Prompt:
It’s not that Jason forgot, per se.
But between smuggling a toddler out of the League of Assassins, trekking halfway across the world, and finding a suitable hiding place that’s also child friendly… well, it kind of slipped his mind that he’s supposed to be… dead.
Something that comes back to bite him in the ass when he takes Dami out for some ice cream and just so happens to run into non other than Brucie-fucking-Wayne

Nico and Percy's dynamic through the series is eternally funny to me, because it's just. like.
Percy's having a constant mental struggle between his fatal flaw of loyalty with a promise he made to Bianca to protect Nico, versus his Big 3 kid desire to maim other Big 3 kids / Poseidon descendant urge to totally maim Nico specifically. He hates Nico so so much. He thinks Nico's annoying and weird at best, and creepy/sketchy when he's older. The only positive thoughts Percy has towards Nico are "He's Bianca's brother and Bianca was my friend and I owe her/He's Hazel's brother and Hazel is my friend and would kill me if I was mean to him," "He's a powerful asset and useful ally (if questionable)," and "He's kinda pathetic and I feel maybe a little bad about it." Percy has multiple occasions throughout the series where he strongly considers - and on one occasionally actually goes through with - throttling Nico.
Meanwhile, Nico is following around Percy like a lost puppy. He explicitly can never bring himself to even dislike anything about Percy no matter how hard he tries. He has a whole bit in BoO where he's mentally going "UGH he's so stupid BUT IT'S ENDEARING HOW DARE HE." He's totally smitten. He's making deals with his dad for Percy. He's making convoluted plans to help Percy stand a chance against Kronos. During the entirety of BoTL it's like he's playing tsundere - "I'm helping NOT PERCY SPECIFICALLY with this quest! Me helping Percy would be SILLY because I DEFINITELY HATE HIM." Then he proceeds to show up to Percy's birthday party to basically ask him on a weird date and spend the entire next book scrambling around trying to help him or protect him or impress him. And Percy could not give less of a shit.
Just. That dynamic is so funny to me. Percy is the founder of the Nico Protection Club in that he's the one they're all protecting Nico from and meanwhile Nico is throwing himself at Percy to the point where the literal god of gay love calls him out on it.

the narrative is SO mean to merlin in s2 especially. arthur took a possessed cedric as a servant, druids died when merlin sent morgana to them, gaius gets imprisoned and interrogated by aredian bc merlin wanted to do a little fun bit of magic, he falls in love with freya and she dies, he has to lie to arthur so he won't kill his tyrant dad, he has to poison morgana so that camelot won't die, and then merlin has to set kilgarrah free and then he wrecks havoc on camelot... it is unbearable how much the narrative MAKES merlin hide his magic even further

Jason: I'm sorry, my dad tried to do what to you?
Nico:
Nico: Nothing. I didn't say anything.
Percy, climbing in through the window: HE SAID THAT HE TRIED TO KILL HIM WHEN HE WAS A KID!
Nico: Oh my God, Percy, where the fuck did you come from?
Percy: From outside, obviously.
Percy, uncapping Riptide: Anyway, Jason, would you like to come with me to embark on a quest to kill your dad?
Nico: Percy, no!

Lmao Zeus & Hades are such bad dads that they think Percy would rob a god for his deadbeat dad who owes Sally 12 years of back pay for child support…
These literal God-Kings sat down and were like hmmm Poisedon hasn’t talked to this child in years to avoid people knowing he ejaculated when he should’ve of evacuated… & has a shitty abusive stepdad now… that child would absolutely Mission Impossible Olympus for him! Let’s kill him :)
Hey dumbasses, my own deadbeat parent can barely get me to text them back, I ain’t stealing shit for them. As a member of Team Deadbeat Parent, that request would’ve caused 12 year old me to cuss out an adult for the first time

Keith walking into the holding cell greeting all the regulars by name while Lance is sobbing lamenting that his life is over and his future is ruined (they were like. Trespassing or some shit he’s going to be fine)
lance: (actively dry heaving in the corner, on the verge of a panic attack as he imagines having a permanent record)(actually what does a permanent record even look like?)(omg is he going to have to go to COURT? like in JUDGE JUDY?)
keith: remy, this is lance. lance, this is remy, she’s my favorite alcoholic :)

I have seen you talking about Dick & Dami's relationship and Dick & Tim as well, but what are your takes on Dick and Jason actually?
Like how you wish their relationship should be portrayed today and where are them missing when it comes to making those two acting like siblings?
Do you think in the past their dynamic was better?
How Dick views Jason and how Jason views Dick?
This is difficult to answer because there are like 8 different stages to Dick and Jason's relationship with various dynamics. They also view each other a bit differently depending on which stage we're talking about.
The way I would like their relationship to be portrayed today isn’t necessarily possible thanks to Jason’s integration into the family and acceptance of the no killing moral code. For me, their ideal dynamic is portrayed in Outsiders #44-46. And I know people are gonna find that regressive as hell but, tbh, that dynamic is far more interesting than the kinda awkward thing they have going on now.
Although, I don't mind that they acknowledge their brotherhood in a serious manner now. Like before they'd kinda be like, "Eh... I mean... we were adopted from the same guy but... brothers? Eh..." And now they're more firmly in the, "We're brothers," camp. So that development is interesting.
Character progression wise, it wouldn't feel right for for them to be super close in the way that, say, Dick and Tim are (unless we saw a lot of trust and relationship building between them), but at the same time, there is part of me that kind of wants them to have that older sibling bond (except Jason is closer in age to Tim than he is to Dick sooo actually let's just leave older sibling things to Dick and Cass... not that Cass is much older than Jason though so LOL this is why Dick has to lone the oldest sibling thing by himself... which is funny because Dick is technically no longer the oldest sibling, he's a baby brother now... except Dick and Melinda's relationship really hasn't progressed much sooo you could say they share blood but don't consider each other family yet, in which case, Dick is still the oldest... I mean, regardless, Dick is the oldest sibling of the Waynes... god why did they have to make all of this so difficult 😫).

