tbh the Brad Bakshi bathroom scene haunts me and genuinely made me confront my own relationship with food when I first saw it because his performance was so recognizable to me, it was like someone was making me look at myself and it scared me. The way he contorts his face and mutters to himself and leans into the mirror and grabs at his stomach area and seems so deeply furious and ashamed of himself was both incredible and horrifically accurate, Danny Pudi seriously deserves more recognition for his acting, just in that one scene with very little dialogue we learn so much about Brad and see so much of him, so much of Brads most personal and telling moments are the ones where he isn’t saying anything- Danny’s delivery of the character is a fucking masterpiece and every second Brad is onscreen is a treat to watch.

Hi Isa! I was wondering how you got into watching Mythic Quest? Who's your favourite character so far? Fav episode? Have you seen Dark Quiet Death yet?
About your Ian/Poppy question: NOT a spoiler dw! The MQ showrunners Rob, Megan and David have stated in multiple interviews and podcasts since S1 that Ian and Poppy will never be romantic. They wanted to write an intimate platonic m/f mentor/mentee working relationship/friendship(?) b/w two people with different skills who need each other to achieve their goals. Rob's also said that he thinks the age difference and power dynamic would make it very inappropriate and not what they wanted to explore at all.
Since they've been saying this openly since the beginning, it's not spoiling anything to lyk rn not to expect that type of development in future seasons (ofc non-canon shipping is totally valid, not judging!)
Btw, there's definitely aspects of Rob in Ian and Megan in Poppy, but it's not straight-up self-inserting. Megan gets frustrated when people insinuate that in podcasts/interviews. Poppy's experience working under a difficult arrogant male boss (who still helps her career and whose opinions she respects even as he disrespects her) has influence from Meg's time working for Dan Harmon, but I'm sure lots of other writers in the MQ room have had those experiences too, esp women, and the characters are developed by all the MQ writers, so we shouldn't discredit them just because we only know Rob, Megan and David.
Sorry this is so long, idk if you'll even read this haha, but anyway the first two seasons of MQ are surprisingly good and I hope you like it!
hi thank you for the ask!
im about 2/3 of the way done with season 1 and I really like it so far! it's a lot different than what I was expecting but that's definitely a good thing
my favorite character is easily brad. he is just so goddamn funny and i think i have a thing for the asshole™ character. and danny pudi is just a fantastic actor
so far, my favorite episode is in fact, dark quiet death. it is so fucking good and I was not expecting it at all. i mean that episode itself should have been nominated for an emmy. im sure there is a reason they included it in the season and I am excited to see how it ties in.
as for ian and poppy, i took back my shipping statement after watching a few more episodes. they are very cute, but in a big brother/little sister kind of way.
i can see how poppy might be influenced by Megan but I agree, it's definitely not a self-insert. I saw a video on here a few days ago where david said that a lot of brad's lines were inspired by megan which I TOTALLY see. megan is so funny in a cutthroat way.
overall, i pretty excited to keep watching. hopefully I can finish it today or tomorrow.

Sheldon Cooper vs Abed Nadir
I like Sheldon believe it or not. I think his unlikability is what makes the character unique and unfortunately in putting in a google search of Sheldon vs Abed (from community), this is one of the biggest reasons people say that Abed is a better character than Sheldon and I think that’s ridiculous.
While I agree there’s a racism issue in Hollywood and the reason Parsons got an Emmy and Golden Globe for Sheldon Cooper while Danny Pudi got nothing for Abed definitely might have a lot to do with the color of their skins, I do think Parsons deserved his reward for Sheldon Cooper because Sheldon Cooper is a unique character and Parson did a great job acting as Cooper. Even after the writers kept butchering the character from Season 5 onwards, Parsons is still able to bring in a human quality in Sheldon and it’s partly why there’s articles written about Sheldon and his psychology because he’s a fascinating comic character.
Unfortunately his role in the Big Bang Theory is to be the pun of all jokes. His autistic trait is treated as a joke. It’s not accepted, it’s not valued, it’s demeaned and picked on and even gives people the excuse to say Sheldon deserves to be left out all because he’s “unlikable”
And this is why I despise this argument that Abed is a better character because he’s “likable”. I don’t think actual autistic people are supposed to be likable. I mean I’m not saying they aren’t capable of it but from a brief look at how parents struggle to care for their autistic children and the difficulties with behavior, to claim that an autistic character is only good if he’s “likable” is fucking dehumanizing to me. What? You’re gonna only give anybody a credit of your time and acceptance if he’s “nice”?
Sheldon, unlike Abed, doesn’t just have to deal with struggles of connection. This is Community touches on with Abed, a lack of connection with people because he feels like an outsider and can only observe, but with Sheldon, his issues are much more. Sheldon has misophonia, he also seems to be suffering from OCD or OCPD, in which everybody must fit into his routines precisely because he believes this is the way things are supposed to be, he’s compulsively neat and ordered and he needs things to be that way.
