My grand thesis on sadism
I'm not an expert on anything whatsoever, and studies on sadism are sparse to say the least, so I'm basing this on squinting at concepts I've seen elsewhere and a layman's gut feeling. Here's my thesis:
Introduction
Sadism is when someone feels emotional pleasure as a result of someone else suffering. That's about it, afaik. And yes, this does mean that that one time you said something mean to someone else in the heat of the moment to hurt their feelings, you were behaving sadistically. Sorry lol, sadism isnt a mythical creature, everyone is capable of it
Obviously, some people are more inclined to experience sadistic pleasure than others, which is where we draw that largely arbitrary distinction between sadist and non-sadist. My thesis is that this distinction is a tad more complicated than a binary spectrum: there are (at least) two different types of sadism, both of which play a role in what type of sadist a person is. Those two types are a) emotional sadism, and b) cognitive sadism. I made these terms up just now for the record
Emotional sadism
This is a type of sadism experienced by people who have alexithymic tendencies. Alexithymia affects about 20% of people. It's that thing where you're not very good at distinguishing or expressing different emotional states; distinguishing emotions from non-emotional bodily sensations such as hunger or fatigue, and; distinguishing between your own emotions from those you feel through empathy. (Loads of alexithymic people think they don't experience empathy; they do, they just don't attribute their feelings to other people.) Alexithymics will often have difficulty describing their emotions beyond negative, positive, or neutral. But some alexithymics, in certain regards to certain emotions, will have difficulty even doing that.
By attributing sadism to alexithymic tendencies, what I mean is this: You see someone suffering, and you feel a rush of adrenaline. But because you kinda suck at distinguishing this rush as the negative emotions felt by the other, transferred to you through identification and/or empathy - your brain interprets the rush as a positive experienced by you, which is influenced by, but still independent from the suffering experienced by the other. I hope I'm explaining this okay lol but this is the most plausible explanation I could come up with as to why sadistic ppls brains will interpret other people's suffering as a source of pleasure, because there is a significant correlation between alexithymia and the dark tetrad.
Cognitive sadism
Cognitive sadism can be summerized very sussinctly by this quote from C. Fred Alford:
Sadism is the joy of avoiding victimhood, though that puts it too passively. Sadism is the joy of having taken control of the experience of victimhood by inflicting it on another.
Cognitive sadism is an expression of control over the role of victimhood by imposing it on another person. I view this as the sub/conscious justification that drives sadistic actions, seperate to the emotional state experienced by the sadist after the act has taken place. These are, in my opinion, two seperate processes.
K, but so what?
Viewing these two things as seperate processes might help us distinguish between different types of sadists, by simply adding or subtracting. Here are some terms for what I mean that I also literally just came up with lol:
The Opportunistic Sadist: Experiences emotional sadism, but has no inclinations toward cognitive sadism. This means that they will experience sadistic gratification at witnessing the suffering of another, but they have no desire to be the one inflicting said suffering themself. (A good portion of yall are like this from what I've seen)
The Remorseful Sadist: Seeks control by imposing victimhood on others, but can distinguish their empathetic response as other-oriented and distinctly negative, leading to intense feelings of guilt/shame/remorse/whatever after the fact. (Industry secret: a large portion of people who broadcast themselves as hardline sadists secretly fall into this category. They'll never admit it lol)
The Pure Sadist: Experiences both the alexithymic empathy response and control-seeking inclinations. What most people think of when they conceptualize sadists; people like this are pretty rare in my experience? But I also have no data on it so like.
Anyway here's a graph I made:
Tumblr media
The graph means I'm basically an academic about it lol idk
Conclusion
Fuck if I know, I'm just thinking thoughts about it for now tbh

Formed ten years ago, DEATHSTENCH released three albums and many eps.. The "Massed in Black Shadow" album was a great obscure and dangerous one..The crown of their sacrifice was their collaboration with Bon Masters Phurpa. John Paul Whetzel and Darea Plantin spells behind this interview.
“Blood Moon Divination” was your latest release. It was released in a limited amount of copies and only in Tape format. Why this choice?
We have always preferred analog releases. We view physical copies as something that should be appreciated.. Let's face it, it's the 21st century, and people do most of their listening through some sort of streaming service. If they like it, they most likely pirate it. We understand this; Our physical releases are intentionally designed for coveting.
We put a great deal of energy into each release. In our past special editions, we have included ritual accouterments that correspond with each album, such as shards of human bone and incense we made specifically for the intent to conjure with the dead.
You have released three albums. Please tell us the concept behind each one and the process of the recordings…Each release turns out to more noisy and dark forms..
