SO WE’RE GONNA TRY AGAIN. this is a fic rec list! for @gentrychild but also for everyone who wants something new to read! and if you’ve read these already, good! always nice to revisit a classic. if you haven’t, also good, you have a new shiny! admittedly i don’t really have any scum villian recs since i have read about 2 chapters of the main story, the airplane extras, and all the fics i do have bookmarked are moshang-related. also all my knowledge about scum villain comes from tumblr, twitter, and tvtropes. and general osmosis of stuff when i come across it. so sorry about that. but i’m sure that there’s folks out there who have some amazing recs, maybe they’ll come forward with them!

https://archiveofourown.org/works/7500495 -new management- inko becomes the dorm mom, and toshinori becomes the dorm dad. cute and funny. dadmight and mamadoriya become parents to 20 children that eventually try to both help them out and also set them up later on. i like how it's a slow progression of the kids going 'wait izuku's mom does a lot for us so we should help out with that' to 'welp we're calling her mom now', and 'we should ask all might for advice!' to 'we're calling him dad too!'

https://archiveofourown.org/series/1926274 izuku plays games with the league- as the title says, izuku plays online games with the league. features the league as family, sorta but not really villain izuku, who just mostly vibes with them. also he kidnaps shoto, who doesn't mind one bit. very silly fic, but also a fun read. has quirkless izuku that goes into management, and is absolutely chaotic good in the sequel, plus dabihawks. the dabihawks is minimal, so if it's not your thing, don't worry about it.

https://archiveofourown.org/works/18775144/chapters/44541997 secondary colors- izuku and shinsou friendship with the added bonus of kouji kouda becoming friends with them when he's trying to help a cat. has dadzawa, dadmic, auntie midnight, 6 cats (soon becomes 7) and a bonus of bakugou facing consequences of sorts. the main focus is on the friendship between izuku, hitoshi, and kouji. has quirkless izuku, and good parent inko, who isn't perfect, but she really tries her best. this is a fluffy slice of life fic that's honestly a good mood lifter.

https://archiveofourown.org/works/22650859i'm having a secret conversation about you with the tiny stars in the pitch-black sky - a 5+1 fic with izuku being the best big brother to eri. 5 times she falls asleep on him, and 1 time he falls asleep on her. very cute, very soft, all the big brother izuku feels. minor shindeku, but not the focus, the relationship with eri and 1-A and izuku is. my heart goes to mush each time i read it.

