Maedhros: Why? Why do you always have to forgive me? Why can't you just let me rot in despair and die? It would be better that way, you know. This is difficult for you. This won't make you happy. I won't - I can't make you happy. Why don't you just choose someone else and let me fade peacefully? I don't have anything, I don't even have the silmarils, I am bound to an oath, an oath no elven creature can fullfill, I am a disgrace and an abomination-
Fingon: *sighs* Take your meds, love. Here, drink some water. Have you eaten something today? Here, let me help you. Let's go outside for a walk, okay?

to add to the talk abt c!dream redemption and retributive violence/justice ive seen today:
a particular phenomenon that i've seen more than a few times that i'm particularly fascinated by is the assertion that fanworks that seek to "redeem" c!dream post-prison have "a bad message" because they rely on the false claim that torture is effective, that abuse can "fix" someone. the argument goes that a post-prison c!dream that is more "well-behaved" is harmful because the implication is that the abuse is what made him more agreeable, that violence has redemptive power--this is an argument i see quite often levied at syndicate!dream AUs and similar "healing arcs" in fanworks
(i've seen this argument used to speak of canon, as well, particularly to praise the ccs for "not falling into the trap" of making a so-called "abuse apologist" argument by having c!dream behave "better" after the prison--instead, they say he is portrayed to be "just as bad" after he leaves pandora's vault. personally i don't exactly agree that mr. hid in the prison all day was operating at exactly the same caliber of the guy who went from exile to doomsday to staged finale in the space of less than 2 months, but hey, what do i know)
interestingly enough, though, when you pick at these arguments a ltitle bit more...i think it's fair to say that they don't necessarily think that all violence is unnecessary. after all, the argument goes, simple kindness wouldn't have been enough to make c!dream change his mind pre-prison, so obviously if the same is able to convince him after the prison, then the creator has fallen into the same abuse apologist pitfalls that often end up in media with torture involved. but...in that comes the implication that in order to quote-unquote "redeem" c!dream, kindness never would and never will be enough. he has to be, to some extent, forced.
obviously, obviously, the prison arc was Too Much Violence. that amount of violence can't change his mind, that would be Bad Messaging. but to write him as being able to be convinced through more reasonable means is also abuse apologist-y, as it dares to assert that c!Dream's mind would be too broken by the abuse to the point where kindness would be able to win him over. obviously, this means that there's a redemption arc "sweet spot" of violence and/or coercion that can be used to change c!dream's mind despite his unwillingness (in an Ethical Manner, of course. plus or minus some suffering that is only deserved, because all good redemption arcs include some #Consequences, where the #Consequences don't really matter in terms of where they come from or why they happen as long as they live within the appropriately designated allotment of Redemption Arc Violence that is Allowed)
obviously.

I’m seeing a lot of people talk about the whole Team Bolas thing with very different opinions and like that’s fine as long as you’re being respectful! share your opinions all you want but I think it’s being turned into more of an issue than it actually is? Like yeah when creators who are going into Purgatory 2 are talking about the previous purgatory a lot of their chats recommend watching bolas clips etc but people seem to be ignoring that a lot of the ccs either know they won or ask which team won and THEN proceed to watch their pov. Loads of the new ccs are doing so because they want to see what the winning team did to win (which I do think probably isn’t going to help them a lot as there’s so many difference between both events I feel like the only useful things they’ll learn is to drink tea and what to do for the natural disasters but even so) and even when watching bolas compilations or povs they’re praising blue and green team plays.
Another thing people are upset with is the lack of animatics and things being watched for blue and green team. It’s sad to say but there just genuinely isn’t many out there compared to the amount that there is for red team so creators are inevitably going to end up watching more of red team but how is that anyone’s fault? Why be upset about people creating artwork of something THEY personally enjoyed? It wasn’t done out of hate towards the other teams like some people seem to want to imply? At that point you’re just beefing with artists because they decided to draw/animate something else than what you wanted to see? Everyone is free to create the artwork they want to see. Nobody is stopping anyone from creating fan work for the other teams and recommending it to the new ccs participating in Purgatory 2.
Something that I’m seeing a lot which is starting to irritate me is seeing people be like “NOBODY is watching anything to do with Blue or Green team” No, the bigger creators who pull more viewers or the creators that YOU personally watch might not be but plenty of the smaller creators have been looking into all of the teams. Seapeekay (who’s said himself that he’s a bit nervous about the fact he is going to be one of the less well known creators in the event) is literally right now as a type this watching the flag event from Tubbo’s pov (again because they won that event!!! It makes sense to watch the winner POVs when you’re trying to prepare for a competition) so maybe let’s not pretend that nobody out of the 40+ people involved are paying any attention to any team other than bolas when that is incorrect.
I watched as much as I could of all the teams (yes I watched more of bolas because foolish is my main pov) but all of the teams worked hard and tried their best and were fun to watch! You’re free to create any artwork you want of any team and if you didn’t enjoy watching red team and you don’t want to watch other creators watch them then just chill on a different stream in the meantime until they watch or do something you do want to see and when Purgatory 2 begins I’m sure some other type of discourse will inevitably begin and we can all just put this shit to rest.

