I think a really good relationship dynamic is when one partner is an entirely absurd person and the other partner's perpetual thought process is, "I adore you. Why are you like this? I'm going to kiss you at such length and with such fervor that you'll get disoriented and stop being like this for five minutes and I can rest, for fuck's sake."

A quick reminder for those observing Wash Your Water Bottle Wednesday: if your water bottle has a straw or a spout, give it some extra attention! Get in there and scrub the crap out! Use a little straw-cleaning brush if you've got one--you can generally find them at the grocery store--but even a craft pipe cleaner or just a little stick can help! The critters that might be living on the hard plastic walls of your water bottle are nothing compared to the nightmare monsters being incubated in the warm embrace of a silicone mouthpiece.

Oooh, I've been reading this book and it was already so good and then it got more good and my brain started fizzing so here is a recommendation that you should read His Secret Illuminations by Scarlett Gale (who is on here as @scarlettohairdye and who has print and digital copies for sale on her website) if you are into:
Fantasy romances
Fetch quests where the items being retrieved are really cool and interesting
Really huge warrior women with dyslexia
Dudes with religious trauma
Fantasy Birth Control
Meditations on the nature of freedom and choice
Incipient femdom (which is well on its way to being present femdom, but I haven't finished the book yet)
And my very favorite part, the thing that compelled me to make this post before even finishing the story: translation and interpretation drama
The POV character, Lucían, is a monk from a highly restrictive order who is unexpectedly dragged along on a mission to retrieve several valuable stolen manuscripts by Glory, the She-Wolf, a huge, intimidating(ly hot) warrior for whom he's been harboring a crush that he's not entirely sure how to cope with. It's a really fun, wonderfully-paced fantasy adventure novel with an incredibly compelling romance plot, which I don't say lightly because I read, like, a lot of romances. I don't want to drop any other details, really, because since I haven't finished reading the book yet I'm not solid on what's a spoiler and what isn't, but the magic bits are satisfyingly magical, the adventure is wonderfully suspenseful without being completely nerve-wracking, and the slowly-building romance between Lucían and Glory is both really sweet and increasingly sexy. Please read this book! Highly recommend!

Possibly a hot take but I don't think secondary Riders should be allowed their own motorcycles, I think they should have to ride around in the main Rider's sidecar.

My parents' other cat, Sabriel, in her luxurious pillow nest in the guest bedroom. She weighs basically nothing and she's the softest cat in existence. Just...look at this tiny old woman, my gods, I adore her.

> go online, see an acquaintance recommending a new piece of superhero media
> ask if it's gritty or ironic
> friend seems confused
> pull out a chart explaining what "gritty" and "ironic" mean in the context of superhero media
> friend says, "It's good superhero media, Commie."
> watch it
> it's ironic

Whenever there's a segment on Game Changer or Make Some Noise that's clearly been written with the specific purpose of making Brennan go into a full ranting meltdown, I always picture Sam Reich sitting at his computer and saying to himself, thoughtfully, "You know, I think I'm going to give myself a little treat," before beginning to make notes.

Just saw a post that made me think very hard, so I want to put this out to everyone:
Like, do you look at Momotaros and think, "that's a naked man," or is he decent? Is the Public Universal Gun Baby Ryuutaros gallivanting around in his birthday suit?

We need to bring back earrings on Sentai helmets, but for everyone. If a character has ear piercings out of suit then those should be reflected on their helmet. Zenkaiser should have an earring.

There is no "people have always been people" moment quite like reading a poem from some time circa 600 BCE wherein the speaker laments that she's incredibly horny and really wants to ride her boyfriend's dick but for the fact that her parents are in the next room.

So I was pondering Utena while washing my hair, as I sometimes do, when I realized what it is that I love about the show's character design. I don't know how much of it is deliberate, but it feels distinctly like everyone was designed to match up to how Utena sees them as an over-confident 14 year old:
Middle schoolers: adults
High schoolers: taller, better-looking adults
Elementary schoolers: somehow the smallest human beings you have ever seen
Akio and other actual grown-ups: inexplicably more adult adults

We made a Redbubble order recently and so I got a clear sticker of @tbgkaru's Yi City chibis to put on my new water bottle. Now I have little tragedy buddies to travel with me everywhere I go!

Today for lunch I tried making @inneskeeper's Scientifically Proven Grilled Cheese, and holy shit is it good. This is, I think, the first time I've actually made a recipe I found on Tumblr, and if they're all going to go this well then I gotta do it more.
(My particular build: pre-sliced Sara Lee "brioche," Cabot Seriously Sharp cheddar cheese, honey, red pepper flakes, oregano, parsley, minced garlic since I don't think we have any fresh cloves at the moment, and a slice of thick-cut bacon leftover from last night's dinner. All ingredients portioned out using the ancient and venerated measurement known as "some.")

I love when there's a bunch of rats in a show or movie and it's supposed to be like "aaah scary a horde of nasty vermin!" when they're visibly just the prettiest, chubbiest tame rats ever. It's like when a dog is barking and the characters are freaking out but you, the viewer, can immediately tell that it's saying, "hello, friends! I get treats if I'm loud today! Isn't that wonderful?"