https://archiveofourown.org/works/19283959 #bakudeku- this is not bakudeku, it's tododeku, and it has todoroki being an absolute little shit about the fact that what seems like half of japan ships bakudeku. he finds it HILARIOUS. izuku doesn't, of course, and regrets everything (no he doesn't). it's funny as hell and makes me laugh so much. best part is izuku proposing and the ensuing fallout. ________________________________________________________________ NEXT UP IS MDZS! https://archiveofourown.org/works/21706573 the cheap, unusual and really terrible guide for matchbreakers (crossover with scum villian) - juniors (mainly jingyi) think wei wuxian is cheating on lan wangji with shen jiu, and follow them everywhere to prove it. the juniors are both a riot and a menace to the cultivation world and i'm here for it. funny fic, has accompanying art. https://archiveofourown.org/works/24707737 attempt the impossible- jiang cheng basically goes 'y'know what i miss my brother, i'm gonna put on my big boy pants and reach out'. featuring yunmeng bros reconciliation, baby whisperer jiang cheng, and wangxian having adopted all these orphans and thus having a whole brood of kids. jiang cheng is an uncle several times over, and has feelings about it. the yungmeng bros reconcilation is just as awkward as it should be considering those two dorks a re terrible at communicating, and yet it works out. https://archiveofourown.org/works/24105214 to yiling laozu the great and venerable- you know those advice columns in the newspapers? this is that, but in ancient china and to wei wuxian (and lan wangji). it's great, he gives very good advice, and apparently loses a look-alike contest where he went as himself. (he lost points for being too tall. go figure.) https://archiveofourown.org/works/21535126 let me come home- slice of life fic, 7 nights of travels on the road. has some bittersweet moments, and wei wuxian being embarrased that people want to gain lan wangji's favor by gaining his. lovely read, and wangxian being themselves, aka ridiculously in love. https://archiveofourown.org/works/21650986 bespoke- by the same author (cafecliche) and its not a sequel, more of an extra scene that didn't make into the above fic, but it also can stand alone. focused more on the juniors being upset on wei wuxian's behalf about the way people treat him, and deciding 'you know what, we're just gonna...make some adjustments to this very convenient list that came with the guest baskets'. cue said list being edited, extra things being delivered to wei wuxian and lan wangji, and wei wuxian getting flustered over it, but also pointing out that he wasn't really bothered by it, but it's different when it's the kids and lan wangji getting offended over it. another lovely read. https://archiveofourown.org/series/1615762 joy in the midst of these things- teacher wei wuxian, which i am SO WEAK for because it's SO GOOD. the premise is that wei wuxian has to look after baby juniors, and when no one comes back to claim them, he eventually starts going over their work with them, which then leads to 'hey let's go practice these talismans' and results in a snowball fight. the baby juniors love it. later parts have him unofficially, then officially teaching them, and they love him all the more. has some bittersweet moments where lan qiren struggles with his feelings about wei wuxian in general, and where wei wuxian struggles with his feelings about his place in the Cloud Recesses and teaching. _______________________________________________________________ AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST, TGCF. https://archiveofourown.org/works/18808807 it takes a village (crossover with mdzs) hualian adopt a young wei wuxian. technically xie lian found him and brought him home, and went 'he can stay with us, it'll be nice to have someone else around' and hua cheng goes 'well alright then, welcome aboard kid'. found family, spread over four seasons. snow ball fights, a visit to ghost city, hua cheng posing as a kid to play with wei wuxian, and wei wuxian growing up. cute, funny, a tad angsty at the end (xie lian's child is growing up! he'll miss him!), and epilogue has wei wuxian bemoaning that he fell in love, send help please, the boy is so cute and he doesn't know what to do. https://archiveofourown.org/works/18493723 the book of love- sick fic where xie lian gets a cold, and hua cheng comes to take care of him. hua cheng's adoration is clear and present. fluffy, set sometime after the mount tonglu opening. nice moments of them connecting. https://archiveofourown.org/works/20913533 dawning- hualian with huli jing!hua cheng. xie lian saves a baby fox (hua cheng) who then remembers the kindness shown over the years, and follows xie lian when he can as he grows up. fic is mostly from hua cheng's pov, but alternates with xie lian's occasionally. brief mentions of animal abuse, but it's minor and mostly related to injuries hua cheng gets in fox form. https://archiveofourown.org/works/21107117 one last kiss on your pillow - role reversal, with calamity!xie lian, and heavenly official!hua cheng. also both are women. short and sweet. doesn't go very far into canon, but it's a nice touch to see. pre-relationship. https://archiveofourown.org/works/21214808 out of reach- post canon, when xie lian is waiting for hua cheng to come back. somewhat angsty, as you can tell xie lian is grieving in his own way. his friends won't let him just sit around and pine though, they all come up with reasons to visit him or drag him out to do things, or he finds reasons to visit ghost city. https://archiveofourown.org/works/20832389 a crown of your choice- fem! hualian, goes through canon up to the marriage proposal. a nice twist on how canon would go with hualian as ladies, and also hua cheng brings up so many good points as to why xie lian should totally marry her. https://archiveofourown.org/works/20671688 convenient, yes, but that's not why they're doing it - a very silly crack fic where heaven decides that they need to broker a marriage alliance with the demon realm, and that since xie lian is low on the pecking order, he’s gotta do it. so they start listing options. xie lian beats them to it, since, well, he’s got his dear friend san lang (aka hua cheng). he proposes, hua cheng accepts, and then cue hualian trolling heaven and having the time of their lives doing so. and done. and if this messes up again i will SCREAM. and then come back and fight with it some more. enjoy!

Searching Ao3 for Izuku with an Animal Quirk always has me treading with caution.

(Ramble about specific Animal Quirk tags. Ya don't haveta read if you don't like long paragraphs and such! I have fic recs at the bottom though!)

Personally, I absolutely love Winged Izuku fics. Mostly because of Hawks and Izuku interactions BUT besides that, it has potential to go abunch of ways from just him having winged. I really like it when the author has him act like bird, because I mean, birds are SO adorable. Same thing with Hawks, him acting like a bird is really cute too.

However, I say that I tread lightly with Animal Quirks, because even though usually Izuku with wings is pretty safe, him having a bunny or a cat quirk (which is INFINITELY CUTER) is MUCH more dangerous.

No tea no shade of course, for if you like anything I dont like. But for me, I stay away from explicit fics and such (which, I know, cuts at least a quarter of the mha fic total). Izuku having a Bunny Quirk, and possibly paired with Bakugou having a Wolf Quirk and BakuDeku is quite the no go if I wanna steer clear of Explicit fics. Though I have stepped my toe in the tag and the ones I've found are so good ("Haigha", for one, and I guesss "Skdaver" but that's a hybrid for Izuku)

Honestly though, maybe I just haven't been looking in the right places. I mean, I barely touch Izuku with a Cat Quirk because Im always worried it'll be like the Bunny Quirk, but now that I'm thinking about it him having a Cat Quirk would be so cute paired with Dadzawa and possibly Sansa? Just some goofy shenanigans. Though from the ones I've seen, they go *way* too into the Acting Like A Cat gimmick, instead of it being subtle, so I guess it's a 50/50 thing? Just have to start looking I suppose!

