What about a cute Druig getting baby fever?!?!?
🥺my heart
he’d see you play with the little kids in the village and something just bursts inside him. something primal.
he would slowly drop hints verbally
“you’d make such a great mommy” “you’re so good with the kids”
and hints non verbally by showing you baby clothes and cooing at babies
when you wouldn’t catch onto his hints, one night he tells you that he wants to make you a mommy and the whole night is spent making love
as you both were eternals, there was a chance you couldn’t get pregnant, but you did
with triplets

Thirty minutes. You chuckled to yourself as you looked up at the bar that was displayed on the lower half of the television screen. Your husband lasted thirty minutes before his blue eyes fluttered closed, and soft snores escaped his plush lips after placing his head in your lap.
He let out small whispers of complaints as your leg gently bobbed from using your foot to rock Rory in his bouncy chair. Those complaints quickly subsided as your pinky finger delicately trailed down the bridge of his nose. You had very few praises for Arishem, but Druig was one of them.
Your finger moved from his nose to the small scar he gained in battle on his cheek. Circling the small indent, your lips formed a small smile before you moved your finger over the sparse freckles. "Mommy?" Orla's sleepy voice yawned from the base of the stairs.
"Yes my love?" you whispered, cupping Druig's cheek.
"I'm not tired," she huffed as she picked up the hem of her nightgown and marched over to the arm of the chair. "What are you doing?" she whispered moments later, looking down at her sleeping father.
"Making a map, just in case I forget my favorite spots on your dad's face," you giggled.
Orla cracked a smile and took her pointer finger to run down the bridge of his nose. Her eyes carefully watched Druig's face just in case her small movements woke him. "I like daddy's nose," she told you.
You hummed and raised your hand to touch the tip of her little nose, "I like your nose."
"Does it look like his?" she asked after you moved your hand.
You nodded and cupped her face, "I see so much of him in you, my dear."

...Should I make Druig a dad w/ Katey (that's what Hecate!Eternal goes by, but it's still you ig?) with twin girls when the gang arrives...or is that too much?
Because I already got the names, powers, and personalities picked out: They are 4 in this.
Laoise (Light Manipulator & Solar Magic; very energetic & social butterfly, loves sneak attacks, very hands-on learner; the older twin so she is very close and protective of her baby sister; Nicknames: Little Dove, Our Dawn, Mighty Warrior, Little Light, Our Sun)
Aisling (Dream Prophet & Lunar Magic; more quiet and introverted, loves to hang in her mom's magical library & the Amazon medical hut, go-to lie detector; being the younger twin, she is shy but her big sister always reassures her that she is brave; Nicknames: Little Nightingale, Little Seer, Mini-Librarian, Sweet Thinker, Our Moon)
Both girls have Druig's eyes & dimples & freckles; but Laoise has his brown curls that are lighter with slight highlights, while Aisling's is much darker and slightly wavy. Both like to wear it long and loose, but will wear it up if it is done by their mom and dad.
Both are extremely close to their parents, and see your and Druig's relationship as gold standard, and hope for that in their future. They grew up watching how you two were still separate individuals, but a powerful unit. They witnessed every gentle kiss and tight embrace, every loving gaze and soft smile, all the whispers of love and reassurance, and the overwhelming love and respect you two held for one another.
They don't really ask their Aunt Sephie about love because one time they did, and she got really quiet. She was still smiling, but her eyes became sad, as if she was remembering a certain blue-eyed friend with a silver streak in his hair who would keep her secrets and held her heart.
There are 2 other kids, both you and Druig's biological kids, but you pretty much adopted them. They are both
Damian, it was a name he gave himself. He was born in what is now Pakistan but was sold to Turkish military. He was sold into the army and trained since birth to be a soldier. At 20, he was then killed by order of his commanding officer, and resurrected as a "Div or Dev". He was then given a very strict and formal education: learning many languages and varied skills. His favorite that he picked up was drawing and painting. The only person who treated him with kindness was Shireen, a servant girl who was mistreated due to having survived leprosy as a child. He pitied the little girl for being assigned to a killer, but she always reassured him that she was happy to be his friend. In response to her kindness, he offered to teach her how to read and write. When he learned of her death, he collected her ashes and killed everyone involved in her death before escaping to look for anyone who could revive her. Shireen was born into poverty, she doesn't remember much of her past. She remembers that she was sick for a very long time before recovering. But after she recovered, her mother started to yell for anything. Not only that, but she would beat and ignore her too. She cried at night asking why Allah would curse her with such a hideous child; it wasn't long until she disappeared. Shireen knew her mother was cruel to her, but she still loved her. A man would find her on the streets, and told her that she was sold to them. She was assigned to be the Div's servant. The other servants would tell her horrible stories about him: saying that he would tear her limb from limb, pluck out her eyes, and drink her blood. But she quickly discovered that wasn't true. She also remembered dying, and being lost. But soon she woke up...only...with wings?
Dear God, I have absolutely ZERO self-control.

Forget Me Not
Summary: Melody has a heart to heart with her mother before the twins are born, showing Clío the small insecurity that was festering inside of her.
Tumblr media
WC: 6,556
Warnings: Angst and Fluff
A/N: The twins have arrived! I wanted to give a small one shot of Melody and how she feels about the arrival of her siblings! It's a cute one, I promise :D
Sorry if this is rushed. I just got over the stomach flu this weekend and I got enough motivation to write this out!
--------------------------
Things were back to normal with your family, no threat was evident or any sense of danger was present. Mornings were calm and relaxed, and evenings were filled with the quiet noises of the plains and soft murmurs within the walls. You were glad that your lives were back on track, and you were getting ready for two babies within months.
For one, the farmhouse was going to be beyond cramped with five beings living in it. It was only a matter of time when you knew deep down that you couldn't stay in South Dakota forever. You've lived there for 7 years, holding those memories close to your heart and cherishing all that happened within those walls. Melody was born there, seeing her first steps and milestones, and now you're about to have your twins. When you were 6 months along, you sat down with Druig and had a heart to heart, telling him that you needed to find a bigger space for the five of you to live under one roof. Druig, with some reluctance, agreed. Although you knew it pained him, you also knew that he was thinking that same thing.
"What about a place near the ocean?" Druig asked you as you were sitting together on the front porch, watching the open plains late in the night and listening to the soothing sounds of the nighttime wind gliding through the high grass and wildflowers. You looked over at him, seeing him look dead ahead as you raised an eyebrow at him
"I never took you as an ocean kind of guy," you hummed to him, ruching up to run your fingers in his soft locks as you grinned, "Your poor skin doesn't tolerate the sun, don't you remember? You burn red like a tomato,"
"Be nice," he playfully warned, taking your hand from being in his hair to being laced in his hand, kissing the back of your hand gently.