To be precise it's four albums, and numerous collaborations and splits. Our releases are not in any sort of chronological order, from conception to the final product takes its own time dependant upon the haste of that particular record label. We record basically the same for each album, building upon a structured theme. Our music is built on layers of sounds from instruments, traditional and otherwise, that we record with either handheld devices or microphones connected to an audio interface which we use to record our percussion and amps.
Each track on "Blood Moon Divination" is an audial ritual recorded and released during each specific Blood Moon in the tetrad cycle of blood moon eclipses of 2014-2015. Through that span of time, these celestial vibrations were available as they were being released on several streaming platforms, including Black Metal and Brews and Repartiseraren. A tetrad of lunar eclipses is extremely uncommon. This was only the eighth of such cycles in over two thousand years. We compiled them together for a physical album that we chose to release during the first exclusive total solar eclipse the United States had seen in over two hundred years. Eclipses, both solar and lunar, are considered to be very inauspicious events throughout the world. As an omen of war, the Talmud regards "If the face of the moon is as red as blood it is a sign that the sword is coming to the world."
"N.O.X." is a transcendent four track journey that starts out violently with the lo-fi black metal track OXEX DAZIS SIATRIS, Enochian for "Vomiting The Head of Scorpions" and slowly transforms itself into a less chaotic discord that concludes with the meditative piece "Mysterivm Tremendvm". N.O.X. or "The Night of Pan", is a mystical state that represents the stage of ego-death in the process of spiritual attainment. The Greek word Pan also translates as All, as he is a symbol of the Universal, a personification of Nature; both Pangenetor, "all-begetter," and Panphage, "all-devourer". Pan is both the giver and the taker of life, and his Night is that time of symbolic death where the adept experiences unification with the All through the ecstatic destruction of the ego-self. In a more general sense, it is the state where one transcends all limitations and experiences oneness with the universe.
"Nekro Blood Ritual", our second album, was designed specifically for its cassette release and is broken into two sections: Conjuration Rites and Burial Evocation. This album focuses on conjuring the dead and the desecration of human remains. This is by far our most atmospheric album; most of the tracks are rely heavily on field recordings and stygian synthesizers to evoke the abject darkness. These songs are reminiscent to the "Incantations in Dead Tongues" era of our work. There are only two conventional (for use of a better term) songs on this album, "Nekrobloodritual" and "Desecrating The Host" the latter being a harsh black funeral doom dirge for the departed.
In our debut album, "Massed in Black Shadow" we utilize all of our influences through the years. Incorporating elements of death industrial, dark ambient, doom, and black metal, and hideously transforming and conjoining them into a writhing mass of absolute filth, a sound truly all our own. The final track, titled “Bastards of the Black Flame” can be considered a motto to us, as it is exactly who we are. The byproducts of an unholy union between some of the most violent forms of music, in both sound and ideologies.
DEATHSTENCH collaborated with Phurpa. How did this Union take form? Are you interested in the theory of empiricism in Bon Religion?
In 2012 Alexei Tegin had discovered our music from our debut album and contacted us. Both Phurpa and ourselves operate with the same meditative qualities regarding our music. Although our sound derives from different spectrums, they coalesce quite vividly. "Evoking Shadows of Death" fuses our ultrasonic vibrations and harsh atmospheres with the harmonious chants and deep, droning reverberations of their tantric voice. These two tracks are designed to help the chod practitioner tap the power of fear. This transformation does not fall spontaneously, as grace, upon the listener: the practitioner must engage in the process. One must take steps to transmute through the aural plane and, through a process in which they must actively participate, requiring utmost concentration and mental stamina. This mystical experience is achieved, not bestowed.
Empirical reasoning has no place in esoteric practices and the occult. These objects are neither phenomena (empiricism) nor human constructs imposed upon the phenomena (idealism), but real structures which endure and operate independently of our knowledge, our experience and the conditions which allow us access to them. Some things cannot be reduced down to empirical measurements.
Thanatology and satanism are your basic influences. How do you define satanism and how death in your personal path?
Deathlore has always intrigued the both of us. There is absolutely nothing more final than Death. Every single one of us will die, as Death does not discriminate. Dying, death and how human beings respond to the inevitability of their mortality and cope with the reality of loss can be viewed from a wide range of perspectives. Our intent has never been to elaborate on our practices or rituals to any audience. Even the altars we allow you to see are set up specifically for public viewing. While they are still symbolic of what we would normally produce for our own rituals, the intent isn't there. It's merely superficial. Our personal altars and rituals will always remain clandestine, as all witchcraft should be.
