I just had to fulfill this request! Hunter and Darius give me such father and son vibes. And since Hunter deserves all the tickles and laughs, Darius makes sure to give his son just the right medicine! ( ๑ ˃̵ᴗ˂̵)و ♡

A tickly punishment

The clock showed 19:34. It was a peaceful evening in the boiling isles. Outside was already dark, the stars showing on the black sky, lighting it up.

Darius sat at his desk, trying to concentrate on his work, but the constant tapping of Hunter's fingers on the table was driving him insane. He glanced over at him, who was lost in his own world, completely oblivious to the annoyance he was causing.

With a sigh, Darius set down his pen and glared at him. "Hunter," he said, trying to keep his tone patient, "could you please stop tapping your fingers? It's distracting."

Hunter looked up, a mischievous glint in his eye. "Oh sorry, Darius." he said with a smirk, "I didn't realize it was bothering you."

Darius raised an eyebrow. He knew that look all too well. Hunter was deliberately being difficult, testing his patience just for the fun of it. Well, two could play at that game.

"Alright then," Darius said, a wicked grin spreading across his face. "If you insist on being annoying, I'll just have to teach you a lesson."

Before the boy could react, Darius lunged across the desk and picked Hunter up in a cradle to sit down on the bed with the blonde in his arms. Hunter immediately knew what was coming for him. 

“W-Wait-! D-Darius!” He wriggled around in his arms. “W-we can talk about this.!” 

“Talk?” Darius chuckled, his fingers already itching with mischief, “There’s nothing to discuss, my boy.”He grinned and started to squeeze up and down hunter sides, which resulted a squeal from the teen. 

“EEK-!! NohoHooO! Dariuhuhus!!” He wriggled. “StohohoOp—!” 

“And what have you done for me to stop tickling you? You’ve been annoying me on purpose the whole time I was working. Perhaps you wanted to be tickled? I think that sounds more truthful.” 

That made hunter blush. He did want to be tickled after all.

“Shuhuhut uhuUp-!!” He kept on giggling his head off. 

“Shut up?!” Darius barked, offended. (Jokingly of course.) “How dare you say that to me?! That attitude won’t do, little prince.” He then slipped his hands under his shirt to squeeze and wiggle his fingers between Hunters little ribs. Which was definitely one of his worst spots. 

“EEHEHEHEEK-! WAHAHAIT!! DAHAHARIUHUS-!!” He squealed, wriggling much more now, trying to escape those evil hands. 

Darius grinned even more. He liked seeing this reaction. He knew all the tickle spots in Hunter, and he was going to use them. 

“DAHAHARIUHUHUS!! DOHOHONT-! NOHOHOO-!!” The blonde trashed.

Darius raised an eyebrow. “Don’t what? Dont stop tickling? Don’t stop teasing you? Don’t stop counting your ribs? Hold on- I haven’t counted your ribs yet! That won’t do!! Now.. let’s see if you’ve got all your ribs in place!” He started wiggling a few fingers between each rib, as if counting them. “One little rib- two little ribs..-“ 

That teasy game sent hunter into snorts. 

“NAHAHAHAA-!! DAHAHARIUHUHUS— *snort!* SHIHIHIT- NOT THAHAHAT SOHOHOUND—“ He covered his face as he blushed from embarrassment at the sound that just flew out of his mouth.

“Awww, is someone a snorter? That’s cute.” The headwitch teased, only making Hunter blush more. “Awh now— your cute sound made me loose count on your ribs! I have to start all over again! But that’s not a problem is it? Now- ooooonee little rib, two little ribs-“ He vibrated his fingers between the rib-bones. 

“DARIUHUHUS!! PLEHEHEASE!! GOHO SOMEWHEHERE— *snort!* EHEHELSE-!!” 

He chuckled. “Oh you want me to go somewhere else? Hmm.. where should I goo..” He tapped his fingers on Hunters ribs, as in thought, which made Hunter twitch and giggle. “Ugh, I can’t choose! Hm- guess I’ll go everywhere then.”