I saw a video of a little boy (who either has OCD or is autistic I don’t remember) who couldn’t even eat his food if all his food touches each other. He literally was crying to his mother. He couldn’t even drink his juice if all the silver top wasn’t ripped off. This is Sheldon and you’re saying Sheldon is a bad character because he’s not “likable”. That by wanting things to fit his sensitivities because he can’t handle touching his food, it makes him narcissistic?
I’ll admit there are some bad behavior Sheldon does that I wish the showrunners would have addressed. He does take advantage of Leonard, and then later Amy. And the creators excuse this. They excuse so much with Sheldon and yes I agree he doesn’t grow.
Meanwhile Abed seems to grow. Everytime Abed shows some bad “unlikable” trait, there’s an explanation behind it because the creators give him a voice, and most of all his friends respond to him with compassion, kindness, and support.
For example, I just finished Season 1 episode 21, “Contemporary American Poultry”, where the gang become power-high over Abed’s new job as the fry-cook and being able to get the chicken first. The chicken is apparently the only good thing the cafeteria makes. In the beginning of the episode, Abed says some blunt things that hurts Shirley’s feelings about her crush over the dreadlocks guys, along with some hurtful stuff to Britta about how her lack of flavor is a flavor itself when she suggest he thinks about the stuff he says and if it will be hurtful. Abed doesn’t realize what he says is hurtful but in some ways can recognize when someone isn’t happy with him. He’s the observer of the gang. When he gets the job as the fry-cook in the gang’s scheme to get the chicken first, it blows up into bribing the whole school for stuff just to get chicken. The gang gets power high through stuff Abed can get them through his new job which leaves Jeff’s ego hurt and him feeling left out since Abed pretty much replaces him as gang leader. Eventually Abed realizes he isn’t getting the respect he thought he was getting even though he was finally feeling liked in the group and gets back at them, thinking this is what Jeff would do. By the end of the episode, in a ploy to ruin the fry cooker, Jeff finds Abed late at night cooking tater tops which Abed says is the new thing because people are now tired of chicken. Instead of ruining the cooker, and thus ruining Abed, Jeff has a conversation with Abed and Abed reveals that he liked the job and giving chicken because he finally feels like people liked him for once and that he and the world was finally speaking the same language. The show gives Abed a voice and humanizes him from a robot that tends to hurt people with what he says to someone who just genuinely struggles to connect with people and need to use someone to gain a connection whether it’s chicken or movie references. And best of all, Community doesn’t have his friends mock him for his struggles or use it as a pun for jokes. It respects Abed. And his friends respect him too... even when he’s a jerk. They listen to him and try to understand him.
You don’t get that with Sheldon.
So there’s the difference in my opinion.
The difference between Abed and Sheldon isn’t that one character is better than the other, but the fact that the show each respective character is in treats them different. Abed is treated better, with kindness and support, while Sheldon isn’t treated well AT ALL.
For me, realizing that with Big Bang came around Season 3 episode 1 when Sheldon and crew comes back from the Artic. The crew’s ill-treatment and laissez-faire attitude for legitimately ruining a friend’s experiment along with actually considering to kill him makes me honestly wonder if they care about Sheldon at all. Nevermind how difficult Sheldon’s eccentricities are. Even if the writers wrote this, the fact no discussion was made over Sheldon’s feelings. The fact that Sheldon’s feelings was treated as “childish” according to Leonard, tells you everything you needed to know about how Big Bang Theory views Sheldon Cooper. He has NO voice. His voice doesn’t matter. He’s the wackadoodle, the “crazy” man. Anything he says, is just ridiculous and isn’t valid.
Is it any wonder Sheldon just grows worse as the seasons go on when surrounded by people who treats him as an insane person. And tbh Season 3 shouldn’t have been a wake-up call on that. Sheldon’s mental state has been the pun of jokes since Season 1 but since we don’t  legitimately see Sheldon upset, I didn’t think anything of it. It seemed like friends just making mild complaints over a difficult friend but who understands and still hangs out with him. But when Sheldon WAS upset, those same friends just didn’t care. AT ALL. And throughout they actively try to exclude him on their activities and complain about him all the same. When he goes through heartbreak, they go comfort his ex instead of him (at least that’s what I heard. I haven’t watch so I might be wrong but I gotta say I’m appalled but again unsurprised). I’d say out of the friend group his truest friends seem to be Leonard and Penny.
