As someone who has not one, but two members in my family who have service dogs, I have a couple pieces of advice if you want it.

1. If you want to make for some really incredible moments of life saving, you should have the dog be trained in medical alert and medical response (which takes additional training, but it’s amazing what medical response dogs can do when something happens to their handler.) For example, Cardiac Alert Service Dogs are dogs specially trained to detect any changes in the heart rate and the blood pressure of their handler. Once they recognize such a condition they warn their handlers through pawing, nudging, barking or another action. These dogs are also likely to notify a family member or lay down to prevent their handler from hurting themselves if they fall on the ground. Cardiac Response Dogs are trained to response to the handler’s needs after the event has occurred. The tasks that cardiac response dogs can perform are different. Some of them include: retrieving medication, calling 911, laying down along with their handler and comfort them, opening doors...etc.

2. If this dog is for a 6’0 male, make sure it’s a large dog. Especially if you want him to be able to manually assist Harry in an emergency - he needs to be large enough and have strength.

3. Don’t forget! As much fun as writing a cute, fun, playful family dog is, service dogs are not pets. They are working animals. They hardly ever leave their handlers side, they are always extremely calm, they don’t go running off to see or play with other people, and they are always very professional. They don’t react negatively if anyone tries to pet them/if children try to pull on their tail or ear. They’re doing a job, and usually the only person they have a connection with is their handler. They might form a bond with the spouse of their handler if they live and sleep together, but their person is their handler, and they don’t care much about other people to be honest.

So glad to hear soup is got his stitches removed.

You probably remember I'm allgeric to cats, and the fact I told you if cats lick them selfs a protein in their saliva attaches the hair the dander releases into the air and i sneeze.

I bring this up because i would suffer with my cat allergies everyday soup is so fucking cute.

So now that spring has sprung and the backyard is starting to turn green again, I’m really becoming frustrated with the general destruction my dogs wreak on our outdoor space. (For those of you who have beautiful, lush grass, what’s that like? That seems nice.)
