THE ALASKAN DREAM CONSISTS OF HUGE FUCKING FISH ‼️ I don’t know if y’all in the Lower 48 also learn about fish in your schools, especially salmon (and yes in Alaska we do indeed say salmon like ‘samen’, salmon without the L cuz we’re always winning no we’re not), I had to learn atleast like two weeks worth of school of purely salmon and watching salmon documentaries and dissecting salmon cuz of how important they are to Alaska 😭 (I didn’t mind tho cuz I love learning about Alaska) (also, a really long rant below, I don’t expect y’all to read all or any of it— it’s not a sad or deep rant, just like a long letter of appreciation for you guys)

Btw I’m sorry I couldn’t do more this post :( my heads been a little preoccupied with some struggles so I couldn’t focus on drawing much else, also I just simply hit a creative stump is all as well, I have considered talking a little deep about me (or technically, my life a little bit) for y’all, I dunno why, maybe it’s simply the fact most people I’ve talked to within this fandom n such has simply just been so nice and relaxing (although, I’m aware I don’t interact that much or consistently) sometimes I really like deep conversation as well, or just spouting random facts and ideas I have, it’s nice, especially if there’s people that atleast somewhat get my rambles— but I suppose this is a thank you, to be honest, because I love that you guys like my work and sometimes even use them or build off of them, even if I think the idea I had was a bad idea (Punk Ny for example was an idea I was worried about not being a good one), most of the time I don’t edit them out because I think maybe one person out there might like it and want me to keep it there, like my girlfriend who encourages my ideas or helps me shape them, I never had this type of interaction and it makes me so giddy at times, so I really appreciate it :)

Also, I know I’m not obligated to draw so much with each post (maybe I’ll talk about how long my process is and what I do for most posts) but sometimes I feel like I owe you guys it because a lot of you are very respectful, and a lot of states do not have the amount of content that one who is passionate about would want, I mean, that’s why I joined this place and immediately started drawing Alaska like a mad man since there wasn’t much content about him (especially specifically about him), im passionate about my state, I yearn to know as much as I can and see how others think of it and us, I wanna do the same for other states but I worry that I don’t feel the same amount of passion for them as I do Alaska and I know that’s fine, but I still feel bad about it because I think I can do better for you guys, Indiana and Arizona and North Dakota for example I feel I can do more, even if you guys are content with what I came up with, but it’s very relieving to hear the expectations were not unreachable like I expected you guys to be about them, and I’m glad you guys aren’t critical about the fact I’m very inconsistent with Alaskas design because I’m not quite sure what I want for him and how much his design feels like him so I’m still trying always

Hi! Any thoughts on the 'hidden track' at the end of the Bonus DLC Tracks for the new Dragon Age Vinyl set? "D'Read Koda" can be interpreted so many ways but 'dread bear'? Coda, the musical notation? (Do you suppose there's any connection to the bear and maiden graffiti art we see several places in Inquisition [or any connection between that mural and the one from The Missing {moon atop the bear and halla horns on the maiden?}])

Hi! Thanks for the ask! :D And yeah, I've been super curious about this as well! (And also the pre-sale for the vinyl now starting at the same day that the final volume of The Missing is coming out, May 10th 👀 but ALSO everything about the cover, like the GOLDEN CITY (omg???), the enormous DRAGON (Mythal???), the vines/tree branches (like Mythal's vallaslin/visions of her conquering in Trespasser??), the ECLIPSE in the background (according to Dalish mythology Mythal "created" the moon/"An Eclipse as Fen'Harel stirred"??), the summit/mountain beneath it (!!) and that single hooded person (with a staff resembling the headpiece of one of the two figures in the 2020 teaser mural/symbols in the new cinematic)?? The potential LORE revelations on this thing are absolutely bonkers, but I digress! 😂)

Anyway! I actually thought something similar when I first saw that mysterious hidden track name, that it has to be some kind of anagram or wordplay, given how much BioWare LOVES to do those and also with the musical term "coda" being spelled with a "k" for some reason, but what stood out to me especially was the random apostrophe that's in there, since the devs are also known for their (internal) "disputes" about the extensive use of apostrophes in DA for the elven language and names. lol

