Rain poured relentlessly outside as Keigo trudged wearily back to the shared apartment he called home. Shivering slightly from the chill that clung to his damp clothes, he slipped through the door, eager to find solace in the comfort of his own space. However, as he stepped inside, he couldn't help but notice the piercing gaze of Touya, his roommate and secret lover, who sat perched on the couch, his turquoise eyes gleaming with curiosity.
Suppressing a nervous smile, Keigo attempted to conceal something concealed under his jacket, the source of his clandestine mission to the bathroom. It was a task he was determined to complete with utmost secrecy, fearing Dabi's inquisitive nature and penchant for uncovering hidden truths. As he made his way past, he hoped against hope that his lover wouldn't detect the concealed object and unravel the surprise he had in store. "It's a little bit rainy today, isn't it?"
"Seriously? A weather talk? That's a new low for you," Dabi muttered, giving Hawks a disapproving look with a raised eyebrow. "As a spy, you can't seem to act natural whatsoever."
"Hey, Dabi," Hawks called out, his voice betraying a hint of urgency, as he maneuvered swiftly towards the bathroom. "How was your day?"
"It was all good until you showed up, acting so strangely," he said, his frown deepening as he scrutinized Keigo from head to toe. "Something feels off."
Meanwhile, Hawks skillfully locked the bathroom door behind him, a mischievous glimmer in his eyes. He couldn't let his guard down for even a moment, as he aimed to conceal his secret mission from prying eyes. With a quick glance around, he breathed a sigh of relief, assuring himself that the coast was clear.
As water droplets cascaded from his dampened clothes onto the bathroom tiles, Hawks knew he had to act swiftly. Unveiling a little, soaked kitten from beneath his jacket, he gazed at the animal with a mixture of excitement and nervousness. "It's fine, little one. Let's dry you up."
Touya wasn't as clueless as Keigo, though he could have his moments. He let out an irritated sigh and stood up from the couch, trailing behind Keigo as he headed to the bathroom. There, he listened for a moment, furrowing his brows. "Oi! Are you communicating with your clothes now?!" Touya attempted to open the door but found it locked. "What's gotten into you today?" he growled, banging on the door.
Startled by Dabi's unexpected attempt to breach his privacy, Keigo froze, his heart pounding in his chest. He frantically tried to compose himself, realizing that his attempts at secrecy had been abruptly shattered. Taking a deep breath to regain his composure, he spoke with a mixture of exasperation and pleading. "Wait! Just a minute, Dabi!" Keigo's voice wavered slightly, the urgency evident in his tone. "I... I need a moment, can you please grant me that? Just go to the living room." Frustration laced his words, a tinge of irritation creeping into his voice. The lack of privacy within the confines of their shared abode was beginning to grate on his nerves.
"Oh, that wasn't suspicious at all," Touya muttered with another annoyed sigh. Turning around, he took a few steps away. Touya decided to wait nearby, curious to see what was going on.
With the kitten now comfortably dried and wrapped in a soft towel, Hawks took a moment to collect himself, stealing a quick glance at his reflection in the bathroom mirror. Assured that he appeared composed, he cautiously opened the door and stepped out, only to be startled by Dabi's unexpected presence nearby. Hawks nearly jumped, his surprise evident in his widened eyes and a faint blush tinting his cheeks. He cleared his throat, attempting to regain his composure despite the sudden encounter. "I asked you to wait in the living room, didn't I?" Hawks' voice carried a mix of mild exasperation and lighthearted reproach, his gaze meeting Dabi's with a hint of playful annoyance.
"And when did I start listening to you?" Dabi asked, tilting his head with a frown and arms crossed over his chest. "So? What got your feathers all so ruffled?"
Letting out a soft sigh, Keigo's exasperation melted away as he shifted his focus to the adorable bundle in his hands. Gingerly, he unwrapped a portion of the towel, revealing a tiny, trembling kitten nestled within. Its wide eyes and delicate form tugged at his heartstrings, reminding him of the vulnerability and innocence contained within such a small creature. "They did," Keigo whispered, his voice filled with a mixture of tenderness and awe.
"A cat? Seriously?," Dabi asked with a scoff. "That's the reason you act like a weirdo? Is it some kind of birds of prey thing? Does your bird brain compel you to bring stuff home?"
A frown creased Hawks' features in response to Dabi's words, his voice carrying a touch of hurt. "You can be so cruel sometimes, you know that?" Keigo's tone held a hint of frustration and weariness, his patience worn thin by the constant jabs and nicknames. He was tired of the playful mockery. "Stop calling me names, Mr. Patchwork," he muttered, his voice laced with a mix of annoyance and a plea for understanding. Turning away, Keigo made his way to the living room, his wings flicking slightly to shed the lingering water droplets.
"Mr. Patchwork, how original," Dabi rolled his eyes, following him. "You wiped that thing, but you are still dripping wet. You seriously have a bird brain."
After these words Dabi went to find a towel, then he came back and started to pat Keigo's wings dry.
"Thank you," Keigo replied with a tiny smile, his attention focused completely on the tiny cat. "We are keeping them, Dabs."
"No fucking way," Dabi said, simply putting the towel on Keigo's head to dry his hair. "One big annoying bird is enough. We don't need any four legged pet in here."
"Daaabs!" Keigo's heart ached as he longed for Dabi's agreement to keep the precious feline. With a hint of desperation in his voice, he began to lay out his heartfelt arguments. "Dabi, please," Keigo implored, his tone tinged with vulnerability. "This kitten needs us. It needs a loving home, and we can provide that. We have the means to take care of it, and I've seen how gentle and caring you can be. Just imagine the joy it will bring to our lives. We can create a space filled with warmth and compassion, not just for each other, but for this little life that has found its way into our path."
