Feral Owen
So obviously I love the idea of Curt and Owen going home together after the staircase incident and learning to heal and forgive each other, and Owen softening and becoming more like he used to be.
BUT. I have to admit I'm also partial to Owen being dragged away kicking and screaming, tied to a chair in Curt's house, with Curt being like "I missed u sm I'm so sorry baby" and Owen just trying to bite him.
And obviously he eventually calms down some, but he's still this little gremlin human being who occasionally will just whip out a knife in the middle of a party because he lost a board game and Curt's like "no honey cmon we talked about this <3 what are our breathing exercises? :)" while Owen is staring-down whoever won.
Like The Squad is hanging out and Owen is basically just listing medieval torture methods and Tatiana's like "uhhhhh Curt?" and Curt's like ":) he's been reading! we went to the library yesterday as a reward because he only tried to stab me once on Sunday, isn't that right honey? <3"
Everytime Barb sees them it's basically the equivalent of the "GET YO FUCKIN DOG BITCH" "it don't bite :)" "YES IT DO" vine
And everyone at A.S.S. is gossiping trying to figure out what's going on, like "Isn't that Agent Carvour from MI6? Didn't he die like four years ago???" "Why the fuck does he have a job here this is the ninth time this week that he's punched a wall in" "Idk man everytime I try to ask Agent Mega he gets really defensive"
And Owen like. Actively hates Curt and is still constantly trying to kill him. And Curt's just. Used to it. He turns around and there's a gun to his head and he's like "Owen come on now :( we're at work and I need you to be a little more professional baby. This is important to me ok? I'm sorry but I think we're going to have to cancel dinner plans for tonight. Well I can't just let this pass without consequences honey. Maybe if you give me the gun now and sit down we can go there Tuesday night? No baby I'm not mad at you I still love you, we just need to work on this is all <3 :) <3"
While Barb, Tatiana, and everyone else just watch in utter confusion
They'll sit in restaurants and Curt will hit him with the:
Tumblr media
And Owen rips the paper out of Curt's hand and just fucking eats it. And Curt rolls his eyes and is like "let me get another sheet so i can draw it again. you're so silly"
Sometimes Curt just sits at his job filling out paperwork while Owen sits next to him muttering furiously "I hate you so much I'm going to fucking kill you when my Chimera friends gets here they're going to kick your ass and I'm going to torture you so bad you'll be screaming for mercy" and Curt's like "mhm mhm. hey honey can you pass me the stapler please?" ".......here."
One day, some A.S.S. agents are gossiping and one of them is like "I can't believe Cynthia hired Mega back he's so incompetent if I were Carvour I'd wanna kill him too lmao" and in the blink of an eye Owen is holding the person in a chokehold like "SAY THAT AGAIN SAY THAT SHIT AGAIN I DARE YOU YOU BLOODY IDIOT YOU DON'T TALK ABOUT CURT LIKE THAT HE IS A GENIUS AND AN INCREDIBLE SPY YOU'RE JUST JEALOUS BECAUSE HIS LIST OF FLAWS IS SHORTER THAN YOUR DICK"
Then Curt walks out of his little office and just starts petting Owen's hair like "shh it's okay baby let's just calm down and sit ok?" "HE CALLED YOU INCOMPETENT" "i know honey it's ok just let him go and we can take a break and read more of that book you like. yeah? would that be good bud? :)" "I WANT TO KILL HIM" "shh i know i know. what are our breathing exercises honey?"
Later when they're sitting down Owen's like "...you're not incompetent. i still wanna kill you though you're a fucking bastard and im gonna tear you limb from limb and my Chimera friends are gonna hang your innards up in the white house" "mhm" "but only i get to do that ok? not some jerk coworker of yours" "uh huh" "if anyone's mean to you like that you have to tell me so i can kill them" "ok sweetheart. is your pasta good? do i need to ask for more parmesan?" "....it's good." "ok good i'm glad <3"
Basically Curt taking one look at Owen and saying "I can fix him :)" while everyone else goes "........are you sure???" and Curt clears his throat and says "I SAID I CAN FIX HIM :) "

Hello, I'm the last anon you answered to. I'm sorry if I came out as defensive because it wasn't my intention. In fact I've always thought that John was bisexual until I started questioning everything. ( I'm a bisexual guy myself and I'm perfectly happy with the way I am ! ) It's just that I feel like Yoko would just say whatever she wants on John to suit her agenda. John's sexuality had always been an interesting topic and dropping something like that would gaib her publicity this is why I --
I question the authenticity of her claims. She could have lied about it just to attract attention… And I’d be disappointed because John was in fact my idol and he gave me the strength to come out as bi to my family. But there’s so many anecdotes about him being homophobic that it just makes me sad and this is why I hardly doubt that he was a bisexual man…As for the Cynthia quote I heard her say something like “ John was afraid of homosexuality just like everyone ) in a video on Youtube –
I am very conflicted because I’ve watched videos of John ( interviews etc ) and many comments said that he was very skilled at manipulating people and wasn’t as honest as he appeared to be, which is why I doubt. John had always been the rebellious type and I started thinking that he was using the bisexuality topic to shock and make people talk about it which is disappointing. Was he dropping hints that he was bi to piss off people and make publicity ? This is what I believe : (There is also -
Something he said to Alaister Taylor where he said that he was trying to spread the rumor that he was gay or bi just for fun and he told him that he would never shag a man because just the thought of it turned him off… Yet he also told him that he adored Brian so much that he would have done anything with him ( he contradict himself here. ) So yeah I didn’t want to be rude. I apologize. I think I need reassurance. Could you please analyse everything I said if u don’t mind please ? : (

Anon 2
At the very least all these years later isn’t it circumstantially suggested that John had very private gay encounters, and was uncomfortable making them public, yet wanted to hint at them so he could deal with this matter int he future? He was protecting his privacy and his ego, and perhaps wasn’t yet ready to reveal either his encounters or mixed feelings of bisexuality. His encounters have been protected by those with whom he was involved, people thameant a lot to him, no?

Anon 3
hey! by any chance, do you have knowledge of the quotes where john said “sex with girls felt like a performance after the first time” and “i was never sexually attracted to women before yoko”? i am SURE i’ve seen the first one somewhere on tumblr, though the second one is more of a quote of a quote so i’m not sure if it’s real or not dfkdjk thanks, anyway!

Anon 4
Hello! Is it true that John used to be very attracted to the drag scene in St Pauli ( I guess that was the town I read about ) and that basically the drag / gay scene made him feel comfortable and at home? Says a lot about him!
-
@tbhmarjj
I adore you, thank u for this blog and ur beautiful mind. i doubt johns bisexuality at times tbh considering he went to great lengths for publicity and he wanted to be an LGBT ally, be cool and outspoken and as he himself said it was trendy to be bi. but then again he was obsessed with Paul in so many ways and he was the embodiment of John’s ideal man. beautiful, talented, intellectual. I’ll be patiently awaiting ur posts exploring Paul’s views on johns sexuality.Thank u

Hello again, anon!
I want to begin by thanking you for getting back to me after I answered your ask and for clarifying where you were coming from when you wrote it. It really is quite hard to fully get the tone of a written message, especially one that is so short that you have no context to draw from to get the emotional meaning behind it. It really appeared to me when I read it that the concern was not who was saying it (Yoko) but about what was being said (John was bisexual). I can now see that was not the case and I appreciate that you’ve made that clear.
I also hope you don’t mind, but I’ve taken the opportunity to include in this answer all of the other asks I’ve been receiving regarding John’s sexuality. It’s clearly a topic of great interest in this community. So I’ll be attempting to address all the points raised here. Again, this is nothing definitive; only my personal readings of the situation as I find it at the moment.
Before I do answer, though, I’d just like everyone to take a deep breath and a step back. Let’s try to examine this topic a bit more objectively.
I understand that sex is kind of major in our society. Our notion of identity is tightly bound to our classified sexuality and gender. Sexual relationships (or amorous relationships) are seen as the epitome of human connection and the ideal everyone should be striving for. And people fundamentally want to be loved and not alone, so it makes sense that figuring out who is a potential companion (and if that companion is interested back) is such a big deal.
But despite these layers of meaning and societal pressures, we should keep in mind what sex represents, essentially, from an evolutionary point of view.
For social animals who derive pleasure from sexual stimulation, sexual intercourse is – like all the other kinds of affection – a way to build connections.
If you want to find examples in nature, just look at our ape cousins, the bonobos. The also called pygmy chimpanzee lives in a matriarchal society where sexual behaviour plays an essential role in strengthening social bonds, lowering tension and keeping the peace. Bonobos don’t discriminate between gender or age (except between mothers copulating with their own adult sons, so as to prevent cross-breeding). It’s the true “free love” society; evolution took “make love, not war” and ran with it.
Our own culture seems more similar to that of bonobos’ northern neighbours, the common chimp. Their patriarchy is more conservative regarding sexual intercourse, which is mainly used for reproduction purposes, and their power structure is based around intricate political games, where males form alliances and try to get public support in order to overthrow the ruling party.
I find it endlessly curious to look at these two species, whose physical separation by the Congo river made them diverge so starkly in their social organization, and compare them to the struggle between these same two natures that we find in our own society.
All this to say that, from a simply biological point of view, I have to agree with John and Yoko when they say that everyone must be bisexual. If sexual intercourse as a social behaviour is, inherently, all about establishing bonds and connections, the extent to which those connections are “allowed” to be built depends entirely on the hierarchal structure that same society is trying to preserve. In other words, what is classified as morally right or wrong is more reflective of the rules in place to keep that society working as it is, than it is of what is naturally present as a drive.
If your brain is primed to seek pleasure and sexual intercourse brings you pleasure independently of the partner’s gender, then the partner’s gender should be inconsequential.
But unlike bonobos, humans are kind of touchy about touching. So there are other levels of information influencing behaviour. The processes of socialization – of internalizing the norms and ideologies of society – and enculturation – by which people learn the dynamics of their surrounding culture and acquire values and norms appropriate or necessary in that culture and worldviews – are as determinant as the genetic factors influencing behaviour. In fact, this added education can be so effective in curbing your “primal instincts”, that one might forget they have them in the first place.
Thus, the concepts of gender identity and sexual orientation are a constantly shifting construct based on the various interactions between your genetic makeup and social influences.
I just think that, in order to have this discussion, it’s important to separate the various levels of it and be clear about which we are referring to.
There is the basic evolutionary drive to seek pleasure and form connections.
There is the social education about that same drive and how it is allowed to manifest itself.
And integrating all these different signals and information – various potentials which manifested as attraction – there finally is a behaviour, a choice.
And finally, there’s the external point of view of other members of society looking in and trying to discern other people’s drives and how they relate to their choices (that’s us now). The problem is, we often throw our own drives and choices into the mix, especially with regards to something as personally defining as sexual orientation.
So we have to make very clear in our minds what is the end goal here. Why are we interested in discussing this topic? Are we looking to discern as much of the truth as we can get it, objectively trying to understand these human beings? Or are we trying to confirm our own projections on them? And please, don’t take me wrong. All these are valid reasons to be interested in a subject. Often how it resonates with us, so personally, is vitally important to reaching a greater understanding about ourselves and learning how to communicate that to others.
But in the same way a piece of music can make you have a transformative emotional experience that the artist didn’t necessarily go through, it’s important to remember that our own inner-life might be affecting how we examine others. Better be mindful of what we project, lest we think are finally seeing inside another person when in fact we are only looking at our own reflection. (And honestly, I believe getting to truly know ourselves in this processes can be a hundred times more valuable than knowing the other. By learning to recognize ourselves we can better understand other people and vice-versa.)
So if it is important to you that John is bisexual, my honest opinion is that all the information can be read in a way that confirms it. We’ll hardly ever know for sure, and based on what we do know, that can certainly be the takeaway.
But if we want to objectively examine John’s sexuality, we shouldn’t bring in a confirmation bias. Meaning that we should be emotionally detached from the outcome, as long as it is as close to the truth as we can get. But this is only where I’m coming from, and I’m a bit of a scientist. It’s totally fair if you’re not in it for the same reasons. Though again, working under the assumption that you want to know my stance on it, let’s proceed.
I understand your reservations regarding Yoko as an unreliable narrator. To analyse Yoko’s motivations would be an interesting topic, but one which I will not go in at the moment as I don’t feel sufficiently informed about Yoko as a person to give an extensive examination.
But in my opinion, there is a whole lot of other information available from which to draw from other than Yoko’s statements.
I also get your and @tbhmarjj‘s concerns about John’s declarations during the 70s. But it’s the same question I posed in the previous post: Was the “bisexual chic” fad of the 1970s merely a publicity stunt for those involved? Even if it was, did it make the experimentations undertaken any less true? Were they just faking it for the press or were they finally allowed to try and be open about it?
Because I come from the biological background that places sex as a positive social interaction like any other, meaning that its purpose is to create bonds and the pleasure is our “reward” for doing it, I tend to believe that the behaviours were genuine. The drive there is real. As real as the internal constraints that would act on them as a result of societies shifting expectations and permissions. And this socialization is as determinant in the creation of sexual attraction as anything. So based on our definition of sexual orientation, all those bi rockstars of the 70s could have effectively stopped identifying as bi once the new social norm overrun their own internal drives and the previous less conservative status quo. That didn’t make them less bi when they were.
It’s funny, but in terms of gender and sexuality, nothing is real so everything is.
So yeah, I think that John could have been bisexual the second he felt he was. But because the social tide was likely to shift, it was better to also maintain a measure of deniability: it was just for show, it’s not serious, I was just taking the mickey out of you and you fell for it! Of course John was smart enough to leave space there to retract. He and Paul had mastered the art as communicators through song. They could claim them to mean everything and nothing as it suited them. As Anon 2 says, it’s a protective measure.
So I think that at some point in time, John genuinely identified as bisexual. Now whether he acted on it or not is another questioned entirely. As Anon 2 points out, there are various circumstantial accounts, but these are always tougher to verify.
I tend to believe Yoko when she says:
So did Lennon ever have sex with men?
“No, I don’t think so,” says Ono. “The beginning of the year he was killed, he said to me, ‘I could have done it, but I can’t because I just never found somebody that was that attractive.’ Both John and I were into attractiveness—you know—beauty.”
I ask what she makes of the people outside the building, the crowds still at Strawberry Fields.
Ono misunderstands, or mishears (or is simply focused on the last strand of our conversation), and continues to talk about sex.
“I don’t make anything out of it. When you’re not really interested in that sort of sex, you don’t think about it. Both John and I surprisingly were very passive people. Unless somebody made a thing out of it, if they made a move, I wouldn’t even think about it.”
— in Yoko Ono: I Still Fear John’s Killer by Tim Teeman for the Daily Beast (13 October 2015).
At least I believe he at least never “fully” did it, in the sense of full-blown anal sex. I think there might have been “milder” homosexual interactions, such as handjobs, that could be rationalized as not entirely gay (the thing with Brian in Spain being one of them.)
Regarding the drag scene in Hamburg Anon 4 was asking about, I agree that it also provides information about John. Though I think it’s mainly about his gender identity rather than his sexual orientation (though the two are invariably linked in the construct as well).
Here are some quotes about it:
With his four months’ greater experience, Sheridan was an ideal guide to the Reeperbahn’s more exotic diversions, like the Schwülen laden. Stu Sutcliffe later wrote home in amazement that the transvestites were ‘all harmless and very young’ and it was actually possible to speak to one ‘without shuddering’. Though raised amid the same homophobia as his companions, John seemed totally unshocked by St Pauli’s abundant drag scene; indeed, he often seemed actively to seek it out. ‘There was one particular club he used to like,’ Tony Sheridan remembers, ‘full of these big guys with hairy hands, deep voices—and breasts. But they used to make an effort to talk English. There was something about the place that seemed to make John feel at home.’
— In John Lennon: The Life by Philip Norman (2008).
And according to Horst Fascher (bouncer at the Indra Club and the Kaiserkeller):
It wasn’t just girls that were on offer to young english rockers. Monica’s Bar was Hamburg’s notorious transvestite club. For one or two English musicians, Monica’s was just another part of the Hamburg experience.
HORST FASCHER: One night Monica said, “Come, come and look. One of your boys is in the séparé.” “And who is it?” And she said, “One of the Beatles.” “Let me look”. She said, “Be careful. Look only sneaky-like.” But I did. I grabbed the curtain, pulled it aside and there was sitting John in… in a position with that girl, and you know. He felt really ashamed and I said, “John, don’t worry man. I did that all before.”
— In The Beatles Biggest Secrets. [Transcription is my own and I’m not too certain of it.]
Though there certainly might have been an aspect of sexual interest to it, I think John’s fascination with the drag scene was also the kinship with the queerness he felt inside himself; mainly in regards to him wanting to express his more sensitive side, which is coded as feminine in our society. So I think seeing men indulging in femininity and nonnormative behaviour resonated with him.
Also, I think it’s even more important to understand John’s relationship with sex in general, regardless of the partner.
To that end, the quote mentioned by Anon 3 is of special relevance:
When I was a kid, I wanted to shag every attractive woman I saw. I used to dream that it would be great if you could just click your fingers and they would strip off and be ready for me. I would spend most of my teenager years fantasising about having this kind of power over women. The weird thing is, when the fantasies came true they were not nearly so much fun. One of my most frequent dreams was seducing two girls together, or even a mother and a daughter. That happened in Hamburg a couple of times and the first time it was sensational. The second time it got to feel like I was giving a performance. You know how when you make love to a woman that the moment you come, you get a buzz of relief and just for a moment you don’t need anyone or anything. The more women I had, the more the buzz would turn into a horrible feeling of rejection and revulsion at what I’d been doing. As soon as I’d been with a woman, I wanted to get the hell out.
— John Lennon to Alistair Taylor (Brian Epstein’s assistant), 1965. In his autobiography With the Beatles: A Stunning Insight by The Man who was with the Band Every Step of the Way (2003).
And another important passage is in reference to Janov’s Primal Scream Therapy:
Well, his thing is to feel the pain that’s accumulated inside you ever since your childhood. […] The worst pain is that of not being wanted, of realising your parents do not need you in the way you need them. When I was a child I experienced moments of not wanting to see the ugliness, not wanting to see not being wanted. This lack of love went into my eyes and into my mind. […] Most people channel their pain into God or masturbation or some dream of making it. […] But for me at any rate it was all part of dissolving the Godtrip or father-figure trip. Facing up to reality instead of always looking for some kind of heaven.
— John Lennon, interviewed by Robin Blackburn and Tariq Ali for Red Mole (8-22 March 1971). [I really can’t stop pointing to this quote as one of the most important in order to understand John Lennon.]
As he reiterates in ‘I Found Out’ (1970): Some of you sitting there with yer cock in yer hand / Don’t get you nowhere don’t make you a man
To me, John’s pursuit of sex is, like most things in his life, essentially about filling this black-hole of emotional pain. He internalized the lack of love from his parents, which went into his eyes and mind, until he himself believed he was unlovable. This lack of self-esteem translates into a lot of pain and the need for an external solution for that pain.
The external solution is not wanting to feel so vulnerable any more. This can be achieved either by trying to seize control, by exerting it over others or having them look up to you (e.g. “fantasising about having this kind of power over women”; “some dream of making it”). Or it can be achieved by handing control over and being taken care of (e.g. “people channel their pain into God”, “I’ve seen religion from Jesus to Paul”.)
Sex as an activity can play into these various dynamics: it can be used to feel power over others, as John started out; it can be used as an escapist distraction, like a drug (e.g. “you get a buzz of relief and just for a moment you don’t need anyone or anything”); and it can be used as giving yourself over and being loved, looking to receive that which you can’t get from yourself.
As time passed and the first two solutions stopped working, I think John focused on the third: sex in the context of an emotionally close relationship as the ultimate intimacy and proof that he was loved. And because he wanted to absolve himself of responsibility, to be taken care of, his partner needed to be someone on the other end, someone who had control. In our culture, this reads as a masculine figure (e.g. “father-figure trip”).
This may be from a female, whose masculine qualities were what attracted John in the first place:
In this intense, intimate and revealing original cassette recording of a private conversation in 1969 between John Lennon and Yoko Ono, the couple speaks primarily about Yoko’s past relationships, her music and art, and their random views on sex, love, promiscuity, and homosexuality. […] [Lennon] adds that he had never met an attractive woman that had sexually aroused him to any great degree.
— Description of the 45-minute audiotape auctioned in 2009 by Alexander Autographs.
I used to say to him, ‘I think you’re a closet fag, you know.’ Because after we started to live together, John would say to me, ‘Do you know why I like you? Because you look like a bloke in drag. You’re like a mate.’
— Yoko Ono, interviewed for New York Magazine (25 May 1981).
Or the partner he was looking for could be found in the (often dominant) person he was most emotionally invested in his whole life.
All I want is you / Everything has got to be just like you want it to
And in a society that establishes that the closest two people can be, the greatest intimacy they can share, the ultimate declaration of love is to live in a monogamous amorous relationship, is it any wonder that John felt he could only believe in their relationship if they were together like that? Is it any wonder that he would doubt Paul’s affections because Paul apparently wasn’t willing to express them like that?
JOHN: It’s a plus, it’s not a minus. The plus is that your best friend, also, can hold you without… I mean, I’m not a homosexual, or we could have had a homosexual relationship and maybe that would have satisfied it, with working with other male artists. [faltering] An artist – it’s more – it’s much better to be working with another artist of the same energy, and that’s why there’s always been Beatles or Marx Brothers or men, together. Because it’s alright for them to work together or whatever it is. It’s the same except that we sleep together, you know? I mean, not counting love and all the things on the side, just as a working relationship with her, it has all the benefits of working with another male artist and all the joint inspiration, and then we can hold hands too, right?
SHEVEY: But Yoko is a very independent person. Isn’t it— [inaudible]
JOHN: Sure, and so were the men I worked with. The only difference is she’s female.
SHEVEY: But you didn’t find it difficult to make that transition?
JOHN: Oh yeah. I mean, it took me four years. I’m still not – I’m still only coming through it, you know.
— Interview with Sandra Shevey (June 1972).
I know I keep posting this quote, but I don’t think he can make it more obvious than that: it’s not about the sex. Or rather, the sex is not the primary thing.
He didn’t push all those years because he was uncontrollably horny for Paul. John just wants a physical manifestation, a more tangible “proof”, of his emotional connections. He wants to be able to hold hands, be held and perhaps also have sex with his best friend; he needs those proofs of love through the means of physical affection because he won’t believe Paul’s love for him is there otherwise (or that it’s as great as John’s).
Would society normalizing other kinds of relationships – such as friendships – to be as important or on the same level as amorous (romantic/sexual) ones, have helped John and Paul? Most likely.
Would society normalizing same-sex amorous relationships have helped John and Paul? Perhaps. (For this one we would have to look more closely at Paul’s needs and desires.)
All this to say that John’s idea of sexuality was extremely influenced by society, and in his case, the rule “amorous relationships are the normative ones” outweighed the “heterosexual relationships are the normative ones”.
The conflict occurred when from Paul’s perspective, the priority of the rules was the other way around. I think Paul was ready to ignore society’s norm and live his life with his friendship with John as the most important relationship. But he also wanted a heterosexual one. (But more on that on a post of its own.)
For now, I hope I have more or less managed to express my thoughts on the matter of John’s sexuality.
Thank you so much for reading through all that and for reaching out in the first place! I truly appreciate it!

