when you first started shipping stony and why:

I remember coming into the mcu fandom after catws, so the first movie I actually saw steve and tony in together was aou - which, honestly, for all that can be said about that movie, it did give us some great stevetony moments! the scenes at clint’s farmhouse in particular stood out to me, and that’s what inspired me to write my first stevetony fic ever (which I will sneakily link here!)

why do you love steve rogers:

steve!! he was really the first mcu character that I fell in love with – he’s sweet and kind, but also fierce and brave, and he just has so much heart. like erskine said, he's a good man – but he’s also a good leader, a good friend, a good tactician, a good hero… he just has a lot of goodness in him.

plus, we get to see so many different sides to him (sweet and awkward steve, lost and depressed steve, competent badass steve, etc) which makes him extra fun to play around with!

three stony fics you read recently and why you enjoyed them:

annex 11 by soliloquent // @soliloquent-stark

this fic is so creative, so clever, and so well-written! it’s such a cool new take on the typical mission fic, being written in the form of a SHIELD report, and the dialogue (and miscommunication) between steve and tony is so true to their characters. it's short and sweet and such a fun read!

cliffhanger by sineala // @sineala

the suspense, the hurt/comfort, the absolute trust between steve and tony… this is so well-executed, the build-up of tension kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time! another short fic, but it really packs a punch!

powerless by mireille

I absolutely adore de-serumed steve fics, and this one has the perfect combination of feels and fluff! steve’s insecurity shines through so well, and so does tony’s thoughtfulness and worry and care as he tries to help him with the situation. I just love the comfort and tenderness between the two of them!

Okay, so, maybe Tony could’ve handled his whole ‘infatuation with Bucky’ situation a bit better. Still, he hadn’t expected his big reveal to completely fracture the wisps of a relationship they’d managed to forge. Tony hadn’t screamed his feelings from the rooftop or hired a whole damn marching band. What was one little airplane creating a couple letters in the air that spelled out ‘Bucky, go out with me?’ Bucky liked the sky, liked the clouds, and--Tony had hoped--liked somewhat attractive, slender geniuses.

But now, Bucky was standing next to him on the Tower rooftop, looking like he was about to cry.

Welp. Time for damage control. “Seems like the flyover made a mistake with its coordinates.”

When Bucky laughed, it carried with it a layer of wet emotion. “Mistakenly writing ‘Bucky’ and signing off with a ‘T’?”

“…yes? I mean, unless you, you know, like what the message says? But by the way you look, like you’re about to, well---What are about to do?”

“You’re incorrigible. Backtracking before I can even give you an answer.”

“Your face gave enough of an answer!”

Bucky wiped the back of his hand across his eyes and shook his hand. “Did you ever think maybe I’m emotional for a good reason, and not a bad one?”

“Um, no?”

“Incorrigible,” Bucky mumbled under his breath, even as a swelling of hope built inside Tony’s chest.

Maybe not so fractured after all. “So…?”

Bucky grinned, eyes shining with feeling. “I’d love to go out with you, Tony.”

Tony felt a smile of his own spreading across his face, wide with relief. “Of course, you would! Never doubted it.”

Hi, Stella. :) Happy New Year! How are you? I meant to ask you: did you get your car back after it was stolen? Your friend is correct. ;) I fell deep in a thiam-shaped hole in 2017 and still rebagel GIFs for them occasionally. I'm not reading much fic at the moment because I'm currently in a book phase, but I didn't know you'd written a thiam fic, and I will happily add your story to my AO3 marked for later. Thanks for the link. I appreciate your being brave about reccing your fic; I know a lot of us struggle with that, and I'm all for it. *hugs you and cheers you on* Things are hard on my end right now, but I'm hoping 2024 will be kinder to all of us. If it isn't, we'll just do the best we can, right? ♥️

15. What WIP are you taking into next year with you?

i don't have any currently posting, and i don't think i will before the end of the year, but i've been working on a steve/tony college friends with benefits au for a long, long time and it should definitely start posting next year! it has a summary, it has a title, and it has a fully developed outline. it also has 35k words written so far and 11 out of 22 chapters fully written

it'll probably start posting in january, but don't quote me on that lol

19. What’s one pairing you want to explore next year?

nothing new, i don't think, but this year was mostly steve/tony with a sprinkle of bucky/tony and steve/bucky/tony. next year, i'd love to revisit rhodey/tony and possibly sam/tony. it's been too long since i've done anything with either of those and i miss them

