Ember, thanks for choosing Nero. I don't really talk about him enough, or, well, I rarely ever do talk about him at all sadly, and this injustice has to be eliminated! I adore the nephew/son, and he is a precious punk boi who I should appreciate more.

ONE-ARMED NERO. I love Nero for many things, but his time as a wounded/disabled is my favourite period of him for real. Boi was truly physically Hurt for the, probably, second only time in his life and he didn't stop for a second when the situation called for all hands on deck. One-Armed Nero literally stared down a demon king that has killed Dante before his eyes, and went 'I can take him'.

Of course, part of it was pure spite, sparda losers are known to be very good at using it as fuel, but also, this takes some fucking Guts and I really respect him for that.

Also the one-handed reload animation. I love many things about DMC5, but one-handed Nero reload animation might be the most underappreciated thing in this fandom, in my opinion.

the fact that he got his arm to regrow. I genuinely wish he didn't. Being disabled didn't slow the boi down even for a second, he was even able to fight properly before Nico invented Breakers, Breakers themselves are very creative tools to help Nero be more capable in a fight, plus he even got two additional gorgeous dt wingclaws!

Just imagine if Nero didn't regrow his arm back:

The twins will have a constant visual reminder how close they were to losing everything they love, that despite how unimaginably bad it had gotten in dmc1 - dmc5 story was much Worse.

Nero himself would remain the same way he was. He could use with wingclaws to help with tasks if he really needs two hands, but he also adapted to living with only one hand. Maybe he could use the wingclaws to wield Red Queen and shoot at the same time.

I know some people enjoy the fantasy of a disabled character finding a 'cure' for their disability, but I am not one of those. I want to see characters suffer, get support from their family and then heal to live on with what they go through.

NeroKiri. This is the rare case when I'm mostly happy we don't see much more of a canon Kyrie, cause I do not trust Capcom with any female characters at all, and I doubly so don't trust them with female characters from DMC specifically. So yeah, I'm glad here our fandom hands are free to make up our own version of Kyrie and her relationship with Nero. I do believe Kyrie to be a very capable and strong woman in her own right, otherwise Nero wouldn't have fallen for her.

sorry not sorry for this, but I heavily dislike the common fandom interpretation of the orphans he and Kyrie foster. Nero is a mature boi for sure, but not mature enough to be fostering children. It works for me if the fostering is a temporary solution, then he and Kyrie are more or less like camp counsellors or older siblings role, but I don't like the situation remaining that way forever. Don't get me wrong, I adore found families, it just seems to me like Nero is not mature enough to be raising children, half his age ones at that. At least, nothing I have seen in canon suggests he is mature enough for this.

I think the funniest crossover ever would be Pizza Tower and Devil May Cry. We got one anxious pizza joint owner, Peppino Spaghetti, who would pummel someone with his bare fists while going at Mach 4 like a maniac. Then there's the wahoo half devil pizza man, Dante Sparda, that hunts demons for a living and has major family drama.

Dante would be such a common visitor to this strange pizza joint for two reasons. One is the pizza is actually good. Two Peppino practically the most interesting person he has ever met. Dante is convinced that this man got demon heritage from seeing him beat the shit out of any demons who try wreck the joint.

Hell there is a gooey doppelganger he seen multiple times with an apparent appetite for demon meat, living pizza toppins who dance around and another chef that rides on a giant ass rat. Peppino meanwhile just glad Dante pays for his massive amount of food(thank Vergil whose tired of his little brother's tab lifestyle. He does the funds.) He still doesn't know how this guy with the big ass sword even found his shop.

I got even funnier yet wholesome crack thought in the form of Nero being adopted by Peppino. He magically disappears from the orphanage doors and instead pops up outside the diner. Peppino is fucking confused as he just finished closing up his new restaurant only to find a baby. (DMC and PT are separate worlds that can be accessed through particular areas.)

