An Unexpected Taste of Love: Chapter One
Pairing: Darkling x Female Reader
Rating: Teen and Up
Summary: You are a servant at the Grand Palace, but when a threat to the Second Army’s General leads to the King assigning him a taster, you are forced into a new role that just may be the starting point for a whole new journey.
Author’s note: I haven’t read the books but there may be a couple of small references to them that I have picked up from other sources (other fics, the grishaverse wiki, etc). Other than that, this fic is solely based on the TV show version of the Darkling.
Warnings: Near death experience, The Darkling is his own warning

Masterlist | Chapter Two >
You were in the kitchen polishing the silverware when you were summoned. It was not uncommon for you to be pulled away from various tasks throughout the day, there was always something else to do in the Grand Palace - Lords or Ladies who could not wait another second for you to cater to their every need - but a direct audience with the King and Queen was a rarity.
Not rare enough, you thought to yourself as you bowed to the two royals sitting at their thrones.
‘How may I be of service, moi tsar?’ you asked, polite and professional and not at all betraying the growing sense of dread you were feeling.
‘There has been talk amongst our enemies,’ said the King in his usual pompous tone that made sure everybody else knew he was more important than them. ‘A plot that threatens our Second Army. More specifically, their General.’
You frowned, confused. What did this have to do with you?
‘Serious as such a threat is,’ you said, choosing your words carefully, ‘General Kirigan is a very capable man. I’m not sure how I can be of use.’
The Queen tsked disapprovingly but did not comment.
‘The General is our most powerful Grisha and one of our greatest assets in the war,’ said the King. You fought back your grimace at hearing him refer to a person as an “asset”, as if they were property and nothing more. ‘We can take no chances. Which is why you will be reassigned to the Little Palace as his personal taster to ensure that even a threat from within would fail.’
A cold shiver of fear washed over you at the announcement. There had been enough attempts on the King’s life throughout the years for you to know that poison was a favoured method of assassination… and a very nasty one. You didn’t want to die that way.
But you also knew you didn’t have a choice in this. To refuse the assignment would be akin to treason.
‘Of course, moi tsar,’ you said with another bow. The movement made you feel nauseous. ‘When do I start?’
‘Straight away, so you had better pack your things quickly. You are to taste every meal until this threat has been discovered. No exceptions.’
You recognised the dismissal for what it was and gave one final bow before leaving the room with as much dignity as your nerves would allow. What you were nervous about most, you weren’t sure. Not only did your new role carry the possibility of a painful death, but it would also bring you in direct contact with the most powerful man in all Ravka. Sure, the King had a higher status, but General Kirigan’s power was of his own making and could not be stripped as easily as a title. Even from just the few times you had been in the same room, you could tell that he had intelligence and patience way beyond that of the royals.
And it didn’t help that he was incredibly handsome as well.
It was sure to be an interesting assignment, even if it ended up being your last.
----
It did not take long for you to pack up your things, and soon you were being shown to a new room in a new palace. ‘The General very rarely eats with the other Grisha,’ said your escort, Mina, a fellow servant. ‘He mainly has his meals in his rooms, and they can be at irregular times.’
You nodded along, trying not to get distracted by your new surroundings. The Little Palace was not as glamourous as the Grand Palace, but new environments were few and far between for you. Serving the royal house did not leave you with much free time.
‘Here we are,’ said Mina, opening a nondescript wooden door. The room beyond was much the same as your one at the Grand Palace, and you felt silly for thinking it would be different; a modest bed, one chair, a small table, a chest of drawers, and a clock. It had no character whatsoever, but it was warm and dry, so you counted yourself lucky.
‘Dinner is in three hours,’ said Mina. ‘But it’s best to be early. Especially tonight.’
‘What’s tonight?’ you asked.
‘They are celebrating the union of two Grisha. It’s not a big party, but a party nonetheless.’
You nodded, nerves rapidly returning. You always hated serving at parties, but at least the servers blended into the background as they did their tasks. Tasters were watched.
‘Thank you for your help,’ you said, putting on a polite smile even as your stomach tied itself in knots. ‘I won’t keep you any longer. I’m sure you have lots to do.’
Mina nodded gratefully before scurrying out of the room, no doubt off to help prepare for the night’s festivities. It was only once she had left that you realised that you didn’t actually know how to get to the dining hall.
----
The dining hall, as it happened, was not hard to find. People were already starting to converge there and all you really had to do was follow the crowd. Once inside, you stood at the back of the room with the other people dressed in white and waited for the food to arrive.
While waiting, your eyes scanned the room, looking for black amongst all the reds, blues and purples. It didn’t take long to find your target. General Kirigan was already sitting at his designated seat, looking over the festivities without joining them. Even while comfortable and content, he looked imposing, leaving no doubt that he was the one in charge. He would have reminded you of the King if it hadn’t been for the fondness in his eyes as he watched his people celebrate.
There was a scurry of movement beside you, bringing you out of your thoughts with a start, and you tensed as the servers began fetching refreshments from the kitchen.