Dabi groaned, getting more and more pissed with Keigo's behavior. "Did you fly into a window recently or something? How do you imagine this?” He asked, ruffling Keigo's hair a bit too hard. "Sometimes we are out for days, you think they will be able to be alone for so long?"
"Dabi, I understand your worries, but we don't have to do this alone. We have friends who would be more than willing to lend a helping hand," Keigo proposed, his voice gentle yet resolute. "We can ask them to babysit the cat when needed, ensuring that we have the flexibility to balance our responsibilities and still provide a loving home for this little one."
Dabi laughed in a nasty way. "Oh! Yeah, I can see you walking up to my old man and being like, 'Endeavor-san... Please, take care of my kitten today' or you'll pass them to that weird rabbit chick. How pathetic," he took away the towel, making sure Keigo was completely dry. "Twice and Toga would probably be eager to take care of the kitten but I wouldn't trust them with such a small creature."
"Endeavour as a babysitter for a little kitten? Now that's an interesting image," Hawks quipped, a playful glint in his mismatched eyes. "Well, your vampire-like friend might surprise us," Keigo replied, a touch of lightheartedness in his voice.
"Not gonna happen," Dabi shook his head. "Why do you even want to keep them?"
Keigo settled himself on the couch, gently placing the little kitten by his side. He turned his gaze towards Dabi, his expression earnest and full of hope. "Dabi, please," Keigo implored, his voice laced with sincerity. "Look at this little one. Look at how it trusts us, how it seeks our care and affection. I can see the love in your eyes when you look at it, too. We can be its family, its guardians, its source of warmth and comfort."
"Honestly, once I had the same look. I looked at my parents expecting a lot and where it led me," Touya shrugged again, crossing arms over his chest. "It's just a cat, Keigo. It doesn't care about us. All it wants is food and warmth to not die. I bet it'll scratch me as soon as I get closer," Touya summed up, and to prove his point, he walked closer to the kitten and offered it his hand.
As the little kitten continued to tremble, its innate curiosity overcame its fear. It tentatively reached out, sniffing at Touya's hand with a delicate twitch of its tiny nose. Sensing the warmth emanating from him, the kitten found solace in his touch. With hesitant steps, it mustered the courage to climb onto Touya's palm, its small body curling up, seeking comfort and security.
This was so sweet and unexpected! Dabi huffed with a deep frown, trying his best to not show how he really felt about that.
Carefully, he picked the kitten up and put his other hand over them to warm them up more effectively.
His eyes moved to Keigo who was looking at him with a stupid grin and sparkles in his eyes. "What? They are still not staying here. You can nurse them to good health and find them a home. Who wouldn't adopt a kitten from Japan's number two hero?" Dabi mocked him a little. "I really have enough of one chicken making a mess here, I don't need a kitten in this mess as well."
As the little kitten nestled into Dabi's palm, its trembling form gradually subsided, finding comfort in the warmth and security offered by his touch. It let out a feeble attempt at a meow, the sound resembling more of a tiny squeak, as it expressed its contentment.
Keigo's gaze turned earnest as he locked eyes with Dabi, a silent plea reflecting in his expression. "Dabi, look at them," Keigo implored, his voice filled with a mix of conviction and tenderness. "They have already found a place in their heart for you. Can you deny them the love and care they deserve? They've chosen us, and it's our responsibility to provide them with a safe and loving home."
"I had a pretty good example that I indeed can deny them the love and care they deserve," he chuckled dryly, petting the kitten on the head with his thumb. "Did they really pick you or you just found it and snatched it from the streets?"
Hawks' lips curled into a gentle smile, his heart warmed by the sight of the tiny bundle of fluff in Dabi's palm. "I saw this little one almost drowning in a puddle," he recounted softly, his voice tinged with a mix of compassion and determination. "They were so small, and with the heavy rain today, I couldn't bear to leave them to fend for themselves. As a pro hero, it's my duty to save lives, whether they be humans or animals," Keigo continued, his eyes shining with sincerity. "This little kitten needed someone to lend a helping hand, and I couldn't ignore their plea for help. They needed a chance at life, and I couldn't turn away."
"God, you make me sick with all the hero talk. 'I saved it from drowning' wasn't enough? I didn't need this whole speech they teached you in school or something," Touya said with a disgusted grimace, still stroking the kitten's head. "They can stay until they're better. After that, you'll find them home."
____________
As the days passed, Keigo couldn't help but smile in quiet contentment, observing Dabi's interactions with the little feline. He cherished the moments they spent together, watching as their bond grew stronger with each passing day.
However, as time went on, Keigo's busy schedule began to catch up with him once again. Overworking himself had become an all-too-familiar routine, and one morning, he woke up to find that he had overslept. Panic set in when he realized that it was already half past 8am, and he hurriedly got out of bed, determined to get ready for the day.
His heart skipped a beat as he scanned the room, his eyes searching for the little kitten. But to his immense surprise, the little feline was nowhere to be found. His heart sank, worry gnawing at his thoughts as he wondered where the kitten could have gone. Had he gotten out of the room somehow? Did he need help?
Dabi slept peacefully until he heard Keigo running around like a headless chicken. He was laying on his belly with arms crossed under his head, but soon Keigo's thrashing around pissed him off. "Did you fucking lost your head or something?! Get to bed or go to your fucking job and let me sleep!” He groaned not even raising his head.
"Kitty! He's gone! Move your ass and help me look for him!"
Dabi just raised his head and there was the kitten, sleeping quietly on his pillow in his arms. "Happy now? Can you be quiet now?"
