Other Surrenders in the Pacific conclusion
Surrender on Okinawa In the Ryukyus Islands, things were far more simple than on the Missouri. The senior officer in the Sakishima Gunto, Lt. General Gon Nomi, Toshiro, whose headquarters was on Miyako Shima, had been given authority to conclude a peace treaty for all Army and Navy forces in the Sakishima Gunto, Daito Islands and the islands in the Okinawa Gunto not already under American…

Reveling in Richonne
#173: The Little Brave Man (10x13)
Y’all each member of the Grimes family is such a precious and crucial piece of the family puzzle. And their youngest addition is proof of that cuz RJ makes this family and the Richonne journey so whole. So in Michonne’s final episode, I loved getting to see and hear from our sweet Little Brave Man. 🥰
Tumblr media
@michonnegrimes
So after everything that goes down on that island, Michonne boards a boat to get up out of there. Virgil stays behind which was fine by me lol. The only thing I kinda liked hearing from him is how he wanted to stay on the island because he promised his wife flowers everyday. I liked that it made me think of how committed Rick was to getting his wife whatever she liked be it mints, a cat statue, or a CGI deer lol.
Once she has some privacy on the boat, Michonne is able to sit with that phone and just seeing her emotions over that phone is so moving. Like in the quiet of this moment we’re able to see that in all her strength and warrior-ness this is still a woman who deeply loves and misses her man. I love how much her love for Rick and her emotion over the possibility of reuniting with him radiates just in this one quiet moment.
And again, what makes me extra happy is that she didn’t just find something that indicated that Rick is alive, but something that indicated Rick is alive and longing to be reunited with her. I feel like that contributes to the emotions she lets out in this moment cuz she now knows he’s out there missing her just like she misses him.
I knew wherever Rick was taken to, he wouldn’t go a day without thinking about Michonne so I love that she got this confirmation too.
And then she takes out her walkie and radios her precious children for their final moment together. 😭 And y’all, I love that Michonne and Judith’s codenames are the names of their swords. The cuteness just never stops with them. And it’s fitting cuz, just like Judith’s sword is a mini katana, Judith is a mini Michonne.
It’s sweet to see Michonne’s relief upon hearing her baby’s voice as she expresses how much she missed them both. And then the cuteness reaches maximum levels when RJ takes the walkie from Judith and says “Mama”.
Tumblr media
@michonnegrimes
Our adorable angel. 😇
I love Michonne’s reaction to hearing her son’s cute little voice. 😭 And after all the hell she went through in that trip, you know it feels amazing to hear her children’s voice and be reminded that her reality is far better and far more filled with family than that awful trip. And her smile here is so beautiful and full of joy.
Tumblr media
@michonnegrimes
Judith reminds RJ to use the call signs for safety so RJ calls her Daito and Michonne asks what his name will be. And when he cheerfully says “I’m Little Brave Man” Y’all! Cue my eternal and internal tears. 😭
This moment is toooo precious. 🙌🏽 I love that he chose that name as a nod to his father and this man that he so clearly looks up to even tho he’s never met him.
I know if Rick were to hear that it would melt his entire heart just like it melts Michonne’s heart (and mine 🙋🏽‍♀️). It’s just so adorable that he’d call himself the “little” brave man cuz he is this little kid but he’s also the man in their family too. And he’s like I’m going to be as brave as my dad. And what an amazing sight it would be to see him grow up and truly embody the bravery and power of his parents alongside Judith.
Plus the code name is fitting cuz, just like Judith’s call sign indicates her being a mini Michonne, RJ’s call sign indicates he’s the mini Rick. All I can say is I love me some Grimes family. They are utter perfection. 🙌🏽💯
And again, Michonne’s reaction to hearing RJ say this is gold. Just the way she takes it in, acknowledging that it’s the cutest thing she’s ever heard.
Tumblr media
@michonnegrimes
She says with so much sincerity how she loves the little brave man and I know it has to mean the world to her to hear this kid, that Rick essentially was the first one to bring up in that 9.03 ep, now refer to himself as a little version of Rick. It’s just the best.
If there’s one thing I would have wanted more of in s10 it was Michonne and RJ scenes. They are just so cute together. And I just had to give this post a moment to reflect on this mother and son, cuz while their scenes were few and far between, they were always so sweet and each of their moments always vividly illustrated the love Michonne has for this little angel that her and Rick created. He’s a huge reason why Richonne’s legacy will live on and on.
Michonne adorably refers to him as Little Brave Man when she asks how long RJ has been with his sister and he says Tia Rosita brought him.
