Oh no, you found a post where someone is saying they think sex/romance is gross! Whatever shall you do?
ignore it. literally ignore it. I'm 100% serious just fucking ignore it. it literally is not a personal attack on you. do not take it as a personal attack. scroll past it, hell block if you really need to, but you do not need to respond. it is not about you buddy - not everything is about you. close your eyes and move on buddy it's that easy. literally it is not systematically oppressing you for someone to say "Ew sex" or "Ew romance". just walk away pal.

Content Filters - Your New Best Friend!
I dont think we take advantage of content filters enough. So I'm putting together a little tutorial in case anyone isn't aware of them.
Now we may all be aware of tag filters, both via tumblr saviour and also tumblrs in built tag filtration system.
But that still runs into issues as some people just dont tag their posts, and therefore some posts will still find their way to the dashboards of people that dont want to see certain content that they have blocked.
If you are in a small fandom, sometimes popular content that you arent interested in can become quite prevailent and unavoidable even if you have tags blocked. But there IS a way to avoid that content regardless of whether people are tagging their posts or not
CONTENT FILTERS.
Content filters work by blocking certain words that appear in posts. If there is a certain thing that you really want to avoid, you can just block that word or phrase and boom! You'll never have to see it and everyone will be happier for it. If you don't know where the content filters are, I can show you. On tumblr mobile go to account settings:
Tumblr media
Then scroll down to "content you see":
Tumblr media
Here you will find the filtered tags:
Tumblr media
And if you're anything like me you'll have a nice long list of blocked tags to curate your feed.
However if you just scroll down to the bottom of your blocked tags list, you'll find this:
Tumblr media
Here is where you add words you wanna block. You can block trigger words, you can block things like "blood" if thats not your jam, you can block "omegaverse" if that gives you a squick, and you can also block ship names and names of whole fandoms if you find them annoying (blocking Supernatural may help with your mental health lmao).
It can be overzealous, so its best to block phrases more than random words as those words can be used in many contexts after all (which is why its excellent for blocking fandom ships as those are usually portmanteaus that wont appear in regular language). Blocking the word "omega" may be a bit too wide a net for instance, but blocking something like "omega Dream" will work wonders and calm those buldging temple veins.
Now this is just a tumblr app tutorial but I believe the content filters are in the same place on desktop. Its not hard to find them and I strongly suggest everyone uses them.
We all want to have a peaceful pleasant fandom experience, and as always, the best way to do that is to CURATE YOUR OWN SPACE. I'm someone who loves searching in the fandom tags, so I dont rely on following/unfollowing to curate my feed. I often expose myself to things in the tags i may prefer to avoid, or maybe I follow people for some content but dont wanna see other content they reblog. Either way, the content filters protect me from triggers, things that squick me out, and content I just find annoying.
Whilst we can all ask that people tag appropriately, it is never the OPs fault if you have seen something you don't want to see. You have all the tools available to you to avoid everything you dont like. Use them.

Curate your YouTube search and recommendations
Tell me if you've had this problem before. You click on some video, any video, looking at something positive. And all of a sudden, you're spammed with dozens of negative videos in your recommendations. And no matter how many “Not interested” or “Don't recommend channel” that you click, YouTube still forces them on you. Or maybe you're looking for something in YouTube search, but you get too much clickbait videos, or hate-watch videos? And you have to scroll through everything?
Or maybe people have used different tags to force them into your search options, giving you tons of options that aren't related to what you are searching for. Wouldn't it be nice if you could block these channels and videos the same way you block people on social media?
Tumblr media
Unfortunately, YouTube's existence relies on Ad revenue exclusively, hence why their channel blockers won't work, and reporting channels or videos won't accomplish anything if those channels and videos don't harm YouTube's reputation or ad revenue.
The larger a channel gets, the less chance of YouTube taking action against them. Hence why very large hate-channels and videos will swarm into searches.
Tumblr media
Fortunately, there are tools called Browser Extensions or Add-Ons that allow you to have your browsers be able to add that specific block button option.
But...wouldn't it be nice if we didn't have to look for those tools? Why do we need such an option? Why can't YouTube give us that option in the first place?
In any case, the resources DO exist. You just have to look for them on Google Search. Blocktube is one such tool, and you can look it up on Google Search to confirm what I have shown here.
I know that for Phones you’ll need something called Youtube Vanced, also researchable on Google.
Credit goes to https://www.tumblr.com/rwby-cinder-blog/620199907993714688
I’m just sick and tired of YouTube not doing a thing about a glaring problem on its increasingly problematic platform.
Edit: Dear people who are upset with hogwarts legacy? These tools are for you.

STOP!!!
This is a post of tag filtration. If you see this post, I dare you to go in your settings and filter 3 tags. Nothing bad will happen if you don't do it, but I still think you should!
Here are some ideas for tags to filter: - Vent - The tag for the fandom you aren't in, but see everywhere. - Whatever the current discourse topic is. - Anti [your OTP] - A TW/CW for something you don't like. Done? Pat yourself on the back if you did it! You've saved yourself from having to see an annoying post down the line. If you didn't, no worries! Some days you just aren't in the mood.
Reblog to inflict the post of tag filtration on your mutuals!

