i've died on smaller hills, so i can't judge. but i do think it's funny whenever posts about the proper definition of a poor little meow meow circulate, considering none of them mention that the origin was a kpop fan's absolutely bonkers tweet about not being able to protect a full grown man who was getting backlash for including audio from the jonestown cult leader jim jones in one of his songs

Restored/Abandoned
Ancients had followings once.
Massive, sprawling networks ever in their service. They cared little for things in the long run, but that is not to say they didn’t acknowledge their followers power, their devotion, their borderline obsession.
Some watched over their believers, sometime to keep them from harm, sometimes just to know them. Some picked favorites and kept them close, even in death. Some granted desires at a whim, showering gifts upon those they deemed worthy. Some spoke to their believers, in person, or through that offered connection.
But Ancients had duties. They had realms and domains that could keep them blind to the worlds for a time that would only seem reasonable to something so long-lived.
And in that time, devotion would fade. Proof would die, and believers along with it. Their followings would splinter, their stories would grow warped, until not even their name was consistent.
They would cease to be known.
And while this did not effect them so massively, it was a shame.
It was a loss.
Now that you know of orders lost, I need you to think of a boy.
I need you to think of Danny Fenton, of Phantom, of a child who had people close to deities as role models, a strange sense of humor, and just enough spare time on his hands.
Think of a boy that would correct the broken versions of Pandora’s myth, of a boy that would hear of Father Time and rave about a clock tower of the most intricate build, a boy who would set down grudges and tell of dreams more wild than even Amity’s waking world.
And remember, this was Amity Park. This was a place mundanely haunted, a place known for it’s mystique. So, people heard, and they considered it. A few even believed it.
Cults already existed in Amity Park. It was not hard for more to form when it was Phantom egging on their conspiracy.
And the Ancients heard, and they might have ignored. But, that child was theirs as far ghosts cared, and he had given them believers.
So, much in the way a parent might stick a hideous crayon drawing up on their fridge, Pandora and Clockwork reached out to their new followings.
And like a curious sibling, Nocturne was just entertained enough to humor Danny.
Pandora gave protection for every offering delivered, talked into the minds of her zealots, and appeared to them as she pleased.
Clockwork chose prophets, gave prophecies and future sight without any comprehensible reason.
Nocturne spirited away resting minds, hiding them away in a deeper sleep, with more powerful, happier dreams.
And as simply as that, Amity knew Ancients, and they would not forget for a long time yet.

[ID: One image. A cropped screenshot of an anonymous ask that reads: You should be fucking ashamed of yourself. You do not belong to our community if this is how you're going to act. Fuck you and fuck Harry Potter. You disgusting pig. /end ID]
?????????
What is wrong with you people????? I reblogged one post that only tangentially related to Harry Potter because it had a lot of cool art about phoenixes as based on different birds. You realize phoenixes are like. not something JKR made up? Phoenixes are mythological creatures that have been around long before Rowling's mother shat her out.
You people legitimately act as though you're in a cult. I want no part of your "community" if this is how you behave, as though you're the final arbiter of who belongs or not in the first place. Grow up, you arrogant, over-dramatic child.

knowing that pebbleshines spirit was watching over her kits the whole time throughout avos (until her spirit is put to rest ofc) just makes what happened to violetshine even more heartbreaking like. its one thing seeing her experience all this trauma, but then imagine it from pebbles perspective: shes watching her daughter go through all this, getting separated from her family, being emotionally neglected, being manipulated by a cult leader, being forced to watch her loved ones die. and the whole time pebbleshine is there to see all of it and cant do anything about it. it breaks her heart to see her daughter this way and she cant even comfort her, cant even defend her from all the awful things happening to her.
in thunder and shadow, twigpaw is so determined to find her mother, and when she finds out shes dead, violetpaw shows no emotional reaction. she treats the fact that their mother is dead as if it was obvious, as if she doesnt care. and this hurts pebbleshine, obviously, but she accepts it. her daughters never really knew her. but she knows her daughters, knows them better than any cat, because shes been watching over them for so long. and they dont even know her name. and violet, who desperately just wants to be loved, has no idea that the cat who loves her and knows her so well is someone shes never even seen before. pebbleshine wants to give her daughter the love she deserves, but she cant. and that.....makes me feel even more Pain

