Avatar Set Visit (Y/N Ulrich Universe)

The day has finally arrived, even though you hated spoilers and suffered everytime you watched any of the movies, you were going to the Avatar set to visit it and experience how they filmed

The day before going to the set, you made blueberry cookies to share with everyone and spent the night at the Champion household because the day at the set started earlier, which meant waking up early and being there at first hour in the morning

And to being on point with the ocasion you choose to wear one of the sweatshirts they sent you last december, black leggings and white Nike Air Force 1, and your things in your tote bag

The first thing that Jack had to do arriving on set was getting on the motion capture suit and putting the dots on his face, not before you left the container with tthe cookies at the cattering table

"You look so cute with the dots on your face", you smiled seeing how they were styling his hair for the cap that was part of the suit, "I'll kiss your face but I don't want to ruin the last hour of work"

"And I'll apreciate you for that", the make up artist joked causing laughs from both of you

Just about Jack was about to say something, someone knocked on the door of the trailer before opening it, revealing one of the on-set assistants

"Good morning everyone", she greeted, "Jack, you still have half an hour to be on set, but Jim asked if Y/N can go to the set to see it before filming"

"Yeah, sure", you nodded

Standing up from the couch you were sitting with Anna and saying a momentarium goodbye to both of them, before following the on-set assistant through the location and entering the set that was prepared for the filming

"This is amazing", you murmured

"Y/N, hi", James aproached you

"Hi, Jim", you greeted with a side hug, "Thank you for having me here"

"It's the least after we broke your mental stability with the first two movies", James joked, "Come on, let me show you the space"

While everyone arrives, James took you on a little tour around the set, showing how the motion capture was done, the team of special effects, how the team worked inside the tank, the utilery and costumes, and of course the giant tank that occupaied almost the entire space

"I think this is the best filming set I've been", you said sitting in the bridge above the tank

"And since we know you hate spoilers, we got this for you", James said giving you blue headphones with small atokirinas, "Sound cancelling headphones, so that way you can see what we're doing but won't know the context"

"Are you serious? Thank you so much", you thanked putting them on and seeing how James was speaking but you couldn't hear, "This works, I don't know what you're saying!"

For a bit more of time, you stayed seated on the bridge just watching everything, at first not noticing that one of the photographers took a photo of you, and when you noticed it, you smiled to the camera

Once everyone started to arrive, you went down to the main floor so the crew can start arranging the cameras and other equipment

"This whole thing is amazing", you sighed standing next to Jack, "I mean, seeing it in photos and videos is one thing, but being there is the next level"

"How about the tank?", Jack asked

"It's incredible, but still grosses me out"

Knowing what you were reffering, Jack laughed hugging you by the shoulders, at what you circled his waist being careful of the suit

"So, you don't want to take a dip in there?", Jack joked

"Hell no", you laughed

"Do you like the sound cancelling headphones?", Jack questioned seeing them around your neck

"They're perfect, I love the atokirinas in them"

"I was the one that chose the design, actually"

"You know me so well"

"I know"

Just they called everyone to film, you and Jack shared a small kiss before he went with the rest of the cast, while you sat in a director chair in front of some screens, at the same time you put on the headphones

During the whole filming, you were mesmerized by the effort everyone was doing and the acting even though there wasn't a lot in front, also because of the bond all of they shared, of course you saw it at the premieres, but watching them acting together was another thing

During one of the recesses of filming, a person from the media aproached to you with an idea for a Tik Tok, at what you accepted because the idea was funny, starting the video on the trailers zone

"My boyfriend is on Avatar, of course I'm wearing the merch they gifted me"

Then it was at the entrace of the set

"My boyfriend is on Avatar, of course I cry everytime I watch any of the movies"

Later it was next to the cattering table, with Jack, Bailey and Trinity eating the cookies you made on the back

"My boyfriend is on Avatar, of course I made blueberry cookies for everyone"

Next it was next to the costumes

Hello :) I've just started following your blog but been an admirer of it for a while. I would like your opinion on something Mile Apo related. I watched their old interviews today as KP was finished filming and promo. They were so playful and flirty, it's incredible and lovely to see. Their concerts are full of cute MA bits as well. I just wondered in their daytime trips today, we don't get much selfies of those two now when they're not working which is something we used to get, it's now Apo with other particular cast i.e. Bible or Build. Do you think the MA friendship has changed over the pat few months into being not as close but still friends?

Regarding your question, I don't really feel my opinions are ever that interesting but I'll try to answer as best as I can.

Honestly, I think the MileApo fandom reads wayyyy to much into any interactions MA have with other people! This is a large cast, with all guys between the ages 18-30, and from what I can tell, they're all great friends, after everything they've been through to get this show made, not to mention the world tour 💖

MA have talked about the fact that they don't want to share selfies they take because to them they are very personal photos, meant for only them. We do get selfies when they're promoting the show or other products, but I honestly believe they have hundreds or even thousands of selfies and photos of each other on their phones, considering how much time they spend together, (and Apo seems to be constantly taking pictures of Mile 🥰)

I saw people on twitter talking about what you mentioned, that they didn't interact much today... but considering how much time they spent together lately, rehearsing for the concert, and all the promoting they've been doing lately, I'd say it's completely normal for them to want to catch up with all their other friends when they have time off.

I do think their friendship has changed in the last few months, and I think it has changed for the better. I feel like at the beginning, they got along amazingly well, but they were still a bit nervous around each other. Whereas now they're so comfortable with each other, and know each other sooo well, it's okay for them to not be joined at the hip 24/7, they always know at the end of they day they'll be there for the other if they need them.

There is not a single doubt in my mind that they love each other, (platonically or romantically idk and idc, that's their business and not ours) no matter what some trolls out there say, that their interactions are scripted??? lmao what a joke!!!