I just wanted to come and tell you that I LOVED your Jaime/Sansa fic; it was so so good and sent me off on a binge reading kick of Jaime/Sansa fic AND has me rewatching GOT 😂 you’re an incredible author and I really hope you write more for this pairing, but even if you don’t, I can’t wait to see what you do next 🥰

Oh my god I can’t even tell you how much I was smiling when I first read this, thank you so SO much! You’ll have to come let me know if there are any Jaime/Sansa crumbs in the show because it’s been way too long since I watched it and I’m not sure I can face a rewatch if I’m not guaranteed a little sliver of content 😂 This seriously means so much, thank you times a million!

WIP Wednesday

I haven't been able to work on my current WIP much this week, so here's a li'l something from the nanny AU I started a while ago instead!

“The novelty starts to wear off around the time they learn the word why,” his dad adds drily, a teasing eyebrow quirked. “You should have at least a year to enjoy before that, though.”

Stiles refuses to let his brain drift to thoughts of whether he’ll even be around in a year to see it. Not now, not when Derek’s smile is huge and warm and so full of unbridled love as he looks between his son and Stiles, not when Jake is babbling an impressively steady stream of dadadada, much to all of their delight.

In that moment, he simply decides – fuck it.

It’s absolutely true that none of this is real. But he’s going to enjoy every second of it that he can before it all blows up in his face.

The rest of his dad’s brief visit passes easily enough; Jake regaling them all with his new word while the rest of the conversation flows freely around it. Derek is polite, saying all the right things to make the Sheriff like him, regard him with a quiet sense of approval.

When it’s time for him to head off, his dad and Derek shake hands before he rubs an affectionate hand over the growing hair on Jake’s head. Stiles offers to walk with him to his car, and they chat amiably up until they reach his cruiser, at which point his dad cuts off with a frown, leaning against the closed door of the car and levelling Stiles with a look he hasn’t seen since he was a teenager.

“What?” Stiles asks, eyes wide and something like dread welling up inside him.

His dad doesn’t answer immediately. His gaze slides along the path they just travelled before pulling back to meet Stiles’ eyes. Stiles feels his heartbeat quicken as his dad narrows his eyes.

“You need to be careful here, Stiles,” he says.

Stiles does everything he can to not show a single visible sign of how those words affect him.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” he replies, forcing nonchalance.

“He’s married,” his dad presses on, as always too goddamn switched on. “He won’t feel the same way you do. And that’s not even getting into the fact that he’s your boss.”

“I don’t,” Stiles starts to deny.

“You need to get over your feelings,” his dad cuts over him, “and if you can’t do that – you need to quit.”

Stiles swallows thickly. Unconsciously, his eyes dart over to the blanket where Derek and Jake sit, Derek still with an utterly astonished look on his face as Jake repeats those two incredible syllables again and again and again. His dad’s face is kind, sympathetic, when he looks back to him, and Stiles nods once, stiff and quick.

“It’s just a crush,” he lies. “I’ll get over it.”

After a long moment, his dad nods in return. He pushes away from the car and tugs Stiles into a hug, one hand at the back of his head as he presses his lips lightly against Stiles’ temple.

“I’m just a phone call away if you ever need me,” his dad says, pulling away to look him right in the eye. “And I mean ever. You got that?”

Stiles smiles wanly. “It’s just a crush, dad. It’ll be fine.”

It's just as much of a lie for his own, stupid heart.

4. Do you have any OCs? Do you have a story for them?

within fanfics, not really. there's been a few as needed (like, as customers in a bakery au lol) but definitely no backstory for them in my head, and they don't reappear into other fics. their story begins and ends in their first two sentence appearance haha but outside of fanfics, definitely! i'm actually working on a book and praying i can finish it

14. Write and share the first sentence of a new fic. Just that.

It’s a bad idea right from the start.

24. Thoughts on flashbacks/flashforwards.

i think like everything in writing, they can be great when used well! i've never personally had an idea that suited them, but i'd definitely use them myself if i thought it fit the narrative. but, in a way, i guess an epilogue is like a flash forward? which, in that case, i'm almost always including one in a long fic. i enjoy that extra bit of the future and the closure that comes with it of like "yes, they're happy years later. their story continues always"
