hi xiao!! I loved your 6th member soobin fic can you do one with beomgyu if that’s okay I love your writing already:))
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
pairing: sick!beomgyu x gn!6th member!reader genre: fluff, sickfic word count: 497
a/n: thank you so much for requesting !! it means so much to me that you like my writing :)) i hope you like it
you kneel down next to the couch where beomgyu is sleeping, brushing his bangs out of his face. you press the back of your hand against his forehead. it’s still warm, meaning his fever is still bad. beomgyu stirs a little at the touch before you move your hand down to his shoulder, gently shaking him awake. he blinks lazily at you, groaning and trying to hide his face away into his blanket.
“gyu,” you chuckle. “come on, i made you dakjuk.” beomgyu moves the blanket away from his face, looking at you.
“really?” you nod. he shifts so that he’s sitting up, keeping the blanket wrapped around himself. “thank you.”
he turns to the side to lean back against the arm of the couch, making room for you to sit on the other side facing him. you hold the warm bowl in your hands as beomgyu leans forward, silently awaiting you to feed it to him. you laugh, shaking your head. beomgyu pouts at you. “come on y/n, please?”
his face is a little flushed as he looks at you, though you’re not sure if it’s because he’s flustered or because of the fever. big eyes blink at you, silently begging for you to do the work of feeding him. you let out a dramatic sigh, holding out a spoonful. “i can never say no to you, you know that,” you murmur, blowing on it for a second. beomgyu’s face lights up as he excitedly moves closer. he eats it slowly, smiling to himself.
“it’s good,” he whispers, eating another bite.
you hum. “i’m glad.”
“i’m sorry you had to stay home to take care of me,” he says. “i know you had vocal practice today.”
“don’t be. i’m glad i got to take care of you.” you set the bowl aside, pulling the blanket that threatens to fall from his shoulders.
“stay?” beomgyu whispers. despite knowing how small the couch is, you nod, letting him make himself comfortable before wedging yourself onto the edge. beomgyu throws his blanket over you, pulling you closer to his body. he yawns, burying his face into your chest. you bring a hand up to play with his hair, gently tugging at some of the knots in an attempt to brush them out. “i love you y/n,” he whispers.
“love you too.”
“no,” beomgyu says, looking up at you. “i love you.” his face is flushed when he looks up at you, blush spreading from his cheeks onto the tips of his ears. your body stiffens for a few seconds before you move your hand to his cheek, rubbing your thumb against the smooth skin. you press a kiss to his forehead.
“i love you too, gyu.”
“can i kiss you?”
you bite back a smile. “maybe when you’re better.” beomgyu’s pout returns before you sigh, giving in. “alright, fine,” you lift his head a little before pressing your lips against his for a few seconds in a sweet kiss.

sick
You saw him on a radio show broadcast looking tired and sick. You're worried.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
genre: comfort + fluff + angst (just a little bit). pairing: changkyun x !gen reader warnings: it's based on a real radio show appearance back in 2021. not proofread.
~
You hear him cough even before opening the door of the small apartment, you hear him come in dragging his feet while holding a sneeze, you hear him remove his winter jacket, his sneakers and the bag he carry on him as if everything weighed a thousand pounds, dropping the stuff on the floor carelessly, you hear him sigh, a really tired sigh.
It's almost 4 in the morning.
Before even thinking to announce that he is back, you greet him relieved that he was able to return home to rest for a few hours before having to go back to fulfill that tight schedule that his job entails. Between those late late dance practices, the endless shows and presentations, the stages and the unhealthy diet you are very aware that comebacks can be brutal.
"I saw you on the radio show this morning ... I sent a very angry message to your manager" you confess without shame. You see how his face lightens despite those deep dark circles on his face and although he hides behind those long fringes, you see how his features soften and he smiles a little.
"No wonder why he was so tense and nervous”.
Your features also soften and you come close to give him a hug, one he doesn't deny, he hides his face in the crook of your neck and you can feel the coldness of his body temperature, as if he hadn't just taken off a padded jacket a few moments ago. You gently rub his back and run your hand through his straight hair while you feel him embrace you in his arms a little more... suddenly you feel him abruptly pull away, almost as if you had burned him.
“Wait, I'm very sick, I don't want you to get si-..."
“Oh shut up, I don’t care” you see how he opens his mouth to reply but instead a sneeze came out and now he has no choice but to surrender.
"I know it's 4 in the morning but I did dakjuk, I think it’ll help you feel better and then you could take a bath but I don't know how long you are staying here, actually I don't know if it's better if you go straight to bed and sleep for more hours" ideas pile up in your mouth as you head to the kitchen followed by the sound of him dragging his feet, you hear him laugh almost like a sigh.
"They gave me half a day, something like that”.
You sigh in pure frustration, half a day is no time to recover from a flu this strong, the memory of him leaning his forehead on the radio show microphone crosses your mind, you were going to turn around to complain about everything when you feel him hugging you from behind and now resting his forehead on your shoulder.
"You shouldn't have cooked anything" he tells you in a muffled voice, his mouth pressed against your shoulder. Finally, you let yourself go and grab his hand with which he is holding you firmly by the waist. He looks so tired, you understand that the last thing you’d want if you were on his shoes is to hear complaints, no matter how right they are.
“I’m sorry for complaining so much, it’s just… I was really worried when I saw you like that in the morning, I'm happy that you’re here to rest a little” your voice is almost inaudible, but you don't let go of his hand and he doesn't break his hold.
"I love you".
You smile and close your eyes, the sound of the kettle with boiling water starts to fill the room.
"I love you too, Changkyun".

Anything for You
Tumblr media
unnamed member x reader with chronic pain
Part of the Hold Me Together series
Summary: Chronic stomach pain is a bitch, and he feels terrible that you have to deal with it. But he'll do anything to help you feel better. Genre: fluff, caretaking, established relationship Word Count: 652 Notes: thank you to @daesukiii for the banner
Tumblr media
He can tell by the sound of the door shutting that it’s been a rough day. The light groan that escapes your lips as you toe off your shoes helps to clue him in on exactly what’s wrong. And as you pass through the kitchen, arm held over your stomach protectively, he knows. Gently, he kisses the side of your head as you make your way past and watches as you disappear down the hall and into the bedroom, presumably to change into something more comfortable.
It takes only the briefest of minutes to put dinner into containers and stash them away in the fridge. The noodles are always better on the second day, anyway, and the pork will be easy enough to re-heat on the grill. He glances back the hall, checking to see if you’ve emerged from the bedroom yet, but when he sees that you haven’t, he sets to work filling up the kettle and pulling ingredients out of the fridge.
Normally, dakjuk is a multi-hour process of making chicken stock and properly preparing rice. But a few months back, his mother had told him a few special secrets, and now, he’s got a quick and dirty porridge recipe on lock.
The pan on the stove is boiling and he’s washing the dishes when you finally return to the kitchen.
“What’s wrong, jagi?” he coos, drying his hands quickly before beckoning you toward him.
You comply, your movements careful and pained. When he pulls you in for a hug, you melt against him, arms immediately wrapping around his waist. “I ate lunch,” you grumble, words muffled by how deeply you have managed to burrow into his shoulder. “Tomatoes,” you say, answering a question he hadn’t even asked yet.
He hums and rubs your back. Tomatoes again. Maybe the acid is affecting you? It had been cucumbers last week, so maybe…
Maybe it should go on the list for your doctor.
The kettle whistles, and he pulls away to turn off the burner. You pour your own water, opening the packet of instant ginger tea with your teeth. You lean against the counter, slowly stirring your tea as you watch him check the porridge. Steam rises from the pot when he takes the lid off and stirs the rice and chicken. He breathes deeply–it smells amazing, like chicken and spices and vegetables. He only hopes that it doesn’t make you feel worse.
He dishes out two bowls of dakjuk, one a little more full than the other, and allows you to lead the way into the living room. You get comfortable, a pillow in your lap and your legs draped across his own. He turns on the tv, pulling up the series you’d been binging and plays the next episode. You lean heavily against the back cushion of the couch.