Showtime.
You closed your eyes and took a moment to will your heartrate to go down, reminding yourself that your job was a precaution and that it was unlikely that the food was actually poisoned. Once you had managed to convince yourself that you were not going to die that night, you opened your eyes and made your way to the General’s table, grabbing a spare stool as you went.
‘General,’ you bowed before placing the stool opposite him and sitting down. He raised a questioning eyebrow at you, but a second later, the food arrived and he seemed to realise why you were there.
‘I did try and tell the King that this was unnecessary,’ he sighed, irritated.
You tried your best to ignore the looks you were getting from those seated around you and kept your focus on the General. ‘The King is a hard man to sway,’ you said, making sure to keep your expression neutral.
The General made a noise of annoyed agreement before picking up his fork. ‘Well, I am quite capable of eating my own food, so you are free to leave. I will tell the King that you are doing your duty.’
‘With all due respect, General,’ you said, making him pause. He raised his eyebrow at you again, but you continued anyway. ‘If you are poisoned, the King will have my head. If he even found out that I had not been doing as he ordered, I would most likely be locked up for treason. I’d rather not take that chance.’
For a few agonising seconds, General Kirigan said nothing, and you fisted the fabric of your dress at your lap, hating that your fate was in this man’s hands. You couldn’t force him to let you be his taster, and if he refused, it was only a matter of time before the King found out.
Eventually, however, he held his fork out to you, a silent invitation for you to proceed. You let out a breath of relief and took the utensil, your fingers accidentally brushing his as you did so. You quickly looked down at the food in front of you, hiding your blush.
Saints, you were already messing this up.
More people were watching you now and you tried not squirm under their gaze as you stabbed at a random vegetable. The food was better than what you knew was usually served – most likely due to the celebratory nature of the event – and you did your best not to seem like you were savouring the crisp taste.
Remembering that it could very well be poisoned helped with that.
The minute long wait to see if you’d drop dead seemed to take hours, and by the end of it, you were so fidgety, you were sure the whole room was judging you.
When you were sure that the food was safe, you put the fork down and pushed the one that had been allocated to you towards the General, seeing as he had given you his. ‘Should be safe,’ you said, finally meeting his gaze. He was watching you with an amused smirk. You didn’t know if that was good or bad, but it did remind you of just how attractive the man in front of you was, and you looked away again, this time blushing for a completely different reason. Thankfully, you only had one more thing to do before you could escape until the next course.
You reached for the goblet next to the General’s plate to test the wine that had just been poured, but suddenly a hand was around your wrist, stopping you. Your eyes followed the black sleeve up to meet the General’s gaze. He no longer looked amused.
‘The wine was opened at the table,’ he reminded you, stern but not angry like you had expected him to be. ‘It is no more poison than any other wine.’
If people weren’t judging you before, they certainly were now.
‘But what of the goblet?’ you asked, forcing yourself to hold the General’s stare.
His eyes bored into yours for a few moments, assessing you, before he looked to his goblet and then back to you. His lips twitched as he released your wrist and sat back in his seat. It almost looked like he was impressed.
You let out the breath you had been holding and finally allowed yourself to break eye contact. You couldn’t believe that you had just stared down the Darkling and won, even if it was over something as small as a sip of wine.
The wine, naturally, was not poisoned, but you didn’t allow that to sway your opinion that you had been right to test it. Thankfully, the General did not berate you for any “unnecessary” actions; he simply dismissed you so he could carry on with his meal in peace.
You happily left him to it, returning to your place at the back of the room and hoping it would be a while until the next course. Every now and then, the General would glance over to where you were standing, and if it wasn’t for the fact that you were just a servant, you would have said that he looked intrigued by you.
But you were just a servant, and you were hardly interesting enough to garner any attention from noblemen or generals
No, you doubted you would make much of an impression on anyone at all.

Aleksander Morozova oneshot TEASER
Tumblr media
Aleksander raised an eyebrow and stepped forward to cage you in against the edge of the bar. You silently disavowed your hips for lifting to meet him even as your eyes closed when his lips brushed your forehead, heat spreading from that one tiny spot to the rest of your body. You exhaled a shaky breath and felt his smile.
“You still want me” he murmured darkly, lowering his mouth to the outer edge of your ear.
“Nope” you insisted, popping the ‘p’ with defiance. “Sorry. I don’t.”
“Yes, you do. Lie to yourself all you want, honey, but you cannot lie to me. I made you, sweetheart.”

NNN Day 27 with Aleksander Morozova
Pairing: Aleksander Morozova x Fem!Reader
Tags: nsfw, smut, creampie, pregnancy mention, kissing, clit stimulation, post-nut cuddles
A/N: It's kinda hard to be excited about writing this cause it feels so bittersweet. Hopefully we can do the same thing as the Warrior Nun fandom and save this show and it's spin-off. Until then, enjoy this smut, the show may not be around for now but the fandom was here before it and we'll be here after it. Just... sucks that Netflix doesn't care.