"But you're a handsome tomato," you cooed back at him, seeing him smirk as you placed your joined hands between the pair of you on the bench. You two were quiet again, you leaning your head over to be on his shoulder. you've had quiet moments together must more recently, ever since Arishem took you away to wipe your memory forever. Druig barely left your side unless he had to go to work, and it didn't matter if you were feeling fantastic. He would always keep an eye on you or whatever you did, and deep down you knew that he was still concerned and worried for you and your health. It didn't matter that you got a clean bill of health from your doctor and your regular check-up appointments were perfect, Druig still kept you close by.
"Let's go to the ocean," You hummed to him, "I think the ocean air will do us some good,"
The next day, after Druig dropped Melody off at school, you both did some investigating and house hunting for something along the west coast. It was a bit tricky to find a place that you could only stay in for a certain amount of years, and you also knew that you weren't going to see the farmhouse. It was going to stay in the family, there was no argument. Neither you nor Druig had the heart to let it go, not just yet when you knew further along down the road you would come back to the house once again that kept you safe and that made you a true family. After a week of not finding anything or coming to dead ends, Druig finally found something.
A decent home up for sale that was tucked away in the woods in the small town of Lincoln City, Oregon.
He went out with Phastos and Kingo to check out the house in person since you were too pregnant to fly out yourself. Druig FaceTimed you and Melody as he gave you a tour of the house, Melody snuggled with you on the couch as you two were watching through the laptop perched on the coffee table. Druig showed you both every room, the massive backyard that had plenty of trees and foliage that would give your house some privacy, and even the walking path that took you to the ocean.
While he was describing each room, you looked down at your daughter, seeing some reluctance there on her face. She was a bit happy at certain things that were seen, mostly with the one bedroom that could be hers that had a massive view of the ocean out the window, but something else seemed…off with her. Melody didn't have to say it, but you could tell she had other things on her mind that was bothering her. It made you worry, so when Druig was done giving you the tour, you nudged Melody gently with her shoulder.
"What do you think, Mel?" You asked her gently, Druig pointing the phone back to his face too as he was looking at Melody. You both could then see it on her face, she looked from her father up to you. It was instant, the softness in her eyes and the tears that were about to pour over. Your face fell, about to say something else when she moved out of your hold and off the couch, running up the stairs without even a second glance back.
You were floored.
"Shit," Druig's voice was heard on the laptop, you looking from the staircase over to him now. You saw the pain on his face too, seeing him rub his hand with his hand as he looked remorseful, "I didn't think it would be this bad."
"Me neither," You hummed, biting your lower lip and looking back at the staircase again. Ever since Druig and the others brought you back from Arishem, Melody too was a bit attached to you. She was never clingy or wanted to be so close to you, not like before. But perhaps it was also the fact you were pregnant and she wasn't going to be an only child anymore, the reality sinking into her, and change was coming whether she was ready or not. You had to wonder if she was going to be okay, and how you were going to fix it.
"I'm gonna talk to her," You said to Druig as you looked back at his image on the screen, "Let me know it goes and I'll talk to you later,"
After you hung up the call, you walked up the stairs lightly with some heaviness in your heart. You noticed her door still open slightly, knowing she remembered the rule on not slamming the doors ever in the house. But you could hear the snuffles from inside her room, having you walk a bit slower now and finally poke your head in. She was under her covers, some of her hair poking out a bit from the blankets.
"Wanna talk about it, honey?" You asked her, slipping into the room and closing the door gently behind you without making a sound. You heard nothing for a few moments, maybe thinking you should give her some time alone to calm down a bit before you two could talk. But she finally spoke from her spot under the blankets.
"Do we have to move?" her voice muffled, you walking over a bit more to sit at the edge of the bed and push some of the blankets down to see her face. She had a few tears, almost looking flushed with her fingers twisted around like a nervous habit. You sighed, knowing that you were going to need to have this talk with her sooner than later. It was a promise you made to yourself, being as open with Melody as possible. Apart from Arishem and all that chaos, you kept Melody in the know. At least she deserved that.
"We do, Petal," You answered her, "We're gonna be very cramped in here pretty soon because of the babies, and we need more space to run around, to play, and to grow. We're are going to keep this house though, we're not going to give it away,"
"You're…you're not?" She asked, a bit confused and she looked at you with a cock in her head.
"Of course not," You reassured Melody, seeing her move up a bit from being in her spot on the bed, "This house used to belong to someone your dad and I knew for a very long time,"
You paused, taking in a small breath from mentioning Ajak. Neither you to Druig brought her up to Melody at all, since it would be hard to do and for Melody to understand. "She took care of us, long before you were born. She helped your dad and me, along with your Aunts and Uncles too. This was her home, and she left it for us to stay in and take care of,"
It was a no-brainer that you were still going to keep the farmhouse, there was no way you were going to sell it. Ajak was everywhere there, her spirit and presence were evident and felt within every moment you had. The house, like Ajak, healed you from the inside out. Druig felt the same, you knew he did, and to give it to some random strangers seemed wrong.
"We're gonna keep this house, Melody," you promised her, "We already talked about it, we can come here in the summertime. Plus, you need to show your little siblings how to play out in the wildflowers and how to climb that big oak tree, remember?"
She went silent from the mention of the siblings, having you once again see a bit of reluctance on her face. You paused, pushing her bangs from her eyes as she was fidgeting with her fingers again. Something else was haunting her mind, making her afraid to say anything to you. It was one of the more heartbreaking things to see: your daughter being afraid to tell you what she was thinking about.
"Melody, you know you can tell us anything, right?" You asked her, seeing her bite her lower lip, "I don't want you to be afraid to tell me whatever is on your mind, okay?"
"You won't be mad?" She asked, sounding so small when she said it.
"I would never be mad at you," You reminded her, "Neither would your dad,"
Melody once again had a moment to think, pressing her fingers tightly together. When she spoke again, a few moments later, you could have sworn you heard heartbreak in her voice.
"Are you going to forget about me when the babies come?"
Your heart almost plummeted to the ground as you saw the sincerity and the genuine fear on her face. Of course, it was something you thought of plenty of times when you talked with the parents of Melody's classmates. When those parents found out you were pregnant, they playfully joked around with you and they meant goodwill with those talks. Having multiple children was a juggling act to them, and they made it sound like a struggle and such a hard task to have two to three kids. You said nothing, but you could tell they were almost silently warning you. Of course, you never paid any attention to them, but to see it on your daughter's face was enough to make you feel worse. The last thing you ever wanted your daughter to feel, was to feel neglected.
"Come here, Petal," You said to her soothingly, opening your arms to her. She moved swiftly, gathering herself in your arms and your lap. Your arms went around her like a shield, feeling her tuck her head into your neck.