You eat so slowly that he’s pretty sure that your dakjuk is cold when you finally lean over to sit the bowl on the coffee table beside his. Normally, he’d say something about you not finishing even the small portion he’d given you. But you look exhausted and it’s clear that you feel like shit, so he simply opens his arm up and welcomes you in when you practically fall into his side.
He can’t always be here for you like this, when your stomach hurts and you just need someone to be there and lend a sympathetic ear and baby you a little. He wishes he could, but life gets in the way sometimes. So he does what he can when he can, and he’s got your next appointment with the GI doctor marked on his calendar so he can take off. Chronic illness like this is exhausting, and he’s seen you get discouraged and not advocate for yourself when you need to.
He’ll gladly take that on for you, when he can.
He’ll gladly do anything for you.

My Darling // Sick!Changbin x Reader
Tumblr media
Because of the announcement we have received regarding Bin's physical state i have taken it upon myself to send love this way because i am devastated for him (╥﹏╥) get well soon bin-ah
Tags: Fluff, Caretaking, Sickness (a cold), Est. Relationship, Masked Kisses, Gratuitous use of 'Baby'
Disclaimer: mention of sweat and phlegm, mentions of food and cooking, implied that reader is a professional chef, intercourse implication, word 'sex' is used, divider used is by: @emptypetal
Chan opens the door for you upon your insistent knocking like your boyfriend is about to die. "Oh god, I thought you were about to break the door down," he sighs out of relief and exhaustion.
"Where is he, is he okay?"
"I think he caught it from the gym," he informs while observing the large plastic bag in your arms. It was filled to the brim with fresh and raw ingredients for chicken noodle soup and dakjuk, one of his comfort foods. "Is that so?" you sigh with a disheartened tone, you knew it couldn't be helped. He loved going to the gym and it made him feel good so you weren't one to stop him. And now not only was he missing out on seeing STAYs and doing the job he loves, he probably won't be able to go for several weeks.
Chan hands you a mask as you unpack the food you bought, knowing that there is nothing in the fridge aside from Jisung's cheesecake and Hyunjin's frozen fish cakes and tteokbokki mix.
"Listen, we really hate to leave him here but our flight to China is tomorrow," Chan explains while you wash the chicken and find a container you could place it in, "And we wouldn't wanna over impose on your presence but...would you mind nursing Bin?"
"Why wouldn't I mind?" you look up at him with an inquiring look, his 'leader concerned brows' finally settling down. "It's not that I don't have trust in the company to take care of him, but I think you do it best,"
You nod, "Don't worry about it Chan, I got it covered,"
Tumblr media
You knock on Changbin's door, a weak grunt audible before you push your mask up properly and smile at the figure cuddled up in bed. The room is slightly dark, only illuminated by a lamp on his working desk. He's laid out straight, probably not able to move a lot as you carry in the tray of dakjuk, the aroma smelling great but you know Changbin couldn't smell a lot right now—its a bit disheartening because you know Bin loves the scent of food. "Hello baby," you softly smile at him as he smiles despite his reddening face and the cooling patch on his forehead. "Hey," he coarsely greets.
You set the tray on his nightstand before assisting him to sit up against the bed frame, adding a pillow on his back for support before he sniffles. "My baby got sick," your brows knit together in concern while brushing his curls away from his eyes as he closes them. "I know," he whines before you take the thermometer from his nightstand drawer.
"Let's take your temperature," you inform before pressing the button to turn it on, pressing the temperature gun near his temple before it flashes a digital 38.8°C. "What was your temperature a while ago?" you ask him before he turns to you, "39 degrees, what's it now?"
You sigh out in relief.
"Good, it got lower. It's 38.8 now,"
He hums in response before you keep the thermometer, taking the tray and placing it across your thighs before you hand him a glass of cold water. "You want me to feed you?"
"Please," he groans and cracks his eyes open, frowning further upon seeing your mask, as if remembering that he can get you sick and you still decided to stay for him anyway. "Thank you, babe. For cooking," he rasps out while clearing his throat. The phlegm was slightly audible but that didn't deter you.
"Anything for you," you kindly smile before taking a spoonful of porridge and gently inching it near Changbin's lips, "Blow on it first baby, it's kinda hot,"
"Like you?" he manages to insert, making you roll your eyes and shake your head with an endeared smile. He puffs on his food a bit before deeming it enough to slurp on. He munches on it slightly, assuming you got chicken caught up in the spoonful, and while you observe him he frowns. "I can't taste it properly baby, I think my tongue is broken," he sighs in disappointment.
You chuckle at him, placing the spoon back into the bowl for a second serving. "Don't worry, when you get well I'll cook something fancier for you," you assure him with a hand to his knee. He nods at the compromise before opening his mouth once more, quietly asking for another spoonful as you gladly feed him until the bowl is empty.
Tumblr media
You look up at the clock hung up in the 3RETCHA living room, flashing '10:30' in red LED before you get up and pause the show you're watching. Deciding that it was time Bin changed his clothes, you grab a basin full of water and one of the clean hand towels Chan left you. You quietly pad through the threshold of the apartment, now quiet without the other three residents. You knock on Bin's door quietly before peering your head inside. He's now laid down sideways, seemingly well enough to scroll through his phone. "Hey baby," you make yourself known as he lifts his head up a bit before you make your way in, putting on your mask as you do so. "Whatcha doing over there?" you ask before setting the basin down on his nightstand. "I miss the STAYs, I can see their get well wishes to me," he explains before getting up slowly. "Your body ache any better now?"
"I can kinda move now my arms are on fire," he grunts before looking up at you, "Baby, hug me?"
"After we wipe you down," you beckon to the basin, a scowl meeting you. "Baby, you don't have to. I can do it myself,"
"Nope. Besides what are you shy about now," you chuckle before pulling your sleeves up, grabbing the towel, and wringing it free of water. "Let me,"
"You're an angel, you know that?" he comments, and you're not sure if it's the fever or embarrassment making his ears and neck pink. You smile and help him off his shirt, "Oh come on, you also do this for me," you reply while gently wiping the sweat off his broad and muscular back, soft to the touch.
"This and that are different tho," you can hear his cute frown in his tone, "That's sex, this is sickness. It's grosser,"
You laugh while wiping his arms gently, making sure the pressure you apply doesn't make his body pain worse, "Well, I don't care and don't mind. My Binnie is my Binnie regardless,"
An embarrassed noise escapes his mouth, unable to bury his face in his hands. Both of you relish in the silence after, the cool water bringing comfort to his hot and sticky skin. After wiping him dry you help him into a new shirt, and you gently peel off the cooling patch off his forehead. "Where do you keep your facial wipes?" you ask.
"The vanity drawer, right side,"
Nodding you head to his vanity area which is simply a smaller desk and a mirror aligned with the stool tucked under. You obtain the wipes and get back to him, wiping his sweat off his face, observing his features carefully as you go.
"Don't look at me like that baby, I'm trying really hard not to kiss you," he whines while placing his arm atop your thigh. You raise your brow in inquiry, "What do you mean?"
"Like you love me so much. Keep on doing that I might get the wrong idea," he half-jokes, making you smile fully in slight bashfulness. "I do love you too much," you dispose of the facial wipe before peeling a new cooling patch for him. You put on the patch, his body relaxing with the coolness before you lean down and press your masked lips against his exposed ones.
You pull away quick enough and you see his shocked face, making you giggle. "Baby!" he scolds, "You could get sick! Change it now,"
"I will baby, don't worry," you chuckle before pressing one more kiss on his lips, then on his patched-up forehead. "You owe me kisses when you get better,"
"Yeah you can count on it," he squeezes your hand gently as if holding himself back from requesting that you kiss him out of the mask. "Now go change your mask before I lose my damn mind Y/N L/N,"
A laugh escapes you. "Alright, just text me if you need anything okay? I'll be right out,"
He nods before you take the basin and trash bin out, disposing of the paraphernalia along with chucking your mask in the trash.