Troy Ladies and gents, in all my years— and I mean all of ‘em— I ain’t never seen anything like this! Not even comparatively close to what I’m lookin’ at right this instant. [faint sounds of police radio in bg]
Ben POINT. GET TO IT.
Troy Gosh darnit, Ben. I’m trying to sell the magnitude of what I’m feastin’ my eyes on!
Ben Who even knew you could see Libbydale Farms from so far out in the Kiss Ass Sea aboard the SS Backstabber.
Troy You know G-D well I’m not on a ship nor would it be called the SS Backstabber if I were. Don’t be so damn sore, Ben! Everybody knows I’m sorry! Plus- [kinda shyly] I reckon my ship be called the- USS Super Badass.
Sammy *pointedly clears throat* Troy. Ben. Let’s put our differences aside and let’s get to the matter at hand. So, Troy, you’re live at—?
Ben & Troy Libbydale Farms…
Troy & Ben I’m trying to talk!
Sammy GUYS!
Troy A-a-as I was sayin. I’m out here at the farm and out past the barns just hours ago, Old Man Libbydale called us in, and acres upon acres, boys, have been De.Stroyed out here.
Ben [accusingly] Where were yoouu, earlier this evening, Troy?
Troy Using my keen detective skills and ninja-like mental agility, I can see you’re trying to place me at the scene of the crime, little buddy. However Ol’ Troy was sawin’ logs next to the Mrs. before. my. shift.
Ben While crimes are being committed? *scoffs* Typical.
Troy Now that’s a low blow just be—
[shouting over each other] Ben NO! NO! Troy —low my pistol belt— Ben YOUU— N— TROOYY!— Troy — Ben come on— Ben — T— OHH Troy — this ain’t about the farm— Ben [mocking] OHH YEAHHH- OHHH YOU’RE SOOO— Troy — and you know— Ben —GOOD AT FIGHTING—
Sammy GUYS! GUYS! [“break it up kids”/dad-voice] I understand there’s renewed intensity between you two, but Ben, as co-host of this show and a respected journalist— put it away. Troy, you’re the first friend of the Sammy & Ben Show and a deputy sheriff. You guys don’t have to be best buddies, but let’s please report- on the news story- at hand.
Troy Couldn’t have said it better myself, Sammy.
Ben [hissed] Jesus.
Sammy So, Troy. Old Man Libbydale called you out— Acres of his lands destroyed. How so?
Troy Y’all ain’t gonna believe it, but you know I always shoot you straight… Two words: Crop. Circles.
Sammy [incredulous] Crop circles?
Troy It’s like a live action Led Zeppelin album cover as far as the eye can see! Big ones, little ones. The craziest damn designs you ever could imagine.
Ben Troy, I assume you and the rest of Gunderson’s thugs— I-mean-”deputies”— inspected the circles, and the surrounding areas, for man-made tools? There have been stories that men with boards tied to ropes can replicate what people believe crop circles to look like. Bending the crops at the right angles, etcetera… did you find—
Troy Didn’t find anything, Ben. Not a board… not a footprint… nothin’ but hunched over crops.
Ben So you think—?
Troy Oh, there isn’t a doubt in my mind it’s from the UFOs or those lights. I mean, whichever you wanna call it. No man made these! And in just a few hours to boot!
Sammy Okay. So, has this ever happened here before, Ben?
Ben No! Nor abductions! Not even lights being so close to town. The past few months- have been a hotbed for extraterrestrial activity— it would seem.
Sammy “It would seem”? So you aren’t certain?
Ben *scoff/laugh* I only said “it would seem” so you wouldn’t get all defensive about it.
Sammy Okay, alright. Well, as much as I hate to say it, I definitely feel there’s a lot more than meets the eye here in Kings Falls.
Ben I’m not one to say “I told you so”… But I DID tell you so!
Troy Just so everybody out there knows: Libbydale Farms is private property. So, unless you’re doing the dairy farm tour in mornin’, this is not an attraction for looky-loos. There is an official investigation still ongoin’ here. Plus, don’t nobody need another person gettin’ snatched up by the Martians either.
Ben *smug snort* Martians are from Mars, Troy. They aren’t representative of all extraterrestrials?.
Troy [defensive] Whatever— Ben Nye the Science Guy. I’m headin’ out to the field again. I might not be smart as Ben about the aliens and such, but I can definitely sniff out a spot where the Williams boys will come lookin’ for Mischief and Mayhem. [click]
[dial tone]
Sammy Deputy Troy, folks. Now, I didn’t realize you and Troy were still so angry at one another, Ben. You can’t let that hostility clou—
Ben THANKS, DAD! — We’re just gonna take a break to hear from one of our fine sponsors. Maybe Sammy here can talk to me about the birds and the bees after we get back.
Sammy [quietly] Maybe…
[disquieting, melancholic piano music]
Soft, disquieting voice What if what you thought wasn’t really what you thought you thought? … Ever think of that? … Here at the Institute of Science, we can help you become what you’ve always wanted to become… A better you, for a better mankind! Call us today for a free brochure and a C-meter reading. That’s “C” as in “cat.” … We’re coming King Falls… Be well! … And be ready.
[piano fades out]
[S&B theme]
Sammy You’re listening to King Falls AM and we are opening up the phone lines to you. 424-279-3858.
Ben We’ll be talking about the apparent crop circle- situation at Libbydale Farms. As well as if any of you out there have had any experience with this phenomenon.
Sammy So give us a call or tweet us @kingfallsam. So, you’ve heard our story, now let’s hear yours.
Ben Line 3.
Sammy Good evening, you’re live with Sammy and Ben.
Cynthia Good evening? For who? Certainly not King Falls!
Sammy Hi, Cynthia. How ‘bout you tell us how you really feel tonight.
Cynthia Weellll, to be honessst, I’m a little rattled over these gang signs the aliens are leaving on our turf. Literally.
Ben Cynthia— there is no way to tell if those circles are- angry orrr happy! even. They’re *huff/laugh* just symbols.
Cynthia So’s a swastika, Ben Arnold. Get your head out of your tuchus!
Sammy Okay, obviously, we aren’t trying to raise alarms here, Cynthia. It’s just, uh— it’s an interesting story. Especially here in our backyard. Would you not agree? Uh, you know, it’s not every day you can see this kind of handiwork – man-made or otherwise.
Cynthia You two sound sooo happy. We’re getting tagged in an intergalactic war and all of us in the Falls are sitting around at ground zero.
Ben I- don’t think that’s fair t—
Cynthia That’s the problem! You just. don’t. think! It’s all Tim Jenson’s fault, I just know it. We didn’t have any flying saucer, land-tattooing bedlam before he chased those lights.
Ben He didn’t “chase” anything! He was driving from work and called to report on a breaking news story.
Cynthia Watch your tone, Ben. I’ll buy one of those rabid, disease-ridden sugar flyers and toss it in Lake Hatchenhaw. just to spite you!
Sammy Goodnight, Cynthia.
Ben Sugar glider. And- they are. illegal.
Cynthia So are illegal aliens, but you’re just getting ready to throw ‘em a parade! I can’t! I just can’t! [click]
[dial tone]
Sammy Heh, alright, uh… Line 12, you’re live on King Falls AM.
Emily Hi, Sammy! Hi, Ben!
Ben Emily! I–I didn’t realize you were back in town!
Emily I just got back. I was listening on the way in! My mom and I actually drove by the farm and saw all the commotion over there. Police; reporters— big lawn-mower thingies…
Ben Lawn mowers?
Sammy Uh, y’ know, if you don’t mind me asking, Emily, why were you out of town?
Emily Oh, I flew out to Buford, Wyoming,[1] for the annual small town librarian expo! And I had my mom pick me up from the airport since— Ben was on the air.
Sammy Wow. So you guys are in the taking and picking up from the airport stage of yourrr—
Ben Friendship. Is that the- word- you’re- searching for, Sammy?
Sammy [kinda smug] Thaaat was exactly the one, Ben.
Emily *soft laugh* You guys are so silly. But I just wanted to say “hi” and tell Ben I’m back home now!— Oh! And starting next week, I’ve got a whole bunch of fun activities I learned from the expo to start doing at the library! Hopefully we can get some of the scared kids back now.
Ben I’ll call you later, Emily.
Emily Goodnight, Ben! Night, Sammy!
[click, dial tone]
Sammy Emily Potter, ladies and gents. King Falls Librarian and Ben’s… Friend.
Ben [shyly] Yeah-yeah… Lucky Line 1, you’re on King Falls AM.
Greg Hey, guys! It’s Greg Frickard!
Sammy Hi, Greg! You know, we appreciate you running the ads on the show, sir. It’s so nice to meet youuu… uh, over the phone, of course.
Greg Thanks, Sammy! I— think— we’ve- talked before, and uh, glad to run the spot! Me and Granny Frickard love the show! You should hop on down to the Froggery and we’ll hook ya up!
Sammy I might have to take you up on that offer, Greg!
Greg We’d love to have you! You too, Ben…
Ben Greg, you’re a lifelong King Falls resident… w-we’ve been talking about the crop circles out at –
Greg Oh I know. I’ve been listening, but— I was actually calling about- sssomething else— if that’s okay.
Sammy Uh, yyyeah. Sure thing, Greg. What’s on your mind?
Greg Well, I heard Ben and Miss Potter a second ago and they made a— declaration of friendship? Is that correct?
Sammy Oh! U-uh. Is- this about Emily?
Ben [suspicious] Did you- call before, when Emily was in the studio, Greg?
Greg Uh, noo… *nervous laugh* that must have beeeen… somebody else. But is that true, Ben? Are you and Miss Potter just friends?
Ben [terse] Good friends. *tsk* Close. Friends… Real close.
Greg Huhhh! … Well th- okay! That’s all I needed to know! Thanks a million, buddy.
Sammy Hey— Greg. You didn’t have a comment orr—
Greg Oh, no, no! I j— *chuckles* I don’t know the first thing about crop circles and— what-have-you. Uhh, it’s real interesting and all! but- Miss Potter’s lovely voice just… [sighing dreamily] speaks to me. I always just assumed that Ben and Emily were… “bf” and “gf” respectively, *laughs* but… if that’s not the case, thennn…
Sammy Ben? You okay?
Ben I don’t like putting our— personal lives out there in the public eye…
Greg Well, gee, Ben, I’m— only asking because ifff you’re into friendship with the lovely Miss Potter, and— I’m afraid, uhhh, I might just have to be into courtship. *chuckle* Granny wants to see me married before going into the great By-and-By—
Ben Bye-bye to you too! Greg. Looks like we lost line—
Greg I’m still here, pals! Now about that thing—
Ben [click, dial tone] Line 7, you’re on King Falls AM?
Sammy Did you just hang up onnn—
Ben I would never. LINE 7.
Herschel I’d like to place a complaint, rrright this instant.
Sammy Herschel?
Ben Is everything okay, Mr. Baumgartner?
Herschel Would I call into you nincompoops if everything was hunky-dory?
Ben I guess not… No.
Sammy So, what seems to be the issue, Herschel?
Herschel All this yackin’ about G-D UFOs and crop circles, for starters. Makes my damn d[bleep]k itch.
Sammy Sir! This is—
Herschel Did you call me to tell me what to think, comrade? Or did I call you to talk about an issue?
Sammy Please continue, Mr. Baumgartner…
Herschel Thank you. So, I’m out on the lake tonight— got up brright and early, so I could make sure I got my special spot.
Ben “Got up early”? It’s— just now a little past 2…
Herschel You the sleep police?! Ya little bastard… I thought not.
Ben Sorry, Herschel.
Herschel So I’m trollin, out on the… well. That parts Top Secret, boys. But I’m trollin, so I don’t scare the bigguns away, and those g[bleep]ddamn sons of b[bleep]chin’ rainbow lights start blowin’ through the sky. Looked like Joseph’s Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat[2] was fightin’ that big Jap lizard!
Sammy Godzilla? Please don’t use derogatory wor—
Herschel McCarthy[3] would’a skinned your ass alive, you Red[4] sack ‘a sh[bleep]t! Can I tell my story?!
Sammy Of course, I’m just asking you not to—
Ben [quickly] I’m on the button. Sammy. Heh. Herschel’s gonna Herschel!
Sammy Okay. So, you saw the lights tonight…
Herschel Saw ‘em? Hell. They scared the literal piss out of me. Got a trickle down my Carhartts[5] look like the state of Florida. I’m out here naked as a jaybird! Not a fish in sight.
Ben I’m sorry, did you just reference a musical, Mr. Baumgartner?
Herschel Oh, just ‘cause I like some colorful metaphors, means I can’t be refined, Ben?!
Ben I wasn’t— I didn’t– im-imply— I’m-I’m just saying—
Herschel [softly, for Herschel] Ol’ Mrs. Baumgartner, (god rest your sexy soul, Edna), used to love those hippy-dippy singing plays. And I’d do anything to keep in those pants, fellas.
Sammy Oh, god.
Ben Awww. [pleading] Can we get back to the lights?
Herschel That Edna. Oh, lemme tell ya… Oh! Uh, yeah– the damn lights! Yeah, so, I saw ‘em. What the hell else am I supposed to tell ya about it?!
Sammy Well, you were calling to complain about them, I’m sure.
Herschel That’s right! I’d like to report that no-good drunkard! Cecil Sheffield! Called that cumbersome ass-wart damn near 15 times to come bring me a pair of skivvies to no avail! Avoiding my calls and his duties as the co-winner of this damn boat!
Ben It’s— so late, Mr. Baumgartner. I’m-I’m sure he’s sleeping now.
Herschel You would take up with him!
Sammy W-well, Ben’s just sayin’ that he isn’t avoiding you so much as he’s, you know— probably asleep.
Herschel Sleeping one off! Soggy son of a b[bleep]h. He knows if I ring the special line, it’s a damn emergency.
Ben So, you guys have made up?
Herschel Made up my ass! If he’s gonna be “co”-anything with Herschel F. Baumgartner, that tally-whacker’s gonna have to keep up his end of the bargain.
Sammy To be at your beck and call in case you… soil yourself…
Herschel Don’t be crass!
Ben So, you guys are actually sharing the boat? That’s awesome! I figured you only—
Herschel I ain’t sharin a damn thing with that son of a b[bleep]h! Stop stirrin’ the pot or I’ll make what Charlie did to John McCain look like foreplay, Ben Arnold!
Sammy So, to the point. You’re calling to complain about Cecil because he’s sleeping through your time of need?
Ben But! He is corroborating seeing the lights, Sammy! That’s a big deal.
Herschel Just have an intern or something bring me some britches and stop fiddle fu[bleep]ing fuss! 32 long! I’ll be at Begley’s. He’s probably peering out his window lookin for a damn show… I don’t like beige! [click]
[dial tone]
Sammy You’re on King Falls AM with Sammy and Ben.
Riley Please hold the line for Mayor Grisham.
Sammy This again?
Ben *groans*
Sammy You know, I wonder, do you wake him when we say special keywords, or…?
Riley Mayor? You’re on with Sammy and Ben.
Grisham Sammy. Ben. I hate to rain on your little topic of discussion tonight, but let’s shut it down. It’d be much appreciated.
Ben What??
Sammy The always-fair, Mayor Grisham, folks. Remember this come election time next year.
Grisham Do you think that a public servant should have to call the local “Tom & Joe Chucklehut Show” to ask them not to jeopardize a police investigation?
Sammy Do you ever call Channel 13 and tell them what to report and how? We are a topical late night talk show, Grisham.
Grisham Mayor.
Sammy I didn’t vote for you.
Grisham Fair enough. I don’t expect you to respect anything but your own pathetic grab for ratings. Now, regarding Channel 13—
Ben Sorry, Mayor. Obviously, Sammy is flustered. He wouldn’t have used such a bad example if he was thinking straight—
Grisham The answer to your question, Sammy, is no. I wouldn’t call in and tell a reputable news agency how to do their job. BUT, amazingly enough, I continue to have to ask you to stop your rhetoric— seemingly once a month or so. Interesting, don’t you think?
Ben You do realize the only people that watch Channel 13 are drunks that can’t find the remote and animals left alone with the TV on, right?
Grisham Whatever helps you sleep better, Ben. I can tell you for a fact that, right now, Storm Sanders is probably not working a “local yokel” interview and digging up the muck. He’s reporting on city ordinance 29.44371.
Ben Storm is knee deep in a barrel of backyard bathtub hooch during commercial breaks.
Sammy So, Mayor. What is this ordinance? Ya know, since we aren’t reporting the news to your liking, give us a glimpse into what works for you.
Grisham The add-on to the local YMCA? The new menu over at Rose’s! I’m not paid a handsome salary to do your job.
Sammy Oh, right! I forget you think you can dictate what we report on, for free.
Ben Sammy… they’re destroying the crop circles! That’s the ordinance!
Grisham There’s hope for you yet, Ben. Don’t go down with this ship. I’ll put a good word in for you elsewhere.
Sammy You son of a b[bleep]h! You’re destroying the crop circles?! That could be the only thing that brings Tim Jenson home!
Grisham Don’t bring Tim Jenson into this! The city is paying Libbydale Farms a fair share for their remaining crops! But it is in the public’s best interest to mow down this batch of mischief accordingly! Especially after this broadcast.
Sammy *derisive scoff/laugh* You are despicable.
Grisham These affairs aren’t your business to ramble on about… Do the weather! Talk about traffic! I mean, I filled those potholes! Stop making trouble!
Sammy Freedom of the Press. When your assistant isn’t typing out our every word, maybe have her look it up and tell you all about it.
Grisham I can’t wait to hear about it! And here’s a little phrase for you to look up too! OBSTRUCTION OF JUSTICE.
Sammy Uh-huh.
Grisham Do you think using your connections to officers of the law to report on “breaking news” is fine and dandy, Stevens?? *sniffs* You are perverting the course of this case. Things— especially ongoing issues— aren’t meant to be talked about until all the facts are out there! And you— *sniffs* IDIOTS are playing on the scene, reporting with your bagel-eating buddy! who happens to be a cop.
Ben *scoffs* ‘s not my buddy.
Sammy BEN.
Ben I’m not throwing you under the bus, Sammy. I just hate Troy.
Grisham So, the moral of the story would be, gents… some things require couth. Some things require kid gloves when handling. And most things don’t need to be aired in the public for ratings and entertainment. A perfect example being how, I’m sure Sheriff Gunderson will handle Deputy Krieghauser on his own, for calling into this joke of a show with police business constantly. Doubt you’ll see that done during a press conference.
Ben Uh… is that… really necessary, sir?
Grisham This show is a breeding ground for incompetence, and you’re now dragging your pals down with you. Straighten Up and Fly Right.
Sammy Troy doesn’t need to be punished for you to make your point, Grisham.
Grisham Out Of My Hands… I’ve already had Riley send my opinions on it over to the good sheriff! Now again, I ask you: pick a different topic of discussion. Maybe one that won’t lead to the continued pain and misery for all those around you. Night night, fellas! [click]
[dial tone]
Sammy [quickly] I’m gonna call Troy.
Ben Umm, uh *nervous stuttering* W-we’ll be back after this— King Falls. We’ll- we’ll take some- calls about uhh… *helpless scoff* I guess we’ll- see…
[KFAM outro]