The blonde blushed. “W-WHAT?” 

Darius made some abomination tentacles to appear, which climbed under Hunters shirt and socks. 

“W-WAIT-“ Hunter said nervously. 

The tentacles started wiggling and twisting around on his belly, sides, between his ribs, his armpits, neck, feet and knees. The small abominations felt like a hundred buzzing feathers, but in one spot. Hunter almost screamed with laughter from how much that tickled. “WAHAHAHAAIT—! NOHAOHOHOHOOO—! NOHOHOT THAHAHAHAHAT!! ANYTHIHIHING BUT THAHAHAT— *snort!* THATS SO MEHEHEHEEAAAHHAHAN-!!” He wriggled around in his lap, trying to catch the abominations. 

“Oh I’m mean? So you’re telling me you’re an angel after annoying me for an hour? Let’s be real.” Darius grinned with satisfaction.

“OH TITAHAHAHAAN-!! DAHAHAHARIUHUHUS- PLHEEHEHEHEEAHAHASE!! IT TICKLEHEHEHEHES-!!!” He begged, starting to get tears in his eyes. 

“Oh it tickles? Never would have known.” The headwitch answered.

“PHLEHEHEHEHEASE-!!” Hunter begged again.

"Alright, alright," Darius said, chuckling as he ruffled Hunters hair. "I think you've learned your lesson." He removed the tickly tentacles, smiling down at him.

Hunter grinned up at his father, his cheeks flushed and his eyes sparkling with laughter. Despite the chaos and the occasional annoyance, moments like these were what made their father-son bond so special.

"Thanks, Dad," Hunter said, still breathless from laughter. "I needed that."

“Dad.?” Darius almost teared up.

“C-can I call you that.?” Hunter asked nervously.

Darius hugged him tightly, stroking his hair. “Please do, my son.” A tear ran down his cheek in emotion. 

Darius smiled fondly at Hunter through tears, and Hunter smiled back, feeling loved.

“Thanks dad.”

I love your hagsquad takes and hcs btw, and I was wondering do you have any for darius's friendship with eda and raine?

Thank you :D I mainly write them down here to keep them from cluttering up my mind. I figured to share them in a blog in case it might interest or entrained someone.

The thing about Darius that I love and find hilarious is that refined and posh Darius attracts feral friends.

Eda is well...we know how chaotic she is. Alador has own version of chaos. Eberwolf is legit feral. Perry isn't as bad as the others, but I think that kid has ran headfirst into danger to get first hand of the truth of the story multiple times. Plus, I think he gets very excitable. Odalia is a different type of chaos, petty and spiteful. The previous Golden Guard/ Darius mentor most likely had their own chaoticness with the simple fact of being Belos right hand man. Raine may be the least feral of them all beside Lilith. Which is refreshing for Darius. However Raine had their moments.

I assume, your question pertains their friendship to their younger years. I love Darius, and think about him and Alador often as they are my favorite hagsquad members. Darius and Alador are so intertwined that I never really put much thought of Darius outside of Alador (and therefore Odalia) in his younger years.

My take on Raine is they generally match the vibe, like a giant sponge that soaks in the energy and Raine hidden traits would surface to reflect based of who they are with. Which is usually near mischievous chaos since they usually hang with Eda. With Eda they own mischievous trouble making nature surface but they are a lot more aware of consequences of their actions then Eda. Raine try to be the voice of reason to Eda but get swayed by Eda (Mostly, Eda can talk them into anything with little reservation from Raine)

Now, Raine just one and one with Darius is a lot more dialed back. Raine calming maturity surface. As I mention before about Darius, Alador is his bestie, but I think he went along with Lilith. I love the idea of him being besties with Odalia too because it seems really fitting, but with flashbacks it doesn't seem that way. He just get along with Odalia really well as they have a lot of shared interest beside Alador. I am leaning towards Odalia and Darius were actually friends, but it more recent/the last few school years (not childhood friends) and Odalia was mostly associated with Alador which was extended to Darius as those two boys were nearly glued at the hip. Odalia was probably a pretty decent friend in her younger years but given a choice of something benefiting her friend vs herself she would pick herself 93.97% of the time. The 6.03% being something minor or trivial that she willing to give up when she in a pleased mood. Tho, he and Odalia probably bicker a lot over stupid teenager things for example, what's the better boy band. They are absolutely petty to each other over trivial things.