Leonard because even though he has hurt Sheldon the most, demean him the most, and also whines about him the most, he does side with Sheldon at times he needs him and does show concern for him. Penny because she is the one we’ve seen Sheldon share his inner self the most and who responds and deals with him with the most compassion. I guess Amy also counts to because Sheldon does become vulnerable in front of her, from the bits of scenes I’ve seen of them anyway. And Amy for a time had been the one that seems to understand Sheldon the most until the writers gave Amy this desire to have se and have Sheldon be the one to do it when he’s been written to be repelled of it... you know for laughs.
Amy and Leonard are hard to write in terms of saying their Sheldon’s friends because I feel like they also manipulate and treat Sheldon bad. They complain and whine when they don’t get what they want and I also think both of them like that Sheldon relies on them, and is co-dependent on them... and that isn’t healthy. But there’s no denying that these two are friends who care for Sheldon.
But anyway the others are only friends because their friends are friends of Sheldon... so why do they all treat Sheldon bad? Because when you watch Big Bang Theory, you realise as the episodes go on, that everyone in Big Bang Theory treats everybody bad. These are a toxic group of people and there is not growth. They’re stuck in this childish bubble and it’s NOT because their geeks who like nerd culture. You can be a grown-up and like Star Wars, Star Trek, Marvel and DC. But Big Bang says otherwise. No they say, you need to get married and have kids to be grown up and that’s such a stupid message to bring. This crew is childish because they’re honest to god just awful. They can’t have a conversation without putting someone down. They can’t get over their damn egos.
Community gives us a different aura of things... of course I haven’t finished the series yet and apparently the gang does become a bit toxic by the end of the series but it seems the showrunners and writers are aware of this while in Big Bang, there is either a blindness to this, or is written deliberatly because for some reason tv shows think toxic relationships are what sells funny.
It really doesn’t.
Anyway this turned into a rant. Let me just conclude.
Sheldon isn’t written badly. He’s just treated badly. Because his autism is the brunt of jokes and is meant to look down on. This is sad because out of the two characters being compared, I think he needs the support the most due to the myriad of issues he suffers from.
Abed isn’t written badly either of course but unlike Sheldon he’s treated with respect by the writers of Community. He’s given a voice and his friends treat him compassion.

community: abed just wants acceptance. ↳ I think he is dealing with so much in his head and trying to figure out ways to cope with what’s going on [...] Abed has always had a different approach to emotion than other people—his feelings were just more internalized than most. - Danny Pudi on Abed [x]

what are your favorite things abt abed nadir as a character?
oh man where to begin. gonna make a list of silly little bullet points in no particular order !
not praising dan harmon or any of the whites who made this show for including black & brown ppl in the cast like that’s the bare minimum ok but (despite the fact that danny pudi is indian, not arab) the fact that the protagonist of a network sitcom in 2009 is a muslim palestinian man never fails to get me all :D despite the context. like i just feel like palestinian characters are never represented in a way where their national identity isn’t some kind of inner personal conflict. and the fact that abed and annie just like coexist so peacefully and love each other like siblings rly warms my heart even though obviously the show fucking sucks at addressing both muslim arab cultural issues and also ashkenazi cultural issues like we know that annie had a bat mitzvah and calls her grandma bubbe and that’s about it?? and don’t get me started on abed’s whole “strict muslim family” thing. that said, conceptually, it makes me very happy to think about so i’m reclaiming it actually :)
i love that he’s an autistic chad who gets mad pussy and white girls won’t stop throwing themselves at him and it’s never treated like a joke at his expense, but rather a joke at the rest of the group’s expense for assuming that he isn’t the most fuckable person in their friendgroup. good shit
his relationship w troy is obviously so crucial to his arc bc its about finding identity and love in a world that otherwise isolates u. its about truth and connection and they’re so beautiful!!! that said his relationship w jeff is arguably more important because it’s about asserting abed’s quiet wisdom & humility as being so superior to jeff’s arrogant, lonely husk of a man who uses people as pawns even when he genuinely cares about them. the contrast between jeff as the white guy with the square jawline who gets more screentime and abed as the thematic protagonist of the show who is the true hero, whom the show could not exist without, is so crucial.
danny pudi is so good at conveying emotions thru just his eyes it’s actually inconceivable to me that he doesn’t have as many emmys as julia louis dreyfus like he literally is a pioneer of the television school of acting?? this is a bullet point solely for danny pudi’s eyes everyone say thank u danny!!!!
abed is basically the god of his world. like the study group is just a bunch of regular, flawed but interesting people, and also they are hanging out with God and sometimes they clown on him for liking bad media. how could u not be obsessed with that concept i mean
i like how. he is very polite and kind :)

There are two Abed moments in seasons 5 and 6 that I feel like are... quite underexplored in the actual text itself but which are sending me into a Hurt/Comfort emotional tailspin.