"What makes you think we would forget you, ever?" You had to ask her, keeping your voice calm and trying not to show you were wishing to cry from hearing this from your daughter.
"You and Da are gonna help with the babies and not help me," She explained, wiping her nose with the back of her hand as she went on, "What if I need you for something and you're too busy?"
"You think we won't help you?" You asked, seeing her pause in her lap, "Melody, we will always help you when you need it, you know that. And you know we won't ever forget about you, ever."
She said nothing, having you squeeze her a bit tighter now as she leaned into you a bit more, "I'm telling you the truth, Mel. Your dad and I love you too much to neglect you or not help you. You have made our lives so much better, did you know that? Especially your dad, I've never seen your dad so happy before, not until the day you were born."
Melody finally looked up at you, showing you the replica of her father's eyes as she peered into your hazel eyes. You saw the small glimmer of hope in those sapphire orbs.
"Really?" Melody asked you, you grinned back.
"He was so happy when you were born, Mel. All he wanted to do was hold you when you were a baby, constantly wanting to keep you close. There was never one time he would let you go," you explained, feeling her almost melt in your embrace, "You are everything to him, Melody. There is no doubt in my mind that your dad will move the earth for you. Even when these babies come, you are going to come first to him,"
Maybe it was what she needed to hear, that small piece of reassurance and hope that she yearned for was enough for Melody. That tension you almost felt through her melted away and flew out the window. You kissed her hair, feeling her tiny fingers wrap around your hand now as you poured your love into the hug you gave her.
"You will be first to me too, Melody," You said to her gently into her brown hair, "It's because of you I'm a momma, and I love being a momma. You make me better, and don't want you to ever think you will be second or third, okay? I love you beyond words, and I won't ever stop loving you,"
You held her for serval more minutes on her bed, keeping her in your lap and nestled in your hold as you were pressing and engraining your love and affection into your daughter. You never wanted her to feel left out with all these new things happening, let alone becoming a big sister within months. The last thing you ever desired to do was to bring your child self-doubt and negligence. So you made it your mission to soothe her and comfort her.
"There is nothing in this world that would make me forget you, Petal," you reassured her once more, "Your dad and I could never, ever, forget you."
When Druig flew back from Oregon, you drove with Melody to pick him up from the airport. You called Druig after your talk with melody and told him all she said to you, not leaving anything out. Druig too felt bad about how Melody felt out of place, and deep down you knew it pained Druig more in comparison to you. Druig and Melody had their relationship with one another, it was more sacred to the pair of them and you were fine with it. You loved their relationship, it was a sight to see and to bear witness to.
You stood there with Melody holding your hand as you were waiting at the arrival terminal, Melody buzzing on her toes just to see her father again. As much as you wanted to worry about the future and the upcoming arrival of the babies, you wanted to live in this moment with your husband and daughter. It was almost a reminder that you were no longer going to be a group of three within months, and that made you want to savor these months you had left together before you increased.
"DA!" Melody moved before you saw him, releasing your hand and running through the small crowd in the terminal to her father. Druig was grinning, sporting his carry-on duffle bag in one hand as Phastos and Kingo were right behind him with their carry-on bags. You just stood there and watched in awe, Druig dropping his bag with ease as he scooped up Melody in his arms and held her close, her legs wrapping around his waist and his hands around her back. Phastos and Kingo greeted you, giving Druig and Melody their reunion as the three of you waited and watched in affection.
It was like time froze for a split moment, seeing your husband hold your 6-year-old daughter in his arms and a look of pure joy on his face as he held her close. You could see it in the hug he was giving her, he was pushing his love into her. You felt Phastos clasp a hand on your shoulder, you leaning into his embrace as you watched Druig talking to Melody quietly and with a small smile on his lips.
For the rest of the day, Druig and Melody were attached at the hip. Kingo and Phastos decided to stay for the night at the farmhouse before Phastos would go to Chicago and Kingo would go to London. When you arrived at the farmhouse, Druig took Melody out riding to have his own talk with her, knowing enough from what you informed him on the phone. It left you some time to catch up with Phastos and Kingo, the three of you chatting together out on the back porch. You didn't realize how much time as gone by until the sun was slipping away and you heard the familiar sounds of a horse approaching a beaten path. When you looked, you saw Druig coming over to the corral, walking next to the horse with the reins in hand as Melody was on the saddle, holding on tight and looking so happy that it was almost making her glow.
The rest of the night seemed calm, like any other night. You all had dinner together before Druig went off to tuck Melody into bed, giving Phastos the study to sleep in and Kingo the pull-out couch. It might be one of the last times you were going to have people over at the cramped yet content farmhouse. Having your family safe under one roof was enough for you, and as you slipped away to check on your husband and daughter, you were already filled to the brim with happiness and being content with how things were going.
Druig was not in your room, which made you gaze over to Melody's room with a raised eyebrow. walking over quietly and silently, you looking in and freezing. What you saw made you melt and grin so widely. Tucked into the small bed, Druig was fast asleep with Melody in his arms and on his chest, who was also asleep and had one of her favorite books with her fingers. Her head was on his chest, looking so safe and secure while Druig's one hand was along her backside. Seeing the mixture of their hair, the almost replica of their skin tones, and hearing the very similar snoring echoing in the air made you silently cry.
Nothing else mattered to you, only those two souls that clearly loved each other. You could only wish that these last months of your family of three would be sacred and monumental. Druig told her what she needed to hear, showering her with the right affection that she needed to have as a loving and kind 6-year-old girl. He was wrapped around her finger from the moment she came into the world, the very moment she was placed in his arms as a newborn baby.
If he was like this with your daughter, you could only imagine what it would be like when your two babies were going to be here.
-----------------------------------------------------
When you were a week away from your due date, things felt calmer in your household.
Melody was a bit more excited to meet her siblings as the months went by, helping you around the house as your belly was getting a bit bigger and your pace was getting slower. It was like she knew you needed the help, stepping up as the big sister before the babies were even born. It made you proud, already seeing that she was going to be the best big sister. Even Druig was surprised by Melody and her acts of service around the house.
You remembered what it was like on the tail end of a pregnancy, but this time it was amplified because you were carrying two babies. This pregnancy was a little more intense with your body, your energy was spiking very harshly and you were rather uncomfortable 90 percent of the time. Simple tasks were like milestones for you to do, and you were counting down the days until you were ready to give birth. False contractions were coming and going too, giving you and Druig quick scares but nothing too serious. You knew when it was real and when it was just a false alarm.
Makkari and Thena came to visit, needing a break from their trip around the Galaxy on the Domo. When they arrived, Druig wanted to talk to the pair of them about perhaps giving one of them the farmhouse to use throughout the year. Neither Makkari nor Thena had a home to call their own, Makkari was on the Domo while you all were separated and Thena was in Australia. Thena had no real plans to go back to Australia since it wasn't the same without Gilgamesh there, and now that she was out trying to find other Eternals that were programmed by Arishem, she had no real concrete place to stay.