But teenage Darius and Raine? I assume pretty good friends with the short time frame they were giving during the school years. They may discuss more "adultish interest" such as "cultured" things that didn't interest Eda or Alador. For example, fine art and musicals and such. Both thoroughly enjoying their conversations as they probably don't really have anyone else to discuss to and it was refreshing to finally have someone to do so.

Darius probably gave a lot of advice on fashion to Raine how they can still look great while remaining neutral looking. Like, a minor small adjustment that took an obvious feminine or masculine article clothing they really like but the minor tweek on Darius advice made it neutral.

They both seek each other if they need a serious insight on something (Mostly their crushes on their besties) outside of their besties opinions. Both good at listening and giving advice with an outside perspective. Everyone but Alador knew of Darius crush but Darius was still in denial. Darius went to Raine when he stop denying and came into terms with his feelings for Alador. He discussed them with Lilith at first a few time but stopped. Lilith was great with the outside perspective but she didn't relate. It was much easier to discuss his pining with Raine who had experienced it. They get to bounce of each other their frustrations and woe. This deepen their friendship rapidly as they were confining their deepest selves to each other and neither said anything to break the others trust. Which is funny because their shared secrets they told each other, the student body has already speculated and was treated as common knowledge.

They both had an interest in the drama club. Darius making costumes and Raine with the music. (Alador was a total stagehand/set & prop design) Darius was also interested in acting. I think Raine was too but was really nervous about it, then discovered they had stage fright or something during their musical that scarred impressionable teenage Raine to gain stage fright. They didn't seem too nervous during H.E.C.K/I.F.W.O.T) granted they did a few times before hand so they had experience that may lessen their anxiety. But if someone who cannon been mention they had stage fright, they didn't seem too sheepish or nervous improvising to pretend to fight Eda with the spotlight on them in front of a coven head. All of the squad was involved in the musical. Alador wanted to stay backstage but was force to be on stage a handful of times due to lack of members to perform. He was terrible at it, and fell several times and kept going in the wrong directions.

Darius with Eda, I just have an impression he sort of hung back and let her do her thing. He was just along for the ride. He enjoys hanging out with her. She breaks him out of the cool maturity he hold himself in but she's like the devil on his left shoulder that he would roll his eyes playfully with a mischievous smirk forming on his lips when she whispers her devious pranks ideas and go along with it. She pretty much brings him back down to act his age or little younger.

They are also very competitive with each other. With physical prowess and sports to stupid wagers. Eda often dares him which he usually follows through even reluctantly because he prideful and he cant have Eda gloat about whatever stupid dare she made. Eda takes full advantage of this often daring him on things that she knows he right about but dares him otherwise because he has a need to prove her wrong.

All three together? Well, I think it changes up dramatic over the course of their school time. Raine was only at Hexside for a year or two and during that time Raine befriended everyone, have awkward teenage will they?/wont they? with eda, possibly follow through the will they part during the end of the year, and Darius own falling out with Alador. So with each episode of those would change up the dynamic of the trio.

The will they/won't they would have Darius rolling his eyes alot and teasing them playfully. Give them advice individual to help them along to get together. Eda called him out at one point about him giving advice but hasn't done a thing about Alador who he *OBVIOUSLY* has a crush on. Darius turned red and sputtered at that in denial.

Will they: Darius be happy for them but probably be nauseated of their sickenly sweet affections. Starts to feel like a third wheel. Especially if it was during the time of his fallout with Alador.

Between the two events: Darius would be slightly irritated by the obvious tension and feeling nauseous as they give each other lovey dovey eyes. "WILL YOU TWO KISS ALREADY!"