So to me the odd spelling plus the random apostrophe points more to it being an anagram for a specific elven term, but I have yet to decipher what it could be. 🤔

My second thought was if this "hidden track" could actually just be the final part in the "extended version" of the Lost Elf theme (starting at about 10:13), but then I looked up the game's files and noticed that this specific tune actually plays (though only once) when you first get to the Darvaarad and the full piece is about 2:40 minutes long (the hidden track being only 1:08), leading me to think this is probably what's titled "Qunari Atmosphere" on the tracklist. And after going through all the Trespasser music files I could find, there was nothing hinting at something like "D'Read Koda" either. :/

But you're right, "Koda" is also a term in the Dakota language meaning "friend/ally" or "little bear", but I'm completely at a loss as to what that could refer to. For all we know, it could be a reference to frigging Storvacker. 😂

As for your second question though, since you brought up "The Bear and the Maiden" painting/mural in connection to the mural in volume 3 of The Missing, there are actually a few other interesting aspects to this that I've been thinking about, but before I start rambling get to that point, let me just put the rest under a cut so people don't get spammed with an exhaustingly long text post. lol

First off, for reference, this is the painting we're talking about, featured in various places throughout DAI!

People have made quite a few speculations about this imagery over the years. For one, given that it is not exclusively found in elven ruins and filed under "Fereldan art" in the game's files, some people assume it could depict an old legend of the Alamarri. Others have suggested that it's actually just a little easter egg in reference to the "The Bear and the Fair Maiden" song in ASOIAF. lol

But by far the most popular take on this, is that this is depicting the elven gods Dirthamen and Ghilan'nain. Based on Ghilan'nain's sacred animal being the halla and the lady with her all white appearance and her antlers kinda resembling one as well. And Dirthamen's sacred animal being a bear (among others, I think). Which would pose the question though, why these two are portrayed in such a way, when there's nothing in the lore that could give us an explanation?

To me, it almost looks like the maiden is trying to calm the bear down/keep him in check, who has gone out of control and is now turning into a wild beast (that can apparently also breath fire? lol). With what we know of Ghilan'nain now, it's definitely possible that her horrifying experiments and creation of all kinds of freaky creatures might have inspired such imagery.

So, while I can see how you could draw a parallel to the mural in volume 3 with the way they're positioned/embrace each other, I don't know what else to derive from this, other than that it would point to the bottom "red one" being Ghilan'nain and the "green one" being Andruil and not the other way around, or that Andruil was maybe able to shapeshift into a bear? lol But if we're going with my assumption that the bear is losing control over itself, maybe it could refer to the stories of Andruil succumbing to madness from hunting the Forgotten Ones in the Void. As opposed to the mural in the comic, where they seem to be rather peacefully in love (to me at least).

But while we're at it, let us go back to Ghilan'nain and Dirthamen's potential connection real quick (because I've been thinking about it 😶)! What's interesting to me, is that these two have actually been mentioned together in the lore, too, looking at this ancient elven writing for example that is only revealed to you when using Veilfire at the Temple of Mythal:

"His crime is high treason. He took on a form reserved for the gods and their chosen, and dared to fly in the shape of the divine.The sinner belongs to Dirthamen; he claims he took wings at the urging of Ghilan'nain, and begs protection from Mythal. She does not show him favor, and will let Elgar'nan judge him."

"For one moment there is an image of a shifting, shadowy mass with blazing eyes, whose form may be one or many. Then it fades."

So there we have the two being involved in what appears to be a judgement on someone serving under Dirthamen, because of Ghilan'nain's actions. While we don't know how much of this actually happened, it definitely makes you wonder about their intentions here. Why would Ghil do this? And why specifically to someone serving under Dirthamen? What was the outcome? And what does this tell us about their relationship? (And now that I think about it, what if this sinner was actually the bear in the mural? lol)

As for the sinner himself. Now, I don't know about you, but when I reread this codex again after several playthroughs, particularly the “shifting, shadowy mass with blazing eyes” at the end, I thought “Wait. That kinda reminds me of something......”