Till the End- Chapter 2
So this chapter has a lot of Schneeplestein talking and changed the text to match his German accent. If you’re confused let me know and I can explain something.  I took German for 5 years so I think I’ve got a pretty good handle on how it should look/sound :)
Chapter 1
The Doctor’s Pursuit
“Yes sir, it vent exactly as planned out. You see, vhat did I tell you, the operation vas a vun hundred percent success. Yes, please tell Cynthia I vill be on vacation for a veek. Alright danke,” Doctor Henrik von Schneeplestein hung up his phone, as he walked through the door of his apartment and set it and his keys down. Henrik threw his lab coat on the coat rack and went into the kitchen.
As he walked in, he felt a cold breeze and noticed the window was slightly opened. He walked over and closed it. Schneeplestein opened his liquor cabinet and pulled out two glasses and a bottle of whiskey, pouring two glasses. “Sure, make yourself at home Brody. Vhy not have a drink,” He turned, holding both glasses. The doctor came face to face with Chase, who seemed only a little bit shocked.
Not saying anything at first, Schneep just handed Brody the whiskey. “How did you,” Chase stammered.
“I’ve spent months looking over my shoulder. I know vhen my life is in danger,” He raised his glass and took a sip. “Und vhen it is not,” He vaguely said.
Part of Chase felt insulted, but the other part understood. Schneeplestein was the first ego Anti targeted, needless to say it left him with a little PTSD. After they fixed Henrik up, and he was healthy enough to be on his own, no one was surprised that he left without a trace. This was the first Chase had seen the doctor since he disappeared.
Chase took a drink. “How have you been Doc?” He asked trying to be polite to the person whose house he just broke into.
Henrik set his glass on the counter and sighed. “Vhy don’t ve just cut to dee chase. Vhy are you hier?” He could tell the doc wasn’t too pleased to see Chase. Even though he was being nice enough, his German accident became thicker whenever he got mad.
The other ego rubbed the back of his neck. “Sean said he tried to contact you,”
“Ja, und I ignored him,” Henrik finished for him.
Chase took a breath, keeping his patience. “We need your help to take down Anti.”
-A few hours ago-
“No way in hell is Henrik ever going to help us!” Jackie boy yelled.
Jack rubbed the bridge of his nose. He was now sitting on the ground as well, across from the couch with a coffee table between him and Jackie. “Well he won’t if I ask him. Since it’s my fault Anti got to him in the first place.”
“Sean,” Signe started in a warm voice.
“It is!”
“No it’s not Sean! He saved you because he decided to. Anti attacking him is not your fault,” Signe finished. Sean just shook his head, not convinced at all.
There was a long moment of silence between them all. They all knew if they were going to stand any chance against the glitch then they’d need someone with medical training. “I’ll do it,” Chase finally said standing. “Jack wasn’t the only one there for him when he needed him. I’ll talk to him and see what I can do. But I make no promises,”
“There is no way in hell I’m going to help you,” Henrik stated, going into the dining room now and starting up his laptop, seemingly just ignoring Chase.
“Henrik please we need you,” Chase begged, following close behind the doctor.
“I am not taking part in your little suicide mission,” Hernik determined. He typed on his computer, but Chase couldn’t tell what he was doing. The doctor turned to Chase, a serious look in his eyes. “Und dis is vhy,” He moved aside and let Chase look at his screen.
On his laptop, Henrik had pulled up all kinds of forums and theory discussion boards all focused on Anti. They were all centered around the “#Overnight watch” from Jack’s holiday live stream. “Anti’s power comes from his attention. If you try und take him on now, it vill not end well for you Mr. Brody. Und I can not guarantee I will be able to bring you back again.”
“Then work with us and make it less of a suicide mission. Come on doc, we need you!” gain Chase begged.
The doctor shook his head, looking at his hands folded on the table. He’d work so hard for this new life. When he left the egos, he wanted to be a real doctor again. He wanted to break away from all the madness. And now Chase was here to take that away. As much as he enjoyed all their pleasantries, losing what he’d been working for so long for wasn’t worth the fight. A fight against Anti wouldn’t end well for them. “I’m sorry Brody,” He muttered. “I can’t go back again. Fighting that glitch will only lead you to an early grave,” He explained.
Chase nodded. Part of him couldn’t help but agree. It was hard to think they stood a chance, but Sean seemed pretty confident in them, so maybe they could. But Chase didn’t want to without Henrik. “Right. I won’t force you to help us,” Chase’s voice coated in sadness. “But you know where to find us if you change your mind.”
The doctor didn’t look up as Chase left through the front door. Once he was gone, Henrik sped to the door, locking it behind the other ego. A habit he caught after his encounter with Anti. Always keep your doors locked. Henrik shut his laptop down and cleaned up the whiskey. He had to move on. This was the only way he could get over what happened. “Sorry Jack,” He muttered to himself.