“Those who know do not speak. Those who speak do not know.” ― Lao Tzu
I would like to hear your thoughts and if you are into the systems of O.N.A & Temple of the Black Light in theory and praxis as Traditional satanic approach you unveil through your works . Satanism is such an elaborate construct; Atheistic, LaVeyan, theistic, there are so many paths. Satan has always been symbolic with the quest for Knowledge, of opposition to arbitrary authority, forever defending personal sovereignty even in the face of insurmountable odds. Our path cannot be defined by one simple ideology.
We have absolutely no affiliation with these groups.
Does DEATHSTENCH ever perform live?
We are very selective in our live performances. The last show was in Portland, Oregon way back in 2015 when we opened up for MGLA, Weregoat, and Sempiternal Dusk. Alan Dubin (of Gnaw, Khanate) and Billy Anderson, whom we have long collaborated with, did a sort of dueling vocals approach to our fifteen-minute audial assault on an beyond-capacity crowd. This show was recorded by Mateo from Greysun Records who also released it on his label in 2018.
Necromancy is an Old Art Like Time.Ancient Greece had deep roots also in this Subject. Are you familiar with the Ancient Greek Mysteries?
Yes, we are familiar with some of the Chthonic mysteries highlighting mortality and the briefness of life, and the spirits of the blessed dead. Though, like most true paths of esoteric knowledge, not much is truly known about the intricacies of these rituals, having been sworn to secrecy and then lost to the Sands of Time. It has been suggested that communicants would drink Kykeon infused with the psychotropic fungus ergot which helped the initiate to reach a fuller understanding of their purpose in life and to shed their fear of death and this, then, heightened the experience and helped transform the initiate. The same can be said of the Huichol in Mexico, who eat peyote at the completion of long arduous pilgrimages in order that they may experience in the journey of the soul of the dead to the underworld. Death worship and eschatology are celebrated by all cultures throughout time, most with the use of hallucinogens.
I would like to hear your thoughts on these words: “This being true for the ordinary Universe, that all sense-impressions are dependent on changes in the brain we must include illusions, which are after all sense-impressions as much as “realities” are, in the class of “phenomena dependent on brain-changes.”  ― S.L. MacGregor Mathers, Goetia the Lesser Key of Solomon the King: Lemegeton, Book 1 Clavicula Salomonis Regis
In contemporary education, the emphasis has been on the psychomotor and the cognitive, namely reading, writing, and arithmetic, at the expense of the affective, namely, the emotions, the sensual, the intuitive, and the imaginative. Priority has been assigned to the verbal-intellectual skills. Anything else tends to be shelved or boxed and put away as ephemeral, esoteric, or mystical, each of these terms being used in a pejorative sense.
Consider for a moment the human sensory system. To the scientific mind, the senses are perceived to act as a kind of data-reduction system. The problem with this concept of the senses is that we do not respond to all that is potential sensory input. Perception is quite a selective process, attending to only a small fraction of so-called reality.
To some extent, scientist or artist, everything we perceive is "illusory," since to perceive anything at all we must use our imaginative capacity for fantasy.
What can we expect from DEATHSTENCH in the near future?
We have a few albums waiting in the shadows including collaborations with Sektor 304 and LINEKRAFT, as well as another full-length album incorporating both Billy Anderson and Alan Dubin. Time is relative, and there are no promises as to when any of these releases will see the light of day.

your colors are alwasy SO GOOD.... do u have any advice for how u pick them
thank you! for advice, i have a few tips:
the first is to always keep in mind what color palette you are using. as you become more experienced this will likely become something you do subconsciously, but when i was starting out with drawing i would usually deliberately choose a color palette and reference that while coloring in my drawing.
i'll go into some basic color theory (ha ha) but feel free to skip this if you're already familiar with it.
there are many different types of palettes to choose from, but the most common ones are:
monochromatic
analogous
complementary
split complementary
triadic
square
tetradic
for example, the drawing i just posted follows a split complementary palette (which is favorite scheme btw)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i can explain this more in-depth if anyone want me to but for the sake of brevity i'll leave it at that. the only other thing that i think is important to note if you're following a color palette is that it's important to balance out the values of the colors that you are using (how light and dark they are) as well as use it as a guide but you don't have to strictly adhere to your pallete 100% if the time within your piece. for example, the my drawing uses MAINLY blue, green, and red-orange, but there is also some orange, yellow-orange, yellow-green, blue-green etc. in there as well
my second tip is to experiment! i hear the phrase "learn the rules before you break them" a lot when people are giving advice to beginner artists, which i don't always agree with because i think experimenting and finding out what you like and what you think works is very valuable (especially when you are drawing for fun and not professionally!) have fun with it, do the opposite of what people tell you to do just to see how it looks, etc. i remember getting the advice to always shade warm tones with a warmer tone and cool tones with a cooler tone (this is only a rule of thumb btw) and one day i started doing the opposite and found that it can look cool in certain circumstances
my third tip is to use references! i joke a lot about colorpicking from the most random images but i think that looking at other images and asking yourself "how is the artist/photographer using the colors to make it look this way? how do i recreate that?" and using that as a way to study their use of colors can be really helpful. i you find a drawing that has cool colors, try using those colors in your own drawings and see how they look!