Look, I know it doesn't appear that way when looking at my blog for like five minutes, but I certainly don't think that every single codex entry on elven myths should be automatically assumed to be about Solas. 😂 That being said, I can't help but feel like there's a connection to be made when looking at this other ancient inscription, that can be found in the final chamber of the Solasan Temple:

Faintly carved into the stone is a figure bound in chains. Two other figures have turned their gaze from the central image.

The script below the image is ancient, though Solas is able to provide a partial translation:

Pride in our accomplishments and in our hearts. That same pride became (a word meaning corrupted or altered) within him, he sought to claim (indecipherable), cast from favor and so he was bound.

Hidden from mortal eyes, death lies within.

To me, this text always seemed to perfectly match up with the ancient writing in Mythal's temple. A person being judged for claiming (godhood?)/daring to fly in the shape of the divine (a dragon?), put in chains and "bound" as punishment (by Elgar'nan?). And again, there are two figures involved. If the events of these writings do connect, was this "sinner" the one belonging to Dirthamen, taking wings by the urging of Ghilan'nain and them now silently accepting Elgar'nan's judgement, making those two the "figures turning their gaze"?

The thing is, if I'm presented with an ancient elven text about someone's PRIDE being corrupted in a place called SOLASAN temple, how in the world am I NOT supposed to draw an immediate connection to Solas here? 😂 I'm not saying that the sinner in this story had to be him per se, but if the age-old theory about Solas having been a spirit of Wisdom once who somehow turned into Pride is true, then there's still the question of how or why exactly this corruption occurred? And, if anything, the story of this sinner would provide at least one possibility for what happened to someone who had been corrupted in ancient times.

"Cast from favor and so he was bound."

If Cole's cryptic comments in Trespasser are actually about Solas (and Mythal?), then it's safe to say that Solas was himself bound ("He left a scar when he burned her off his face"), which does make SO much sense, considering that he values free will above everything, his furious reaction to the Well of Sorrows is SO telling, oh and also, he lead a motherflippin Slave Rebellion. 😂

But if we're looking for further potential connections between Dirthamen, Ghilan'nain and Solas... Well, Dirthamen is not only called the Keeper of Secrets, but is also always associated with sharing wisdom, knowledge and giving counsel to those in need. His symbols also include two ravens. Wolf and raven being known for pretty cool 80s synthwave music having a special bond in many real life myths and legends.

And Ghilan'nain is the only elven god we know of who was a "huntress of the People" before she ascended to become the youngest of the elven pantheon (possibly because of her relationship with Andruil or her ability to "create" things). As far as we know, Solas was also one of the People before he "became" Fen'Harel. So they were very much alike in that sense.

There's also the tale in which Fen'Harel gets captured by Andruil, because he had angered her by “hunting the halla without her blessing”. Some people have taken this to mean that Solas made a move on Ghilan'nain or that they had something going, so naturally, given that Andruil and Ghilan'nain are believed to have also been lovers, she was not very amused about that. lol (Which would make the rest of the story even funnier, where Andruil declared to “punish” him by making him “serve in her bed for a year and a day to pay her back”. lmao)

Which brings us finally back to the mural in The Missing volume 3, that could depict Andruil and Ghilan'nain embracing each other, perhaps even romantically (btw, if you want to know why I think so, check out my post on volume 3. :D).

I kinda joked about it at first, but if we assume that this mural was actually made by Solas as well, then you do have to wonder why he would even choose to paint such an intimate moment between Ghilan'nain and Andruil, people he arguably despises? Though it'll be interesting to learn what their relationship was like before his rebellion and Mythal's murder. I mean, who knows, maybe the before-mentioned tale actually happened and all three of them made out afterwards (willingly or not). 😂 (I mean, we're still talking about immortal beings here, so what else are they gonna do all day? lol) Or maybe Solas was just the Evanuris' personal portrait/mural painter at one point. lol

Anyway, to conclude, all of this is partially why I assumed for the longest time, that the two figures seen in the 2020 teaser mural could be Ghilan'nain and Dirthamen (also the fact that Dirthamen's vallaslin matched up perfectly with the silhouette of the right figure and obviously everything about Ghilan'nain and her horrifying experiments in Tevinter Nights).