Relief washed over Keigo as he discovered the little kitten snuggled comfortably with Dabi. His initial shock quickly gave way to a mixture of exasperation and affection. He scolded Dabi, "My God, don't do that again!" Keigo chided, but a soft smile softened his reprimand. He couldn't help but feel grateful that the kitten was safe and sound, finding comfort in Dabi's presence.
Sitting on the edge of the bed, Keigo observed the endearing scene before him. The kitten yawned, its tiny eyes blinking open. In response, the little feline snuggled even closer to Dabi, seeking warmth and affection.
Keigo's heart swelled with tenderness as he watched the bond between Dabi and the kitten. It was clear that they had grown fond of each other, and he couldn't help but feel a sense of gratitude for this newfound addition to their home. As he reached out to gently stroke the kitten's soft fur, he couldn't help but marvel at how this little creature had brought even more warmth and love into their lives. "Today I'll speak with one girl who is interested in taking him home."
"Cool. You gotta tell her the offer isn't up to anymore," Dabi shrugged and nuzzled his nose against the kitten's head. "Sucks to be her, but he isn't going anywhere."
Keigo's frown deepened as he rose from the bed, his voice tinged with a mix of frustration and disappointment. "Wait a second. You were the one who didn't want to deal with the cat," he pointed out, his annoyance evident in his tone. "I've already made all the arrangements, man, and the girl from the other city is coming to pick him up."
"I don't care, I am not giving him away. I can even scare her off if needed," Touya summed up. "He's staying with us."
Keigo's voice carried a mix of confusion and frustration as he confronted Dabi about his change of heart. "Why did you change your mind, huh?" he asked, his tone tinged with exasperation. "You were so adamant that we didn't need a cat, that he couldn't stay with us. And now, you don't want to give him away?"
"No," Dabi said, simply hugging the kitten. "I'll burn anyone who will try to take my boy away, even you, chicken brain," Dabi warned and like nothing would ever happen he got comfortable and attempted to get some more sleep.
"So he's your boy already, huh? Oh, Touya, you're such a softie."
"I am a softie and you are late. Get the fuck out."
As Keigo smiled to himself, he couldn't help but feel a sense of warmth and contentment in his heart. Before leaving the room, he leaned down and planted a soft kiss on Dabi's cheek, the gesture filled with affection and appreciation. "My little softie," he teased gently, a playful glint in his eyes.
With a parting glance at the adorable scene before him, Keigo left the apartment, giving Dabi some space to think about their decision.
The kitten, seemingly awakened by the gentle exchange, let out another adorable yawn before stretching its tiny body. It looked up at Dabi with its innocent eyes, seemingly unfazed by the potential changes in its living situation. Playfully, it tapped Dabi's nose with its little paw, as if to say, "Hey, I'm here, and I love you too!"
Dabi hummed and opened one eye. "Oh? Are you hungry, little one? Are you?" He asked, nuzzling his nose against the kitten's head and kissing it.
With newfound energy, the kitten hopped off the bed, its tiny form brimming with friskiness and curiosity. It trotted towards the kitchen through the open door, meowing occasionally.
A little reluctantly, Dabi got up from bed and followed the little kitten to the kitchen. There, he grabbed him and lifted him onto the counter to feed him. "We need to give you a name. You can't be a kitten all the time."
The kitty meowed loudly, instantly rubbing his chin over Dabi's palm, purring.
He put some of the cat food into a bowl. "Eat up, little buddy.'
Kitty sat by the bowl and quickly finished his meal, purring.
Dabi looked at kitten and booped his little nose. "How about Nori? Do you like it?"
The kitty purred loudly, trying his best to climb Dabi's shoulder.
"I'll take it as a yes," Touya simply picked the kitten up and helped him on his shoulder. "Comfortable?"
As the tiny kitten settled comfortably on Dabi's shoulder, he seemed to find a sense of security and peace. He curled up into a ball, content in his new perch, and within moments, his little body relaxed into slumber. The rhythmic rise and fall of his breath against Dabi's neck created a soothing melody, and the soft purring sound further affirmed his trust and affection for his human companion.
Dabi smiled, at least now he could go back to sleep, so that's exactly what he did.
He returned to the bedroom and carefully laid back down, taking Keigo’s pillow to rest his head on.

Here's some angst I found in my WIP pile, no triggers but hurt/no comfort
Post-war Dabi and Hawks are stuck together for some reason.
"Fuck Touya just stop, stop. I'm so fucking tired of the screaming and the fighting. We're getting nowhere and it's just exhausting," Hawks pleads, "We're here and we're not gonna get out of here any  time soon so how about we just pretend that you still love me so we can both get through this shitty fucking night."
"Pretend I still love you?," Touya snarled, "When did I fucking stop!? You're the one that broke it off with me."
"I didn't want this fucking life but what am I suppose to do?," Hawks asks with tears in his voice," I don't have passion towards anything and people expect me to be a hero."
"No one expects shit from you, not even me. All I wanted was an honest fucking relationship and you kept getting in your own way. So let's pretend you actually loved me too," Touya throws back at him, "Do you think it was easy seeing how you faked your entire personality with everyone you met? Trying to figure out if you were lying to them or me? I knew from the very fucking being that I would never be the most important thing in your life , I'd never be as important to you as you are to me but I still couldn't convince myself to stop."
Tears stream down his face as he chokes out the next part, "And now you call me up anytime you're lonely and drag me right back down to the hopeless piece of shit that will never have the self respect to stop loving you."
"I don't call you because I'm lonely I call you because I'm not strong enough to pretend that you aren't my everything anymore, I'm not strong enough to lie to myself that what we had was just a fling and you won't be the only person consuming my heart till I die, " Hawks admits wrapping his arms around himself, "I'm sorry that I made it seem like you weren't important because I'd let the entire fucking world burn if it meant I could have you and that scares the shit out of me. please don't ever fucking doubt that you will always be the most important thing in my life."

