#crux fleet
Note
The only reason that the Crux Fleet hasn't gone completely broke or filed for bankruptcy due to their boss's habit of throwing money at problems is because Mora-Grubber is the one balancing the books.
The crew thanks her for the fact that she is able to do this and keep their benefits which include a pension, healthcare, and other services.
The last time Ningguang tried to legislate something that would screw the fleet over, Mora-Grubber marched up to the Jade Chamber herself to strike it down.
She's given up trying to coerce her boss into using money more wisely (or simply talking things out and making it work with the disputing parties), but she is not above using the fact that she is the one holding this mess together to reel is back in a bit.
Oh 100%. Don't mess with the privateer pirate quartermaster, they're the one making sure there's food on the table. (We can call her "bookkeeper", whatever. That doesn't change the role.)
Headcanon: Farzaneh had a similar role on a Crux ship before she went private.

As I notice that you've taken a shine to my current bout of analysis, I will only add: It's funnier when you realize that Liyue and Inazuma respectively don't have standing navies and that they really couldn't do anything to her if she truly went batshit off the rails. Teyvat's economy would actually be brought to its knees due to the dangers of maritime shipping at that point.
Everyone should consider themselves lucky that the good captain wasn't a bit more ambitious, or we'd actually have a tyrant on our hands.
Can you tell that I think about worldbuilding and possible implications too much?
YOU ARE MY NEW BESTIE BECAUSE i have also considered the exact same thing - the only thing keeping the Crux Fleet under control is Beidou's personality and her authority.
And consider that she HAS made preparations for the fleet to run without her in command... Juza (I think) mentions this much. Or one of the crew on board the Alcor, if not him.
These fines and summons that Ningguang slaps on the fleet - their private motives aside, it's not a show and Beidou most certainly pays them if you ask me - it's a warning to Beidou's future successor that they'd best comply with the Qixing.
With no standing navy, the fleet is pretty much their best shot at having a navy from a national perspective too - the irony being that Liyue Harbour is most exposed to attack from the sea (well, their two disasters were all sea gods, but the point stands...), and the fleet is rarely in the harbour (?!).
(on a separate note - lack of a navy might also explain why Ningguang clearly did outfit the Jade Chamber for battle and positioned it to overlook the Sea of Clouds - what better way to assault an invading navy than dropping a bunch of ballista shots from high above?)
This is also why Ningguang and Beidou consistently insist the fleet has nothing to do with their agreements - the consequences of the Crux going insane in international waters and having their actions blamed on the Liyue Qixing will be diplomatically devastating, no? As protected as the harbour is by natural formations, they're not going to stand a chance if a bunch of pissed-off nations+Archons come after their asses.
Oligarchy is well aware that if Beidou, for some reason, loses control of the Crux Fleet, they could have an entire war on their hands and things could go south very quickly - hence their constant dance in public, wherein they both know the value of having the Crux Fleet on their side, but also wary of the risks involved if Beidou loses control.
Beidou mentions in her hangout that Ningguang trusts she and the traveler have the best intentions for Liyue Harbour at heart - Ningguang's advisors have already cautioned her against trusting Beidou - all this paints a picture that as of now, as long as Beidou is in charge, the fleet isn't a threat.
But the minute Beidou leaves the picture, you can expect the Qixing to immediately clamp down on Crux Fleet activity, at least until the new captain proves s/he is trustworthy.
Now there is of course the solution of Raiden Shogun slamming lightning down on the fleet and destroying half its capabilities before it even reaches Ritou, but the point still stands that maritime shipping would indeed be a danger at that point...
We also know the Crux Fleet isn't the sole shipping business out there, it's simply the most successful. Farzaneh runs her own in Sumeru and she was a former lieutenant with the fleet. Which is interesting if you think about it, Beidou likely has a network of transport contacts she can refer jobs to... but i go off-tangent again!!!

Here's a pretty sad/angsty thought
If the Crux Fleet ever sank, then Beidou will die for sure because the captain of the ship sinks with the ship, even if they have the chance to live.