...but with everything we've learned since then, I'm now actually leaning more towards it being Ghilan'nain and Elgar'nan (if you want to know why, I highly recommend watching this fantastic analysis!).

The only thing that still kinda irks me with this, is the fact that the only elven god that's known for wielding a spear like this is actually Andruil.

However, it is super suspicious to me how the "goddess" seen in this concept art seems to break out of what looks like huge ocean waves and how this "grey sludge stuff" from Ghil's ancient "pools" in Tevinter Nights was described to have "smelled like the ocean" AND the mention of (capital P) Pride in elven myths having "stopped Ghilan'nain's hand when she was about to destroy her creatures of the deep sea". 👀👀 (Also, is it just me or does the figure in the 2020 mural look like she's having algae hanging down her headpiece? Not to mention the tentacles. lol) So there's that.

Also, and I know this is the silliest reason, but I don't know if BioWare would expect new or casual players to keep up with all these long "complicated" elven names, since "Ghilan'nain" and "Elgar'nan" do sound kinda similar and people might get them mixed up. lmao So having Elgar'nan and Andruil might be a bit more distinguishable, just for the sake of making it a little easier for new players lol (I mean, they have changed names before to avoid this problem, like when the Tevinter city "Qarinus" was turned into "Ventus" because it sounded too similar to "Qunari", I think? 😂).

I don't know if any of this actually answered your question, I feel like I got carried away by like a mile. 😂 I don't know how I got from "D'Read Koda" on the vinyl to tentacles, but here we are. 😂 Those are my thoughts on.... a lot of stuff. lol

new hampshire: gay. pretends hes civilised and a functional member of society. actually unhinged. rich as fuck parents. reads textbooks for fun. has a fancy looking dog. dresses like an old money equestrian. probably plays polo. what a loser.

new jersey: greasy. part of the garden club. pretends he isn't. refuses to admit he likes flowers. a total fucking nerd even if he pretends he hates school. straight a's. gym bro vibes. smokes in the bathroom and sets off the fire alarm way too much. probably listens to andrew tate. uses an entire can of axe body spray every morning. its like tear gas as he walks down the hallway. contributes to 47% of greenhouse gas emissions.

new mexico: dude has a whole feast in his lunchbox. he shares with everyone except colorado. will fight people. very scrappy. we love him. fucks up all these other bitches in spanish class. likes acting as a wizard at any opportunity he can. he strikes me as a band kid. owns 14 pet chihuahuas and he loves them dearly.

new york: pretends he ain't a theatre kid. everyone knows he is. also has rich as fuck parents. hes giving wears designer clothes that look exactly like regular ones. he bursts into song when he's alone in his bedroom. its giving 2008 taylor swift vibes. wishes he owned a cape. tries to hit new jersey with his car. has a rattail.

north carolina: country boy my beloved. football is love football is life. has a secret love of pirates. can often be found rambling to random people, despite this he is horribly socially anxious and is rambling because he cannot make small talk. very friendly, nice guy, often shows new people around. he's trying to work on his social anxiety. brought an opossum to school in his bag once. south carolina acts like hes 12. southie thinks it's funny to tell him he has school on days off. north falls for it most times.

north dakota: hockey player. nerd. wears glasses. constantly dressed for cold weather. carries around his books like he's the main character. does a lot better in school than south dakota. quieter. nice guy though. pushes up his glasses a lot in that nerdy way. pretends he and south aren't related. despite the fact they are almost identical twins.

ohio: unfunny class clown. his jokes are oddly specific and mildly disturbing. the ultimate band kid. he plays everything. can often be found standing eerily at the end of dim hallways. does not know what homework is. blinks too much.

oklahoma: wears cowboy boots everywhere. claims he's not a cowboy. also pretends he's not a theatre kid. can't fuckin drive for shit. got banned from running track because he kept getting disqualified for running before the starting signal. smh oklahoma.

oregon: there are no books in his backpack. just monster cans. hasn't slept a day in his life since he started highschool. he does those tiktok interview thingies with random people. most are classmates. hes a tryhard. gay as fuck. drinks a Terrifying amount of caffeine.