oh ok so fun fact! u totally have multiple fe anons now! XD theres def at least 2 of us, maybe more tho. im NOT the anon from the last ask, but dragons gate idea! holy shit. this is the Dream Scenario, tell me more. like i think the trio would be way more comfy staying knowing they could visit home whenever they wanted. how do encounters with the other future kids go? i imagine that tho they bicker they actually care about one another quite a bit? do the royal sibs get shovel talked?
Multiple!!! Anons!! I guess I’ve been suspecting that for a bit now but it’s finally been #confirmed and I’m still as surprised as if it were day one, lol. I’ve been addressing some asks as though they’re all from the same anon when they’re probably not. Whoops! At least I can be more careful from here on out ;)
Dragon’s Gate Scenario (where the timelines between Nohr and Ylisse actually match up) is best scenario because allowing the Trio to visit their family and and friends without leaving Nohr behind makes my heart warm and happy. I agree that they’d be wayyyy more comfy with this ability.  (Also buckle up bc we’re about to talk about some timeline stuff right here)
I’m pretty convinced most the fe13 crew thinks the Awakening Trio is dead by now, tbh. Which makes me so sad!!! And I don’t want it to be true!! But from what it seems, Anankos showed up right when all the future kids were gonna split ways and was like “please save my kingdom” and threw a paper with where to meet (probably wraped around a brick or something and it nearly hits Inigo, lmao) and then he left. So Owain, Inigo, and Severa go off to check it out, but?? They probably didn’t except to be gone for literal years? Because it’s definitely been years.
I think Selena makes some comment that implies she remembers Corrin as a young child but that feels a little too long for me/they still look pretty young in-game, so to me, the Trio has probably been in Nohr for like five (5) years or so? That’s just personal opinion. That number can change, but it’s for sure been years.
When they meet, Anankos is pretty explicit about the fact if they’re going to help him, they have to leave Right Now. No time to send a letter or say goodbye or anything. Instant decision. And the Trio makes the mythical heroic one, the sacrificial one, but at what cost?
It takes a month to travel from Yllise to the meeting place, so all the parents were probably expecting to hear back from their future kids after like a month. And then they… didn’t.
Some of them probably keep hope. Lissa insists that she’d know if her son were gone, she’d feel it, and most believe that she thinks so but Maribelle knows she worries. And with how close Maribelle and Lissa are, Owain and Brady probably grew up together, practically brothers, and Brady’s doubts eat at him like a black hole and he cries practically every time he thinks about it, about the letters he’s never gotten, about the travels they didn’t get to have together now that the war was over, and Owain’s dead, probably, because of something stupid or heroic or both and Brady wasn’t even there to heal him, couldn’t even do that, so useless and—
Sometimes Cynthia sits with him and doesn’t try to cheer him up when he blubbers and at least once she mentions that they aren’t her kinds of heroes, but Owain always liked the type that showed up at the very last second. She’s kinda hoping he’ll still jump out at some point. Who knew being a lone hero was so lonely? She doesn’t say anything after that, and then Brady’s all out of tears.
Olivia practices dances that require two people and waits for her grown son to come home, knowing he probably won’t. Her baby isn’t big enough to dance yet, and that’s amazing and she loves this little bundle of joy and the future she’s going to have with him that another version of her didn’t reach, but she still misses Inigo. Gerome wanted to live a life of solitude with Minerva and the other wyverns and he got it. He sees the other kids the least out of anyone and he knows better than to expect anything good out of the world even with the cruelest future averted, but even he sometimes catches himself staring at his open palm, trying to remember how Inigo’s hand felt in his own when the fool was trying to convince Gerome to come back in time, please, and then when Gerome relented, in the new world Inigo was always pawing at him anyway to come visit these women or that event and—
Gerome has been stuck in the past long enough. He has to look ahead. His hand aches.
Noire was friends with Inigo and Sevena both, and maybe she had a crush on both of them, maybe. Or at least the potential for a crush. Or something adjacent to one. She loved them both so fiercely, the way only dying things loved (because they were all doomed from the start up until they weren’t), and at some point it didn’t matter if she teetered on the edge of romance or not, she loved them. Inigo always flirted with every girl under the sun but her, but it never mattered because in the end she always worried over him anyway. He never learned. And she misses the way Severa would fuss over her too. Sometimes she still wakes up in the night and wishes Severa were there to guide her, even though she’s long since past any need for hand-holding or fussing. She still wants it.
(Sometimes she makes a cake and wonders what Owain would have named it. The sugar always tastes sour those days.)
Cordelia knows better than anyone how greedy war can be, what it can take within seconds. The problem with that is that the war is supposed to be over, but she seems to have lost her daughter anyway. She’s broken her promise never to leave her daughter alone again. Maybe it’s fate; maybe Cordelia is always meant to be the lone survivor. She wishes a lot of things.
Kjelle hasn’t touched makeup since the time Severa tried to teach it to her and she forgot more important things, like how to hold a shield. Sometimes she catches herself staring at the lines of kohl on other girl’s faces and wondering what Severa would have thought, though. Usually that leads to chopping wood and practicing stances for hours on end until she can’t feel her fingers anymore. Kjelle’s never been much for words or contemplation outside the material—what would this move do against that one, is her armor the proper weight still—but she catches herself wondering what Severa would say about trinkets in the store windows more often than she would like. Laurent and Severa have always been opposits, but it worked, somehow, for them, even if it led to bickering more often than not. She forced him out of his comfort zone, and he tempered her, or so he thought. Perhaps Severa would have matured naturally with age. Laurent can come up with a thousand hypotheses now, but he’s never going to know the truth. Not anymore.
And it’s not just them, it’s everyone. It’s Nah missing chasing Inigo around when she got mad at him, though she didn’t really mean it. It’s Yarne missing Severa’s perseverance, her constant push at him to do better. It’s Lucina missing her cousin, who she always admired with the imagination she didn’t quite have and the bravery she shared with him. It’s everyone. They all miss each other in a hundred different ways, and the Trio misses them and home like a drowning man whose adapted to the ocean but can still taste the salt.
Uhhhh, that got sad, but anyway!! You’d bet everyone would be ECSTATIC  to find Owain/Severa/Inigo alive and well. There would be many a tear. Kjelle would probably punch something. Brady would try to yell at them but he’d be sobbing too hard to actually say anything. Nah would roar with all the power of the dragon she is, and everyone’s parents would hold them hard and not want to let go. Lucina would beam and Gerome would let go of the little string of tension that had been wrapped around his heart for the past few years and Laurent would have to compose himself and Cynthia would be doing flips, and you know there’d be so much yelling. So much. The story would have to come out in bits and pieces because they’d constantly be interrupting one another, on both sides.
I’ve definitely been focusing on the sadder parts of this idea and not the happier ones, so while this answer is getting long, let me try to fix that real fast.
There’s guaranteed to be a lot of fussing over the Trio, who are now like 5 years older than when they last left and maybe? possibly? still disguised with Anankos’ magic? Maybe also that vanishes when they step through the Gate. Unknown. What is also guaranteed, however, is how much fussing the Nohrians get when visiting officially as a mixed group of royals and the Trio’s BFs/GFs.
Xander charms the pants of Olivia, hands down. He’s genuine and kind and charming, and when his back is turned, Olivia looks at her son and blushes because hot damn. Inigo picked a catch.  Inigo sees her look and wants to sink into the floor, but she’s not wrong. Also he feels 12 all over again. Olivia offers to dance for him and Inigo wants to join in and he also wants to watch and he’s also too shy to want to dance in front of anybody, even just Xander and his mom, and it makes for an interesting visit for sure.
Leo passes Aunt/Other Mother Maribelle’s Scrutiny Test, but Niles, for all the effort he’s putting in to make a good impression, probably doesn’t. Owain insists Niles isn’t really that bad, he’s loyal like nothing else, and that’s at least a benefit in Maribelle’s book. She’s still suspicious of his seemingly shady character and all the effort he’s putting into looking good for her (because the fact he has to put in effort at all is suspicious to her, and it would have been suspicious if he were a prince or a farmer or anything other than a thief turned royal retainer. The only reason she can’t pin anything on Leo is because he keeps pulling out obscure knowledge to answer all her probing questions and has only the utmost manners. She’s waiting for him to make a cultural faux pas), but Owain is grown now. He can make his own decisions.  Besides, if Lissa isn’t complaining, she can’t either. Lissa loves Niles and Leo both. Lissa maybe catches them unawares with the old “bucket of frogs over the doorway” trick, though. She hasn’t changed.
Cordelia’s happy to meet whoever her daughter loves, so long as they give Severa the love she deserves and pretty obviously craves. Not that Cordelia can talk, since she’s been absent from Severa’s life long enough too. She just worries like any normal mother. That Beruka girl is a little stony, but Camilla seems to have enough love for the both of them combined, even if she is a little intimidating too. Cordelia is mostly satisfied. She tries to keep her back straight when they’re looking at her, though. She’s never been one to be intimidated, but she wonders how Severa’s been faring in the seemingly dark land of Nohr. Well, if Severa has people she cares about there, she figures her daughter must be doing pretty well.
(P.S. I can do more specific reactions if there was something you had in mind! I’m not sure anyone would give a Shovel Talk because I’m not too much a fan of that trope? I feel like it disregards the agency of whoever the Talker is trying to “protect”. I’d say Kjelle might give one, but she might just end up admiring Camilla’s muscles instead. Henry might (for whoever you picture him the father of), albeit unintentionally. I think it’s canon Henry would do Literally Anything asked of him for those he loves, so I can see that fact slipping pretty easily into conversation, even accidentally.
The one most likely to intentionally pull a Shovel Talk move is Noire, probably. Against Xander, even though she likes Xander. Because Inigo never really did learn in the army, and she doesn’t know if Laslow’s learned anything yet. Probably not.)
tl;dr the Kids all Love each other So Much. They grew up together in a destroyed world and at the end of the day, they all know they always have each other, and the Trio being missing is like a hole in their hearts even when the rest of the fe13 kid cast are all on their separate travels

DEH fanfic/script Part 1
Pan in on CONNOR and EVAN in the living room of their small apartment. They are cleaning up from game night that just took place. EVAN is putting the pieces to Monopoly back in the box.
Evan: Can we just take a minute to laugh at Jared and Alana? *giggles*
Connor: I know *smiles that huge smile and swipes a piece of hair behind his ear* they're not fooling anyone.
Evan: Not to mention them pretending not to partner up in monopoly.
Connor: Definitely under the table black market kind of shit.
EVAN laughs and puts the box in the closet.
Evan: Looks like we're done. I'm gonna head to bed *fidgets with shirt then walks toward the hallway*
CONNOR grabs EVAN'S wrist and spins him into a tight hug.
Connor: *whispers in his ear* Not without me you’re not.
EVAN pushes up on his toes to brush a long strand of hair out of CONNOR's eyes then kisses him sweetly (P u r E)
CONNOR takes EVAN's hand and leads him upstairs where CONNOR helps EVAN remove his red polo shirt and then lowers him onto the bed. CONNOR places sweet kisses on EVAN's shoulder while EVAN removes CONNORS shirt. They kiss until the kiss d become deeper. Stronger. More passionate.
PAN OVER TO a pair of black pants that have now been thrown on the ground. Out of the corner we see a message from MOM on the screen but we don't see the message.
PAN OVER TO the now entangled CONNOR AND EVAN. They are facing each other with their legs entwined and CONNOR's arm around EVAN's waist. EVAN is tracing patterns on CONNOR's free hand.
Connor: *sighs heavily* How are you so perfect? You surprise me every night.
Evan: I-I don't know *he chuckles nervously*
Connor: Well however you do it doesn't really matter, I'm lucky to have you Evan.
Evan: *huge smile spreads across his face// he never feels this accepted unless he's with Connor* *all he can muster to say is-* I love you Connor Murphy.
Connor: *kisses Evan's forehead* I love you too Evan Hansen.
They fall asleep together and then BLACK OUT
FADE IN on CONNOR's bed side table where we see a clock say 3:13 and their home phone starts ringing with the caller ID of Cynthia Murphy.
CONNOR stirs but as the ringer gets louder he finally wakes up and reaches for the phone. EVAN wakes up as soon as the answer button is pressed.
Connor:
Mom why didn't you just call my ce-
*pause*
What? Wait mom slow down.
*pause*
Wait Zoe is?
*pause*
Okay I'll be right there
*line disconnects*
*turns to Evan* I have to go.
Evan: What's going on babe?
Connor: Nothing. I don't want you to worry. You're always trying to be my hero. You deserve a break so go back to sleep.
Evan: Listen, if something's the matter I need to know.
CONNOR hesitates. EVAN places his hand over CONNOR's.
Connor: I-It's Zoe. She's- *more hesitation* *Evan stares at him with earnest eyes* She's in the hospital. There was an accident and I have to get there.
Evan: *squeezes his hand* I'm sorry but you must know that I'm coming with you. It's your sister. I want to support you.
Connor: *turns face away cause hair to shield his face* You are always trying to protect me and I-I appreciate it but you don't need to be my guardian angel.
Evan: And you are stubborn and believe you can do everything alone. *Connor scoffs* Listen, do you remember the first day we ever hung out? *Evan used his finger to brush hair behind Connor's ear*
Connor: Ya, I guess. At the orchard right? *now facing Connor*
Evan: Exactly. The summer before senior year of high school we were sitting under a tree and we promised each other that we'd never have to feel alone as long as we had each other. We're 22 now and I still stand by that promise Connor. I am always going to stand by your side.
Connor: *a single tear pools at the base of his eye and when he blinks trails down. Evan kisses his cheek stopping the tear from reaching his chin* Th-thank you (he barely whispers)
CUT TO: CONNOR racing through the doors of the ER wing with EVAN trailing not too far behind. To the left we see Larry, Cynthia, and Heidi huddled together in the waiting room. Both EVAN and CONNOR yell MOM! in unison and embrace their mothers.
Cynthia: Oh Connor thank god you're here. I tried to get ahold of your cell but it must've been dead.
Connor: Yea mom it's fine, I'm fine, but where's Zoe?
Larry: Like you care.
Connor: Nice to see you too dad.
Larry: Sorry it's just I'm surprised to see you showed up. You act like you hate your sister and you can't even bother to answer your mother's calls because you’re off doing god knows what with him *points a disapproving finger at Evan*
Connor: *getting angry* Me and Zoe aren't close because of the (sorry mom) SHIT I put her through in high school, but she's still family. And "him" has a name. Evan. And he's my boyfriend and I could care less if you disapprove of my (sorry again mom) FUCKING SEXUALITY. Oh and- *Evan rushes over and squeezes his hand* *Connor takes a deep breath and sighs* Look dad, can we please just put the past behind us for one night and support Zoe.
Larry: I'm here to support my daughter but I don't have to sit here and pretend I approve of you and forgive you for everything. *stands up and storms out*
Heidi: I'm sorry Connor. Your dad is just tense. Thank you for sticking up for my son though.
CYNTHIA nods in agreement.
Cynthia: Your sister is in room 9. She got hit by a drunk driver. Luckily there is no damage to the head or spine so she's not in critical condition. But her left leg did get trapped under the dash and it broke in two places. You can't go in yet but the doctor is supposed to let us know when we can. Oh and about your dad, he's just worried for his daughter. He didn't mean any of that.
Connor: Thanks mom, but you know better than anyone that he meant every word. *plops down on a chair and rubs his forehead*
DOCTOR walks into the waiting room.
Doctor: Zoe lost a lot of blood but is in stable condition. We are going to take her into immediate surgery, and only family can have 15 minutes with her. Be warned, she is heavily medicated and slightly confused. Her speech may be shaky.
EVAN squeezes CONNOR's thigh.
Evan: Tell her I say to get better soon and good luck in surgery.
CONNOR nods.
Connor: I wish you could come in with me.
Evan: Me too, but you're strong. You've got this.
Connor: You should be a coach. You're really amazing at pep-talks. *laughs nervously*
Evan: *grins and kisses Connor's cheek* Go! Go on! I'll be right here.
CONNOR and CYNTHIA round the corner and make their way down the hall where LARRY is waiting by ZOE's door. They all walk in and we PAN back over to EVAN and HEIDI.
Evan: I'm gonna call Alana and Jared. They're gonna want to be here.
Heidi: *nods* you're a good kid Evan.
Evan: *walks over and hugs her* thanks mom.
CAMERA follows EVAN as he walks down the hall, toward the elevator, and out the front doors.
CUT TO: ZOE's ER. ZOE is laying with her leg propped up and a tube in her nose. LARRY and CYNTHIA are on either side of the bed holding both of her hands and CONNOR is pressed up against the wall. Half in the shadows/half in the light.
Cynthia: Hey honey, we're here.
Zoe: Mom? Dad? I'm s-so sorry-- th- the car.
Larry: You lost a lot of blood sweetheart, you need to rest. Don't worry about the car.
Cynthia: The doctor told us they would be taking you into surgery for your leg. We wanted to see you before you went under.
CONNOR steps out of the shadows and makes his way to the foot of the hospital bed.
Connor: I have faith that you'll make it through this. You're a strong girl.
Zoe: C-connor? W-why are y-you here?
Connor: To support my sister.
Zoe: N-no you hate me. I-I'm confused. You're never w-worried about me.
CONNOR rushes to her side, pushing LARRY out of the way.
Connor: No no! Zoe, I know I've treated you terribly in the past but I've grown up and hopefully after this surgery we can become close again. I'm very sorry, but you're still family. Of course I'd be here.
Zoe: A-again?! W-we were never close c-Connor! You screamed at me and t-told me you hated me and you were going to k-kill me in high sc-school!
LARRY notices the machine beeping.
Larry: Connor! Her blood pressure is going up! Get out of here! Now!
Connor: I'm so sorry. I love you Zoe. Good luck.
CONNOR races out of the room, past EVAN, HEIDI, and now JARED and ALANA, through the halls, down 4 flights of stairs, out the front doors, and straight to the car where he gets in the passenger side and hang his head. He starts balling. EVAN is soon tap-tap-tapping on the glass, and climbing into the car.
Connor: Just when I think things are going good, they're fucking not. It seems like my sister will never forgive me for the past. And don't even get me fucking started on fucking Larry. He can go rot in hell for insulting us like that.
Evan: Hey, your sister will forgive you. It takes time and perseverance. As for your dad, he's an asshole, but not everyone is going to approve of us.
Connor: *waves hands around violently* I know, but it all still pisses me off. I'm just trying to be okay and move on, but it's days like this I wish I took those fucking pills.
EVAN looks shocked, then hurt. He looks down and fidgets with his shirt. CONNOR realizes what he just said.
Connor: Shit. Evan. I didn't mean it. I have you, and wouldn't have if I did take them, but it still…
Evan: P-pisses you off?
Connor: *sighs and slumps down* Yep.
Evan: Let's just go home. Zoe will be okay. It's an easy surgery and you need some sleep. *puts the car in gear and pulls out*
CONNOR whispers a “thank you”. BLACK OUT.

If you made it down this far, you fucking rock. Part 2 coming soon!!