(I say this because I just read a pretty good fic called "Little Sunshine" it's really cute omg with Dadzawa and Kid Izuku but basically for the whole fic he's a cat. Check it out if you wanna see some good Hurt/Comfort, with Izuku being an emotional support animal)

Anyways lads, maybe I could get some good recommendations of Izuku with Animal Quirks that preferably steer clear from the Explicit side? I'd love ta read em!! Also also, share your ideas too! Whaddya think about the Izuku with an Animal Quirk tag?

it’s january 5th but it’s still the first week of the new year so it counts! [it is now january 16th because i got distracted and forgot, oops]. some of you might remember when i did this last year; for some reason i didn’t just screenshot the “all years” tab, even though i should have because ao3’s year stats are wonky (if you update a fic, regardless of how much of it was posted in previous years, all the stats get dumped in the most recent year).

regardless, adding these together gets our starting stats for 2023!!

and i forgot to order those fics by kudos, so it’s kind of biased toward my longfics in that chart there. my top kudos’d fics are:

wrong place, right time- quirkless!izuku, all might bashy au where aizawa finds him on the roof in episode 2

what’s a god to a non-believer?- direct continuation of the first, lol

hear my name in your silence- fic in the same series except it’s examining hitoshi’s (adopted by erasermic) backstory. of note, these were all posted within a week, so the series spent a lot of time on front pages, filtering wise, and a lot of people were reading the whole series at once, hence similar stats

all systems red- todoroki & dadzawa sickfic and adoption combo meal. this was my first fic to really shoot up there in numbers, really interesting time for me

for you i would cross the line (i would lose my mind)- long bkdk bdsm au, they’re pro heroes dealing with trauma and a scandal. part of my larger FLFverse series

i dont think you can extrapolate much from such a small selection of stats except that getting into a big, active fandom did very big things to my numbers even if most individual fics didn’t get super popular. i think part if it is also just me being more prolific (doubled my works count from the previous two [three] years) and, potentially, Better At Writing.

also the top three are part of the same series and the 5th is a longfic, so they wouldve had more chances to come up on the front page. also, they’re all popular tropes/characters/relationships. go figure!

so what are MY favorite fics from this year, or the ones i think deserve more recognition? well! in no particular order:

march (little!hawks)- is it cheating to list a whole series? a late entry, but i’m having a lot of fun with it. hawks + dabi + age regression, starting out with a secret relationship and quickly taking a hard right into angst through the war arc. i also am just a big fan of all my agere fics but i cant say only those ones! so i’ll leave it at this

and we’ll be alright (revolution lover)- first in a series about trans!izuku and katsuki helping him heal from a shitty ex. one of my first real attempts at smut but also just a really fun cool fic to write.

taxidermy fingerprints, taxonomize your differences- T4T bodyswap ronan/adam fic, like the only non-BNHA this i wrote this year. one track mind, hello. but it’s kind if experimental and very, very weird and i love it a lot. definitely an ode to being trans.

burning through the sky- it’s come to my attention that i write a lot of series, and i’m trying not to just rec my same series over and over. i also do like this one! shinbaku a/b/o au, torturing them by playing with heats and consent. maybe i should write more omegaverse sometime 😳

take off your fragile armor- little 5+1 vashwood thing about vash being clingy and self-sacrificial. i had fun with it and i totally need to write more trigun stuff.

so hopefully at least some people find those stats interesting! feel free to shoot me questions about fics or stats, as per always!

Okay I’ve literally never seen bnha but I’ve read a handful of fics because hehe super hero.. do you have any recs that don’t need. Extensive knowledge of the canon for?

hm, yes! i have a few fics that are considered “canon rewrites” in which its the whole manga/anime rewritten in the form of an au, and fics that dont require much knowledge of canon aside from who the main characters are. ill do the latter for now, but if you want to know more about the canon rewrites you can send me another ask!

Learning Curve- honestly one of my favorites. quirk science, shenanigans, angst, and dadzawa

Phoenix- Avatar State Deku :)

You know that thing where an orchestra swaps instruments, and like, some of them get it right away, but others have no clue what they're doing? This is that but with quirks, two unwilling participants, and also Emotions- YES THATS THE ACTUAL TITLE and its really good. momo and bakugou swap quirks

Through Thick and Thin (and a couple of broken bones)- Monoma copies Deku’s quirk and has a Bad Time

third couch is the charm- todoroki sets three couches on fire, which is three couches too many and takes quirk control classes with Kamimari

Building (up) a hero- i admit that this wont really make sense if you havent watched certain episodes of the anime (since these are minor characters), but its still really REALLY cute and precious so it deserves a spot on the list

All’s Well- Bakugou’s quirk gets supercharged. has the bonus of an alternate ending and a LOT of punched feelings in the gut. literally sobbed reading this.

plants towards the sun (we begin to heal, one by one)- BAKUGOU GOES TO THEARPY. finally.

a wound that never heals (always leaves a scar)- deku gets his memory swapped back to a certain moment, and can’t understand why he’s at UA.

Humans make surprisingly good pillows- FLUFF. deku falls asleep on his friends

i also have a gen fic collection for fics that are similar to these, in which that they have a lot of worldbuilding or solid characterizations. so if you want more there’s always more here!

BNHA/MHA Fic Rec List

I've seen people put some good fic recs up here, so I figured I'd try my hand at it after spending way too much time reading them myself.

A lot of it is Vigilante and/or villain Izuku, most have some form of Dadzawa, and pretty much all of them have at least a little Angst and/or Whump and are on some level an AU, because I'm a slut for that kind of fic.

This is all just personal preference too, so if you are into the above mentioned tropes I would recommend, but I know it's not for everyone.

