[4t2] Sixam (Skybox & Ocean Floor)

Alright, after a long hiatus I'm finally back with an update! ^^

Remember the 4t2 sixam skybox I was working last year... but wasn't quite happy about it being "high" in the sky... with all those objects being too gigantic? Well I tried to fix it, but still tried to keep the original TS4 vibe... so yeah, let me know what you think!

Is there something you'd change as well? I'd love to have some feedback on that.

By the way, I also made a matching SC4 map for Sixam, to match the rocky vibe TS4 Sixam has. I think it's closest I could get with those annoying SC4 sculpting tool, lol.

Update!!!

I just came across early images of how Sixam originally looked like. For some reason EA decided to change Sixam and make it more "matt" at some point in an update.

I decided to add back the highlights as I think it looks much cooler and gives more of a out-of-this-world feeling. I've also managed to fix the planet's shape to be more spherical, yayy!! Below you can see Sixam before and after the glow up. ^^

To be honest, I don't know why EA changed Sixam in the first place? As I've had it much brighter in memory as well! But didn't think much of it when I first made this skybox out of the screenshots from my game.

Welcome to Greenwood !

GREENWOOD - V2

If you live in Greenwood, that has to mean you are something other than human, insane or even both. With its dense forests, crystal blue ponds and eclectic architecture, the town has the kind of bizarre charm that puts a spell on anyone who steps on its ground. For centuries, it has been a sanctuary for people who had been cast away from their homelands. But is it really such a quiet and peaceful place ? What kind of secrets do the inhabitants have ? Is it true that people were murdered ? Why are alien spaceships drawn to the town so much ?

You will find out as you play the neighborhood. It's ✨a mess✨.

Most of the Sims have some kind of tie to the supernatural, either being a supernatural Sim themselves, extremely into the supernatural, extremely against the supernatural or having had to deal with the supernatural at some point.

The hood just needed some changes, such as a more coherent architecture, less terrible community lots and less trees, because the neighborhood deco in V1 caused quite a lot of pink soup and crashes for some people with less powerful computers or who used an enlarged viewing distance in lot view with disabled fade distance. If you still experience pink soup, maybe try LazyDuchess's experimental fix or lower your lot skirt size / enable the fade distance.

WHAT IS IN THE HOOD ?

If you still have v1 and you've had that save for a while, then you don't need to delete it and grab v2, of course.

The hood has :

16 playable families and 4 bin families.

77 lots : 32 community lots, 38 residential lots (16 occupied, 22 empty), 3 apartment lots with 4 slots each, 2 buildable lots and 2 hidden lots.

Completely re-done hobby lots, to include stuff from all the expansion packs and with some stuff that made me go "WTF" removed (main hood only).

INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS :

• For the main hood, place the GRWD folder into your [Your Name] / Documents / EA GAMES / The Sims 2 / Neighborhoods folder. • For the subhood, place the SGWD folder into your C: / Program Files (x86) / EA GAMES / The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection / The Sims 2 Open For Business / TSData / Res / NeighborhoodTemplate folder.

REQUIRED MODS :

MidgeTheTree's Child Lycanthropy mod. Not having it won't break the game, but it will cause graphic glitches.

CUSTOM SIMS 2 HOOD BASED ON MINIOPOLIS FROM URBZ: SIMS IN THE CITY

While it’s not an exact replica of Miniopolis itself, I at least tried to make the sims as close to the OG as possible. (The exception being Lloyd, as obviously you cannot make scalies in this game. I just pretend he had never been mutated by the pollution within Miniopolis and is still human)

This is my first time making a custom hood (unless you count my crappy ones I made as a kid w/ like 2 families max) A majority of the sims live by themselves. I’ve customized each and every house. (No, I didn’t build any from scratch because that would’ve taken forever) 

It’s a huge rotation, so I’d use the story progression mod if you don’t want to play as each and every character. (Currently on my 3rd rotation and yeah, it gets tiring)

I’ve play tested it multiple times and fixed some things each time, so hopefully this is the last time I have to update anything.