Tumblr media
@michonnegrimes
It’s cute that all of TF is Judith and RJ’s Aunts and Uncles. I also was like Little RJ tell your mom about how Tia Rosita had to fight Beta in Michonne’s bedroom after Judith shot him cuz he was all up in your house during an Alexandria attack. That would get Michonne to come home pronto, regardless of phones and boots. 😂
Lol but fr, I love that Michonne asks about how Rosita is doing and cares about what’s happened with the others, even after all the madness that she just had to experience. Michonne asks about how things are going and Judith says that Alpha can’t hurt them anymore which is like technically true cuz Alpha is dead at this point, but things are nowhere near done with the Whisperers.
But upon thinking the Whisperers situation is “handled”, the emotional part of this scene kicks up a notch. Cuz Michonne has received her kids update on what’s going on with them, and now it’s her turn to update them on some groundbreaking news. And with what Michonne has found on this trip, Little Brave Man is now that much closer to finding The Brave Man. Won’t He Do It👌🏽

What kind of hawk is Hawks? PART THREE
Buteo japonicus, (ノスリ, 東方鵟, Eastern buzzard or Japanese buzzard) another buteo, around 50 and 60 cm in length with females usually being larger than the male (taller Female!Hawks ftw).
Tumblr media
there’s 3 subespecies:
Buteo japonicus japonicus. Breeds from Hokkaido to Kyushu(!!!) and winters south to Izu Island and Nansei Shoto (or Ryukyu Islands)
Buteo japonicus oshiroi (ダイトウノスリ).  Daito Island to east of central Ryukyu Islands. According to Brazil (2009), the status of the race B.j. oshiroi is uncertain. (nevermind it says some doubt there’s subspecies since there’s no specimen that serves as reference for the classification, while others think they are probably extinct).
Buteo japonicus toyoshimai (オガサワラノスリ). Endemic to Ogasawara Island.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Poor thing was called “くそとび” (Kusotobi)【×糞×鳶/×糞×鴟 】 ‘cause it was useless for falconry (“kuso” (くそ) as in  糞 “shitty” and “tobi” (とび) I think refers to “鳶、鴟、鵄” or “とんび”, “トビ”, “Milvus migrans”, “black kite” which, in my understanding, is not a hawk despite belonging to the same family so mark me as confused).
(Hawks being called Kusotobi intead of other insults or teasings).
Let’s rate!
Japanese? Hai! (Kyushu!!!)
Red? It’s generally ocherish. The red coloration of the feathers on the back and wings is strong. B.j. oshiroi is smaller, darker, redder and shorter-winged that the other two.
Eyebrows? Not really.
Lovely golden eyes? Nope. Adults have brown eyes while juveniles have pale grey or pale brown eyes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But those are some beautiful eyes anyways.
Vocalization: call given in aerial display, a mewing loud kiiii-kiiii or peeyou may be heard year-round.

The Straightforward Mind Is The Dojo: Zen Saying T-Shirt
Zen T-shirt, with an original hand-brushed calligraphy of the Zen maxim Jiki Shin Kore Dojo, meaning The Straightforward Mind Is The Dojo, that can also be translated as The Straightforward Mind Is The Place Of Practice, The Direct Mind Is The Place Of Enlightenment. The free flowing calligraphy is available in the cursive or semi-cursive style of Japanese calligraphy. This original Aikido saying calligraphy T-shirt makes a unique motivational gift for Zen followers, Buddhists, meditation, Yoga and Martial Arts and Aikido practitioners, a great gift for a birthday or any other special occasion|celebration. The Dawn of Aikido and Morihei Ueshiba Sensei Morihei Ueshiba Aikido is known as the Art of Harmony. Not only Aikido but genuine martial arts are based on a philosophy of peacefulness and reconciliation. To an amateur this affirmation can be hard to accept when you see how Aikido practitioners hit each other at high speed. However it is true, the key principles of aikido and many martial arts are harmony and tranquility. Aikido was created by Morihei Ueshiba, born in Japan in 1883 to a family of farmers. Paradoxically, he was quite weak as a child and youngster and he spend numerous hours reading and on quiet activities. It is said that he even thought about becoming ordained as a Buddhist monk. It is quite fantastic that he later created a series of Japanese martial arts. It isn’t how you would envision the founder  of the popular Aikido martial arts. Despite everything, Morihei Ueshiba came from a lineage of samurais and his father would tell him frequently about the deeds  and bravery of his granddad. Ueshiba's father was into politics and one day he saw how the followers of a rival political group assaulted his father. That same day he decided to work on his body . He learned jujitsu and judo, among other martial arts, but he didn't really make them his own for several years. At the time, the early 