THOUGHTS WHILE WATCHING GILMORE GIRLS: APPLICATION ANXIETY (SEASON 3, EPISODE 3, PART 3)

Luke marches next door to confront Taylor about his malt shop scheme. I love Luke giving Taylor a good smack down. This episode is so chock full of verbal smack downs, I'm positively giddy.

He's not wrong you know. I fully believe there is a dark side to The Hollow. I wish to one day explore it in my unrated spinoff chock full of swearing and gritty realism and Naked Adult Jess titled...The Hollow.

How creepy is it that Taylor has surveillance cameras all over town? Also, I think I can be forgiven for wrongly assuming Taylor was going to show Luke a picture of Jess. He's chosen to use a couple of skateboarders as an example of moral decay in Stars Hollow when Jess and Shane were macking it against a tree in front of hundreds of people in broad daylight at a festival HE was overseeing. That's funny. I’m glad Taylor decided to leave Jess alone and turn a blind eye to the furious public groping. I'm thinking since Jess could use a couple of friends he should introduce himself to these skateboarders. I think he would fit in nicely. "You want to open up a soda shop next to the diner? Taylor, no, no, no. Every day from now until the end of my life, I am going to come in here saying "Taylor, no." Gans was a performer on the Las Vegas Strip and the surrounding area, where he was billed as "The Man of Many Voices."  This was in reference to Lorelai impersonating Rory's voice on the phone.

Lorelai makes a joke about how she thinks the brother and sister in the family are having sex with each other. Welp. At dinner with the Harvard Dorks, Rory and Lorelai exchange looks when the father implores his supposedly incestuous children not to "Fight over the breast." What is happening? Mom and Dad won't talk about Carol (the bunny). The dad is kinda Richard-Esque. The next several minutes is just an excrutiangly long game of Harvard Dork Family Playing Trivia at the dinner table and would you look at that, Lorelai feels like a fish out of the water for not understanding anything they're referencing. HA, HA! NOW YOU KNOW HOW IT FEELS!

Look at all the kooky crap on the walls. It looks like a TGI Friday's. And she's dressed as a 50's car hop. We already know this girl (Carol) is going to be so quirky. Rory thinks this chick is pretty keen and appreciates her taste in music. Spoiler alert: Rory does not make a new friend. Bunny Carol is Fun and Cute and Quirky and Not Like Other Girls and she intends to make it known that Rory is nothing more than a Harvard Sheep. Baaaa.

If only Rory could be a bunny/waitress like Carol and not stuck on The conveyor belt of Expectations, then she'd truly be happy. Well, who knows, since the journalism degree obviously didn't pan out, maybe at one point she did. There's a big hole in the Gilmore Girls timeline between 2007-2016. LOL @ Rory waiting tables or entertaining children for a living. Even April waited tables at Luke’s and she was like, 12 or something. I don’t remember. Anyway I made myself laugh just now. Rory: I've dreamt of Harvard since I was 4. Bunny Carol: LOL, a lot of little kids dream about that, right after meeting Harry Potter. This bunny is downright vicious.

Getting screen shots of that giant pencil to make jokes about how Rory is always holding oversized props that are vaguely penis-like is the only reason I ever venture into season 7.

I swear there was a fourth penis prop because I referenced that pencil not long ago and can’t find it now.

Sure, Lorelai is easy to please. Unless you date someone she doesn’t like, or you talk to your grandparents, or you invite your grandparents to a thing, or you take the advice of your grandparents, or you conspire with your grandparents to help your mother financially, or you consider a college that your grandparents suggest, or you consider other colleges besides the best ones, or your quarter on a string goes missing, or your friend gets you into a car accident, or you break up with Dean and suddenly there’s no one around to pleasure her sexually anymore… Otherwise Lorelai is super chill.