SCENE 1 (for those of you who didn’t watch past the first few episodes of Season 5, the context is that Abed, on his way to see a new Kickpuncher movie, unthinkingly sprays foam on a new-to-the-show professor’s cartoons, and the professor handcuffs him to a filing cabinet because he thinks Abed is spoiled and over-indulged.)
Oh, you have feelings?! Have you considered putting them into your work? Your cartoons are monuments to joylessness; nervously assembled jokes based on nothing from your life or anyone's life! You're furious at me for being creative because you want to be able to create. You have all this rage and shame and loneliness which I don't even know how to feel, much less understand and you decide to put what on paper? A duck? Jim the duck? You think I'm crazy? You think there's something wrong with me? Jim the duck!  - Abed in “Bondage and Beta Male Sexuality” aka JUST TWO EPISODES AFTER TROY LEFT
Correct me if I’m wrong, but... this is the only time we see Abed lose control to the point of shouting, right? His anger and put-downs are usually cold and direct as opposed to loud--in most of the scenes where other characters are yelling, it’s even lampshaded by having him yelling nonsense rather than actually participating. And it is CHOCK FULL of projection. Like, the irony of someone yelling “you have rage I don’t know how to feel” is pretty obvious, not to mention the reference to loneliness; there’s a scene before this with Abed walking through the halls making Kickpuncher noises and then very clearly thinking “this isn’t fun by myself” and walking normally. And even though, in this speech, Abed describes himself as a creative person in opposition to Hickey’s formulaic work... he comes back later with a screenplay that is full of tropes instead of emotion and authenticity.
And it’s dealt with in a pretty subtle way. As viewers, Troy’s absence plays a huge role in this scene but it’s relatively unspoken--the closest we get is when Abed shows Hickey the screenplay and says “Troy thought it was hilarious. I didn’t have the heart to tell him it wasn’t a comedy.” There’s no “hey, sorry for yelling, I’ve been missing my friend” conversation or anything like that, which would be par for the course for this kind of show (and Community itself).
SCENE 2 has some more back-and-forth and I’m not going to type up the whole thing, but basically Abed is tasked with helping new character Elroy fix the wifi, which is down, and realizes it’s because a bird’s nest is in the router. He says “the mother must have built it there because of the heat. same reason my mom took my half brother to Arizona.” Then he says “If you move it, the mother won’t come back” and then repeats himself with more urgency when Elroy indicates he wants to move it anyway. Eventually the nest is moved, Abed takes care of the chicks, two of them die, and he comments that  he’s worried the last one is “turning into a symbol of my own innocence.”
Again, this one does get some textual acknowledgement of what’s going on, but the reference to his own mom is pretty casual and it isn’t directly brought up again. I think it’s mostly powerful because the last real treatment of Abed’s relationship with his mom was “Abed’s Uncontrollable Christmas,” where it was such a Big Deal. and also because THIS IS HIS FACE WHEN HE REALIZES THERE ARE BABIES IN THE NEST:
Tumblr media
HOW did Danny Pudi not even get an Emmy nomination? Literally, how? Like, damn, Abed is such a good, understated character that moments like this just wallop you over the head.
Oh, I lied, one more painful Abed scene post-Troy--in the first episode after Troy left, when Abed has “an intense burst of compatibility with a girl we never see again” as Britta calls it, only to feel betrayed when it turns out Britta bribed the girl to tell him spoilers for a TV show. And his reaction is “But I really liked her. I’m devastated.”
Which is also pretty unprecedented for him as a character. Granted, we don’t see very much of Abed being rejected romantically, but still, “devastated” is an awfully strong word to use from a character not prone to histrionics. Not to go to that Trobed well too often but... is it perhaps possible that he feels that rejection much more strongly having just lost his primary source of emotional support?? Again, unacknowledged in the script. They have Abed reunite with Rachel instead, which... eh. Okay, I’ll admit I’m biased when it comes to Abed ships, but I wouldn’t complain about a romantic relationship for him if it was handled well. My thing is... they could only get Brie Larson for two episodes. And you really can’t develop a good romantic relationship in two episodes--as evidenced by the fact that her disappearance in Season 6 is lampshaded with one of Abed’s meta jokes that offers neither an explanation or any hint of his  emotional reaction. So I really do think the episode makes more sense, as a storyline, if you look at it as “Abed latching onto people in an attempt to fill the void Troy has left.”
IN CONCLUSION, seasons 5 and 6 are still not the best but GOD do I love me some Abed angst, and in that regard they do not disappoint.

So, which scene would you say the main cast individually (David (Scrooge), Danny (Huey), Ben (Dewey), Bobby (Louie), Kate (Webby), Beck (Launchpad), Toks (Beakley), Tony (Donald), and Paget (Della)) show off their best performances as their characters? Keep in mind I mean having these nine actors individually, not in the same scene necessarily.