I Can’t Believe You!
Ship: Evan Hansen x Reader
Warnings: Panic attack, swearing, brief online bullying, talk of suicide.
A/N: Requested for the sentence prompt, “I can’t believe you!” I really hope this is what you meant. In this, you take Zoe’s place. I switched around the lyrics to words fail and took some dialogue from this scene in the show, because I felt that the words they already spoke/sang were so important. I don’t know how I feel about this, and I still don’t know how to end things but regardless I hope you enjoy. I’m thinking of making a pt2 where they meet up in the future to talk this over, but I’m not sure. Let me know if anybody wants that!
-Mod Rae
It's funny how everything can change in a moment.
Your phone rang. Grabbing it and seeing a blocked number, you swiped to answer.
"Who is it? Who is it, (y/n)?" Larry questioned.
You ignored your dad. You just wanted to see what the person on the other line had to say to you.
"Connor said all of his hope was pinned on you," the voice spat. "You're a stuck up bitch; I hope you feel what Connor felt."
"Have fun with your miserable life, bye." You mumbled, hanging up.
Honestly, you were expecting any phone call or text to be some form of harassment at this point, but that didn't mean it didn't hurt you.
It all happened so fast.
Everything was going so well for your family. Evan had given your family your brother back, started a successfully inspirational project in his honor, helped all of you grieve, and most recently become your perfect boyfriend. You couldn't ask for more, if you were telling the truth. It was like this was how things were meant to be. But all good things come to an end, right?
You came home from school one day. It had been odd; maybe it was your imagination, but it seemed like people were ignoring you all day. Some flashing nasty looks at you, even. Tired out from paranoid thoughts running through your mind for 8 hours, you flopped down onto your bed and groaned. After staring at the ceiling for a few minutes, you felt your phone ping.
New message from Evan <3: Are you okay?
Furrowing your brows in confusion, you unlocked your phone and typed back a quick, "yeah why?"
New message from Evan <3: Are you sure?.. If you don't want to talk about it I won't make you but I want you to know I am here for you..
To Evan <3: Huh? Evan, what are u talking about?
New message from Evan <3: You don't know?...
To Evan <3: What? Did something happen? Call me please
Moments later, you saw Evan's contact pop up on your phone as it rang. You picked up immediately.
"Ev?"
He was silent.
"Evan, what's going on? Is everything okay?" You asked nervously.
"(Y/n).. I think, um.. You need to check your social media, (y/n)." He muttered, clearly distraught.
He was too quiet for you to be comfortable. You felt your stomach churn. Pulling up your Instagram first, you saw 9 different new tagged photos of you along with 19 comments. What? That couldn't be right. Pressing on the tagged photos first, you noticed screenshots of what appeared to be a letter. Out of nervous curiosity, you pressed on one to read it. Mumbling it out to yourself, you read the first sentence.
"Dear Evan Hansen,  turns out today wasn't an amazing day after all."
Your blood ran cold. You knew these words. This was the letter Connor had in his back pocket when he took his life. How did people get this? You flipped back to your notifications page and began reading through the new comments.
Fuck the murphy's.
Connor deserved better than you heartless god-awful people. I hope you burn.
Connor wrote his suicide note to evan hansen cause he knew his family didn't give a shit.
(Y/n)'s parents, by the way, are insanely rich. maybe they should have spent their money on helping their son.
You're a disgusting excuse for a sister.
You closed out of the app quickly, not able to look at anything else.
You were too engulfed in your own confusion and panic to hear Evan calling to you through the phone. He hung up without you realizing. Feeling as if the world was crashing down around you, you felt hot tears begin to fall and leaned over your bed, breathing faster. Before you could even fully process what was going on, Evan burst through your door.
He ran to you, taking you in his arms and pushing hair away from your face. "(Y/n)? God, I- I'm so sorry. Listen to me, okay? Please listen to me." He begged. Your breathing stayed fast and tears remain in your eyes, but you looked up at Evan.
"How did people get this?" You asked. You thought you saw something inside of him crumple, but you didn't point it out. When he didn't say anything, you abruptly stood up. "We have to show my parents."
"O-okay." Evan stuttered. You took his hand and lead him to the kitchen table, calling out for your parents. They joined you both, and you explained your social media and they checked theirs as well. Unsurprisingly, their Facebook notifications were flooding with the same brutal remarks. So here you were, your family gathered around the table yelling and arguing over a computer, while Evan stood nervously by the wall. You'd hung up your phone and went back to screaming with your family.
Your dad grabbed your cell, shutting it off. "You don't take more calls from blocked numbers, do you understand me?" He ordered. You didn't answer.
"Maybe right now the best thing to do is to wait and see if this blows over." Larry advised.
Cynthia laughed bitterly. "That's always your solution isn't it; just do nothing?"
"Is that what i said?"
"Wait and see. Right, Larry?"
"Can you guys just stop?!" You chimed, begging.
"I had to beg you," Cynthia started, "every step of the way."
"Okay, hold on."
Evan spoke up just quiet enough where nobody noticed him. "I'm sure the comments will stop-"
"I had to plead with you for therapy. For rehab." Cynthia continued.
She and Larry started yelling over top of each other to a point where their words were blended together.
Cynthia raised her voice. "All you cared about was picking apart everything that I did!"
"What I cared about was picking out a program, and sticking to it." Larry objected.
"No, you wanted to punish him!" You announced.
"Listen to your daughter, Larry!""
"You treated him like a criminal!" You accused.
"Are you listening?"
"You think you were any better? You let him do whatever he wanted." You shot back at your mom.
Cynthia ignored that and went back to firing at Larry. "When he threatened to kill himself the first time, do you remember what you said?"
"Oh, for christ's sake!"
"He just. Wants. Attention?!"
"I'm not gonna sit here and-"
Cynthia interrupted him. "He was getting better! Ask Evan. Tell him, Evan."
Evan spoke softly. "Oh, I shouldn't-"
"Evan was in denial!"
They began screaming over each other once again, hardly stopping for breathes.
"Read the note, Larry! Read what he said. God knows the world is reading it."
"Actually-" Evan chimed.
"I did the best I could."
"I wish everything was different." Cynthia quoted.
"That's not-" Evan was interrupted again.
"I tried to help him." Larry boomed.
Cynthia went on. "He wanted to get better. He was TRYING to be better!"
"I don't know what to tell you!"
"He was trying!"
"And he was failing!"
"WE failed him!"
"No you didn't, you didn't fail him!" Evan yelled for the first time.
"Look at what he wrote!" Cynthia challenged.
"HE DIDN'T WRITE IT!" Evan screamed. He stared at the ground, taking a sharp breathe in before he yelled again. "I wrote it!"
He three of you gaped at him for what felt like forever before Cynthia spoke up. "You didn't write Connor's suicide note, Evan." She said in a weary tone.
"It wasn't a s-ugh. It was an assignment, um, from my therapist. Write a letter to yourself; a pep talk. Dear Evan Hansen, today's gonna be a good day and here's why. I was supposed to bring it to my appointment, but Connor took it from me. And I guess that he must have had it with him, um, when they found him." He spilled, speaking quickly.
"What are you talking about?" You asked, not processing a word.
Evan broke down, beginning to cry. "We weren't friends."
"Evan.. Evan, no. No, no, no!" Cynthia cried.
"I never meant to make such a mess of things. I never.." He choked. "I never thought it'd end up going so, um, so far." Evan continued, putting his head in his hands.
"There were emails. You showed us the emails!" Cynthia reminded him, refusing to believe what was happening.
Evan ignored her. "So, I- I'm just... Here, trying to find something... Something to say."
"But you knew about the orchard. He took you the orchard." Larry chimed in.
"That's where you broke your arm." Cynthia added.
Evan took his hands off of his face and wrapped them around himself. "I broke my arm in the park by myself."
"No, no, no! that day at the orchard, you and Connor at the orchard!" Cynthia continued to object.
"There's nothing I can say. I'm-god, there are..." he hiccuped, "there are no words."
Cynthia sat down, unable to stand anymore and began sobbing, reality setting in. Her son never even had a friend. He really was alone.
After sitting quiet, you finally spoke up. "But you told me that you.. that you would talk about me, and that you would.. how could you do this?" You questioned.
"I never had this kind of thing before." You noticed Evan had begun sweating. "Nobody's ever-no, um... I've never had that perfect girl in my life who saw past my flaws, and chose to see the good side of me. I've never had a dad who stuck it out; mine left when I was-when I was 8. You all know that. My mom was never there just b-because that's who she was supposed to be, she's..." He cried into his hands again. "She's never around."
Cynthia ran out, not being able to stomach the situation unfolding before her. Shortly after, Larry followed and it was just the two of you.
"That is not a... a worthy explanation. There is absolutely none, I know that." Evan explained, his cries echoing through the air. "Nothing could p-possibly make sense of all these.... these things that I've done."
It was this moment that everything hit you. Evan, the one person in the world that you thought you could trust... The person you told everything to, and who told everything to you, or so you thought... He had lied to you about everything. The entire basis of your relationship was a lie. Everything was a lie. Connor never cared. He never had friends. He never wanted to reach out to you or fix anything. He never cared about the orchard, or you, or your family or anything. None of this was real.
It felt as if you had been standing knee-deep in the ocean, and everything was still. Everything was still, and everything was calm; but before you could so much as turn around, a tidal wave crashed down over your head and kicked your feet out from underneath you, knocking the breath right out of your lungs.
You had never felt this blindsided or betrayed in your entire life.
As you took your own hands into your hands just as Evan had done, you cried. "I don't... I don't understand." You said. Anger began to slip into your voice. "What made you think this was okay, Evan?" You broke.
"I never-"
You interrupted him. "What made you think you could just come into my life and give me false hope about everything I've ever known, and then just take it all away in a heartbeat? You made me let you in, only for me to figure out all of this was a lie! I can't believe you! Was any of this true, Evan? Do you even love me?" You demanded.
He looked you straight in the eyes, his face contorting in pain as body-racking sobs took over him.  "This wasn't- I didn't... Oh, god." He doubled over, clutching himself. "Imsorryimsorryimsorry." He sputtered, slowly letting himself fall to his knees. He began crying so hard that he could hardly catch a breath. He tried to speak, but it ended up coming out more like mumbles and groans, as if he was choking over every word. He trembled, putting his hands on the ground to keep himself from completely falling over.
You knew exactly what this was. You had been with Evan long enough to know what his panic attacks looked like when they were forming, and he was obviously headed into one. Despite how desperately shattered you were feeling, you knew you couldn't just leave him to fight this himself. You ignored the twinge in your heart and the aching you could feel in your chest, and headed over to Evan.
You would deal with your confusion and broken heart later.
You sat down on your knees directly in front of him, pulling him into your chest as tight as you could and beginning to softly rub his back with your right hand. As you had discovered, calming physical touch could normally bring Evan down when he got this worked up.
He let out a wail, sobbing "I'm sorry" into your shoulder over and over again. You felt your own eyes continue to pour, but you ignored it. Hearing him let out long, body-raking cries into your t-shirt and just physically feeling his body quaking, you squeezed your eyes shut, trying your best not to begin completely sobbing again yourself.
You stared at the floor to keep yourself grounded.
45 minutes later, you found yourself still clutching him in your arms and softly running your right hand through his hair as you felt him slowly breathe in and out. The both of you were silent; you knew if either of you spoke it would mean it was truly the end.
So as you sat, feeling so small in the eerily quiet house that seemed to engulf you, your eyes remained trained on the floor and your mind remained blank. You didn't want to think. Thinking meant that you had to come to terms with this immense feeling of desolation, and in the meantime you wanted to push that as far out of your head as you possibly could. But you knew you couldn't stay like this.
"Evan..." You took a breathe in and paused for a second, but spoke once more. "I think you should go.
"I know."
"I think you should go, and you shouldn't come back. Please."
"(Y/n).."
"Please." You repeated.
Evan gulped, but then he stood up. He didn't say anything. Maybe it was because he knew there was nothing left to say, or maybe he just couldn't think of anything.
Regardless, he stood up and he walked to your doorway. He walked through, and he didn't look back.
You sat on the floor, staring at where he had been moments before. You didn't know how you felt. Part of you felt empty, but another part of you felt all of the broken pieces of you shattering all at once. You pushed that part out. Either way, Evan was gone. And so was everything you had come to know.
It's funny how everything can change in a moment.
Isn't it?

Gillian's interview :)
submission by @melissascullysmessybun . Thank you so so much for translating this interview for us!
The truth is out there
I had no idea British rule in India lasted for over 300 years, and for that period of time lives of millions people were in the hand of very few people.
Berlin – I today’s world, there is something that’s been called The Scully effect. The Scully effect is a phenomenon initiated by worldwide famous fictional character Dana Scully, who inspired many young women to pursue careers in science, medicine and the law enforcement and as a result brought a perceptible increase in the number of women in those fields. Dana Scully is a character from worldwide popular TV series, The X files, and the person who brought Scully to life is a tiny (petite) woman, actress Gillian Anderson.
Scully forever changed the life and career of this actress, born (1968) and raised in Chicago (IL), who later moved to UK, where she still lives. Single mother of a three children (from two husbands), she writes, starers in theater, movies and TV series and she is actively engage in charitable and humanitarian work, especially within Neurofibromatosis network (from which her brother Aaron died) and the organization for sustainability education in South Africa.
But even after all those roles Anderson played in years after the show ended, it seems like she can’t escape the ghost of Scully. That fact was also visible at the premiere of her latest movie, The Viceroy’s House, directed by British director of Indian origin Gurinder Chadha, in which Anderson very convincingly embodied the character of Edwina Cynthia Annette Mountbatten, Countess Mountbatten ofBurma, socialist and advocate for labor rights. Edwina was a wife of Louis Mountbatten, king’s relative and the last Viceroy in India, who represented the Crown when India declared independence in 1947, which divided the territory into two countries, India and Pakistan, while the violence that followed the political moves killed over 200 000 people.
Exclusively for Politica, Gillian Anderson talks about the challenges of portraying the historical character, price of being popular, Brexit and the sudden discomfort it brought to her and her family…
Press: What was it like to connect to the historical character from today’s perspective?
Gillian: It was very easy, she was very likeableperson. I was surprised how much respect I’ve grown to have for her, after I’ve read her biography, the details from her early life, her activism and how much she was involved in war, and the events that led to The Partition of India. It’s always a good thing when you fall in love with the character. It helps you to be convincing and to do your job as best as you can. Forest Whitaker did the same, when he played Idi Amin (Gillian was his partner in the movie (she was not, lady didn’t do her homework)), and Forest believed that Amin’s motivation was justice, ha, ha.
P: How much did you know about historical events that led to The Partition of India before you took the role?
G: Not much, really. Most of the things were a lessions for me. I don’t think I even knew British rule in India lasted for over 300 years, and for that period of time lives of millions people were in the hand of very few people. It wasn’t a part of my education, it wasn’t something we’ve learn at school. But all of those new information, the fact that the small amount of people had power over millions of people. It had a very big impact on me.
P: What was the greatest challenge in Edwina’s character?
G: From technical point, probably her accent. She had a very posh accent and it took a lot of time for me to learn how to move and shape my lips so I could spontaneously speak the way she did. After the premiere, mother of one of our producers congratulate me and said: Great concentration! And basically that’s what it was: a lot of concentration so you don’t make a mistake.
P: You’ve managed to achieve the physically resemblance as well?
G: That was a challenge of a different kind. She had a sort of dislocated hips, so her entire body was somehow pushed forward. That forced her back to bend and her shoulders were stiff. It was very important for me figure out the way she moved, the way she walked. Edwina was a very active woman, the hostess of this huge palace, with a lot of stairs. Plus, she was taller than me, I’ve noticed that while I was watching archival footage. It was very exciting trying to overcome that, and to make the physical
appearance credible. Long after the shooting was over, I would caught myself walking like her, with my hips forward and my back shrugged. It took awhile to get things back to normal.
P: Edwina did a lot trying to find the way to prevent the conflict between the Muslim and Hindu populations?
G: She did, yes. She was restless, she was always on the field, in the conflict zones, trying to make people realize the need of peaceful cohabitation, the value of compromise. She was strongly against discrimination of any kind. She really did a lot. She was in contact with Nehru, Gandhi, the Muslim leader Muhammad Ali Jinnah, she often advised her husband…
P: Some sources say that she and Nehru had an affair, but the movie is not exploring that.
G: Yeah, I’ve read about that, but I really can’t say I’m sure it’s true. A lot of people in Britain didn’t appreciate her closeness to people from India, and, even more, they were against all the changes she made when she stepped in Viceroy’s palace. So maybe that’s where the story about their affair originated from.
P: She was very influential, the real proof of that behind every successful man stands a woman?
G: Yeah, but there is also a saying that the wives of powerful and genius men often go crazy. In real life it might be true, but not necessarily. There are examples of very influential and powerful first ladies, wives of US presidents.
P: As an American living in the UK, do you understand the fascination with the Royal Family? Or do you share it?
G: Hm, I do have a lot of respect for the challenges of neutrality, which is also part of the monarchy. And there is also a question of having strong leader as a head of the country and what happens when you don’t. So when you watch everything that’s been going on in the UK, with Brexit and everything, the existence of the crown became a basis of security and mental health.
P: Where you personally affected by Brexit?
G: The irony is: my daughter has a German passport, her father is German. She lives u UK, she goes to school there, so now the Brexit raised a questions like what does it all (the facts that she has a German passport but lived long in UK and is active student there) mean and will happen to her. It affects her, and we are all concerned. The final result of Brexit is yet to be seen, but what is certain is the this sudden insecurity at my home, in my family, which also brought a dose of worry.
P: It seems like you haven’t had much rest in past three years: you did movies, TV series, wrote a book, and you are very active in charity events.
G: Yeah, I don’t really have time just to sit and do nothing. Sometimes I think about slowing down a bit, and try to create a space for myself, so that I could be on still. But new challenges always emerge and than new choices have to be made.
P: What is your priority then: acting or activism?
G: My children are always my number one priority. Everything else shifts: sometimes it’s acting, sometimes writing and sometimes charity and activism.
P: And when do you write: during the day, or at night? Do you need a quite place for writing?
G: I definitely need a quiet room. But sometimes, there are long breaks on the set, so I use them to write in my trailer. And sometimes, I write on a airplane, because I spend a lot of time flying.
P: What was the most memorable moment from Berlinale, if there was one?
G: O yeah, it was! Freezing on the red carpet in that thin sleeveless dress!
*The questions on the side, in that almost purple box
Dana Scully is everywhere she looks
P: No matter what you did and still doing, people till identify you as Dana Scully. Is that bothering you?
G: It is how it is, no matter if that bothers me or not. I’m used to it.
P: So it isn’t annoying?
G: Oh please, don’t ask! It was so annoying, especially in that first period after the end of The X files. It took a long time and a lot of work to separate myself from her. It was very frustrating, because it was reflecting on the work, or the lack of it, because there wasn’t a lot of people who would want Dana Scully in their movies. Fortunately, I have manage to prove that I do have the acting talent. At one point I’ve stopped being angry at her existence and I’ve pushed her far enough so that now I can still play her role, without any stress and pain.
P: Many actors would be happy to have their television roles become phenomena and have such a powerful effect?
G: It’s true, but it may be true for Judy Dench or and any other actor in the UK, where, no matter how popular television role is, you will not have the problem working in the theater or on film, after the television series is done. In States is different, TV roles have been considered second-rate at the time. Now, the things have changed and all the most important television series are hiring the first-rate actors. And even here, on Berlin film festival, you can see that change: now there is a whole program dedicated to the premieres of the television series.
P: Are the people surprised when they see you on the street?
G: I’m the one who is constantly surprised, hhahah. There are days no one recognizes me: I walk the streets, go to the store, buy what I need. And there are days when every other person comes up to me. I don’t know what it is, is it the make up, the clothes, my hair, I have no idea. It’s like I am a Gillian Anderson on some days, and Dana Scully or any other character on other days.
THE END
Sorry it took so long, it was a loooooong day at the office. I’m sorry for all the mistakes, and if our grammar sucks, we did our best, and at least it’s better then the google translate shit. :)