"You wish for me to stay here?" Thena asked you as you were sitting with her at the kitchen table. Makkari was playing with Melody in the living room, the pair of them too engrossed with their game while I was talking with the warrior. You were heavily pregnant, your swollen belly taking your center of gravity and making it near impossible for you to walk around. Once again, just like the month before Melody was going to be born, you had a room made into a birthing suite and ready for the babies. This time you were going to use the study on the first floor as the birthing suite, not wishing to use Melody's old room as you did in the past and leaving the last guest room as the new nursery.
"We found a house out in Oregon on the coast that will have plenty of room for us," You explained, seeing her take a long drink of her tea from her mug, "And we don't have the heart to give this place away. You and I both know that Makkari can't keep still for more than a few days,"
Thena chuckled, looking over into the living room as Makkari and Melody signed to each other. Makkari had a sense of pride on her face as her niece and Goddaughter signed back to her swiftly and with ease.
"Take a break from finding others," you said to her, seeing Thena look back at you as you smiled softly at her, "Arishem's no longer a threat to us, and I know Druig used the Uni-Mind to make him stop creating others. Perhaps it’s a sign to stop and just….live out here,"
Thena drank in what you told her, almost thinking the same thing herself. Thena was restless, like Makkari, but she was always looking for something to protect and something to do with her hands. Makkari was more of the sticky fingers type, seeking out new things to collect and new things to possess. Thena's restlessness seemed like she was searching for something. It was always this way with Thena, and you always wondered what she was searching for.
"Perhaps I do need to slow down a bit," she hummed, taking another drink from her mug. You grinned, about to drink water from your glass when you pause and grunted in pain. Thena saw you, pausing her drink as you clutched your belly for a brief moment. It felt like the worst timing, and maybe it was just regular pain that you were feeling. But you remembered, back when you were pregnant with Melody, what a contraction felt like.
Not now…please not now…..
"Clío…" Thena said your name in a warning. You shook your head, getting up slowly from your chair when the pain went away and you grabbed your glass.
"It's nothing," You reassured her, waddling over to the wink with the glass in hand. The last thing you wanted to happen was to go into labor with two of your friends visiting, and with Druig at work. This was not how you planned it, yet going into labor was never a thing to be planned. You were about to place the glass in the sink when the pain hit you hard again. This time, you cried out and the glass slipped to the ground.
The glass shattered, Thena got up from her chair swiftly. You were going onto labor.
"Take my hand," She said to you, reaching her delicate yet deadly hand out for you. You took it, breathing through the contraction. Squeezing her hand tightly, you had your other hand on the countertop and you hissed in pain, "Breathe right through it, just like before."
"Momma?" You cringed, hearing Melody's voice calling out to you in concern. You didn't want your daughter to see this, no matter how gently and calmly you told her what was going to happen. You had to prepare yourself for the home birth, no matter how intense it was going to be.
"Makkari, go get Druig and bring him back here yourself please," Thena said behind her, you haring very faintly the fast sounds of Makkari using her speed to go out the door, "Melody, come here little one,"
Melody ran over to the kitchen near you, you opened your eyes through the soft pain and saw her look at you with worry. You wanted to take her hand, you wanted to tell her that you were okay and this was normal. But the aftershock of the contraction was making it hard for you to even talk.
"Your siblings are coming," Thena said to her calmly and with a hint of authority, "Your mother is going to be in pain and we need your help. Go fetch your mother's phone for me, please,"
"Okay, Aunty Thena," She said, reluctantly leaving your side to find your phone. You breathed heavily through your nose and mouth. A few seconds later, the front door swiftly and you felt another hand on your waist and a hand in yours to replace Thena's hand.
"I got you, sweetheart," During hummed against you, you leaning on him as Thena moved to find your daughter and Druig squeezed your hand tightly in his own, "Just like last time, okay? Take some deep breaths and take it easy,"
"I'm calling the others," Thena said to Druig, "Come on, little one. Let's call your Uncles and Aunts and tell them your siblings are on the way,"
You could see out of the corner of your eye Thena walking out the back porch, holding Melody's hand in hers as she was using your cellphone with ease. Melody was following her like a lost puppy, looking back at you for a brief moment as Makkari sped walked towards the pair of you. You saw Druig look over at her then.
"Get the boys, 'Kari," He said to her, seeing her nod her head once and sped off again. You felt useless, everyone else around you was moving and getting things set in motion. All you could do was breathe and try not to collapse on the ground in pain and fatigue. It was silly to think you were useless since you were the one carrying twins and about to give birth, all of this planning evolved around you.
"Let's get these babies in the world, what do you say?" Druig asked you calmly as he placed a kiss against your head. You nodded, taking in a sharp inhale as you gave him an intense yet loving look.
The next few hours were going to be torturous, and all you could do was breathe.
------------------------------------------------------------
7 hours later, your twin sons were born healthy and safe.
This time, the labor was swift and you pushed for only a good 45 minutes before the boys were born. It wasn't as long and as antagonizing as it was with Melody, but it was just as harsh on your body. Thena once again was at the helm, stepping in as your midwife as she did previously. Jack came solely to keep Melody occupied, Makkari helping him out as well since you all had no idea how long this labor was going to be.
After Makkari sped to Chicago and grabbed Phastos and his family, she flew the Domo over to London to get the rest of the Eternal Family within an hour while you were pacing the living room floor with Druig, walking through every contraction before you had to be bedridden. This time every one was handling your labor delicately and soothingly, not as paranoid as before. Maybe it was because of what you went through with Arishem and what he meant for you as an Eternal, but you were seen as a precious being to all of them and they all were concerned with every dish of pain you felt.
Finally, your sons were brought into the world. The first little boy was like Melody, quiet with just a whimper on his lips while Thena held him in her arms. He was a tiny thing, light red hair on his pale head and Druig's nose seen. You were happy to see him squirming in the blanket that was ready for him, Druig taking him in his arms and once again smiling in pure joy. You could see the shift in his eyes, almost the same as Melody but also different. This time, Druig was holding his son, almost like a sacred moment between a father and son.
9 minutes later, your second son came with a wail on his lips and you collapsed in the bed with exhaustion.
Your second and youngest had brown hair, lighter than Druig's but brown all the same with a hint of red there. His nose was yours, and with the pair of lungs on him as he cried out, you wondered if he inherited your gift. But it didn't matter, not to you as he was placed on your chest carefully while Thena got you cleaned up. You peered down at your younger son, hearing him grunting and almost squeaking against your chest as you grinned with tears in your eyes. He was so little, almost gravitating towards you instantly like a little beacon for him to cling to. You leaned down to press a kiss to his delicate and fresh hair, the fatigue you felt all over was nothing compared to the new love you had for your sons that were finally there.
