I don’t have anything clever to say about it, but the “match scene” from Death of the Family is definitely the part I think about most. That scene was great, in my opinion. It did a wonderful job at making me feel tense and anxious about what the hell Bruce was going to do. Was he going to stand and ignite the fire (which is what he ended up doing) or would he let Joker throw back the match? I could feel Bruce’s thoughts race and the overall pressure of what was going to happen. The family’s gaze fixated on Bruce. And Joker.
I think I can safely say that the match was a test. I’m not great with words or analyzes like I used to be, so I’m not sure I can explain my thoughts around that clearly. But I think about what goes through Joker’s head. And the point. Perhaps the match was a parallel to “no matter what, you always end up with me. You love me more than you love them. You let me get them. You let me hurt them and murder them.” No matter what, the room was going to go up in flames due to Bruce standing up on his own, choosing Joker, or letting Joker hurt them again.
Ouch.

dp x dc prompt #53
Bruce thought he knew what to expect when it came to a fight between ghosts.
Danny had always phrased it like some sort of schoolyard scuffle, or a brawl in a ring. Looking back, Danny managed to gloss over or completely deflect any details that could worry them, but Bruce really thought that it was because his son didn’t want to worry him with any concerning details.
He was really starting to regret that.
Phantom and the ancient clashed like two natural disasters converging, howling and clawing at everything around them as they forgot to put any effort into maintaining their form. Dark clouds blew cold rain down on the barely visible combatants, and it was impossible to distinguish the shriek of the fighting ghosts and the wind. Bruce could hardly find it in himself to react as crumbling stonework rained around him, and Dick pulled him completely off his feet to get him away from the calamity going on in front of him. It was nothing less than apocalyptic. It was beautiful.
(Danny was finally getting the chance to be, maybe not normal, but human with his new home. It was an unbelievably easy transition to get settled in. That should have been his first sign that something would inevitably go wrong.)

Finally decided to post my solo Jason Todd because he is the love of my life and I realized I never actually drew him by himself which obviously needed to be fixed. And yes, I read DC vs. Vampires and felt inspired! XD  Print

Bruce tends to have depression days, both minor and major. Everyone knows by now that he hardly opens up and shows the weakest side of him, making sure that his duty and his job help others before helping himself. Yeah he goes to therapy, he tries to keep himself going with the support of others and tries his damned hardest but even the dark knight can't do everything continuously without breaking every once in a while. Yes he has his family, his employees at Wayne Industries and the Justice League but he needs to wind down and stay in bed all day once in a while. And who comes to his aid by hearing him softly say he just needs him? Yep, Clark Kent. Alfred is already used to hearing the familiar knocking on the door so he even gave Clark a copy of the key to the manor whenever he's called by Bruce. Once he gets to the bedroom, Clark already knows that Bruce just needs a good long week of him and Clark only. No one else, just him and Clark. Day one is just Clark arriving with a bag full of a week's worth of clothes and necessities, plopping down onto the bed with Bruce and snuggling him all day. They are total opposites; Bruce's a night owl and Clark's a morning person, one's grumpy in the morning and the other's happy and cheerful, but on a week like this? They're perfect for each other. Day two is spent with the two being Lazy Dads, Clark's kids visiting and also staying over with the batkids while Bruce and Clark take naps together or watch movies/shows on Netflix together. Day three consists mostly of sleep, possible fun times (if you get what I mean *wiggles eyebrows*) and no one else being in the manor. Cause y'know. Yeah you know. Day four and five consists of them cuddling more, napping more and having small talks together. Day six is reading in the garden, going out to eat and sleeping in the library. Day seven is mostly the day Bruce hates the most, cause Clark's leaving but Bruce is feeling better and not so stuck in a rut. He and Clark spend the day together, they eat out and have more possible fun times (*more eyebrow wiggling*) before things go back to normal. Had this week not happen, Bruce would be listening to Lana Del Rey's sad songs while drinking wine and being melodramatic to fit the mood. Cause he's a Wayne and I personally believe every Wayne is dramatic (like Martha and Thomas)

Ok so this post I did got me inspired sooooo
So it starts off kinda the same, Danny and Alfred met before Alfred worked for the Waynes but in this one they continued to talk. So when Bruce’s parents were killed and Alfred found himself having to raise a very traumatised child and struggling to he decided “hey maybe a former traumatised child in the form of my hood friend Danny can help!!”
So Alfred asks Bruce is his friend can stay for awhile for totally no reason at all and Danny comes to live with them. Danny after living with them for like a week takes a step back and is like “god is this what I was like as a kid??” And decides to do everything he can to help Bruce in either civilian life or later with his night life.
Just… I need Alfred and Danny co-parenting Bruce. I think it’d be hellacious