Hey just letting you know I wanna hear your zombie concept

Ok so while it's not 100% original, I'm really proud of my spin on it.

The zombie virus is loosely based on the Ophiocordyceps unilateralis fungus (the one that takes over bugs n stuff). Instead of just a fungus taking over, I wanted to play with how many mushrooms can communicate with each other.

So basically hivemind zombies, all connected through one main host, or Patient Zero. PZ is some random caver who was completely taken over by the fungi. Because I wanna be quirky, instead of being devoured, Patient Zero's main focus besides food is spreading as far as it physically can. So it migrated itself to Rugby, North Dakota (because Google told me that's the center of the North American continent) and is adamant about staying there despite scientists' efforts to remove PZ from the area. The thought process was like how the Zombie Ant fungus makes the ant go into obvious spaces so it'll get eaten by a bird.

Patient Zero is completely coherent, by the by. Part of the way the fungus decided to evolve was instead of rapidly consuming the host it instead releases a pheromone so while the host is completely aware of what is happening to them, they're fine with it because it's like a little happy chemical dump.

Another important thing for the concept is how coherent the fungus is the closer a zombie is to the host. A zombie in South Dakota is going to act very differently from a zombie in Texas or Alaska.

I know this is super rambly, dont be shy to ask clarifying questions because I really wanna go further into things but this is super messy already. I AM planning on doodling concepts to explain some of the things here a little better...

So I seem to have missed Cavendish day here is a little fanfic (which I hope is readable) to apologize :

Impressions Part 1

"I can't believe that we are more successful cleaning houses in the Renaissance than protecting pistachios " Balthazar Cavendish and Vinnie Dakota were strolling along the Danville park,

reconciling after their recent mission.

" yeah... but it was kinda good we failed? Nut jobber-dominated future and all? "

" I suppose so " cavendish answered still lost in thoughts.

" but still, it's frustrating to fail as of some unpredictable hazzard, forced upon us by murphy's law ."

"yeah, hey let's ask milo but a little crash course on managing murphy's law. Or wait! Maybe he has some relatives in the future who would join us" The Italian joked

cavendish gave a skeptical look ": I don't know, a little briefing by milo is surely advised but a new partner?

I'm rather content, with the two of us. "

"you are?" Dakota crocked, looking up.

"Granted we didn't quite got along at first, which had me rather concerned about our carrier's future and yes there still is room for improvement.

But when the situation calls for it, we make quite a good team. "

Dakota couldn't help but flash a bright smile. Happy at his partner's conclusion.

Since it was still early they decided to stay in the park. They walked by some snack stands, before seating themselves on a nearby bench.

" you know it's amusing actually," cavendish continued after a few minutes of silence, "if you didn't hijack my car that day, we would have never even met .. "

While cavendish stroked his chin thinking

Dakota relaxed into the bench, feet stretched out in front of him. He chuckled not knowing how he deserved cavendish in such a good mood.

" well what do you know, paid off listening to my gut" the Italian placed one hand on his stomach.

cavendish however seemed more confused by this answer.

"your gut ?"

" well yeah speaking of which. " Dakota said looking around the park until his eyes locked on a food stand. "I could use a little snack"

"We just had breakfast " Cavendish declared with a serious eyeroll.

Dakota shrugged and got up, digging through his pockets for cash.

"My gut says otherwise"

"So that's how you make all your major decisions? By following some random feelings of your gastrointestinal organs. " cavendish had crossed his arms and looked at Dakota with angry eyes.

"Oh come on, you just admitted that that's why we met in the first place " the other one teased

"Oh how lovely to know we're only partners thanks to your gluttonous desires. "

Dakota was starting to get annoyed by his partner.