This month, I'm doing Craft Bingo over at Dreamwidth! I generated myself a bingo card and I've been using the prompts as warmups.

I'm a little nervous about crossposting them here because they're not really polished or picked over for characterization, but to heck with it. I'll share the ones I end up liking a bit.

Bingo Card: Craft Bingo 2024 Prompt: Drawing

Fandom: Batman vs TMNT Wordcount: 787 Summary: Mikey and Raph sign Donnie's cast. Warnings: None

"Mikey, if you don't move your shell, I'm gonna move it for you!"

"Okay, okay, hold on," Michelangelo, leaning over the table upon which Donatello's cast-covered arm was currently splayed, had his tongue stuck out as he concentrated hard on whatever he was drawing. A variety of markers in every color imaginable were scattered haphazardly on the table; some had already rolled off onto the floor.

Donnie didn't seem to notice the mess; he was currently scrunched in a chair with his knees folded up and his toes curling over the seat's edge, typing away on his phone with a single-minded focus, lost in his own little world. Only the slight hint of a frown betrayed whatever he was feeling at the moment.

(Barbara. They'd been back from Gotham for less than a day, and Donnie had barely stopped. I need to get a photo of this project for Barbara, Barbara had some suggestions for our patrol schedule, did you know Barbara installed a real-time sample analyzer in her motorcycle? Jeez, why didn't he just marry her already?)

"Nope, time's up!" Raphael set his hand on Mikey's head and pushed down until only the very top curve of green scales was visible over the rim of his plastron.

"Heeeeeeey," Mikey whined, his voice echoing around the inside of his shell. "I need my eyes to see so I can finish my masterpiece! No one treated the original Michelangelo like this!"

Donnie raised his head and inhaled sharply, sensing an opportunity to infodump like an Irish Setter sensing a bird. "Actually-"

"Quit your whining, Mike, and go get ready for patrol. I just need to sign his cast and then we can get outta here," Raph interjected quickly, tapping Mike's shell firmly with his knuckle a couple of times for emphasis.

"Aww. Fine." Mikey popped his head up and dropped the marker in his hand. It rolled sadly across the table, just barely stopping before it would have tipped over the edge. "But I'm gonna finish as soon as we get back, okay Donnie? So don't go anywhere. This bad boy's gonna be in the MOMA once it comes off."

"Not going anywhere. I hate, hate, hate broken arms," Donnie grumbled at his phone.

As soon as Mikey slid out of the seat, Raph dropped in, grabbing a red marker with the intent to scratch his name across one of the few remaining blank spots. Before he could, though, Donnie raised his gaze from his phone and cut in, a little hesitant, trying and failing to sound casual. Quiet, like he didn't want Mikey overhearing the request and making a stink.

"Hey, I was wondering... could you... draw Mr. Turtle? Only if you want to, I mean."

Mr. Turtle. Raph hadn't thought about that in ages. When they were kids, he'd gone through a phase where he'd wanted to become a comic book artist, and he'd started his own little comic strip with a turtle protagonist. It had been clumsy, pointless and meandering, but his brothers had loved it, eating up every strip. Leo had collected them all in a little crate in his room. Were they still there?

He hadn't drawn much since. He had a lot of other hobbies to take up his time. Turns out living the life of a mutated ninja turtle teenager could keep you pretty busy.

"...Why?"

Donnie shrugged his opposite shoulder. "I don't know, I kinda liked that little guy. I thought he was cute. You used to draw all the time, but I can't think of the last time I saw you doing it."

Raph frowned. "It's been, what, eight years? Pretty sure it's gonna suck."

Donnie flashed him a small smile before his attention settled back on his phone. "Didn't you hear? This thing's going in the MOMA. They'll eat it up."

Heh. Fine. Raph twirled the red marker in his grip, thinking through the shape he was about to draw. "Don't say I didn't warn you, Don, but sure."

Four minutes later, Mike bounced back into the room, all geared up for patrol. He leaned over the table to see Raph finishing up the last strokes on his little turtle doodle.

"Hey!! That's where my rocketship was gonna go!"

Raph turned around in his seat and grabbed Mikey in a headlock, using the marker to quickly swipe a red mustache along Mike's snout, the ink bleeding brown against the green of his scales. "Too bad, I had a request!"

"He did," confirmed Donnie, who was already snapping photos of both his decorated cast and Mikey's new mustache. "I wanted him to do Mr. Turtle. And he did a great job."

Today, the OOL team unknowingly gave us more fuel to clown ourselves and released the footage from when they celebrated GG’s birthday with the crew. This was back 10.5.2019. It’s not a secret, GG shared photos from that time before. Web also posted a birthday greeting to him on Weibo:

Now let’s look at all the candies. I don’t even know where to start. I tried to put everything in here but I’m pretty sure that i’ll still miss something especially the obscure interpretations. so let’s go! ✌🏼

• Kepler - In this video, we see the cast and crew sing that song to him instead of the usual happy birthday. Everyone knows of his love for Stefanie Sun and this song in particular because he sang it live before during the Untamed fanmeet and it obviously holds a special meaning to him. This song had always been connected to BJYX and with good reason— especially because we saw in the BTS that xiao zhan sang it to Web’s face. Kepler to GG is what Nanhai is to Web at that particular timeline. It just goes to show how the crew of OOL knew that— but them knowing it’s other significance to GG and BoXiao? Well, your guess is as good as mine. There is something about the 2018 timeline when not everyone knew his love for this song except Web and most likely the Untamed Crew. Now everyone knows, but there is only one person he sang it to in private.

I don’t wanna read too much into GG’s reaction but he was surprised/confused which is so funny to me.

@jcisthebestfightme made an excellent analysis of this song way back and it’s a good refresher or starter if you don’t know what’s all the fuss.