Under The Same Moon.
Kaedehara Kazuha x GN! Reader.
Warnings- Slight Angst.
Tumblr media
Knowing Kazuha he is not the type to settle down in one place. Meeting him as you served as a crew mate on the Crux a romance blossomed between you two. You both bonded over your love of traveling and seeing the world. The feeling of seeing something new and unique for the first time.
So when Kazuha was ready to take his voyages elsewhere he of course told you.
“{Name},let us go on a new journey together. Now that the Shogun has lifted her rain of thunder let’s explore Inazuma for a time” Kazuha lovingly looked at you. You, of course, jumped at the idea of exploring Inazuma with Kazuha but the weight of your duties still rested on your shoulders. “Kazuha..as much as I would love to, you know I have to fulfill my duties as a crew mate. I’m sorry but I cannot come with you.”
Kazuha looked conflicted. While he wanted to reassure you and stay he also wanted to visit the land of his birth. Noticing the look on his face you placed a hand on his cheek. That seemed to draw his attention back to you, and so you gave him a smile. “Kazuha, my love, I know how much this trip means to you. I will not have you hold back on visiting your hometown because of me.While we may not be together for sometime we will always find our way back to each other” you assured him.
“Are you sure? {Name} I don’t mind-“ you quickly cut in, “Kazuha don’t worry about me. I’m sure of my decision.” With that the following day the ship arrived at the docs of Inazuma. You waved down at him with a heavy heart as he boarded off the ship. He returned it and sent you a sad smile.
As the ship set off again for your next voyage the gnawing feeling of loneliness set in your heart. But you knew this was only temporary. You looked up into the night sky and smiled contently, happy that you were under the same moon.
AN- This is my first post lmao. If u have any tips on getting better dm me it’ll b appreciated. Anyways have a good day

You know how people draw on each other’s casts and such? Imagine a younger Beidou who would occasionally let people draw on her eyepatch.
In unrelated news, I feel like members of the Crux (and Ningguang) would be very good at drawing left eyes, but horribly mess up the proportions of the right.

Venti is on the crux fleet as an NPC for anyone who wants to find him.
Listening to this conversation was the most fun I'd had with Venti's appearance as a whole. I just really enjoy Kazuha's dynamic with Venti they understand each other so well. A little too well I was shocked to hear Kazuha also gets forced to sit at the kids table on the ship. Poor short babies.

birthdays carry different connotations for different people. some find it an extravagant occasion, one for lavishness. others find it like an ordinary day, satisfied with a dinner in the evening or a cake with their name written in icing. few wish ill for the date, have wiped its significance from their minds. it is simply another step forward on their journey through life, nothing more.
beidou is indifferent about her own. it stirs memories of a childhood by the water, where she was blamed for her village’s decline, an adolescence as a deckhand for captains of the dirtiest mercenary ships, and early adulthood of belittlement, betrayal, and doubt.
now, she stands at the helm of her own ship with a sail created by her own hand, surrounded by a crew of her choosing, gathered for drinks under the moonlight to celebrate her day. her men doesn’t need an excuse to drink and be merry – it’s just better for them if they did.
she watches the stars, seated on the steps that lead to the helm, drink in hand. the crowd is sprawled across the deck, a cacophony of off-pitch sea shanties, laughter, and glass against glass. her smile is smothered by her hand, elbow propped on her knee. she’s about to take a swig when she realizes her glass is empty.
“do you need a refill?”
kazuha sits beside her with another bottle. he is the designated supervisor while drinks are out, as he is barred from drinking under any circumstances. no one else has fallen off the deck while intoxicated except for him, so it’s justified.
“thanks.” beidou snatches the bottle from him and takes a swig. they watch the crowd for a moment.
“don’t you want to join them?”
“nah. i gotta keep an eye out, just in case something happens.”
“you shouldn’t have to. it’s your birthday.”
she shrugs. “doesn’t matter. this is my ship and my crew, so i have to take care of them.” the ronin has been an interesting addition to their group of misfits. his poetics often fly over their heads, and his senses leave them all in shock. what surprises her more times than not is how open his heart is, even when they’ve been acquainted for mere months.
beidou sips her beer with thoughtful blinks at the sky. last year, they happened to be at home, so her crew collaborated with yun jin to write and produce an entire opera. this year, they have no such luck since they’re on the trail of an illegal mercenary ship, but despite the severity of the situation, her crewmates are experts at switching between serious and relaxed modes. quite a contrast between the celebrations, but that’s just life on the sea.
“the wind is calm and there isn’t a sign of life around us for miles. we’ll be safe.” kazuha gives her a smile, rising to his feet to return to the crowd. “please enjoy yourself, captain.”
he retreats. beidou takes another swig and watches him sit at the edge of the gathered circle, where sea drake recounts a time when they fought a flying fish monster. he’s a captivating storyteller, skilled with his words as well as the helm. she’s lucky to have him.
she’s lucky to have all of them. all are an integral part of her crew, a vital part of the ship. turnover is high, as the work is hard and the days away from home are long, but for those who have stayed for as long as they have, she’s fortunate to have them.
she’ll continue to do her best to let them shine and glow like the stars that protect them.

