all i have learnt is that i should i should never learn to begin with because when my head is speaking over my feelings and intrusive thoughts lure me in their den—i go without walking because in place of two feet my hands are filled with razors and blades.
initia - Chapter 2 (on Wattpad) https://www.wattpad.com/1038558640-initia-chapter-2?utm_source=web&utm_medium=tumblr&utm_content=share_reading&wp_uname=Persiefml&wp_originator=CCTZ0UkQsW%2FUmm9lhzqXSB1FWczApTcJ8NyIpkrL5O40VKG2UTZX8lPlXTNBdONG7SNetRou4QLs4by5MuXRBVDIKMNfUfmOAKpdX%2BhZ%2B%2BrGUpUME0iDt2nwivV%2Fa%2FSL Violet is the Princess of Mariposa and is a young black lesbian who is in a relationship with the princess of Kiomaya. She and her friends, the Princess of Orpherice and Ranazia, attend Initia, a school for those blessed with elements. Her cousin, the Prince of Nemeris, is blessed with power and attends Initia, tensions run high as the change in dynamics threatens the peace of Violet's life. Violet is told that a hate group has risen, and they must show a united force. Students at Initia begin to disappear, and the threat of violence is placed on the shoulders of the young group of Royals. As they cling to their normal lives, more acts of aggression destroy their normality and begin to change them. Violet must watch her best friends and family change as they go through loss and pain. As the Princess of the most powerful kingdom, they constantly look to her, unable to deal with the pressure she constantly turns to her girlfriend to escape her life. It was our last year of Middle school; we were so close to finishing together. I remember when my biggest problem was what subject I wanted to study. Why couldn't that stay my biggest problem? Why did everything have to change? Coming to Amazon in July but would love your opinions on improvements.
your laying in bed, candles burning bright, rain drizzling outside your window. your listening to the harry potter soundtrack and you start to feel like your slowly transporting into that reality and life couldn’t feel more magical than this moment.
A Queer retelling of Shakespeare’s Julius Ceasar, Lauren Emily Whalen’s new YArelease Take Her Down has some VERY dark themes, a lot to love, and a little to improve. I absolutely loved all of the representation although I think that at times the book trie too hard to be inclusive. The format, a thesis written in 5 acts (like the play) is different an can be hard but I think it works given the subject matter. There are A LOT of trigger warnings, and I do advise readers check those out before proceeding. Retellings are one of my favorites (outside horror) when done right and this one is done right, down to the play on names. The intro (lost half of the book) is slow and can get repetitive but the rest of the story is very good, there will be characters and situations you will hate, to be spoiler free, I wont say more. I loved Whalen’s previous book, Two Winters and after reading this, she will be an author I will watch for. It’s not a perfect book, but it is a good one. I give this 3.5 of 5 stars and thank @suzyapprovedbooktours and @laurenemilywrites for the review copy of this book. My thoughts and opinions are entirely my own. #bookstagram #booktour #suzysapprovedbooktour #coffeedogsbooks #retelling #lgbtqbooks #takeherdown #darkacedemia #triggerwarnung⚠️ #readthisbook #ya #bookblogger https://www.instagram.com/p/CbLT0uIL4Aa/?utm_medium=tumblr
words are just splattered coffee and zoned out silence. it is when you say 'yes-im-fine' and even the person who barely gives you an eyebrow attitude can tell you are not. it is the no in your (no)thing and you are all jagged breaths gasping for a sentiment of actual yes.