My dabihawks New Years fic is up!
"Another Chance For Us To Get It Right"
Touya couldn’t hold back a small smirk at the dumbfounded look on the hero’s face.
“Hi,” he said in his best carefree voice, and even the sound of his voice seemed to throw Hawks off a bit.
He cleared his throat and finally mustered up a small smile of his own.
“Hi,” he said back, oddly quiet considering who was talking.
Shouto huffed, and both men turned to face him.
“I am sorry, but I need to get going if I’m gonna make my meeting," Shouto said pointedly.
or
Two years after the war ended Touya asks Hawks if he'd be up to meeting him again, but an unexptected blizzard forces them to spend more time together than first planned.
Post war, enemies to strangers to friends to lovers, Hawks is a bit of a mess, Shouto is an annoying little brother, snowed in trope, fluff and angst with a happy ending!

that one Rihanna song
(my first attempt at writing a mini fic/drabble on here! Hope y'all enjoy <3)
Summary: You can stay under my umbrella.
Tags: DabiHawks fluff, Swearing, some Geten slander lol
Word Count: 1,246 words
It’s raining. Dabi hates the rain…at least…he does now. When he was a kid, the rain didn’t always bother him. It felt soothing, and it made his Quirk easier to use with the water pouring over the subtle burns on his skin. Now, though…the rain is dangerous…at least for the next twenty-four hours after he’s replaced his staples…which is the case today. He curses under his breath as he stands under the overhang facing the courtyard. The one part of the Gunga Mountain Villa that wasn’t connected to the main building was where he needed to be…soon. Normally, he wouldn’t care that he was gonna be late…but this was his Regiment meeting…and if Geten started without him…who knows what the fuck he would say. Dabi chews on his bottom lip, staring at the downpour, crossing his arms over his chest and subtly tapping his foot. If he walks out there…he might not make it to the meeting and could be spending the night in the infirmary…which would so not help the fact that Geten was trying to make him look weak every chance he got. If he missed the meeting, the exact same thing would happen…Geten would shit-talk him and go on his extremist rant. The rain doesn’t look like it’s stopping anytime soon either. Dabi inhales sharply, eyebrows furrowing…he can’t make up his mind, and he simply stares.
“Dabi?”
The voice startles him, and he twitches, unmoving. He thought the stupid bird would’ve left by now. He had his debrief with Twice this morning, and their next rendezvous wasn’t for a few more days. Dabi remains silent, but Hawks approaches him, stopping beside him and following his gaze.
“Sure is peaceful up here with the rain and all, huh? I could take it or leave it, though. Don’t fly as well in this kinda weather,” Hawks shrugs, laughing, as if trying to get some sort of reaction. Dabi doesn’t flinch but shuffles uncomfortably. Hawks recognizes in an instant that he’s hiding something. His eyes scan the villain, calculating but not cold. His pupils soften in his golden irises when he catches the sheen of the staples…new staples.
“You can’t really go out there either…can you?” Hawks mutters, just loud enough for Dabi to hear. The villain stiffens and swallows, keeping his eyes forward, trained on the roof of the enormous training facility hidden at the edge of the forest. Hawks puts two and two together in his brain, cocking his head in a very bird-like manner before looking at his watch.
“Isn’t your meeting in like…five minutes?”
Dabi blinks, wondering why the stupid Pro Hero would remember something as frivolous as his schedule. He only mentioned it in passing a couple weeks ago when they moved their training up in the day-to-day schedule. Maybe he should stop being so loose-lipped around him. After all, he still didn’t really trust Hawks. The Pro’s nose twitches; he’s obviously becoming increasingly annoyed at being ignored.
FWISH!
Suddenly, a shadow falls over Dabi, and he looks to see that Hawks’ feathers have diverted to his left wing, making it broader and longer; he’s raised it up in a curve over Dabi’s head, like an outstretched umbrella. Hawks takes off his headphones and slips them into one of his many jacket pockets.
“C’mon. I’ll walk you over there,” He beams, flashing that perfect Hollywood-esque set of teeth in a genuine smile. Dabi glares down at him. Was this pity? A form of control? Whatever it was, it made Dabi…feel things…he wasn’t sure what to call them…positive or negative. It made his emotions twist in his chest…emotions that he’s been trying oh so very hard to hide in front of his comrades. This facade that he’s built up to hide his true identity…surely this HPSC pawn isn’t cracking it?
“I know how much you hate the ice bastard, so the last thing you wanna do is be late, yeah?” Hawks grins, eyes practically glowing behind his golden visor. Dabi bites his tongue, mind swirling. Hawks is exactly right…but he’ll never say it to his face. Dabi takes a deep breath, looking down at his muddy black boots.
“Not a word of this…to anyone. Got it?” Dabi snaps under his breath, his voice a little shaky.
‘Why is it shaky?’
“You have my word,” Hawks chuckles, motioning for Dabi to make the first move. Dabi freezes. What if this was all a ploy for Hawks to leave him stranded in the rain? The Pro can’t be that stupid…he’d be fried chicken in a snap if he did that. Still…it’s so hard to trust…well…anyone.
Dabi closes his eyes and takes a step forward…only for Hawks to step forward in synchrony. Something deep inside him seems to untangle, and a near-silent breath of relief falls from Dabi’s lips. Hawks’ smile seems to widen as they walk side by side, and he looks up at the sky as the rain starts to soak his hair, matting the fur on his jacket. Dabi raises an eyebrow.
“You could shield yourself, too, y’know,” He scoffs, but Hawks shrugs.
“I don’t mind it. Besides. More coverage for you,” He sighs, closing his eyes as he stares at the clouds, almost like he’s reminiscing. Their boots splash on the muddy trail as they make their way down the path to the off-site training building.
