P. Otiosus (subadult male)
P. Regius (adult female)
Two Salticidae species from Florida that are known to cross breed in nature.  Regius are far more common, I used to find them everywhere.  Despite a lot of collecting, I very rarely came across P. Otiosus in the wild.  Both are quite large, colorful examples of jumping spider.

“Hiking Miner's Ravine, Roseville, California.”
©2023 Gary L. Quay
I was out for a hike on a 96º day in Northern California, and just happened to have my infrared camera along. It was a good day for infrared. This backlit tree seemed to agree.
Camera: Nikon D300 (infrared conversion)
Lens: Vintage 20mm Nikkor

Two of my favorite caterpillar sessions, both in their natural habitat in North Florida. The First species pictured here I've never been quite sure of, so if anyone knows please leave it in the comments. I found these in woodlands, often crawling around on wooden railings. Quiet a large and long species, relatively speaking. The second one here is pretty well known, and common, so that ID I'll include below.
Papilio cresphontes Cramer, Adult giant swallowtail,
Everything is shot with Nikon Gear, D300 paired with either my 28mm Nikkor reverse mounted or a Sigma 105EX on tubes. Flash is boosted with a diffuser.

Playing in the rain, just playing in the rain
Tumblr media
I like taking photos in rain. And of rain.
These two boys near the old temple Beng Mealea, between Siem Reap and Koulen Mountain National park played on unabated by the downpour. Adding some needed spots of colours to the shot.
Why travel during rainy season
Travelling in Asia during rainy seasons does not really bother me. I am neither a beach dweller nor a crazy sun lover. Culture, history and seeing peoples life and living are my main interests. And that is often better experienced during the cooler weather the rain provides. Since people leave their house and covers when the sun is not hammering down.
Normally during rainy season, it rains in spells morning and afternoon, when it is time for a break anyway.
And enjoy the look, feel, sound and smell of rain.
For some more shots from Prasat Beng Mealea.