Once Thena got you cleaned up and changed into fresh clothes, Druig helped you get into your bed on the second floor. Just like before, your rapid healing was kicking in once you were settling in bed, Thena and Sersi helping you along the way. As soon as you settled against the headboard, taking a moment to catch your breath, Druig placed your youngest in your awaiting arms as he held the elder twin in his own. He was watching his son with a wave of love there in his eyes, soaking in the moment he was having with his newborn son.
You did the same with your younger son, feeling him already being content in your arms and settling into your hold with ease. You saw a good mixture between you and Druig in your sons, a great combination within the noses and the cheekbones. They both looked so different, and yet the same. The one thing they had in common was the ears, which seemed so perfect to you already.
It still felt like a dream that you had a son, let alone two. They both were healthy, nothing to worry about at all while you got your time with them both. Druig moved to sit next to you on the bed, just like before but holding a twin in his embrace. You felt another wave of tears hit you and escape your eyes, looking between the two babies who were settling in. Reaching over with your spare hand to not disturb the baby on your chest, you touched the cheek of your other son in Druig's arms.
"We have sons," you croaked out, Druig humming with his smile as he touched his finger against the twin on your chest and feeling that twin squeak against his touch.
"Our boys," He said in a whisper, almost in disbelief himself. You two were drinking in each twin in silence and love, trying to picture what their future was going to be like and what kind of boys they were going to be. This time, there was no real fear that was going to be creeping up behind you to make you worried. Arishem was no longer a factor, no longer a nightmare that kaput you awake at night like before right after Melody was born. Your sons were spared from that pain, and now all you had to look forward to was bliss.
A gentle tap was at the door, the pair of you looking over to see Makkari poking her head in, holding a quiet and curious Melody in her arms. You beamed brightly at your daughter, seeing her blue eyes watch her mother and father with two babies in their arms.
"Hey Petal," You called out to her, Makkari slipping into the room with Melody in your arms as you gestured to one of the babies in your arms, "You wanna meet your brothers?"
She nodded quietly, more curious than anything as Makkari placed her gently on the ground. Melody walked over carefully, getting close to Druig on the side of the bed as she looked from one baby to the other. Now that they were here, you had to wonder what was going on in your daughter's mind. She was ready to meet them, already excited to be a sister and show them the ways of the world through her eyes. And yet, at the same time, you were remembering that talk to had with her months before when Melody was worried she would be forgotten or lost in the shuffle. Was she thinking the same thing now since her brothers were there?
"Hi," She whispered to her brother in Druig's arms, the baby boy stirring from hearing her voice and she slightly smiled, "I'm your sister, Melody. It's nice to meet you,"
You wanted to full-on cry from how she was talking to one of the babies, and you could see a massive grin on Druig's face as his daughter was looking at the baby in his arms. Leaning over, he pulled her close with his spare hand and hugged her gently. It felt like the last thing that needed to be done to make this all complete. Melody already being the best big sister you could ever hope for.
"What are their names, Da?" Melody asked Druig, then looked over at you. You sighed, leaning back a bit and giving your husband a loving gaze. Neither you nor Druig chose names, mainly because you had no idea about the genders. The only thing you were worried about was if they were going to be healthy.
"You should name them, honey," You said to Druig, seeing his head whip over to you with a small shock on his face.
"I…I can't do that," He said in almost a stammer, moved that you would want him to take on this massive task of naming your children, "You gave birth to them, sweetheart,"
"I did," You agreed, "But you helped create them and bring them into this world. You protected them, Druig, in more ways than one. They wouldn't be alive if it weren't for you. Their father should name them, it seems fitting,"
Druig inhaled sharply, trying to control himself from openly crying in front of his family. Yet to you, it didn't matter if he openly wept or had a few tears. He was still strong in your eyes, beyond strong in how he strived to help your family thrive and grow. You both were each other's supporters and advocates, it was an equal balance and you fought hard to keep it that way.
Finally, he looked over at the baby in your arms and the other in his own. Melody was inching closer now, tall enough to see her brother as she rested her chin on Druig's elbow. You didn't hear Makkari snapping a picture off her phone while she watched with a beaming grin on her face in the corner of the room.
"Finn," Durig said to the boy in his arms, watching how the little one was already asleep and his coarse red hair was sticking out against the blanket he was swaddled in, "Finn Gilgamesh,"
You heard Makkari gasp from her spot, you smiling widely at the chosen name on your son. It felt perfect, almost right as Druig pressed a kiss into the red hair so softly and delicately. The mention of Gilgamesh was enough to bring the room into a more intimate space. You were glad to have Gilgamesh be a part of your family now, officially, and it felt right.
"And for our little warrior," He said, looking at the sleeping boy in your arms. You looked too, watching the brown-haired beauty that had his cheek against your chest and his nose touching your neck softly. He had a pair of lungs on him, already showing his parents that he was willing to stand on his own. You had one name on your mind, and although you wanted Druig to name your sons, you had a name float in your head and it seemed perfect.
"Oliver," You said calmly, Druig looking at you now as you were watching your son.
"Oliver Ajak," Her face was there, smiling so brightly and so widely. Her voice was soothing in your ear, telling you how proud she was of you and how great of a mother you were. Her presence was once again evident, as it was when Melody was born. It was like she was blessing this moment with your children, your three beautiful and perfect children, and with your strong and passionate husband.
Oliver and Finn, they were the last two pieces that you needed to be completed to bring your world fully together.
The End.

Hi! I thought about that Thena maybe sees his bruises that he got from falling down the stairs, when he makes himself ready for the night and is worried about him?
Maybe some soft moment?
I think it was from the teach me to love au!
"Gil."
He turned at that soft voice. He pulled his t-shirt on the rest of the way and turned on his side of the bed, "what's up, Angel?"
Thena came into the room, pushing the door closed gently behind her. She padded over to him, eyes running over him in the soft light of the lamp. "Let me see."
He almost wasn't sure what she was talking about at first, until he saw her eyes on him. As much as he might have enjoyed turning this into some teasing, maybe a little fun. He sighed.
Thena bit into her lip as he pulled his shirt off again, exposing the bruises that were forming and already starting to develop colour. "Gil, these are bad."
"I've had worse," he chuckled, but got poked between the ribs with a thin, manicured finger. "Ah!"
"I mean it," she muttered, not indulging in his attempt to laugh it off. "Gil, you could have gotten really hurt."
He frowned, turning on the bed to look at her better. She had tears in her eyes, "Thena-"
"Do you know how I started telling Druig no running?--especially with socks on?" She adjusted her legs beside her, winding out of her nightdress. "He was just starting to walk."