Tumblr media
Challenging Aleksander not to nut for a whole month wasn't as fun as you thought it would be. For every day he didn't come he made you come hard. It sounded like a good deal until your clit was so sensitive that just him cupping your pussy and pressing against it was enough to make you come. By the time he decided to stop trying not to fuck you it was so sensitive that your pussy tightened almost on command.
"This is your fault darling, I'll keep punishing you." You hickuped against his chest as he placed one of your hand over his hip and pressed himself against you, his abs stimulating your clit, making your whole body tremble against you. "Try not to come too much, we're trying for a baby remember? I want to make sure you get pregnant after today."
"I can't help it. You're the one who made me this sensitive. What were you thinking? Every day for the past month too." You moaned moaned his name against his chest, pussy tight around his cock, still trying to milk him of every drop. As if he has more to give, not after so many hours. It was surprising he was still hard after all that.
To your surprise he did indeed have more for you. Not as much as the last time but he rolled his hips upwards, his seed flowing between your, across your thigh and onto the bed.
"Don't mind the mess. I'll get someone to clean it up tomorrow." Tomorrow? He smirked down at you as you looked up, eyes wide. "Why so surprised? I did say we would make a baby tonight didn't I?" He rolled you on top of him, ignoring how you cringed at the sight of his cum covering his stomach. "You'll be the one to clean those. After all, I don't want my pretty wife getting jealous." His hands pulled your thighs down, keeping you grounded against him as he started moving once again, your back arching backwards at the anticipation of more cum entering your your pussy soon.

The night was alive with magic and wonder, a sight that never ceased to take your breath away. The sky was a canvas of velvety darkness, studded with countless stars that twinkled like diamonds. The air was cool and crisp, carrying with it the scent of pine trees and freshly fallen leaves.
But it was the moon that truly captivated you. It hung low in the sky, a shimmering orb of silver light that illuminated everything in its path. Its glow was soft and ethereal, casting long shadows across the ground and painting the world with a dreamlike quality.
As you gazed up at the satellite, you felt a sense of peace wash over you. It was as if the moon held some secret knowledge, some ancient wisdom that could only be accessed by those who were willing to open themselves up to its power.
And so you stood there, bathed in its light, feeling the weight of the world slip away. For a moment, you was suspended in time, lost in the beauty of the night and the breathtaking majesty of the moon.
You find yourself standing on the balcony of the Little Palace, which was an extension of your bedroom. As you look out, you can't help but feel awestruck by the beauty of the moonlit night. Its soft glow fills every inch of your being, almost as if its power is permeating through your skin and into every cell of your body. For some, this moment would be nothing more than a passing experience, but for others, it was a time of wonder and magic.
And you were one of those people.
The Moon Summoner.
Although it doesn’t sound like much, you were quite a unique Grisha. You possess the incredible power to manifest the power of the moon itself, a force that grants you the ability to mend matter and accomplish feats that others can only dream of. Your abilities are almost unstoppable during the night, and you adore the chance to harness their full potential when the moon is at its brightest. With your power, you can illuminate even the darkest corners of the world or shroud yourself in shadows, becoming one with the night and moving unseen through the shadows. No enemy in their right mind would dare to show their face to you during this time of day, knowing that they would be no match for your formidable abilities.
You knew that you possess abilities that are far beyond what most people could ever imagine. The thought of it fills you with a sense of awe and pride, but it also makes you wonder: are you really as important as you believe yourself to be?
You pushed away from the railing and let out a quiet sigh. The cool breeze brushed against your skin, causing you to pull your night robe tighter around your body. Despite being an independent and strong woman, you couldn't help but feel vulnerable when it comes to him.
Is it because he's charming? Has a way of making you smile, even on the darkest of days. Or is it because one look into his dark, mysterious eyes is enough to make you forget about the world around you?
Perhaps it's because you feel important and wanted in his presence. He sees you for who you are, beyond just your power and abilities. He recognizes your strengths and admires you for them. But at the same time, you can't help but wonder if you're just a pawn in his game, a means to an end.
The Darkling.
The name alone sends shivers down your spine. He is a man of power and mystery, with an air of danger that draws you in like a moth to a flame. You found yourself increasingly drawn to him, the mere thought of him sending a rush of excitement through your body.
Every time you're in his presence, you feel the butterflies in your stomach fluttering wildly, threatening to take flight at the slightest interaction. He has a way of making you feel alive, as if every nerve in your body is on fire. Even the nights have become sleepless, as you toss and turn, unable to stop thinking about him.
But it's not just his power that attracts you, though that is certainly a factor. There's something about him, something in the way he moves and speaks, that sets him apart from anyone else you've ever met. He's confident and self-assured, with a magnetism that is hard to resist.
Aleksander was the one who made you feel like you were the center of his world, the one who cared about you more than anything else when you were in his presence. But then, she appeared. The Sun Summoner.
At first, you tried to ignore her, to brush her off as just another Grisha with a unique power. But as time went on, you realized that she was different. She had a power that was unparalleled, a power that made Aleksander’s eyes light up with a newfound passion.