He was 96, just two weeks short of his birthday. Publicist Sylvia Weiner confirmed Bennett’s death to The Associated Press, saying he died in his hometown of New York. There was no specific cause, but Bennett had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in 2016. The last of the great saloon singers of the mid-20th century, Bennett often said his lifelong ambition was to create “a hit catalog rather than hit records.” He released more than 70 albums, bringing him 19 competitive Grammys — all but two after he reached his 60s — and enjoyed deep and lasting affection from fans and fellow artists. I DIDN’T FORGET OKAY I JUST NEEDED THE RIGHT MOLMENT

1. I would say typical Master/Servant, but also not that simple? I think Ghirahim would initially scoff at Ganondorf’s mortal form and need proof that Ganondorf is worthy of the title “Master”.

2. My initial gut reaction is to say that Ganondorf would find Luigi pathetic but also? I think Ganondorf would be at least mildly impressed that despite being scared out of his wits and having low esteem that Luigi is still rather competent? He’d be fascinated, maybe keeps him in a terrarium where he introduces progressively scarier and tricky monsters and watches in awe as Luigi overcomes them despite his running and screaming.

3. They would be such nerds over weapon mastery and vengeance I imagine.

4. You know the Elegy of Emptiness and how it creates those statues that make you feel uneasy. This is how Ganondorf feels with this cutout that leers at him from the corner and never leaves. Sometimes he swears he hallucinates a voice saying “Fill me up with cream. Turn me into cannoli”.

5. Ganondorf: “I’d rather date Mario”

6. Ganondorf is concerned that this hand job will kill him.

7. A man of many talents and entertaining character? Ganondorf is certainly intrigued. Maybe he will learn to let loose a little.

8. There is a fic where the author explores the depths of Ganondorf’s narcissism through an intense makeout sessiom he has with his reflection in a mirror. Anyways something similar, until he realises that its not his reflection in the mirror and then Hyrule experiences the 1 millionth birth of the Demon King.

9. Does not care for her. He doesn’t even care for his own phantom. Maybe Phantom Ganon and Phantom Zelda end up dating and having Phantom Children and Ganondorf is just very confused and suddenly fascinated with Phantom Biology.

10. Very toxic. Judge Judy will always find a way to toss Ganondorf in jail. Ganondorf is entertained and continues to try and find convoluted ways to get himself in trial with Judge Judy and see if she can actually get him and his sweet-talking ass sentenced.

Danny's family :)

His mom, Bianca, is Italian-American and works as a secretary at the abortion clinic in town. She's a fantastic cook and still retains a bit of a brooklyn accent, though it becomes thicker when she's upset or angry. She's oh so proud of her boys and always tries her best to make sure they're taken care of. She's also just slightly taller than her husband. She does have a hard time saying no to helping in community events, so you'll usually see her helping organize and run varrious things around town.

His dad, Gan, is Thai-American and works as a maintenance worker at the senior center. He can cook as well so he and his wife switch off who cooks on various days. He's a homebody when he's not working, so he'll usually take the time cleaning the house and getting the shopping done, though he's always up to hanging out with the other dads if invited. He is soft spoken, but makes it a point to be heard if he believes there's a better way to solve something going on.

His brother, Amree, isn't old enough to really have a personality yet, but with how he looks at things, he's already perturbed by the world and doesn't much care for the things he sees. He's usually with one of his parents at their jobs, but if needed, Danny does pick him up to take him home after school if his parents need him to. He tries his best to be the best older brother to Amree.

"Gabriel’s autism was a contributing factor in most of the harrowing incidents he went through. Clinicians suspect that the condition increases the risk for certain kinds of trauma, such as bullying and other forms of abuse. Yet few studies have investigated that possibility or the psychological aftermath of such trauma, including PTSD.

“We know that about 70 percent of kids with autism will have a comorbid psychiatric disorder,” says Connor Kerns, assistant professor of psychology at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. Depression, anxiety and obsessive-compulsive disorder are all known to be more common among autistic people than in the general population, but PTSD had largely been overlooked. Until a few years ago, only a few studies had delved into the problem, and most suggested that less than 3 percent of autistic people have PTSD, about the same rate as in typical children. If that were true, Kerns points out, PTSD would be one of the only psychiatric conditions that’s no more common in people with autism than in their typical peers.