"You have to watch them at that age so closely," she shook her head as she remembered it. "I was still at home with him full time, but I just...I just had to run to the office for a few minutes."
Gil didn't like the sound of this, most definitely barrelling towards a story of her ex-husband.
"I told Kro to watch him, I still had baby gates up, I thought-" Thena cut herself off, pinching her eyes closed. Her whole body shuddered. "I was only gone a half hour."
Gil pulled her closer to him, nuzzling her temple, "what happened, Angel?"
She sniffled. "I came back and Druig was screaming bloody murder. I asked Kro what happened and he said he didn't know. He was in the living room and Druig was 'around'."
Gil rolled his eyes.
"Druig had gotten up enough momentum that he couldn't stop and slid right into the corner of the coffee table," she sighed, her shoulders dropping. "When I looked at his hair he even had some blood. I was angrier than I ever remember being in my life."
"I think that's understandable, Angel," Gil kissed her hair. And it sounded exactly like the Kro they knew (unfortunately).
"Ever since then I'm particularly vigilant about running, and sock feet, and especially stairs-"
Gil pressed a kiss to Thena's forehead, reclining her more in his arms so they could look at each other without hurting their necks. "I'm sorry, Thena. I knew the rule had a reason and I indulged him too much."
She put her hand on his cheek, "it's not like I never indulge it. These things happen."
He still felt bad about it.
She tapped her finger against his chin, "Gil, you protected him from something that happens to kids everyday. That is all that matters, you know."
"I know, but," he shook his head. He gave her a wincing expression, "well, maybe I was feeling a little more indulgent than I usual because of the whole-"
"Personal space."
They both laughed as they finished the collective and familiar sentence. Thena nodded, "it's been hard for you."
Gil shook his head, "it's been hard on Druig."
Thena tilted her head at him, "on you, too. You've been extra careful around him. It's hard when they're unhappy with you."
Gil nodded. She knew very well what it was like to have to be the villain based solely on making the responsible decisions. "We were having fun."
Thena smiled, kissing him gently, "he loves you."
He leaned into her touch on his cheek, "I love him too, Angel."
"He trusts you enough to ask you not to tell me," Thena offered both to help his spirits and with not that pleased an expression.
"Ah, kids do that," he shrugged, settling them on the bed more comfortably. "I guess it's good that he trusts me, still."
"He always trusted you, Gil," she leaned up and pecked his cheek as he settled her on his chest against the pillows, "he just got a little shaken up."
He chuckled; that could be said about the 'personal space' incident and the fall just today. He sighed.
"It'll pass," Thena promised him as she pulled the comforter up around them. She leaned up to kiss him again, "Druig trusts you. And I trust you, love."

#16: “so…the baby is fine, i want you to know that first, they are absolutely fine”
“what did you do?”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
it was a normal day in the village. you were 5 months pregnant with yours and druig’s first baby. you thought he was protective when you weren’t pregnant, but when you are? its overbearing at this point.
you were helping with the village when you felt faint, so you went back to the house. a few minutes later druig came in and that’s when you had to come clean. he was about to kiss you when you spoke, “so…the baby is fine, i want you to know that first, they are absolutely fine”.
he looked at you and up and down and had a panic stricken face. “what did you do?” “i was helping in the village and-” “you were helping when i told you to take it easy?” “can i finish?” he nodded. “i felt faint so i went home. i’m fine now”
he kissed you and said, “you’re going to be the death of me” “you love me” he laughed. “i do”

Hi!
It's been a while but I saw this and I can only think in Orla and Rory spying Druig and the reader and being happy for them and their love. 🎭
https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTdVcFJ7Q/
I'm sobbinggggggg!!! ♡♡♡
Tumblr media
The kids have always thought of you and Druig as the blueprint for what love should be and how to treat your partner. They loved seeing the little moments the two of you shared like when you would do the dishes at Ajak's place, Druig would sit on the counter next to you and offer you snacks from his bowl.
One of their favorite hared memories when one Christmas. Rory snuck into Orla's room to wake her up so they can hunt down Santa Claus "Orla," he whispered, shaking her awake, "I heard something on the roof! It's time."
"Fine," she grumbled, lazily getting out of bed.
They tip-toed to the edge of the stairs, their backs pressed against the wall. Soft Christmas music could be heard from downstairs, the smell of fresh cookies filling their noses. "What if he's down there?" Rory asked beside his sister.
"Shh," she hushed, pressing her forefinger to her lips, "we don't wanna scare him."
They peered around the corner and looked down at the large tree. It wasn't Santa they saw in the dark room, placing presents and eating cookies amongst the colorful lights. It was you, wrapped in Druig's arms as he swayed you side to side, whispering the lyrics into your ear. You giggled and nuzzled your face into his neck while his fingers traced along your luminous skin.
The kids smiled and took a seat on the top step, Orla scooting over to make for Rory's blue bunny in the middle. "Do they always do that?" Rory asked innocently.
Orla nodded and smiled, "For as long as I could remember."
Rory brought his legs up to his chest and rested his chin atop his knees. "I just hope they don't scare off Santa," he sighed.
She nodded along and placed her head on the railing, "Yeah," she hummed, "me too."

I saw your requests are open again! im so glad you’re back!! could i request Finding the Perfect Pumpkin with Barry or Druig?! 🍂🧡
A/N: DARLING!! I'm SO glad to be back and thank you for requesting this cute little oneshot with Druig! (And just for you, we're gonna make this part of the Melody Universe!)
Little Pumpkin
Summary: Druig and Clío take Melody to her first pumpkin patch with Phastos and his family in tow
Tumblr media
Warnings: Nothing but fluff coming your way! This is part of my Druig, Clío and Melody series found Here
Tumblr media
"What kind of pumpkin should we get her, Aunt Clío?"
"Well, I think we should get Melody a little one that she can hold, don't you think?"
Jack nodded in agreement as you were all walking up to the massive pumpkin patch that was stretched out in front of you. Melody was walking while holding your hand, her 2 year old eyes were massive with all the pumpkins around her while Phastos and Druig were walking in the front, side by side and scanning the area on where to start.
This was all Phastos's idea, mentioning it to you and Druig during one of your FaceTime sessions a month prior. There was a massive pumpkin patch right outside of town in Chicago, one of the biggest ones in the state with rides and food added. Phastos has been taking his husband and son every year, thinking it would be fun for you and Druig to take Melody. She was big enough to really explore, 2 in a half years old and ready to grab anything within reach. It seemed like a great idea to take her, to start those memories with her while she's young. Plus it gave you and Druig some time to catch up with Phastos and his family, whom were beyond supportive and helpful with you two when Melody was born.
There were plenty of people exploring the patch and already getting their pumpkins, some with wagons that were filled to the brim and other just holding them in their arms. Phastos's husband Ben was pulling a smaller wagon behind him, figuring it was smart to load all the pumpkins together.