• Shiba Inu - GG shared a photo of the cake given to him that day. It featured Gu Wei / A Cat / A Dog and some other ornaments related to the drama. It also has his name on it. Pretty cute birthday cake. I’ve already mentioned in yesterday’s post the rumor about them wanting to have a dog. A Shiba Inu to be exact. In the bts video, he even called the dog figurine “a handsome chaichai”. He really liked to have a dog at that time!

It fits. You have this 10/5/2019. Then 10/15/2019 XZ studio released the 1 million followers benefit video where they asked him to choose between jianguo or a shiba inu and he chose both. Then 10/23/2019 he did the OOL interview where he chose a dog instead of a cat. So this proves what kind of mindset he had in that timeline. Even going as far as to say that if you wanna flirt him you should adopt a cat or a shiba inu.

He wants a dog. He wanted it and thought about it even earlier than that. during filming of Jade Dynasty ( 2018 to Jan 2019) GG said he really wanted to have a Shiba Inu but he decided not to get it because he knows he can’t take care of it. This aligns with what Web said in his Super Elle April 2020 interview about wanting a dog, look, they have the same reasoning:

WYB: I extremely like little animals! I like cats and dogs, I want to have a big dog. Recently, I've been watching doberman videos online, i really like it. But because I often go out for work, so i can't have it for the time being.

They are such responsible animal parents. They won’t get one only to ignore it.

Bonus Yibo who was asked in TTXS how he sees himself @ 40 years old. with a child and a dog. No mention of a woman. He wasn’t close to GG at this time so it makes sense that a cat is not yet added.

I mentioned all the versions of them having a dog so, Here are some points:

- They fostered a Shiba Inu together. Looks like it was a trial run for them.

- One of the fake rumor said something about feeding a cucumber to the shiba inu. Guess who did it? 🤣🤣🤣

- It was brought on set (2020).

They are in the same wavelength. Wanting to take care of a cat and a dog, their own little family. I believe they want the same things both in their personal lives and career even to this day and that’s why their relationship remains strong.

• The Cake - I won’t post the photo here and I can’t see it anymore ( damn weibo ) so it might have been deleted. Treat this as fake okay: There is a photo inside Web’s car, like a fan who was taking pictures and captured it— and it looks like this cake. The colors match, the designs are not there yet but I think those things get added when they set up the cake onsite. Maybe he had it delivered. We don’t know. None of this is real. 🙃

• Hui ge - I made a post about it instead of waiting to include it here cause I just CANNOT. basically, he posted a cat and a dog ( shiba inu ) days before that cake made an appearance on set. If you don’t know him, he is a BXG fansite and a longtime fan of GG. I made a short post about him cause an Anon asked. BXGs think that he is part of GG’s team because he seems to know things about GG.

Most recent one is where he got a photo of an empty ADLAD hall , that time he had official looking photos from adlad backstage that xzs nor the theater posted and a fan sharing a message he sent that said “the clinic is open” days before OOL airing was announced.

Also if you noticed GG’s headband during the birthday, it was a “crown” like the little prince. 👑 Can you guess what Hui ge posted that day back in 2019? 👇🏼 Looks like he was giving us clues and we only got it years later.

I know how I warn everyone of “fans” who act like they are an insider because it’s 99.99% probably from a sisheng video or photo but Hui-ge seems to be a different breed and that’s why BXGs like him. He does not post melon-like things or directly say things that he’s with GG or Web. He posts photos only short captions that people find out is connected to BJYX months or years later. He is very low key and obviously knows that we should protect the boys first.

• GG’s kadian - You can throw everything away from this whole post but this one is just too strong. The OOL drama weibo account posted the behind the around 4:00 PM, but GG decided to share photos from that time @ 18:33. Wow. Yibo - Zhan Zhan. Yes. Captain, we get it. He’s just so loud! 😂 why this time? He could have posted an hour after the drama account’s post or around 8:00 when OOL airs. But no. He deliberately used this time.

I like one BXGs interpretation of it. with the whole cast and crew singing to him but GG is all : "Many people love me, but I only love you, and I'm willing to tell everyone that I love you." 🥲🥲

and his comment with a meme in this post. oath of love = life = happy = good support. He was making a point to say that it was “support” of the crew and nothing more. ✌🏼

• Distracted? - This is a GIF from YZ’s birthday celebration and look at him looking distracted and texting. It’s not like he was on the side, everyone was there — even the cake and they were all waiting. This was also the last day of OOL filming. He was ready to leave, BXGs at that time said he had his luggage packed up and ready. You know what’s interesting? He only posted his “last day” the next day which is 11/7 ( both oasis and weibo ) . Ace is that little fucker who pushes stuff off of tables and shelves, and Deuce is a rescued street cat who used to fight a bunch but is tryna be on his best behaviour (and he once thought he could incubate eggs from the store and would keep stealing them. He was very upset when he accidentally dropped one)

Cater (hehe) is the biggest fan of cameras. Whenever you pick up your phone, you have a happy little tabby in your face wanting them to take pictures of him. Riddle is the one who yells at the big human at feeding times, insisting that everyone follow the rules and the routine... At least he keeps the others in line. And Trey is one of the more chill cats, sitting nearby whenever MC cooks or bakes something, and sitting by the oven to watch whatever's in there cook.

Leona is the obligatory lazy lil shit, always easy to find sleeping where the sun hits the ground and turns it into a cozy warm spot to sunbathe. He's often bothered by Ruggie, who can tend to sneak out of the house and be found with some stray cats and kittens (usually giving them food pilfered from anyone unfortunate enough to let the cheeky bugger get too close while they're eating.)