Suddenly, you found yourself pushed into the background, like an afterthought. The attention that Aleksander used to lavish on you was now focused solely on her. It was like she had cast a spell over him, drawing him in with her power and beauty.
A feeling of jealousy gnawed at you from the inside. You tried to push the feeling away, to tell yourself that it didn't matter. But deep down, you knew the truth. You couldn't accept that Alina might be more powerful than you. That her power could bring more help than yours, which in its strongest form only appeared at night.
You had always prided yourself on your unique ability to harness the power of the moon. It had made you feel special, important. But now, with Alina's power shining so bright, you felt like a small, insignificant thing.
You knew that you should be happy for her, that her power could bring great things to Ravka. But every time you saw her standing next to Aleksander, it felt like a reminder of everything that you weren't. It made you wonder if he even needed you anymore, now that he had her.
As another gust of wind blew across the balcony, you cast one last glance at the bright satellite before turning around to head back inside. Sitting down on your bed, you felt a determination settle over you like a cloak. You knew that you couldn't keep ignoring the way you felt about Kirigan. There was something between the two of you that couldn't be explained in words, something that had been growing stronger with each passing day, until the Sun Summoner appeared in the palace.
You remembered the way he looked at you, with that intensity in his dark eyes that made your heart skip a beat. You remembered the way he made you feel, like you were the only one in the world that mattered. And you knew that you couldn't let that go.
Tomorrow, you would talk to Aleksander. You would lay everything on the table, tell him how you felt, and ask him if there was anything between the two of you worth fighting for. It was a risky move, but you couldn't keep living in uncertainty, wondering what might have been.
The night was long and restless, much harder than you had expected it to be. Despite your exhaustion, you couldn't seem to find a comfortable position to lie in, tossing and turning as your mind raced with a flurry of thoughts and anxieties.
You rehearsed every scenario that could arise during your conversation with Aleksander, going over each detail in your mind with meticulous precision. You had planned everything out perfectly, prepared for any outcome, yet your heart continued to pound with a nervous energy that you couldn't shake.
As the hours ticked by, the darkness outside your window slowly gave way to the first rays of morning light. Only then did you finally drift off to sleep, the weight of your thoughts and worries finally taking its toll on your tired body.
But your slumber was short-lived, as you were soon roused from your restless sleep by a knock at your door, signaling the start of a new day. Sitting on the edge of your bed, bleary-eyed and lost in thought, you began to doubt yourself. Was your plan foolproof? Despite your best efforts, your confidence wavered, and you wondered if you were truly ready to face Aleksander.
As you both sat down to have breakfast, the tension in the air was palpable. You could feel Kirigan's eyes on you, but you kept your gaze focused on your plate, not wanting to give him the satisfaction of knowing just how much his recent behavior had affected you. However, you couldn't help but notice how he kept glancing over at Alina.
After finishing your meal, you mustered up the courage to speak up. “I need to talk to you later, General,” you said firmly.
His response was curt, “We can talk now if you want,” but you shook your head, insisting on speaking in private.
Now, you stood outside his office, trying to calm the nerves. You didn't know how to begin this conversation, or what you even wanted to say. Everything you rehearsed in your head last night has been replaced by emptiness. All you knew was that you couldn't keep pretending that everything was okay. The closer you got to his door, the more you felt like turning around and running away. But you knew that you couldn't keep running from your feelings forever. It was time to face them head-on.
You took a deep breath, bracing yourself for what would surely be a difficult conversation. You knocked on the door, and after a brief pause, Kirigan invited you in. The door creaked as you pushed it open and stepped inside, and the sound seemed to echo through the tense silence. Aleksander was seated behind his desk, his piercing gaze fixed upon you. Your heart thudded painfully in your chest, and your palms grew slick with sweat. You tried to steady your breathing, but it came out ragged and uneven.
For a moment, the two of you just stared at each other in silence. You could feel Kirigan's eyes on you, like he was peering into your very soul. You felt small and exposed, like a mouse caught in a trap.
Finally, you found your voice. “I need to talk to you about something,” you said, your words coming out in a rush.
“Of course,” he replied, his voice calm and measured.
Your heart was pounding so hard in your chest that you could barely hear him. You felt your hands start to shake, so you clasped them together tightly, hoping to hide the trembling.
“I don't know how to say this,” you began, your voice barely above a whisper. “But I have feelings for you, Aleksander. I've had them for a long time. I can't stop thinking about you.”
His expression didn't change, and for a moment you feared that he hadn't heard you. But then he spoke, his words cold and distant. “I see,” he said. “And how do you expect me to respond to that?”
The chill in his voice made you feel like you'd been doused in ice water. You swallowed hard, trying to fight back the tears that threatened to spill over. “I just needed to tell you,” you said, your voice trembling a little. “I needed to know where we stand.”
He raised an eyebrow. “And where do you think we stand?”