Holy molars, where to start? XD
My first thought is to go straight to the scenes where they’re the most emotional or the most crazy, and that works for some of the characters, but not all.
For Scrooge, I definitely think some of David Tennant’s best work is in those emotional scenes. He did the entire Spear of Selene monologue from “The Last Crash of the Sunchaser!” in one take. He also did a lot of great work in “The Shadow War! Part 1.” I’m always moved by his reunion scene with Della, as well.
Tumblr media
Then there are some scenes where his comedic acting is just... I can’t stop smiling and giggling during these scenes and it’s all to do with his line delivery. Some examples that come to mind are when he’s going over Glomgold’s plan in “Moonvasion,” when he’s faking embracing the hippie lifestyle of the Mervanans, and then... this.
Tumblr media
Going in the order you provided, I’m gonna move on to Huey next.
My guess is, with this being Huey’s season, some of Danny Pudi’s best work is yet to come, but he’s had a lot of great moments already. His meltdowns are well done, and his singing voice is lovely.
I think a really great scene for Huey is in “Challenge of the Senior Junior Woodchucks!” when he and Violet are on top of the volcano, from when he first starts trying to cross on the rope to when he and Violet are sinking down into the crater. He has a lot of range in that scene (anxiety, mild-moderate insanity, regret, acceptance, more anxiety) and Danny nails all of it.
Tumblr media
For Dewey, I think Ben Schwartz really shines in scenes involving Della, whether Dewey’s thinking about her or interacting with her. His sweet little “Merry Christmas, Mom,” in “Last Christmas!” brings the feels every time, and he displayed amazing range all throughout “Raiders of the Doomsday Vault!” One scene that gives a good example of his range though is from “Nothing Can Stop Della Duck!” when he first meets his mom. He went from joyfully declaring he knew he was part robot, to making those soft little hugging-someone-tight noises in his mommy’s arms, to yelling:
Tumblr media
Ben really doesn’t hold back. Also, I flipping love every one of his line deliveries in the scene with tall Huey.
Louie’s another character where it’s hard to narrow it down to one scene. Bobby Moynihan is great at the scenes in which Louie is emotional, like when he was cradling his mom’s jacket in “The Secret(s) of Castle McDuck!” and when he met his mom in “Nothing Can Stop Della Duck!”
I also love Louie’s little businessman/commercial voice he does, and I was crazy impressed with how he was able to hit the notes in the lullaby in “Moonvasion! Part 2.” I’ve heard Bobby complain of having to redo lines to sound more like a kid more than Danny and Ben complain about it, so I can imagine it must’ve been annoying to be told, “Now sound like a kid, and sing in falsetto as that kid.” BUGH. And while Louie doesn’t exactly have Huey’s pipes, I have mad respect for him hitting those high notes.
Tumblr media
I think Louie’s best overall episode so far has definitely been “Timephoon!” though. I think that one showed his range the way “Raiders of the Doomsday Vault!” did for Dewey.
I think Webby’s best moments are when she’s disillusioned. She had a great moment after reading Lena’s journal in “The Shadow War! Part 2,” but I really love Kate Micucci’s work in “The Lost Harp of Mervanna!”
Tumblr media
Webby sinking into cynicism gave Kate a little more room to explore Webby’s emotional depth, and it made me really excited to see what’s coming in Webby’s arc this season.
Tumblr media
I also love all of Webby’s moments when she’s super excited and she makes those cute li’l *squeee* sounds, or when her heart’s “too full.”
Maybe it’s the nostalgia talking, but I think one of Beck Bennett’s best moments as Launchpad was when LP had his Darkwing Duck monologue. I’m a little bummed that other characters talked over some of it, but getting to hear LP speak so eloquently, and even quote some of the DWD theme song lyrics, was definitely a treat.
But like, also though, “Double-O-Duck in You Only Crash Twice!”
Tumblr media
Hearing Beck keep his Launchpad voice while sounding so much more intelligent (partially because of the words he used, and partially because of his new accent) was unexpected and delightful. It was great to hear him playing the same character but playing him so differently.
For Mrs. Beakley, I think this is another instance where the best is yet to come, even though we’ve already seen/heard a lot of great moments with her already. Toks Olagundoye is insanely talented (like did you guys see that live reading of “McMystery at McDuck McManor!” where she filled in for Margo Martindale as Ma Beagle???), and she’s able to convey Beakley’s toughness and gentleness with equal ease.
So far I think “The Lost Harp of Mervana!” is probably Toks’ best work, as well.
Tumblr media
I’m really excited to hear Toks’ vocal work as Beakley comes to terms with not being able to run from her past.
As for Tony Anselmo, the guy’s a Disney legend. He’s Donald Duck. He’s been Donald my whole life and longer. Donald doesn’t get a ton of lines in most episodes due to being hard to understand (and Donald, as a character, probably doesn’t like trying to talk much because it’s such a struggle to be understood anyway), but there’s one scene in particular that blows me away every time I see it, and that’s his scene with Dewey in the first half of “Last Christmas!”
