I sincerely hope that Mik being cast might open the way for other trans queens(I hope that`s the right term for them), drag kings and eventually bio-queens(there are some sickening performers that deserve some air time). It`s high time we got past the whole notion that having breasts as a drag queen counts as cheating. Off topic, could you imagine the absolute gag it would be if Landon Cider was cast and ended up winning?

i definitely think it’s a good start and im hoping for the best! and yeah i hate that notion that having a ‘female body’ (for lack of a better phrase) is somehow an advantage. there are so many popular cis male queens that don’t cynch or do a breast illusion anyway like, it’s high time the show understands drag has evolved into a gender fluid art form

also landon being the first dragula and rpdr king winner would be the most iconic thing to ever happen. i feel like if the show did want a king he’d be the first choice bcs him being so established would make him a ‘safe bet’, if you will

With my gritty reboot of Friendship is Magic, I tried to follow the template of Battlestar Galactica and Nolan’s Batman trilogy by making the world more realistic and the characters and events more morally ambiguous. Of course, there’s other ways to do a gritty reboot. Not good ways, but they exist. We’ll explore one with our gritty reboot of Equestria Girls.

In our gritty reboot of Equestria Girls, when Sunset Shimmer betrayed Celestia, she escaped through the magic mirror and created a timequake that altered the past timeline of the Equestria Girls world. Through complex temporal mechanics, the timequake piggybacked on the moment in the original timeline and world where the pony Mane 6 saw Rainbow Dash’s Sonic Rainboom and got their cutie marks. The temporal anomaly gave the six Equestria Girls powers, but also caused a worldwide flood of Biblical proportions, as well as famines and superstorms that destroyed the world’s ability to feed itself. Sunset arrived three years ago, just as she did in the original Equestria Girls, but this time, instead of the modern, happy world that she finds there, she finds a ruined cyberpunk dystopia. Filthy Rich’s company, Rich Cybertech Inc., has created technology that allows the people to feed themselves, but in return they all have to live inside his bubble town and serve him.

In the first movie, Sunset realizes that she can combine her knowledge of magic with Rich Cybertech Inc.’s technology to gain unbridled power. She tries to do just that, building herself a magitech cybersuit and using her networking capabilities to jack into the brain implants that Rich Cybertech installs in everypony’s head. She then tries to lead them as an army back to Equestria to take over. But one human won’t let her accomplish her evil plan: Reignbow, a gritty cigar-chomping hero with TK powers and a serious gun habit. She can make a dozen people’s heads explode into fountains of blood, but it’ll give her a migraine bad enough to put her down for the day, so she typically just uses tons of guns to mow down anyone who stands in her way. She’s spent three years surviving outside the bubble city of Everfree, in the ruined badlands of Canterlot where mutants rule and giant praying mantises chomp up anyone who’s too slow or weak to survive. With her is Pynkie, whose parents sold her into slavery to pay for food for their other children. Reignbow got Pynkie from some slavers who hired her to protect their caravan’s passage through Ghastly Gulch, couldn’t pay her after they lost half their wagons in a Quarray Eel attack, and gave Pynkie to her as payment. Pynkie loves Reignbow, but Reignbow doesn’t care about Pynkie, and just uses her to do household chores and for sex. Her other companions include Knyfejack, a massive and super-strong farmer turned cybernetics expert with a penchant for popping eyes out; Rarydark, their chain-smoking armorer and weapons expert; and Fluttrdown, a psychic who can command the mutant beasts that roam the badlands, including the giant praying mantises, scorpion lions, bears with swords coming out of their backs, hummingbirds on fire, and sharks that have porcupine spines and also can fly for some reason. Together, the squad kills off an army of cybernetically controlled sheeple under Sunset’s command, then brutally kills Sunset herself. Reignbow brings her head to Filthy Rich, who had offered a bounty for anyone who could bring in the thief that stole from him, dead or alive, and throws it on his desk in a bloody mess. But Filthy Rich refuses to pay the bounty to Reignbow, and there are too many guards to get away with killing him, so Reignbow is forced to leave him alone.

In the second movie, Reignbow and her crew face the Psyrens, three psychics from Equestria who can control minds without needing to jack into the implants, and their army of mind-controlled looters. They once again kill a lot of people and spout dark tough guy one-liners, and then go back to the base in the ruins of Canterlot High School and use Pynkie for sex.

In the third movie, Reignbow’s crew faces the Shadowbolts, whose name is already straight out of a 90’s Image comic. They are led by Sytwy, a calm, collected scientist with no qualms about sacrificing others for her genetic experiments. Sytwy’s boss, Dr. Cynch, is holding her brother Shynyng Armor hostage and will kill him unless Sytwy does as she says. Sytwy challenges Reignbow’s group to a duel to prove that her genetic experiments are superior, saying if they win she’ll join them in fighting against Filthy Rich’s order, but if she wins they have to join her and submit to brain implantation and whatever genetic experiment she wants to do on them. Sytwy’s group wins, and she overcomes the Reignbow crew’s attempts to back out of their deal with extreme prejudice and gets them all on the table to get brain implants. When Dr. Cynch brings Sytwy to her brother, Sytwy finds that Dr. Cynch turned him into one of those creepy eyeless meat blob creatures that urban legends claim KFC and McDonald’s use to make all their food. In this world, those things are real, and Filthy Rich keeps everyone fed by turning undesirables into them with genetic engineering. Dr. Cynch laughs evilly at Sytwy’s foolishness, but Sytwy goes down to the operating room and frees Reignbow and her crew, and together they brutally kill everyone. Dr. Cynch injects herself with mysterious serum and turns into a giant disgusting monster like Tetsuo at the end of Akira, but Reignbow blows her up with TK and lots of guns and one-liners.

In the fourth movie, Reignbow and her crew protect Everfree Farm, a smaller bubble community owned by Furyosa Nyghtshade, whose grandparents were survival experts and managed to scrape out a living outside of Filthy Rich’s bubble. Filthy Rich obviously can’t stand for this, and he sends thugs to kill Furyosa and her brother Tym and take control of their farm. Reignbow and her crew fight off the thugs, but they can’t stop them forever, so Sytwy comes up with a genetic treatment to turn Furyosa into a monster so she can fight them off for good. Unfortunately Furyosa can’t control herself and runs amok, so Reignbow and the crew have to take her down. Also Sytwy is banging Tym.

I’m totally pumped about this idea, and it doesn’t have to be in movie form; if IDW wants to hire me as a writer and get Rob Liefeld to do the art, we can have Issue 1 of this thing out the door next month.

I scoured the internet trying to find the article I read last week about how one of the contestants of Rupaul’s Drag Race Season 9, Aja, believes the show is no longer about preserving the art of drag. Queens on the show are heavily critiqued by the judges so they can be the best form of drag they can possibly be in order to represent Rupauls as “America’s next drag superstar”. However, Aja feels that drag has become too mainstream, and the same beauty standards imposed on women, are being imposed on queens. Drag is meant as an artform that is supposed to poke fun at women, but also allow the queens to create a character to embody. Aja suggests Rupaul’s Drag Race is only supporting one type of drag, the fishy, skinny, perfect makeup kind. I have watched all 9 seasons, including both RPDR Allstars, and have seen too many artistic queens, and big girls go home too early because they were trying to stay true to their drag aesthetic. In addition, Drag Race just moved from Logo to VH1 this season which is saying something about their motives to make drag more mainstream, but only a particular type of drag. The other queens who don’t fit the desription of glamorous, cynched waist, big hair, and perfect makeup will not be the winner of RPDR, and their type of drag will not be understood by new generations of drag race fans which I think is the biggest shame of all.