the fourth tip is to play around with contrast. some drawings will look better with LOTS of contrast (where the darkest points are black and the brightest points are white), while others will look better with low contrast. stylistically, i prefer using low contrast. going back to the drawing above, there is no true #000000 or #ffffff used anywhere (except the white outline). i find that in certain situations this can help colors stand out. but like i said, it's more of a personal preference
the fifth tip is more for digital art, but it's to play around with blending layers, adjustment layers, and gradient maps if you don't like your colors but have no idea how to fix it. some programs don't have this feature but using blending layers/adjustment layers/gradient maps is sort of like using a filter to change the hue/value/saturation of your art in different ways
hope that helps! if there's anything i need to explain further please lmk!

Art Tip #1 - Color Theory: A Crash Course
Art isn't complete without colors, right? Unless you'd consider a blank white sheet of paper as art, then by all means...
In today's first stop at the Art Terminal, we will be learning how to use colors using Color Theory! Being knowledgeable about basic color theory can really help you develop your skills as an artist no matter what medium you'll be using - be it traditional art, digital art, or even a mix of both! It may seem confusing at first but with this guide, you'll be making well-coordinated compositions with flying colors in no time!
PART 1: How to use the Color Wheel
This infamous wheel by Isaac Newton helps you see the relationships between the colors.
Keep in mind these 3 categories:
Tumblr media
⓵ Primary Colors: Red┃Blue┃Yellow These are the first three basic colors - all other colors can be created by mixing them in different ways. Tip: mixing all three creates the color brown! ⓶ Secondary Colors: Purple (red+blue)┃Green (blue+yellow)┃Orange (yellow+red) If you've noticed, these colors are created by mixing our primary colors. ⓷ Tertiary Colors: Red-Orange┃Red-Purple┃Blue-Purple┃Blue-Green┃Yellow-Green┃Yellow-Orange As you might have guessed, we get these colors by mixing our primary and secondary colors.
Part 2: What are the Color Properties?
Keep in mind Color has 3 primary properties:
⓵ Hue: the colors in their purest state - or in other words, a color's name.
Tumblr media
⓶ Saturation: the brightness or dullness of a color - the intensity or purity of a hue. Tip: High Saturation/Saturated = color looks very bright ┃ Low Saturation/Desaturation = color looks washed out or greyed out
Tumblr media
⓷ Value: the degree of lightness or darkness of a hue. Tip: There are 3 ways to change a color's value: Shade┃Tint ┃Tone
Tumblr media
Shade/Shading: a shade is a color that is produced by adding black.
Tint: a tint is a color that is produced by adding white.
Tone: a tone is a color that is produced by adding grey.
Tumblr media
PART 3: What is Color Harmony?┃What Color Combinations or Schemes can we use?
Go back to the Color Wheel as it is a good reference in helping you create appealing schemes. Here are 6 common combinations you can apply in your work:
⓵ Analogous: uses colors (around 2-4) that are next to each other in the color wheel - Match them!
Tumblr media
⓶ Complementary: uses colors that are opposite or across of each other on the color wheel - if you can't match 'em, clash 'em with their opposites! Tip: matching these colors creates great contrast and visual interest so they can overpower each other sometimes so keep that in mind.
Tumblr media
⓷ Split-Complementary: 1 base color then 2 colors adjacent to its complementary color - if the contrast too much, split them!
Tumblr media
⓸ Tetradic: uses 2 complementary pairs. This forms a rectangle on the wheel - if you need more variations go double complementary!
Tumblr media
⓹ Triadic: 3 colors that are evenly spaced out in the color wheel. You're free to choose from a variety!
Tumblr media
⓺ Monochromatic: uses different tones, shades, and tints of a singular color. Sometimes it just works!
PART 4: What is Color Temperature?
Ever wonder why some compositions feel cold or hot? It is a fact that color has the ability to evoke feelings or emotions. As such, color temperature is the one responsible for this - it is the "warmth" or "coolness" of a color.
Warm colors: Reds┃Oranges┃Yellows Generally seen as colors that are bright, cheerful, active, or happy
Cool Colors: Purples┃Blues┃Greens Generally seen as colors that are dark, mysterious, melancholic, or gloomy
And that concludes this stop for today! These tips are a lot to take in, we feel you, and that's alright - come back to this station when you need a quick reference. We hope you learned a lot from this and that you'll be able to apply them in your paintings or digital illustrations!