Tumblr media Tumblr media
It had been three days since you had stumbled across the scene that split your heart into two.
You were on your way to surprise your sick boyfriend, freshly cooked Dakjuk in Tupperware containers in your arms as you struggled to put in the spare key to his apartment, the one he had given you on your one-year anniversary.
Your blood ran cold as you made it to the kitchen, silently putting down the containers as soft flirty giggles from a foreign source echoed around the apartment, followed by your partner’s flirtatious compliments.
Compliments that you hadn’t received in months.
You felt your stomach flip, the situation sinking in. Without processing what you were doing, your feet carried you out of the kitchen, down the darkened hallway to your partner’s bedroom door which was emitting a haze of light out of the slightly ajar door.
The giggles, hushed whispers and sounds of betrayal growing louder the closer you got to the door frame.
Things hadn’t been right within your relationship lately. Your partner had grown distant, making excuses for you not to come over and even ignoring your text messages for extended periods of time.
You yourself had fallen out of love with him roughly two months ago, slowly growing irritated with his behaviour toward you and knowing you would never receive the love from him that you so desperately wanted. Even though you felt this way, you stayed because he was still your friend and it was convenient, you’d been together for just past two years now, you didn’t know anything but him.
As you stared at the opening, the voices were becoming unbearable, you weren’t mad that he was cheating on you, you were mad that even though you felt the disconnection too, you would never even think to cheat on him.
You threw the door open with a sudden burst of anger, tears stinging your eyes as the two people who would betray you the most in your life flung themselves away from each other.
“Y/N! I can explain!” he tried to reason with you rushing to you with tears in his own eyes.
How could he possibly be crying right now.
Anger raging through your veins you shoved him as hard as you could away from you and ran from the apartment you once considered your second home and never looked back.
You ran through the rain, all the way back to your own apartment sprinting into your room and hiding away under the covers.
You were regretting running home in the rain that night as you were now sick with the flu. You hadn’t slept well and had eaten only a few meals, that you could barely even call meals. The memories from the last two years flooding your mind, making your body heavy with sadness, thoughts running wild of what you could have done differently to prevent what happened from happening.
You had never felt more betrayed in your life.
Tears were dried stale on your cheeks, your hair tangled messy and unkept after days of tossing and turning in your bed only leaving the comfort of the sheets when you absolutely needed to.
A loud banging noise rang out through your apartment snapping you out of the past.
You thought through the potential options of who it could be at the door, but you were not motivated to get up and see, nor did you have the energy to have a conversation with anyone.
The knocking ceased shortly after, so you assumed whoever it was had given up and left. You sniffled and let out a loud cough, your throat dry and sore.
Upon the realisation of how sore you felt physically and mentally you couldn’t stop the tears from reforming in your eyes and spilling out onto your cheeks.
“Y/N?” You heard your best friend Chan’s voice call from your bedroom door, “Sorry to show up unannounced, I used the spare key under the door mat, I was really worried about-”
Chan stopped midsentence once you had slowly rolled over in your bed to look at your friend in the doorway, his face fell at the sight of you, concern covering his features instantly as he rushed over to your bed side.
“Love, what’s going on?” He said softly using the nickname he reserved for you in situations such as this. He knelt next to the bed and reached over to hold your hand gently, like it would turn to ash if he held it too tightly.
You went to speak through your sobs, but your throat wouldn’t allow you to form words.
“Let me get you some water, then we will talk.” Chan said with a worried tone, he rubbed his thumb a few times over the back of your hand in his before he stood up and exited your room.
He reappeared quickly handing you the glass of water, you sipped letting the cool liquid trickle down your throat.
“Better?” He asked leaning forward to tuck a strand of your tangled hair behind your ear. You nodded in response sucking in a breath trying to hold back a fresh wave of tears.
“He cheated on me Chan.” You choked out looking down at your lap feeling ashamed and embarrassed.
“He did what?!” Chan questioned shocked, tensing up beside you, becoming outraged at what he had just heard you say.
How could anyone cheat on you he thought to himself, you were perfect. Unknown to you, Chan had feelings for you, he was down bad.
It was one year into your relationship with your ex that he realised how he felt for you. He sat on the side lines watching your ex treat you appallingly. He would listen to you get excited over your ex doing the bare minimum and complain silently to himself about how he longed to be the one you were with, so he could finally show you how a real man should treat you.
Chan’s skin was hot with anger, the steam was practically dripping off him and you reached out your hand to grip his wrist in a weak attempt to keep him by your side.
“Please…don’t…” You shook your head trying to explain to him that right now all you needed was him to stay with you, to comfort you, the last thing you wanted was for him to get angry and rush off to yell at your ex.
Chan let out a sigh, letting his anger expel from him with it and focused on what was more important, making sure you were okay and taken care of.
“I won’t, it’s okay” Chan soothed finally climbing onto your bed next to you and pulling your limp sick body into his arms.
You groaned at the ache of your muscles, but snuggled into Chan’s chest, grateful for the warmth it was emitting and you could feel your energy starting to recharge.
Chan found his fingers in your hair delicately running them through the strands, trying to untangle it.
“Do you want to talk about it, or did you want to rest first?” He asked you as he felt you relax and hear that your breathing had slowed, indicating to him you were sleepy.
“Sleep first” you whispered gripping on to Chan’s shirt tightly, begging Chan “please don’t leave.”
“Of course, I won’t love, I’m not going anywhere.” Chan got under the covers next to you, lying you down on his chest, wrapping his arms securely around you, rubbing comfortingly up and down your back and humming a soft tune to lull you to sleep.
Even though you felt better being in Chan’s arms and you were extremely thankful he had thought to come and check on you, the memories of when things were good with your ex kept dancing around in your mind taunting you, when suddenly the scenes would change to you discovering him cheating.
Tears were still flowing down your cheeks and pooling onto Chan’s shirt, but your eyes had grown heavy and Chan’ soft humming was calming you and you felt yourself slip into sleep.
You woke up hours later the sun no longer peaking though your closed blinds.
You groaned fluttering your eyes open, reaching to feel the space next to you on the bed, it was empty. Chan was no longer with you startling you into a sitting position, you looked around your room.
Your room was tidier, clothes that were once scattered over your floor, had been folded and put away, a fresh glass of water was on the side table with cold and flu tablets placed next to it and the smell of something good cooking in the kitchen filled your nostrils.
You smiled to yourself as you took the glass of water into your hands and took the tablets Chan had left for you.
You didn’t know what you would do without Chan, but you were so grateful he was apart of your life. He always took such good care of you, was always kind and you had fondness for the way he treated not just you, but everyone else around him.
Chan was the definition of a great guy. Nothing like your ex who could only ever care for himself.
You looked around for your phone which you had turned off as soon as you got home that night. Spotting it on the floor on the opposite side of the bed, you wriggled over, picked it up and turned it on.
As soon as the phone switched on it buzzed and chimed repeatedly over and over again as missed calls, voice messages and texts spammed from your ex that stopped as of yesterday, but the phone kept buzzing.
Messages, missed calls and a few voice notes from Chan came through.
Most of the messages were asking if you were okay, or asking if you wanted to catch up, when those went unanswered Chan had attempted to call you a few times, then voice messages were sent, the last one being sent around 9am this morning.
You glanced at the time in the top right corner of the screen. 7:32pm the phone’s time read, which meant Chan must have sent the last voice message before he arrived at yours this morning, which also meant you had just slept for eleven hours!
You opened the first voice message and put the phone up to your ear to listen. Chan’s voice came through your phone’s speaker sounding desperate and extremely concerned as he said,
“Y/N I am so worried about you, please answer my texts, we don’t have to talk if you don’t want to or aren’t ready, but please let me know you’re okay, I care about you.”