1900s, he was a foot soldier in the Japanese armed forces and he showed such potential that he was recommended for the Military Academy. Even so, he quit the army and went back to the family farm. In 1912 he moved with his wife to Hokkaido, an island in the north of Japan. Morihei Ueshiba's aikido took inspiration from previous martial arts training from Japan. One of them was Daito-ryu Aiki Jutsu, which he learned in earnest with sensei Takeda Sokaku in Hokkaido. It was at that time and with Takeda as his teacher that Ueshiba began taking the study and training of martial arts seriously. After Morihei Ueshiba left Hokkaido, he got to know Onisaburo Deguchi who taught him the Omoto-kyo religious practice based on traditional Shinto. Deguchi's pacifism and his spirituality made a crucial impact on Ueshiba. This would contribute greatly to the spiritual philosophy of Aikido. Uesiba created the Aikido martial arts between 1925 and 1942 and gave it several names. During these years, he had some spiritual experiences and grasped  that the true goal of a genuine warrior wasn't to defeat the enemy but to prevent slaughter. In 1942, he moved to Iwama from Tokyo and opened a dojo and the Aiki Shrine. He began calling his practice Aikido for the first time. Aikido is often translated as The Way of the Harmonious Spirit, The Way of Unifying with Life Energy or Ki. He taught the Aikido martial art for approximately twenty years and he became known as O Sensei, which means Great Teacher or Great Master. Despitehis pacifism the Japanese government decorated him a few times. Before his passing in 1969 Aikido had already expanded to Europe, Australia and the US. Nowadays Morihei Ueshiba's Aikido, or the Art of Peace, is practiced throughout the world. Ueshiba devised a method that has helped a lot of people across the world. Some decades after his passing, Aikido practitioners still consider him their supreme teacher, their greatest master, their incomparable Sensei.

Strangely, he was quite frail as a child and youngster and he spend numerous hours reading and on quiet activities. It is said that he even contemplated becoming ordained as a Buddhist monk. It is quite remarkable that he later established a series of Japanese martial arts. It isn’t how you would imagine the founder  of the popular Aikido martial arts. Regardless, Morihei Ueshiba came from a heritage of samurais and his father would tell him frequently about the deeds  and courage of his grandfather. Ueshiba's father was engaged in politics and one day he saw how the supporters of a rival political group beat his father up. That same day he decided to work on his physical condition . He studied jujitsu and judo, among other martial arts, but he didn't really make them his own for several years. At the time, the early 1900s, he was an infantryman in the Japanese armed forces and he displayed such capabilities that he was recommended for the Military Academy. Nonetheless, he quit the armed forces and went back to the family farm. In 1912 he relocated with his wife to Hokkaido, an island in the north of Japan. Morihei Ueshiba's aikido has many influences of older martial arts practices from Japan. One of them was Daito-ryu Aiki Jutsu, which he learned seriously with sensei Takeda Sokaku in Hokkaido. It was at this point and with Takeda as his teacher that Ueshiba started taking the study and practice of martial arts seriously. After Morihei Ueshiba departed from the northern island of Hokkaido, he got to know Onisaburo Deguchi who taught him the Omoto-kyo religious practice derived from traditional Shinto. Deguchi's pacifism and his spirituality made a significant effect on Ueshiba. This would contribute greatly to the spiritual principles of Aikido. Uesiba created the Aikido martial arts between 1925 and 1942 and gave it different names. During these years, he had several spiritual experiences and realized  that the true goal of a true warrior wasn't to defeat the enemy but to prevent killing. In 1942, he moved to Iwama from Tokyo and started a dojo and the Aiki Shrine. He started calling his practice Aikido for the first time. Aikido is often rendered as The Way of the Harmonious Spirit, The Way of Unifying with Life Energy or Ki. He taught the Aikido martial art for approximately twenty years and he became known as O Sensei, which means Great Teacher or Great Master. Despitehis pacifism the Japanese government decorated him several times. Before his passing in 1969 Aikido had already expanded to Europe, Australia and the United States. Nowadays Morihei Ueshiba's Aikido, or the Art of Peace, is practiced all over the world. Ueshiba developed a system that has assisted innumerable people all over the world. A number of decades after his death, Aikido practitioners still see him as their supreme teacher, their Sensei, their master.