Also a few of them have ships that I forgot to note down because personally I don’t really pay attention to that kind of thing unless it makes me cringe.

Midoriya is quirkless, but lies about having an analysis quirk so that he can survive in this society. He creates an underground community of people who help each other out and he steals one for all from all might. Things heat up though when All For One enters this dangerous game.

Midoriya is taken at a young age, and returns as a top assassin despite his lack of quirk. This is a story with a great recovery arc, and basically Izuku is a total BAMF assassin without a quirk, and eventually despite all his shortcomings, the first quirkless hero.

Shadow Dance - by EmbraceTheVoid (Verandis) <3

Izuku has an abusive father who is a villain called inferno that breaths fire, he essentially kidnaps him and kills his mother and after All for one gives him a total of 4 quirks, he leaves the LOV and becomes a vigilante and eventual hero with a fan club of emos spawning that confuses the hell out of him because he isn't proud of that stuff at all

Even Heroes need Saving ****

Midoriya is taken at a young age, and trained as an assassin for the LOV, there he does his best to complete his missions but also has a side gig of helping people out and saving lives despite this. Bakugo figures out who he is, Todoroki finds out he's being blackmailed, and they resolve to save him with the help of the police who is pretty split on his alignment. Eventually he saves Iida from Stain and it's all happily ever after until bad writing at the end but we don't have to read that part

Of course, the whole USJ incident makes this harder, when he tweeks his code just a bit to include people trying to kill him, taking their quirks as a last resort, and after All Might, Grand Torino get over their initial suspicions about him and his quirk, they back him up and keep him safe from AFO, because if he ever found out, dear god.

To put it simply, the apocalypse is likely to give you PTSD, even if it hasn't technically happened yet. In his first run, Midoriya Izuku grew up to be the famed illusive Vigilante Viridian in his 30s, made friends with Aizawa and Hizashi, and was forced to watch the world fall to chaos as one of the few survivors to Shigaraki Tomura's Apocalypse. His mission now? Rebuild Project Hope, go back in time, and Kill Shigaraki during the USJ attack. If only it didn't hurt so much to see all of your dead friends alive and trying to help you, knowing they could never be the same people he once knew and trusted during his hardest times.

Midoriya Izuku gets caught up in a near fatal accident when he's young, killing his mother and leaving him blind and with only 8 years left to live. He knows in that slim time frame that he could never achieve his dream, so he becomes the next best thing. He becomes a Vigilante.

A probably the best slow burn tragedy I've ever read. This isn't a redemption arc in the slightest this is just pure self-destructive tragedy as Izuku falls into Villainy to support the people he cares about, at the cost of everything. They say a tragedy is written with a character falling to their flaw, and I've seen it done so far with only things people see as commonly bad. In Macbeth it's Ambition, in the Joker it's reckless insanity, and in many other villains it's just pride and greed. I've never seen it done with kindness or loyalty. I've never seen them use a traditionally good thing in excess, and actually ponder the frightening implications of what happens when this person is just helpless, and watching themselves fall and make bad choices, because what else are they supposed to do?

All while single handedly manipulating both All for One, the league of villains as a whole, and despite being duped hard in the end, also UA. He just wants to help people, but he'll be damned if he doesn't take down a bunch of villains and keep his double life a secret if that's the case. Oh did I mention he becomes UA's most popular Psychologist and miracle worker? Because dude is solving everyone's problems around here and it shows. Also the ending was amazing btw.

Midoriya Izuku's quirk is one he has to keep constantly under wraps, not even his mum knows. It only took one slip up when it first came in to kill 32 people during a stressful situation. Since then the mysterious and dangerous Leviathan hadn't shown up publically since, and Midoriya would very much like to keep it that way. If only he had more control over his quirk, while he was fully transformed, maybe then he'd be the kind of hero who's quirk is more than just growing lizard fins and traits whenever he's feeling anxious. He just has to be a hero, and make it through his years without a single person figuring out what the Leviathan really is.

It's not vigilantism if it's not breaking the law… technically. Basically, Izuku gets crazy strong without the help of a quirk and uses his training in fighting to help people wherever he can. This of course, puts him in contact with a lot of grateful people… also Bakugo gets a redemption arc that starts with fallout that's an absolute nightmare. Also Izuku has anxiety and can't seem to understand why All might of all people has taken an interest in him.

Basically everyone in Izuku's head is screaming all the time as everything turns to chaos while the 3 of them try to manage this absolute mess of a life.

Of course, things get complicated when calling in the heroes doesn't go as planned, and when Izuku is found out and Eraserhead is shot, his father threatens to kill him if he ever sees him again. It's up to Izuku to rebuild his life and keep his mother safe, all while trying to take down his father's business as much as he possibly can. If that involves becoming a vigilante with a really stupid name? So be it. The only thing that really wasn't on his roster though was becoming a pro-hero.

For me, the ending didn't really do it for me, but it was still a really good read regardless.