Upon that voice note being unanswered, another one was sent half an hour later with Chan’s tone sounding sadder and urgent.
“I called ‘Y/Ex/N’ this morning and he told me you broke up. I am seriously so worried about you Y/N; this is the second day I’ve heard nothing from you. Tell me you’re okay”
And finally you played the last voice message, Chan’s voice was now cracking and he sounded like he was holding back tears.
“I’m coming over, you better be okay Y/N and haven’t done anything stupid. I love you, please hold on, I won’t be long love.”
You felt awful, you didn’t mean for Chan to get so worried about you, you just wanted some time to recover from your sickness and heartbreak. You were planning on reaching out to Chan once you felt better, but you saw now that you should have just contacted him that night.
“Hey love, how are you feeling?” Chan called from the doorway once again giving you a sense of déjà vu.
You smiled small at him feeling guilty. Chan sighed reading your features, he knew you too well and judging by the fact you had your phone to your ear, you probably listened to his voice messages.
“I’m so sorry, I didn’t mean to-” You went to apologise for making Chan worry but he cut you off instantly coming over to you and giving you a warm hug.
“Don’t you dare apologise. I just wanted to know you were safe, which I know now, so everything is okay.” He said firmly pulling back from the hug to look into your eyes to make sure you knew he wasn’t mad for accidentally ignoring him.
“Thank you Channie, for everything.” And you meant it. Chan really was the best friend you could ever have. You couldn’t list one other person that would treat you as amazing as Chan did.
“You are very welcome, Y/N.” Chan smiled placing a quick peck to your forehead, before standing and pulling you up with him.
“Now I have cooked us some dinner and I won’t take no for an answer, you won’t get better unless you eat a proper meal.” He clapped his hands together leading you out of the room and into the kitchen where he had plated up your dinner.
You nodded and sat down feeling hunger gurgle, becoming very aware of your empty stomach.
“Seriously Channie, I won’t ever be able to thank you for everything you do for me.” You said looking into his eyes to show him you meant what you were saying before diving into your food, too delicious to hold yourself back.
“You thank me in more ways than you know love.” Chan smiled fondly at you as he too began to eat his meal.
While you ate, you explained to Chan what had happened that night and the after math of it all. You spoke about how you were feeling and discussed Chan helping you clear out your ex’s stuff from your apartment.
As the conversation died down as you both were finishing your meals, Chan became lost to his thoughts of how gorgeous you were. How even in your debatable worst state you had never looked so beautiful.
He wished he could kiss every inch of your face to make you giggle so much you would forget that tears had ever fallen from your loving eyes. Chan felt overwhelmed with his feelings that he had to excuse himself to the bathroom to stop him from blurting out how he felt right then and there.
There was a time and place for everything, and right now with you freshly broken up with your ex, cheeks stained with dried up tears and sickness filled lungs was not the time for him to confess how he truly felt about you.
Even still Chan couldn’t help but daydream as he zoned out in the mirror at how much happier you might be, if you only knew how madly in love he was, with you.

Chapter I
I abruptly woke up from my sleep, as I was currently lying in my bed at my family home. I carefully lifted my arm to look at my Apple watch to see that it was 5 a.m.  Surely that would give me enough time to get ready before heading off to the JYP headquarters, both of which were in the Gangdong district of Seoul. I was fortunate and happy to live close to the company HQ simply because my commute would be easier than most other trainees. I quietly went to the bathroom connected to my bedroom,  I was an only child but the only bathroom in the house shared 3 doors which were the hallway door, the door to my parents' office, and my room.  I carefully turned on the shower and took a warm shower all while washing my hair thoroughly.  After my shower I excitedly made my way over to my closet, picking out my outfit for practice today, unlike most of the other trainees in the company, I was the oldest having been born earlier half of my generation, which meant I had long since graduated from school and could dedicate most of my time to training and brushing up on new skills. I quickly slipped into my bra and panties, before sliding a short-sleeved black crop top over my head and onto my body. I put on light orange cream-colored sweatpants and my vans with some white ankle socks.
Tumblr media
After putting the outfit on I sat at my desk, which was like one of my safe spaces as I spent most of my time there doing my make-up and hair, South Korea was one of those places strict on grooming and the health of your appearance so I gladly took advantage of that. I pulled out my light caramel/almond-colored foundation and applied it, my skin was a Light caramel color as I was biracial coming from a Black American mother and Korean Father, simply put I was blasian. I put on a light but dark nude eye shadow near the edge of my eyes trying to keep it as natural looking as possible and put some pink-tinted lip balm on. I then took out my blow dryer and diffuser connection, as I was gonna wear my long curls out today. After drying my hair all the way, I carefully styled my hair with a side part and headed downstairs to the rest of my house. I practically skipped to the kitchen fridge pulled out some leftover Dakjuk and heated it, swiftly eating the bowl of food as I didn't want to be late. I finished the food grabbed a water bottle and a light soft coat and headed out, locking the door behind me.
When I finally got to the HQ I swiped my Trainee ID at the entrance and went upstairs to the practice room. A few other girls around my age were in the practice room already going at it practicing whatever choreography came to their mind. I set my bag down, as it contained my water bottle, a small cute blue agenda with butterflies on it, and some other necessities I packed for the session today.      A girl from the group walked up to me, and I quickly recognized that it was Nata, who was the only Korean trainee besides me who was bilingual.
"Hey Jade," she said softly, "wanna practice Mamamoo's HIP with us ?" I softly nodded as I walked over trying to figure out their formation and placements.
"How do you feel about doing Hwasa's part?" one of the other girls I wasn't all too familiar with asked. I put my thumbs up and smiled, "I'll take it." Nata then put the song on, and we all four got into our positions and began dancing full out while singing. By the time we were done with the song, one of the girls was coated in a light layer of sweat, indicating that this was probably the highest intensity in choreography she'd done.
"Can we do Dalla Dalla next?" I said excitedly, as the previous song had gotten me a bit hyped. "It's been a while since we've seen the girls since their debut, and we're not gonna see the others until they leave school."
"But Dalla Dalla is even more intense!" the same girl who was sweating blurted out.
" You can sit this one out if you want, " Nata said trailing off a bit in response, "the rest of us want to do this one."      The girl then sat off to the side pulling out her phone. I quietly thought to myself that the girl wouldn't debut any time soon if she kept that mentality up. Yeah, it's good to know your limits, but you would never be able to know what performance intensity you're able to reach if you don't even bother trying. I thought to myself some more, realizing I wanted to practice My facial expressions, as duality was becoming a big thing in the industry at the moment, I noticed stans from some of the groups I followed liked when their idol was able to switch their demeanor in the blink of an eye, and deemed that a quality and effect I wanted to have on any of my future fans.       Nata then quickly started playing the song, me and her and the last girl who I vaguely remember as Seumin getting into position, they allowed me to take the role of Yeji, who I dearly missed training with, if only I was as good enough to debut with her and the others. We started dancing full-out and singing, eventually reaching the part of the song where Yeji says My Life where she does her iconic dance move while also giving my best facial expressions when Bang Chan silently entered the practice room witnessing us.
"Oh!" he said taken back a bit with his hands raised. " I didn't know all of you girls were capable of this intensity"
"This was expected from you though Jade," he said beginning to point at me. "Speaking of, JYP sent me to come and get you— we were discussing some things and he wanted you in his office."        Confused I got up and picked my bag up following quietly behind Chan. He was one of my seniors who was pretty comfortable with me as were both around each other occasionally whenever he interacted with Ryujin and Yeji. He viewed the members of Itzy like they were his little sisters. But he also liked being around me when he had the chance because I was one of the few female trainees who spoke English, so it gave us something in common when we first met. He swiftly turned towards me as we walked to Jyp's office and shot me his usual soft smile.