Tumblr media
You’d think having to do Donald’s quacky voice would really limit Tony’s range when it comes to conveying emotion, but somehow, it doesn’t. That “Oh...” Donald gives as he leaves the room gets me every time. He still carries so much grief. He missed his sister so much. And knowing Dewey was grieving her that Christmas, too just added to that sense of loss for Donald. Like, how did Tony pack so much emotion into one syllable? Just... GAHHHH my heart!
And then there’s Della... she talks a heck of a lot more than Donald, ya know? XD Paget Brewster is up for an Emmy for her performance as Della, and she couldn’t deserve it more. It’s hard to narrow it down to a few scenes or an episode because Paget handles Della’s funny moments and vulnerable moments so well. If I’m gonna narrow it down to one episode... nope, forget that. I’m doing two episodes. “Timephoon!” and “What Ever Happened to Della Duck?!”
Tumblr media
“Timephoon!” reeeeally captures her range of funny to angsty (please everyone no fighting about this episode on this post, okay? Go make your own), and “What Ever Happened to Della Duck?!” is such a solid debut episode with a solid performance.

Ever wanted to watch geothermal escapism for the first time again? Now you can live vicariously through me.
My first-time reaction to geothermal escapism (but already knowing the main plot points of the episode):
Immediately noticed Abed wasn't with the group
Abed already sitting on the counter in preparation for the yet-to-announced game is such a smart detail. But Abed sitting on the counter because the lava isn't a game at all is a heartbreaking realization.
Different color filter = concept episode is *chef's kiss*
The locker boys i'm cackling
Troy and Abed's entrance? Gay rights 🏳️‍🌈
Shirley's Island as a concept is so good. The board with "the fallen" organized by religious affiliation. The story telling with magnitude on the percussion. The butter defense mechanism. I am in awe.
Oh...when Abed repeats "last day"....yeah..
Okay I could talk for a long time about the WORLD BUILDING that took place in this episode. The god Troy mentioned in passing means they've developed an entire mythology. "The Orb" is a mysterious object rumoured to be hidden on Shirley's Island. "Chair walkers." The developed travel and fighting techniques. I could go on. But the fact that they did this in less than 21 minutes is fucking genius. The ability of this show to tell fast-paced, yet fleshed-out, satisfying stories is part of what makes this show so special.
Ngl Britta's pretty hot in this ep. Ngl everyone's pretty hot in this ep.
Britta and Jeff's banter is superb as always. They're my "if I had to pick a het couple"
When Troy and Abed appeared in the bubble I said "this is excellent" out loud
"sorry that our butts are touching" more like the writers saying "haha no homo please believe us 🥺"
Do I even need to tell u how I felt watching the scene in the basement. You know what they said. You know I cried.
Danny Pudi's acting is so damn good here. I mean his face and his VOICE when Abed tells Troy about the lava - I have never heard nor seen so much emotion from Abed and it hurts. Where's the emmy award.
Troy seeing the lava for just a moment, because Troy's the only one who's ever been able to see what Abed sees.
I fyickn hate Hickey so much that comment about Abed and knowing what happens two episodes later fuck you go to hell
Britta realizing immediately just how serious this is for Abed when Troy tells her the lava is real and how she messed up trying to force Abed into different coping mechanisms and shoving Hickey off the bookshelf and finally trying to understand how Abed works and use his method of coping with the world...I appreciated that.
I can't tell if Troy's desperate "i'm not leaving anymore" is real or a lie to save Abed. I don't know which is worse.
I loved that Clone Abed refered to Original Abed's "wild emotionality." Because he's never been the robot or a computer that people who don't know him think he is. He is emotional. He's the emotional core of the group. And I like that we get that insight into Abed's emotions and how he perceives them.
I'm sorry but didn't that hurt when Troy fell..??
All of Troy's goodbye's were perfect. "You're the best and I love you" "I got to live with you" "you're becoming much cooler than me" "you're the badass" just tears. Just utter weeping.
But Troy and Abed's goodbye. You don't need me to analyze this for you. You already know.
Troy's confidence upon seeing Levar again :) :) I love Troy loving himself. And it's like, Troy is already his own man, he just needed this to prove it to himself. And now he's beginning to own and love who he is - who he has been all along.
Okay I said I wouldn't go into specifics of their goodbye but look at both of them staring at each other as Troy leaves and tell me that's not true love
Troy in the end tag 💛💛💛
This was a brilliant episode, and such a lovely way to celebrate Troy and Abed's relationship and send Troy off on his journey to find himself. Having seen this episode definitely makes all those reunion fics and headcannons much more special.