During the fallout Darius was most likely bitter at a few points, Especially if Eda and Raine are together. Not bitter at them, but bitter about his own love life or lack thereof while his friends flourishes before his eyes. If there was a angsty emo teenage Darius phase, it would be at this time. Him pretending and failing at hiding that hes not bothered by his falling out/ possibly turned down /possibly unrequited love. He spout cringy emo sayings when he feeling particularly low. “Never make someone your everything because when he leaves, there goes your everything.", “Sometimes it’s better to be alone. No one can hurt you that way.”, “What hurts more than losing you is knowing that you’re not fighting to keep me.” 

*Can you tell I'm enjoying imagining for the first time, a teenaged emo phased Darius here?*

Again, I haven't thought too much on it but here are my thoughts in the thirty minutes it took me to write this since it was brought to my attention. Hopefully, its was at least somewhat entertaining.

oh thank you! i really love to consider Hunter's relationship to his self, both the abstract sense of self and also his like, physical existence, wrt his trauma.

he's just so... his whole thing is just so much about being used and dehumanized. he was literally made to be an object for Philip's use, and not even one of any like, objective significance - there were no big plans, he wasn't needed for the Day of Unity ritual (a headcanon about what a grimwalker might be for that i used to have), he literally just exists for no reason other than to be Philip's combination stress ball/teddybear/caretaker/whipping boy/brother replacement.

so like - he came into existence because Philip wanted him to, to fulfill his own needs. and then he was raised as a soldier, made into a weapon to fight on Philip's behalf, guard him, carry out his orders, etc etc.

and i think we get a lot of evidence that Hunter basically just occupies a series of roles that are expected of him. even just with s2e6 and s2e9, we saw that there was a very definite difference between Hunter, without the mask or uniform or weight and status of his rank, and the Golden Guard, Emperor's right-hand man. and at the end of s2e6, there's that very interesting bit where he comes right out of that audience with Philip where, remember, he gets verbally abused and then physically threatened, and then as soon as he sees Kikimora he puts on that Smug Little Shit persona and acts like everything is fine.

he switches roles so quickly, and is so able to just... push down and dismiss whatever emotions he's feeling. and then after Hollow Mind, when he abandons the role he's trained his entire life for, he's just an absolute wreck.

so like obviously he hangs a lot of his personality on that! it means so much to him, to be the Golden Guard, and what is that? it's whatever Philip wants it to be, basically. whatever anyone tells him he needs to be, because without Philip around he just immediately turns to Darius to validate him and approve of him and tell him what he needs to do to be worthy.

he just seems to have so little internal sense of self and rely so heavily on external validation and guidance. and i see him as someone who dissociates a lot, too, which i also think there's plenty of canon evidence for.

anyway, all of that adds up to seeing him as a person who has a very practical, utilitarian relationship with his own body.

(this is also, tbh, why i don't really vibe with the headcanon some people like that he experiences serious food insecurity - i know Amity called him 'scrawny', but, i mean, his character model doesn't bear that out, he just kind of Has That Vibe because he looks exhausted and unwell, and it just doesn't make sense for Philip to expect him to be a soldier and then also not feed him. sweet parkour tricks take a lot of calories!)

so yeah i just see him as someone who sees his body first and foremost as a tool. he exists to be a shield, a bodyguard, a weapon, a show of the Emperor's strength, etc etc. he exists to carry out orders, fulfill expectations, lead and succeed at missions. and like he's clearly very skilled at combat, and that takes a lot of practice - he's spent a very long time honing his body and his physical skills.

for some people this can lead to a deeper sense of connection with the body, but Hunter just seems so disconnected from himself in general, and again like, all of his trauma is so very much about being dehumanized.