“You don’t want to fall in love? That’s so sad. Don’t you want to be happy?” Well you see, my beloathed, I am happy already because I actually find joy in different things than you, since I am my own person with my own thoughts and experiences. I spent 10 minutes today watching a spider preen itself and I was having the time of my life. I have experienced joys that you will never understand, not because you are unable to but because you refuse to understand. So kindly fuck off.

Facts about Buffalo Bill (the historical figure)?
Buffalo Bill was an important figure in the American "Old West" and forms a very important part of how Americans see their past.
At the age of 11, he began his long and prominent career of killing people. He first served in Utah where he was supposed to be killing Mormons, but in the process he also killed a Native American, and found his calling. He killing countless people attempting to defend their homes, and also managed to slaughter animals by the thousands. He participated in contests to see who could kill he most, and won with over 65 dead buffalo in a few hours- Nothing compared to the tens of thousands more he managed to shoot and leave to rot each season.
Because of all this, he is regarded as a legendary American hero. Later in his life, he had many stage shows in which he would brag about all the people and buffalo he'd shot, and secured his status as an icon of the American way, inspiring thousands of mass murderers, serial killers, warmongers and general genocidal madmen who make up the America we know today.
He is best known outside of America as the model for "Bubble-O-Bill," a popular cowboy-shaped ice cream treat across Australia, New Zealand, and Luxembourg.

god i'm honestly just genuinely so pissed off. this panel was a fucking car crash, because of the amount of disrespect from every corner.
from the organisers - for putting this panel in a tiny ass room that looked like a basement and then not even having enough fucking space for all of them that some of them had to share chairs and others had to SWAP OUT OF THE PANEL so the others could come on? do they not realise how MASSIVE these creators are? how many people in the entire con were there purely for the dream team even?
the commentator lady whatever her name is was as exciting as a blade of grass. i've never seen someone do a more horrible fucking job of talking to content creators, talking to the crowd, asking questions, setting the mood, etc. the only thing she added was awkwardness - as if we were missing any of that
and the fans... listen some people had decent questions sure. but literally jumping for the microphone when you don't even have a fucking question - all you want to do is show dream and george your gross almost nsfw t-shirt...? people asking for selfies/fist bumps/birthday shoutouts...
do people not understand what a panel is? it's not a fucking meet and greet. this is where you get the chance to hear your favourite creators talk about things that they are passionate about, fuel creative discourse and throw around ideas and listen to what they have to say, and ask them questions that you used more than 1 braincell to come up with..
i'm just honestly annoyed. they deserved better. dream certainly deserved better. fuck twitch. fuck people who have no respect. and fuck jack manifold.

This interview confirmed
The point of the wilds era games is showcasing mechanics, the 'core' of both games was to build and walk around
There will be no DLC
There will not be another direct sequel
The ultrahand will not continue in future games
The timeline is intentionally unclear to make the game accessible for new fans and the development process (tl;dr All Zelda games are intentionally AUs to a degree)
The producer and director both deny intentional references to prior games in the story, but then say that these similarities represent the soul of the series and the overall myth of The Legend of Zelda (pick a lane)?
The timeline doesn't matter, outside of specific sets of games it's irrelevant on purpose. Whatever you think about the timeline is correct. Continuity is not the point. Maintaining the form while creating something new is the point.
Fujibayashi really only cares about mechanics and Aunoma is totally cool with that