Days alert : So glad to see Clyde again even if it is only for a moment!! **BTW, I do not understand the Daytime Emmy noms this year as they relate to Days. I really was pulling for Victoria Koneful (Ciara) and she won but George DelHoya (Orpheus), Tamara Braun (Ava) and Cady McClain (Jennifer)??? I was shocked when Cady McClain won. I mean, she was so whiny. I question my own ability to judge a performance. In most categories, the winner was usually the one I thought was the worst option. I was happy for Max Gail and CBS Sunday Morning.  Some performances were sure overlooked. What about James Read (Clyde), Paul Telfer (Xander), Bryan Dattilo (Lucas), Robert Scott Wilson (Ben), Daniel Kerr (Eli) and Lindsay Arnold (Allie) ?? As annoying as the Kristen character is and as long as it took me to get used to Stacy Haiduk in the role, she kicked ass this year. Did they even submit clips?? And,  they are not often on but Tony and Anna forever!!!!!!** And how wonderful is it to see the Dimera boys all together and recounting the whole fam for the votes? **And one more thing, Days was not even nominated for writing while Bold and the Beautiful spends every other show with the Liam character standing in front of the fireplace making excuses for the same shit! Just push repeat, C,mon!!**Philip had a great line for Brady about following Kristen like a zombie.** Dis Eli really say, “Peacock and chill??’ Are these the things they will have to do to do to stay on the air? It took me right out of the show. It was the same day the ads for Days on Peacock started. OMG

What’s ur thots on each member of the green dale 7? Plus ur favourite side characters :)
jeff: my feelings on jeff tend to depend on how much dan harmon is projecting onto him, but unfortunately, he’s probably the member of the study group that i relate to the most. idk how controversial this is but i don’t think he’s a bad guy, but i also think that he’s like, the most insane member of the group and the show is a lot more fun when they lean into that. plus the winger speeches are always good and i have a soft spot for assholes who start to become kinder and better because of the found family they find themselves in.
britta: i think one of the biggest flaws in community as the show goes on is the constant dumbing down of britta. she does stupid stuff and her activism is incredibly bare minimum, but she’s not a complete idiot and there’s a very clear difference in her intelligence between season one and even like, season three. also the way that the others treated her in relation to this was generally kind of shitty, because it was rarely criticism of her basic politics, and mainly just making fun of her because they could. wild that pierce was the only one that called them to task for using her name to mean fuck something up, especially since the phrase “britta’d it” clearly hurt her.
abed: is there much to say besides I Love Him? i think abed is one of the few portrayals of autism i’ve seen that i personally was not offended by, and it was nice to see his friends genuinely care about him and still like being around him even when he did show symptoms, because sometimes...it does not happen lmao. i do think there were times when they enabled him a little too much, but for the most part, abed is very near and dear to me and danny pudi deserves an emmy.
troy: i feel like troy is a character that could have been badly handled if left in the hands of another actor, but i think donald glover killed it from start to finish. his transition from popular asshole jock to loveable sweet nerd was incredibly well done given that this is a twenty minute sitcom and they managed to do it within half a season without it ever feeling rushed. very kind of him to prefer women in pjs to women in lingerie.
annie: i definitely take issues with the way the show sometimes handled her drug addiction and the general sexualisation of her, despite constantly pointing out that they SHOULDN’T do that, but annie herself...i love her so much. she’s been through so much at such a young age and continues to be strong and open and sweet, and i think the group would have fallen apart without her. she’s also probably the most dangerous of them all, so she’s got that going for her. also she’s definitely a lesbian.
shirley: i honestly think shirley is the funniest character in the show like so many of her lines and the way yvette delivers them...comedy gold. it’s a shame that dan harmon never learned to respect her because shirley had so much potential and deserved so much better than what she got. sure she’s a little homophobic but like, it’s in a fun way. she’s also the scariest member of the study group and the way the other members and the writers constantly shoved her into the role of Team Mom was annoying, because the episodes where they let shirley have fun and be chaotic are some of the best.
pierce: just an asshole. what else is there to say?
i genuinely love chang even though he’s like, fully insane, but ken jeong just plays him so well and he’s got some of the best lines in the entire show. i know the dean is just a homophobic stereotype but i love the campy freak and am obsessed with her entire wardrobe. vicky was underused and leonard & magnitude are tied for the best characters in the entire show. i’m only halfway through s5 so idk if he gets bad but i’m LOVING professor hickey and duncan is always good fun.

before  2020  ends  . . .   does  anyone  wanna  plot  with  me.   i  haven’t  made  one  of  these  posts  in  a  good  long  while.  under  the  cut  are  my  wanted  plots    /    wanted  opposites  so  hit  the  💟  if  you  wanna  do  any  of  these  +  i’ll  dm  you  !!
