Well, no, she didn't say that part, but she didn't object when Taako had suggested that outcome. And honestly? Honestly?? Taako had tried. He really had. Not the "perfect man will come out of hell to fall in love with you" thing- well, not exactly. But he had tried to actually go places and meet people instead of just scrolling through WizardsOnly.com for hours on end. Half those chucklefucks weren't even real wizards, anyway.

Logging on today had been- a distraction. A coping mechanism, if you will. It was an "I had a shitty day and I'm all out of ice cream" kind of day. The profiles on here were awful and downright embarrassing to read through sometimes and usually, they'd do a great job of making Taako feel much better about himself. He couldn't be worse than the sixteenth guy holding a bass. Like, c'mon. At least Taako had a salmon in his!

But then- then! Maybe the fiery gates of hell did open briefly because no one was allowed to be this good-looking with committing some kind of death crime. Mr. High cheekbones and half-pinned up hair, with a cool and dark aesthetic about him. There were no fishing pictures. There was no bragging about being voted into the local wizard consul.

There was, however, several photos of him amongst a group of old woman, all of whom were wearing bright, colorful clothes. The first picture of him was obviously a cropped selfie where someone had zoomed in on his face. The description was as followed:

And that was it. No introduction, no explanation from the gaggle of grandmas, no nothing. Taako was- well, Taako was delighted. Lup always said he had a tendency to go for people who seemed sort of aggressive but if something about this worked out, then he had physical proof that this man was not violently aggressive and/or mean. Old ladies didn't vibe with that. Fuck yes.

Taako opened up a new message.

He sat back, satisfied. Take that, Lup! He moved to click away from the tab but a bubble popped up under his messages, showing that Kravitz was already responding. Taako scooted his chair forward. It took a rather long time for him to type the message, so Taako did think, for a minute, that he was going to be offended. But when it finally popped up, it wasn't like that at all.

Message from Kravitz: I run a knitting circle.

Taako: A knitting circle?? go on

Kravitz: It's like... a grief thing. Like, "I'm so sorry your husband died, Susan, do you want to knit a blanket about it" kind of thing.

Taako: Delightful.

Taako paused, stretching his fingers over the keyboard. Go big or go home. This was a dating website, after all.

Taako: so listen. ur vv hot but I need to know if ur like, a murdered or if you have like,,, anger issues. bc my history is Not Great. please don't be a murderer

Kravitz: I don't think I'm a murderer? And that's a no on the anger issues. I think. Maybe? Should I ask someone?

Taako: I trust you.

Kravitz: Bold words from the guy who dated a murderer with anger issues.

Taako snorted, smiling for the first time all day. He cracked his knuckles and shook his hands out, setting them back on the keyboard.

Taako: You've got no idea, my dude.

when i got my first pair of glasses, i spent the whole day taking them on and off to see the difference between what i thought was “normal” and what everyone else was seeing. it definitely has that feeling of “3d but real life” as you put it 💜 one of my favorite things was being able to see leaves on trees that were far away? like, i just assumed they should be one big blue but they weren’t! that, and my eyes didn’t hurt from the strain of trying to see/squinting anymore 💜💜

YES it's like...... my prescription isn't even very strong but I keep like. looking over my glasses to compare and the difference is noticeable!!! I feel like I have superhuman vision now lol. I can read street signs

"That's not what I'm saying though," Taako said. He held a hand up before Lup could interrupt. "'Cause I'm like, so down for this. Yes, he's a piece of shit. Yes, he steals all your ideas. Yes, he deserves his house to be both broken into and entered. However, we- you, specifically, actually- but we're dead set on getting on that space mission or whatever, remember? I don't think they're gonna let us on if we do more crimes."

"We haven't done any crimes!" Lup said. A pause, and then, "that they know of."

"That they know of," Taako agreed. "But do you really think that Grimaldis isn't gonna go straight to blaming you when he finds his favorite... what are you taking?"

"Shoes."

"Lup, he's gonna know you've taken the shoes," Taako said. "That's our thing. We take shoes. You gotta be a little more creative. Gimme somethin' spicy and then we'll talk."

"All the toilet paper," Lup said. Taako snapped.

"Better," he said. "What else?"

"His red shirts specifically," Lup said.

"His floss."

"Half of his mugs."

"All of his forks."

"Exactly ten of his mugs!"

"His TV!" Taako said, slamming his hand down on the bed. Lup leaned back in her chair and laughed until she started coughing. Taako leaned back again, satisfied.

"I-" Lup scrunched her face up in an effort not to laugh. "I think the TV is a lil' much, Taako."

"We'll workshop it," Taako said. He glanced over at the alarm clock on his bedside table. "When're we leaving?"

"Eleven," she said. "We can get Fantasy Wendy's afterward if you want."

"Hell yes," Taako said. "Taako's in, baby."
