an extremely thin, elongated humanoid with pale greenish skin and long dark green hair. They have extremely long and narrow pointed ears. They are 5′ 9″

The tenth is a catfolk. They are a bipedal, digitigrade cat with gray fur. They have dark grey stripes and their belly and inner parts of their thighs are white. They have a long, fluffy striped tail and claws. They are 5′ 10″

The eleventh is a dragonborn. They are a bipedal, digitigrade, reptilian individual with a long scaled snout and many sharp black horns extending from their head and face, as well as sharped curved black spines down their back. They have red scales, with yellow belly scales. They have claws, but do not have a tail. They are 6′ 2″

The twelfth is an orc. They are a humanoid individual with pale, bluish-gray skin and long black hair. They have a pair of white tusks protruding upwards from their mouth. They are fat and have a muscular build. They are 7′ 0″

The thirteenth is a giantkind. They are a large, dark-skinned humanoid with dark black hair worn in locs. They have a powerful, muscular build and brown eyes with no pupil. They are 8′ 8″