“Why’d you stay?” Dabi blurts, partially from paranoia and partially from pure curiosity. Hawks huffs.
“Knew it was gonna downpour. Planned on waiting until it clears up this evening. Should be clear skies by the time your session ends,” He remarks. “Like I said…don’t fly as well in the rain.”
Dabi sniffs, arms pinned tightly to his body, trying to make himself as small as he can under the protection of Hawks’ wing. He hates how vulnerable he feels. If Hawks ever brings this up again, he’ll have to make sure he knows his place. Then again…the Pro Hero is just as vulnerable, particularly to the elements. Some of his scraggly blonde hair is plastered to his forehead, and his jacket sags against his body. Though it’s a small gesture, in some way, he’s making a sacrifice for Dabi…and Touya almost gasps when he realizes it. He can’t remember the last time that happened…even on a small scale. It was…it must’ve been before the accident…if at all. Dabi’s throat suddenly feels tighter, and he swallows as the subtle sting beneath his eyes threatens to creep up. He can’t cry over this. That would be the end of it. The end of everything. He pushes it down, keeping his breathing even, suffocating his emotions until the sting disappears entirely. He won’t let the facade crumble…especially not because of some Pro…more specifically, some Pro who idolizes his father.
Within a blink, they’ve reached the bottom of the hill, and there’s an overhang just outside. Dabi leers up at one of Skeptic’s security cameras that pivots to face them, and he promptly flicks it off. Hawks chuckles at the gesture and stops once they’re sheltered from the rain. Promptly, Hawks lifts his wing to the side, careful to prevent any water from splashing off his feathers and landing on Dabi.
“Well. You’ve got thirty seconds to get through that door. Shouldn’t be too hard on your own,” Hawks winks playfully, and Dabi’s eyes narrow. In the back of his mind, he almost says thank you, but, instead, he just turns on his heel and walks to the door.
END
P.S. Toga and Twice totally saw them from one of the Villa windows and asked Dabi all about it.

bellow the fire into my deadened lungs
chapter 5 excerpt — dabihawks grieving read full story here
It is the day of his court hearing that Todoroki Touya dies, for the second time.
Keigo hears it live on the television at a nothing diner Eraserhead and All Might had said they would pick him up from. They were going to allow Keigo to sit in the same car as Touya on the way to the courthouse, planning to follow in a separate car.
“BREAKING NEWS: TODOROKI TOUYA, KNOWN AS ‘DABI’, DIES IN VEHICULAR EXPLOSION WHILE BEING TRANSPORTED TO HIS COURT HEARING!”
The only thing Keigo can hear through the ringing in his ears is the forgotten five-year-old tucked away at the back of his mind screaming, ‘No! No! NO!’
The only thing Keigo could feel through blizzard winds whipping across his soaring wings was the home within his heart Touya had built with scarred preening hands collapsing and compressing until he could no longer breathe.
And when he gasps to a landing halt, the only thing Keigo can see through thick smoke and scrap metal with his quirk-enhanced vision is the crude and grotesquely torn-off ring finger Keigo had spent countless hours tracing with his lips, imagining how it’d look enclosed by a gold band with, ‘forever,’ engraved inside.
“Touya!”
He’s pulled back before he can run into the flames. All Might holds Keigo with every ounce of strength he no longer has and Eraserhead is using his quirk to soften sharpened feathers that cut into All Might’s straining arms. They’re both talking, speaking to Keigo, warning him — they won’t stop talking —
‘Don’t they understand that Touya needs me, that I need to save him?’
It feels like minutes, hours, seconds, days, before red and orange fire is hosed down completely, and there is no trace of Touya’s body.
“But — I don’t…”
A member of the forensic team is bending down to bag Touya’s left ring finger when Keigo faintly realizes he’s stopped struggling against All Might.
The five-year-old child Keigo has hidden for so long comes out, “He’s fireproof?”
(Keigo is in too much shock to see the look Shouta gives Yagi — the one that says, ‘don’t say a word.’)
“The damage the fire had done to his body activated the chip inside his wrist to explode. He died almost instantly if that eases your pain any,” Eraserhead tells Keigo.
The world drops below his feet, not in the manner of when Keigo jumps off buildings to welcome blue skies, but in the manner of gravity plummeting those not gifted with flight to splatter them across concrete.
Keigo pushes All Might off him with a rough shove and flies to his safehouse, to his home — their home.
And he screams.
Every feather of his wings sharpen and fly out his back. Dozens of paper-thin cuts sting his cheeks, his neck, and cut through the arms and thighs of his flight suit. The shatter of broken pots and pierced glass means nothing to him. The clatter and bang of splintered wood and stabbed walls do not swallow the horrible shriek of his grieving wails.
He’s dropped to his knees and he’s screaming, his still screaming, and he does not stop until his vocal cords are torn and swollen shut, until the floorboards are pounded through and clutched between a paralyzed stress-grip, until the fibers of his living room rug are stuck wetly to his nose, until the only noise he can hoarse out are the croons Touya had heard only a handful of times in his short, unlived life.
Keigo stays like that for hours, in the fetal position that five-year-old child had learned to be his only comfort in a life like his. He croons to himself the way Touya had loved so much until his body was too tired to do anything else but drift Keigo away to moonlit-metal and blue dreams.

I want you; you have me

________
When the HPSC told Hawks to infiltrate the League of Villains, he didn’t expect it to be easy per say, but he didn’t think his emotions would play such a huge role in the outcome of the mission. He didn’t expect to like the villains, or have fun with them, or relate to them in any way. He also didn’t expect to develop feelings for Dabi, of all people.