And Jack, who tends to act a bit more like a dog than a cat, but he's got spirit! He's often seen with the other younger ones (first year gang)

Then there's the twins. They adore the water and it baffles everyone who witnesses them break into the fish tank to paddle around a little bit. Floyd tends to be clingy, and loves to do the evil little cat thing where they're like: 'ah yes, you may pat my belly... NOW DIE BY MY CLAWS'

On the other hand... Jade is also a nightmare. He can be difficult to find sometimes (especially when he needs to go to the vet after eating a questionable mushroom...) and, as I just mentioned, has a habit of eating mushrooms when he finds them. Luckily it seems like he may at least know what ones to avoid, but it's been the source of many panic-induced frenzies.

And Azul, who seems to be somewhat picky with his food at times. You still have pictures of him as a plump little kitten, although it was mostly the fluffy fur that made him seem so round. He managed to get the nickname 'little ocropus' when he claimed his favourite hidey hole, a cat bed designed to look like an octopus pot. (sometimes it's difficult to lure him out though...)

Both of you like to tease each other. He likes to put his hand on your inner thigh and he flexes a lot and even runs his long fingers against your jaw as he gives your a forehead a kiss. You like to scratch the back of his head and tracing his back muscles since his skin gets covered in goosebumps, and you like keeping him on his toes when you tell him another celebrity crush you have

He gets jealous over the celebrity crush thing but says, "you'll be my plus one to every single event. Not theirs."

Birthdays and Holidays are the perfect time for you both to challenge each other with who will give the better gift. At the end, it's very easy to remember that it's the thought that counts and you both love each other (he does get mad at himself for not thinking about a memory box. But you did. He gets excited to know that you two are going make so many more memories with each other. When the time comes and box gets filled, he will make you one)

When he gets asked, "what do you look in a girl?" in a interview, he looks at the camera and says you're name and sinks into the chair as his cast mates make fun of his "young love puppy face" and the audience 'awwws'

I like your blog and reading your itk information. Some blogs are so toxic its hard to really appreciate anything on them. I love Jared and Jensen and wish I could go to a con to meet them. Just curious what are they like in person and do you have any cute stories about fan interactions with them.

I don't even know where to begin because they are so amazing. I've had a lovely time with all of the cast at cons, but J2 are no exception, even though they are often super busy with their schedules.

Photo ops last literally seconds and the whole thing goes by so fast, but I've had great experiences with them every con.

At my first con, I was there alone for Friday and Saturday because my friend had a work emergency and couldn't get in until Sunday. I made friends with other fans and asked them for photo op ideas.

They suggested I get a hug, particularly a sandwich hug. It's when J2 are on either side of you (& a friend). I've seen photos of my friend with J2, but she's cute and had been to a lot of cons. I was a stranger and a dude. I didn't know how J2 would react to getting a hug from someone like me.

My friend wanted to hug Jensen, so I figured I would see if Jared wanted to share a hug. Wanting to make sure I had his full consent, I asked him for "whatever level hug he felt comfortable giving".

He said, "level 10, babe, level 10" and gave me such a squishy hug that, when we shared the photos with family, my partner's aunt was worried what I was doing in such an intimate embrace with a strange man.

I used to be very intimidated by Jensen because of his grumpy persona and he's just so... Jensen. I don't know how to explain it other than he's just so perfect. I always admired and respected Jensen, but it took me a few cons to see the softer, sillier side of Jensen. He once said, "That's a cool shirt" to me in such a high pitched voice, I wouldn't have believed it if someone else had recorded it and said it was Jensen.

I've seen them all dancing in between photo ops. Not a word of a lie, at a Jacksonville Con, I saw J2 dancing and singing to Toto's Africa. My sister and I were singing along to it too well before we saw them. We get around the barrier and see J2 also rocking out to it. They were making grand dramatic gestures while singing it to each other and to the con volunteers.

Every single con I've had a great experience with J2. They smell so good. If you stand outside the photo op room, people will come out of it and cry because they are just so happy about getting to hug/pose with them. I once saw an extremely beautiful young woman, who looked like a professional model, just melting down over getting a sandwich hug from J2. If you can get a sandwich hug, do it!

I've paid for people to go to cons on GA. If you are in the Orlando area, I'm looking for someone to go to the con and ask questions since Bob Singer will be there.

The 10 year change of JK and Anime style

My latest watch in my quarantine marathon has been KyouSougigi, a 2011 anime that's bombastic and quirky. The world was so hyperactive, I thought it was a gainax (the trigger part) project.

But as the main character Koto had pulled out her weapon decorated with two big plush mascot straps, I was suddenly catapulted into a hyperstate of nostalgia. I never thought a phone strap would be nostalgic.

I'd like to pause a minute just to show off my beloved phone that I used at that time:

Granted, I didn't use these accessories yet. I desperately wanted anime phone straps since 2005 but bizarrely I didn't get one until 2011 when my pucho included a small dragonfruit character who didn't make it very long. However, in 2012, I was a new city living college student with no limitations and I. Went. Ham. Fake food, squishy bread, and stuffed plush, I had it all. My phone was now properly twice it's weight in charms. I was living to the then dream of every JK Gal wannabe.

The world changes so unexpectedly in only 7 or 8 years.

Life does, that's not a boomer complaint. But the 180 in Japanase High Schoolers is something I don't think an 18 year old me would have considered. The image I had grown alongside was that of was short skirts, bleached hair, tons of accessories, bright colors, cardigans, long statement nails and as previously talked about, excessively decorated (flip) phones. Excessive is a good word for it. Even though the looming influence of smartphones phased away the strap loop, bags were still prime keychain holders and decoden phone cases where a trending style. Things did change with tech changes but this had been a general look for nearly 15 years. And yet, here we are now.