Tumblr media
wanted  plots:
this
this ( tw: blood, gore, murder )
this  -  i’m open to playing either muse but i’m leaning towards the prince.
plots at hogwarts !!  i  do  not  support  j.k. rowling or  her  transphobic  and  hateful views.
anything f/f. that’s it. that’s the plot.
hateships. enemies  who  hate  each  other  so  much  that  they hurl insults at  each  other  and  would rather vomit  than  see  each  other but then  they  just  start  hatefucking  and  ugh. need.
rock/indie band. we can make it a 2x2 or smth. messy relationships within the band, two wanting to go big and the other two wanting to stay small, one member might have to move away, things that threaten the band breaking up and ugh i’m in it for the angst.
idk why i think this shit is cute but like two muses working at the mall and their paths keep crossing. the peppy muse who works at lush right always bumps into the edgy muse who works at the hot topic. or the muse who always gets starbucks for their co-workers secretly hopes the cute barista is working a shift. or a cute holiday plot could be an employee at the store right across from the santa develops a crush on one of the elf/photography assistants.
modern greek mythology. i’ve been dying to use hermes with similar muses.
remember when harry styles’ car broke down and he stayed at a fan’s place and it was literally something out of a wattpad fic ? something like that, with this huge name celebrity and a clueless parent answers the door and lets them in. and either they miss each other like the actual story but stay in touch via letters and shit, the celebrity flies them out to see a show or something. or even better the kid comes home to see their dad and this celebrity having coffee at the dining table.
an  ot3. healthy polyamory. yep.
anything jane austen bonus if it’s sense & sensibility or pride & prejudice
pls  don’t  judge  me  for  reverting back to my twilight phase but i was reading the script at 2 am and i have the urge to play bella swan ( auli’i cravahlo fc ),  jasper ( toby regbo fc  ), or james ( manny montana fc )
check out my muses here. here are specific plots i’d like for specific muses.
this for dolly i’m begging.
this for richie. speaking of richie if anyone wants to play the hot lady alpha i just want you to know he got a thing for dominant women. like he finally tracks down who bit him and he’s like oh shit, i have to shoot her.
this for orabel /  timothy  ( muse a ) or kai /  rae  /  bubbles  ( muse b )
wanted  opposites:  *    krp faces welcome !!

WHY is no one talking about how in the series finale abed says “there is no skill to [tv]. more importantly, it has to be joyful, effortless, fun. tv defeats its own purpose when it’s pushing an agenda or trying to defeat other tv, or being proud or ashamed of itself for existing. it’s tv. it’s comfort. it’s a friend you’ve known so well and for so long... you just let it be with you. and it needs to be ok for it to have a bad day, or phone in a day. and it needs to be ok for it to get on a boat with levar burton and (voice breaks) never come back. because eventually, it all will.”????? because i can’t stop thinking about that. i really can’t. someone give danny pudi an emmy for breaking my heart

hello today was amazing solely because I had an in depth discussion with my band director (who I will henceforth refer to as Salsa because I call him by his last name and it’s the name of a brand of salsa) about how amazing Community is. like literally. the two of us were just geeking out together during a water break. my dad and I had decided that Salsa is definitely a Jeff, but he said that he really wanted to be an Abed. and then went on to gush about how amazing and nuanced Danny Pudi’s performance is and how he deserved so many Emmy’s for the way he subtly and realistically portrayed Asperger’s and I was just like!! yes!! and then I told him that on the first day of band camp, I wasn’t sure if they were doing the Trobed handshake because of Community and he goes “nah I found this video on the internet showing you how to do a cool handshake with your best friend” and the assistant director chimed in with “the first one we tried was too complicated!” just like in Cooperative Polygraphy and y’all. I was losing my damn mind.
okay I lied when I said that was the only reason today was amazing because I got to spend so much time with my two friends that I work with!! and then ate popsicles with the whole staff and shit talked my old high school band and recounted a bunch of stories from there to the assistant band director and his gf since they’re the only two staff members that weren’t there at any point. it was just an incredible day and I was so overflowing with joy at so many points where I just couldn’t stop smiling beneath my mask and just!! aaaaa marching band is so amazing I couldn’t imagine living without it?? like not everyone goes through the long, arduous process of falling in love with the marching arts and experiences intense personal growth through their connections with other band members and stays with the activity long enough to become a teacher and find a family within their school’s staff?? full offense but idk how I’ll ever be friends with anyone who didn’t do band to the same intensity that I did. (that’s kind of a joke but like. kind of not. band is such a unique experience and it shapes your worldview and it makes you such a different person and just!! okay I’ll stop talking now)
this is absolute word vomit but tl;dr I’m still loving teaching and the people that I get to hang out with and I’m very sad that I can’t go out tomorrow since it’s my first day of class :/
