"Quaithe?"

The woman stood still as a statue, resting underneath a lemon tree glazed with ice and branches piled with snow, the yellow fruit frozen in place on their branches. The wind picked up sprays of snowfrost around her, but her hooded robe was still immaculate, untouched. She lifted her head slightly. Her wooden mask assumed the look of frosted starlight this time, her eyes in the moonlit dark shiny and unreadable.

"You must follow the snow, beyond the winter's edge." Her voice was quiet, yet as loud as a shout, wafting and echoing over whips of wind. When Dany reached her, Quaithe reached out and touched her arm, guiding her forward.

"Where are you taking me?" Dany asked her. The tingle that she remembered where she touched her before was there once more, warm and cold where Quaithe's fingers rested on her skin. "Where does this dream lead?"

"To your destiny, Daenerys Targaryen," she replied after a time. "Daughter of fire. Bride of ice."

"Bride of ice?" She squinted against the weather. I was called bride of fire at the House of the Undying, she remembered, thinking of the blue flower encased in ice. Why the change? Or are both true? "What is it you seek of me?"

The masked woman replied with silence, allowing the wind to speak for her.

The storm picked up then, obscuring her view just a few feet in front of her, and in the blink of an eye, the hand on her arm was gone, as was its owner.

Dany called for Quaithe, but she could no longer find nor sense her. She pressed on, her feet crunching in knee-deep snow, yet she could not feel the cold.

Snow began to fall, faster than ashflakes rising like embers from burning parchment. Snow and gusts of wind lashed bitterly at her, dishevelling her silver-kissed hair, flakes melting upon her cheeks and a few even in her eyes. She blinked but felt nothing.

Still she could not feel the cold.

Her feet brought her forward until the snow and the wind abruptly ceased, seemingly originating from a single point in the middle of the frozen lake.

In the centre she found a girl. Two pairs of eyes opened as if from slumber, then in the darkness beyond she felt the eyes of hundreds, opening as the girl's had, studying her with an eerie stillness. A school of fish swam underneath the ice, shimmery silver-scaled bodies lined in formation to the girl, pooling underneath her feet, a single rose tucked behind her ear, some petals blacker than midnight, others whiter than sunlight.

An ethereal halo like the spirit of a wolf concealed her face half in shadow. Short brown hair curled upon her brow, at the nape of her neck, her brow relaxed, her left hand filled with a sword as skinny as she was.

She is my destiny? Dany wondered, taking another measured step on the frozen lake.

Yes. Your destiny, bride of ice, the voice echoed everywhere and nowhere, the source unable to be found. Her blood calls to your own.

But before she could reach her, the child-woman threw back her head and howled, and suddenly she heard the answering roar of her children above her, the music so deep and proud and beautiful that it settled deep in Dany's bones and made her shiver.

Born into the House of Stark, she was the third child and only daughter of Lord Rickard Stark, head of House Stark and daughter to Lyarra Stark. Lyanna had three brothers, Brandon, Eddard, and Benjen. Her father arranged a betrothal between her and Robert Baratheon, Lord of Storm's End and Lord Paramount of the Stormlands.

Their father Rickard and brother Brandon, lost their heads to the Mad King Aerys. This changed the dynamic of House Stark quite considerably, with Eddard now the heir.

In a way, Lyanna represents what House Stark is.

𝑷𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍𝒊𝒕𝒚

As an ISFP, they are known to desire freedom and the freedom to pursue their own course in life, set their own schedule, and live according to their personal values. These types crave freedom for themselves and want others to enjoy freedom as well. They are typically sensitive, kind, and gentle and crave a life that is meaningful and personally rewarding. They balance this with a realistic, practical, and factual outlook on life.

Her personal character can be attributed to what her father and brother, Eddard. Her brother once said, "she has a touch of wildness to her." Which was described as "the wolf blood" by her father, Rickard Stark.

What really stood out about Lyanna's personality is her uncommon kindness to those of a lower birth. This is shown prominently by her friendly treatment of Wylis, a mere stableboy in contrast to her being a great lady from a powerful family.

Lyanna is noted to have been a skilled rider who loved to ride. According to Harwin of Winterfell, Lyanna rode "like a northman", while Barbrey Dustin describes her as a centaur, and Roose Bolton states that Lyanna was "half a horse herself".

Another big part of her character is that Lyanna had been fond of flowers. She loved the scent of Winter Roses.