First of all I'd like to point out there's very few High School centric anime out right now. Especially not many in the last 3 years (albeit I refreshed myself by skimming Crunchyroll). This isn't so much that anime doesn't use high school age protagonists going into high school, but that school has little in effect of the story. The only notable example of HS anime in 2020 have been Fruits Basket, A Certain Scientific Railgun, Kaguya-Sama, and Eikouken, the first two happen to also be visually cemented in previous eras. So let's look at the other two as well as BNHA since it technically is also a school anime. Character design isn't uniform but it's pretty subdued. In all three of these, nearly every character wears their uniform to dress code standard. Out of the whole BHN cast, Bakugo is the only one to wear his uniform differently, aside from that I'd only consider Denki and Kirashina to have flashy hair. Now this isn't to say that characters don't personalize themselves but rarely is it in focal ways. Style seems to has been delagated to exclusively footwear, backpacks, and sometimes headwear. Again, no one really does a flashy design for hair. There isn't a lot of curling or dyed hair (even if it's colorful, it may still be their natural hair color) and styling is kept to simple ponytails. Every so often a character my wear an alternative pair of shoes or tights instead of knee highs but the only really expression is their backpacks. In some ways that's funny because it was previously one of the uniform elements. The school standard duffle seems to have been replaced by stylish bags, something that could be overlooked depending on how often they're worn (not that often).

If I had to describe how high school life is portrayed now, it's mature. Minimalism is, well, a big thing. When I see JK life, it tends to have a clean look, class president like almost, the appeal seems to be a contrast in the white of the blouse against a dark blue or black. Shows don't seem to want to break a jewelish natural pallette. Also track, track seems really big right now in high school stories, don't ask me why. I think another part of this is that the shoujo norm of light hearted stories focused on fashion and boyfriends seems to now be more about bittersweet dramas. The full blown pastel romantic comedy has a lot of niche focus, wotakei for example. Where naming all the 'I'm a high school girl with one major quirk and this is my wild romance with my boyfriend with wacky hijinks and extreme reactions' shows would be hard to do during the era I was in high school, it's hard to think of many now.

In a similar way, I feel the atmosphere of animation has evolved. Let me start by saying anime is gorgeous now. Backgrounds are paintings, sakuga is everywhere and it's been so long since wispy hair detail meant garrish lines. That being said, my one boomer comment is maybe that it's too good. The statement that "Anime looks amazing but also seems to always be in the same style." could be applied to both ends of the 2010s. Kyoto animation had been the studio, popularizing school girls doing cute things, their style of moe character design, and a style of referential that had to be seen (this also was something brought to further focus by makoto shinkai). Anime almost seemed to suddenly elevate with more carefully drawn backgrounds and honed use of lighting effects. After effects in the digital of anime used to go absolutely unused or where extremely forefront. You can really feel the differences in series like Toradora, Gurren Laggan, Anohana. They were just so polished. Unfortunately, we kept trying to polish. Every major series sans shonen has gone deep into polish but it's removed a lot of the edges in the process. Fruits Basket had a distinctive style that was kept through to it's first anime but is completely gone in the remake for something that's more generic.

I'm applying some tunnel vision to this but anime has veered more mature and graceful. Like the inverse of the JK girl from the flashy gal look to the mature and uniform, anime has flipped from bombastic and expressive to gorgeous but retrained. It wasn't just the plush straps that was so nostalgic in Kyousougiga (remember when this was the whole point?) But the cartoonish designs and secure personality of the characters. It's hard to fully put my finger fully on what it is but that loud personality doesn't seem to be around much anymore. The spectrum seems stuck to very distinct flavours of Deep Introspection or Comedic Dumbassery in terms of personality. The majority of the former can almost be stressful, the character is almost always troubled by the state of their situation. The early 2010s almost felt unburdened in their burdens. For instance, Koto is trapped in a magical world, all she wants is to get home and the world is kinda hostile to her. Even still, she is smiling, goofing, and even has a friendly relationship with her foes. It's a 'This sucks!' not as much as 'This isn't good..'. Studio Trigger, the part of Gainax that popularized that rouge-ish goofy cast has been somewhat of the only one to keep that up. Even then they lost that energy a little bit with Kiznaiver and Darling in the Franxx. Of course, this is also all processed through my experience now as an adult who has a lot more concerns. The taste of nostalgia is so sweet, I can almost feel youth flow back into me at the sight of a feature phone. Even as I try to finish this long detour from my anime watch, the urge to recapture that feeling of being 17 is a powerful drug. Its a mixture of a lot of senses, the feeling of wearing my mock school uniform and using a big purse like a school duffle, learning pixiv, becoming a little more stylish but still keeping an eye on Japanese fashion, becoming a little more independent and active in my interests, and the untroubled comfort of my desires. It's funny that 17, a defining year in my life, happens to be the same year this came out. All in that year, I took piano classes, learned how to use a DSLR camera, started to cosplay, and began to learn Japanese. It was the year I stopped being an outcast without trying to be someone, the year I saw my first concert, the year I learned about Boba and BB cream, the year I was really infatuated with this guy but probably also my female friend, the year I became to determined to get dual citizenship (goodbye to that chance), the year I started on tumblr, it was just a year that I knew who I wanted to be. I've actually come near around to that feeling again recently so I won't let the nostalgia haunt me too much. But man, I'm really for late 00s fashion to come back. I want the cute accessories back, the cheesy photos you'd take and share for fun, and for thrown together looks.

