Something I love about Genshin is that it has this subtle post-apocalyptic type world healing from disaster. There's just something beautiful about how even when the world has ended, again and again, in the end there will always be...mint

this is what kills me about black orpheus (1959, dir. camus) actually. because orfeu is familiar with the story of orpheus and eurydice. early on someone even makes a joke like "your name's orpheus? where's your eurydice?" he knows the story and he knows what it means to be orpheus. and then at the pivotal moment he looks anyway because after all he's orpheus and he can't not.

something something dick and bruce and the ways they hurt each other and how some of it is accidental and some of it is intentional but what hurts more than the fresh wound is seeing it next to old scars because no matter how sincere bruce’s apology or how genuine dick’s forgiveness- bruce will inevitably be asking for dick’s forgiveness again

dont mind me, just thinking about Chip's consistent motif of drowning and the fact hes the only one not protected by niklaus plot armor. haha super funny that chip met niklaus by accidentally managing to get into his realm after falling asleep and waking up drowning in the ocean. absolutely riveting that the cat-scratch induced nightmare that effected chip the most physically was one where he was pulled into the depths of the water by black tentacles and woke up coughing out saltwater. absolutely incredible that chip's final nightmare lead him to arlin who was at the bottom of the sea. how the monsters in his mind were corrupted black sludge that had painted itself in the visages of his friends and how the moment they crossed into the black sea that nightmare became reality. how he has the highest corruption level in the group currently because of an extra point i CANNOT pinpoint the source of and how his character attribute from the start has been the haunted one. how the black sea took from every person who survived and that perhaps something in chip has been gone from the very beginning. how episode 104 began with a song literally called At The Bottom, sung by chip saying that hes "searching for something i just cant find," "falling down in the hole, you know the trap is set, slowly losing control" "dont come looking for me when it's my turn- dont come looking for me at the bottom." thinks about chip getting dragged into the depths. thinks about how niklaus' only desire for chip was for him to not interfere in some way or another. thinks about a trap laid 10 years before that dragged his ship to the bottom of the sea. thinks about the map that only captain rose could read leading chip to the place that nearly destroyed the black rose pirates entirely. thinks about chip, the growing corruption within his body, and the depths. how all that hes been searching for is there at the bottom. how swimming only delays the inevitable, and then you sink. like. thats awesome. thats so cool. surely all of these things are unrelated

the Doctor travels to 2005, London, and blows up a building. he meets Rose Tyler.

they hit it off, and she travels with him for a time.

she is trapped in a parallel universe.

two-ish years later, they reunite, but uh-oh! Dalek shoots the Doctor! he manages not to regenerate by channeling the energy into a severed hand.

Donna touches the severed hand. triggers a metacrisis whatsit that grows a human!Doctor and gives Donna the brain software of a time lord.

Donna's brain cannot handle that. the og!Doctor erases her memories of all things re: him, and sends Donna back home.

some years later, Donna has a child. the lingering metacrisis transfers to child, somehow.

child grows up with vague memories of Donna's time with the Doctor and various stories the Doctor told her, thinks of them as make-believe and imaginary friends.

child Transes Gender, needs a new femme name.

draws on their childhood memories. hmmm, Rose is a nice name.....

Doctor visits Donna again after a recent regeneration. stuff happens. Donna remembers the Doctor but brain does not explode, the Doctor and Donna are still besties, he hits it off with Donna's family including her child, Rose Noble.

somehow, there's a yet another extra David Tennant Doctor distinct from the og!Doctor now??

this new surplus Doctor settles in as platonic life partners with Donna. he functions as essentially a funky uncle/third parent to Rose Noble.

sometime later, adult Rose Noble has a child of her own. she has continued to grow with stories of time, space, and Gallifrey, now directly from the Doctor. when she needs to name her daughter, she chooses a name linking all of that history, and names her daughter the Gallifreyan word for a plant so similar to the Earthen rose.