❛ i don't mind you watching him and realizing that he is very attractive, the only thing that i do mind is if people will think that they can touch him ❜ people better not get funny ideas of trying to do something inappropriate or else their hands will be chopped of.

in the morning, all the sunflowers will face east
chapter 3 of “let us journey together for a time”
summary: this seafaring adventurer knows when it is time to up-anchor and raise the sails, and how to keep his eyes set on the horizon.
My good friend’s cat has been kind enough to tag along whenever she wishes. I do not need to look down to know it is her tail that wraps around my ankle.
My footsteps echo her paws that crunch on the leaves on a sunny day and slosh in the soil on a rainy night.
We relish this shared silence. I hope that with my company, I can alleviate her loneliness somewhat.
But when I awake from my naps on sun-soaked rocks, I am greeted by her fur resting against my shoulder. The rise and fall of her small body. I gently press my ear to the Sapphire cat’s scruff. Her tiny figure vibrates ever so slightly as she purrs, and I take it as a sign that my wandering has meaning.
The maple leaf is shaped like a hand, and it is no coincidence. From the tree’s crown, holding me in its warmth, to the thunder catching up to me as I flee. I snatch a glimpse behind me for the last time, savoring Inazuma’s hues of pink, red, violet… Although violet has overtaken every other color.
And I leap. I focus not on the crashing waves but on the wind’s current as it takes me higher, and hopefully somewhere far away.
At this moment, my mind whispered thoughts of wanting to leave home. It was a first.
Then, there is the breeze drifting through the gaps between my fingers as I spread out my arms from a mountain peak in Liyue, my backdrop the golden rays of the sun piercing the clouds.
I choose to believe the world is inherently kind, but since my wanderings began, I’ve also not been ignorant of the dangers lurking within. So, I strove to master the Isshin Art, both to carry the Kaedehara legacy and to equip myself for survival.
I named my strongest skill chihayaburu because it references a poetic anthology I read as a child (well, with the time I had before my clan fell). I remember the half-outdoor library in our mansion; the sharp scent of the inks contrasting with the musty aroma of the scrolls and books together made for a comforting stay. I would rest my back against the tree trunk and the book would catch a maple leaf in its pages—a bookmark. The blades of grass swaying to the breeze would tickle my feet.
It was like an oasis: an outdoor paradise beneath a shade, and filled with the stories of those who came before.
Ah, but I digress… The anthology reminds me to maintain peace within and without myself. I am not fond of violence, but I promised to let my friend’s flame live on. So only if I must, I have adopted chihayaburu in such a way that my foes may feel nature’s breath one more time. If they must meet their end at my hand, I hope to at least make it blissful.
Along this train of thought, I am told that I am poetic; in Beidou’s words, that “flowers come out of my mouth instead of words.” Though to what extent I can trust the crew’s words—what with their direct way of speaking—I am not sure. But this does not mean I view them as a nuisance or separate from me. In fact, I treasure their clamor, especially during our three-day celebrations, and their company, knowing they are ready to keep the Alcor, her goods and her people, safe from any harm. (As long as their noise and singing do not disturb me in my sleep, that is…)
When the flowers bloom, I cannot help myself seeing the world as it is intended, and I am spurred to share its beauty, to the best of my ability.
For example, a lake sparkling on a sunny afternoon is not so different from when the clouds part in the evening, revealing thousands of stars. That said, the water is a mirror, and whether I stare at my reflection in the lake or turn my gaze skyward, I can still tap on the individual lights, picking them like lavender melons.
Another instance—I realized this as I awoke from a nap with a sneeze: As I startled myself, I shook the Sandbearer Tree, and a few yellow leaves fell on me. I looked up and I noticed that tree branches and twigs were reaching for the clouds; I felt compelled to raise my hands, too.
Are not our hands and bodies in a similar structure?
How do I put it… Humanity is a universe. The way our bodies are built and adapt is not so different from animal and plant life, from Teyvat. Possibly other worlds beyond and its inhabitants. Nor are we, ourselves, so different from one another.
Or I remember the time I was there to witness my friend and his cat’s meeting. He and I were strolling about Higi Village when I heard rustling in the bushes. My senses being more sensitive than his, imagine my surprise when I saw my friend turn his head to the cat just as she locked her gaze on him! She leaped, clawed her way up his legs, and nestled herself in his shirt. And I can testify they’ve never parted since.
Aside from my friend smelling like fish jerky quite strongly to appease the cat, I admired their presence both. The warmth he shared with her, he shared with me, too. I vow to share my company the same way with everyone I meet.
… I tend to recall moments like this only when I have a sakazuki in hand, its cool lacquered wood contrasting the sake that warms its way through my body.
Now… What I meant to say was: No matter how beautifully the flowers bloom (whether by nature’s bounty or by drinks), the last line always escapes me. But I fear not, for while a mother bird leaves its chicks to collect food, she always returns to her nest.
I will find the words and continue my story, pleased with the present and full of hope for the future.
It’s just another way of saying I do as I please.