One potential explanation, Kerns says, is that, like other psychiatric conditions, PTSD simply looks different in people with autism than it does in the general population. “It seems possible to me that it’s not that PTSD is less common but potentially that we’re not measuring it well, or that the way traumatic stress expresses itself in people on the spectrum is different,” Kerns says. “It seemed we were ignoring a huge part of the picture.”

Kerns and a few other researchers are trying to get a better understanding of the interplay between autism and PTSD, which they hope will inform and shape treatment for young people like Gabriel. The more they dig in, the more these researchers are finding that many autistic people might have some form of PTSD. “We’re all just trying to put together the pieces and recognize that it’s an important area that requires further study,” she says. “It’s been a call to arms for the field to start looking at this.”

These researchers have their work cut out for them. In the typical population, PTSD is fairly well defined. According to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, or DSM-5, psychiatry’s guide to diagnoses, PTSD usually develops after someone sees or experiences a terrifying or life-threatening event. After that initial episode, any reminder of it can trigger panic, extreme startle reflexes and flashbacks. Beyond that, however, there’s a wide variety in the way PTSD manifests: It can lead to hypervigilance and anger; it can cause recurring nightmares and other sleep issues; or it can lead to depression, persistent fear, aggression, irritability or difficulty concentrating and remembering things.

“If you do the math, according to the PTSD criteria in the DSM-5, you can have 636,000 different combinations of symptoms that describe PTSD,” says Danny Horesh, head of the Trauma and Stress Research Lab at Bar-Ilan University in Ramat Gan, Israel. Given all the traits in people with autism that may overlay these permutations, “you have a lot of reason to think that their version of PTSD might be very different,” he says."

Jeff is a father of two beautiful girls and husband to a patient and understanding woman. He acts, sings and dances with Pied Piper Players of San Mateo, California, is a budding pizzaiolo and enjoys photography. In his spare time, he is an executive compensation attorney with a large law firm in Palo Alto, California. This is his first podcast.

Jenna Rose (she/they) is an experienced queer/nonbinary voice actor who has performed in animation pilots, visual novels, video games, and podcasts. She has participated in professional VA training since 2020 and enjoys contributing to content that explores queer experiences, mental health issues, and the occasional eldritch horror. In their spare time Jenna is a yoga teacher, an amateur baker, a pet parent, and a dabbling cosplayer who once sang on stage as a queer female war general. Tooning in 3. Dev Ross part 3 of 7

DL: so back to winnie the pooh, how much is that rabbit in the window. process for that episode?

DR: That one is easy. For creating for Pooh I would always revisit things from my childhood. There was a song called "How much Is that doggie in the window?" I used that for inspiration.

DL: what was the song about?

DR: It was about a little boy who saw a puppy in a pet store and wanted to buy him so very badly

She starts singing

“How much is the doggy in the window (COMMA), the one with the waggly tail. How much is the doggy in the window, I hope that he is for sale.”

DL: hmm... guessing any kid in the 80s knows that song.

DR: I think it's way older!

DL: the last episode you wrote(but you only wrote the premise)the wishing bear? process on that episode?

DR: That came from my childhood habit of wishing on the first star that appeared in the evening sky

She starts to chant a poem

Starlight,starbright first star I see tonight, I wish I may, I wish I might, have the wish I wish tonight.

DL: well that's actually kinda common with  a lot of children.

DR: Exactly

DL: so you are voice actor? As you have 2 voice credits on chip N dale.

DR: No, not really, but sometimes when a voice on a show didn't work, Tad Stones would have me ADR it because I was also a pretty decent actor.

DL: oh how did it feel to be with all the other Voice actors like tress macNeille, corey burton and frank welker?

DR: It was a blast! Loved it!