Cue instant panic since who the hell would leave a baby here?! He can't exactly leave the kid here as there is no place to take him anywhere. Thus the start of reluctant dad Peppino and Nero Ink Spaghetti with special guest uncle Gustavo!

It was definitely a struggle raising a baby alongside running a pizza joint but our anxious man manages to do it. Peppino is an absolute happy crier when it comes to Nero's big accomplishments. Especially making his first pizza by himself as he definitely teaches our quarter devil how to cook.

Although Peppino hates the Noise a lot more than him being a usual nuisance. He can handle the mean pranks when it's on him but his son? You can thank one notorious mishap with the Noise that awakened a 10 year old Nero's Devil Trigger.

The kid was absolutely a fucking wreck when it happen not because he have no clue on his heritage nor demons completely. It's how Peppino would react as the man who raised him like a son is a massive ball of PTSD from being a retired war veteran. The man definitely got spooked when his kid burst into flames.

Nero being able to change into some kind of devil wouldn't make Peppino reject him though. This was just another side that everyone would have to get used too but yeah. Peppino definitely hates the Noise with passion after this incident.

Nero's first adventure actually doesn't start in Devil May Cry 4 but instead Pizza Tower which takes place a year before it. Due to Pizzaface antics, father and son got separated for quite awhile. Taking on the various levels of each floor before finally reuniting at Fake Peppino's boss stage: Bruno's Pizza.

Nero stole a random sword on Floor 1 and a gun from Floor 2 as he doesn't has his official gear yet. (He steals that from SWORD while at Fortuna.) Pizza Tower could be considered a perfect playground to figure his own abilities than just Devil Trigger. That and final boss tag team as both were completely done with Pizzaface at that point.

Now things around the diner absolutely changed a bit afterwards. Fake Peppino, Peppy, moved in without warning although Nero wasn't that offput unlike his dad. He absolutely pulled the 'Clone = New Kid' card on Peppino as the Toppins were practically adopted too from how fond said man is with them. (Those little guys taunt whenever Peppino does too!)

Ending up on Fortuna can be considered a Hell Portal in the wrong place at the wrong time. Or it shows up inside Peppino's Diner which practically leads Peppino, Nero, Gustavo, Brick, and Pep to get dragged in devilish shenanigans. You can bet your ass everyone was so fucking befuddled by these newcomers.

Dante the most as he had a feeling who Nero is but not the strange man who piledrived a Balrog with sheer strength and speed. Did Peppino think the half devil is his son's relative? Absofuckinglutely. White hair, can go Devil Time(what he calls Devil Trigger) and the obviously cultish spiel about this 'Sons of Sparda' was enough.

He would've torn into Dante if the man didn't admit to being clueless. (Vergil nor his other halves are safe though. Even V is getting suplexed.) Peppino and Pep do rip Dante a new one when he decides to call Nero deadweight. You don't insult their son/older brother without an ass kicking.

Our Pizza Tower makeshift family get involved in Devil May Cry 5 when Nero didn't call them back for awhile. He had decided to work under Dante so he could get to understand his family heritage better. Nero still calls and visits when he can even bringing Kyrie along.

Peppino did cry upon finding out the two became a couple like the proud dad he is. Kyrie gets quite well with Pep and thinks the Toppins are adorable little fellows. Now I can't forget about Vergil.

You can bet your ass it was fucking awkward when he found out not only Nero is his son but considers this weirdass anxious man as his father. Peppino loathes Vergil to no end especially with the arm cutting to get Yamato. The older Sparda doesn't visit the diner for awhile since Pep would try to tear him apart since he's just as vengeful. Fake Peppino likes the taste of demon flesh btw.

It took some time before things could smooth over between both parties. Now if only Dante and Vergil behave than try to kill each other near his restaurant. Peppino's Diner practically has a two way portal between both worlds due to the Hell Portal in the restaurant incident. (It's in the basement behind a closed door.)