It never ceases to amuse me when I check out a new follower to make sure they're not a pornbot and in either their description or their pinned post they have "proshippers DNI." You interacted first, my guy. This shit goes both ways.

I truthly think most of this fandom problems are caused because people don't curate their experience better. I was guilty of this too because there was a time I wanted to know everything. So these are some things that I do that had helped me to have a better fandom experience
1. The block bottom is there for a reason, if someone is annoying you you can just block them and the problem is gone.
2. Mute every topic you don't want to know about, I don't care what's being said about the kid even if it's Louis saying it so I just mute EVERYTHING.
3. No one in the fandom is referring to them by the full names so mute their government names and the gp opinions about them are automatically gone.
4. You don't need to follow every update account, just follow the ones that you know talk about things you want to know and block the others.
5. Follow accounts that think similar to you and if they don't make sure the things you don't agree on aren't things that upsate you.
6. Don't engage with the trolls, like there's nothing you can do to convince they're wrong so why botter?
7. Don't follow tabloids and pop culture magazines, like I know sometimes their teams use them to push out narratives but 99% of the times they're only talking about things they know will bring them clicks and not because their PR teams tell them to do it.
I know people don't like to do this things because they thing they're gonna miss on important things but let me assure you that if something is REALLY important is gonna make it to your tl no matter what
All great advice. Thank you!

Today I exercise self-care.
I started to type a comment on a thread where someone was WRONG and I was RIGHT and there was a POINT to be made, and then halfway through I decided this wasn't a hill I wanted to die on, and considering this was the internet, nobody was ever going to back down anyway, and I deleted the comment and left the page.
Proud of myself.

Alright, let's have a chat!! From an actual ace person who does not want to do the hanky panky with the man (but still hornyposts because it's funny lol)
Guide to still have fun in the tag even on horny on main days
BLOCK PEOPLE: if you find that a person posts too much, block them!! It's fine, cheap and easy! There are many fans who do not penispost, and the tag will be clearer for you, so you won't miss on any content. I personally blocked people for reasons such as "they're annoying", it's all fine
USE THE BLACKLIST FUNCTION: tumblr has incorporated it, and please use it! It's a wonderful function. I know that personally there are some days when I don't want to see drama, so I have words like "anon", "drama", "controversy", etc blacklisted. That way, when I actually do feel like it, I can click to see the posts if I choose to do so!
TAKE A BREAK FROM SOCIAL MEDIA: Not a joke. Sometimes, just close the tag a while to calm down. You might feel a bit better afterwards
Here, you're responsible to curate your own experience. Don't forget that Käärijä is NOT a safe for work artist. He often posts and does stuff on stage that would make my mom order me to stop watching this even though I'm 32 lol. The fandom is gonna be a reflection of that.
You sadly can't expect the fandom of a man who can gesture on stage eating a girl out (you know the gif) to be chaste

Today, I had a stark reminder of the importance of curating your online experience. I revisited a toxic forum after months and initially stumbled upon a friendly thread, but it quickly spiraled into character bashing. What did I do? I simply exited and logged out. Refusing to get wrapped into pointless arguing or consuming such negativity, I muted/blocked those users. Realizing if this many posts had to be muted, it wasn't worth staying on the site. I urge you to watch the amount of negativity you consume on social media and online. It's not healthy to engage in daily battles or endless circles of pointless arguments. Take care of yourself; you have a right to a cortisol-free online experience.

Don't you think that your complains about Basque people's struggles are a bit 1st world problems right now with everything that's happening in Palestine and Ukraine? There are currently bigger problems to post petty whining
I'll answer before I block you,
My blog, my petty whining, my first world problems. Block and DNI if you can't handle it.
Luckily my people aren't suffering an ethnic cleansing, but I guess that for people like you I can only complain about mistreat or disrespect if we're being bombed non-stop. That's your minimum to start saying something, I see.
I've never said that Basque people's problems are bigger than any other struggling people's. Of course I'm not obtuse enough to see other people have it much worse than us. But this blog is about our culture, life, history, and problems. Them being much less serious than other people's suffering don't make them invalid. It's like saying you don't have a right to complain about your pain if you're assaulted and beaten and get out with just an arm and a leg broken, when other people are assaulted and beaten to death. Yes, comparison serves as a perspective and a recognition of privilege, but you're still in pain no matter what, right?
Sending this to try to make me feel bad about posting what I've always posted on my own blog - no matter what other more worrying issues were happening in the world btw - is just useless and low. You feel better now?

Anti’s need to take a moment to realize that the internet is not a safe space. It never has been, and it never will be. It was not created with the intent of being a safe space in the first place.
The internet is home to all things - the good, the bad, and the ugly.
There is no way to make the internet truly safe. That is because of the overwhelming amount of content that it holds. Nothing is sacred. If you truly think that the internet should be a pure safe space for all, you are living in a delusion - I’m sorry to say.
Nothing anyone says or does can make the internet safe for all. However - you can curate you own online experience! If you see things you don’t like, then you have the ability to block people! You also have the ability to not search for things that make you uncomfortable ( which is apparently an extremally foreign concept for some antis ). Another thing you have the power to do on certain sites is to block tags and words so that you won’t see posts with said tags / words!
The internet isn’t safe, but there are many ways to make your internet experience more enjoyable.
Harassing people when they like something that you personally don’t is never the answer and will never accomplish anything.