You were caught off guard by his question, which caused you to unconsciously take a step back while looking at Aleksander in confusion. The room appeared to have suddenly become cooler, although you couldn't tell if it was just your tired mind projecting false perceptions. Kirigan subtly tilted his head and kept his dark eyes on you as he waited for your response, showing no intention of saying anything further.
You took a deep breath. “I hate that I was always yours and you were never mine,” you said, the words bursting out of you before you could stop them. “I hate that you made me feel like I was special, like I was important to you, and then you just tossed me aside when Alina came along.”
A look of anger flashed across his face, and you realized that you'd hit a nerve. “You're being ridiculous,” he snapped. “I never promised you anything.”
“That's not the point,” you said, your voice rising in pitch. “The point is that you manipulated me, Aleksander. You made me think that you cared about me, that you wanted me, and then you just... disappeared. It wasn't fair.”
He leaned back in his chair, his expression stony. “Life isn't fair, my dear,” he said. “You should know that by now.”
You felt a surge of anger, and you squared your shoulders. “I thought you were different,” you said. “I thought you were better than this. But I guess I was wrong.”
He glared at you, his eyes blazing with fury. “How dare you speak to me like that?” he said, his voice low and dangerous.
“I'm not going to be your puppet anymore, Aleksander,” you said, your voice steady. “I'm not going to let you manipulate me and use me like you did before. I deserve better than that.”
He stood up, his fists clenched at his sides. “You don't know what you're talking about,” he said, his voice shaking with anger. “You have no idea what kind of power Alina has. You have no idea what's at stake here.”
“I don't care,” you said, your voice fierce.
The tension in the room was palpable, suffocating, as you and Aleksander faced off. The air crackled with unspoken words, with the weight of all the unresolved issues that lay between you like an unbridgeable chasm.
But then something snapped in your head, and you realized who you were actually talking to. This was the commander of the Second Army. The Shadow Summoner. And you were treading on very thin ice.
You felt a sudden surge of fear, but you refused to give way. You squared your shoulders once more and looked him straight in the eye, trying to summon all the confidence you could muster. “You want to banish the Fold?” you said, your voice unsteady. “I'll help. But after that, I'm out of here.”
There was a long pause, and you held your breath, waiting for his response. Aleksander's face was inscrutable, but you could feel the weight of his gaze on you like a physical force. You felt small and insignificant in his presence, but you refused to show any weakness.
Finally, he spoke, his voice low. “You think you can just waltz in here and make demands?” he said. “You think you have any bargaining power?”
You cleared your throat, “I know what I can offer,” you said, trying to sound confident. “I have skills that could be useful to you.”
Aleksander sit down again, his eyes narrowed. “And what makes you think I need your skills?” he asked.
You felt a rush of anger, but you kept it in check. “Because I know what it's like to be used, Aleksander,” you said, feeling a sudden surge of courage. As if playing with fire brings you pleasure. “I know what it's like to be manipulated and discarded. And I don't want that to happen to anyone else. Especially not Alina.”
There was a long pause, and you held your breath, waiting for his response. Finally, he nodded, a small, tight smile on his lips. “Very well,” he said. “You have a deal. But remember this, my dear. You are playing a dangerous game. And if you cross me, there will be consequences.”

The Darkling's daughter #2.
Tumblr media
You are a shadow summoner and sometimes it's hard for you to control your abilities.
Tumblr media
You were hurrying down the hall to your father's office. The darkness was blurring your eyes, so you barely saw where you were going. Oprichiniki who were standing at the door rushed to you and helped you to get into the room.
"Papa help me!" You cried.
The Darkling turned to you and raised his eyebrows. What he saw confused him. Your skin was pale and black veins bulged under it.
Alexander looked at you with admiration and sympathy at the same time. "Do you feel how powerful your shadows are?"
You shook your head. "I want to stop it. It's like the darkness is devouring me from the inside." You whispered, barely holding back tears.
Lessons with the Darkling.
Tumblr media
"Summon the shadow." Alexander asked softly. Darkness swirled in your hand. "Shape it."
Slowly, the shadow turned into a butterfly. It flapped off from your hand and landed on the side of an old broken fountain.
The Darkling nodded. "Continue."
You focused and shaped it to raven, but it was barely recognizable. It was hard for you to keep the shadows in one figure.
Your father came closer and put his hands on your shoulders. He smirked and whispered in your ear. "Do you feel how many efforts goes into this exercise? Next time you feel the darkness overwhelm you, focus on shaping it. Try to create huge and clear figure of animals."
He kissed your head and gently stroked your back.
Lessons with Baghra.
Tumblr media
Despite the fact that you are relatives, you go through humiliation just like other Grishas.
"Stupid girl!" Baghra exclaimed irritably. "How many times do I have to repeat that you cannot lose concentration?"
"Enough!" You raised your voice at her. "I've said a hundred times that it happens without my control!"
Baghra's eyes widened in unpleasant surprise.
"Get out of here and don't come back until you learn how to control yourself." She told you in an unnatural calm tone.
