Jukebox January: Day 20
Main post / Tag
Day 20: Songs starting with T
Funny how the very first thing with "T" that came into my mind was "Tavastia", which not only isn't even music, it's a club in a country I've never been to. Why is the brainrot like this?
Tokio by Joker Out The ultimate "dream yourself away" song for me, and right now I just want to take it and wrap myself in it as if it was a blanket.
The Sun by Parov Stelar (feat. Graham Candy) My favorite song from the album, I just love this so so much ahhhh! It reminds me of summer evenings spent on my friend's balcony, of daydreams of being far away, pastel colors, and finding yourself. Ugh, I love this so much!!!
Toiset samanlaiset by Elastinen (feat. Käärijä) When I listen to this, I just feel like the cool main character, and oh the cunty energy! Even when grocery shopping or anything, it's just everything, and so so fun! If you had told me a year ago that I would listen to Finnish rap, I'd have thought you're crazy, but really I love it. Elastinen in general is so nice to listen to while working.
Tobogan by MRFY I don't know, this one just feels like a hug from a friend, and I love it so so so so so much! It's overall just so vibey, and I could listen to it forever.
Thousand Miles by Tove Lo I just love this so much, the emotions, the intensity of the lyrics, right now I just want to run away and go hug my friends.
Treasure by Fewjar One of my absolute favorites of theirs, the vibes are just everything and the lyrics hit so so so much! "I've got a million flaws - I'll find a million more - For you", ugh it's just everything.
Two Orbits by Fewjar (feat. Marie Meimberg) I love this one so much, the vibes are everything and I especially love the "Go forth pretending" part.
The King Of Rock 'n Roll by Prefab Sprout I totally found this because of the series I Am Not Okay With This (and I'm still salty that they canceled it after one season), the scene where Stanley does his thing to it is just everything to me, and I am in love with his outfit at the end (the light blue suit with the Enya t-shirt underneath) and I have been wanting to steal it ever since I first saw it.
Tapirsupper by Fewjar I still remember watching the behind the scenes videos from when they made the MV, and it was all so creative to me. This song is just so good too, and I forever wondered what exactly is "Tapirsupper", but the beautiful thing is that I have understood now that you can imagine yourself what it can be.
Think About Things by Daði og Gagnamagnið My favorite one from all Eurovision 2020 songs, it is just so incredibly fun! And seeing a bunch of nerds being happy and nerdy just was so 💖
Tung Tung by (G)I-DLE My favorite sad song by them, back when I was very depressed in 2021 and 2022 this was just so comforting to me to listen to on my walks.
Tainted Love by Soft Cell 80s goodness, nothing else to say!
Take On Me by a-ha We actually do this in Zumba as well, and I already really liked the song as is.
Te Amo by Rihanna I think if I tried listening to this right now, I would just burst into tears.
Te vi by Piso 21 & Micro TDH This one is from Zumba, and the choreo is just so nice.
Tears Getting Sober by Victoria I remember really liking this one when it came out for Eurovision in 2020, before the world shut down. Yep, it has huge Billie Eilish vibes and many said that the artist should try to find her own style, but the song was cool nonetheless. Right now it's not really my vibe.
Telephone by Lady Gaga This one was just everything to me back then, the wonderfully edgy MV, the choreo, just yes.
Tell Mama by ALMA This one is beautiful, and I'm clearly not okay because I have tears in my eyes now.
The Devil You Know by Kovacs
The Fox (What Does The Fox Say?) by Ylvis This one was ridiculous back then, and I still vividly remember our Japanese exchange student do this one for the practical music exam and he absolutely slayed, we were crying from joy and fun!
The Great Commandment by Camouflage
The Ketchup Song by Las Ketchup It's iconic.
The Killing Moon by Echo & The Bunnymen
The Less I Know The Better by Tame Impala This is just vibey! I feel like a lot of my "T" songs have a specific vibe and would fit in a playlist together so nicely.
The Loneliest by Måneskin
The Sea by Parov Stelar (feat. Harald Baumgartner) This is just gorgeous and makes me think of sunshine on the snow and icecream at the sea in summer, I don't know why.
This Is The Life by Amy Macdonald
This Love by Maroon 5
Thrift Shop (Cover) by Postmodern Jukebox This swing cover is just incredible.
Thunderstruck by AC/DC
Tik Tok by Ke$ha This is the song that (like so many people I guess) introduced me to Ke$ha, and really it was a banger back then.
TOMBOY by (G)I-DLE This is just so fun, and I love the edgier vibes.
Tom's Diner (Cover) by AnnenMayKantereit x Giant Rooks The vibes are just immaculate, and I am so so glad to have re-discovered AMK a few days ago.
Toxic by Britney Spears
Trouble In Paradise by Alice Merton
True Disaster by Tove Lo
Try by John Newman
Turning Tables by Adele This was my favorite during my 14-17 year old depression, just after I moved away from my friends.
Two Hearts by NZCA This just goes so incredibly, I don't even know what they put in there, but omg!
Two Princes by Spin Doctors

Eurovision 2023 pt. 1
pt. 2 | pt. 3
It’s this time of the year again! To honor beginning of Eurovision week here’s my opinion on this year’s songs and my ideal qualifiers at the end. No hate, just positive vibes here, feel free to disagree.
Semi-Final 1
Croatia (Let 3 – Mama ŠČ!) – You either love it or hate it. I personally love it – it’s grotesque, weird, absolutely unique and outstanding. We’ll forget most of song from this Eurovision in few years, but not this one. It shows that there’s not just one way to convey an anti-war message.