"I hope you know you have nothing to worry or be nervous about," he said gently patting my shoulder. His words seemed to calm my nerves down a lot as I was worried that maybe I was being kicked out of the company. It made me think about how Chan's group had recently just lost a member, as Woojin decided to leave the group and company for some odd reason. The other girls tried to find out for weeks what his reasoning was, but the gossip dropped dead when they couldn't get any leads on info. We finally got to JYP's office and Chan carefully opened the door letting me go through first.
"Hello Jade," he said quickly, " I have some good news for you Today you're debuting in a group."      "What do you mean?" I said confused, as Chan took a seat in one of the chairs in front of us. Following suit, I sat in the chair anxiously tapping my foot. How could I be debuting if he just debuted a girl group and told the rest of us that he didn't think we were ready to be seen by the public yet? At that same moment, Chan looked over at me with a big grin.      "I think I'll let Chan tell you!" Jyp said eagerly.      "You're debuting into Stray kids Jade, " Chan said softly with a chuckle. I stared wide-eyed at Chan for some time, trying to fully process the info I had just been told.      "No way this has got to be a prank?!" I said still in shock, Chan shook his head signifying that he was very serious. "What did I even do to deserve such a thing ?" I said trying to regain my composure while also figuring out how they came to such a decision.
"You're like the only current female trainee close to our age besides the members of Itzy who can match up with our stamina and intensity in performance Jade," he said nonchalantly with a smirk, "that and you have the vocal range to complete us."
"He was telling me that the next girl group he was planning to debut was going to be a cutesy spin on girl crush," he continued, "and I didn't want him to waste your visuals and vocals on a group concept I don't think you fit." I softly mouthed Oh, finally catching on to why this took place.       "So what do I or what do we do now?" I said unsure of what the procedure was after being debuted.
"You sign your contract, and begin to move into the group dorm," JYP said butting back into the conversation as he placed the contract on the table in front of me with a pen next to it. I quickly but thoroughly read the contract, not wanting to sign myself into a deal that fucked me over. When I determined that I liked what was on the paper I swiftly Signed it eager to go back home and pack my things.
"Do you want me to help you get your stuff or would you prefer staff do it?" Chan said shyly with a soft smile on his face.
"I think I'll let the staff help me," I said softly with a light blush at his offer, " I don't want to burden you with helping me settle in."
" I don't mind helping you Jade," he said softly, " Especially since you're now my group member and my full responsibility."
I carefully got up from my seat, thanking Chan on my way out. I quickly headed home, excited to tell my parents the news. I got to the door of my home, pulled my keys out, and unlocked the door. I quickly slipped inside, calling out for my parents as I closed the door behind me.
"Eomma! Appa! I have some good news for you!" I yelled, not sure of their location within the house. I was starting to get slightly giddy at the thought of being with stray kids, not that I knew them that well.. but just the thought of having a group of people I would spend the next few years with, that would potentially become like a second family gave me a warm soft feeling in my tummy that I couldn't explain.
" Yes sweetie," my mom said coming out of the kitchen. She smelled a little of soul food, which let me know she was most likely making macaroni and such and those happened to be my favorite foods. My dad came down the stairs a few minutes later with a huge heart-warming smile.
"How's my cute little daughter?" he said as he engulfed me in a soft hug.
"Well," I said not able to contain my smile anymore, " I'm debuting!" I softly jumped up not able to contain my excitement.
"You Are?!" Both my parents said in shock as they almost broke their necks to look at me.
"Yes, I am!" I said with the biggest grin on my face, "I just have to start packing to move into the dorm soon."
" Well that's great!" my dad said enthusiastically, "What's the name of the group? I didn't think your company would debut a girl group so quickly after Itzy."
"Uhm..." I started nervously, "About that, it's not a new girl group."
"Why'd you start speaking Korean sweetie?" my dad gave me a confused look. " What do you mean it's not a new group unless he debuted you as a new member in itzy or something?"
" He didn't, He debuted me in Stray Kids." I blurted out quickly. My parents looked at me shocked my mom's mouth wide open and dad's eyes wide.
"He debuted you in a group with 9 boys ?!?" Both my parents yelled in unison.
"8 boys. Woojin left the company a week or two ago. " I said sheepishly
"Are you sure you're gonna be able to handle that? " My mom asked slightly concerned. "Wouldn't their choreography be a bit more stamina-draining since they're boys? "
"I think that's why they chose me to debut with them." I said confidently, " I'm like one of the three Female trainees in the company that can keep up with the boys stamina-wise. Even Bang Chan thinks my stamina and performance is intense."
"Okay if you say you can handle it then we will leave it to you." my dad said with a proud smile before hugging me one more time. "Just come eat dinner before you start."
After eating my dinner I quickly went upstairs and started packing my things. I didn't have much like most people would, I had like 6-9 pairs of jeans and 6 pairs of skirts all of which I packed in my suitcase. I packed my sweatpants as I was definitely gonna need those, and all of my sweaters, hoodies, and tops. I then packed all of my shoes, from my Converse and vans to my high-top retro 1's and my Demonia Camel 305 boots which practically took up all the leftover clothing space in my suitcase. On the lid area of the suitcase I packed all my undergarments such as my bras and panties and 2 boxers I acquired sometime during high school when I wanted to be more comfortable. I then removed my smaller travel bag from my empty closet and packed all my makeup, my flat iron, phone accessories, chargers, jewelry collection, and laptop into it. As I was placing my bags by my bedroom door, assuming I would move in first thing tomorrow I got a message. It was from one of the managers of my trainee teams.
Chat: Sua.mgt
Sua.mgt: Hey Jade, the company and stray kids wanted you to move in by tonight, It seems they have a lot of work to do for their postponed album comeback and they wanted everyone to be able to get right into their schedule first thing in the morning. I also got promoted as I'm now your individual manager so I'll be walking around with the other managers and staff stray kids have in public.
Crystal_Jade:
Oh okay that's cool, I thought I was gonna be able to rest in my bed at home one more time but that's fine.
I smiled as I sent the last message a bit excited about what was to come soon, immediately heading to my parents to tell them the update. Upon hearing it they hugged me tightly and wished me good luck before helping me bring my stuff downstairs to wait for the staff to come get me. I looked down at my phone and it was about 9 pm which was kind of late but not really late, I assume they all must have eaten dinner before deciding to come get me.
Sooner or later I heard a soft knock at the door. I got up excitedly opening the door to Sua at my doorstep and a black van with tinted windows parked in front of my house. As I did so she pointed.         "Welp, here's your ride and your help," She said with a giggle. As she finished her sentence about 2 people came out of the van followed by Chan who seemed to be wearing a mask and cap. Probably a safety measure to not be recognized in public by saesangs.
"Hey Jade," he said quietly as he walked towards me and Sua, " that's the other manager and our bodyguard, I really wanted to help you move into the dorm." I couldn't see his mouth but I'm sure if I could he would have had the biggest and cutest smile on his face. I then carefully pulled out my luggage and travel bag and tried to walk to the van before Chan stopped just a few steps out the door.
"Hey I told you I wanted to help you," he said excitedly as he went to grab my suitcase accidentally coming into contact with my hand, and then carried it into the van. I quietly followed him as I tried to hide the blush on my face. When I got into the van the managers all sat in the back next to my belongings leaving the only available spots next to Chan. I looked back at Sua to see if she wanted to sit between me and Chan but she instead ushered me into the car and told me to prepare my to put my mask on for when we got to the dorm in case of any saesangs being around. I carefully sat next to Chan as my anxiety was at 100. ' Why am I even feeling like this next to him, I'm usually never this nervous around Chan, I mean before this I was only really seeing him here and there but still.' I thought to myself. To calm my nerves I pulled my phone out and started scrolling through my social media. Sometime during the ride, I could feel someone's eyes on me so I looked up to see Chan carefully glancing at me. It's like he was trying to make sure I was okay or something. We eventually got to the dorm after two hours it was about 11 p.m. so I put my mask on.