Ada’s Top 10 Films of 2018
In tandem with this post, I’ve also recreated this list in Letterboxd.com, you can find it at: https://letterboxd.com/palindr0me/list/adas-top-10-films-of-2018/
Between Christmas shopping, baking a couple hundred cookies, and rewatching Bad Santa every December, I try to take a peek at critics’ lists of the top films of the year (even if I myself manage to procrastinate well into February to compile my own list each year). On December 31st a good friend and fellow writer published his list, the opening sentence of his blog proclaimed 2018 was the best year for film this century and that’s when I began to panic.
Though I was far from finalizing my list, I had thought 2018 to be one of the worst years for film in recent history! I immediately starting chasing all the award season favourites plus other talked about films at TIFF 2018, and spent as much of January in front of a screen as possible. I hoped against hope that I somehow missed all the good films of 2018.
A month later I will say this: 2018, it wasn’t as bad as I thought! However, after much brainstorming and revisions to the order of my list, I will say that not a single film stood out for me as the year's best, which is very rare. So here are 10 films (and then some) in not much of a particular order that I think should be talked about for 2018.
Qualifying films for Ada’s Top 10 Films:
• any film that screened at a festival that I attended in 2018  • any film with a Canadian theatrical release dated in 2018   • is listed on www.imdb.com as released in 2018
1. Widows 2. Hotel Mumbai 3. Destroyer 4. Capernum 5. The Hate U Give 6. Love, Simon 7. Isle of Dogs 8. Pick of the Litter 9. Shadow 10. Transit
Honourable Mentions:
 • Shoplifters   • Free Solo   • BlacKkKlansman   • A Star is Born   • Vox Lux   • Everybody Knows   • The Other Story
1. Widows
I firmly believe Widows film came in under the radar considering all that it embodied. In a year of diversity in film, Widows is made by a man of Caribbean descent (Steve McQueen), written by a woman (Gillian Flynn), starting FOUR women - 3 of which are of a visible minority (Viola Davis, Michelle Rodriguez, Cynthia Enviro, and Elizabeth Debicki), and Daniel Kaluuya portrays one cold-blooded villain. And on top of that, Widows is good entertainment! I may have a soft spot for heists and ass-kicking women, but I’d like to think I know a good thriller when I see one. I feel that Widows didn’t get the love it deserved and so I'm mentioning it first.
2. Hotel Mumbai
I saw Hotel Mumbai last year and it is dated 2018 across the web, but it is coming to theatres soon and I assure you it’s good entertainment for your buck. I saw it in the midst of back to back films and long work days during TIFF 2018, worried that I’d accidentally nod off. Instead, I couldn’t close my eyes if I tried. Again this ensemble cast film is more about entertainment value that cinematic artistry, and I never compared the story on screen to historical facts, but what I took in was enough to stay with me and rank it amongst one of the best times I had in a movie theatre in 2018.
3. Destroyer
Destroyer is fresh in my mind having only seen it a few weeks ago. Due to the nature of my volunteer work with TIFF, it was one of the films this year that I kept walking into mid-movie (much to my dismay). I purposely avoided the ending of the film and then had no opportunity to see it again until recently, giving me lots of time to forget anything I might have accidentally absorbed. Fully aware that it was going to be a dark, depressing watch, I quickly found myself engrossed in the story reminiscent of the HK police dramas that I grew up with about divided loyalties and double agents. Director Karen Kusama pushes Kidman's character well past the point of likability but the story keeps you invested in the events as they unfold. That's when you know you've got a good story.
4. Capernaum
Also fresh in my mind is Capernaum, a Foreign Film nominee in this year's awards season. This film that looks at extreme child poverty from Lebanon is at once heartbreaking and endearing. The film follows young Zain but is supported by a host of complex characters, ch with a detailed back story of struggle and survival. Together they give the film a fullness and weaves a world where although individuals' actions fall into a decidedly grey area, no explanation is required to justify them. It is a world unknown to the majority of people who will see this film, but it is utterly engrossing.
5. The Hate U Give
This was a last film on my list of 2018 movies to watch before compiling this list and I'm really thankful I didn't get lazy and skip it. While there's no single aspect to make it truly stand out in awards season, it's a shame that The Hate U Give isn't getting quite as much love as Green Book nor BlacKkKlansman because it delivers a similar powerful message, from a different angle that actually made it the differentiator for me. The story comes from the eyes of young black teenager girl named Starr, wonderfully portrayed by Amandla Stenberg, and addresses an aspect of being a visible minority that speaks volumes to me: assimilation. Compared to other common themes (oppression, profiling, etc)
6. Love, Simon
When I think of light hearted, entertaining but impactful teen-targeted, coming of age tales, I like to compartmentalize them by the decade. Now maybe I'm getting too old, or maybe it's become so ok to be and do whatever you want that no individual story can resonate anymore, that I don't have too many examples from the 10's, but Love, Simon is definitely one of them. It's not heavy nor gritty, rather glossed over in fact (the main character even admits it), but the message shines through and it's a really fun film that I think will remain a crowd pleaser for years to come. There is a place in our hearts for movies like this one, it's easy to go over the top or fall flat in this territory but I think Love, Simon really hit the nail on the head.
7. Isle of Dogs
Wes Anderson + endearing tale about dogs, I mean, come on! None of my defenses would be strong enough to dislike this film! I wish I'd had a chance to rewatch it so that I offer you more than just a rehashing of all the things I love about Wes Anderson's style and trademarks.
8. Pick of the Litter
Perhaps 2018 was truly the year of the dog, not just in the Chinese Zodiac but in film as well. Pick of the Litter was my most memorable documentary of the year, I did not make it through the intro without tearing up (it was really embarrassing and thank god the friend I went to see it with was sniffling harder than me) It was truly a journey, and insightful too, it goes way beyond humour and cuteness, and believe me there was a lot of cuteness. The thing that hit home most about Pick of the Litter for me besides the idea of guide dog named Phil (and we still always wonder how Phil and his human are doing!) as how invested I became in the litter's story through the course of the film.
9. Shadow
Ok, here's my Chinese film of the year. Joke aside, Zhang Yimou's Shadow is not on this list merely because I need an Asian film to fill a quota. With the possible exception of Isle of Dogs, the films on my list this year were selected largely based on story over style... Except this one. This is all style, it's a visual stunner that really puts the director back at the top of his game. He devotes the film to a steely palette that's at once cold but exciting. Come to the think of it, the story wasn't bad either.
10. Transit
If you haven’t seen Transit, I have some advice for you. This is not a spoiler so please take it into consideration. Transit is adapted from the 1942 novel by Anna Seghers with a few modernizations that calls for a leap of faith. As an audience member, be prepared to suspend believe and it will make all the difference in your enjoyment of the film. I wish someone had told me this beforehand so that I didn’t spend half the movie trying to make sense of details that had little bearing on the plot. I spent days after the fact trying to decide whether I loved the film or it didn’t make any sense. Thankfully the conclusion I came to was that Transit is a lucid tale of love, loss, longing, and humanity. Characters and story mirror each other in early meanderings that creates an almost surreal existence contrasting against the harsh realities of events taking place around them. There is profound sadness, but there is also beauty.
Honourable Mentions:
You'll note from above my list of honourable mentions is getting to be almost as long as the top 10 itself (in fact it was probably just as long until I trimmed a few films off... You don't need me to tell you about Avengers: Infinity War and Black Panther)
I saw Destroyer, Capernaum, and The Hate U Give quite recently, but until I had, Shoplifters and Free Solo had firmly been in my top 10.
I'm typically not a fan of Japanese cinema, but there are always exceptions and Shoplifters was definitely one that defied the odds. It broke from the often tiresome mold (to me) of demure characters, restraint, and complicity that's often portrayed in that country's cinema. The message of making your own happiness and family being those that loved you most regardless of genetic ties was heartwarming and resonating.
Free Solo ranked amongst the fictional narratives on my list for thrilling and edge of your seat viewing. It takes a lot to keep me wide-eyed griping the arm of my chair in the theatre in anticipation and fear for an hour and a half. I love heights and I was scared witless.
BlacKkKlansman and A Star is Born are seemingly award show favourites, though not winning as many awards as they might have hoped, both have strong scripts, powerhouse talent, skillful direction for the former, and one of my favourite songs of the year from the latter. They truly are amongst some of the best films made in 2018.
Vox Lux is one of those films that warrants a discussion after viewing, at least for me. Though it feels like the film scored points neither with critics nor audiences, there’s a part of me that’s drawn to intricate explorations of the selfish and narcissistic. Natalie Portman was great in the role in my opinion. To make an unlikable character worth watching is not an easy feat, especially when the possibility of redemption isn’t really on the table. Like Destroyer, it takes one hell of an acting performance and skilled direction to pull this off. I guess this is where some thought Destroyer nailed it, and pretty much no one thought Vox Lux did.
Everybody Knows (Spain, thought director Asghar Farhadi is Iranian) and The Other Story (Israel) were also amongst the most enjoyable foreign films I watched in 2018. I'm not sure if The Other Story got Canadian distribution but Everybody Knows is playing at TIFF Bell Lightbox right now for those who want to see it. Both are dramas centred around families.
We're well into 2019 films now and I'm really hoping for some standouts this year, at least in my eyes. I mean, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood does have a July release date after all! As well, we're about to wrap another decade in film so even more lists charting the best of the last 10 years. But first, we got some more movies to watch!

Who let me watch 5.06?
I should be doing an assignment that’s due tomorrow but ya know due tomorrow means do tomorrow. Lol I know I should be ashamed to be a procrastinator but university has ruined me anyway. I’m tired from literally going to one lecture haha, but in any event I’ve been rewatching mad men for the who knows what time but I thought I’d take a break from all that and watch an episode of CtM & @flyingnonny inspired me to do a reaction post so why not? I decided on 5.06 since last Sunday’s episode reminded us of that camping trip 😂😂  here goes nothing..
*skips intro bc I’m impatient*
Cute community moment ☺️
TRIXIE😍 slaying my life
Shelagh looks so good too 😍 and Angela melting my heart!
Why is shelagh forever wearing cardigans? I like cardigans every now and then but all the time, really?
Everyone is sitting outside, Trixie is in a sleeveless dress, as is Barbara, so it has to be warm?? take it off Shelagh
She’s still my bby though even if I don’t always agree with her fashion choices
what gross vejo pinching Trixie’s ass? That’s not ok
And Babs too lmao, creepy old man, die
Shelagh saying “hello dear” aw
But this is like the only interaction between Shelagh and Trixie & that does not suffice !!
ALL I WANT IS FOR THEM TO HAVE AN ACTUAL FRIENDSHIP IDC HOW MANY TIMES IVE SAID IT I REALLY Want it😭😭💕💕 my two fav bbys
I HAVE EVEN GIVEN REASONS WHY & I CAN GIVE THEM AGAIN ***        1) Why not?? Shelagh has like no real friends besides her husband and sort of Sister Julienne?
 2) just please, because I’m asking nicely                                                     3) When Shelagh was Sister Bernadette she was often friendly/ in the gossip and conversation with the nurses & remember that one time Trixie grabbed her to come listen to Jenny’s phone conversation?
4) Trixie was the only one besides Sister Julienne to visit her in the sanatorium. That has to count for something!                                             5) They’ve both been on the show since day 1 & have known each other the longest (besides the nuns) why wouldn’t they be friends or least actually speak to each other?
Aye this is the lady who’s fake pregnant
Shelagh wearing earrings though >> here for it
Sorry there will be a lot of gushing over Shelagh and Trixie
And also I WANT TRIXIE’S HOOP EARRINGS SO BAD, where can I find them??
And how do I get her clothes and figure and her everything lol?
PHYLLIS ! My champion
“Would it have killed you to sit down for five minutes and eat the whole thing!” I LOVE HER, SHE IS A GEM, A HERO, A BADASS & IM NOT READY FOR SUNDAY. IM GOING TO BAWL WITH AND FOR HER
she deserves the best
I think this is the only time I’ve ever heard Trixie address Shelagh by her first name?? a prob.
They need to interact more 😭💔💕😍 I will stop saying it when I’m dead even then I’ll prob say it
Actually when I think of it no one ever calls Shelagh by her first name besides obviously Patrick? And Sister Julienne
#MoreShelaghAndTheOtherNursesInteracting2k17aka1962
And I need at least two seconds of them dotting on pregnant Shelagh
Helen looks so good like goals
“I threatened to put one man over my knee but that only encouraged him” HA IM DEAD NO KINK SHAME
I think there’s been a similar joke before but fuck it it’s still funny to me
But seriously everyone loves Trixie lol how could you not though?
Hey Pats, it’s been a while
Lol omg Tim in that uniform.. Not the best costume 😂😂
Never seen Whistle Down the Wind
But you see, Tom and Babs making out as usual, I’m not knocking it lol but this is why Sister J told her to chill when they went to South Africa😂
also lowkey jealous bc Jack Ashton is handsome af and that could’ve been me but it’s all good. He and Helen are adorable together and I’m here for it x10000
Omg I forgot this lady got assaulted
Oh shit I just remembered this is the episode where sister MC is attacked FUCK WHY DID I WATCH THIS
she can’t report it bc she’d get arrested for soliciting wtf
But remember Shelagh wore the headbands in like series 3 (so glad she stopped I was not here for it)? They must’ve gave them to Babs lol
I forgot Trixie didn’t tell the nurses about AA yet
But she looks gorgeous as ever, even with her mascara running
Lowkey nauseas looking at all that fish ugh. Funny becuase they put a grocery store that has a fish market on the block up from where I live in NYC and I hate it
I forgot about Peter lol and he was in an episode this series whoops
LIKE WHERE’S YOUR WIFE LOL, *I know, too busy for this, I don’t think she’d fit in the series anymore anyway*
Sister Mary Cynthia 😰❣️
Lol she doesn’t sing loud enough ??
Sister Julienne is so cute when she smiles but don’t forget she’s a badass
REMEMBER THE AGGRESSIVE JACKET FLAP BC OF THE IRRITATING SISTER URSULA
How did this girl hide her pregnancy though?
And did her brothers just not realize she was pregnant and the mother wasn’t?
Oh jeez my cousin was a colic-y baby and my parents kept him like 3 days a week when I was in high school & it was a nightmare. I didn’t sleep for so long
Dont get me wrong I love babies. But when they scream when I’m trying to sleep, nope. Return to sender.
Shelagh is so excited about camping it’s the purest and most adorable thing 😭😭And I like her shirt
Shelagh made Tim copy the napkin folding from a magazine, SHE IS A GEM
“We never have serviettes on a weeknight” wtf did they just not use napkins every day? I’m confused Lmaoo. What am I missing here 😂omg that reminds me of one of the times my family and I went on a cruise (2006, hella long time ago already wow?? 11 yrs yikes) and my brother & cousin were late to dinner and lied to my mom & aunt saying they were at a “napkin folding class” & my family deadass believed it up until 2 years ago😂
Shelagh’s accent is so cute. I’ve said that many times but it’s so sweet. But again why do we just have to accept she’s Scottish with no context as to how/why she came to England? Like I’m sure there were convents in Scotland. I dont even care that much I just will forever be curious as to why it seems she had no life before she got married lol? Like they don’t ever bring up the fact she was a nun, but ok maybe she feels awkward talking about it but what about before?
They’re so excited it’s so precious, protect this family 😂😭💕💕
Sister MJ is fasting lol I should try it😂
Omg another dumb story, I didn’t realize today is Ash Wednesday and was hella confused seeing some people with ash on their forehead 😂😂 I should give up something for lent but idk what, we shall see. My mom gave up carbs last year & I died bc I lived at home and ate what she cooked and almost all my fav foods are carbs😂
Shelagh referred to Patsy as Patsy, I’ve only ever heard her say Nurse Mount??
lol Tim you’re what 14? you know damn well those arent* bullet holes
at least he has some of his innocence still. I didn’t @ 14
Sometimes I forget I’m gonna be 19 this year wtf. I’ve accidentally told people I’m 16 before and had to correct myself 😂😂
Patrick is excited about this holiday, boy you don’t know what’s coming 😂
HE’S GONNA ATTACK THE LADY WITH A BABY I FORGOT THAT TOO WTF
I wanna fight him
Diane’s anemic ? Or her mum is just assuming
SHELAGH IN HER CAMPING OUTFIT!! The hair scarf and trousers !! I’m so here for it 😍😭
I want to see her in another pair!! yes lets get it 1962. Probably not likely this series but hopefully next series!! Ah can’t wait
Shit this series is almost over 💔💔 but omg 1963 gonna be lit as well?!
Like the space race started/orbiting the earth, Kennedy’s assassination .. wait never mind lol I’m thinking of American History moments. but still a lot of it was crazy world news so maybe it’s mentioned?? first bond film came out in'63, petition for Tim to go take Susan whatever from around the corner to see it since we know he liked the novels
Lots of famous films came out in ‘63 so there’s gotta be some reference.
Fun fact: I love pop culture references in period drama bc I’m lame jk I’m majoring in education (to teach history)
Old news but still relevant: Phyllis’s turn on: Rolodex systems 📇