Now pack your art supplies and start creating! Safe travels~

Published: Nov 15, 2023
From top-to-bottom, society has conditioned us to think kindness is an unmitigated good. The golden rule to “do unto others as you would have others do unto you” is one of the most remembered lines of Jesus, but the lesson is near ubiquitous across both the world’s religions and secular moral philosophy. To be kind is one of the first lessons we teach our children. Our greatest works of fiction have focused on the heroism of kindness. Even our advertising frequently uses the morality of kindness to ingratiate us to brands.
But far from an unmitigated good, kindness has a dark side. The once virtuous cell of kindness has metastasized into a cancer. The evolution of kindness, manifested in the unparalleled cooperative ability of mankind, enabled the development of civilization.
In contemporary times, however, pathological kindness has become one of the greatest threats to bring about its destruction.
In the beginning, kindness was not a luxury, but a need. To escape the poverty and starvation inherent to the state of nature, humanity had no choice but to learn to be kind to each other in order to successfully cooperate and produce what they needed to survive. As the great economist Ludwig von Mises explained, “[w]e may call consciousness of kind, sense of community, or sense of belonging together the acknowledgment of the fact that all other human beings are potential collaborators in the struggle for survival because they are capable of recognizing the mutual benefits of cooperation, while the animals lack this faculty.”
“However,” Mises continues, kindness was not developed as a virtue purely in the abstract. “we must not forget that the primary facts that bring about such consciousness or such a sense are the two mentioned above. In a hypothetical world in which the division of labor would not increase productivity, there would not be any society. There would not be any sentiments of benevolence and good will.”
Kindness became a virtue precisely because it’s productive. But, in a world of abundance, kindness instead now often eats away at the resources of society. In a prosperous, advanced society where individuals have moved up Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, expressions of kindness towards those who cannot or will not help themselves has been able to develop as a dominant virtue.
Kindness towards those who cannot help themselves is indeed a virtue; anyone of us could fall into this situation through no fault of our own. But kindness towards those who will not help themselves, who seek to leech off of us rather than contribute to society’s progress, is where virtue slips into vice. Most dangerously, those who are successful at taking advantage of society’s kindness rarely admit they will not help themselves, but wear the mask of those who cannot.
When a scammer takes advantage of your kindness to profit at your expense, we all know they’re the bad guy. But when someone claims victimhood and takes advantage of you by passing laws and regulations, we’re supposed to call that the justice of democracy.
This is the politics of Leftism, from the Jacobins through classical Marxism and now wearing its more fashionable woke regalia. A class group or cultural group (including race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, etc.) flips morality on its head by claiming itself as oppressed—those who cannot help themselves—and appeals to the vice of kindness to gain legal advantages over other groups and redistribute resources towards itself.
To be clear, not everyone on the Left is a manipulative leech. Numerically most will be manipulated hosts. But their manipulators fit a personality type known as the dark tetrad: narcissism, psychopathy, machiavellianism, and sadism. Amongst other traits, dark tetrad types tend to present with a sense of entitlement and a victim mentality. Studies have demonstrated a strong link between the dark tetrad personality and politically correct authoritarian behavior, which includes a belief in censorship of words and ideas deemed offensive by the authoritarian, that those who utter these words and ideas should be punished for it, and a belief that alleged perpetrators of crimes against a victim group should be treated as guilty before proving their innocence.
Distinguished evolutionary biologist Richard Dawkins brilliantly explains in the video below how evolution leads to the existence of such dark tetrad behavior. A world full of kind people is evolutionarily unstable as it creates an incentive to take advantage of the productive ability of the kind masses. But if those who live by leeching off of others become dominant in society then it’s just as evolutionarily unstable, as society collapses from its inability to produce. A society mostly full of kind people, but with a few leeches, can last for the long run.
youtube
In an era where victimhood culture is becoming dominant, we are moving into unstable space. It wouldn’t be the first time such an unstable arrangement had the opportunity to destroy a civilization—just look at the Soviet Union. While dark tetrad personalities only constitute about 7% of the international population, in the contemporary West the leech’s activism appears to have led to a far larger percentage of their hosts accepting their destructive ideas. These hosts are overrepresented amongst the world’s upper classes given that being higher on Maslow’s Hierarchy provides more of an opportunity to extend pathological kindness. Rob Henderson has famously labeled this phenomenon “luxury beliefs.”
So what do we do about this problem? You read it already: it’s time to stop being kind to people. Not everyone, obviously, kindness is usually a virtue and should be extended to everyone who wishes to cooperate to build our shared society in peace and productivity, and should also extend to the many well-intentioned hosts of bad ideas who know not what they do.