(my headcanon of him as a csa survivor also plays into this - it creates further distance between himself and his body, is another situation where he separates his consciousness from his physical existence in order to cope. it's just another thing his body is for, another way that he exists for someone else's use and pleasure, and things like 'being attractive' don't factor into it - Philip might desire him and enjoy using him that way, but it's just one of his duties, that's all.)

so, yeah. my headcanon there is that he just doesn't really think of himself like that one way or the other. his body has certain needs - fuel, cleanliness, wound care, sleep - that he fulfills as necessary for it to keep functioning, so he can carry out whatever duties he's assigned. if it gets hurt or scarred, that doesn't matter. if it's hungry or tired, that only matters insofar as it interferes with his ability to perform his duties. what it's wearing or how it looks or how it's touched or seen or used doesn't matter except insofar as he needs to know what's expected of him in the current moment.

Spoilers for The Owl House 3.03 Watching and Dreaming

Okay so .... I have a lot of words about this episode!

Since I’ve just watched it don’t expect anything here to be cohesive since I am basically just ranting from memory and getting all my thoughts down in writing. No profound meaning behind everything here, just vibes :’D

The Collector - their mini arc in the episode and having them learn to appreciate life, forgiveness and friendship was such a treat - I screamed and actually feared for their life when they ran to Belos then to scream at Luz breaking apart (dying) afterwards - I had no idea this was the way the crew would go with the collector but I loved it

Belos - fucking hell, I am glad he finally died!! I am a little sad that we didn’t get more of his backstory with Caleb but I think what we did get about Belos especially though the words of the titan to Luz in the inbetween fits well with the story and gives closure to Luz and her doubts about being as ‘bad as Belos’. Also him melting in the boiling rain and Luz being over him to the point of not even flinching when Belos tries to manipulate her? Good stuff!! So was the call back to the first episode with the Good Witch Luz pulling Belos off the dying heart of the titan!!

The dream sequences ... I actually thought those and the games would take up more screentime but I am not too sad about it since what we got was pretty much just as angst as I’d thought it would be - and giving time to Raine being badass resisting Belos and Luz meeting the titan was a far trade off for me

I did get some Amphibia the Hardest Thing vibes from the Luz meeting a deity in the in-between after “death” only to get back to life bit but again I don’t mind it since it ended in a pretty badass finale seeing Luz, King and Eda fight side by side 

Seeing the rest of the Hexside squad helping to free the other inhabitants of the Boiling Isles with the help of best mom Camila was pretty fun although a part of me had wanted to see them have a bigger impact on the story: still, it was nice checking in with them once and twice and gosh I adored Amity for being the first to genuinely giving up her hand of friendship to the collector after Luz has just told them about friendship - it was a perfect moment in my mind.

The scenes of people meeting up with their family was so sweet - I enjoyed it a lot especially with Hunter getting his found family in Darius and Ebberwolf :3

Yet to me the real beauty was the epilogue - seeing all the different ways that the peeps on Earth and the boiling Isles have grown up and their new looks! I love Luz’ eyeshadow, and gah, Vee’s piercings look so cool!!! (I wonder if the nose piercing is a nod to the voice actor also being the voice of Amethyst? I believe she had a nosering  (Amethyst?)? I could be wrong, this is literally my unhinged, first thoughts written down unedited) - Willow being a badass sports girlie fits so well and I love the short hair for her, Gus looks incredible with those gold accessories in his dreadlocks, and Amity as a badass air explorer with a sidecut? Hello!!!? Hunter is killing me being this adorable taking up the mantle as apprentice of Dell and aaaaa the blue bird is gorgeous and somehow fits Hunter so well :’D what really killed me about him tho was two fold 1) Flapjack’s grave and 2) the red thing on Hunter’s arm that king of sort of looks like a Flapjack tattoo to cover up his empire coven sigil OVO

And then hello white haired Raine!? Why do they slay with that haircolour and the ‘tear down’ scars!? this look fits them so well, and I am so happy seeing them together with Eda, finally :’3

The ending sequence with the collector sending the fireworks and all the casts saying “Bye” feels like the biggest nod to the fans - thank you so much Dana, the crew, the cast, the animators, everybody for this wonderful show!!