The batfamily is so used to Damian's grown-up act that they forget that he IS, in fact, a child.
So it was just another day, when Dick bunch of pics to the gp
Only to be a pic of Damian dressed like a mini life guard in his Cheese Vikings swim trucks and batman themed rashguard
And... another pic of him standing still with his eyes closed, holding a beach bucket full of bath and dog toys while alfred applies sunscreen to his nose.
Apparently, Alfred had sent him to bathe the animals.... A very child like activity? So, the rest of the photos consisted of snapshots of little Dami with his pets.
Damian filling up a kiddie pool big enough to fit batcow.
Bathing batcow and titus inside said pool. With Jerry drinking from it.
Damian trying to take cover when Titus dries himself.
The bat kids are baffled to see him acting his age for one
AND LATER Bruce sends a photo of Damian laying in the grass, buried under a pile of sundrying pets.

songs about romance will be like "i love you baby we should kiss" whereas songs about your platonic best buddy will be like. Well we bursted out of class had to get away from those fools we learned more from a three minute record baby then we've ever learned in school tonight i hear the neighborhood drummer sound i can feel my heart begin to pound you say you're tired and you just wanna close your eyes and follow your dreams down well we made a promise we swore we'd always remember no retreat baby no surrender. like soldiers in the winter's night with a vow to defend no retreat baby no surrender. Ans now young faces grow sad and old and hearts of fire grow cold. we swore blood brothers against the wind now i'm ready to grow young again and hear your sister's voice calling us home across the open yards well maybe we could cut someplace of our own with these drums and these guitars cause we made a promise we swore we'd always remember no retreat baby no surrender blood brothers in the stormy night with a vow to defend no retreat baby no surrender. now on the street tonight the lights grow dim the walls of my room are closing in there's a war outside still raging you say it ain't ours anymore to win. i wanna sleep beneath peaceful skies in my lover's bed with a wide open country in my eyes and these romantic dreams in my head cause once we made a promise we swore we'd always remember no treat baby no surrender blood brothers in the stormy night with a vow to defend no retreat, baby, no surrender no retreat baby no surrender

ppl just don’t talk ab this ENOUGH. Bruce is a better parent than Talia?? PU-LEASE! Talia would be so proud her baby was listening and taking what she said to heart and trying his best to do better!! she would give him a soft, private smile, and not make a super big deal ab it, but would make sure her child knows he’s heard.

Jason staggered to the edge of the crater, watching Bruce haul himself and Scandal over the edge. Bruce’s distraught scream into the flames went unanswered. It must be a feeling he’s used to. Screaming regrets into flames. But not once did Bruce look away from the green glow. Not once did he gasp through tears to an equally unknowing Scandal or beg Oracle for answers.
Answers about whether Jason was dead or alive. Again.
“Don’t do this!” Bruce had roared over the comms. Until he promptly forgot he ever cared at all.
Green tinted smoke streamed into the sky. Heat rolled in waves from the hunk of meteor cradled deep in the earth. As if the dirt and rock and dumped construction trash all parted to make way for and embrace this strange new arrival. One made of the same but different parts. Yet it was still held.
Jason stood panting beside the crumpled husk of the Batjet. When the meteor he'd flown straight at hadn’t killed him, he was sure whatever was infecting his brain would, making his heart beat so hard and fast it was bound to pop like a balloon. Yet he still lived. Unfortunately.
He staggered to the edge of the crater, watching Bruce haul himself and Scandal over the edge.
“You deserve this.” The words shook but there was no stutter to Jason’s satisfaction. Bruce’s spine stiffened. “You,” Jason repeated, louder this time, “deserve this. Because this is your fault.” Selena was kind to him. Cared. And her life was ruined too.
Now Bruce rose to his feet, turns his distraught look on Jason, reaches for him, “Jay—”
He didn’t know if an accusation or relief would follow his name. Jason didn’t let Bruce say another word. He slapped the grasping hand away, taking a step back. “No, y-you don’t touch me! Don’t ever t-touch me again! I’d rather die than be touched by you.” When he was a child, letting someone get close enough to lay hands on him was a sign that they won his trust. That no harm would come from them. He’d let far too many people touch him since then.

Me: I love Batman's villains, and Batman himself is ok in some depictions; But, I doubt I will ever be a Bruce fan and that's ok.
Robby Pat's Bruce Wayne: Wears sunglasses inside. Talks like he listens to MCR and Nirvana exclusively. The one time he is in public he hates it the whole time. Refuses to talk to the shareholders of his family company and would rather just go broke. Is. Drenched.
Me: .....ok I'm listening.