But when it comes to the leeches, it’s time to cease acting as if it’s a moral virtue to extend endless kindness to those who seek to gain at your expense. Feeding their victimhood and entitlement is what provides an incentive for them to continue; like training an animal, when the rewards cease the behavior will follow.
As the French economist Frédéric Bastiat put it, “[w]hen, then, does plunder stop? It stops when it becomes more painful and more dangerous than labor.”
Yes, many already express hostility and disgust towards the woke and mock them online (and sometimes in person), but how many speak of it with clarity as a moral virtue to do so? To make the leech’s hosts stop feeding them, they must understand that their overextended kindness is a moral evil.
At least one woman understood this: Ayn Rand. Rand spoke of the “virtue of selfishness,” pioneering clickbait tactics with an intentionally provocative phrase designed to grab people and force them to think, but that when explained becomes more agreeable than at first glance. “Selfishness” to Rand did not mean gaining at another’s expense, as the leeches (or “parasites," in her words) do, but acting in one’s long-term rational self-interest. That includes being kind to those who work cooperatively with us to make the world a better place, which is most people most of the time. But to be virtuously selfish, in Rand’s view, one must oppose altruism: self-sacrifice for another’s gain.
Unkindness towards those who deserve it needn’t and shouldn’t be a permanent attitude. Those willing to stop using victimhood as a weapon should be met with forgiveness. Perhaps they should even be treated with disproportionate kindness to encourage others to also give up their maladaptive beliefs. We want to reward people who stop their pathological behavior and join the cooperative harmony of human civilization. But until then, we must be brave. We must be willing to be seen as black sheep in order to fix society’s broken morality.
Don’t be kind to those who seek your destruction, and know and say loudly that you are right not to do it.
==
It's not a kindness to help people avoid living in reality. It's not kindness to lie in order to deprive grown adults of the opportunity to live in the real world.
We don't lie to the religious any more. We don't pretend to pray with them because they'd be offended otherwise. We don't say that their faith is reason enough to believe an obvious lie.
Stop letting people manipulate you into lying for their benefit.

The Dark Triad by u/Elsbeth55
The Dark Triad I’ve seen the term Dark Triad mentioned on this sub several times as an explanation of the behavior of This Ones Wife. I just read a article with a layperson’s s explanation of this condition and thought I would share it with you.https://archive.ph/bmGy3“The term was first used in 2002 for people with narcissism, Machiavelli tendencies and psychopathy for people who are social predators who charm, manipulate and ruthlessly plow their way through life, leaving a broad trail of broken hearts, shattered expectations and empty wallets.”Some people “display a 4th trait to make a Dark Tetrad: the enjoyment of others’ suffering.”Wow. Read it - if you are interested- and share your thoughts? post link: https://ift.tt/tJfezgw author: Elsbeth55 submitted: October 20, 2023 at 03:01AM via SaintMeghanMarkle on Reddit

"...I know you know that, and that's the problem." Truth, the Problem with Conservatives
We know they're lying. They know they're lying. We know it will hurt people, even kill them. They know it will hurt people, even kill them. Yet, they lie anyway. How can that be?
Meme: Halcyon Days Way back at the beginning of August in those halcyon days of yore in our simpler more innocent times, when it was Alex Jones’ libelous slander of the Sandy Hook parents that was on trial and dominating the news, we heard the heart wrenching testimony of Scarlett Lewis. She took to the stand and to look Jones the eye and say that she was real, her son was real, the shooting…

bird - like claws,    crimson  and dark once lie gently trailing against the wizard’s chin.    a soft gesture,    not meant to harm his body but threaten his mind.    the once - dual,    now succumbed entity is not a chimera,    but a creature of velvet misery.    pain is beautiful to her,    so she treats with with great care,    like a gardener to fruit ready to devour.    but howl is not a being made for her consumption,    that much was clear since she had the first taste of his magic.    the demon is not greedy,    but at home in magical abundance,    bitter return to childhood,    his energy envelops the space as her teacher once did,    which speaks highly of his potential,    untarnished by god - hood but very much en route to true,    unadulterated power.    she’s too close,    pushing him against the bookcase behind him,    books fall as she pushes forward only to be gracefully levitated by her,    tetrad gaze remains severely locked against his bright eyes.    pursed lips breathe out as sharp pain oozes through her wrists,    pushing her away from him.    sly man,    his tendrils,    armed with fire as culprit.    eyes squint at him,    and she resumes her posture fixing the mane of darkness behind her bare shoulders.    expertly,    her flesh heals (    i am not bound to physical existence,    bold wizard,    you dare threaten me   ?    ) faintly echoes through the space,    but instead of recognizing his mischief she gives him a subtle smile,   the heir doesn’t enjoy chases,    but he makes it extremely enjoyable in his quick wit and charm.    “ see ?    dear howl,    ” she steps forward slowly,    shifting her sharp fingers into soft human ones as she cups his chin.
