Hetalians as Characters in A Christmas Carol
So it's that time of year, and every year I watch the same Christmas movies over and over again. A classic in this house, also my mom's favourite version of it, is A Christmas Carol from 1951 starring Alastair Sim. Yes, I deliberately tracked down the DVD for her one year, and ironically I now have the working DVD player in the house.
I thought of these Hetalians as these characters in years past, thinking "one of these years I'll write the full fanfiction and post it", but since I never seem to get around to it... why don't I just cast everyone below the cut here?
Ebenezer Scrooge - Switzerland. This one should be so fucking obvious.
Marley, his dead business partner - Netherlands. All about the money.
Ghost of Christmas Past - Ukraine. You know she'd be the supportive guide, leading Switzy through exploring his past.
Ghost of Christmas Present - Russia. Don't tell me he couldn't play the jovial role of a Father Christmas type figure here. Plus the undertone of creepiness for his departure scene, where he becomes anxious to get out of there before the next ghost shows up.
Ghost of Christmas Yet To Come - Belarus. She doesn't even need to say a fucking word. She'll just stand there ominously, in a black dress and a dark veil that covers her head, and terrifies Switzy into changing his ways.
In The Past...
Fan, Ebenezer's sister - Liechtenstein. Poor sweet sister who tries to bring him back home to the family. Eventually dies in childbirth, which breaks her brother's heart.
Fezziwig, Ebenezer's first employer - Spain. You know the Spaniard would be a kind employer who would throw the best work party for the holidays.
Alice, Ebenezer's sweetheart - Hungary. Yes, perhaps my first thoughts of SwissHun, before I wrote Only Aces Remain or plotted Havana Lunare. Erzsébet would be happy with the relationship when they were young and humble, but would call it quits when the golden idol of wealth takes her place in his heart.
Jorkin, Ebenezer's next employer - Austria. A man who appears wealthy and influential, but ultimately gets caught up in embezzlement and bad business. He'll get bought out by Switzy and Ned.
Fan's husband (shows up in the background for the one scene in the movie) - Prussia. Yes, I'm breaking canon rules and throwing away the family lineage. Erika marries Gilbert, and dies giving birth to their son, who you can probably guess before I mention him later.
In The Present....
Bob Crachit - France. Keep following me on this....
Mrs Crachit - England (nyo). Yes, we get our FRUK pairing, which also means....
Assorted young Crachits - FACE family! Alfred can be the young man of the house, Madeline can be the eldest daughter who had to clear snow at the school/church before running home, you know where I'm going with this.
Tiny Tim - Sealand. Given the above, this should also be an obvious choice.
Fred, Ebenezer's nephew - Ludwig. Yes, Germany is the child of PruLiech as mentioned above. The young man is very happy in life, has married for love, and will at least try every year to convince his stubborn uncle to actually enjoy the holidays.
Fred's unnamed wife - Italy (nyo). Yes, we can have our heteronormative Gerita in this too. She'll be hosting the party with Fred, and Lovino can be one of the guests.
Mrs Dilber, the charwoman at Scrooge's house - Belgium. She just takes care of the cleaning and such, tries to sell his bedsheets and bedcurtains in the future yet to come, and gets a fright when he's way too happy on Christmas morning.

How would the axis and allies react on their daughters wedding day (yes this includes prussia romano and canada)
Hey hey hey, Admin Sarah always includes Matthew, he’s part of our Allies, always. And Admin Jay is always happy to include Romano and Prussia! (Note: vater means father, bambina means baby girl)
America: “I remember when she was like…football size…”Alfred would be a little teary, but this is his daughter’s day. He can cry later, but to be honest, if she is getting married, he better like the husband/wife-to be. He doesn’t want any divisions in the family, so they have to get used to him being around. He wouldn’t hover, but he doesn’t want to lose his precious baby girl. Though as he walks her down the aisle, it would hit him like a ton of bricks. His daughter isn’t a baby anymore, he doesn’t have to hold her hand anymore. She’s setting off on her own adventure. And he just hopes he did enough.
England: “Why does time always go so fast?…”Arthur would have to check himself a few times during the wedding. He wouldn’t want to ruin his daughter’s magical day, but if her husband ticked Arthur off in anyway, it would stick with Arthur for years. That is his perfect daughter, and her day and life must be as perfect as she is, and if anyone ruins it they will feel his wrath. Though he would also be teary and would cry a few times since he would remember all the times when she was little, every skinned knee, every paper cut, every cuppa tea by the fire and would still see her a little girl sometimes. Arthur would be proud of the woman his daughter has become, but he would always be a little sad that she was all grown up, since he knows she would be living her own life and he would have an empty house again.