There's something about that first meeting with Bruce, Terry and Powers that really gets me. Its so, so early in our titular heroes' partnership. They're still testing each other, weary about how the hell they're going to do this without someone ending up dead. But in this moment, Terry goes at Powers and the only thing holding him back is a single moment of looking at Bruce, and he backs off. This kid, who grew angry at a single comment from a high school friend or his dad being disappointed in him just a short time before, keeps his cool in front of the guy who murdered his dad. Just because just Bruce walking away says not now, not yet.
Terry obviously wants revenge on Powers, but I feel like it's not discussed much that Bruce does too. Batman is not the only legacy the Wayne's left in Gotham. Their company funded a lot of the welfare and social programs in a corrupt system, and it's an incredible amount of power in the hands of someone who doesn't care or is actively malicious. But that was the Bruce Wayne side of the mission. And the problem with that is that Bruce never really just let himself be Bruce Wayne. He had to have both or nothing, put every single part of himself into the mission.
Terry reclaims Batman, and with someone else under the cowl, Bruce finally reclaims Bruce Wayne. Powers and his hold over Gotham couldn't have been broken without Terry and Bruce working together, both in ways that would've been practically impossible without the other. When Blight dies, there's not even a question if they'll stop. Their redemption is already too far along.
I think part of the reason why Bruce kind of has this begrudging respect, this love/hate relationship with Terry's penchant for forgiveness is how it extends to him. I'd like to think that at first, Terry may have had resentment for what Bruce did with his company. If Bruce hadn't given up, Powers wouldn't have had the power to do what he did, and get away without legal consequence. But I'm not sure he would've held on to that resentment for long, or have it more then a thought in anger. Terry understands what causes someone to fall. As Terry said in the first episode, Something happened to you, and it wasn't just that you got old.
Bruce trains Terry, sees the potential in him to become Batman. But Terry also sees that Bruce could be better and pushes him to do so. He offers Bruce forgiveness and a second chance from his past failings. To make it up to the city he poured so much into and then abandoned. The really interesting thing is that Bruce doesnt offer that back, Terry's drive to be a better person is solely from himself. Bruce hates himself enough to stay in his misery, but Terry is the city's answer. So what? Life is not over. It's never too late. The push to take a risk and care again, about Batman, about himself, and about Gotham.
It starts here. When Bruce finally stands up to Powers, the figure of guilt and anger both if them share, and says no, I'm not going to let you do this anymore.

i think youve talked about something similar before, but do we get to see proof of batman genuinely caring for joker? and not having an excuse of "oh im doing this because i need joker to be fine so i can save other people".
sometimes i get paranoid and think that the whole batjokes thing is just my shipper brain speculating and i have to look at all the evidente again so i dont think im crazy lmao 😅
There's plenty of instances of Bruce caring about Joker, and yeah, I've talked about various aspects of it in different asks. There's a more extensive response I posted a while back as part of an interesting Batjokes discussion, in which OP argued that Bruce does not reciprocate, and I disagreed; you can find that here (though fair warning, that whole chain of reblogs is loooong). I also answered some asks about Bruce finding Joker funny here, and about Bruce constantly saving Joker's life here, and made a compilation of some of the best times Bruce got incredibly unhinged over Joker here.
But I'm assuming you mean... Bruce blatantly spelling it out that he cares about Joker, with zero alternative excuse? Since Bruce is so repressed and caring about Joker is something he cannot easily admit to himself, these moments are rare. But if I were to point some of them out, I'd say the ending to Batman: The Killing Joke remains to this day one of the biggest.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
No matter how you look at it, Bruce telling Joker "You needn't be out there on the edge anymore. You needn't be alone," right after Joker shot Barbara in the spine... is something that’s difficult to explain away. Not to mention Bruce laughing alongside Joker -- maybe you could argue that Bruce offering to rehabilitate Joker is just something he'd do with all his villains (which isn't actually true, Bruce hasn't had a moment like this with anyone else), but the joined laughter has no possible "excuse" on Bruce's side. It's commiseration, plain and simple.
Then there's Batman: Endgame, and the insanity that is the ending of that comic. And leaving aside the heart-shaped pool of blood, the sheer suggestiveness in the imagery of their fight... Leaving aside Bruce choosing to die alongside Joker, literally pleading with Joker to stay with him as he dies -- there's this:
Tumblr media
Batman calls Joker a friend. This cannot be understood as anything else but what it is; Bruce allowing himself to admit he cares about Joker, at the end of the road. Arguing otherwise ignores the context of the story and the writing that came before and after it (besides indicating a worrying lack of media literacy).
And hey, have some Batman and Joker canonically kissing, in Flashpoint: Batman -- Knight of Vengeance:
Tumblr media
Yes, it is Thomas Wayne who's Batman, and it's Martha Wayne who's Joker, but I think that's plenty. There's a Universe in which Joker is Batman's wife. The sheer fact this is a thing that exists inevitably implies that Batman and Joker have romantic potential.
But I'll leave you off with the beauty that is Bruce being directly called out on his Joker bullshit in Injustice: Gods Among Us -- Year 1, by his best friend:
Tumblr media
Eyy! If you're crazy, Clark (and Alfred, and Tim, and Selina, and Barbara, and many other characters who have explicity remarked on Bruce's unusual attachment to Joker) are too!
I hope this answer helped! <3 But either way, leaving aside the fact Batjokes objectively has plenty of canon support, my advice would be not to stress yourself out by caring too much about evidence. Shipping, and fandom in general, is supposed to be fun. We're in control over here, and we do what we want. So even if you were crazy, that'd be perfectly fine, as far as I'm concerned.