Tumblr media
“    you cannot hurt me.    do you imagine what you would be able to do if i blessed you with a lick of my power    ?    your pathetic little spells,  ”  a self - serving lie,   “   exalted as if you have trained them for a millennium.   only a small price to pay.   ”
Tumblr media
she is a quick-witted entity,   more versed in the chase than he is,   her existence lain in an existence far better,   and far less constraining,   than the one he inhabits.   this is precisely what make it his domain,   and not her own.   but she is quick,   and he trips by accident,   gaining only enough time to sear her flesh until it sizzles like a slab of steak on a grill,   palms and fingers bleeding white-hot heat.
he cannot hurt her   [ … ]   in any way that counts.   echoes of words long-passed sound from the depths of his mind once more,   even as he looks into shards of blue that flicker in the dark pools of her gaze :   large,   round things that nearly cause him to shudder as he looks into them.   he can only hold her gaze for a moment before he finally casts his own away,   so as not to lose the composure he already finds difficult to maintain.   she stands so close to him that he loses his train of thought at every breath he takes.   he swears,   even with her skin so red,   that her touch could burn him if he didn't lift his chin away from the fingers that hold his chin.   he might have called them caring if he didn't know any better.   he knows better than anyone now.
but he is nothing without his ability to compose himself neatly on the outside,   as though she hardly gets to him at all.   she may threaten,   she may slither her notions through his mind,   but only he is the one who can affect his expressions.   and he does,   cooling his palms in a moment from their once scalding temperature.   his sleeves are not yet drained of his tricks.    ❝    ah,   but you think you know me far better than you truly do.   do you really believe i would pay a price for the power you possess ?    ❞    he smiles in his self-satisfied,   pleasantly smug way,   if only to draw a bit of irritation from the demon.
Tumblr media
❝    dear raven.    ❞    against the shelf of books,   howl moves his arms behind his back,   resting his elbows quite comfortably on a shelf at perfect height,   fingers brushing over the hard spines of these books what books are still propped upright,   that is.    ❝    who said my aim was to harm you physically ?    ❞

Top ten things I want to see in Black Clover's final arc
Nobody asked for this but I'm SO excited to see where this arc goes but also. A little scared and unsure of WHERE it's going to go. But here's ten things I would like to see happen or be included, but of course this isn't like a formal "prediction" or anything.
PLEASE send me asks about your predictions/hopes for this arc as well as any thoughts on my list. I am rolling around on the floor full of ideas rn.
Massive Black Clover manga spoilers ahead!
10. The involvement of the Diamond Kingdom
The last we heard of the DK, it had been decimated by Zenon and the Spade Kingdom! I am so curious to see what happened to Mars and the rest, and would love to see the King of the DK for once. Maybe they will end up helping out Asta and the gang when they go up against Lucius.
9. The return of the Dark Triad
Well.. I guess they are a "tetrad" now. I hope Lucius has a plan to bring them back in some fashion, and I think this is likely based on their "undying body" plan. They may already HAVE undying bodies, so after the dust settles they may re-emerge!
8. Return of the elves/Elysia!
The elves had very little to do last arc so I want to see them back and relevant again. We also REALLY need more info about Elysia and the Dryad, because they were shown for 2 seconds and then never addressed again!
7. A proper explanation about... THAT
How did Lucius get in Julius's body? Does Lucius=Julius? Or is it a Patri/William situation? Is Julius a fake soul that had a mind of its own? What was the point of the swallowtail? How can Julius be Lucius if the Novachrono's are a noble family with a traceable bloodline? Does Julius=Astaroth? Did Astaroth make a contract with Lucius and THEN bodysnatch Julius? WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON-
6. An "insurrection" or "banishment" storyline
I would love it if Lucius retained his position as Wizard King for his evil plan, then banishes or attempts to capture the heros. That way they would have to escape to another kingdom, or even to a country we haven't seen yet. This would be a great way to bring in the Diamond Kingdom!
5. The Earth Spirit
I would just like to see it. I'm sure it will be coming in this next arc! I'm so excited to see if it is contracted with a new character or with one of the characters that we already know. I feel like Mars might be a good pick, but maybe it is partnered with the Diamond King... I just think that would be neat.
4. Dwarves
Are they still around?? Where are they??? Will they ever be relevant other than Charmy? I hope so... I would like to see the main characters team up with them, maybe to hide from Lucius and plan their counterattack.
3. Lucius titty window
Loving the open shirt look. He needs to stay that way sorry.
2. Fuegoleon spirit dive
Yes. Just yes. I want to watch Cyril explode over this.