For Cavendish mood - swings were somewhat normal. And while Dakota could normally ignore him going on about his eating habits, today he had a hard time just shrugging it of. Especially with Cavendish so happy before, it just didn't fit. Dakota had a feeling that this wasn't just about his need for food.

However, his thoughts were interrupted by a still rambling cavendish.

" one imagine I decided to bring tea instead of a Lolli.

Maybe I should pin one to our objectives, seeing how it's the one thing to catch your attention. "

The brit finished, arms and legs crossed. He almost looked like a pounding child thought the Italian.

Then it suddenly hit Vinnie.

So that was cavendish's problem. He should have guessed. it seemed that he had misjudged his partner. He was better at hiding his emotions than Vinnie thought.

" Cav if there's something you wanna know you can just ask" the Italian calmly stated seating him next to cavendish again. "you know?" He added looking his partner in the eyes.

Cavendish looked like he wanted to say something but decided against it. Instead, he turned his head forward to the lake in front of the bench.

"I m afraid I can't follow." was his only response

What has this to do with cav day? will I be able to make a satisfying continuation (I really wrote myself in a corner🙈)

how do u think the pd band came together originally. also side question what kind of music/songs do u think they like to play

they play WILDLY random songs. taking their canon music tastes + their views on heroes and mashing them togetehr for this but like. dakota obviously is a massive prime force fan but he knows like every top 40s hit from the last decade However . 90s punk fan <- CANON. so theres a lot of influences in anything he'd do a cover kf. ashe and william are more similar in that they both like more rock/poppunk but i think ashe leans more towards screamo and instrumentals while will just likes indie rock in general. vyncent. actually i cant remember if condi joined the conversation on music their characters would listen to. i think hes fucking all over the place though. he'll be like guys i found this new song wanna hear :) and its something he found on a usb in an alley with like 5 views on youtube but it fucks.

so like overall its definitely more a pock/punk lean but its fucking all over the place. the last show i went to did a rock/metal cover of riptide thats the kind of vibe id imagine. i . rambled

The Ahsoka finale was something. I have thoughts to say the least, but am glad it is being labeled a "season finale" on Disney+ rather than a series finale. This could be meaningless, but it does give me comfort that it's certainly not the end of this story.

Other random thoughts: not fully sure why, but Ezra's reunion with Hera and Chopper is the one that got me the most emotional; I really hope Baylan's story is continued in like a novelization or something because I found his character so interesting and I want to know more about him/his path; the Mortis Gods and Morai-AHHHHH!

On a completely different note, my night greatly improved upon watching Spy x Family's new opening. So cute and absolutely cannot wait for the new season to start! I'm so excited for more Forger family stories and the return of Spy x Family Saturdays!

watching the r primary debate with some red wine as streamed by a smarmy liberal dude. holy fucking shit a shitshow.

recap from a snarky blue haired progressive:

They opened with a message from Biden. Then a SONG that the candidates had to analyze the popularity of.

They all played Blame The Dems For The Economy, except Haley, who also quoting statistics on why the Republicans suck economically.

Christie said Ramaswamy talked like ChatGPT. Dammit Christie, I can't unhear it.

We got a whole 19 minutes in before the first "deep state" - DeSantis broke the levee on that one.

Minute 24: There was a video call from someone representing a conservative youth group. The kid basically said that climate change is biggest issues for young voters. How will you assure the American voter (esp the young voter) that you as prez/party leader care about this? The hosts asked for a show of hands if you believe humans are driving CC. Before anybody could Florida Man went on a rant about economics and China.

wait is Haley against the Dobbs decision? okay kindasorta asterick-asterick but she's WAY more moderate than the Florida man or the rest of the squad on stage. And also more realistic about getting the required senate votes. and actually named not arresting women for getting abortions.

DeSantis then had to ramble about abortion and how /he/ got it through in Florida and how he could totally get a national 6 week ban or more.

Minute 37 before anybody invoked their Christianity as political stance - Pencey-wency. (re aborsh).

oh the north dakota guy exists. right. he actually opposes a federal abortion ban. actually shocked he believes in the 10th amendment to that degree.

oh the Arkansas guy exists. he seems to think, much like Pence and DeSantis, he can just push it through on sheer power of will. same for Tim Scott.