If anyone has any issues, message me and I’ll try to fix it.

19th Household - The Park Household

So what happened to Amira and her twins after Terrence broke up with her boyfriend Terrence?

If you've been reading my stuff you may remember that Amira was a townie who fell in love and moved in with Terrence Simmonds-Preston, they were generally happyish and had 3 children, Teresa, Sabrina and Finn

But there have always been a few problems in Amiras and Terrence relationship, Amiras dream was to get married but her proposal got rejected by Terrence, its only thanks to Terrence grandfather that they were able to work through it and stay together

After that the twins were born and Amira proposed the idea of having another baby soon after, but money was already tight and Terrence himself wasn't really interested in yet another child

Eventually Amira exploded, she and Terrence had different plans for the future and big money problems, she felt like she was the only one caring about this family and well during an argument she couldn't help herself and slapped Terrence

Terrence broke up with her upon that, she took the twins but left it up to Teresa to decide if she wanted to move out with her. As you can see Teresa stayed with her dad. Amira and the twins now live in Veronaville, trying to rebuild their life

There's something about that gnome that attracts every single sim to it. Astrid Ange was one of many to commit the dastardly deed of stealing it, but she didn't know who she was messing with.

Lexie gleefully pulled out her wand. Green sparkles emit from the wand as she stirs the air.

Since @gutosimmer hasn't been active on Tumblr since April 1, 2022 and nothing is known about his Early Veronaville, before starting my uberhood with Early PV and Early SV I think I'll create Early VV myself for personal use.

Unfortunately I won't be able to share the neighborhood because I have a lot of ccs and NPCs (I don't feel like creating a clean folder just for that) and I don't even know how to extract a neighborhood, so it will be something strictly personal.

I think I will create the neighborhood AFTER I fix my original Maxis uberhood and my BACC (I have to do a lot of makeovers...) so if you have any news on gutosimmer's Early VV please let me know before I create a mess! I love his neighborhoods and his style very much.

WHAT I WILL USE:

Veronaville Clean Empty Subhood Template from HERE.

The original Consort, Contessa, Patrizio and Isabella (the one from Maxis.)

Since gutosimmer uses genetically corrected sims, I'll use Consort and Contessa and Patrizio and Isabella's children from HERE. (Only their children and their wifes/husbands). I decided to use the original Consort, Contessa, Patrizio and Isabella because these versions use the genetics of their original Maxis parents.

Some ancestors from HERE (I need the parents of some sims).

Puck and Bottom's biological parents from HERE.

gutosimmer edited his lots staying true to the Maxis style, so I'm going to use the lots from @sundogsam who do great makeovers while keeping the Maxis style! HERE.

And finally I will use this mod to create memories. I've never used it, so I'll make a thousand thousand backups before I start using it.

Eighth household of Coldwater, Saskia Price & Saul Dillon.

Both of their favorite colors are black, meaning the entire house is black, which is not very nice for pictures.

First, their skins. It’s this skin here by @noodlesims who says they were made for personal use so that’s likely why it says Lilith and not noodlesims but I wanted to make sure that was clear.

Second, both of their clothes are default replacements. Saskia's custom is here and I think this here is Saul's custom. The link on the default database goes straight to SFS but I am 99.99% sure that's it.

Third, you need to download both of their glasses meshes. Saskia's is here (the plain glasses) and Saul's is here.

Ever wanted to play Bitville from Sims Life Stories, but with its original lore, right after Vincent's Story completed in Sims 2?

Well, then I might have something for you! You might remember that we updated Four Corners, but with Riley's Story completed last summer as well. In these alternative versions of the recreated Stories neighborhoods which the HBG and I made years ago, you can play with the sims just like in a freshly "unlocked" free-play neighborhood in Sims Life Stories, as if you played through the story mode in TS2.