And Hawks, for the first time in years, found himself wanting something so badly that it made him ache. He wasn’t allowed to want anything, he wasn’t raised to be selfish- to want something when he had everything he could ever ask for. He had a home, a bed to sleep in, a working refrigerator with food to cook and plates to use. He had warm clothes and blankets and pillows. He was a hero, successful, and happy with his life.
But if all of that was true, why did he find himself staring up at his bedroom ceiling in the middle of the night with a pain in his chest that only increased the longer he was alone? Why did he long for the warm touch of skin on his, and why did he picture Dabi being the one to touch him?
Hawks wanted him, but he couldn’t have him.
But he couldn’t stop himself from seeking out blue eyes, couldn’t help but lean into the slightest of touches from quirk warmed palms, couldn’t help the warmth blossoming in his chest every day he was around him.
So, when Dabi leaned in and kissed him for the first time, Hawks let himself fill his wanting with the desperate move of his lips along half pink half purple skin that was pressing against his own.
“Birdy, shh.” The words were whispered into his mouth; Dabi had moved to cup his face within his warm palms, rubbing his thumbs across red cheeks and watering eyes. Hawks had unknowingly been letting out strained noises and whimpers as he tried to claim Dabi’s mouth as quickly as he could because he had never done anything like this, had never felt such a wanting before, had never let himself indulge in any of the fantasies he had come up with; he knew this would be his only chance to make the feeling in his chest grow and grow and feel whole.
“Slow down. We got time, little bird.” Dabi voice was soft, low, raspy- it sent a shiver down his spine and through his wings. Between words, the man had pressed deep pressured pecks onto Hawks’ lips, slow and measured and thought out.
“Want you.” He whispered back, curling one hand into black strands and the other into the material of Dabi’s shirt. The words felt like sin coming from his lips, a confession that would ruin him.
“You have me.” The response burned into his chest, through his skin, his ribs, into his heart, and down to his stomach. The clench of anguish that followed made Hawks curl inwards, head dipping slightly before it was stopped by the hands caressing his cheeks.
“Can I have you?” The first of his tears fell.
Yes, you can have me. Please have me.
The words wouldn’t come, so Hawks let his shining, red rimmed, teary eyes meet the bright blue, calm, loving eyes of his most precious thing, the thing he couldn’t ever truly have, and he let his eyes close, shutting the image away from him.
His lips trembled, but he pressed them against Dabi’s, telling him yes, have me, have me, have me.
He had never wanted anything more than to be wanted.

'' you kissed me first. '' '' i definitely didn't. '' and '' can we do it again? '' with dabihawks
It’s a Tattoo Artist/Flower Shop AU! No quirks! No bad stuff! Woohoo!
Also I never got to include this detail in the writing but imagine Hawks’ wings are a large back piece thank you
🌻🌻🌻
Dabi glanced at the clock as he pinned a ribbon on one of the last boutonnières for this weekend’s wedding. The clock was right over the door and said it was 10 minutes until closing.
And of course the door opened. “Hey, we’re about to close—“ Dabi began, but paused upon seeing a familiar face walk in.
“Heyo. My shop just closed up and I wanted to see how your newest piece was healing up.”
Dabi’s most recent tattoo artist walked in through the door. The blonde one who licked his lips while he concentrated on line work. The hot one who laughed at his dry jokes. A pleasant surprise in some aspects, sure— especially him remembering where Dabi works— but he couldn’t have come while Dabi was actually willing to talk to customers? “You could’ve just DMed me, you know,” Dabi remarked as he adjusted the angle of the boutonnière’s rosebud.
“That feels so impersonal, dontcha think?” Of course he had some sort of quippy reply.
“You’re lucky I don’t have any customers right now—“
“Who’s to say I’m not also a customer?”
“Really?” Dabi played along, “You got someone to get flowers for?”
The tattoo artist made his way toward Dabi, resting his arms on the counter, “Can’t a guy get some flowers for himself?”
“I guess—“
“Seriously, man, I’ll at least patronize the shop so I’m not loitering,” he smirked, “But I do wanna see the piece.”
Dabi sighed, put the flowers down, and rolled up the sleeve of his sweatshirt so it went above his elbow, “You into looking at peeling skin or something?” Dabi teased.
The guy’s hot. He’s hot as shit. This is a weird request but god damn is the guy hot, so Dabi will at least humor him. His left arm’s tattoos were revealed, including the black work rhododendron under his elbow that was just done a few days ago.
“Wouldn’t you like to know?” They made eye contact and the tattoo artist raised his eyebrows. He’s flirting.
He gestured at Dabi’s arm and asked, “May I?” Seeking permission to touch to inspect further.
“Yeah, uh—“ Dabi is just now realizing he doesn’t know this guy’s name. He contacted the studio with the tattoo request and they gave said request to this guy, and he didn’t bother to ask his name during the session.
“Hawks.”
“Hawks?”
“Everyone calls me that.”
At least he spared Dabi the embarrassment.
Hawks carefully took Dabi’s arm and brushed his fingers across the inked skin… he wasn’t just looking at his own work, was he?
Dabi watched Hawks study him and felt every single stroke of Hawks’ fingers. The tenderness was intimate and sexy. “Hm,” Hawks paused by Dabi’s wrist, grazing his palm with his fingertips, “Do the numerals mean anything?”
Dabi knew which tattoos he was referring to.
VIII XXIII
XII VI
VII I
I VI
They were in a column down his wrist. “They’re uh,” he’s almost sheepish admitting it, “They’re family birthdays. The family that matters, anyway.”
Hawks didn’t stop brushing his skin, “That’s sweet, actually.”
“Yeah?”
Hawks moved his hand further up Dabi’s palm, “Really. It’s subtle and genuinely nice.”
“That’s kind of you to say.”