France: “Non..! I’m not ready!…”Francis wouldn’t be ready for his daughter to get married. Even if she has been talking about her wedding day for years, he would never be ready to see her grow up. Though, Francis would give his daughter anything she needed for her wedding day, and likely pay for her to have her dream wedding. His daughter and future son/daughter in law only deserve the best…though this doesn’t make him old…does it?…
Canada: “My baby girl…”Matthew would stand there in shock, still in shock as he walks her down the aisle, though his eyes would be brimmed with tears. Matthew wouldn’t be able to believe he has a daughter half as beautiful as she is; or that she was finally growing up and getting married. As much as it would hurt to see her get married, he would be happy to see his baby girl so happy and in love.
Russia: “My little sunflower…all grown up…!”Ivan would be both ecstatic, and hurt. Of course, hurt because his little girl grew up. In Ivan’s eyes, daughters never grow up, the remain six years old with pigtails and skinned knees forever (whoever catches the reference gets a prize from Admin Sarah.) Despite Ivan having a hard time letting his daughter get married, if she was happy and he could at least tolerate her husband/wife to be, he would be happy for her. Though, some could see him crying on her wedding day.
China: “You look so cute! And remember, woks are good for swinging at people too!”Yao would be prepared for this day the most out of everyone. He would be confident that he raised a beautiful and proud girl, but also a girl with a good swing with a wok. Just in case. He would be a little teary as he walks her down the aisle, but in the end, if the husband/wife-to be passed his vigorous tests and high standards, he is confident that they are both in good hands with the other. Worst case scenario: Wok.
Germany: “Ja…you are not so little anymore. But good choice. Now keep them in line.”Ludwig would know that he has nothing to fear. His daughter would keep anyone in line, including their partner. He would walk her down the aisle with his head held high. He raised a queen, and now he is passing her on to her new life. Ludwig would have a few moments of looking at her and seeing her as a little girl, but he wouldn’t dwell on the past. He would be more focused on her bright future and watching with pride at all she will accomplish.
Italy: “Mi bambina…go back to being 4! For papa!”Felicano would not be ready for this day. No matter how long he had to prepare, no matter how long he knew, he would be a basket-case at his daughter’s wedding. The tears wouldn’t be able to stop as he cries tears of joy for his daughter. He knew they made the right choice with their partner, but the idea of her living her own life and leaving papa’s arms would crush him…for 10 minutes. Soon he would be bugging them about grand-babies for him to dote on.
Japan: “I am proud of you.”Kiku is a man of few words, and that rings true for his daughter’s wedding day. He would wish her and her new partner well, but he wouldn’t be a wreck or cry. This is a wonderful occasion, the blooming of a new life as beautiful as a cherry blossom in spring. He would celebrate with her partner and wish them well, but also would make sure they stay connected. Family is the most important thing, and he would not want to miss the accomplishments they will make in life.
Romano: “Don’t grow up! Stay with papa!”Lovino wouldn’t be as much of a mess as Felicano, but would still be a mess. He would be a little teary, but if anyone asked him, he would hide it with snark and anger as usual. As much as he would hate the reference, he would almost be like the Godfather watching over his daughter’s wedding. The day is all about her, and if anyone dares to take the attention away from her, they will know they crossed a very dangerous line. He would still be a little judgmental of her husband/wife-to be, but if they are good enough for his daughter and make her happy, then so be it. Lovino would love to dance with his daughter and celebrate her new life before handing her to her new partner, but he would always want to see her. At least once a week. Just so her wouldn’t be forgotten…or lonely.
Prussia: “You’re so awesome…maybe as awesome as me.”Gilbert would hold it together for all of…5 seconds. He would always try to hide the tears and act as the cool guy, but it wouldn’t last. That is his baby girl. His world. And now she is grown up and living her own life, awesomely. mind you He would be so proud of the choices she has made, because a bad choice or one he doesn’t agree with wouldn’t last this long. He would walk her up the aisle and pat the husband/wife-to be on the shoulder, because they won the lottery with his daughter. But it would also be a warning, mess up and vater would come down in full force. Grown up or not, that is his daughter.
