(Disclaimer: all of these are hella American and mostly from stuff I watched as a kid in the 90s so I can't speak as to how realistic this would actually have been)

(I'm not sure if she is quite 11 here since she wasn't actually in anything famous in 1997, but it's around that time and was too deliciously in-character for Arya to pass up)

The moon was still black, and Arya found herself so exhausted that she found herself resting while standing.

Her legs began to buckle as she fell into a deeper sleep, and she jolted awake, but all she saw was not a world of darkness, but one bathed in fire and blood, in a wasteland of trees mired in blankets of ice and snow.

She thought it was another wolf dream, but she had two legs, not four, and the night wolf and her pack of little grey cousins were tearing at mindless creatures that reeked of cold and vengeance. The taste filled Arya's mouth, just as it had the wolf's.

Arya had Needle weighing her left hand, and without prompt she bedded it in the skull of one of those creatures, the frost-smell rising from its skin so wrong it nearly made her gag.

"ARYA!" A voice shouted, carrying over the mindless ramblings of the dead and steel biting into their skulls, and a blur of white and crimson emerged in front of her to tear at a creature lurching behind. The man, with his sword made of shadow-smoke and set ablaze with fire-blood, slashed at another creature.

A beat of paired leathern wings kicked up snow and unflinching bodies around them, bathing a lake of undead in flames until their flesh sloughed off like dew in the morning sun, rivulets of fire carving a path through the unnatural army. A great roar echoed like claps of thunder careening across the sky.

"Arya, look at me! We need to get you out of here. You can't be here, little sister, it's not safe!" The man had a long face, red eyes, hair whiter than sunlight. She could only stare at him.

Little sister?

Her eyes widened.

"Jon?!" She asked, hope in her voice. He stared at her curiously, arching then furrowing a white brow. "Seven hells, Jon, I--"

"We don't have time to talk, not yet. Not until the fighting's done." He scanned the skies, tracking the path of two shadowed beasts etched in moonlight dipping back down to earth. The one on the ground was inching closer to them, setting black flames shot with red against the opposition.

"Here!" In a moment, Jon hoisted Arya in his arms and threw her towards the great wyrm. Her hand lashed out, finding purchase on a thick scaly black-red horn at the side of its body.

"But what about you?" I can fight too, she thought. I should be with you. Isn't that why you gave me a sword?

"Command Nymeria from the skies," he replied. "She needs you."

"UNSULLIED!" The woman on back of the dragon called, voice booming. Her silver hair caught the sliver of light as Jon's had, braided but wild. "In formation! Carve through the enemies!"

The beat of their responding feet rumbled the earth, even through the bones of the dragon.

Jon's long white hair streamed behind him, taking a life of its own as he whirled and parried and cleaved with his smoke-dark sword, leaving disintegrating flames on their melting bodies. They seemed to stare at them both and nothing at once, lifeless and unemotional.

"GO!" Jon shouted, Ghost behind him tearing into one of those creatures. Arya wrapped her arms around the woman, clinging to her tightly, jagged nails digging into her. She seemed not to feel it, what with how many furs and skins she wore. On her command, they took to the skies, joining with the other two dragons. On the cream one sat a stunted man with hair almost as pale as his scales, wearing crimson and gold armour that had been polished to such a high sheen that Arya was sure it could reflect in a dragon's eyes.

They were so high up that Arya could see the glowing frost-blue dots of the brutes' unblinking eyes as they shuffled towards them with half-rusted weapons, their clothes in ruinous tatters and shredding off in pieces as they moved.

"Dracarys!" The woman called out and spat, the determined malice surfacing in her voice making Arya shiver.

The High Valyrian word for 'dragonfire.' She had just learned that word, and it was her favourite.

On the word and with responding roars, the three of them nose-dived with three sonorous claps, smoke seeping between their mouths as they poised to launch three towers of flames. Her dark hair flapped in the rush of wind, mingling with her co-rider's silver mane.

There was something else she felt there, buried underneath.

Arya felt...she felt...

Her thoughts were cut off when the trio of dragons opened their wide maws, revealing black diamond teeth sharp as needles, flames of black and gold and orange-and-yellow igniting an oncoming army of mindless creatures. Trees melted as they had, toppling over and trapping others until they ceased squirming, rime frost and shards of broken branches piercing their unfeeling eyes until they were naught but hollow sockets of frozen jelly.

Jon and his men had more than enough space to move forward, Nymeria and Ghost and their little grey cousins and Unsullied and cavalry all working in tandem to push forward. Forward to the dark Heart of Winter.

Arya awoke with a gasp, finding herself once again in darkness. Only a stump of a candle served as her light until it blew to nothing.