3x02 Thoughts

Spoilers below

- Things I was spoiled for before the episode: saw that ghost!caleb was going to haunt Belos in writing, saw a screencap of possessed Raine. - Amity wants to be a writer!!! :D I was kind of wondering about what she was interested in doing bc we’ve talked about Gus wanting to be a representative to the human realm and Willow has flyer derby and Hunter has palismen carving and Luz, of course, wants to be a witch (and maybe an artist too). So it feels nice to get what amity wants to do. Also nice to see them together. - MURDER CAVE!!! It’s back and bigger than ever!!! I was kinda hoping that Caleb had moved on, and while I can see the spin on this that Belos is just seeing things because of “guilt” (hmm...) I kinda doubt it. Caleb is giving me death omen energy. The scene when Belos tried to possess that grimwalker was super cool though. - I’m unhappy about the whole puppet thing. I get it, but it actually dampers my enjoyment a little to see that happen to these characters because I really can’t imagine two months of being like that, especially for Darius and Raine (and Eber), and even like... Perry and Willow’s dads.) It’s p bad and I know they can turn back but I hope we get to really see them again before the end of the show, like I hope it gets reversed before halfway through next episode because I’m gonna cry and scream if we don’t get the adults fighting alongside the kids. Also it just really sucks that Belos didn’t possess Odalia fr.  - King. That’s the whole point here. -Aside from the puppet stuff, the Collector is growing on me a little. I like that he let Eda and Lilith out because he saw how much King loved Eda. I love his vibe, he’s very special to me. I like the outfit he put Odalia in, she looks nice lmao. I hope he realizes that he needs to make his own friends and put the effort in and goes off somewhere else to grow because that would make me happy. - I don’t like the Raine possession, it makes me sad and I’m worried we won’t get to see them enough before the end of the series because we already missed out on them in this episode. Same with Darius but oh well. It also flags some bad tropes about poc being possessed for white people narrative (like... Raine is Eda’s love interest and it feels that this choice was only made for Raeda which I’m sure is correct and even though I love that couple I think there were better ways to deal with it but I hope they surprise me. -I don’t like Boscha’s redemption (She’s giving Belos codependant energy a little and it’s funny that she focuses on Amity when Skara is right there although Skara knows Skara deserves better) but I liked the Hexside stuff still and Matt. I like him more now that we had more time with him and bc looking glass ruins. -And the topic of the hour, apparently... Huntlow. I think it’s cool that Willow kind of starts as someone who ignores the bad things around her and learns to accept them and be okay with crying, that’s cool. Willow really needed that. I don’t like that Hunter has magic but I didn’t mind the Huntlow, it didn’t bother me that much because I liked what they did with her arc and how they got there, even if I’m still not happy about magic Hunter (that better be the only magic he got istg).

a) obvious:

Jack owns a private asylum at 29 and Vyn (co-)owns a research & treatment centre at 27; both owning their own foundation at a young age

i think they're both still doing research? Vyn is a professor and Jack did want to make a breakthrough to help people

b) deeper:

Vyn's trope is love at the first sight. Jack falls in love with anyone in 5m radius that stays with him lol

...submissive. Jack "in our old adventures, quincey gave instructions and (arthur and) i followed" Seward and Vyn 2nd Anniversary SSR for the obvious one (tho it's always been there..👀)

there's this theme of Jack trying to prevent himself going on a path bc he knows it's where madness lies, he even questions he may even be mad; in Vyn top-up ssr iirc he has a friend who killed themselves and that friend loved their partner so much that it turned him possessive and hurt them, Vyn was shaken by this and afraid of what his love could become.

related to prev point, Jack's way of doing things is risky and sometime even borderline dangerous when he gives in to his curiosity; there's this conversation between Vyn and Darius in his PS Ch.3 where Darius disagreed with Vyn's way bringing MC to a dangerous PUA. [ss below] like, for both, the inclination is there.