There are things he can't say and there are things he'd rather not. One of those things is his curse, and the other is the many, many stupid decisions he's made in the past. Of those decisions, these last couple of days have just been the worst haven't they? Fixing quirks at the request of spirits who probably hate him despite it all because he shouldn't exist, and cursing his own inability to just leave it alone when people are in trouble. Even when he knows it’s a trap he can't help but try to help a spirit, can't help but try to fix a hero's quirk, and now he's paying the price. It seems no matter what he does just he can't escape what happened in Kamino Ward.

This was very much inspired by simkirs work, but my god is it worth a read. Elemental did their research, and it's completed, it's got Dadzawa, and it made me bawl my eyes out (which is actually pretty hard to do).

Izuku is powercrawling and learning and lying as a result of this, and it shapes the narrative, but I think it could have been done a lot better. That's just me. It's still really good, but the finale didn't really do it for me.

I really like this fic. It seems simplistic and is lacking a lot in the tags but essentially Midoriya (now in his late teens) is contacted by a government faction for quirk development after it had been revealed that he could potentially have a quirk and they are going to do everything they can to get it out of him. Add to it Amnesiac Bakugo Katsuki, a hidden web of family villains and a huge fear of the ocean and Izuku is in for a rough time.

Almost right after Kamino Izuku is arrested and mistreated in prison after he finds out his father was AFO. After some government corruption and general bigotry he escapes, becomes a fugitive and starts a soup kitchen. The story follows Todoroki, Aizawa, Uraraka, Shinsou, etc. as they try to find their lost friend who they've been endlessly worrying about for years with almost no confirmed details. It's really charming to see everyone reunite despite the difficult situation, and Midoriya despite everything is still very much the cinnamon roll we all know and love and it's just fucking beautiful okay?

This fic is heartbreaking, but it sets up a great and realistic take on what it is like as a mother who is struggling with doing all she can to protect herself, and more importantly her child. I love this fic so much, for all the characters it takes into consideration. Most Dad for one fics are pretty generic when it comes to hand waving to get to the initial premise. A lot of the time it's just the unspoken agreement that he's a bad father and Izuku is dealing with he consequences of trauma, but we don't actually see a lot of the effects it has on other characters like Inko. And I'm going to be honest, this fic absolutely blew me away with amazing writing that only enraptured me an in amazing premise I hadn't and probably wouldn't have considered otherwise..

No Good Deed - by Notsogoodwithwords <3

This fic is perfect for a bad day, 15 chapters of Dadzawa and it's really just so heartwarming. Not overly fluffy by any means, but with so much comfort and the like that it really just made me smile. The Plot centers around Izuku, who's been taken in by Aizawa after he was found bleeding out in a garbage pile in the city after his mother's murder. Kid needs help, and Aizawa isn't sure he's the right person to give it. In fact, he's insistent he isn't the right person, but there is absolutely no way he isn't going to do all he can to make sure this kid is okay again. And I love it so, so much.

A Difference in Perspective (series) - by town_without_heart <3

An absolutely mind blowing fic that had me on the edge of my seat and wanting more. It follows Tsukauchi Naomasa, now reopening a fifteen year old disappearance case of one Midoriya Izuku under the request of the No. 3 Hero Ground Zero. This little mystery though ends up being a lot more than anyone bargained for in the end, because Midoriya Izuku, while staying out of the public eye, managed to change so much of the world without anyone even knowing it.

This is arguably one of the best MHA fics, or screw it, one of the best books I have ever read. Just about every chapter had me on the edge of my seat and desperate for more.

What We Cannot Undo - by Cacid <-@

A ghost Izuku AU that actually works, and nobody is more surprised than me. Cacid really pulled this one off really well, with accurate depictions of depression and guilt and grief that really puts you in the head of the characters. Plot line for this is simple. Izuku Midoriya committed suicide, but it takes some time to remember why exactly he is dead, and more importantly process that he had an invisible quirk all along, all be it with gruesome implications. He becomes a vigilante of sorts, while wandering Musutafu and just idly existing as he is. And in his mind Izuku Midoriya is someone he is ashamed of, because it meant that he threw his life away for nothing. Nothing left to do but put some more distance between himself and his past… if only Aizawa Shouta was not so persistent.

Izuku Midoriya is kidnapped on his way home from school by villains and even after weeks of being in their care, trapped in a small room with nothing but a bed and a toilet, he still has no idea why he was taken or what exactly they want him for. Still, that doesn't stop him from trying to escape every chance he gets, not even the doctor working on him will really answer any of his questions. There is someone else though, trapped there with him. Someone he feels he knows from somewhere, and someone who really needs help.

TL:DR an AU where All Might didn't return from his battle with All For One.

(Another fic that I frequently return to for reasons unknown other than this is a really good fic.)

Dadzawa fic rec list

So lately I’ve been reading a lot of Dadzawa fics so I thought I’d share them with you. I shortened down the summaries of some of the longer ones- I didn’t put them in my own words of course, but I just used the shortened snippets that authors sometimes put at the end of their own longer summaries. They’re in no particular order of greatness, and I tried to get a good blend of popular and less popular ones so here u go.

1) i. shaky hands- rexcorvidae

midoriya has chronic pain, and tries to hide it. aizawa deals with this, and learns something surprising along the way.

