The khal had commanded the handmaid Irri to teach Dany to ride in the Dothraki fashion, but it was the filly who was her real teacher. The horse seemed to know her moods, as if they shared a single mind. With every passing day, Dany felt surer in her seat. The Dothraki were a hard and unsentimental people, and it was not their custom to name their animals, so Dany thought of her only as the silver. She had never loved anything so much.

Daenerys Targaryen in Game of Thrones 1.10: “Fire and Blood”
➳When the fire died at last and the ground became cool enough to walk upon, Ser Jorah Mormont found her amidst the ashes, surrounded by blackened logs and bits of glowing ember and the burnt bones of man and woman and stallion. She was naked, covered with soot, her clothes turned to ash, her beautiful hair all crisped away… yet she was unhurt. The cream-and-gold dragon was suckling at her left breast, the green-and-bronze at the right. Her arms cradled them close. The black-and-scarlet beast was draped across her shoulders, its long sinuous neck coiled under her chin. When it saw Jorah, it raised its head and looked at him with eyes as red as coals. Wordless, the knight fell to his knees. The men of her khas came up behind him. Jhogo was the first to lay his arakh at her feet. “Blood of my Blood,” he murmured, pushing his face to the smoking earth. “Blood of my Blood,” she heard Aggo echo. “Blood of my Blood,” Rakharo shouted. And after them came her handmaids, and then the others, all the Dothraki, men and women and children, and Dany had only to look at their eyes to know that they were hers now, today and tomorrow and forever, hers as they had never been Drogo’s. As Daenerys Targaryen rose to her feet, her black hissed, pale smoke venting from its mouth and nostrils. The other two pulled away from her breasts and added their voices to the call, translucent wings unfolding and stirring the air, and for the first time in hundreds of years, the night came alive with the music of dragons.

got/asoiaf meme ♕ [2/6] costumes | Daenerys Targaryen’s blue dress-tops
The inspiration for Dany’s costumes and their evolution is very much her story. The colour choice was dictated by the fact that the Dothraki precious colour is blue, so as a nod to her role as khaleesi and an acknowledgement of her dead husband and son, it becomes the basis of her palette.
After Qarth, where it was designed so that it felt as though she had made a mistake in her style choices, Dany begins to take on more elements from the Qartheen male style of dress, whilst also adding her own personal twist. The change in her clothing style is partly about her journey of becoming a leader, but also the practicality of it. She has been leading a nomadic life so wearing boots and leather trousers is a necessity. They lend strength to her look, while the shape of the dress-tops helps to create a sense of her femininity.
Many elements were considered when designing these costumes, with the dragon-scale embroidery and the cobra-hood shaped sleeves acknowledgements of both her House and her role as the Mother of Dragons, while also conveying a sense of armour and protection. The embroidery on her costume begins as a subtle texture, but as she increases in power and strength it becomes more elaborate. As Dany grows alongside her dragons, the texture of her dress-tops becomes more embellished, growing down the costume. (Source in the replies)

a queen who bowed to no one,
a queen who had faced them all
and triumphed.
A queen who owned
her body,
her life,
her destiny,
and never apologized for it.

I have spend my life in foreign lands. So many men have tried to kill me, I don't remember all their names. I have been sold like broodmare. I have been chained and betrayed, raped and defiled. Do you know what kept me standing through all those years in exile? Faith. Not in any gods. Not in myths and legends. In myself. In Daenerys Targaryen.
