The lack of Vander&Jinx(Powder) fan content is criminal to me.

Although not much was shown, we could see how close they were

We could see it in that bar scene

and by how Powder drew hearts and rainbow around him, unlike poor Mylo.

I REALLY like to think this YOU is Vander (aka Warwick). Especially since Jinx here sounds like she's holding back tears, and we hear Warwick howl at the end.

Silco: Seriously Sevika, it’s like you weren’t even there to see our life-changing hug.

Sevika: I didn’t see it. I was knocked unconscious from her stupid bomb in my attempt to save your stupid life, you fucking asshole.

Silco: ... Are you still mad that your new arm hasn’t come in yet? I told you it’s on its way.

Silco: I’ve become a father.

Vander’s Ghost: You haven’t become shit.

Silco: No, we hugged; pretty sure that means she’s my daughter and I’m her father now.

Vander’s Ghost: IT TAKES MORE THAN A HUG TO BECOME A FATHER!!!

Several Years Later - 

Silco is killed by Jinx, but he doesn’t hate nor blame her; instead, he uses his last words to try and comfort her in the best way he can think of due to the impossible and awful situation that they’re in.

Vander’s Ghost: Fine... you were her father... whatever.

Silco’s Ghost: VINNNNNDICATION!!!

Vander’s Ghost: You’re still a fucking bastard.

I do think it actually took Silco some time to start seeing Jinx as his daughter, but also...

It’s genuinely so much funnier to think that because Silco is someone who would never hug a child, let alone care about someone like he does for Jinx, unless they were in fact his child, that means the second he hugged her - she 100% became his child and he does not understand why everyone is not understanding this.

Seriously they hugged!!! Clearly that means he and Jinx have always been father and daughter; just because they didn’t know each other beforehand and aren’t biologically related, doesn’t mean they weren’t always father and daughter.

No, but in all (some) seriousness - I feel like for anyone else it’s just a hug – it doesn’t have to mean anything at all. But for Silco, for this disaster of a man, who is so damaged, it’s a HUG.

It’s a physical act of affection and it means everything to him, because he doesn’t do that shit lightly.

Once he returned her hug, he was never going to break his promise to her; once he returned that hug, she was his child.

Bonus:

Vander: I don’t think you understand how adoption or becoming a parent works.

Silco: I don’t think you understand how it fucking works; half of your children are dead!

Papa is too far gone to remember, now.

Papa, with soot on his clothes, coal-dust lungs and smoke-stained teeth; with his stiff-canvas collar tickling her chin and sunlight in his hair and his hands so warm—

She remembered his voice the clearest. It was all she could remember. Slurring and soft and centuries old.

And Papa was gone. Snuffed like a flame. Vi was burning. And Vander was there.

Vander, with his smoke-stained teeth and stiff-canvas collar. Vander, whose voice didn't sound right—

Hey, sweetheart. Hotcakes for breakfast, right?

The boys liked him—Vi liked him—Powder refused to call him Dad—

(Because he wasn't wasn't never would be—)

And Vander was gone. Burnt up in blue and fire. Vi was burning out. And she was gone, too—a blot of ash, swept back to the shadows; Vi was gone, and—

Never been fond of tea, myself.

A new voice. New face. Not Papa, not Vander, not Vi—

But he frowns like her. Has scars like her. Papercuts on his fingers and burn spots on his thumbs. Smoke-stained teeth and soft-silk collar, and a whole drawer of shirts that still smell like soot.

His hand is cold, so cold in hers—but he squeezes her fingers back, lightly, and it feels like—

Which jams do you prefer, child? Blackcurrant, or raspberry?

Dunno. We never had any of those.

Well. Snide, like a secret: Most the lot of us hadn't.

And he makes her toasted bread and butter, the way Papa used to. Lets her pick the jam jars by the color, the way Papa let her pick her juice by the prettiest shade. And she sits at the counter, stares at his scratched up hands and the night in his hair and his mismatched eyes, centuries old, and wipes her crumbs on her sleeve.

Powder would have refused to call him Dad—so Jinx does, too.

But he sets a coffee on the varnish, lights up a cigarette, and asks, Did you sleep well, little dove?

And it's almost—

Almost enough.

Silco was a good dad, silco was a bad dad...

Ma'am, he was human. And those aren't perfect. Far from a dad of the year award. He was very flawed and made a lot of mistakes in rising Jinx, the biggest one was weaponizing her anger and confusion. He allowed her to lash out and wreck everything... Encourage her to build a bomb (wtf dude????)

But he made her feel loved and understood.

Here is how I very personally see those family relationships in Arcane. My father is very much Vander type, also built like him, the man of muscle, a big and strong person. He bonds really well with my brother bc they have things in common, they are very much alike and understand each other well. Like Vander and Vi. But I was born a petit girl. Skinny, bony, not into sports, muscle and being big. Into some artsy stuff that aren't interesting like a football game. And we never had anything incommon. Just like Powder and Vander don't. Vander doesn't understand Powder/Jinx. She doesn't feel valuable, she doesn't feel enough since in her family, what matters is strength of your hands, being big, brave, being like a lion not a mouse.

Here is why I and probably a lot of girls out there love character of Silco so much. He UNDERSTANDS. He listens, empathysies and shows that he understands. And for some people, all they ever wanted was to be seen and understood.

Funny but he always reminded me of my mom. Not in the weird creepy way that he is as a villain. In a way that he is skinny and calm, he doesn't scream much, but he patiently explains or gives his point of view. He shows understanding and supports his daughter, wants her to be stronger, no more afraid, no more helpless in the brutal world. He makes Jinx feel seen, appreciated and loved. He seems cold and strict but clearly cares about Jinx a lot and SHOWS that. And they TALK with one another, sorting out the problem. Did Vander talked to Jinx? No, he took Vi for a private conversation, and that's great, very natural, but he was never shows sitting with Jinx for a moment to check how she feels and to tell that her invetions will work some day, and that it's not the end of the world if it didn't work today. And it doesn't seem like something he would do. But Silco knows how it feels to live in the shadow of people bigger then you, how it feels to never be first, or having to listen to people who rise their voice or scream to make their argument or point of view matter more.

And having to choose who I would rather have as a father... Perhaps Vander would be healthier, if you are like Vi or Clogger. But I would rather feel loved and understood. Or at last seen.