Damn I wish I could play live shit on 2X.

Pencey-wency is walking a tight fucking line re Trumples.

47 minutes at invocation of Hunter Biden. (Christie, on crime).

49 minutes for "George Soros" (Florida Man).

ND Man's solution to crime to learn from small towns.

The Ukraine funding is actually showing some difference in opinion. This seems to be the issue with the most diversity of opinion.

Bit of a strange question I know, but as someone who's head over heels with your art I'm really curious if you have a colour palette that you really enjoy using. 👀👀👀👀

Not a strange question. I don’t really get asked questions. I wasn’t sure how to answer it because, I have a crazy amount of color palettes. 52 to be exact. I am, a mess, and should probably be ashamed of how messy half of them are. I am also a nerd for color, so strap in as I ramble. I’ll apologize now for it.

My favorites are my skin tone palettes. Of which I have four I rely on regularly (except commissions where I have to match specific tones). I wish I could say I color wheeled all the colors and organized them like a champ. I did not. I pull colors from references and those four stuck with me. Aptly named after the characters I used them for (Kyna, Amara, Angel, Dakota). Dakota being the one I use the most. I love them because skin is so luscious and complex, just with color.

My first palette (the first color is my pencil color that I use for every sketch). Not that you asked for it. See how messy I can get? It’s just random colors I keep coming back to, scattered around.

Random thing in “Lady Krillers” I never really gave much thought about before : That one scene when Cav and Dak see the alien in the bag and Dakota starts shielding Cavendish.

On first glance, yeah it’s a cute scene and it’s great to see Cav’s more sensitive and vulnerable side. But at the same time, there’s the fact that Cav just drops down in that moment.

Like, he could have easily just stayed standing up in order to be able to run away more easily if it came to this. But instead, he drops on all fours and grabs Dakota’s legs, basically letting his life rest into Dakota’s hands.

Of course, this fits with the scene right before this one. When they see the alien pop out of the bag, Cavendish immediately jumps into Dakota’s arms, letting Dak take care of him and protect him. Also looking back I just noticed that, once Cav jumps into Dak’s arms, he keeps looking at Dakota instead of the potentially harmful alien. It’s like he’d rather give Dakota a pleading look and wait for him to act instead of keeping an eye on the danger itself, thus making it seem even more like he’s putting his faith into Dakota.

This actually makes me wonder how long has Cavendish been doing this kind of things. Is it new because he saw the island so he now understands how easy it is for him to die ? Or has it been a while since he started letting himself rely on Dak ?

I mean, we see in the death montage of “The Island of Lost Dakotas” that he sometimes notices Dak saving him (the spacesuit one being the best example). So you could imagine that he recognizes Dakota as someone with fast reflexes that he can rely on whenever he thinks he’s about to die (tbh this is actually how I see Cav).

Also, in “Missing Milo”, not only does he instantly let Dakota take charge when they arrive in the future (though Cav absolutely gets ideas to stop the pistachions later on), but there’s also the peach paradox scene (my beloved) in which, when Dak points out the pistachions, Cav says “What are we going to do ?” while hiding and looking at Dakota, again relying on Dak to take care of the menace. And sure, it ends with Cavendish being the one who throws the peach, but at the same time Dakota is the one telling him to do so. So you get the point.

(And I guess it’s also worth pointing out how he never protests when Dak “handles” him. Like when Dak pushes him away from a deadly situation. Or in the crossover, when Dak pushes the two of them down while on the island after Cav sees the other Daks. Or later on, still in the crossover, when Dak holds Cav bridal style to save him from a pistachion)

Lastly, I want to point out how, later in “Lady Krillers”, you have that chase montage (that I hate), which ends with Dak using Cav as bait for the bison, and Cav goes along with it. Makes you wonder just how much trust Cavendish has towards Dakota when it comes to his own life.

Just some random thoughts. Obvious stuff as per usual but I miss rambling about random shit. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