TV interviews were never your thing, you always felt uncomfortable, out of place and you always felt you were repeating the same answers over and over again. Promoting your work was something you never really enjoyed, you loved interacting with fans but it was the constant long hours that had you overtired and sometimes making you look and sound like a moody hag, you enjoyed most but some not so much. After finishing the last few scenes of Avengers 4 you were free for a few months before the dreaded press tour started. I know what you're all thinking, “ she should be more grateful “, you were and you loved your job but sometimes you wanted a few months to yourself. Well it didn't happen, you just happened to share it with someone you fell in love with a very long time ago. Whole heartily you loved the man lying next to you, he made you feel something you hadn't felt before, the connection between the two of you was electric, the chemistry was out of this world. The last few months felt like a world wind, trying to keep everything under wraps, you both didn't want to announce anything as you wanted to keep things private to make things more personal, being in a relationship as an actress was hard enough but with another actor was worse.

Waking up in New York was your favorite thing to do, you loved the city that never sleeps so much you decided to move here a few years back. The sun setting on the skyline at night was just breathtaking and the site of Central Park was just beautiful. You rolled out of bed, 4am in the morning ready for your 50th interview live on TV, baring in mind you hadn’t had much sleep thanks to a certain someone. His hands wrapping around your waist, pulling you back into a sweet embrace. You managed to keep things on the down low but It was only a matter of time some paparazzi was going to finally catch you two together. You were trying to make the most of your time together as after your press tour he was shooting off to the set of MIB.

Gathering both of your things, you set off to your first interview. The travel there was a smooth ride, one thing you loved was driving across the Brooklyn Bridge, the scenery was just amazing. You being you, kind of accidentally snoozing on the way there but you had a good armrest. Stirring, you opened your eyes to the view of his smile you loved so much “ we’re here baby “ he whispered in your ear to which you replied snuggling into his neck. After a few more scheduled interviews you were due on Tonight with Jimmy Fallon with Chris Pratt, Chris Evans, Tom Hiddleston, Mark Ruffalo and Chris Hemsworth, one interview you loved, Jimmy was hilarious and you honestly enjoyed every minute you were there.

Waiting backstage waiting to go on, you felt his arms wrap around your waist, spinning you around he planted a small peck on your lips. “ Good Luck baby “  “ as long as I've got you by my side, I’ve all the luck I need “ and with a quick kiss back you were on, hearing Jimmy’s voice echoing around the studio

“ You all know them as Captain America, Hulk, Thor, Loki, Peter Quill and y/c/n so let me please welcome half of the Avengers back with us tonight, come out guys “ Jimmy announced all of your names with you all walking out, waving to the screaming audience. Hugging Jimmy, you smiled sitting down right in between Evans & Pratt giving them a shy smile, god you were nervous.

“ Welcome back guys, great to see all again, so last time you couldn’t give anything away about Infinity War and of course y/n hadn't joined the cast, Welcome by the way, I bet this is a little bit surreal for you “ Jimmy smiled, aiming the question your way. You shifted in your seat brushing yourself down ready to answer.

“ a little bit but they’re all like family now and I wouldn’t change it for the world. Walking onto set the first time was just amazing especially everyone in their full avenges kit was really surreal but they made me so welcome and I can’t thank them enough. Thanks guys, I love you all so much “

“ I love you too “ Ruffalo spoke first with the audience set off in laughter.

“ wait, I thought you just loved me, you promised “ Pratt give you his puppy dog eyes dropping his head, making you smile.

“ wait we all know she loves Cap the most “ Evans said moving his arms around your shoulders pulling you in closer.

“ come on guys, I have room for all you “ you laughed it off. Sitting back looking around at everyone laughing at themselves. You couldn’t believe you were finally apart of the Avengers family & come on you had most of them fighting over your affection but you only had eyes for one. The interview went on until you were pulled out of your daze when Jimmy asked you about working with Hemsworth as his love interest.

Rose raised in a society that would expect her to act very high and mighty and violently would absolutely 100% end up “holier than thou” snobbish and drop-of-a-hat violent. I hate to say it but Rose would not end up anything like Gamzee in canon she would be a MENACE she would be society’s expectations for a indigo/purpleblood to a t. Having a Seagoatmom that’s never really around to give her any kind of emotional support or make her feel loved would only make her feel more angry at the world and feed into her violence. Like this is a girl who as a HUMAN with a mom who loved her, just was drunk, stuck NEEDLES INTO AN OGRE’S EYES AND RODE IT DOWN A WATERFALL like Rose as a troll of this caste would be HORRIFYING. She’s rich, nobody ever tells her no, there’s a cult that appeals to her because it’s that weird sort of horrifying Rose is into and also it’s something meant for her (Rose would probably favor the more violent aspects of it, that Gamzee didn’t really pay attention to). The kind of person who would MUCH rather pick a fight with someone who is wrong, than educate someone about what is actually right. Very stuck up kind of smarts, and she IS smart. She’s brilliant in every pursuit she takes. She’s just very privileged and buys into the rhetoric that tells her that she’s special, that she’s important, primarily because it fits well with what she wants but also because having a lusus that has abandoned her makes her desperate to find that validation that she IS important anyway and any place she can. Hot mess of a girl, surprising no one. As Seer of Rage, her quest is about her learning that there are CONSEQUENCES to her actions. And it is an ugly, messy personal journey that she does not want to have to deal with. Her fury, her destruction, her violence, her willingness to tear down the world if it does not suit her own wants and needs, those are admirable qualities, sure, when used PROPERLY. And Rose has been using them for malice. She’s been cruel. And now she has to see the results of her actions and emotions laid out in plain and it sucks. No one really likes being confronted with the things about themselves that aren’t good. But she must learn how to use her Rage for good purposes, and she must see the results of her fury, should she act on it. Visions of friends, hurt by her own hands, flashes of the future showing that she is WRONG, they’re not fun, but they’re useful, and she learns how to better herself. How to become someone who can balance her own nature with things like love and compassion, which takes the help of her friends, of course, but also holding herself accountable. John likely helps out with that, quite a lot. 