𝑯𝒆𝒓 𝑬𝒏𝒅

Another woman forced unto death for birthing a child. The cruel nature of women's bodies. They give life but they can take it as well. No in her family knew where she was, until Ned came and listened to he promise. He kept it.

𝑳𝒊𝒗𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑶𝒏

Even though it has been revealed that Jon is Lyanna and Rhaegar's son, I see her spirit living through Arya. They even look the same - but it's mostly their personalities. Arya seems to be Lyanna reincarnated.

𝑴𝒚 𝑻𝒉𝒐𝒖𝒈𝒉𝒕𝒔/𝑯𝒆𝒂𝒅𝒄𝒂𝒏𝒐𝒏𝒔:

Lyanna's character was changed from a multidimensional woman to a 2D cartoon by the men around her. Especially Robert Baratheon, with his unrequited love. From a wolf-woman, to a damsel in distress; Lyanna was done dirty.

If she had lived, she would definitely have evaded Robert, even though he would invite her to King's Landing nonstop. To the point where she would go into hiding? And then once he died, she come out of hiding.

(I think Rhaegar would have died no matter what.)

She would definitely have a lot of enemies; especially those from House Martell. However, she isn't one to avoid confrontation.

Therefore, she would have apologised and shown her true self, so there was no more animosity.

Without a doubt, she would love Arya with all her heart. Seeing her as her own daughter. Doting upon her, teaching her whatever she could. Sansa of course would be very bitter.

Yet, Lyanna isn't the type of person to leave anyone out, or make them feel alientated. So of course she would invite Sansa along, or suffer the more 'lady duties' like sewing.

I Am Not a Martyr, I’m a Problem

I hardly post about this fic, but I’m getting back to it, and I needed to read the last couple chapters to get back in Dany’s mindset, so here are a few quotes that I liked from it 🤭 this is an accountability post, it’s needed, or I’ll find something else to write and put this chapter off for another month 😅 I want to write fluff and smut, not war, winter, and death. It’s cold enough here. Past me already wrote 3.4k words of it, so I only have to find like 5k more. I left poor Dany literally hanging, though. Since I'm on a hotd/dance of the dragons trip right now, I really wished they slowed down and didn't do that much time skips and built the dance up more. There are so many moments that leads up to it that wasn't in the show.

The four-footed gods howled, and the two-winged gods roared in response.

It seemed as if the world itself was aflame, orange-red vengeance kissing the earth and the trees and all in between, melting snow and ice to mere steaming pools of water. Bones liquefied and the ash of shredded clothes lay on the ground, accompanying a foul stench of raw cold, but she couldn't focus on any of the destruction; it was as if someone had brushed their lips against her ear, drawing a breath before speaking in a high, sweet voice. Come closer, it encouraged. She was unsure who the voice belonged to, for no one corporeal stood next to her; perhaps a wayward spirit chose to be her guide this dream instead of the night wolf.

But Arya Stark found it hard to disobey.

Closer now, it insisted, closer.

She passed the threshold of flames, untouched and unharmed. Above her, the dragon gods growled their approval, and the great moon watched them all in its steadfast, silent vigil. The winged gods lowered themselves to the earth, deigning to rest beside their tether. The very beat of their wings reduced great flames to tendrils of smoke.

Destiny awaits you.

Arya's eyes followed her old friends down until she found the being they were drawn to, until grey locked with violet.

Hello!! What are your top 3 favorite and 3 least favorite ASOIAF ships?

I'm a basic person, I love mostly canonical and unproblematic ships.

Love:

Arya x Gendry (obv). I mean come on, If Martin didn't want me to ship them he could have done without writing all the tropes of the romance genre on them. I can't tell you it will end well, but I can tell you it will happen.

Jaime x Brienne. My first asoiaf ship. I think it's very difficult to write this kind of interaction while we can read both characters' thoughts, but it's so well crafted.

Renly x Loras. When the sun has set, no candle can replace it…

The only ships I love, but I'm sure will never happen are Aegon/young Griff x Shireen and Jon x Satin (!).

Hate:

Jon x Sansa. It wouldn't be number one if it wasn't so popular in the fandom. Plenty of characters share themes or parallels, but that doesn't mean they're going to fuck.

Jaqen x Arya. I like most Arya ships, but this one makes me want to puke. It's wrong on so many levels.

Drogo x Dany. I don't think all ships have to be romantic necessarily, but this is… (sorry George) a girl who convinces herself she's in love with her rapist because the reality is too hard to process.
