After watching the What If 2 Hydra Stomper episode, I have one thing to say - *sighs, gestures to everything*

Stucky should have been a love story. It's a crime that it wasn't. This ep literally proved what we've been saying - their relationship would be romantic if one of them was a girl.

Even here, Bucky is the one who stares into the gun and tries to talk Steve down while Peggy just jumps him.

It takes a couple words from Bucky to make Steve hesitate and Peggy has to literally monologue at him.

Steggy was cute in TFA but it was barely more than a casual relationship and I need Marvel to let it go. They already ruined Steve's character once because of it, what more do they want? (But then again, if they stop forcing Steve's straight romance down our throats, what is there to stop up from *gasp* imagining him in love with his male friend!)

I think Marvel wanted Steggy to be this love story for the ages that all the fans would root for but... after making three movies about how much his childhood best friend means to him, having Steve stare at a compass of a girl he's known for barely two years a couple times just pales in comparison.

Also, off topic but kind of related, it's honestly laughable that here you have this series all about exploring the possibilities and yet there's not even one queer character.

What do you know, turns out I had more than one thing to say.

Sometimes I wonder if Steve ever feels small post-serum. Obviously, he's a massive dude now, mentally he always kinda has been anyway and he can't get sick anymore, it's rare he loses a fight like he used to, people treat him like he's the most important guy in the room but everyone has their off days.

Part of him believes it comes from a place of exhaustion, because lord does he feel excessively fatigued on these days. It's easy to overwork yourself in this job, maybe he's had mission upon mission and this is how his body is telling him he needs a break or maybe it's something with less build-up. Maybe it's the anniversary of his mother's passing, maybe he's missing Bucky, or maybe it's just 'one of those days.'

Despite his now healthy stature with strong bones and enough muscles to punch someone through a wall, he feels tiny, like he might have to puff up his chest and raise his voice, like he once did, just to be heard. He doesn't want to do that anymore, he definitely doesn't have to nowadays and he's much too tired to bother, even if he did need to do. So he'll try to stay away from people.

If anyone crosses his path with a curious look, he'll just say he's feeling a bit unwell and will be back to normal tomorrow, he usually is anyway.

He'll always get back something along the lines of "I didn't know you could get sick anymore" or "Didn't the serum stop that?" and Steve will pull out some excuse about aliens he dealt with recently or "all the fancy modern technology hurting his head."

People believe that one much too quickly.

He'll stay in his quarters and do something quiet like reading a novel, looking at some of the photos and sketchbooks he reclaimed from the Smithsonian or watching a movie.

Never has he been more appreciative of modern technology than when it came to 'streaming services.' He might watch Trouble in Paradise, it was one of his Ma's favourites, she loved the drama of it all. Or maybe he'd watch one of those dumb cowboy movies Bucky used to rage about in the 40s.

He'd fall asleep on the couch and wake up the next morning like nothing had happened. Just as he usually was, Strong, tall, he felt like it too. And he moves on because really, he doesn't feel like that often, it's never affected a mission or anything important and he's as right as rain now. He just needed a day. A day to feel small.

I will forever hold a grudge against the MCU for many things but especially for the way they handled Tony and Steve's relationship after Civil War. Because if Civil War was really supposed to be a conflict where no one side was fully right or wrong, where no one was the true winner or loser... then what the hell was Endgame.

Tony gets to yell at Steve about how all of it was his fault and how he wasn’t there when Tony needed him and Steve gets to act like a kicked dog trying to prove to its master that it’s still good for the whole movie?

"I needed you and you weren't there." And yet, it was Steve extending the olive branch at the end of Civil War, arguably risking his own safety by sending that phone, and it was Tony deciding not to take it in Infinity War, when he chose not to call Steve and fuck off to space.

"I needed you and you weren't there." Tony needed him and yet it was him who didn’t even give Steve the chance to be there.

And yet Tony doesn’t get that mistake thrown in his face and held against him like Steve does.

Now, I do think that their behavior is completely in character. Just as it makes sense to me that Tony snaps the way he does, it would surprise me if Steve did the same.

And I don't actually think Tony believes it was all Steve's fault. I think he’s at least partially only acting like it to deflect his own guilt, but the movie never shows that. The narrative acts like it agrees with him and like all the guilt is on Steve's shoulders.

And that feels a lot like there was a right side and a winner.