People who hate Shiv or think she was wrong for what she did in the finale are so unserious to me. "How could she screw over Kendall and stop them from keeping the company???" oh you mean the guy who promised they'd run it together and then immediately double crossed her? And then spent the rest of the season trying to cut Roman out of the company too?? How could she betray that guy??? real mystery.

Len couldn't write a single word for the grandma 💀 She's only there so you don't think that the grandpa somehow cloned himself asexually to produce the dad. Yoshiki's mom on the other hand must have spawned into existence because she doesn't even have parents.

No, actually, I’ll not just be generally vaguely upset about the framework that pisses me off, I will also be specifically pissed off about the way he’s trying to pat himself on the back and rewrite history.
So having a gay character be brave by coming out and that bravery be an inspiration to other queer characters so they can be brave and come out too is something that comes off poor on its own already - because of the shallow framework that our existence alone is already oh-so brave of us and that others wouldn’t have dared come out if not for Major Queer Character who did it first.
But there is something particularly twisted and nasty about Riordan using this for Nico di Angelo, actually.
Because Nico di Angelo didn’t come out.
Nico di Angelo didn’t get to be brave or inspirational.
Nico di Angelo was forced out of the closet.
Nico di Angelo was outed against his will, in front of others.
Eros forced Nico to come out in front of Jason.
And, quite frankly, the way it was handled further was just as poor. To make this repressed teen from the 1930s, who up until mere days ago was dealing with severe internalized homophobia and couldn’t even admit his own feelings to himself, confess his crush in public, in the middle of camp...
Both of these events really just showed that Riordan is a straight man who doesn’t know this, and didn’t do his research beforehand.
And people just love giving Riordan the benefit of the doubt. Love giving him a pass and clapping him on the shoulder for the inclusion and for trying. And you know what! Yeah, I do love that he includes the gays. I do not think he should get excused for handling representation like shit though.
And this? This is in his newest book? You should think authors grow. Best selling authors should do more research. Get consultants. Stuff like that.
Instead, we’re going back and rewriting history. That forced coming out? Now a moment of bravery and inspiration for others!! Look how great and amazing that is!
Nico di Angelo didn’t get to choose that he was ready to come out, it wasn’t a moment of bravery. Not the kind of bravery that it takes when you are ready to face your personal truth and willingly take the step to own it. It was a moment of fear and desperation. And it was the bravery to face that fear and desperation.
And it really makes me sick to now learn that we’re looking back at it and pretending otherwise, in-universe.

Every description about Nico (especially the canon ones) describing him as “cold” can personally fight me. Nico is jaded, yes, and often closed-off and sometimes stand-offish and defensive but he is not "cold”. He cares SO SO SO MUCH about EVERYONE. He loves and cares with his entire heart constantly and that is a core part of his character. He doesn’t often make public shows of his affection but he takes care to be kind when it matters and doesn’t hide that he does care (usually, the only exception really being him being in the closet, but even then he only hid his crush specifically and not the fact that Percy is important to him). He fine with hugging his friends in front of a crowd and will sit with strangers at a campfire just so they’re not alone. I mean, heck, he’s an extrovert! We know this! He actively seeks out people and gets lonely very quickly and easily! If he can’t talk to living people he will chat with the dead! That’s how much he thrives on being social!
The only time Nico has ever been actively “cold” was the couple of months between TTC and BoTL when he was actively mourning Bianca. Nico is not “cold.” He loves so much and he does show it, just in his own way.

there's no way that 1610!miles was destined to become the prowler, and not just because aaron was already the prowler in that universe (hypothetically, he could have taken over the mantle). as far as we can tell 42!miles became the prowler due to the chaos of a city without its designated spiderman, but 1610 brooklyn already had spiderman and so that environmental pressure doesn't exist. 42!miles was supposed to be spiderman but 1610!miles was not supposed to be the prowler

lemme know if this is supported/debunked anywhere, but i always thought it interesting how significant it was meant to be that jim got hal a framed photo of him and their dad. yes ofc martin’s death makes it significant, but did hal not have any other photos of him? the line “something i wish i could’ve given you a long time ago” gives a weight to the gift like i’m missing smth, like smth could’ve changed if he had. and the fact that jim was so excited to give it to hal all those years ago that he stayed up until midnight makes it feel even more significant, secretive even
what i’m saying is that i headcanon their mom took down all the photos of their dad bc she hated having the reminder. that’s why it’s especially painful for her seeing hal follows in martin’s footsteps, he’s the spitting image of his father. without him there, even in spirit thru framed photos, it puts a lot of pressure onto hal. i can see this being a part of her coddling and overprotectiveness, how she wants to hold onto what she has left. and i can also see how her later disowning him can reflect putting the photos away, how it seems almost contradictory that she wants to protect him so she tells him to never come back. it’s that duality of grief; she loves him so much that she can’t bear to look
god hal rly grew up in a fucked up household didn’t he, no wonder he ran away