DL: any stories at the recording booth?

DR: Tons. But I would t feel nice sharing them as some were very "not nice." A few of the established voice actors could be very rude to new voice actors I brought in. It became a pretty big problem as a few tried to sabotage the newcomers. I had to fire an established voice actor because he was so rude and difficult. But most of the time it was so much fun! I also "discovered" Danny Gan who went on to become famous in Los Vegas. Sadly, he passed away a few years ago.

DL: wow! that's tragic to say.

DR: Yes, he was a family man and all around great person.

DL: That’s upsetting. I never even knew the guy.

DR: He was very big in Vegas

DL: I’m not apart of the Vegas lifestyle except for sigfrey and Roy.

DR: gives me a 👍

DL: So moving on, writing for talespin for Disney and syndication?

DR: I did not do much for Tailspin. My boss on it saddled me with a new writer. I was supposed to write with him.

DL: And his name was?

DR: It did NOT work! I only remember his first name. He was my boss's friend, A terrible writer! So I asked to be moved to another show.

DL: Was it Jeremy cushner or chuck tately, the co writers of the episode last horizons?

DR: I'm not going to say.

DL: So was it either of the two writers I mention you had problems with?

DR: I'm not going to dish on anyone.

DL: Understood. So the episode, last horizons. What was the process of that episode and working with two other writers?

DR: I don't work well as a team writer. I do best by myself. I'm good brainstorming and exchanging ideas but after that I'm on my own. I'm asked all the time to be a co-writer but I refuse.

DL: So the episode was 3’s a crowd then?

DR: I guess so!

DL: The episode,a star is torn. Process on the episode?

DR: Don't remember that one

DL: The episode is where Baloo is a stunt pilot for a film.The ONLY non co-written episode you wrote for talespin.

DR: That one was based on my knowing a former big film star. She would tell me how men would get enamored with her.

DL: Wow! can you give out the name of the actress?

DR: Deborah Walley was one, Jane Fonda was the other

DL: Now the one show where you wrote a whole season, Darkwing Duck! Writing for Disney and ABC.

DR: Oh Kay. Yes, loved that show!!! So much fun! Best ever in terms of getting to write.

DL: So you wrote 13 episodes,practically a season!

DR: Yes, I think I clicked the most written on that one.

DL: As 13 episodes is aired on a season for Saturday mornings. By question so I realized jymm magon didn’t wrote for that show. But he work on everything from gummi bears up to quack pack. Why was that?

DR: You would have to ask him. I was not privy to those decisions.

DL: Oh okay the first episode, apes of wrath? Process for that episode?

DR: My love of Coco the Gorilla!

DL: Who is coco the gorilla?

DR: She was famous for learning how to communicate with American Sign Language.

DL: Oh ok, so was dr brute suppose to be based on Jane Goodall? Because she had monkeys?

DR: Probably? No, it was loosely based on her.

DL: Well I see.Well there was a running gag in the episode where gosayln is denied a alcoholic beverage that can make anybody who drinks it go sporadic. How did that got passed by the ABC?

DR: No idea.

DL: Did you came up with the idea? Of a child being denied alcohol or having even shown a spike punch beverage in a children’s program?

DR: Sorry, I do not remember.

DL: Oh ok. Well moving on, water way to go? Process of that episode. Say that 3 times fast!

DR: That came from my love of water! I just got talking about it with Tad and how putting opposites together like water and desert makes for good stories.

DL: So you came up with the Saudi Arabia parody country,oilrabia. Thoughts on that?

DR: Exactly. Just throwing around ideas with Tad.

DL: Oh would find it offensive in today’s culture? The name I mean.

DR: I'm sure!

DL: Well next episode, trading faces? Process for that episode?

DR: I got that idea from all the movies where.. um..kids trade places like what was it the prince and the pauper. And then there was you know twins that trade places and their families and there were just a little about that so that’s how I came up with that idea.

