Curveball

The grotesque, at times even surreal, true story of how the Iraq war was started based on nothing but fake intelligence and the involvement of the German government and the German secret service.

The story is still hard to believe. It seems so absurd. Incompetence and cowardness on the German side. A willingness to embrace invented facts as justification to go to war by the Americans. As the movie points out at the end, hundreds of thousands of people died during that war. And a proven lie played a part to start it.

As for the movie. It's darkly funny. At times I was thinking it should've been possible to even more strongly emphasise the farcical elements of the story. But maybe it was a conscious decision to keep the movie more grounded.