Arkytior Noble grows up in a fantastic, weird family.

one day, in her early teens, she commandeers a time machine--vortex, TARDIS, whatever--and travels. Farther than Arkytior means to.

she winds up on Gallifrey. where she meets a restless time lord, young despite his head of white hair, as curious and hungry for adventure as herself. with a newly chosen name much like Arkytior's mother has her own chosen name.

when he introduces himself as "the Doctor", Arkytior laughs.

"oh, you're my grandfather!"

"I'm what?? since when did--"

"from the future. timey-wimy stuff. don't worry about it."

and with time travel at her disposal, Arkytior doesn't really need to return home quite yet. there's so much to explore! how convenient she ran into someone who will become one of the people she trusts most in the world, who was just planning to set off on his own explorations.......

they travel for a time.

centuries and lifetimes and faces later, the Doctor travels to 2005, London, and blows up a building. he meets Rose Tyler.

Something about the early joke of 'We lost two' explaining why there are only seven members of the Nein hurts, because they did lose two of them (Molly and Yasha (and it being the circus kids who were lost/taken is a whole separate conversation)) but the remaining members fought tooth and nail to get them back, and they did, so at the end there were truly nine members of the Nein, and it all being improv and unplanned makes me completely feral.

This time around I thought I would make a comic relaying the events after the last time I posted, because my gosh is it easier to explain with pretty pictures than upsetting words >vO I prefer to make jokes about my situation than anything, ‘cause honestly it’s a solid way of dealing with it and I take so many medications as it is, why not add laughter to it I say! Thank you @waezi2 you were so patient as I arose from my grave every other day to get things done (❁´◡`❁) Fighting my body and winning to complete it was the victory I needed! The sheer satisfaction I get from a commission well received by someone is like pure nectar to me~ Sweet sustenance I just can’t get enough of! The money don’t hurt either, Disability Support Pensions do not go far in this economy 👀 This is as close as I can get to having a job and I wont let C.V.S (Cyclic vomiting Syndrome) or Chrohns take that from me!

Honestly I'm gonna stay away from comparing them because I am too old for ship wars. Also I actually do like Jess as a character a lot. I enjoy his friendship with Rory too, especially as they grow up. I think he becomes a better friend to her and I'm glad he showed up to knock some sense into her about Yale. I don't think anyone else would've gotten through to her in that moment. Logan quite literally couldn't because a) he hasn't known her for nearly as long so even if he understood that she was making the wrong choice - "you love school" is one of my favorite Logan lines, he takes her so seriously even when it's things he personally cares nothing about, like school - and b) Logan is used to doing what people want him to do. Rory playing the role of the DAR darling is the equivalent of him going on business trips out of state with his dad: what they were 'born' to do. But he doesn't really like it. We see how uncomfortable he is with it - he just doesn't know what to say. Jess knows Rory well enough to call her out on her shit when she really really needed it.

I liked Rory and Logan as a couple right away, I enjoy their chemistry and the fact that they have things in common and also different interests and personalities and upbringings. I like that Logan challenges Rory and that she surprises him. I like that he's willing to try new things with her and I like that he gets her to step outside of her comfort zone. Even when it goes badly, like their open relationship, it forces Rory to step up a bit. She's better at communicating with Logan than she has been in her relationships in the past because of it. I like that they're really, sincerely friends. They prank each other and he keeps up with her banter.

I also love the Rory is Luke and Logan is Lorelai comparison, it really rings true to me. Rory and Luke are the characters described as hermits and Logan and Lorelai have a lot in common, including things Lorelai criticizes Logan for. (After all, Lorelai gets the wedding planner fired in the same season that Logan gets the maid fired in.) I enjoy that dynamic of bright, cheerful characters and more shy, reserved characters together. Despite all of my quibbles with season 7, I do think they got it right that Lorelai is someone Logan would look up to and hope to emulate.