One-Shot. Honestly their whole whumptober collection is amazing I would totally read them all if you have the time, they’re pretty much all loaded with great Dadzawa content

2) Not all exits are made Equal- LunaLucrea

When a raid goes wrong, and Aizawa gets taken, he's hardly expecting to be found. He's a professional Underground Hero. He's seen situations like this play out before, and knows how the cards usually fall.

He's got people he'll miss of course, and he feels terrible about what this is going to do to Hizashi and Eri, but these are the types of risks he agreed to when he signed on the dotted line all those years ago. He's ready to accept his fate.

Too bad for him his former students are tenacious little shits.

Three chapters. I love seeing how Aizawa interacts with older Midoriya in the first chapter and how he thinks of all of his former students now that they’re pro heroes, he’s such a proud dad but he’s also so self-deprecating and he needs some love and class 1-A will force it on him. Wholesome, 10/10, but also warning for whump! on Aizawa’s part.

3) To the people we admire- The_ crownless_ queen

Eri learns about autographs, and how they're a way for fans to show they like their heroes. Naturally, she wants all of them — and especially Eraserhead's.

One-Shot. I don’t read many Eri fics but my god, this one is adorable. Eri learns about autographs and wants Aizawa’s but his students know that Aizawa doesn’t really give autographs so they devise a plan to get one out of him- basically by making him jealous of Eri getting autographs from every hero but him. It’s wholesome, Dadzawa is like ‘wtf Eri’, I love it.

4) Inhibitions- Thealmostrhetoricalquestion

Todoroki gets zapped by a Quirk that effectively lowers someone's inhibitions, and Aizawa deals with the strange, humorous, heart-breaking fallout.

The train ride back is something of a nightmare. Not because it goes badly, or because something awful happens, but because Aizawa can’t get rid of this feeling in his chest every time he sees Todoroki’s unusual, carefree smile. He looks like nothing has ever hurt him.

One-Shot. Lol, this one’s funny- Todoroki acts all loopy and carefree and Aizawa is frantically scrambling after him trying to make sure he doesn’t get himself into trouble, all while finding out more than he’d ever thought he’d learn about his student. Good shit, good comedy, good angst.

5) I consider myself lucky- alightintheshadows

For some of us, our teachers are the greatest role models we'll ever have.

One-Shot. Ugh, this is so sappy and kinda cheesy but I love it! Izuku gives his dads All Might and Aizawa gifts because he loves is grateful to them. WHOLESOME SHIT

6) Not in the Job Description- IidaRei98

A collection of drabbles revolving around the Dadazawa and Class 1A. Mostly fluff with some hurt/comfort - whatever pops into my head really!

Incomplete, 56/? Chapters. Solid collection of dadzawa drabbles. I didn’t finish reading them all because I get easily distracted away from long fics, but since it doesn’t follow a plot it’s easy to put down and pick back up when you wanna get your dadzawa fix.

7) passing through fire- achievingelysium

“What happened? A villain?”

“Ye- yeah,” Midoriya croaks. Shouta starts walking.

“I was there,” Shouta says, feeling through the words before he speaks, “but I don’t remember?”

Midoriya closes his eyes.

“No,” he agrees, “you wouldn’t. But- but you... were there. With... me.”

Aizawa finds himself in a street with little memory of how he got there. Then he discovers Midoriya, beaten and bruised, who claims Aizawa protected him—but as Aizawa regains pieces of his memory he realizes Midoriya may be lying, and he's the one who's done his own student harm.

One-Shot. OOH, OUCH, FUCKING LOVE THIS ONE! God I love the Dadzawa ANGST in this! I haven’t seen a dadzawa fic with a plot like this before, so I highly recommend checking this one out, especially if you like ANGST! Love it!

8) a penny for your thoughts- cassiopeia721

While visiting Eri at the hospital following her rescue from the Shie Hassaikai, Izuku and Aizawa-sensei both run into a nurse with a telepathy based quirk, and Izuku finds himself in a telepathic bond with his teacher. This is... somewhat worrying, considering how many secrets Izuku needs to keep.

Six chapters. Yet another Dadzawa fic with a unique concept that I have never come across before. Very good, much angst! My only complaint is I wish Izuku could’ve heard a bit more of Aizawa’s angsty thoughts, the whole thought-hearing did feel a bit one-sided at times, but overall it was a very good fic. The angst of Izuku struggling to keep his many secrets from Aizawa for a whole week was *chef’s kiss* Good dad-son bonding.

9) Geyser- spineless

Izuku faints during class when weeks of sleeping and eating poorly catch up with him. Aizawa, All Might, and his friends, remind him that no matter what he's going through, he doesn't have to do it alone.

Three Chapters. Good Dadzawa being all disapproving of his son Izuku pushing himself too hard and not taking care of himself like he can fucking talk lol. But also some angst cuz Izuku is a tormented boi who has been through too much and is Not OkayTM and his dads are there to help him.

10) The World on His Shoulders- baggytshirtsandtiredeyes

During their second year, Aizawa decides to take some of the students on patrol to give them a taste of the underground hero life. But of course, nothing goes as planned when UA's resident Problem Child is involved.

One-Shot. Izuku is a BAMF and Aizawa is like O.O. I can’t say anything more. This fic deserves more attention.