Dave Peixes, local hipster rich kid who likes hip new trends like “being nice to people” and “not killing each other.” He’s a giant weenie he probably doesn’t have designs on the throne, but he also very likely doesn’t do the shit we see Trizza do where he actually, like, RULES anybody. He defo has like 50000 social media platforms and lots of people follow him bc, wow, fuchsia blood, and he thrives off the attention bc yesssssss he IS cool and tyrian and important pay attention to him! There is no force on this earth or the next that is gonna stop that boy from wanting people to pay attention to him and being rich and extremely important and the only person in his entire blood caste is not going to put ANY brakes on that particular operation. Catch him taking selfies and using “alternative” paints on his nails. Like and reblog his cool scenic underwater photos and shore-side panoramas. Having a horrorterror as a lusus is nice, on one hand, because the giant writhing ball of noise and otherworldly fright loves him, but on the other hand he’s a soft dumb boy and he would REALLY hate having to feed her! Dave does not want to interact with things that are dangerous/deadly/sharp he doesn’t like that! He’d be very effected by having to kill things in order to take care of her, it’d affect his psyche very poorly. As Knight of Life, he’d be probably quite excited about being able to protect the living instead of having to kill things for his lusus. The prospect would also probably be pretty daunting, though, because he’s not used to that? He doesn’t know how? What is he doing. Having actual, legitimate responsibilities would be new for this very spoiled boy, and scary at first, but he’d get better and grow into it well. Being a swimmer, he’d end up very physically strong, and living in the deep waters of the Alternian ocean, he would have pretty quick reflexes, and if you know anything about me you know I like sea dwellers with big ol’ earfins and lots of freckles so please picture that and think about how cute he would be.

John Leijon would probably start out in a cave, get real depressed and lonely there, and move into a city, which would be a big culture shock and Catdad would probably take some adjustment ((”no you cannot eat the neighbor’s birdlusus I don’t care if it would be tasty, you Can’t.”)) but ultimately it would be for the best. His lusus loves him dearly and encourages him to always do his best, and growing up around a bunch of other trolls in a hivestem and being on the lower edge of middle class would be pretty pleasant, as far as Alternian pleasantries can go. Gets along with other trolls REALLY well! John’s got a pretty inborn social intelligence, even if he can seem dense sometimes, but this social smarts is a HIGHLY valuable commodity amongst trolls, who are raised to be far more close to the chest with their friendliness and emotions. John might start out seeming like a trick, and to be fair he does like practical jokes, but eventually he becomes the hivestem’s “This is John. He’s a little bit of an idiot but we love him and if anything happens to him literally every single member of this hivestem WILL kill you” and John just laughs and waves in the background bc wow, his neighbors are so theatrical! What a fun group. It’s so nice living in the city now. As Heir of Heart, his role is to literally embody emotions and the soul. People are not wrong when they say John Leijon has a lot of soul, that he’s got a big heart, he’s a loving boy who leaps at the opportunity to show that love. Ngl he probably has a crush on Dave in this. Just sayin. JohnRose is also a thing that I am thinking definitely happens in this. 

Jade Captor! Lower-class, but on the upper edge, could definitely die but isn’t LIKELY to. Probably has a sorta fatalistic sense of humor where she’s like “I’m gonna do the thing” “That could go wrong” “Then I’ll die :D” Probably gets really angry about the hemospectrum and how it doesn’t even make SENSE. Grrrrr!!!!!!!!! >:( She lives in a hivestem around bunches of other people LIKE SHE DESERVES!!! Maybe she and John even live in the same hivestem later on :D That would be so fun! They could be besties, like Aradia and Tavros were, but like they’d live in the same area so they could see each other every night :D She probably has a lot of close encounters with her own death and laughs them off because living in a hell society builds up that kind of casual PTSD. She gets very good at navigating danger though, because she’s an energetic girl with a short fuse and a loving but not particularly inclined to discipline lusus, and she can’t really keep herself out of trouble. Turns out to be a pretty useful life skill as the Witch of Doom, where her whole thing is navigating death and fate and misery and stuff. According to the canon extended zodiac quiz page, Doom is about empathetic sharing of misery, which would make Jade more of a listener, not a fixer, which, yeah, I can see her ending up that way. Life on Alternia sucks ass my dudes, and as someone in a lower caste there wouldn’t be a whole lot she could actually do to change anything, but by god she resents it, and she’s 100% willing to listen to you if you wanna talk about your problems. Probably resents the Aspect of Doom at first until she realizes that Witches are people who can change their Aspect, and then probably gets more into it. Because I am a sucker for Life/Death motifs, she and Dave are definitely very close friends, I’m gonna say moirails