"Instead of me, you should have learned tact." You wanted to exclaim, but you closed your mouth in time and only looked angrily at Baghra. Then you smiled nastily. "Fine. Since now, I will have lessons only with papa."
You stormed away from her hut and loudly closed the door.
"What a spoiled girl." She grumbled.
From time to time you secretly leave the Little Palace just to hang out, but your father really concerned about it.
Tumblr media
The last trip outside the Little Palace was quite disappointing. Your horse got terrified because of the snake. It galloped into the woods, where you fell and broke your shoulder. Returned in the dead of night, you immediately went to the healers.
Finally, you got to your room, and only you fell on bed when someone knocked the door.
"Come in." You groaned.
It was Ivan. He told you that your father is waiting for you in war room.
"I was informed about the incident." The Darkling told you as soon as you came to the war room.
"Please. It's my fault. I admit it. Can I go?" you had no energy to discuss this situation.
Taking a deep breath, he told you to came closer. He looked right in your eyes and then asked clearly. "Do you think I require you to inform me when you're going to leave the palace, just to bother you?"
You already opened your mouth to opposite him, but he pressed his forefinger to your lips and gave you a meaningful sight.
"You think you are a big girl who can deal with any problem by herself, isn't it? Of course, you can handle a few drunk men from those awful taverns where you like to waste your time. But who can protect you from accidents like today?" After a little silence, he whispered. "Don't break my heart, Y/n."
"I am sorry, papa." You sobbed and hugged him tightly.

An Unexpected Taste of Love: Chapter Eight
Pairing: Darkling x Female Reader
Rating: Teen and Up
Summary: You are a servant at the Grand Palace, but when a threat to the Second Army’s General leads to the King assigning him a taster, you are forced into a new role that just may be the starting point for a whole new journey.
Author’s note: I haven’t read the books but there may be a couple of small references to them that I have picked up from other sources (other fics, the grishaverse wiki, etc). Other than that, this fic is solely based on the TV show version of the Darkling.
Warnings: Near death experience, The Darkling is his own warning
———————————————————
< Chapter Seven | Masterlist | Chapter Nine >
You were not wrong about there being a lot to prepare for the night’s dinner and show, and before you knew it, you were waiting in the dining room with a few other tasters. Alina’s presentation had gone well – you hadn’t seen it yourself, but you were already hearing the words “Sankta Alina” being thrown about – so now you were waiting for everyone to slowly make their way to the dining hall so that the food could be served. There were already a few people wandering in, but you could tell that it would be a while before everyone was seated.
The idleness was killing you, to be honest. Your fingers twitched, longing to do something, anything, just so you didn’t have to stand there with only your own thoughts to focus on. But alas, there was nothing you could do, so you tried your best to find a distraction in people watching, imagining what each person’s life was like and making up silly little stories for them.
You knew it was a lost cause when every one of those stories included Aleksander in some way.
You were in the middle of imagining a grand love story for a Lord and Lady in the far corner when a flash of black caught your eye. You turned to see Aleksander’s familiar back kefta as he passed by the dining hall entrance.
But it wasn’t the only black kefta you saw. Alina was wearing one too, beautifully decorated with gold embroidery. She held a bunch of blue flowers in one hand and the other was tucked under Aleksander’s arm as she smiled up at him.
Even with only the brief glimpse you got of them, it was obvious where they were headed and why.
So that was that then, you thought as you tried to covertly wipe the tears from your eyes. The symbolism of Alina wearing black was not lost on you; she was Aleksander’s now, and they both wanted everyone to know it.
You were pretty sure being poisoned had hurt less.
----
The last few people were just getting themselves seated when the news broke. There had been an attack and the Sun Summoner’s decoy had been killed. Ivan and Fedyor had assured all the guests that Alina was safe, but the party had to end early.
It wasn’t until you were helping the other servants clean up that you caught whispers of the truth; Alina was gone, taken in the night. How, you had no idea. She should have been safe in Aleksander’s rooms, even if he had had to leave to deal with the incursion.
But one look at Aleksander and you knew that the rumours were true. You had never seen him look so angry, not even when discussing General Zlatan. Despite your jealousy and heartache, you hoped Alina would be found soon. Not only were you worried for her, but you couldn’t bear seeing Aleksander looking so troubled.
Which was why you decided to take him his breakfast the next morning, adding something extra to make up for his missed dinner. The pair of you may not have been as close as you once were, but you still hoped you could cheer him up, or at the very least offer some reassurances.
You realised straight away that that was going to be a more difficult task than first thought. He barely even reacted when he saw that it was you who entered his rooms rather than one of the usual servers.
‘I’ve brought you some breakfast,’ you said rather needlessly, but it was better than awkward silence. After clearing a space on the table to set down the tray, you turned to Aleksander with a careful smile. ‘Extra bacon.’
Aleksander didn’t so much as twitch his lips. He didn’t even look at you. He just remained sat on the side of the bed that obviously hadn’t been slept in. He looked more than just tired. You would almost say he looked... defeated.
It was not an expression that you were used to seeing on his face, and you weren’t surprised to find that you hated it.