The Devil May Cry crew do visit frequently thanks to that. Mainly Dante since the pizza is not only good but cheaper too. If a demon tries to slip through than Peppino will beat the shit out of it. Also he probably got a Devil Arm shaped like a pizza cutter now that I think about it.

Then again, Peppino's Diner never be the same after a little baby with white hair showed up at the doors. What do you guys think? For now enjoy this little jam.

I think we're all collectively sleeping on the Goddess of Space and Time - the figure depicted by Divinity Statues, who teaches the player characters skills (and grants helpful items) in exchange for Red Orbs - because her existence raises some interesting questions.

I'm Devil May Cry, there's no sign of any life forms besides humans or demons, even creatures that appear angelic are just another kind of demon - Except for the Goddess.

Is she also just another kind of demon, who is worshipped by humans not unlike Sparda himself? Or are there supernatural beings other than demons after all?

And what does she want with all of that demon blood? Is it just some sort of test, to make sure those she's granting her knowledge to will put it to good use? Or is she somehow gaining power from it?

Also, is her knowledge truly limited to combat, or is that just all the devil hunters seek from her? Taking the skill shop hyper-literally, the Goddess also teaches Ex-Provocations, so she's also a divine dance instructor. And what about the items she sells? Blue, Purple, and Gold Orbs, Vital and Devil Stars, Holy Water, even Devil Breakers in at least one instance. Where is she getting them?

Then again, taking game mechanics literally also implies that the knowledge she grants is temporary, since the players have to re-buy skills in each entry. Speaking of game mechanics, why did she accept Proud Souls along with Red Orbs in Devil May Cry 4 anyway?

Also - what is the Void? Is that the Goddess's realm? Is that where she teaches those who do business with her?

And who's building all of these statues, if anyone? I mean, Fortuna makes sense, if they worship a demon who turned on his own kind to defend humanity, it's no surprise they would worship the Goddess as well. But what about the Temen-Ni-Gru? Arkham said it was built by humans who worshipped demons - I think - why would they want anything to do with the Goddess? Was she not always opposed to demons?

There's just so much mystery surrounding the Goddess of Space and Time.

I saw that you've gotten a message about Dance With Devils in the past, but it looks like it was before the recap movie "Dance With Devils Fortuna" came out. The movie has a different ending, and Lindo and Ritsuka actually get together. They have a duet called "Dance with Eternity" in which Ritsuka chooses to be with Lindo over her other love interest, and it even has imagery of them dancing while wearing wedding outfits. It's very cute!!

Speaking of dandevi, went to look at a draft-like version of a fic I was writing between late 2017 and early 2018 that was canon-divergent to the anime because I was full on spite on how the recap movie ended up being (which, still to this day, it’s kind of disappointing... but in hindsight I shouldn’t have had my bar of expectations pretty high due to a bad translation on certain anime-related news website - it wasn’t a realistic outcome, lol, but also... recapping 12 episodes in a hour with some extra material, is a little unfair, as well, I guess?).

Basically, it was like a MeiRitsu "route” fic based on the anime’s events, adding lore from Mage’s side revealed in the game, but definitely divergent from the anime-canon. Because, again, for Fortuna to have happened, it SHOULD have diverged its events a LOT more for a satisfying different ending, at least in my eyes.

Looking back, I remember I wrote over 20 pages and the idea was like skipping some significant events that wouldn’t have changed whatsoever after episode 5 (vaguely retaining each of Ritsuka’s solo moments with the guys... I know this wouldn’t have been perfect, tbh, but attempts were made), but extending them to Mage’s POV, and then alternating stuff here and there (ie “what if he turned out to be the king of the dance instead of Rem”, or “mayhaps I want Azuna to keep living?”) as well.

And MAN, I did (do?) have some great ideas, and my tone of humor was pretty on point, lol. However, I didn’t really continue it due to stuff like work and because I decided to focus more on my own characters and their own project; also, my mind wasn’t fresh anymore on the anime.