Additionally, right before the end of Vincent's Story, the main character Naomi gets hit by Vincent's very own satellite and Vincent pleads with the Grim Reaper. However, Grim would only return Naomi if Vincent is willing to give up his fortune for her. So you get to choose the outcome of the story with these two options:

Vincent values money over love: Naomi dies, Vincent gets to keep his fortune, mansion, job and receives a statue of Naomi (which is basically also her grave)

Vincent values love over money: Naomi survives, but Vincent loses his fortune, mansion and job. He would then live together with Naomi with almost no money to start off of.

I recreated both scenarios, so you can download either neighborhood, based on your preferred ending. (In TS2, you could technically also resurrect Naomi now and let Vincent keep his fortune, but that's up to you then, lol.)

Also, if you’re not familiar with Vincent’s story, I recommend watching this lovely series/sims machinima made by the talented Bright Sim Studio on YT. 💕

It’s based on the storyline from the game and I must say they did an excellent job!! It’s very true to the original story and I love the new additions/plot twists as well! Definitely worth checking out! ^^

Guidelines I follow as well as any helpful links to some name generators will be under the cut! ♥

Starting a new Neighborhood can be tough! Where do you even start? Well, this written guide and video above is here to help you get started!

STEP 1: Creating/Choosing a Template - If you want to start from COMPLETELY SCRATCH, open up SimCity 4 and create your own map! - If that's too difficult or you just don't want to (like me!), you can download maps off ModTheSims or use the ones already provided in-game for you! :)

STEP 2: Naming Your Neighborhood/Lots - Take inspiration from real life! - Generators also help A TONNN! Below I linked the ones I like most! Feel free to mix and match them to come up with more unique combinations!

Fantasy Name Generators (Town Names) Mithril And Mages - City Names Sims 2 Name Generator

STEP 3: Lot Planning - Personally, I like to keep Community Lots/Apartments near the center of the map, and Residential homes around the sides/edges - Decide if you want just Small, Medium and/or Large lots in your neighborhood! - Place them around the map to figure out a layout until you are satisfied!

STEP 4: Choosing Your Community Lots - Main Hood Essentials: Cemetery, Restaurant, Park, Clothing Store, Grocery Store - University Essentials: Library, Town Hall, Lounge, Gym - Shopping District Essentials: Everything you can imagine! I also like to leave space for Sims to own their own businesses! I tend to use Shopping Districts as Secondary-Main Neighborhoods! - Downtown Essentials: Bowling Alley, Bar, Restaurant, Cemetery - Vacation Essentials: Hotels, Parks, Landmarks After I have the essentials, I fill in the gaps with whatever I want! Like I added a Car Dealership in my main neighborhood as well as a Cosmetic Surgery clinic! I also added a Train Station in my University!

The Mithril and Mages link above is great to come up with names and business ideas too!

STEP 5: Decorating Your 'Hood - I do this overtime! I don't think there's ever been a time where I've stopped decorating! Start by placing some trees or the flower decorations around the empty lots you placed!

STEP 6: Neighborhood/Lot Descriptions - Personally the hardest thing about Custom Neighborhoods! The good thing though is these can be left blank and nobody would know! - My best advice is to wait until most of the 'hood is built up, and then come with some descriptions! - Photoshopping the pictures like EA/Maxis will create beautiful pictures for the Neighborhood Stories album! (This is another post for another time)

STEP 7: The Families - Can't have a complete neighborhood without Sims and Families! - Use the Random Aspect Generator to come up with various Personalities for your Sims! - If you forgot to use a Clean Template (No Townies), I found a mod that will change up their names! - Take inspiration from TV Shows or the other Sims games! I always tend to recreate the Broke Family's storyline and Malcolm Landgraab's storyline with 2 families in my neighborhoods! (I like having a Rich and a Poor family lmao)

Creating new neighborhoods is always so much fun! I hope some of these guidelines help you get inspired!