“Well I wanna be nice to someone so pretty,” Did… did he just wink?
Dabi took a shot in the dark and gently laced his tattooed fingers between Hawks’. “Pretty?” He playfully asked for clarification— or more compliments.
Their eyes met and Dabi could feel the tension in the air like a sudden gust of wind. Hawks wasn’t retracting his hand. “I know we don’t really know each other or anything like that,” Hawks began, going back and forth between looking at Dabi’s eyes and hand, “But I got a confession.”
“Yeah?”
“I thought this would be a better way to get your number instead of combing through the network of clients.”
“Really now?” Dabi smirked.
“Heh, yeah,” Hawks, still holding Dabi’s hand, sheepishly admitted, “You’ve been running through my mind the past few days. You were quite a challenge for me to ink, you know?”
“Was I now?” No artist has ever complained about Dabi during sessions in the past.
“Took a lot for me to focus on the work instead of you,” Hawks flirted.
Dabi smirked again, leaning closer over the counter, “I’m honored.”
It was quiet for a bit as they held the other’s hand and just looked at each other. They were both holding their breath.
Hawks kept glancing at Dabi’s lips.
Was he really going to do this? The signs are all here. They barely know each other, though, as Hawks just said a few moments ago… but that doesn’t necessarily mean this is wrong.
In a flash, their lips were together. They were both leaning over the counter, keeping the sparks flying even as their backs strained.
There’s something so enticing about sharing a passionate kiss with someone you barely know.
There’s something so electrifying about having to climb on furniture to get a better angle-- that’s what Hawks was doing as he maneuvered himself on the counter to be on his knees, gaining some sort of higher ground as he took Dabi’s face in his hands, bringing them together once more with a devilish smirk.
Hands were in hair and gripping to the cotton of t-shirts and hums of pleasure were muffled against the other until Hawks pushed a bit too hard, nearly collapsing into Dabi. Dabi’s got decent reflexes, though, and caught Hawks, hands under his thighs, gripping the denim to keep him secure, and Hawks instinctively wrapped his legs around Dabi’s hips.
“Heh,” Dabi smirked himself, pondering the possibilities in his mind like he was playing a game of chess, “I haven’t even taken you out to dinner.”
“Hey, you kissed me first,” Hawks teased.
“I definitely didn’t,” Dabi teased back, meeting Hawks’ amber eyes.
There was silence for a few seconds. They could feel the heat from each other in the small gap that separated their lips. Hawks broke the tension by shyly asking “Can we do it again?”
“Absolutely.”
Dabi agreed with no hesitation, gripping Hawks’ legs again, making him push into Dabi again, their bodies flush as they continued to kiss… and kiss… and kiss…

Fic idea heavily inspired by the trailer for the engagement dress (but with out the weird hallmark cult vibes)
Rumi and Fuyumi decided to elope and gather all there ppl at some resort and force their best men (best man's? Men's of honor?) To help with alot of the planning. Hawks is kinda burnt out from all his failed dating attempts and Touya is mildly bitter at all the jokes about the oldest sibling probably being the last one to get married if he can ever find someone.
All. the romcom. shenanigans.
They get put in the same room with one bed cause 'oops! They ran out of rooms!'. Touyas jaw drops seeing Keigo coming out of the shower after a run, keigo nearly melts seeing all of Touyas tattoos when they inevitably end up in a jacuzzi. Keigos pretty sure he falls head over heels with the running commenter they have when trying out DJs (yumi get with the fucking times nobody has djs anymore,' Touya turns to the dj, 'and please take offense to that you look like your 40 its time to grow up' 'and what do you plan on having at your wedding since your sooo smart' keigo buts in 'an mp3 set to shuffle' 'THANK YOU!') Ohhh which gets them roped into creating a wedding Playlist, a late night spent huddled together showing eachother songs they find so romantic and loving that's when they lean in for a kiss and Rumi burst in the room with an absolute wedding Emergency and we gotta go now so they don't even get to talk about what mightve happened.
At the reception they're still dancing around eachother and Rumis had enough so she lobs the bouquet directly at Keigos face and they decided fuck it and just kiss.
I want this, I want this so bad and I will not be writing it so please? Anbody?

I accidentally started writing another dabihawks fic earlier lol
bacsially, Touya becomes a pro hero and manages to break top 20 in his first year, he’s doing amazing in every aspect, but then he almost dies in a bygning building after saving the civilians, and has to stop being a hero after barley a year, and has a huge crisis of self, plus he has to deal with the injuries.
While Keigo gets hit with some sort of quirk eraser bullet right before his debut, and while his wings are still there, the feathers etc doesn’t work, so the Commission just throws him out on the streets to fend for himself.
And then they meet and try to figure their shit our ~ together ~ 🌝

Keigo Takami walks through the Costco, happily pushing his cart as he puts the bouquet of fifty white roses next to the birthday cake with “Happy Birthday Touya” written in baby blue frosting. It had been five years since the war ended, and one year since Touya and Keigo eloped together. Keigo worked at an insurance agency (some cushy job the Commission gifted him as compensation for losing his wings completely), and Touya…well…no one wanted to hire an ex-villain with a kill count upwards of thirty…even if now he was just a scrawny, half-blind threat to no one but himself. After years of rehab, surgeries, and therapy, Touya Todoroki was considered a somewhat functioning member of society, but he was essentially a glorified house husband. He stayed at home, writing, cooking, reading, and doing whatever else he could to make the time go faster until his husband got home from work. Touya didn’t really have any friends; he wasn’t allowed to contact any of his former coworkers in the League. So…all he really had were his mother, his siblings, and Keigo. Overall, their life together had developed into a sense of normalcy. Keigo would come home right as Touya was finishing cooking dinner, and he’d ask him how work was while they ate at the table together. Keigo would teasingly ask Touya if he got into any trouble, and Touya would make up some sarcastic half-assed story. Keigo would take Touya’s hand and gingerly slide off his glasses before leading him to the bathroom where they would shower together. Nothing too spicy would happen, other than a few playful caresses, but the steam would fog up the mirror as Keigo made sure the water was warm but not too hot, just how they both liked it. Their hands would lather soap on one another, Keigo touching Touya in a way like he was scared he would break, Touya touching Keigo with deliberate intentionality, like he was memorizing every curve of his body. Touya would always freeze up when he felt the thick scarred tissue on Keigo’s back, but Keigo would bring him back down to Earth, running his hands through his hair and reminding him that he was forgiven. It was a safe and sane routine. It always ended with snuggles in bed and sweet nothings whispered into the ether as they both fell asleep holding one another. Tonight, though, Touya wouldn’t be cooking. Keigo had already ordered takeout from his favorite restaurant and was having it delivered to the house. He was determined to make this birthday count.