Everyone got out of the van and before I could pick up any of my things myself Chan was already picking them up and bringing them inside for me. I followed behind everyone shyly to the elevator to get to the dorm not knowing what to expect when I got there. We eventually got to the dorm and Sua gave me a little pep talk before the other manager and bodyguard told us they had to part ways until tomorrow. Sua and Chan walked into the dorm after he unlocked the door so I followed them until they both stopped. It seemed like we were in a common room, which was probably the living room of the place.
"Hey guys," he said sheepishly with his hands softly rubbing the back of his neck," this is one of the new managers, Sua, and behind her and I is our new member Jade." As he finished saying his statement Sua waved and then moved to the side so I could greet everyone. I shyly waved, cowarding a bit kind of afraid to look up and not really knowing what to expect. Bang Chan then took off his mask and inched closer to me softly resting his hands on my shoulder.
"I Know you're nervous but you should still look up and at least greet your members," he whispered a bit worried, " I don't want the guys to get the impression of you y'know?"
In response to what he whispered I carefully looked up at the rest of the group and greeted them properly introducing myself.
"Woah she's pretty!" they all said in Unison, their voices dripping in shock.
"Oh by the way Felix," Chan said stepping forward a bit, getting closer to the group, "She speaks English."
"Oh? Really?" the lavender-haired one said looking a bit more shocked than he was a minute ago.
"Yeah, I speak English, " I said with a giggle, " I was born in America and moved here when I was like twelve."      "Oh shit you guys weren't bluffing," he said wide-eyed. One of the boys with dark-colored hair snapped his head in Felix's direction upon hearing the curse word and it made me immediately giggle.       " Well, I should probably carry Jade's things to her room," he said gently, " let her get settled in." All the boys nodded in response, and Chan began to walk off to my room gesturing for me to follow him. We eventually stopped in front of a black door and he opened it. The room was very plain like they left it that way so that it could be decorated the way the occupant wanted it to be. Chan carefully set my travel bag on my bed and my suitcase at the foot of the bed.      "Uhm would you like me to help you unpack so you can go to bed quicker, It is getting pretty late," He said timidly, his face slightly flushed.      " You don't have to, I'll probably unpack when I get the chance," I replied softly, a yawn following immediately right after as I covered my mouth. "Thank you though."     "My pleasure," he said with a cheerful smile as I could now hear the Australian accent of his clear as day, "I'm gonna let you get ready for bed now then." And with that Chan left the room. I carefully unpacked my travel bag as it was much easier since everything was already separated, deciding the suitcase would be dealt with whenever I had a break in my soon-to-be chaotic schedule. Opening up my suitcase I pulled out my pajamas, soft silk shorts, and a tank top along with some underwear. My phone then buzzed in my pocket, so I set my clothing down and checked it.
Unknown number: Hey this is Chan, I just realized I forgot to tell you where the bathroom is. Uhm it's the White door in the middle of all the black doors. The towels and stuff should be in the toiletries cabinet.        With that, I immediately saved his number picked my clothes up, and headed to the bathroom. I pulled out a towel and washcloth and took a thorough shower, feeling refreshed, and put on my clothes turning the bathroom light off as I walked out. It was pretty somewhat dark in the hall but I remembered where my room was. On my way there I slightly bumped into someone and despite being confused about who it was since the person was a lot taller than me than Chan was I immediately apologized not wanting to offend them. It was then that they used a phone to create a source of light and I could see it was Hyunjin, the idol that I usually avoid in the company because his visuals made me way too giddy to think straight. I could never have a normal conversation with him when I first met him because it's like my brain would just temporarily shut down. I one time forgot how to chew food and choked in the company cafeteria when he sat about a foot away from me and said hi. He softly smirked when he saw that it was me.
"Oh it's you," he said smugly, " I should have realized it was since you have such a petite-sized body compared to me." "Oh" was all I could make out, and it was at that moment I was so glad that the hallways were dark and that I was more tan than the typical Korean as I was blushing madly.       "Did you just come from the bathroom?" he said curiously. I couldn't quite tell his intentions with that specific question so I answered anyway not wanting to assume he had any ill intent.           "Yeah, I did. Why?" I said sheepishly.
"Oh, nothing, I should probably let you head off to bed then it's pretty late and we have a lot of music recording to do tomorrow," he said smirking once again as he walked off. All I could do was stare at him wide-eyed. I wasn't really prepared to be recording music so soon. I walked back to my bedroom and quickly headed to bed setting my alarm on my phone for 5 am.

can I request an imagine about saeyoung comforting you when you're sick? 😤
Ayyy one of my favorites tropes! :D
"What are you doing here...?"
This was somewhat of a dumb question coming from you, but your mind was just too groggy and fatigued with illness to think rationally at the moment. You had been stuck in your bed for the whole day now, getting up only to use the bathroom or drink some water in between your feverish naps. This was one of those days that you just wanted to pass by you as quickly as possible so that you could get on with your life as if nothing has even happened soon after. Nobody likes getting sick, yet it's a part of human experience that you just have to suffer through, whether you want to or not.
You could hear your partner chuckle slightly under his breath as he came into the room and closed the door behind him as quietly as possible so as to not disturb you too much with an unwanted noise.
"Oh, just checking up on my sick little alien, that's all."
Taking a seat beside your bed, Saeyoung pressed his hand to your sweaty forehead, making you lean into his cool touch out of pure instinct. You must have looked like a complete mess right now, considered the fact that you have not left your bed for the entire day. Well, it's not like you cared much about that right now, anyways. Either way, you could see concern slowly rising in his eyes as he studied you carefully, like a true doctor assessing you from just one look alone.
He would make a handsome doctor... Or a very pretty nurse at that...
Oh God, this fever is making you think of a few very bizarre things-
"Ugh, I told you to just leave me alone for the day... I don't want to get you sick as well." You groaned, shutting your eyes tightly and turning your burning face to the opposite direction from the redhead that was slowly filling your every thought like a different sort of sickness. If there's one good thing out of this fever, it's that he probably couldn't tell the difference between your feverish blush and the embarrassed one. "I'm just going to sleep all day and hope that my body does all the work for me."
"Who says you can't do exactly that, though?" You could hear him shuffling about, probably cleaning up all the used up tissues that were scattered about on your nightstand. "You can just lay there and get better, while I bring you anything you need, so that you don't have to strain yourself. And I'm sure Saeran wouldn't mind cooking you up some yummy soup that's going to do wonders to your tummy! You're acting like you're living all alone, when it's obviously not the case."
Despite your resolve, you could feel yourself starting to smile as the images of what your partner was describing slowly formed in your mind, making your chest feel warm and fuzzy at the notion of being cared for like that. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad to just... let go and let others take care of you for once. And you did miss having company around you, even if you tried to deny it. Being sick sucked, but it sucked even more if you're dealing with the struggles of it all by yourself.
"...Okay. That actually sounds... kinda nice. Thank you, Saeyoung."
You gave him a tired but warm smile, which he returned with one of his own, running a hand through your messy hair and making you sigh in satisfaction as result of his pleasant touch. "That's a good kitten.*
Soon after, you found yourself sitting up in your bed, prepped up by a few pillows and holding a plushie of your hacker boyfriend close to your chest, with the real Saeyoung carefully placing a bowl of steaming porridge on your now neatly stacked bedside.
"What's that?" You asked, rubbing at your eyes and trying to sniff out any distinguishing scents from the dish, only to fail miserably due to your clogged up nose.
God, you hated being sick.
"Saeran decided to make you a bowl of dakjuk, and since cooking is a field of science too advanced for my genius brain, I decided to go along with my little bro's suggestion. Smells amazing, so I'm sure you'll feel better in no time! I wonder if he'll cook the same for me if I get sick..." He placed a hand to his chin, as if he was lost deep in thought, making you giggle at his adorable display.
"I'm sure he would, love. It's a shame I won't be able to taste it fully, though." You replied, smiling warmly at the thought. Saeran's care showed in his actions more than anything. You were certain that he'd be more than willing to help his brother get better, albeit not nursing him back to health directly. "Will you feed me?"