"They got smaller ones over here for her to pick from," Phastos explained to you and Druig, pointing to a smaller patch that had tiny pumpkins. You all followed him, Melody looking at everything with her big blue eyes and beyond excited to release your hand and touch all the pumpkins. Her thick brown hair was to her shoulders, made in two thick braids and under a beanie that Druig placed on her head to make sure she didn't catch a cold.
"Look, Petal. These ones are just your size!" You said to her as you approached the baby pumpkin garden, "Go look for one you like,"
As soon as you released her hand, she was off.
Laughing as she went, she was running full speed with Jack on her heels, looking at every little pumpkin and not knowing where to start first. You stood off to the side with a massive smile, seeing how stimulated she was in every single kind of pumpkin in front of her. Druig was just as entertained, taking out his phone to take some pictures and was following her to keep and eye.
"DA! Look, Da!" she said in excitement to Druig as she pointed to a tiny one whilst tugging at his hand. Druig knelt down to see her pick it up and shove it in his face, "It's little!"
"That it is," Druig hummed in agreement, Melody placing it back on the ground and looking for another one with a pep in her step. Druig stayed right behind her, watching with his intrigued eyes and a smirk on his face. It looked like such a contrast with the pair of them, Druig clad in his leather jacket and black pants with his boots and hands shoved in his pockets, and Melody in her bright yellow jacket and her green beanie covering her thick hair with a massive smile. But they looked picture perfect together making you sneak in a picture or tow of them interaction together and looking at some pumpkins that caught your daughter's eye.
Ever since you two became parents, you thought of every moment with Melody as sacred. Perhaps it was mere the notion of Melody being a natural miracle, a miracle that neither one of your thought you could ever have as Eternals. It was still a lingering question as to how it was possible, after all your time on Earth, that you had a child now. That you had a child in general.
But you two wanted to savor every little moment with her, not caring if that was seen as sappy or stereotypical as new parents. You were after all, taking pictures of every little thing she did and making sure her childhood would be filled with love and joy. Thankfully, Phastos knew exactly that same feeling with his own son, not judging you two for a second but choosing to help guide you along the journey. So this pumpkin patch would be a new tradition for her to grow and love.
"She's getting big," Phastos said in a snort as he stood next to you, watching your husband and daughter look at every pumpkin, "And I swear, she looks just like her dad. That's a scary thought, isn't it?"
You slapped Phastos on the shoulder as he chuckled, "I happen to like her dad, thank you,"
"And I do too, Clío. He's a good dad," He said to you, having you smirk as you watched Druig show Melody another pumpkin with his fingers, Melody holding it in her hands to inspect it herself. He looked to relaxed with her, his eyes intrigued with his daughter and his genuine smile that seemed so massive etched on his face. You took another picture on your phone, knowing they wouldn't see it as you sent it to the others on the group chat. Your own heart melted from the picture, wishing to frame it and keep it forever since it showed Druig's true nature of being a father.
He loved his daughter more than reason and more than words. He would hold her for hours on end if he could, savor ever milestone that she went through, and simply do anything to make her laugh. There was never any hesitance that Druig loved children, even in the earlier years on the planet he thought of children as beyond innocent and kind. Of course he was always stoic in front of the others, but you saw him from time to time be gentle and silly with little ones just to brighten their spirits.
And now he had his own child to love on and protect.
"This one, this one!"
You waked over with Phastos as Melody was holding up a decent pumpkin to her father, barely holding it in her tiny hands as Druig took it with ease. Melody watcher her father examine it, though he was acting as though he was thinking about it long and hard.
"I don't know, Petal...is this the right one for you?" He asked in a teasing tone, Melody giggled and nodding her head.
"Please, Da? Please?!" She asked so sweetly, her eyes big and hoping he would say yes. Your heart swelled from hearing her use her manners on her father, whom just grinned at her and nodded his head.
"This is perfect, we can take this one," Druig said finally, Melody clasping her hands in joy before she saw you. She took the pumpkin from her father, waddling over to you with her new prize within her little arms to show you as you knelt in front of her.
"Look, momma! My pumpkin!" She said with pride, her little voice was so bright and filled with joy as she showed you her new pumpkin. You smiled wide.
"This is perfect for you, Mel. Wanna take it home and decorate it?" You asked her, seeing her nod her head so fast she almost dropped it. You giggled and watch her waddle to Ben's wagon to place it inside, being the every independent child that she was. As you stood up and watched her, Druig nick up next to you to lace your hands together, you both watching your little girl place her pumpkin the wagon with Ben's help.
"I think we did good with her, don't you think?" He asked, sounding amused as Melody placed her pumpkin safely in the wagon and seemed quite proud of herself. You nodded from his question, leaning your head on his shoulder and squeezing your joined hands together. It sometimes felt like dream when you would look at your daughter, thinking you were going to wake up back in the Amazon with Druig before the Emergence would begin. But she was there, her voice that was light and filled with wonder, her smile that seemed to melt any icy heart in front of her, and her simple presence that made you know that this was no dream.
Melody was yours, your little pumpkin.
"Come on, let's get some cider and warm up a bit," Druig said to you, tugging your hand as he pulled you along to join the others. Jack was grabbing a few pumpkins with Phastos, Melody standing with Ben and holding his hand to watch her Uncle and Cousin get the bigger pumpkins. You took Melody onto your hip with ease, Melody giggled and was playing with the collar on your jacket as Druig went to find some cider for your family.
You snuck a kiss onto Melody's cheek, drinking in this moment for all it's worth.
The End.

For your teach me to love AU:
The next time Kro shows up in front of Thenas house they argue about the Father-Child-day activity in Druigs school. Gil is there too since they are having dinner and before the whole situation between Kro and Thena escalates Druig goes between them angry before he declares that he wants Mister Dad as his to go parent for this day, surprising everyone.
"I am not doing this right now!"
"You can't avoid me forever, Thee!"
Gil sighed, looking down at Druig sitting next to him. They had been in the middle of dinner when Kro had shown up (again). Druig still wasn't feeling very welcoming to his father, which - as Thena had told him - continued to anger Kro more and more.
Druig gave up on his mac and cheese, setting down his small plastic fork. He leaned over in his chair, plunking himself against Gil's side, "Dad's yellin' at Mum."
Gil frowned, reduced to rubbing Druig's shoulder as Thena and Kro's voices varied in volume and intensity from outside. At least it was warmer out this time.
Druig looked up at Gil, "do you know what they're yellin' about, Mister Dad?"
Gil tried to think about how exactly to phrase things delicately. "Well, I think your mom told your dad about the parents' activity day that's coming up at school, buddy."
"Oh," Druig blinked, having not considered that possibility. Or at least, not having considered that it could bring his father all the way here to their home over it. "You said it doesn't have to be a parent, right?"
