Okay, so, y'know how Jason Todd in fanon is normally depicted as a hothead who just explodes with anger? That's... Not actually Jason... At least in canon. People think he has an explosive temper when that's far from the truth. Example, the Lost Days (and UtRH) storyline. Instead of going after Bruce immediately after learning the Joker is alive and there's another Robin, he makes a plan to control Gotham first. He simmers in his anger. He waits, and he plans, and he executes that plan when the time comes. Sure, in the moment he seems like he has an explosive temper, but that's actually weeks to months worth of anger coming out at the same time.
Jason Todd is actually more like Batman than people think he is. Like, the similarities are long. That's why Jason, Artemis, and Bizarro are called the Dark Trinity (plus that they're all from each of the original Trinity's mythos'), and why Jason is the leader. Artemis of Bana-Mighdall has an explosive temper, so she can't lead (plus, while the most sensible, she doesn't fully understand the concept of extreme planning, like WW). Jason Todd, has a calm and calculative reaction to horrible situations, that he allows himself to feel later. Like Batman, except when he feels it, he's not useless like Batman is at the time.
Ok, I need some of y’all to *chill* when it comes to the WEBTOON. We are three episodes in and some of you all are already imploding. We haven’t even really started. The writers themselves said Jason’s run as Robin is way more complicated and complex than just “he’s angry.” Jason loves Gotham and no where does Bruce imply otherwise. But he is giving him a realty check about the job. This is a kid that has been deeply hurt by the system, and Bruce wanted him going into this job with the correct mindset. The writer himself has said that he loves Robin Jason because he’s the one that has the most empathy and connection to the people on the streets.
And in regards to *that* family panel. This is from Jason’s POV not Bruce’s. We all know that Bruce loves that kid. However I can see why Jason feels a lot more comfortable with the Outlaws. There are no expectations for him and no judgments. The man can relax around them. Jason, unnecessarily, set himself some pretty high expectations during his time with Bruce, and maybe he felt like an outsider sometimes even though he wasn’t. But this is *his* point of view, and like an good unreliable narrator, that doesn’t always match up with the reality.
So can some of you chill out and actually give it a shot before you all jump to conclusions or the writers throat. The entire team really seems to love these characters, let’s see how they make the characters grow and where they take their arcs. Cause they’re writing this from the ground up.
Reading Rebirth Era Red Hood and the Outlaws after New 52 Era Red Hood and the Outlaws is such a slap in the mouth. Dark Tinity got me feeling every human emotion in 3 issues while REDemption was such a weird, uncomfortable nothingburger. I'm still reeling. How did Lobdell go from the flattest cheesecake imaginable to this rich tres leches delight? Was it just the curse of the New 52 Era? Executive meddling? A wizard pact?!
One thing I don't like is Colress's treatment outside the mainline games--he's a fun, but pretty amoral dude who plays both sides tho ultimately favors the hero, because Ghetsis is such a dick that Colress can't stand him.
The anime and manga have him more as a villain rather than the more chaotic neutral character he is, not really playing sides.
Like, it might be an unfounded/illogical worry since it is the games' version, but there's always that slight fear in the back of my mind of them having him regress somehow in the story.
Kook!Princess getting passed around by these three until they’re satisfied. The trio, fighting over you the whole time, even though you belong to Rafe. He’ll play along, chuckling to himself because he knows at the end of the day who had you first and who’ll get you last.
