More Cryptid Roomie Au for the lovely @lockoutkey :D The Au may be done but this has been stuck in wip hell for months and I wanted to share it with everyone.

There were more plans for a part 3 but irl got me. So idk if I'll ever get it done :D

Now that Secret Life has ended (no spoilers here, dw), have an AU idea that's been worming around in my brain for a while.

So it takes place in a quaint little suburban neighborhood, and everyone in there is a mythical creature/monster of some sort. The Big Dogs are Werewolves, the Heart Foundation are vampires, Gem and the Scotts are sirens, the roomies are witches, Lizzie is a Dryad, and I'm still debating on what Scar is (just a human, a fae, idk)

And then a new set of neighbors move in: Mumbo, Joel, Pearl, and BDubs. So the neighborhood starts speculating on what they are: Are they a bunch of cryptids? Are they also vampires? Or are they fae?

But nope. Turns out they're all human. Just really, REALLY weird humans.

And shenanigans ensue. Some funny, some scary, some sad, but the weirdo humans eventually get accepted into their funky neighborhood dynamic.

I'm planning on making a bunch of one-shots on Ao3 about it, so hopefully I can expand on this idea a bit more.

As for somethings about it:

Anti form, like I’ve stated before, steals food and drink for its Light. This, of course, gets noticed after a while by smaller stores and such. Anti eventually becomes like, local cryptid

And of course, the rumors of a demon or Yokai running around this small area garners the attention of kids trying to hunt it down (and the foretellers who are trying to get the Lighter half back)

A couple of successful encounters with Anti get caught in video, which gets put online, and makes it back to Strelitzia and Yozora (they’re roomies)

Strel is like “…shit that looks like a Darkling of sorts that’s probably not good”

And so she and Yozora go Yokai hunting (and run into the foretellers along the way)

Okay so I've been on vacation and I left my tablet at home. But. I have ibis paint on my phone (which I do not know how to use)

BUT. I've gotten into an au on here by @lockoutkey called Cryptid Roomies au and it has been on my mind ever since and so I doodled this

you know that one myth with Orpheus and Eurydice, the one where they couldnt look back if they wanted to get out? ,,,jimmy and scott.

You come into my house and bring up Hellenism??? You fool! you dug into a special interest!

For those unfamiliar with the story, a Greek dude named Orpheus goes down to hell, as you do, and asks Hades for his love, Eurydice, back. Hades says yes, but with a catch, he has to lead Eurydice out of the Underworld without looking back at her, and in some versions not talking to her. Now how this goes from here always goes the same way, Orpheus looks back too soon, and Eurydice goes back to the Underworld. how/why he turns back differs from telling to telling, as Hellenisim was mostly oral storytelling so it has a lot of deviation. Now, for maximum pain, we can go to one or two of my favourite versions, where Orpheus walks out, he sees the sun again, and when he turns back to hug Eurydice in pure joy of getting out- and Eurydice is still in the cave. She fades away back in the overworld, not mad at her love, but understanding the amount of joy he felt.

Anyway I’m going to assume this was at least partially about @lockoutkey‘s cryptid roomies au. So imagine instead of walking his way through the hellscape alone, he has Scott with him!! And everything is good, great, even,.. but Scott won’t look at him, he won’t speak, he won’t answer Jimmy’s questions about where they’re going or why they’re doing this. Do you sill love me? Did I do something wrong? Are Iskall and Grian okay? Scott stays silent, but tries to hold onto Jimmy’s hand harder, tries to communicate how much he loves him. It doesn’t work. Jimmy gets increasingly more desperate and Scott turns around to reassure him and-

Jimmy is gone. He questions if Scott leading him out was a delusion made up by his subconscious to keep him sane.

He shakes his head, and looks toward the direction the “Helper“ pointed, and starts walking, seemingly for the second time, this time with an empty spot by his side
