Found this among some old notes on my phone. It was supposed to become a "dark academia"-ish novel.
"There are people who love abandoned objects, forsaken places. They find pleasure in the drab remnants of the past, in the melancholy of imagining the ordinary life that once flowed in and around ruins and wreckage.
Though I do not belong to the lines of those admirers of physical decay, I too am fascinated by the idea of abandonment.
Abandoned youtube channels, deserted profiles, unfinished fanfiction, blogs that haven't been visited for years, goodreads and pinterest accounts that have been created to add just one book or save only one pin.
Most people follow accounts that post regularly (every day, every week, every month), I prefer ones that are not going to post ever again. Accounts whose owners have forgotten about ever creating them, who did not even bother to delete those pieces of their pasts.
After chasing for months the phantom traces of an online author whose stories were the centre of my existence when I was merely a teen, stalking such accounts became my hobby.
No, not just a hobby, it became my obsession. It ultimately made me do things that I came to regret, things that were the bearers of my doom.
The internet is full of ghosts and in a moment I will become one too."

Here's my list of vintage british tv shows/films, in case you're in need of cheering up
1. Famous Five (1995)
youtube
One of my favourite adaptations, which stays very true to the book series by Enid Blighton. I used to watch this all the time as a kid and the soundtrack is amazing.
2. Jeeves and Wooster
youtube
As you can tell by my url, I absolutely love this show and it also has a phenomenal soundtrack by Anne Dudley. It's about Bertie Wooster and his valet, Jeeves, who find themselves in all sorts of silly dilemmas. It kinda has the aura of a murder mystery, but nothing bad ever really happens.
3. The vicar of Dibley
youtube
This comedy starring Dawn French is about a female vicar who comes to a small village and starts her new life there. If you like Derry Girls or Father Ted, you'll probably like this.
4. Swallows and Amazons (1974)
youtube
This film isn't available on YouTube, unfortunately, but I do believe to have seen it on fmovies or Putlocker, so perhaps it worth a little dig around the internet.
This film is based on a book by Arthur Ransome, set in the lovely Lake District, in northern England. It's about a group of children (you may be noticing a theme here) who explore an island on a fictionalised version of lake Windermere (which, I can confirm, is as charming and magical as it looks).