I'm gonna be not next to a computer for a whole ass week so I won't be able to write any drabbles. (I will be able to answer questions, though, about me or my opinions)

So do entertain yall I made a fic rec list of my favorite MHA stuff. Most of it is probably going to be Dadzawa stuff because I like to read that in a vain attempt to cure my own crippling daddy issues.

Currently in the middle of reading this one. It's become one of my new favs. It's beautifully written by @lexosaurus and takes us on a journey with Danny as he recovers from his trauma indiced by the Guys in White

Alpha Bakugou x Omega Reader

Note: *Crawls out of the AO3 Dadzawa and comfort/angst Izuku hole that I fell into* I have made a mistake! Now I want and need recommendations for new fics and if people need their own recs I have a literal list. But I will be also posting on there when they give me my login. Now enjoy my own version of angst and comfort.

Bakugou had basically moved into your apartment after the depression accident. He heavily scented you and several of your favorite items before long missions and would call you regularly when he had the time. He would have you seated in his lap as he would check emails and you really didn't have to cook for yourself anymore like times before.

You both had become a bonded couple all Bakugou had to do was give you a gift, a tradition that had easily folded into human traditions from the dragons, and give you a new mark. He was even upset when you brought home plushies scented by Mina or Kirishima. He didn't try and take them away from you after the first time he tried. he still was healing from the bite mark.

The dragon had mixed feelings about these developments. He wanted to protect the small and fragile human that his owner had begged him to protect but he also knew that this new alpha was the reincarnation of his owner. So as he knew he couldn't leave his charge and that they would never die as his owner was meant to, he knew that they would end up grieving after the reincarnation died. So both the need and knowledge that the human would be protected and hurt left the old being at a standstill. He let out a frustrated growl as he watched the pair dance in the kitchen that was coved in flour. His omega with a happy light in their eyes that he hadn't seen in centuries, as the alpha spun them in a circle with the look in his eye as the original. The dragon watched as the human that hung his stars and moon laughed and leaned against the alpha that was and wasn't his owner. Frustration did not even begin to describe what he was feeling. He wanted the alpha to leave and stay at the same time. A constant contradiction that weighed on his mind. maybe because of this, he caused the downfall of what was to end in tragedy. He planted a small seed of doubt in the head of the alpha about the bite mark on the omega's shoulder. Just a small question as to who did it belong to. That small seed was supposed to wait and fester in the back of the mind.

Katsuki Bakugou doesn’t have a gentle bone in his body. He’s aggressive in everything he does and does everything with 100% of his heart in it. After the Sport’s Festival, Katsuki starts to get harassed by strangers for his unheroic demeanor. It starts with letters but it doesn’t end there. The moment Katsuki realizes the harassment has entered dangerous territory and he needs to tell someone, it’s already too late.

Part 2: Post Traumatic Life Disorder

When the Dorms are finally built, everyone is settling in well, but things become tense as people begin to realize something isn’t right with the recently rescued Bakugou.

hands down my favorite fic in the fandom right now. it’s the one that converted me into a Bakugou lover. if you have any fondness for Bakugou as a character then it’s likely you’ve read this one already, but if not, I can’t recommend it enough. incredibly depressing, but with the hope that comfort is coming soon in the next few chapters.

The Kids Will Be Alright, Eventually by NotWithThatAttitude

Bakugou is spiraling in the aftermath of Kamino and his friends are starting to notice. He's stubborn, aggressively independent, and less than willing to dig into his past, but after a breakdown that ends with a painful secret revealed, he starts to get help.

Whether he likes it or not.

Meanwhile, a new kind of villain threatens an uneasy peace following the loss of Allmight. Whispers build as a new narrative slowly takes shape:

Hero society needs to change.

Feat. Therapy, Dadzawa, best boy Kirishima, dysfunctional families, healing, growing up, and the mortifying ordeal of being known

guys.. the medical accuracy of this fic is just... *chef’s kiss*

I rarely see mental health genuinely handled well in fics, but this one goes above and beyond. kudos to the author for doing such excellent research into psychology, and making the application of it in here not-boring. also, while this one does have abusive!Mitsuki, it’s done in a way that feels realistic, and how I usually will see it occur in real life, rather than just for the hurt/comfort feels.

fair warning, the fic can be incredibly triggering (themes of severe depression, PTSD, panic attacks, rape survival, abuse survival, suicidal ideation/attempted suicide, among other things), so be safe and heed the tw’s if you decide to read. legitimately one of my Top Favorite fics in this fandom.

Lock and Key by autochorystalize

Bakugou made a choked, gravelly noise before croaking out a low, “You can’t be serious.” His fingers ached to blow up everything in the room.

“I’m sorry, young man, but you can’t change reality! This sometimes happens.” Recovery Girl clicked through his file, adding a new symbol in a previously empty slot.

A pair of eyes discreetly locked on to an explosive blond plowing his way forward, parting people in his path. He recognized the kid, of course. Anyone in the underbelly of society would recognize him, after the publicity of both UA’s Sports Festival and the events leading up to All Might’s fall. The uniform he was wearing cast away any doubts about the young man’s identity.