difficulty in showing vulnerable side; Jack, in text, dictates men this women that but his actions shows that it's as if he's clinging desperately to follow that notion while fighting back his emotions, which eventually gets let out either way (worth nothing that what we've read is watered down, filtered version; and it still shows); early Vyn was.. let's talk about False Tears. i still think the best interpretation is, yes the emotion is there, and yes he exaggerates it to be comforted, BUT! only because he didn't think he deserved to be comforted (i dont think i explain this well but i can't remember where to find the old thread that actually did lol sorry). also, you know his worldview on broken things that got challenged in <Mended Hearts>? i do think it stems from his vulnerability and helplessness at his own incapability to help.

c) misc.:

early fandom experience is more or less the same lmaoo. oh to be a vyn stan at the start (~first 3 months was severe lol then again there are still. some. yk.) of tot glb... (it wasn't fun)

...daddy issues. vyn is canon while jack is (stolen) hc in the way that a lot of things about his character would make sense

crack time but they would not get along if they ever meet. only surface politeness.

they're both good with their hands; Jack with lock-picking and Vyn with crafting.

lastly, I'd say that before that modern au Jack would be close to Vyn in likeliness, but will never be like him because Vyn's self-confident and while he exudes a poor little meow meow vibes a bit, Jack's too much of a wet cat pathetic man.

so consider: both

hunter runs into the woods (as you do) and either becasue they (eberworlf, darius, raine) got caught off guard and didn't realize something was Wrong until later/didn't want to reveal their identities/assumed hunter was in a rush to get back to the castle and they could talk to him later

and hunter runs into the bat queen

he gets to vibe with the bat queen in the woods for a while, relax for one in his life, untangle and work through all these complicated/conflicting feelings in an environment without other people's influence and for the first time, really consider who the fuck he is without the coven, and he gets to hang with the other palismen

and then later, when it's closer to the day of unity, it's darius that ends up finding him/goes to track him down, they talk yay, and hunter goes back with darius to help all of them kick belos's ass :D

CONTEMPORARY PRACTICE REFERENCES - 3, 4 & 5

FlyerWrk

Flyerwrk is an agency I researched during the D&AD project. Whilst looking at their work I had also noticed the unique layout and colour scheme they used on their website. My overall vibe would not suit this particular colour scheme, however I find the way they use colour to link their dark, dingy all together inspirational. I also love the use of sideshows in their portfolios of different projects. This allows the viewer to be interactive, making the experience more interesting. I would like to add this technique into my own website

Cedilla.Studio

Cedilla.studio is a studio which specialises in graphics and type. They provide unique typefaces, fonts, assets and bespoke custom design services..They are known for Cedilla which transforms the ‘pronunciation of certain letters, creating distinct sounds that significantly impact the meaning of words.’ Out of all of the references I have looked at so far, Cedilla’s website intrigued me the most. Their different fonts are presented in a perfectly laid out form which helps lead the viewer through the website. They also use the alphabet to help separate their projects, making it all easier to find.

DopeDarius

Darius Parkinson (DopeDarius) is a free-lance graphic designer based in the United Kingdom. He works with some of the UK’s most popular urban street wear brands.

I am very inspired by Parkinson’s work due to being interested in fashion myself. His website carefully showcases his best projects in a simplistic yet effective way. He uses negative space to make the work stand out and also not overwhelm the viewer. I am interested in how he adds moving image on his home page where the background is animated with the logo but is blurred so that the text over top is easily seen.

I would like to use his technique of using a strip of colour / image to section his work into projects.

ANYWAY, I know this is super corny but I’m seriously super grateful to have met you during the Drew internship. I know you don’t remember this and don’t ask me why I do okay, but the first time we spoke was actually when the devil FWL made us do that stupid game at the end of the sem where we had to line up and answer questions about LRW. I don’t really rmb what we talked about, but you gave off such a cheerful vibe that I rmbed you for the next two years LOL (it’s giving joe from you but um) AND I’M SUPER GLAD THAT WE MET AGAIN DURING DREW. You made the internship so fun, and I’ll always rmb our marks and spencers trips, the raffles place swing, and the time your heels gave up on you… Thanks for being part of my core memories of Y3S1, including all the laughs we had during blackoak and ethics (and ofc darius and kp korkor) and the jb trip that finally made it out of the group chat :’) 