From time to time, I have wanted to continue it or even tried to rewrite it, but tbh? I stop myself mostly because that means I should put a definitive ending on it (human? devil? stay? leave?) and, while I do have some headcanons for those... writing them as full is... dfgdfgdg, hard. And, again, my focus in my OC couple has been predominant ever since (the other thing, I guess, is that I write 99% of my stuff in Spanish... so, adding a TL is fun OTL), lol.

While conceiving this album, Lexie plunged into her own spiritual journey to develop something uniquely her own in its sounds and meanings. With its modern techno sound and sitar melodies, ‘FORTUNA’ is a perfect first track. Leading with an 90’s vibe, headlining the production without overworking the music too early on in the track list, this song is about finding our fortunes and feeds into the listener’s curiosity; baiting them into figuring out what the rest of this album has to offer. Closely following the build up in ‘FORTUNA’ is ‘dance dance’, a moody confession about finally being able to dance, free from any external inhibitions and influences. The trance-like haze put forth in ‘dance dance’ cuts short as we’re transported into the electro punk beat ‘3.14159’. Lexie calls out people and their unsolicited opinions, stating that they’ve “got glitter but they ain’t real diamonds.” Her catty lyrics are matched with an energetic, confident tone to round out this air of rebellious freedom that will have you throwing your fists in the air.

‘GANMA’ brings out the haughty, unbothered side out. With an almost chant-like delivery, Lexie’s bass driven rap in the beginning shifts to a lilting realization that since she can’t fall asleep anyways, there’s no point in sticking to routine. One of the more complex compositions in the album, ‘MAGICIAN’ is all about creation and the power to change that which is predestined. ‘DIABLO’ shows us this more sinister side of Lexie’s artistic expression. There’s an art to free-falling, one that Lexie is a master of.

Track 7 marks a turning point having finished her dance with the devil and reveling in chaotic freedom, ‘MIRA’ serves as Lexie’s rediscovery of self. It gathers elements from diverse cultures lyrically, from ‘Tao Te Ching’, ‘The Heart Sutra’ to The Bible. The intense bass line reflects the internal conflict of aggression and passivity, but the classical Chinese instrumentals and her lyrical, whispering vocals towards the end serve as a placid, personal acknowledgement to the answers she’s discovered. Lexie seems to have found peace in ‘Gaia’, by far the most serene track in this album. As the only track on this album that doesn’t stray from a constant, this track is mellow pacing and serves as a nice reprieve from the constant ebb and flow of Lexie’s music. ‘BAD DREAM’ is pure, raw vulnerability. It strips away the high production soundscape packed into the beginning of this album and instead opts for a simpler, soft R&B ballad.

Continuing in this R&B direction, Lexie picks the energy back up with the groovy, afrobeat inspired track ‘RRR’. She’s still pursuing that fortuitous future, but this time Lexie doesn’t mind having someone come along with her. As we near the end of the album, Lexie surprises us with a delicate story of innocent love. In ‘i wanna tell u’, her soft vocals and dream-like melodies wrap around us like a comforting blanket. “The Happy Star” goes full circle in its final track ‘Shanti’, bringing back the techo-infused, retro sounds from the first half of this album and combining it with the softer, uplifting tone of the latter. ‘Shanti’ provides the much needed, final breath of closure in this 12-track journey of an album.

So many things happened within the month! Hopefully I can keep up with it... On the other hand, due to certain things happening with both JP (new character) and EN (different terms), there will be a few tweaks here and there. While this fic series will see continued usage of the Japanese terms (because they sound nicer (what were they thinking when they TL’ed Alice’s concept as Bondage??)  and I’m lazy to change it), this fic in particular will be extended to 13 chapters with the arrival of the new Character to be revealed probably in tonight’s SINoSTREAM. I shall now declare this chapter to be dedicated to @loyalhoetokondo, since her fave character is Red Riding Hood.