It was a bit of a surprise that the little firecracker presented as an omega.

Or: there are certain types of evil that seemed too distant, archaic violations and perversions that would never actually threaten bright-eyed heroes-in-training in the clean, modern world...but sometimes those evils aren't as distant as one might think.

remember when I said that I love a/b/o fics that are full of plot and world-building and gender-induced tension? that’s this one. the OC’s are fabulous and you love to hate ‘em. also, it’s the fic that made me fall head-over-heels for the TodoBaku dynamic, so it’s got a special place in my cold, dead heart.

be warned, there are rather explicit non-con scenes between an adult (OC) and a minor (Bakugou) in this one, but the author warns for them in advance, and you could likely skip those parts without missing too much if you need to.

Never and Always, Eventually by Wawa_Boonliang

"Katsuki can remember the exact moment that he and Deku…that he and Midoriya Izuku became friends. He can also remember the moment he and Izuku became fierce rivals, a time when they were almost enemies.

However, what he remembers most clearly about their relationship is the moment that they moved passed rivals and became something more close than mere friends. Something more like brotherhood, something forged in fire and secured in the middle of a battlefield or in the midst of natural disaster where the number of the dead was climbing ever higher. And then it was torn from him."

Katsuki is given a second chance. A chance to save everyone. A chance to change everything.

y’all. I’m a slutty, slutty whore for time travel fics. a time travel fic with autistic!coded Bakugou? it was love at first read.

Lessons Learned by Sif (Rosae)

Rather than the police station, Katsuki's friends bring him to a hospital after rescuing him from the villains. His wounds were minor, but it didn't make having them treated any less important. As it would so happen, Best Jeanist was also brought to this hospital after the attack.

Sometimes, small choices have a big impact on how a story plays out.

classic Bakugou hurt/comfort. this fic opened me up to the potential that could be a genuinely good Best Jeanist & Katsuki mentor-mentee relationship, and I kind of dig it and search ravenously for it in other fics now. I’m also a huge fan of the behind-the-scences Pro Hero Chat group.

Slope by sunfleurmoon

“I’m not a hero. Or a good person,” Katsuki says, giving Aizawa a pointed look, “So leave me alone. I don’t care about the League or UA, or you—” The two years he’s been away have been fine, more than fine, fucking fantastic actually if you ignore the bi-monthly near-death experiences. He doesn’t need this place. He doesn’t miss this place.

And yet, longing, a childish desire to tear up, or maybe blow something to bits, they all twist in his chest like a band of traitors regardless. “—I just want to go home.”

Or: the one where Katsuki and Izuku fail the first term exam, Aizawa discovers their pasts, and Katsuki is booted from UA. Featuring questionable descriptions of villain organizations, a slightly illegal moving shop, and your favorite emotionally constipated badass in distress with a newly discovered penchant for collecting strays.

paaaaaaiiiiiiiin. the hurt is ALIVE in this one. lots of tortured, angsty exploding child goodness. the OC’s are excellently crafted, and the Bakugou & Eri relationship? beautiful. definitely deserves a read.

Ground Zero by WindsChild8178

In the wake of Kamino, Katsuki is tested more than anyone could imagine. Bound by a villain’s quirk to keep his silence or die, he lives each day knowing it might very well be his last. He continues to work towards becoming a hero, keeping his secret from his classmates and teachers, focusing on making it through each day and trying not to allow the panic or depression to get the best of him. When the villain finally corners him with demands in exchange for his life, there is really only one answer Katsuki Bakugou can give.

honestly don't know which I want updated more - social media 101 or ground zero. this author's fics are amazing, and I really wasn't expecting the twist in this one. can't wait for windschild to come back to this fic some day.

But when a real villain appears, a threat from the past that demands that Red Riot make the ultimate sacrifice to keep the public safe, Bakugou is forced into saving the day... and eventually, Red Riot himself.

sob story good guy villains are my weakness, this fic is a gem, and I'd kill for the sequel.

For a single moment, in a millisecond's time, his wild eyes locked with Raccoon Eyes', hers alight with fear and adrenaline-fueled desperation. Somewhere in the back of his mind, he realized that it was the first time she'd looked at him with something other than long-deserved hatred in days.

And then he was free falling.

After a particularly nasty encounter between childhood friends, the class learns about Bakugou and Midoriya's dark history and practically ostracizes Bakugou while trying to defend Midoriya. An earthquake during an outing has all sides regretting their decisions.

For someone ripped from their time, ripped from the few but strong relationships built by time and personal development, by self-reflection and swallowed pride, ripped from the one thing that made him feel worthwhile and needed and put-together, and forced to forge everything over again—Katsuki thinks he is handling it pretty fucking well.

A villain’s quirk sends a 29-year-old Bakugou back in time to his middle school days.

am I a sucker for time travel? yes. am I a sucker for vigilante!bakugou? also yes. am I a sucker for this fic? literally refreshing the page in wait for an update as we speak.

After All-Might dies rescuing Bakugou from the League, Bakugou is determined to prove it wasn't for nothing.

But the world is against him, his grief is overwhelming, and his stability is splitting at the edges.