"That's right," Gil affirmed, somewhat using his 'teacher' tone automatically. "It can be any grownup in your life you trust and want to spend more time with."
And who was approved by the school, which was their biggest defense for not having invited Kro to it. Only one guardian/stand-in was 'needed' anyway.
"I'm his father, Thena!"
Gil looked in the direction of the front door. He didn't like the idea of Kro screaming in Thena's face either, but she had insisted that it was better for her peace of mind for him to stay inside to comfort Druig while she faced down her ex-husband alone.
"That doesn't mean anything!"
"Like hell it doesn't!"
Gil and Druig both whipped their heads around as something knocked against the front door. Gil furrowed his brows; he didn't really think Kro would get physical with Thena, but he also didn't really know the man at all. And what he did know, he did not like.
Druig was already out of his seat and running towards the front door.
"Druig!" Gil moved to follow him, but the kid was fast--he was getting faster and faster the longer he knew Makkari.
Druig opened the front door, hanging onto his mother's leg (without realising he was actually the strongest cause of her stumbling). "Mum!"
"Whoa!" Gil rushed forward, keeping Thena from falling backwards as the door was suddenly taken away from being against her back. Both of their hands had instinctively landed on Druig's head to protect him.
"Gil?" Thena blinked as he caught her around her waist.
"Sorry, he bolted when he heard you trip," he said against her ear, keeping his eye on the steaming mad blonde glaring at him over Thena's head.
"I didn't trip," she muttered before looking at Kro again. "He slammed his hand on the door."
Kro sighed at sight of Gil, leaning away from the doorway, surely after having been looming over Thena again. "Teacher."
"Hey," Gil responded for lack of anything else to say. He supposed he didn't really know how to speak to his girlfriend's ex-husband either. Although he was quite confident in saying he had more manners than that cretin.
"Darling, go bad inside," Thena spoke softly, smoothing the hair on top of Druig's head as he pressed his face against her leg. "Your father and I are just talking."
He whined, shaking his head against her.
Kro looked at Thena, "I'm his father. I have a right to be at this fuckin' school thing."
"How many times to do I have to tell you to mind your language around him?" Thena glared right back in his face. "And being his father doesn't entitle you to any such activity, especially when you arrive unannounced--again!"
"It's for parents, no?" Kro enunciated as if she were the one being obtuse about it.
"It's for the kids to choose who they want to bond with," Gil clarified, not that he really thought it would help deescalate things as they were going. But he was right, "no one is required, and no one is excluded, either. But it is a school run event; only people on a kid's approved pick-up list is allowed to come without submitting the paperwork for it."
"Right," Kro scoffed, as if the safety protocols in place were insulting to him personally.
Thena crossed her arms in Kro's face, "I'm Druig's legal guardian, Kro. I'm going."
"And I can't go too?" he shook his head, giving Thena a look so condescending it made Gil feel offended just witnessing it. "I'm-"
"No!"
All three adults looked down as Druig voiced his opinion.
Thena patted his head again, "Darling-"
"No, I want Mister Dad for it!"
Kro raised a brow, obviously unaware of why there was a formal title being attached to him in this context. "Uh, it's just Dad, kid."
"No, Mister Dad! I want Mister Dad!"
Thena gave Gil behind her a look before bending down and scooping Druig up into her arms. She rubbed his back, preparing to soothe him through his tears, but he squirmed.
"Dad's yelling at you," Druig declared, sulking rather obstinately and wrapping his little arms around his mother's neck. "S'not nice."
"I'll be f-" Kro nearly got out yet another profanity before he caught Thena glaring at him again. He clapped his jaw shut and inhaled slowly, "I'll...be nice. Promise."
Gil doubted that promise was really worth anything.
"No," Druig pouted, remaining strong in the face of his father (from within his mother's protective embrace). "I want Mum and Mister Dad to do it."
"Who is-" Kro stopped in the middle of his dramatic display of confusion and glared. He moved forward, and Thena instinctively moved back with Druig tight against her side. "You?"
Gil put a hand on Thena's shoulder, pulling her and Druig closer to him. "We've already talked about it. He knows you're his father, Kro. That hasn't changed."
Kro, for what an asshole he was, seemed to have some genuinely conflicting feelings over the news that his son was calling someone else 'Dad', in any form. He looked at Druig, who turned his face away from him and into his mother's hair. He looked at Thena, who put her hand on Druig's back and stared at him the way a bear with cubs would stare down a hunter.
"It's Druig's choice, Kro," Thena said with a tone of finality to it. She ran her fingers through the hair at the back of his head as he clung to her. "You're his father. No one is challenging that."
Kro almost looked saddened; no one was arguing it except the child in question--his child. "Right."
"You can schedule a visit with him next month," Thena allowed (with visible reluctance). "If you like."
Kro winced, "I'm in Australia for six weeks by then."
Thena just nodded, showing no relief nor disappointment at the news. "I'll send you the videos of the event."
Kro stepped back, nodding and looking around him (and away from them). He had wounds to nurse. "I'll, uh, look forward to 'em, then."
Gil really could have some sympathy for the guy. He didn't have much respect for him as a parent, or an ex-partner. But he clearly loved his kid and wanted to forge a relationship with him, whether it was a bit late for that or not.
Kro leaned forward, obviously looking for a hug goodbye. He sighed, but accepted it as Druig continued to burrow away from him. "Okay, okay, right. Bye, Thee, bye my lad."
Druig at least pulled his head out - partially - to wave at him.
Gil and Thena both let go of a tense breath as Kro slumped down the walkway and got back in his rental car. She slumped against him, "he can't keep doing this."
Gil had the feeling this wouldn't be happening for some time again. At least, not without notice, anymore. "He did say he's working for six weeks. That's something."
Thena smiled up at him and his gentle optimism.
"Mister Dad?"
"Yes, buddy?" Gil smiled, joining Thena in rubbing Druig's tiny back.
"Is it okay if you be my parent for the activity day?"
Gil looked at Thena, who shrugged. They were still not entirely public about their relationship, given that he was Druig's teacher and it was maybe questionable as far as the ethics of it were concerned. But it was nearing the end of the school year, marking the end of him being Druig's primary teacher.
"I could be his," Gil mumbled in Thena's ear again, "and you could be Makkari's--since Ajak was worried about not being able to make it."
Thena smiled, looking at Druig, "Darling, I think that's a splendid idea."
"Really?" he beamed at them.
"Yeah, I think so," Gil smiled as well, pulling Druig from Thena's arms and swinging him around before putting him on the ground again. "How about I be your parent and your mom can be Makkari's, since Miss Ajak is gonna be working?"
"Yeah!"
Ah, kids--so happy to accept things so long as they work out in the end. Gil and Thena breathed another sigh of relief.