1. Please...
... just save Julius 😭😭 I don't care if he's stripped of his power at the end and gives his title to Asta or Yuno. I just want him safe. I feel like there's good evidence that he was never a bad guy, just a victim of the whole Lucius/Astaroth situation, so I can only hope that he comes out the other side of this series alive and well.
Fellow Julius Stans... stay strong. Enjoy the evil dilf while he's here. I know I will be 😈

I appreciate your deeper dive into the psychology of sadism. I previously assumed dominance was a core part of sexual and non-sexual sadism, but you indicated that that’s more along the lines of psychopathy. Since psychopaths have low/no empathy and tend not to be very emotional, can they also be sadists?
My read on MM is that Renee is a sadist and Davin a psychopath, maybe. Would you agree with that?
dominance can be a part of sadism, but at least as far as non-sexual sadism goes, id say its way more common for it to be primarily a control thing - my point was that unless other factors are involved, a sadist usually won't hurt you with the motive of gaining something tangible for it. waters get muddled though, human brains are weird
sadism and psychopathy can definitely overlap, in fact psychopathy + narcissism + machiavellianism + sadism form what's known as the dark tetrad. pretty cool stuff to look into if youre morbidly curious about your psychology. the dark triad, esp machiavellianism, is what inspired a lot of davin's character
as far as my boys are concerned:
renee is a sadist with like 20 other disorders to go with it. absolute trainwreck of a man. i dont feel qualified enough to diagnose him with anything but i have my private guesses lol
davin is pretty complicated, but definitely scores high as far as the dark triad is concerned. some aspects of psychopathy fit him, others don't - i'd say the ones that do are the ones that overlap with high mach, so i wouldn't call him a psychopath. hes still very fucked up though

you know the moment we learnt the groups name was the drak triad people thought of the psychological dark triad and how each of the three would represent one of the dark triad aspects dante narcissism vanica is psychopath continuous antisocial behavior, impulsivity, selfishness, callous and unemotional traits (CU), and zenon is Machiavellianism which is a personality trait centered on manipulativeness, callousness, and indifference to morality. but where does lucius exist on that spectrum
See at first I didn't like the way this ask was worded but then I realised this was straight copy pasted out of Wikipedia. Where the answer to your question actually lies!
If you actually dig deep enough on the same page, specifically in the Other Forms and Relationship to Other Forms , well find two major things and indications as to what Lucius is:
1) The origin of the dark triad terminology and scaling comes more in detail in the Atlas of Personality, Emotion and Behavior
Tumblr media
I want yall to pay attention specifically on the Dominance 2 Affiliation -2 corner because that is where Lucius will likely fall.
Dominance and Affiliation can be more in depth explained here
Tumblr media
Basically with Dominance as how Up Front/zealous the personality trait is and with Affiliation being behavior towards other people.
To put into perspective, this is how said text defines No Dominance and No Affiliation [0;0]
Tumblr media
And THIS is how it describes Max Dominance and Max Negative Affiliation [2;-2]
Tumblr media
Most of the behaviors described by such can't really attribute to Lucius but more so attribute to Point Two
2) There is already a proposed theory by several researchers to expand it into a Dark Tetrad, with the forth being Sadism.
Sadism being defined in context of Dark Triad/Tetrad as the enjoyment of cruelty and is highly correlated with the dark triad, researchers have shown that sadism predicts anti-social behavior beyond the dark triad.
Sadism CAN very well fit into the classification box of max Dominance and Max Negative Affiliation AND apply to Lucius in this case.
We've SEEN Lucius just straight up be sadistic, not pain wise bit psychologically. Literally the first thing we see is him cause pain and grief to damnatio over the whether or not Julius is Astaroth. He let's Asta have his moment of joy and then he starts making him suffer, similar to how in ChainsawMan, Makima first let Denji experience happiness and then rip that happiness away.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
His entire idea of "saving the world" is based of turning destroying humanity, then turning them into copy pasted shells of their former selves with no flaws or characteristics and then controlling them, making him the ultimate dominant authority.
Tumblr media
Honestly, it might even show WHY Lucius is being so fucking horrible to Asta. This man is so focused on controlling everything, that when Asta, the one thing he can't control, starts moving out of line, he's obviously unhappy and ends up wanting to make Asta suffer for doing so.
TL;DR: Lucius is an emotional sadist who's also the showcase of The Rise Of Puritanical Christianity in the CardContinent, which I will get into on a different post, and Asta being the fork in the road is bringing out his worst personality traits

“We really getting to see why Lucius is "Sadism" in the Dark Tetrad with this chapter. One of the most common traits associated with it is "use of emotional cruelty" and like, damn he is not playing around”