Saeyoung winked at you, booping your nose with a tip of his finger. "You don't even have to ask, my cutest patient! Doctor Choi will take utmost care of you and your soup."
Can't forget about the soup.
Even despite your sickness, you could feel the overwhelming warmth and smooth texture of a porridge-like mixture filling your mouth, making you close your eyes and appreciate the cozy flavor of this dakjuk to the best of your abilities. Gulping down the first spoonful, you nodded with approval, your eyes twinkling with happiness for the first time today. "Mm! You know, even if I can't taste much, I can tell that that's a very good dakjuk. Do tell Saeran that I loved it, okay?"
"Oh, I already did before I brought it here." He shrugged, making you raise an eyebrow in a silent question. "I know Saeran's food is going to be amazing, so why wait, eh?"
"You're impossible sometimes." You snickered, playfully rolling your eyes at him. Saeran's annoyed glare was all you could picture at the back of your mind, only making you want to laugh even more.
Once you've finished your porridge, Saeyoung tucked you back into bed, although you had to shoo him away before he could place a kiss to your lips as he usually did. You did promise him to double your daily kisses once you get better in response to the put he gave you, but you definitely did not want your partner to get sick because of you, which is why a small sacrifice had to be made. You chattered between yourselves for about a hour more about this and that, jumping from one topic to another, as it often happened whenever you two started up a conversation. Listening to Saeyoung babbling away excitedly about his day or his interests always did put a smile on your face.
"I love you." You murmured, squeezing his hand in yours and slowly closing your eyes once more, drifting off into a peaceful sleep.
A content smile adorned your flushed face as you felt him place a single loving kiss to the warm skin of your forehead, before caressing the back of your hand with his thumb. "I love you too, kitten. Get better for me so that I can kiss you properly the first thing tomorrow morning, okay?"

pairing: jungkook x gender neutral reader (PLATONIC)
genre: fluff. a tiny tiny sprinkling of angst.
summary: You can’t stand the thought of Jungkook feeling alone while he’s sick, so you take matters into your own hands.
rating: F FOR FEELINGS AND FRIENDSHIP
word count: 902
warnings: A single swear word, not including the one in my notes. Implied ongoing medical issues. A brief moment of wondering if an act of care is enough.
notes: Y’all I don’t know what’s come over me but I am like distraught about Jungkook being sick in a country that isn’t home. I know and trust that he’s getting the absolute best care, but it’s just stress inducing. Being sick sucks to begin with; being sick away from home and away from people you care about and who care about you sucks even more. So um, here’s a teeny bandaid to hopefully make it all better?? At least for us complete strangers who are worried about the stranger with which we have a parasocial relationship? Lastly, dakjuk (닭죽) is a juk (Korean rice porridge) made with chicken. It’s commonly given to sick or otherwise ailing folks because it’s easy to digest, and frankly, it sounds so fucking good right now. Get well soon, Jungkook and Hobi!! Focus on resting up and feeling better!

“Noooooo,” Jungkook whines, covering his mouth with his sweater paw, “No, you can’t be here! I can’t get you sick!”
You adjust uncomfortably, still standing outside his apartment doorway. You know you shouldn’t be here, and yet, you’re here anyway.
“Jungkook, it’s a risk I’m willing to take. I’m wearing safety glasses and a kn-95 and gloves and will wash my hands before I go.”
“If you get sick you could—”
“I know, I know,” you say simply. “But I’m willing to take the risk. You’re trash at taking care of yourself and being sick alone sucks. I won’t be here for long, I promise.”
“I don’t like this,” he grumbles, but he’s not sending you away, not yet. He looks like shit. His eyes are puffy, his nose red and raw. His lips are chapped from breathing with his mouth and not his nose.
After a moment of zoning out, he steps out of his doorway and to the side. Is this your cue to come in? There’s a brief rustle, and then Jungkook appears again, a surgical mask stretched over his face. “I also know you won’t leave until I let you in. You’ve got three minutes.”
“Okay, perfect,” you say, bursting through his door and heading straight for his kitchen.
“I’m setting a timer!” He says weakly. He sounds far away, as if he’s not planning on following you. It’s for the better, even if it feels strange.
Once at his counter, you set out containers of dakjuk and a glass jar of yuja-cha. The diner containers you’ve packed the porridge into are still hot to the touch; you’d come over as soon as it was done.
You don’t feel like you’ve made it right, even if you’d followed the recipe as best you could, given the circumstances. You’d made it in your Instant Pot. You hadn’t given yourself the chance to soak the grains, or make the stock yourself. Chicken thighs, and not a whole chicken. It wasn’t made by his eomma; you’re just his friend. How comforting will any of this be, really?
You push past the nerves, and reach for his electric kettle so that you can fill it. Once you’ve got it started, you start looking through his cabinets for a bowl.
“What are you looking for?” Jungkook sounds closer this time, and you turn to see that he’s at the kitchen entry, a confused look in his eyes.
“A bowl for this.” You motion at the containers of dakjuk. The next cabinet you open has bowls, and you take one down, setting it by the food. “It’s still really warm, so you’ll want to let it sit for a bit before putting it in the fridge. But you should eat some now.”
“You made juk for me?” His voice, low and hoarse from being ill, cracks a little. His eyes look a little brighter than usual.
“Uh, yeah. I did. I heard you were sick from Taehyung and I … I know you just moved and well, it sucks to be sick alone. I would know.”
Neither of you have to say it, but both of you can feel it. All of your friends have heard about the ongoing battle. The trips to new doctors. The constant “I can’t take that medicine because it interacts with this other med I’m already taking.” The nervous titter of having a bag packed, just in case your next visit to the hospital has you staying longer than you anticipated.
Jungkook stands in silence for a moment, looking soft and almost small.
“Thank you,” he finally says, softly, the words catching in his throat for more than one reason.
Suddenly, his phone starts ringing. The timer.
“Okay, I should go. But make sure you put all of that in the fridge after a bit. Maybe set a timer. And make sure to drink some of that yuja-cha. It’ll help your throat.” You strip off your nitrile gloves and drop them in the trash. You then stop at the kitchen sink to scrub your hands thoroughly before drying them with paper towels.
“Make sure you throw away that mask,” he says as he moves out of the way to let you leave his kitchen. “And you should wash all those clothes and take a shower as soon as you get home.”
“I will, Kook,” you murmur in your most soothing tone. You approach his front door, still left open just a crack. You hook the toe of your shoe around the corner and swing it open. “I feel safe with what I did. I just couldn’t—”
You falter for a moment, and look over your shoulder at him one last time.
“I couldn’t just let you be sick alone.”
For a moment, neither of you speaks. Jungkook sniffles under his mask. Fuck, if he starts crying, you might too. But then finally, he speaks, his voice wobbling:
“I really appreciate it. Thank you for bringing me things. Juk sounds amazing right now.”
“Of course, Kook. Call me if you need me to leave anything, okay?”
“Yeah. Yeah, I’ll do that. Go straight home, okay? You need to scrub down.”
“I will, I will. Get some rest!” You say over your shoulder as you step into the hallway.
“Yup, text me when you get home.”
And with a click, the apartment door shuts behind you, and you start to head home.

Yohan:

And let's continue again
If he didn't want to he here, why is Taehoon forcing him?!
Minji watches as Yohan glares at steaming claypot on the table. She even put eggs in it!
"Eat!" Taehoon shoves a spoon on Yohan's hand. "Minji here is not many things but for sure she makes good nurungji dakjuk! I can't usually eat celery but this I can eat just fine!"
"Why don't you eat it then?"
Minji reins herself back. This guy might be good-looking but she has way higher standards than that. Kicking his ass is an option. Just you wait until the cute puppies finish their dinner (she doesn't want to scare them).
Taehoon shrugs, picking up his spoon. "I will. Woof woof."
Yohan narrows his eyes at Taehoon's horrible dog impersonation.