Keigo’s eyes light up as he walks to the front door of their house with the cake and flowers in his arms. An Amazon package rests at the base of the steps: Touya’s gift. It was rather simple, but he knew it meant everything to Touya. Ever since he’d recovered, Touya found comfort and solace in the many soft blankets that Keigo brought when they moved in together. Keigo found the perfect combination: a blanket hoodie that Touya could wear around the house. It was the same color as Touya’s cerulean flames he once wielded, before he started taking his prescription medication to quell his Quirk. Keigo hefts the box into his other arm, trying to maneuver everything the best he can; it would be so much easier if he still had his Quirk. Keigo stops at the front door, looking at the Ring camera as he presses the doorbell.
“Touya, it’s me!” He calls into the microphone, and, after a few moments, the door opens. Touya Todoroki stands in the doorway, pale blue eyes cloudy behind the thick, round lenses of his wire-framed glasses as his lips pull into a soft smile. He squints as he looks Keigo up and down, recognizing the shapes in his hands.
“Happy Birthday, my love,” Keigo grins, kissing his husband on the cheek as he walks inside, awkwardly balancing the cumbersome load before laying them all on the kitchen table. He walks into the kitchen, grabbing a vase out of a cabinet before filling it with water and starting to arrange the flowers. Touya shuts the door and slowly shuffles into the kitchen, bloody tears welling up in his eyes.
“Is that for me?" He stammers, cupping a white rose in his hand and feeling the petal with his thumb.
“Mmmhm,” Keigo hums with a smirk as he grabs a knife and slices open the package. “Now close your eyes.”
Touya blinks before shrugging and complying, standing in front of the kitchen table with his hands in his pockets and his eyes closed. Keigo carefully pulls the blanket hoodie free from the box and fluffs it up before he starts putting it on Touya. The white-haired man flinches for half a second before he registers the plush fabric. When Keigo finally gets it over his husband's head, he says:
“Open your eyes.”
Touya fiddles with his arms into the sleeves, and he wraps himself up in the blanket hoodie with a warm smile on his face. “I love it,” He mumbles, burying his face into the fleece.
“I love you ,” Keigo grins, planting a chaste kiss on the tip of Touya’s nose, and a pale rosy blush dusts his cheeks.
“I love you, too,” Touya sniffles, trying not to cry.
“Aw, babe. You love it that much?” Keigo teases, pulling him into a passionate embrace as he nuzzles under his husband’s chin. Touya carefully returns the hug, holding him tightly as his heart pangs. He’d been so lonely all day. His sister had gotten on a video call with the rest of his siblings and their mom to wish him happy birthday, but he wished he could get to see them in person. He understood why he couldn’t…but…it was getting harder to be alone after he spent so much of his life living on the streets. Now…Keigo was home…Keigo was in his arms. He wasn’t alone anymore.
“Thank you,” Touya’s voice comes out as a choked whisper, and Keigo looks up at him with concerned eyes. He knows that tone of voice.
“Hey, hey. What’s the matter?” Keigo croons, cupping the side of Touya’s face and rubbing away a crimson tear. Touya just shakes his head.
“I’m just. Glad you’re home,” He sighs, leaning into his touch and focusing on the sensation.
After eating and showering, Touya and Keigo are snuggled up in bed with one another, Touya swaddled up in his blanket hoodie and boxers while Keigo sports black sweatpants. Keigo is propped up on his elbow, his chin in his hand as he gazes down lovingly at his husband, who is squinting through the dimly lit candles as his eyes struggle to adjust. Even though he can’t see Keigo as clearly as he used to, his flawless image is burned into his brain. Keigo leans down, gently connecting their lips in a soft, intimate kiss, and Touya melts, eyelids fluttering closed as he kisses him back, draping his arms over Keigo’s neck and pulling him closer. They break the kiss, foreheads pressed against each other as their breath hangs in the night air.
“God, you are just…fucking breathtaking, Touya,” Keigo chuckles under his breath as he starts peppering his cheeks with tender, swift kisses. Touya can’t help but dissolve into giggles, playfully trying to push Keigo away and failing miserably. Keigo overpowers him easily, even after years of foregoing HPSC training regimens, but Touya doesn’t mind in the slightest. He lets Keigo pin him down and drag his lips on his skin, treating him with the most gentle grace like he’s made of glass. There was something oddly soothing about how delicately Keigo treated him since getting back together, but Touya didn’t complain. As far as he was concerned, he would be ending the rest of his birthdays until the end of forever with snuggles from Keigo. As the laughter dies down, Touya takes a deep breath.
“Thank you, Kei.”
“For what?” Keigo raises his eyebrow, stopping his amorous barrage, and Touya just smiles.
“For loving me so effortlessly.”