if i may ask, how did you know your writing might have been fed to ai? tbh i'm uber paranoid about ai as someone who also posts their work on the internet so i guess i'd like to know if there's a way to reverse search (?) it somehow ... ?
i'm not entirely sure how widespread it is across the internet, but ao3 itself made a post acknowledging the issue and the precautions they intend to implement to help combat the problem. there's also this reddit post going into how they figured out this was happening more (omegaverse gave it away which idk if i should laugh or cry about).
i hate to be a Doomer, especially since i intend for this blog to be a getaway from life's various woes, but the whole ai ''''''''''''''''''''writing and art'''''''''''''''''''''''' thing is genuinely depressing to me and almost made me consider giving up publishing my work on the internet altogether. so i completely get what you mean.
however, i was able to cheer myself up (some) eventually. i know the nature of technology is to improve on itself and i'm sure ai ''''''''''creations''''''''''' will get better, but i'm going to stubbornly stick to the belief that it'll always remain inferior to works created by people. there is just zero soul to ai ''''''''''''works'''''''''. all i can see is the thousands of artists it stole from and tried regurgitating into something cohesive. idk how to explain it, it's more of a Feeling than anything logical.

I'm not entirely sure why people are so happy about Ricciardo returning to F1 in the worst team on the grid and the same team he was in when he was a young driver. Like...that isn't the flex you think it is.
Especially when De Vries was clearly harshly mistreated, since nobody should be getting fired mid-season like that. It's cruel and unethical, especially when drivers like Latifi and Mazepin were never fired mid-season, even if it was probably deserved. Also, Ricciardo will likely do badly in the Alpha Tauri. This is the same guy who needs the car set up exactly right in order to do well and crumbles when he isn't in a car that perfectly suits his driving style. He is overrated and people only like him because of his personality. Yes, Ricciardo is a lovely guy and I also really like him but I don't think he's the same driver anymore and he's almost certainly past his peak. F1 is a racing competition, not a personality contest.

characters who logically assess a situation and choose to minimize harm but cannot eliminate it entirely evil and ruthless and bad for not being able to do the impossible; characters that purposefully choose to act in ways that do harm because of decisions that are made irrationally/emotionally excused because of their mental state. characters who outwardly react are good and characters who keep things to themselves are emotionless monsters. incompetence is absolving and being highly capable makes one inherently more responsible and therefore more to blame. self-preservation is morally wrong and selfish dont you care about everyone else don't you care enough to throw your life away. the worst thing someone can be is cold, to take things seriously, to give enough of a shit to stop fucking around and not enough of a fuck to let half their damn people die for the sake of one etc etc etc forever. ARENT WE TIRED ???? ARENT WE TIRED OF THIS

GOOD OMENS SEASON TWO SPOILERS
steph!! i can’t believe that crowley and azerphale are like cannon???!!! i’m literally in shock and denial and like everything else
like it all happened OUT LOUD in THE SHOW hello?????
i’m so traumatised from all that sherlock bs so i’m actually unable to process this ?????? they had a whole KISS??
ahhh this like a completely pointless “ask” but i’m just so happy, excited, everything lol
thank you for everything u do on here, i love your blog sm !! <3
Hey Nonny!!
OMG, SERIOUSLY!!! Like, I also GENUINELY did not think they would take it that far in the second season (I was only HOPING for Season Three). S2 I was DEFINITELY expecting the more-touching, and more insight into their relationship, but GODDAMN they just went and confirmed mutual love for each other (and it WAS both of them! They JUST started the reverse of their love languages right at the end: Azzie's became an act of service, and Crowley's became the FIRST physical touching HE HIMSELF initiated all season).
But yeah, I feel SO much different about S2 than I EVER did of Sherlock S4. Good Omens left me feeling like I did after OFMD: the separation was SO SO painful, but I remain hopeful (given the cast, crew and writers' attitudes as well) that Ed and Stede will come together next season. I feel that way with GO, and it's SO refreshing.
Sherlock Tripped and fell near the finish line. GO flew and we ALL were shocked, I think, given a large chunk of us that are in the GO Fandom come from either/or/both fandoms (Sherlock and SPN) that basically queerbaited and gave us an unsatisfactory ending.
And this ask isn't pointless at ALL, I LOVE talking about things I enjoy and sharing it with y'all too!! Asks like this help me realize more and more things I can add to my meta! <3 PLEASE never apologize for being happy!