DL: Wait, the prince and the pauper? Disney made that into a short with Mickey Mouse! That’s crazy! Don’t ya think?

DR: yes but it was a story,

Excuse me, I did a lot of research reading a lot of fairytales and short stories for kids. You know,I read a lot of the classics and you can get a lot of ideas from them. Seriously, there’s nothing new under the sun and if you want to be creative, sometimes your derivative, but you have to l, when your derivative, you have put your own spin on things.

DL: Hmm ok. Well writer and Former president of DiC, Robby London said you have to have a catchy name before you write a script.

DR: Yes. Titles are extremely important. Because the catch the viewer's attention and give the promise of the show. Titles must emulate what is coming in the story.

DL: Sometimes, you’ll have to make them not sound too short or too juvenile.

DR: I am sure that could be true but one and two word titles are an almost must for film. Titling episodes is much different. My preschool show titles were often very simple.

Alright! Alright! Put the gun down. If you wanna know about my little South Park OC, it's under the cut that contain rewritten elements to Stick of Truth and a small ounce of Fractured but Whole

Danny is the new kid in South Park. He and his parents moved there from Tampa, Florida after an incident that Danny was the catalyst for that he can’t remember due to the medication his parents got him on. It makes his brain all foggy so it’s hard for him to recall what happened before they moved to South Park other than they hopped from hotel to hotel a lot. The majority of the time, the pills made him sleep, so it's hard to tell what is real and what's fake.

His mom, Bianca, is Italian-American and came from Brooklyn. During the events of SoT, she is pregnant with Danny’s baby brother. She works at the abortion clinic as a receptionist.

His dad, Gan, is Thai-American and came from Mesa, Arizona. He and Bianca met when Gan moved to Brooklyn to pursue maintenance work at some apartments there and the rest is history. He now works at the retirement home as a maintenance worker.

Danny does look more like his mom, but has his dad’s nose and skin tone. Because of his upbringing, he knows Thai, English, and some Italian words and phrases (at least enough for a basic conversation).

He's a 4th grader (so around 9ish years old) and was to start going to South Park elementary the Monday after they moved in. He's soft spoken at first due to being unable to recall his life before South Park, but he slowly starts to recall things over the course of playing with the other kids as the days went by and became more crazy.

A running gag in the SoT arch of his story is that he's always trying to correct Cartman and the other human kids, getting progressively more angry as time goes on. Butters, however, calls him by his chosen name for the game, 'Daniel the Rogue' (He chose the thief class because he can be quiet and mysterious), but only when Cartman isn't around. When he was taken to the Elves, he actually felt more welcome with them given they would call him by his chosen title and said it in a way that made him feel included in the game rather than just another rando. It's no wonder he chose to betray Koopa Keep and lead the goth kids to Kyle.

A major plot hook I got rid of was the fact that Danny doesn't fart, but the boy can belch. Everything involving farts and butts kind of weirds me out, so I wanted to keep it to a minimum with Danny and focus on another equally gross bodily function. To counter balance everything, Danny will ocassionally get acid reflux and puke if he burps too much.

He still, however, would still have to fart on a man's balls for the sake of plot.

I have yet to play The Fractured but Whole, but I can tell you he hates the name Cartman yet again gave him, which would be Belchsack, for his super hero name. When he's sent to infultrate the other franchise with Professor Chaos, I think he's paired with Mysterion at one point and they have a heart to heart due to Danny not looking like he's having much fun with playing super heros like he did with the fantasy characters. Danny would tell him it's because he yet again didn't get a say in his name and he was upset that people won't listen to him.

Mysterion let's him rant then asks what he'd want to be called instead and starts to call him that, which seems to lift Danny's spirits about playing super heros with the other kids. At this time, his parents had been sneaking his medication into his dinners, so his memory starts becoming hazy again and he hates how he can barely remember his adventures now.

I can't think of anything else to talk about with him at the moment, but I'll try to sketch out a family portrait and post it when I can. If you want me to give context to anything, let me know. <3