King Falls AM - Episode 7: Major Tom to Ground Control
View on Google Docs
Summary: August 1, 2015 - The boys at King Falls AM receive a phone call from a familiar voice that sends the show, as well as the residents of King Falls, into an uproar.
[podcast intro music]
Sammy And thanks so much to Vernon from Vernon’s Vermin Vestibule for that thorough and intense interview.
Ben And those slides he brought in! I- I d- I didn’t need to see that.
Sammy You and me both, Ben. So, changing gears here, we’re just gonna take a quick pause for the cause. We’ll be right back to take your calls, King Falls. [quietly] (So much rhyming) — 424-279-3858.
[classical music]
Beauregard Ladies and gentlemen, I am Howard Ford Beauregard III, and I implore you, dare I say demand that you turn off this radio station post-haste. King Falls AM used to be a place you could trust your ears to. Wholesome, family-oriented, fair and balanced. Now it’s ran by dirty, lying filth mongerers[sic] spreading rumor and dissent throughout our peaceful community. Samuel Stevens and Benjamin Arnold should be proclaimed Public Enemy Number One. In all my years, all my family’s years in our idyllic town, I can’t recall anyone being allowed to disparage our good name so open and freely and till the fertile lands of distrust… Friends, please heed my advice and turn off this impurity. Let me save you from the mire and muck King Falls AM fills you with. Do yourself a favor. Go outside, breathe the fresh mountain air, go read a book! Perhaps an e-book! more so, the e-book “King of King Falls” by yours truly. Be well, compatriots!
End this transmission Celestia!
[KFAM theme]
Sammy You gotta be sh[bleep]ng me.
Ben I hate that guy but ads pay the bills, Sammy.
Sammy We’re not gonna have bills without a show, Ben!
Ben [light and disingenuous] You don’t think this has anything to do with him coming in the studio a few weeks back, do you?
Sammy [sarcastic and annoyed] Oh, of course not, whatever could have put that bee in his bonnet.
Ben I’m just saying maybe he hated us before we kicked him out of the studio and insinuated he was the Lord Vampire.
Sammy *sigh* Moving forward—
Ben Board is lit up, Sammy! Let’s take some calls. You’re live on King Falls AM
Caller [Definitely Pete Myers doing a very bad snooty voice] Samuel Stevens, Benjamin Arnold.
Sammy [muttered]Oh this is gonna be good— uh, you’re live.
Caller You two heathens can kiss my ass and this listener goodbye. Treating Mr. Beauregard like that! I will never listen to this filth again! [pronounced “a-gAYn”]
Ben [petulant] Go watch Channel 13 then! We don’t want you to listen!
Sammy [voice-of-reason]Ben, don’t take it personally. Obviously Beauregard is a… trusted personality in this town, and he’s- gonna have some sway with people, [harsher] but it’s funny we’ve not had one complaint in the two weeks since that crackpot was on the show.
Ben Power of media man, bringing out all these sheeple.
Sammy Alright, line eight, welcome to King Falls –
Line 8 Beauregard’s right, this is filth!
Sammy Okay, sir, what exactly is the issue with the show?
Line 8 You’re muckrakers! I don’t recall King Falls being so damn torn apart before you came into town, Sammy!
Sammy I’m just doing my job! I was hired to fill this time slot with news and information that—
Ben [cutting him off] Who is this?
Line 8 None a’ ya damn business, Ben!
Ben Pete Meyers? Come on, man!
Pete N- noo. Is not!
Ben Yeah, it is. W– Would you like to explain to everyone why Beauregard’s gardener is calling in?
Pete Don’t go working your voodoo on me, alright? I’m just statin’ my opinion. I’m never listening to 660 again. [quickly] King of King Falls, buy the ebook! [click]
[dial tone]
Sammy Folks, we’re open minded here on 660. We listen to you and talk about the things that you care about. I’m sorry if a vocal minority that we’ve offended but—
Ben Line four, you’re live with Sammy and Ben.
Tim [feedback] [audio broken and distorted] Is thIS King FaLls AM?
Sammy You’re live, sir.
[feedback]
Ben Whoa! Uh, the feedback! Uh tur- t-turn off your radio, sir.
[deep, unnatural thrumming behind feedback]
Sammy Ah, you know, I hate to do this, but that feedback is just too much. Give us a call back and—
Tim [worried, there’s a slight echo to his voice] DOn’- don’t hANg up. PleASE doN’t hang Up!
Sammy Who is this?
Tim I-it’s Tim- It’s Ti-TiM JE-Nsen?
Ben Tim! Where are you?!
Tim [feedback] He-EL-LO?
Sammy Tim, can you hear us? You’re on with Sammy and Ben. Are you okay?!
Tim I’m aLI-IVe. PLEase teLL mY wI-IFe thAT I –
Ben You’re breaking up, Tim. Uh where- where are you? We’ll come to get you right now—
Tim I’m okA-aY, plEaSe don’t StoP-P—
Sammy [hurried] Ben can you call—
Ben [on it] Troy’s on hold.
Tim TheY’Re- thEy’RE doIN— so M-Any oPEr-a-ATioNs O-n m-E. Please Help m-eE.
[sound starts, a high pitched buzz, growing in volume, like a racecar accelerating, this repeats for the rest of the call, louder each time]
Sammy Tell us where you are, Tim. We’ll send help immediately.
[buzz is louder than voices]
Ben Tim!
Tim I love my wife, Mary. I miss my kids… King Falls, please hELp mEEE!
[noise stops leaving just static]
Sammy [almost shouting] Tim! Tim, can you hear us?
[dial tone]
Ben [softly] He’s gone… Deputy Troy, you’re live.
Deputy Troy I heard him, fellas. Without a shadow of a doubt, that was Tim.
Sammy I- you know I d- I don’t know what to make of it, Troy, is there anything you can do?
Deputy Troy Ben texted me all the info he had on the call but— It ain’t making any sense. Has he called since, y’know, the uh, the disappearance?
Sammy Not to us I- you know, I just couldn’t make out a lot of what he was saying.
Ben Lot of interference from something. Or… someone.
Sammy He said Mary, right?
Ben You think we should—?
Sammy Oh God, no. God. We wouldn’t wanna put that poor lady on the spot with something like this. I mean she’s just been through so much already— [slightly desperate] I mean, that could have been anyone, right?
Ben That was Tim, Sammy.
Deputy Troy I wish there were something more we could do, boys, but- I don’t even know where to start. I was just listening to the show in Rose’s Diner and… I couldn’t believe it. [police radio can be heard faintly in the bg] Dollars to donuts, dispatch is gonna be lightin’ up tonight, boys. I’m gonna go finish my French cruller and make the rounds. I’ll catch you later, boys.
[click, dial tone]
Sammy [somberly] Line one, you’re on King Falls AM.
Cynthia Sammy? Ben?
Ben You got us, ma'am.
Cynthia Was that just Tim Jensen on the air?
Ben We… we believe it was. We- we don’t wanna cause an uproar here—
Sammy Per usual.
Ben But we have every reason to believe so. Uh d- do you have any information about Tim?
Cynthia I Do Not. I was calling to voice my concerns about him coming back from God-knows-where.
Ben Is this- Cynthia Higgenbaum?
Cynthia It’s Mrs. Higgenbaum to you, Ben, and thanks for broadcasting my info all over the tri-staate.
Sammy Cynthia, you say you have some concerns about Tim being found? Why?
Cynthia “Concerns” would be putting it mildly.
Sammy Okay, he’s a missing man, Cynthia. He’s been officially gone without a trace for over three months!
Cynthia Oh, don’t give me that “official line” of Horse Hockey! We all know Good and Well he got picked up by the lights off 72.
Sammy *exasperated chuckle* With all due respect—
Ben [cutting him off] He was abducted, Sammy. You know it, I know it, Cynthia knows it. The X-Files, this ain’t. They got him.
Sammy Okay, let’s just hold it together folks—
Ben But for goodness’ sake, Cynthia, why in the world would you have an issue if we finally found him?
Sammy I- you know, I’m just happy to hear that he’s alive. We all should be.
Cynthia Yeah yeah, he’s alive, hooray and such. But I’m gonna level with you boys.
Sammy [acerbic] Uh-huh.
Cynthia I Don’t Want Tim coming back into this community after gallivanting around the galaxy for three damn months with aliens or what-have-you. Who knows what kind of diseases he’s bringing back!?
Sammy Oh stop it!
Cynthia Martian Measles, Pluto Pox- who can say? I Don’t want my kids around that. Does Obamacare even cover Jupiter Jaundice? *scoffs* Doubtful!
Ben Cynthia, I think bringing Tim home safe and sound is of the utmost importance.
Cynthia Are you gonna pay my doctor bills? I didn’t think so.
Sammy Cynthia, we are talking about a man.
Cynthia We are talking about some weird sh[bleep]t Tim is bringing back, by golly! I know Tim. I worked with Tim for a few years, and he’s a nice enough guy! But he’s not nice enough to let his Ground Control to Major Tom[1] ass quarantine my babies at Area 51. Priorities!
Ben Sammy, Mary Jensen is on line five.
Sammy I’m sorry, Cynthia, we have to take this.
Cynthia Oh, good. I’m gonna go check my shelter and inventory my air filters. I suggest doing the same.
[click, dial tone]
Ben Mary Jensen.
Sammy Hi Mary, this is Sammy and Ben at King Falls AM?
Mary [morosely] Hi Sammy. Hi Ben.
Ben Mary have you… have you been listening to the broadcast tonight?
Mary I was. That’s why I called. Since Tim’s been gone I- *sigh* I don’t know which way is up. My sleep has been turned around, the kids…
Ben I’m sorry, Mary.
Mary [shakily, clearly trying not to cry] I wanna thank you two— Sammy and Ben- for all you’ve done during this ordeal.
Sammy We don’t have to get into that.
Mary No I-I think we do. I know that there are people that think that you two shouldn’t be on the air, but since Tim has been gone? You guys at the station have checked on me and the kids at least once a week. You’ve made donations. Ben even took the kids to the library last week so I could have time to myself!
Sammy [softly sarcastic] You’re a sweetheart, Ben, and to the library no less!
Ben [almost whispered] Don’t.
Mary [probably crying] I know you want Tim back in my arms almost as much as I do.
Sammy Mary, I wish we had more to tell you but you heard exactly what we did.
Mary I just thank- God— whomever is up there- that he’s still alive. He sounded okay right? [fearfully] Didn’t he sound okay?
Sammy He didn’t sound hurt.
Ben We appreciate the kind words, but- that can’t be what you called for.
Mary It wasn’t the only reason but um… make no mistake about this: the Jensens stand with you two. No matter what.
Sammy Thank you, Mary. I mean it’s obvious that Tim has reached out to us for a reason. You’ve told us in the past that he absolutely loved listening to Chet’s Jazz Corner and loved King Falls AM in general. Let’s hope he’s listening to you now, Mary. What would you like Tim to know?
Mary *sniffs* That, um- [tearfully] we’re okay, Tim. Please don’t worry about us. *sniff* And I- I know he will anyway but, we are okay. We are safe. We’re home, but *sniff* home isn’t home without you. I love you, Tim. *sniff* I know without a doubt that one day you’ll be back with us… I can’t wait for that day, but I will wait… [clearly struggling] Please be okay… Please be safe. *sniff*
Sammy Our thoughts are with you, Mary. And Tim.
Mary [choked up] My- my little one is up. Can she say something, Sammy?
Sammy Please, of course, by all means.
Mary [aside] Come on, sweetie, Daddy’s listening.
Bella Daddy?
Mary He called Mr. Ben and Mr. Sammy tonight.
Bella Daddy!
Sammy He’s listening right now. Tell him whatever you’d like.
Bella I love you. Please come home, I don’t want Mommy to cry anymore.
Mary Thank you Sammy… Ben… King Falls.
Sammy If you need anything, you just let us know.
Mary Yeah, of course. *small sob* Sorry, bye.
[click, dial tone]
Sammy Tim— if you’re listening— godspeed.
Ben Sorry to interrupt, Sammy. Line twelve.
Sammy Good evening, you’re live on King Falls AM.
Riley Please hold the line for Mayor Grisham.
Sammy [angrily] Hey, I wanna talk to you! I have got a bone to pick with you! Hello?
Riley Mayor, you’re on with Sammy and Ben.
Grisham Boys, boys, come on. Are we live?
Sammy Mayor Grisham, you have five seconds before this call self destructs.
Grisham It’s my understanding that Tim Jensen just reached out to you guys.
Ben [quickly] Five four three two—
Grisham I come in peace, guys! I’m sure you two will get everything you can regarding the call to Sheriff Gunderson’s office. I just wanted to say “thank you,” for being there for Tim— still in his time of need.
Sammy You have my curiosity, Mayor.
Ben Sammy, my horsesh[bleep]t radar is off the charts right now! It’s, it’s hitting Seabiscuit[2] levels.
Sammy Did you just bleep yourself?
Ben Yeah, I mean, come on, man. You want fines on top of trouble, too?
Grisham I’ll be as friendly as a pen pal, gents. I just wanted to speak to King Falls. That is, if you two will allow me.
Ben Horsesh[bleep]t radar is still solidly at “circus pony.” I- I don’t know if this is a good idea.
Sammy You know, you’re ridiculous. And generally I would agree, Ben, but this is for Tim. The floor is reluctantly all yours, Mayor.
Grisham *clears throat* Thank you… Ladies and gentlemen of King Falls and everyone listening to this broadcast, I just want to let you know we are doing all we can to bring Tim back home, safe and sound. We are working day and night to make sure his lovely daughter and his wife get to hug their father and husband again. I want to reiterate that if you have any information about Tim, his disappearance, or subsequently his call tonight for help, please do not take matters into your own hands. Please call the hotline set up at–

Hello lovelies!
Do I have some things to share! For those of you who may not be familiar, RuPaul is an Iconic drag queen who started making the art of drag a more mainstream and widely accepted community through means of being the first drag queen to land a cosmetic campaign (with MAC nonetheless), raising money for aids research, and more popularly known- hosting shows like RuPaul’s Drag Race and Drag U; shows that bring “undiscovered” queens with unmatched talent into the spotlight. Ru’s empire has been growing consistently since the start of his career, so a convention seemed like the obvious next step and DragCon was born!
Overview
DragCon has something for every kind of drag fan, which made for a diverse crowd. Meet and Greet’s were going on all day for those of us who had specific queens we wanted to meet (stay tuned for my post about meeting Cynthia Lee Fontaine tomorrow!). There were also dozens of vendors with all kinds of padding, jewelry, and costumes for queens that were in attendance, and there were a few cosmetic companies and other miscellaneous vendors as well! OCC, Jefree Star, Sugarpill, Ardell, Alcone, and Ricky’s NYC were all there, so I got to pick up some staple products and play with new ones! Each queen also had their own booth to sell their merchandise in, and there were some companies selling patches, pins, artwork, clothing, and pretty much anything else you can think of!
I will say, it was so crowded. This was great for all the business owners and vendors, but as a guest, it was so hard to actually do anything at the show. Lines to get into booths were crazy, which is expected. The length of the lines didn’t bother me as much as the lack of organization did. The last event I was at that was as crowded as DragCon had very distinct lines and labels. A lot of our time was spent asking what line we were in, and maneuvering around a line we accidentally got stuck in. It was just so difficult to get into booths; even the ones that weren’t that crowded. I really just felt like I was getting herded like a cow. Because the queens who had booths were doing meet and greets in their own booths, instead of a designated area, the situation only got worse as more queens came out for photos. If there was a designated area for queens to hold their meetings and take photos, I feel like the show floor would have been a lot less congested and things would have moved more smoothly. This being said, please don’t take this as me not liking the event. I had so much fun.
Tumblr media
First of all, you could tell that everyone in the ballroom was so genuinely accepting of everyone who attended, and everyone there had some degree of love and appreciation for the art of drag. Seeing this kind of love and coexistence in such time of political unrest and social discrepancies made me feel like there are still good people in the world. You could literally walk into this event and find every kind of gender, race, identity, and orientation. I would bet money on the fact that not a single person felt out of place  or underrepresented there. It always amazes me how the communities that are so often subjected to hate and discrimination, are the same ones to embrace whoever might stumble upon them.
Tumblr media
As far as shopping goes, the booths I did some damage in on Saturday were Sugarpill, OCC, Ricky’s NYC, Strange Ways, Madame Whiskers, the DragCon booth, and Farrah Moan’s booth. Keep reading to find out what new thing I got to play with!
Day One- Shopping!
Sugarpill
The line for Sugarpill was bearable and pretty easy to maneuver; definitely not the worst line of the day! There was a show discount of about $2 per item. So, eyeshadow pans were $8 instead of $10, pressed shadows were $10 instead of $12 and so on and so forth. I picked up three eyeshadow pans and one liquid lipstick. I desperately wanted the shade Dollipop- a bright pink that happens to be Farrah Moan’s signature pink eyeshadow. But, unsurprisingly the shade quickly sold out. I did end up with Kim Chi (left), Velocity (right), and Poison Plum (center), as well as the Strange Love liquid lipstick. I definitely plan on using these shadows for day 2 so stay tuned to see what I come up with!
OCC (Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics)
OCC was having an awesome show deal and there was no line at all! The staff was super friendly and welcoming, and let you take as long as you needed to play around with samples and decide what you wanted to purchase (I was definitely having some trouble deciding what color glitters I wanted). I ended up with two glitters, a liquid lip, and a lip liner! Spoiler, I use this blue glitter for day 2 as well.
Ricky’s NYC
Ok, I told myself I WAS NOT going to spend money at Ricky’s since I go there more often than I’d like to admit. BUT, in my defense, everything in the booth was 25% off. It would be a sin not to take advantage of 25% off in a store that carries Lilly Lashes and House of Lashes. Sooo that being said, I am a proud new owner of a pair of Lilly Lashes in the style Mykonos, and a pair of House of Lashes in the style Iconic! I was going to pick up a few Violet Voss pairs as well, but I still have three pairs that are still in pretty good shape. So technically I do have self control when it comes to eyelashes. If I didn’t have any self control I would have bought the whole lash display.
Strange Ways
This was actually the first booth I stopped at, and I’m so glad I did! They had some awesome iron-on patches, some pins (including two Shea Couleè exclusives), buttons, and stickers! I wasn’t originally going to get any patches, but then I looked down at the denim jacket I had with me and instantly changed my mind. I definitely wanted something pink to throw on the jacket, and the fact that the “duh” patch was both pink and sassy, was enough of a selling point for me. I also went with the NYC patch because that’s where the event was, and it’s my home-city! The two buttons say, “I don’t care” and “I’m perfect”. Because who doesn’t love some extra sass and a confidence boost with their buttons? Then, because I spent $20, I got the brands pin and sticker for free! Check out all of their stuff riiiiiiiiiiiiight HERE!