Ireland (Wild Youth – We Are One) – Not a big fan of this one. Sounds like it comes from a Disney Channel teen movie. It has a summerish, positive vibe, but that’s about it. Also, the live performance from Irish TV leaves much to be desired.
Latvia (Sudden Lights – Aijā) – At first I wasn’t a big fan of it, but right now it’s one of my faves. The vibe of this song makes me wanna lie on the floor and just become one with this song. And they’re great live performers.
Malta (The Busker – Dance (Our Own Party)) – This song feels like it’s a mix of Daði og Gagnamagnið, The Roop and SunStroke Project. It has its own charm, the staging is eventful and the lyrics are relatable. While it’s not one of my faves, it holds a special place in my heart.
Norway (Alessandra – Queen Of Kings) – Definitely one of the strongest participant this year. The song has everything that Eurovision wants: the strong vocals, the lyrics, the staging, the vibe and the powerful message. My only concern is whether it being a viral is more of an advantage or disadvantage.
Portugal (Mimicat – Ai Coração) – Amazing, vintage, burlesque vibe. Not my favorite, but I really enjoy it.
Serbia (Luke Black – Samo Mi Se Spava) – My number 1 since I’ve heard a few seconds of it on PZE recap. I love the message and the dark, mysterious vibe. It feels like it belong in a trailer of some epic, post-apocalyptic game. I regularly listen to it on repeat.
Azerbaijan (TuralTuranX – Tell Me More) – Do they have a chance? Probably not, but they still bring a great, chill vibe.
Czech Republic (Vesna –  My Sister's Crown) – My Slavic heart loves all of it – the message, different Slavic languages and folklore elements. You don’t get bored listening to it. I just feel, Vesna need to work on their live performance for it to be perfect.
Finland (Käärijä – Cha Cha Cha) – Before Finland’s NF I didn’t get the hype for this song. I found it weird, messy and chaotic. But after seeing live performance and public going absolutely crazy for it, I started to get it. Now it’s one of my favorites. What can I say, it’s crazy, it’s party.
Israel (Noa Kirel – Unicorn) – It’s a great, well-produced song and Noa is a very talented artist. I think it may be one of the dark horses of this year’s comp.
Moldova (Pasha Parfeni – Soarele şi Luna) – I love those ethnic bops. Pasha is a great performer and it sounds absolutely amazing live.
Netherlands (Mia Nicolai & Dion Cooper – Burning Daylight) – It’s hard for me to judge it, as I don’t fancy songs like that. I’m not a fan, but good luck to them.
Sweden (Loreen – Tattoo) – In my opinion it’s a bit overrated entry. And before anybody comes at me, I like the song and I know it’s really good. It’s just that it’s absolutely what I expect from Sweden and Loren at Eurovision and I prefer to be surprised. But Loreen is amazing performer and I don’t think that this song would work so well if anybody else without such charisma tried to sing it.
Switzerland (Remo Forrer – Watergun) – A great anti-war ballad. I’m not a fan of ballads, but I think it’s a good one. With great staging, he can do well and I’m sure juries will appreciate it (if he qualifies that is).
My ideal qualifiers (in no particular order): Croatia, Latvia, Malta, Norway, Serbia, Czech Republic, Finland, Israel, Moldova, Sweden

the best host countries I've seen since I started to watch in 2006 have been finland 2007, denmark 2014, sweden 2016, and the netherlands 2021
reasons being: no awkward dead moments, the show kept running, the hosts were good and genuinely funny (jaana and mikko were so good, there's a reason they were voted as the best hosts in the first decade of 2000's)
in contrast the most awkward and second-hand embarrassment inducing host country was portugal. that was just so cringe, and not even funny cringe like ukraine the year before
@ ebu: now that you finally kicked russia out, do israel next! and then azerbaijan!
hard rock hallelujah and dancing lasha tumbai are the all-time best entries. you can fight me but you will lose
dancing lasha tumbai should've won
finnish broadcaster yle always subtitles every entry (unless it's in finnish or completely untranslatable like dancing lasha tumbai) and the result is often hilarious
I pity countries that don't have this delight (everyone else afaik)
finnish jury needs to stop simping sweden. sweden-senpai will never notice us! just stop already! you're embarrassing!
sweden takes itself too seriously every year and hates fun. just send an old man with a silly schlager, it won't kill you!
the biggest crime anyone can commit in eurovision is being boring. sweden commits this crime consistently. unfortunately finland does too very often
finland needs to send hevisaurus some year
alvan & ahez was underrated
more countries need to send entries in local minority languages. europe has so many beautiful languages that deserve more recognition
less flashing lights and woozy effects all around. make eurovision safe for people with epilepsy and motion sickness
I miss petra and måns every year. they were hilarious. nothing will ever top love love peace peace
as great as the 2021 esc was, I wish they could've had the 2020 contest simply so iceland could've won
that moment in 2021 when the top4 was italy, ukraine, iceland, and finland, everything was right in the world and I wish the night had stopped there
italy and ukraine have had the most consistently good and memorable performances
saara aalto deserved better
daði og gagnamagnið deserved better
never have americans in the interval show. justin timberlake wasn't good, and madonna was worse. we don't want them. they don't get the eurovision camp aesthetic. they take themselves too seriously
in contrast, mika was phenomenal
we need more obviously queer performances. this is eurovision, i.e. the gay olympics. bring out the gay more!
I will add stuff if I realize I've forgotten something