‘I’ll even test it for you,’ you said, grabbing his fork. ‘Just like old times.’
Still no reaction.
Your smile fell and you put the fork down, already knowing that the meal would not be touched. ‘Is there anything I can do?’ you asked, softly. Anything to help take away that lost look in his eye – to make him smile again. ‘What do you need?’
‘I need Alina.’
His answer was immediate, and you did your best to push away the jealousy that came with it.
‘I’m afraid that is a bit beyond my limits,’ you said with a sad smile. ‘But I’m sure your soldiers will turn up with something soon.’ When he still didn’t look at you, you nodded sombrely, accepting that he didn’t want your help. ‘I’ll, uh… I’ll just go.’
You managed to turn just in time to hide the tears welling in your eyes. He didn’t need to see them, not with everything else he had to worry about.
‘I’m using her.’
Aleksander’s words made you freeze, just a few feet from the door, and you turned back around to face him. He still hadn’t gotten up from where he was sat, but at least he was looking at you now.
‘Using her?’ you asked, too confused to be upset anymore.
‘I need Alina for my plans, and without her, all this will have been for nothing.’
Aleksander’s explanation did nothing to help your confusion.
‘What- I don’t understand. What plans? What will have been for nothing?’
Aleksander silently got up and walked towards you… only to pass you completely and head out to the main room of his quarters. You followed to find him standing at the giant table, looking down at the map.
‘I lied when I said our kiss didn’t mean anything,’ he said. ‘The day I rode out to the Fold, I fully intended to come back and spend every night with you in my bed.’
You had no idea what to do with that information. It was unexpected, to say the least, and you didn’t know if it made you feel better or worse.
‘Why didn’t you?’ you asked. ‘I mean, I know it must have something to do with Alina, but I think I’m going to need some specifics.’
Aleksander let out a weary sigh. ‘I have been waiting a long time for someone with her kind of power. I always expected, if such a person existed, they would be found early and be sent to the Little Palace to train… so when this soldier, a mapmaker no less, showed up out of nowhere, I couldn’t risk leaving things to chance. Alina was a wildcard that I had to keep close. I had to make sure she knew that she needed my help as much as I needed hers.’
‘So you don’t…’ You trailed off and cleared your throat before starting again. ‘Every person in Ravka knows how important it is to destroy the Fold. Surely you don’t need to “use her” or whatever it is you think you are doing. Why keep her that close?’
‘Because I don’t plan to destroy the Fold.’
He turned to face you, and you could tell that he was dead serious.
For a moment, you were too stunned to speak; you had thought that Aleksander would want the Fold gone more than anyone. ‘But… why wouldn’t you destroy the Fold?’ you asked once you had found your voice again. ‘The future of Ravka depends on it.’
‘Not necessarily.’
And so he told you his plan. All of it. He told you about amplifiers and the Stag. He told you about his plans to kill the royal family. He told you about planning to use the Fold as a weapon to wipe out entire cities so that no one would dare threaten Ravka again.
He told you about how he would bind Alina’s power to his, by force if needed.
By the end of it, you were horrified. You understood the why of it all… but surely he could see that the horror of what he planned to do? You had believed that all the stories about him to have been exaggerated or just plain false; you had believed that he was a good man. Had you been wrong?
Looking in his eyes, you got your answer. You could see his resolution, but you could also see how closed off he had become to any other emotions. He had convinced himself that this was the right path, but you knew there was guilt there, maybe even doubt. He wouldn’t have felt the need to explain his plan to you otherwise.
Evil men did not feel guilt.
‘Aleksander,’ you started, softly. ‘Please don’t do this.’
Aleksander did not look surprised by your plea, furthering your belief that he knew what he was planning was wrong. ‘It’s the only way,’ he said, turning back around to face the map. You stepped forward and lightly took a hold of his arm, turning him back.
‘It’s not, and you know it.’ Annoyance spread over his face, but he did not berate you for talking above your station. To be fair, that ship had sailed a long time ago. ‘You can help Alina tear down the Fold,’ you continued. ‘United, Ravka will win the war, and the Grisha will finally be free to choose their own lives. No more grooming children to be soldiers.’
Annoyance turned to anger, and Aleksander shrugged out of your grasp. But you didn’t back down. ‘It’s not your fault,’ you said before he had a chance to lash out. It seemed to work; Aleksander continued to scowl but he let you speak. ‘I know that you only did what you had to do to make a sanctuary for Grisha, to keep them safe… but what you and the King have made here, it’s a training camp.’
‘And you think that will change once the Fold is gone?’ he asked, voice full of condescension. ‘You think the King will suddenly let go of his favourite assets?’
‘I never said I disagreed with every part of your plan.’
The implication of your words was enough to silence him, and you used that silence to your advantage.
‘Tear down the Fold, dethrone the King. Kill him if you must, Saints know he deserves it… And then take the throne as the hero the kingdom will know you to be. The great General Kirigan who found the Sun Summoner and helped her unite our country.’