Madame Whiskers
I am such a sucker for earrings, and especially ones that are not your typical gold or silver hoops. Madame Whiskers had so many original pieces of jewelry, varying from huge dangly ones covered in glitter, to unconventional studs. Shocker, I went with something pink again; and something that describes my mood about 85% of the time. I was so stuck between these hearts and rose gold glitter coffins, so I will definitely be ordering from them soon. You can find their Etsy shop HERE. The companies Socials are on the business card below!

DragCon Booth
I was so happy to find out that event merchandise wasn’t super overpriced. Yes, $25 for a t-shirt was a little up there, but $2 buttons and $10 keychains, among other reasonable priced items made up the majority of the booth. There was a $200 bomber jacket and oh my goodness I was so ready to sell a kidney in order to own it. And I will say, the DragCon T-shirt might have been $25, but it’s not your typical cheap scratchy cotton blend. It’s super soft and light!
Farrah Moan
So, as most of the queen’s booths operated, there were two separate lines. One to purchase merchandise, and one for the meet and greet. In order to meet a queen, you had to purchase a piece of their merchandise. From what I could gather, this was a pretty common practice among the show. It was a little frustrating having to wait in two separate lines, I feel like there definitely could have been an easier way to move the process along. Even though I bought a Farrah tank top, by the time I got there she was already done taking pictures, which was also frustrating. Don’t get me wrong, the girl’s gotta eat and take breaks, she’s a person not a machine. I’m not angry that she took a break, I just feel like there should have been a better way of communicating that information, rather than waiting until you got to the front of the line to tell you that you couldn’t actually meet Farrah until tomorrow. The ticket I got worked for the next day as well, so again, I was more agitated that I waited in a crazy long line when I could have been doing something else. BUT I actually ran into Farrah outside the show while I was walking to the Port Authority. She apologized but said she didn’t have time to take a photo, again- TOTALLY UNDERSTANDABLE. She was really sweet and looked gorgeous, as expected.

Wrapping it up and Headin’ Home!
A few other miscellaneous adventures included the red carpet photo-sesh; totally necessary. We also stopped at the VH1 booth for a quick photoshoot and metallic bag!
Day one was a huge success! I got most of my shopping done, as well as anything that required a crazy long line. I was aiming to do primarily shopping and waiting around on day one, so I could relax a little more on day 2 and really enjoy the show, rather than wandering around getting stuck in lines,
Day Two will be up very shortly! Let me know who your favorite queen is, and who you hope to see on all stars this season!
Love and lashes,
Katy

All the obamacare plans probably have better benefits than your current health insurance. bad news?
September 2013 An Early Look at Premiums and Insurer Participation in Health Insurance Marketplaces, 2014 Cynthia Cox, Gary Claxton, Larry Levitt, Hana Khosla Under the Affordable Care Act (ACA), individuals and families may purchase private insurance coverage through new state-based exchanges (or Marketplaces), which are set to open in October of this year for coverage beginning January 1, 2014. In states that decide against operating their own exchanges, the federal government will either run the exchange or work in partnership with the state to create an exchange. Regardless of whether an exchange is state-run or federally-facilitated, enrollees with family incomes from one to four times the federal poverty level (about $24,000 to $94,000 for a family of four) may qualify for tax credits that will lower the cost of coverage through reduced premiums and, in some cases, also be eligible for subsidies to reduce their out-of-pocket costs. This report presents an early look at insurer participation and exchange premiums both before and after tax credits for enrollees in the 17 states plus the District of Columbia that have publicly released comprehensive data on rates or the rate filings submitted by insurers. These include eleven states operating their own exchanges and seven defaulting to a federally-facilitated exchange. Plan availability and premiums for all states are expected to be available by October 1.""

Got a ticket for 30 over and have American Fam. Ins. 1st speeding ticket. Any insight on rate increase?
Aim a 23 year old male & this is my first ticket for speeding technically (I got a ticket 6 years ago for speeding but it was dismissed in court). I also totaled a car 7 years ago but that seems to be irrelevant now (I would think). I was sighted for going 75 MPH in a 45 MPH on interstate 670 in Columbus, Ohio (45 due to construction not in progress so fine was not doubled). The office stated to me that the traffic flow was moving well above the posted speed limit however I was moving a bit faster than the flow. My first question is should I take this to court and fight it (also hope the officer does not show) If the traffic flow was moving considerably over the posted limit then why wasnt any of the people ahead of my pulled over? Does anyone think this will stand in court or do you think the fact that I was going 30 over pretty much kill my defense? Also (since I believe I will have to pay) how much do you think my insurance rates will increase? Like I said I am a 23 year old male with 1 prior speeding ticket that was dismissed in court 6 years ago, totaled a car 7 years ago and received a ticket almost 3 years ago for peeling and squealing (which was BS). Any insight is helpful and thank you all for taking time to read my post and respond it means a lot.""

Car insurance stuff i don't understand.?
Hello everyone, I am an international student who's been in the USA (Buffalo, NY) for the past 2 years working hard on my masters (i'm 25 now). I bought a POS Saturn last year for 2000 dollars and, well, for that i needed to get car insurance since it's mandatory in this country. Since i was from abroad and i had a learner's permit at the time, i had to get insurance with my international license. Progressive was my only choice so i paid around 700$ for 6 months. That's the rate I've been paying for the last year. Unfortunately, i just don't have the money anymore to pay 700 more dollars for the next 6 months. I tried different insurance companies but they are all around the same range. Apparently, i was stupid enough to not get a credit card as soon as i landed in this country. I was raised with the if you don't have money, don't spend it philosophy so i just used my debit card. This is the only reason that i can see for these absurd rates. Every single one of my friends ( all international students ) pay around 200-250/six months dollars for their pieces of crap cars. I just feel like i'm not being given a fair deal. Not having any credit might put a penalty on me, i understand somewhat how a capitalist mind works... let's say about 100-150 more dollars for 6 months, but a whopping 500 $ ? Don't you think it's kind of messed up that first of all it's mandatory, and then there's no baseline to at least make sure that noone gets ripped off. Is there any way that a person can inquire why he is being charged so much(instead of the bs the agents tell you i.e your area is bad etc.)? Or are you at the mercy of these people?""

Need life insurance for 89 year old grandmother?
Does anyone know of any life insurance companies that I can get a life insurance policy on my 89 year old grandmother? She is currently in nursing home with dementia and in very poor health. So we need a life insurance policy on her of about $50,000 so we could buy a mobile home and a new car, which we don't have a car and to help us pay bills. We are getting her pension check of $218 a month so we could use that as monthly payment for the life insurance, but can put in some of our money if we have to but has to be under $300 a month. How does car insurance really work for new drivers?
I passed my road test with flying colors last Friday, but my parents refuse to either get me a car, or allow me to drive theirs by myself. They quote insurance as the main problem - new drivers who are male and under 25 typically get insurance rates that are like 200% plus the normal rate. Now if that were the way it really worked for everyone, I wouldn't say anything, considering that I know it's not my car I'd be driving. However, I have plenty of friends who use their parents insurance, but don't pay a penny extra. I'm wondering how exactly that is done, because if my parents had their way, I'd be driving with them sitting in the side seat until the age of 25 - not happening.""

Can you claim your car insurance if your car needs repairs not caused by an accident?
If you have fully comprehensive insurance can you make a claim even though you have not been in a crash or other accident? The car in question has an MOT however it needs extensive repairs and is not drivable. The repairs are going to cost more than the car is worth and so it really just needs to be scrapped or sold for a ridiculously small sum of money to someone who can fix it up. The problem is that there is still a huge outstanding balance for the loan repayment of the car! Can anyone help please?

Do most parents pay for their children's car insurance?
Ok, don't rant at me, I'm asking this question innocently. Basically, I want to know if it's common for parents to pay for their children's car insurance (I'm thinking of those 17, 18, 19, etc. who just passed their test and haven't moved out), or if the child is usually made to pay it themselves? I don't know if part time jobs will cover the cost or what (especially as I imagine they will usually pay for their own petrol), but 3000 a year does seem quite a bit for a teenager to be able to afford. And seems like more and more youngsters are getting cars... I don't think I would expect my parents to pay for mine when I pass my test, but then again I don't know how I'd be able to afford it myself either... So I'm looking for some insight on the topic.""

Car insurance estimate dispute?
I recently was bumped into in my parking lot and am trying to settle with their insurance company for how much the repair fee would be. I took it to one place and it was around $2100 with damage to both the front and back door (they said the front door would need to be replaced). I spoke with their insurance company and they said I needed to take it to their place to have an estimate. I took it to their place, and the guy asks me if I was going to have it repaired their or somewhere else. I told him I would get it repaired somewhere else, which meant I would get a check he told me. He inspected it and told me that there was a 50-50 chance it would need to be replaced on the front door so his estimate was only for $1300. He said if I go get it fixed and they say it is more, that their insurance will pay the difference. This sounded to me like they are trying to say if you want the cash you only get $1300. What should I do? Should I try to negotiate with their insurance company for the difference or get more estimates that say I would need the new door? I would like the check, but I feel like I am getting ripped off since it would take more to actually fix it more than likely.""

What should I do regarding my auto insurance situation?
I hit my dad's expedition with my Dodge Ram and caused about 1500 dollars in damage to my Ram, as estimated for parts and labor by a collision center, I hit the expedition's hitch which caused damage to me but barely a few scratches on the expedition. The expedition doesn't run, and is not even registered or insured. My dad is aware of the situation and has no interest in fixing his car and will not report me to the insurance or police. We have and still are on good terms. I have liability insurance, so it will not cover damage to my vehicle. My insurance policy expires in two weeks. What if I update my insurance with collision and comprehensive coverage that will cover my vehicle. Then I report that I hit an object and have them pay for it. Would this be cheaper in the short and/or long run than paying to fix out of pocket? Is such action above illegal, unethical, and/or against policy? Nikki James and LaChanze, Bubbly in 2000 and 2017, Okierete “Oak” Onaodowan, Mandy Patinkin
On the day I saw Nikki James give a star turn in “Bubbly Black Girl Sheds Her Chameleon Skin,” the Off Center Encores two-day revival of the musical by Kirsten Childs that is in part about the challenges facing a black performer, the producers of “Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet” announced that Mandy Patinkin would take over the role of Pierre for three weeks starting August 14, replacing Okierete “Oak” Onaodowan. Oak Smash, as he’s nicknamed, had assumed the role just on July 11th (taking over, after an unexpected delay, from Josh Groban) and was scheduled to perform through September 4. But, in an effort to boost ticket sales, which had declined after Josh Groban’s departure, the producers were ending Oak’s already brief run three weeks early. Most publications hurrahed Patinkin’s return to Broadway after 17 years. But Broadway Black observed: “…the abrupt replacement of [Oak’s} role to boost ticket sales raises questions about how Black actors are valued and supported within Broadway.” Prominent voices agreed on social media
Imagine 2 weeks into your great review in a new show, the producers come to u & “ask” you to step down so a white actor can take your place? pic.twitter.com/QV9Y83bnvi

What I know for a fact is that Oak worked extremely hard for this. Which makes this occurrence distasteful and uncouth.

So to you @OakSmash I offer my sincere apologies for this mishandling. You deserve better, and are worth much more than this.

In response to the outcry, Mandy Patinkin announced, in an e-mail to the Times andv series of four Tweets, that he was withdrawing from the role: My understanding of the show’s request that I step into the show is not as it has been portrayed and I would never accept a role knowing it would harm another actor. I hear what members of the community have said and I agree with them. I am a huge fan of Oak and I will, therefore, not be appearing in the show

But Oak has announced he’s still leaving August 13.

The controversy gave added resonance to Kirsten Child’s semi-autobiographical musical, making ‘Bubbly Black Girl’ if anything even more relevant now than it was when it debuted at Playwrights Horizons in 2000 starring LaChanze.
Nikki James portrays Viveca Stanton, nicknamed
Bubbly, a sunny middle class black child living in L.A. withdreams of being a dancer – and also of being white, like her favorite doll, blonde, blue-eyed Chitty Chatty. Nearly everything in her world as we see her growing up encourages her in her second dream, if not her first. She learns about the bombing death of four little girls in Birmingham from Gregory (Korey Jackson), the little boy next door, who taunts her that she looks just as ugly as one of the victims. A teacher tells a black classmate, “act your age and not your color.” A police officer accosts her and Gregory for no reason on the street outside her home, singing a chilling refrain:
You have the right to remain silent Remain silent remain silent Remain silent remain silent Hands up against the wall You’re about to take a fall
Even her mother, who talks about black pride, insists she straighten her hair. In dance class, Bubbly gets an early lesson in the racial politics of casting. The teacher, deliciously named Miss Pain, picks the light-skinned Yolanda to dance the princess. Bubbly is cast as the dancing Bramble Bush. Her classmate Emily had warned her in song:
You’re pathetic if you’re figurin’ that darker skin will ever help you win Now you can be the court jester, the scullery maid, or the monster
When she moves to New York to become a dancer – “a place where f—ked-up folks can make their dreams come true” — director Bob (Josh Davis) tells her during an audition “Don’t go white on me, Bubbly.” Bubbly then shares with us her inner monologue: “Okay – don’t panic – black, black, black, black, black, black…lot’s of black people in the South …okay…Southern accent, but not like a slave…’cause If I do get this job, I don’t want to offend the few black people that are gonna be in the audience any more than I have to…”
Her blackened second try brings down the house.
By the end of “Bubbly Black Girl Sheds Her Chameleon Skin,” Bubbly sheds her ever-smiling persona, and her nickname. After another audition in which she is no longer trying so hard to please other people, Director Bob tells her: “For this show, I need you to give me something a little less…dark.”
She replies: “You know, for the longest time, I’ve been trying to do exactly that— be a little less dark. But I can’t run away from who I am anymore. And I don’t want to.”
Viveca winds up opening her own dance studio. Kirsten Childs, who danced for Bob Fosse on Broadway and on tour (Director Bob is an obvious, satirical stand-in for Fosse), has become a composer and playwright, whose latest musical “Bella An American Tall Tale” was at Playwrights Horizon this season,)
One of the most remarkable aspects of Childs’ debut musical is that the racism that Bubbly witnesses and experiences is woven into a show that is full of satire, given hilarious expression in this production by the director, Robert O’Hara, who knows a thing or two about satire (as a playwright of such edgy comedies about race as Bootycandy and Barbecue.) But the satire is folded into an all-around entertainment. Childs melodic songs range from jazz to funk to gospel to Broadway ballads. And though Off-Center Encores is supposed to be a concert version of old Off-Broadway shows, another highlight of this production was Byron Easley’s choreography.
The show at City Center, in another words, was a triumph and a delight in every way. And, like Oak in The Great Comet, it’s a shame it had such a brief run.