"Miro and Eden are eating well. It's important to eat well. Look at this, noona. Doesn't the seaweed arranged like this looks like a puppy face?"
"Finish your food and wash the dishes. Don't noona me."
"Look."
Minji frowns at the seaweed flakes on Taehoon's porridge. It looks like a puppy face alright. This idiot. Noticing useless things.
"Little Han, check this out. If you move the carrots here.. that's a yellow dog wearing a white hoodie."
"What the hell are you talking about?" Yohan mutters, watching Taehoon arrange the ingredients in his porridge.
"The yolk is the face. This big piece of seaweed, the snout. Sesame seed, nose. Smaller flakes, eyes. Do you not get it? The carrots are the ears."
Yohan blinks. Oh. It. It does look like a puppy.
"The puppy is growing cold." Taehoon scoops the egg and ate it.
Yohan gasps. "Ah! Why would-!"
"What, I've come to rescue the pup.."
Yohan scowls at him. He pushes his bowl towards Taehoon. "Mine too. Make a puppy in a hoodie."
Minji stares at them as Taehoon works on Yohan's food.
"Should we add more sesame seeds? Let's make yours spotted?" Taehoons asks.
Yohan nods enthusiastically.
Minji shakes her head. Wow. Idiots.

word count 578 my jaw literally dropped when i saw this SIR ?? NESNLNA
you push taehyun through the door to your dorm, coaxing him to sit down on the couch. he sniffles, watching as you rush around the room to grab a blanket, bottle of water, and a box of tissues for him. you wrap the blanket around him so it drapes off of his shoulders.
taehyun looks up at you as you bring a hand up to his cheek, tilting his head up before raising it to his forehead. his skin is hot to the touch. you silently curse to yourself.
he has a fever. it’s probably the flu. you should make soup and get him some medication. he’ll need to rest for at least a few days to fully recover. you need to call soobin to let him know. what about practice-
your thoughts are interrupted when taehyun leans up to press his lips against yours. it’s quick - only a small peck. he laughs as you stare at him in surprise.
you roll your eyes, looking away to hide how flustered you are. “don’t do that,” you murmur. “you’re gonna get me sick too.”
taehyun stands up, draping the blanket across the back of the couch. “i’m not sick.”
“yes, you are.” you push him back down, wrapping the blanket around him again. “you have a fever. don’t make me call soobin over to take care of you.”
“fine,” he sighs, finally relenting. as much as he loves the rest of the boys, he would much rather have his lover home with him to take care of him.
“stay here. we have chicken stock in the fridge. i’ll make dakjuk.”
“are you gonna stay with me?”
“of course.” you brush his bangs out of his face, leaning down to press a quick kiss against his forehead. “i’m here to take care of you.”
taehyun smiles, watching you walk into the kitchen. he reaches over to grab the remote to the tv, turning it on and finding the drama you’ve been watching. he cues up a new episode before pausing it to wait for your return, scrolling through his phone as he waits for you to finish making the dakjuk.
you return with a spoon and a bottle of medicine in your hand. he bites back a sigh as you pour out a spoonful before holding it up to his mouth for him to take. despite the odd aftertaste he chokes it down with a bottle of water afterwards.
you chuckle as he grimaces before putting the medicine back in its rightful place before throwing the spoon into the sink. “come here,” taehyun opens his arms. “i deserve cuddles after that.” you smile, laying down on the couch behind him. you wrap an arm around his waist, pulling him back against your chest. taehyun presses play on the remote, nuzzling into your touch as he relaxes into your hold.
he only makes it a few minutes into the episode before his eyelids start to feel heavier, threatening to flutter closed. he shifts to try and force himself to stay awake. you prop yourself up on your elbow, brushing your fingers through taehyun’s hair. he sighs, relaxing against your touch. “you’re gonna make me fall asleep.”
“that’s the point.” he huffs but leans back into your touch. “sleep. i’ll wake you up when the dakjuk is done.”
“okay.” the word is slightly muffled. “i love you.”
you smile, leaning in to press a kiss against his shoulder. “i love you too.”

word count 618 he's so bf i'm in love
kai groans a little as he trudges back to bed, curling into a ball beside you. you sleepily sit up, squinting at him in the darkness. “kai?”
“did i wake you? i’m sorry.”
“it’s okay.” you sit up, switching the lamp on your bedside table on. the brightness makes kai squint as he buries his face into your pillow. you sit up fully, brushing a hand through his hair. “why are you up this late? are you okay?”
“i’m fine.” his words are muffled. “i just don’t feel good.”
you coax him to roll onto his side, brushing a hand against his forehead. it feels warm to the touch. “are you dizzy at all?”
“yeah. i’ve had a headache since yesterday and i feel a little sick.” you hum, sitting up fully. kai shifts to lay in your lap as you continue playing with his hair.
“it sounds like you have a fever.”
“but what about practice?”
“don’t worry about it, okay? just get some rest. we’ll see if you feel better tomorrow.“
kai's protests die on his tongue as your nails scratch against his scalp. you twist his curls against your fingers, happy to enjoy the quiet time with him. he fully relaxes against your body as he lets sleep fully overtake him.
Tumblr media
you’re gone the next morning when kai wakes up. the curtains are pulled closed, blocking out most of the sunlight that would’ve woken him earlier in their absence. he rolls onto his side, grabbing his phone. 11:24.
he gasps, forcing himself to stand up. a new wave of dizziness hits him but he ignores it as he makes his way into the living room. he hears your voice before he sees you. you’re standing in the kitchen by the time he gets there, watching a simmering pot on the stove.
kai sleepily stands in the living room, patiently waiting for you to end your call before speaking. “so i just let it sit for an hour? … okay, thank you again. i’m about to go wake him up now. … i’ll have him call you later.” he makes his way over to you, wrapping his arms around your waist and leaning against your back. you jump a little in surprise before chuckling.
“good morning honey.”
“we don’t have practice today?”
“no,” you say, stirring the soup. “you’re sick, so they gave you the day off and soobin let me stay home to take care of you.”
“you didn’t have to do that,” he whines.
you turn around to face him, wrapping your arms around his shoulders. “i wanted to.” you grab his arm, leading him towards the couch with you. you grab a blanket from nearby, wrapping it around him in a makeshift cocoon. once he’s drowning in the fabric you pull out a penguin plush, handing it to him. “i was just about to come wake you. the soup is done.”
you rush back to the kitchen, quickly preparing a bowl of soup for kai. you sit across from him on the couch, holding out a spoonful of soup. his face lights up as he tries it. “this is like what my mom used to make.” you sheepishly smile, holding out another spoonful for him.
“i might’ve… called her and asked for the recipe.”
“really?” kai stares at you with wide eyes for a few seconds before leaning in to press his lips against yours in a sweet kiss. you smile into it, pressing another peck against his lips before you pull away. “i love you.”
“i love you too. now, finish your soup and then we can cuddle.”
“thank you.” he whispers again, taking the bowl from you.
“anything for you.”

Dakjuk. It’s this chicken-rice porridge my mom makes when I’m sick. It’s easy to freeze and reheat and I like adding a lot of salt.
Any meal that makes for easy leftovers is a good meal. Especially when you're sick.

5, 8, 17 for the asks!!
5. cold seasons are for eating lots of good food, what are your favorite meals?
for foods i like to eat during the winter, i enjoy yummy soups and stews, like tortellini soup, oden, dakjuk, tteokguk, and sundubu jjigae! i also enjoy eating spicy foods a lot during the winter as well, especially tteokbokki! baked macaroni and cheese, chicken pot pie, shepherd's pie, beef stroganoff, casseroles, and chicken and dumplings are some other winter comfort meals i like 🫶
8. scarf or no scarf? why or why not?
i rarely wear a scarf, mostly because my cardigans, sweaters, and coats keep me warm enough, but if it's colder than usual, i'll wear one!
17. what’s the first thing that comes to mind when you think about winter?
snow!