(censoring terms so they don't show up in searches + limiting reblogs as well bc I simply don't want ppl to reblog it as it's a very much Non Authoritative or Scholarly thought of mine that I don't want people to take as fact bc they saw it on the internet)
seen someone (who is an ex z*onist Jewish psn) talk about how z*onism is functionally a cult and like. Shit dude. Yeah. There are a lot of Chr*stian cults that form under the pretense that their religion is under threat (this is of course not to say that J*daism isn't under threat or imply that in any way, Becuase antisemitism is very much real) + the way z*onism functions is at the very a scholar. It's just something worth thinking about, I think. As like a possible part of an explanation of why z*onists are Like that. You are not immune to propaganda and definitely not to cult techniques of playing on your most profound desire for safety for your community to turn you into an instrument of violence against other people.
I invite engagement on this thought from followers and stuff but please for the love of God be normal. Please

so the whole “QA wants to start a religion” thing. my special interest was cults for a few years, and i still retain quite a bit of the information i’ve read. so here’s my thoughts.
i wouldn’t outright call this a cult or “cult leader behavior”, but i would be cautious. QA’s beliefs are rooted in anti-therapy, anti-psych, and anti-medicalism. this is dangerous on several levels.
likewise, wanting to make your own belief system isn’t inherently dangerous. i’ve invented religions for my writing before, even if i don’t practice what i made.
however, the manipulation QA has shown itself capable of (especially towards vulnerable people) is worrisome and something that I would be very, very careful around. it sends it’s followers to harass the living hell out of people it doesn’t agree with, and then plays innocent. it also manipulates others by telling them that “oh, i saw what REALLY happened” and shit. that’s... not okay.
anyways, that’s my two cents. you can call it cult if you want, but right now, what QA’s doing is just being a shit person.

Multiple times we’ve heard of cults. Weird fucked up things you can’t imagine being willing to partake in and yet. How many followers have taken poison for the promise of Nirvana? How many people have cut ties with everyone outside of their church because “you need no one else but us?” How many times have we heard about cult leaders taking on a partner, or even a harem, to continue their “sacred” bloodline or give birth to the next savior?
Wait. What’s that last one?
Leaders taking on a partner or more for a heir or chance at bringing new godship? Why would *anyone* willingly do that?
Ghesties I’m sorry but if you’ve ever found yourself wanting to be a prime mover, cult tactics have 100% worked on you.
((I wanna be clear I’m not shaming anyone! I’ve just been analyzing the form of satanism Ghost portrays and thought this would be an interesting annotation to share! This is my personal opinion that I made completely for fun. You’re more than welcome to share your own too! And if you want, I encourage you guys to take a moment to look at Ghost from an outsider perspective and try to find what other cult tactics are present! It’s actually kinda fun.))

Kayne West just stated that "Jews shouldn't be in charge of everything. And they should only work for Christian's." Meaning they shouldn't own businesses or property. He's literally just parroting Louis Farrakhan.
You know the cult leader responsible for praying largely on the black community?
A lot of people will see this dude raving and ranting and be like wow crazy amiright?!
Other people put their children in West's school.
Cult leaders don't need everyone to agree with them infact it works out better then they is heavy opposition. It breeds and "is in the know vs them the enemy" mentality.
Mark my words this is gonna lead to a boost in the Nation of Islam membership or West will create his own. I shouldn't have to tell y'all why this is bad but here you go.

sometimes I spend three hours doing a deep dive about the personality overlaps and differences between cult leaders and serial sexual predators or trying to figure out how sock puppet accounts on Twitter are being run by the same person
and sometimes the fifteen seconds tiktoks are too fucking long

maybe im overanalyzing this bit but i just think its so important how violetshine Specifically is the one to call out starclan for their hypocritical behavior wrt the warrior code bc shes been in a cult before (darktails kin) and has a deep understanding of their manipulation tactics and how they abuse rules to control others. and while she enjoys life in the clans, shes smart enough to see the similarities in how their rules are handled even if its less extreme than what darktail did. in fact she did explicitly say earlier on in the arc that ashfur/bramblefakes behavior was very VERY reminiscent of darktail, so ofc it makes sense that she would want to prevent a cat like that from taking over again, and in order to do that the clans would have to change how they treat "codebreakers"

You know what? I want a whole post for this:
Sex Repulsion is not the same thing as, or an excuse for, Sex Negativity
non-negotiable!
I am a sex-repulsed asexual. This means that I am uncomfortable and repulsed by the idea of engaging in sexual acts. This does not mean that I have an excuse to be repulsed by other people's sexual attraction or the right to police how other people engage in or express sexual acts or attraction.
Young queer people need to learn the difference between sex repulsion and sex negativity, and actively work to unlearn sex-negative attitudes. Asexuality, even sex-repulsed asexuality, is and should be fully compatible with sex positivity.
If you are uncomfortable with the idea of other people feeling sexual attraction or engaging in sexual acts that do not involve you in any way, that is not sex repulsion it is the cultural Christianity and you need to seriously work on that.

Does QA refer to Q-Anon or something else? /gq
I assumed Q-anon but then I was like “wait why would that be on a syscourse blog??”
P.S. If you ever want to reignite the cult special interest try some of Telltale Atheist’s older videos
hey there!
no, QA is short for queerautism, someone who's involved in syscourse on here, and who is currently encouraging others to leave therapy. which is, needless to say, dangerous.
i'm not a fan of telltale atheist, but thank you for the recommendation! i recommend the "cults" podcast a lot, since it's rather in-depth!!