Opening Up

Clare: made a face. “Sounds like a punishment. Was she trying to educate you or prove some point? I don’t think my mom is willing to go there. She answered some questions I had last year and it was actually more uncomfortable for her.” She nodded when Kota mentioned Skins. “Oh right, I have watched Skins and Game of Thrones is another one full of nudity. I don’t mind cute boy butts but I could do without gratuitous sex scenes.” Clare closed her eyes when it got to be too much. “I like crab so that would be okay. Not necessarily! I eat seafood just not fish. I won’t be the only one. Someone else will try it and not like it.” Clare protested. What were the odds a group of Canadians were all going to love raw fish? She couldn’t even stomach fried fish! “I’m fine with cooking it though. I’ve never thrown up from the smell alone.” She smiled at the mention of having weekends without Emi. “I hope she doesn’t forget about us.” Clare chuckled knowing how many friends Emi had left behind in Japan. She talked about them a lot. “Can I demand date nights?” Clare asked curiously. “Good point. I place more importance on stuff like kissing and cuddling since it’s all we’re doing right now. K.C did not.” She shrugged. “I wouldn’t kiss another guy unless it was part of an act. Probably not even to make you jealous.” Clare hoped she wouldn’t have a reason to test that theory. “Of course I’d like to be a waitress! Thanks.” She gave exaggerated groan at Kota’s insistence it was cute. “No way.” Clare looked at her boyfriend in askance. “I have to keep track of how much money I’m spending! Somewhat at least. Dad’s not going to ask for receipts, it will just show up somewhere. Credit card statements, how much I withdraw from his bank account…” Her voice trailed off. “If you’re talking about buying me clothes, fine, I promise not to. I’ll trust you not to spoil me. What?!” Clare squealed in horror at the mention of dead turtles and other unthinkable things. There was no telling whether or not Emi’s mom would come back for her. If Emi left, she’d miss her and hope for visits. “I don’t want to hide our relationship. Not forever. We have to get them on board one step at a time. Then if they’re assholes about Emi...well. I’m not going to expose her to them. My parents wouldn’t have any problem with you raising your little cousin if you were in your 20s. They’re prejudiced against teenagers.” Clare grumbled. “I’m glad.” She whispered giving him one last lingering kiss. “Anything’s possible.” She insisted. “Kota being famous is news to me!” Clare nodded. “Ah. I’ve only been to Maine on ski vacations. I’m still working on going to New York. So my perspective is a bit skewed. Fashion’s dead last here. Kids at school still think they can just hassle Kota for Murder Bunny products. Music’s held in a higher regard.” She told Melanie. “Jimmy Fallon wears Murder Bunny? They do? Kota is?!” Clare looked like she’d been told the earth was flat after all. “Oh wow.” She looked at Kota as he explained about the fashion show and the lingerie line. She remembered the first time she slept over at his house and how Kota was baffled about Clare not wanting him to see her bra when she wasn’t even wearing it. He was desensitized. Her lips twitched as she suppressed hysterical laughter. Clare glared at her boyfriend a little at the mention of how he wouldn’t be touching model's breasts. There should never be a question of that. It wasn’t professional. The rest of it Clare had to accept must be part of his job as a designer. But she really, really didn’t like him seeing half naked women! After Melanie left to change, Clare continued to listen to Kota. Then gaped at the photo of Sia and the accompanying letter. “She’s so cute, I guess it really is her!” Not like Clare knew Sia’s handwriting. “Kota I don’t know what to say. Your life is crazy amazing.” She handed back his treasures. “You look great Melanie. It’s true. Our only local celebs are hockey players. West Drive films here and the cast is mostly left alone.” Clare walked hand in hand with Kota to his car. She got in and buckled. “The mall’s good. There’s a Chipotle, a few other restaurants, or the usual food court fare.” She had to meet Alli later, anyway.

Kota: looked at Clare. "It was to educate us, though the movie The Girl Next Door taught us more than American Pie did and I don't believe there was nudity in The Girl Next Door either." he shrugged. "I've never seen Games Of Thrones to be honest." He admitted and looked at her. "We will probably have crab because Emi loves it. Connor hates seafood, but he likes tofu they will substitute fish with tofu. The only ones going to Japan that actually like sushi are me and Eli." he stated honestly and nodded when Clare mentioned being fine with cooking fish. "She'll be with us on weekdays so she won't forget about us." he chuckled. "You can demand date nights and I'm glad you won't kiss another guy to make me jealous because if you did that, it wouldn't make me jealous it'd make me think we were over so please don't do that." he chuckled softly at her next words. "No problem and some of the stuff in Japan is going to be written in Japanese in most places, if that's the case I'll only tell you if it's something you're going to buy and not something I'm buying for you and yes, they eat turtles and sharks in Japan." he assured. "If that's the case with your parents I'll show them report cards from TU to show them I can handle both." He suggested and Mel looked at him when Clare mentioned him being hassled. "The guy I saw last night hearing the football jacket when I went to surprise you.." she trailed off. "Wasn't hassling me, he needed to talk. Not many people can hassle me for Murder Bunny at school anymore. I've been busy with some things during free periods." He confirmed. "Yes, he does." Mel said going through her phone and showing Clare a screen cap she took of Jimmy Fallon showing off his MB socks on his show by putting his foot on his desk and lifting a pant leg. "It's not really crazy amazing." He chuckled knowingly, there were things in school that he was mixed up in that he couldn't share with Clare. "Thank you." Mel said looking at Clare as she stood in her disguise. Hearing Clare mention the mall caused him to nod. "The mall it is." He chimed and drove to the mall. Right as he turned in, he noticed someone behind him and sighed before parking. Once he got out of the car he was met by Todd, the yearbook photographer. "Thank you." Todd said and Kota looked at him. "I don't want your thanks." He stated venomously as he walked to help Clare out. "You stopped Owen from killing me." Todd stated. "I didn't do it for you. I did it to keep Owen out of trouble. Had it been a different guy I would let him kill you. I'm totally not on your side." He said wrapping his arm around Clare's waist and walking with Mel. "I asked to go to Japan, Simpson said to talk to you. It's for yearbook." Todd added and Kota stopped dead in his tracks before turning to the boy. "Over my cold dead body. There's no way in Hell I'm letting you on my plane especially with a camera. Are you fucking stupid?" He fumed as Todd fidgeted as Kota started to walk away. "It was an accident. I didn't mean to." Todd yelled and Kota turned to him. "Prove it." He said holding his hand out and looking at Todd as he looked down. "What would you do with them?" Todd asked. "What do you think?" Kota questioned back and Todd shrugged suggestively as he looked down. "You sick fuck." He fumed as he clenched his fists and felt a hand on his shoulder to see Owen. "Clare is here, remember." Owen said reminding him. "Go with her and your friend. I'll deal with this piece of shit." Owen said and Kota walked to Mel and Clare. "Food, right?" he asked softly.