I hope that you’ll have a happy 22nd birthday in Paris, even though you’re really far from your friends and family : ( You’re one of the most genuine, funny and kind-hearted person I’ve met so far, not just in law school but really just ever. For some reason, being around you kind of brings me back to secondary school, and it’s such a warm, comforting feeling and such a breath of fresh air. I really really hope that whatever problems you’re facing now (and in the future) will be resolved, and that you never change :D Even though you’re in Paris, you can always talk to me if there’s anything wrong.

REVIEW

I loved this episode! I'm still mad at myself for missing half of it, but whatever, it was fun trying to connect stuff lol xD. And it wasn't TOO confusing, so that's nice xD. I do need to look up who that guy Darius is though, lol. . . Anyway! The calls were interesting, people were being icons left and right, and it was generally just fun with a big focus on love (I know it was technically fantasies but yk :) )! Loved it, good episode :D. Now onto the individual characters and calls :)).

Okay episode 9 airs in just over half an hour so let's do this! The rest was written day of I believe but nonetheless lol. Anyway! I watched the rest, and I liveblogged it, and I looked up who Darius was today xD.

So!

Eddie and Chris (plus Buck because we got Uncle Buck this ep in all the ways)! THAT WAS ADORABLE 😭😭😭. Just- your honor I love them s o m u c h. Also, Carla being a queen as always 😌😌😌. That scene after they first talked to Chris was hilarious lol. Also just, CHRIS IS GROWING UP AHHHH 😭😭😭❤️🥰🥰❤️. Help, I'm too emotional about this lol. Like that ending scene with the three of them??? Amazing. Top tier content, thank you so much xDD. He's growing up and I love him <333. Also I love how Buck was like as invested if not more than Eddie lol, amazing xD.

And Buck with Jee!!! Literally amazing 😭😭😭. And a mood too xD. Like the vibes in general, but also I am not good at taking care of children. I think Buck is, Jee's just a toddler and that's always hard, but still lol. Adorable 🥰🥰❤️❤️ <33.

Speaking of, Maddie and Chimney are getting a house!!! Or looking, anyway :DD. AHH I love them so much :))). I hope they do eventually find something, it sounds like a great storyline :). Plus I just want them too lol.

Anyway, May! She SLAYED this ep :D. I'm glad Darius is back! Yes I forgot who he was, shh, we haven't seen him since season 3 - I would know, I looked him up like, two hours ago xD. But phew, I'm glad he's okay :). That other dude was crazy, but May did great talking to him and with everything :)) <333. Just- her, your honor ❤️❤️.

Also Bobby and Athena at Darius being back but his parents being mad at him like: 😅. But they're eyeing each other lol.

Oh and that poor boy Hen kissed XDD. That scene was hilarious, lol. Plus it had all of them being like: . . . ?? -.-??? about the noise on the roof lol xD. Amazing, if second hand embarrassment inducing right afterwards.

And speaking of that (speaking of, again lol), the calls this ep we're great! Very interesting and unique, as always lol, but I would say especially this episode! Like, the one with the couple, for example, they were on their way to a different call when they ended up right in the middle of that one lol. But yeah, really cool!

Also poor Athena having to deal with that guy who fantasized about killing his boss xD. She was trying her hardest with him LOL, but he was not helping whatsoever xD. Amazing.

Overall, I really loved this episode. I thought the theme was great, there were so many hilarious scenes, and I just really liked all the storylines :). So much found family this ep :D. And just family in general! Anyway, the next episode looks veeery interesting, especially off of what I saw on the description when I glanced at it while trying to jog my memory for these two reviews lol. Apparently something about Denny wanting to know about his biological parents? I don't think that was in the promo, but it sounds super interesting 👀.

So yeah! I loved the episode, I thought it was great. And I'm interested to see what happens in the next one! This has been my review of. . .
