Thomas tries out a new anxiety medication. Pretty much as soon as it kicks in, Virgil starts yawning. After that, it's not long before he conks out, and when the other Sides try waking him up, he can't stay awake for long before he falls asleep again. Evidently the dosage was a bit high. He wakes up on his own, none the worse for wear, once it starts wearing off.

I'm so fucking mad

the earlier psychiatrist (stand-in at the facility) I saw for adhd halved my bupropion dose when she started me on methylphenidate, because she didn't want to have me on too much stimulants. ok.

then I asked for a dose increase on the methylphenidate, and had to see the current psychiatrist. she eliminated the bupropion entirely. I was hesitant about this and said as much.

predictably, this sucked, and I still don't think the methylphenidate is helping, so I was like, okay so never mind the ADHD treatment can I just go back to the way things were before.

she is only giving me the halved dose of bupropion back. for what reason??? I will not be on any additional stimulants??

she's like "oh we can always increase it later if necessary" and like. bitch we have already known for years what dose worked well for me. WHY do you want to spend time making my life worse to investigate a non-question

Hello fellow people who take ADHD medications:

How do y’all deal with the lack of appetite/food repulsion caused by the medication? Any advice helps!

More about my specific situation:

I’ll be honest, I’ve always struggled with having consistent weight, I gain and lose pretty easily. I’ve always struggled with eating ‘correct’ amounts of food and appetite. However, I don’t think I’d ever say I’ve had an eating disorder.

But since going on the meds I not only have little to no appetite but also I’m at times food repulsed. Like I will be on the verge of vomiting when putting food in my mouth(even for ‘safety foods’). I’m trying really hard to gain weight and I cannot do it the way I’m going, and I need this medication to keep going at academics(and daily life tbh). I don’t really have health care access so I’m stuck with the medication I’m on. Any suggestions or thoughts help!

Pre-AA, Thomas starts taking anxiety medication. The effects aren’t immediate, but it slowly does make a difference, and the first big milestone is a day when Virgil doesn’t show up for ages. Patton gets a little bit concerned-- concerned about why he’s not there, about whether he’s okay. Thomas remarks on how weird it feels that he hasn’t shown up at all yet, all day. Finally, at some point after noon, Virgil appears.

He’s just woken up, because for the first time in a long time, he didn’t get woken by a nightmare.