You could tell that Aleksander liked the sound of that, but you could also tell that he was not convinced.
‘Please, Aleksander.’ You were near begging at this point, but you didn’t care. ‘Fear is not the path to freedom.’
‘But it is the path to power,’ said Aleksander, standing straighter. ‘If we tear down the Fold, we win the war but there will still be those who will try to harm the Grisha. If we use the Fold, our enemies will not dare come for us. We can live in peace at last.’
‘And what of all the innocent people who are killed in your show of power?’ you asked. ‘Or the ones who pay the price when their governments try stand against you? Because they will stand against you. Where is their peace? Where is Alina’s peace?’
‘The Grisha have been persecuted for hundreds of years.’
‘I know, and they deserve to be free from that. But this will not bring them freedom. It will just make them the new drüskelle.’
Finally, you saw a flicker of doubt in his eyes.
‘The only way things will change permanently is for the world to see that Grisha are not that different from non-Grisha.’
Aleksander turned away and rested his hands on the table. His shoulders were still tense, but you could tell that most of his anger had left him. You once again placed a comforting hand on his arm, and this time he didn’t shrug it off.
‘When you rule by fear, someone will always rise up against you,’ you said, softly. ‘And then you will just be right back where you started. That’s not the peace the Grisha deserve. It’s time to move forward, Aleksander Morozova. Please don’t become the villain the history books have painted you as.’
At the sound of his full name, Aleksander spun his head to face you, eyes wide.
‘How did you-’
A knock at the door cut him off, and you reluctantly lowered your hand.
‘Moi soverenyi,’ came Ivan’s voice. ‘We have news on the Sun Summoner’s whereabouts.’
You let out a soft sigh and took a step back from Aleksander. He continued to stare at you for a moment before straightening his shoulders and putting his mask back up, making it impossible for you to tell if you had gotten through to him or not.
‘Whatever we do,’ he said as he strode purposefully towards the door, ‘we still need the Sun Summoner.’
He did not look back.

Trouble Just Walked In : an Aleksander Morozova x f!reader oneshot
Tumblr media
Summary: Modern au. You were the one that got away, slipped from the clutches of Alek Morozova. The most dangerous man you’ve ever met, and the cleverest. He always had his claws in deep and your heart would always be his. Together, you were like fire meets accelerant.
This does contain some 18+ elements. Mind your P’s and Q’s, dot your i’s and cross your t’s.
Tumblr media
The bar was shrouded in shadows, old stripped wood countertop now a little rough under your folded arms. Your drink sat untouched in front of you, sweating a ring beneath it. You swept a finger up the side of the glass, gathering drips of condensation on your fingertip. You barely heard any of the conversation happening around you, in spite of the fact it was your friends doing the talking.
They had dragged you over your doorstep in the hopes of getting you to drink or dance or just do something that wasn’t remembering him. They could all repeat verbatim your ‘over him’ speech, but not a one believed a word of it.
The fine hairs on your arms suddenly all stood on end and the hubbub to either side faded away, leaving you inside a strange pocket of silence. You knew the moment he came through the door, you knew he was here for you.
Now perfectly attuned to his presence, you picked up on each and every whisper he caused as he drifted through the room, his target on your back. Your bare back arched a little as his radiated heat brushed against your skin seconds before his fingertips grazed your spine.
“You never drink.”
His voice was like silk in your ears, wrapping around your mind and muffling the voice of reason. You turned slowly to face him, leaning your elbows back on the bar.
“Maybe you’re the reason why I started.”
There was a quiet scoff in his throat before he shook his head at you.
“No.”
You raised your eyebrows.
“You think you still know me, Alek?”
His dark eyes flashed dangerously, a warning, but you never heeded his warnings. Which is why you were here in the first place.
“I will always know you, mine.”
You narrowed your eyes and huffed in disapproval, already ignoring your common sense.
“I’m not yours, Alek. Not anymore. Never again.”
He gently ran his hands over your hips, rucking up the fabric of your dress until he had enough of a hold to lift your hips all the way up to him, your toes in low heels almost leaving the sawdust floor. You didn’t have the strength just then to look around the room, but you were sure you could feel many eyes on you and him as he held you against him, your gaze glued to his.
“Your body tells another story entirely.”
His voice poured into your ears like honey, warm and saccharine, and you glanced down to see that, indeed, your chest was moving rapidly up and down, and you had very little doubt Aleksander could see your very pulse throbbing beneath your skin.
“My body tells lies, Alek” you said quietly. “My mind doesn’t.”
He chuckled softly and you closed your eyes against the memory of him making that same sound as he nosed his way up your thigh, his long fingers holding your ankles apart.
“Your mind tells you more lies than you think” he told you, lightly pressing his lips to the corner of yours; they parted on instinct and he grinned, kissing your cheek. “It tells you you don’t love me anymore? Lies. It tells you you don’t want me now? More lies. It tells you you’re not mine anymore? The biggest lie of all, sweetheart.”
“I loathe you” you sighed, finally reaching up to twine your arms around his neck, fingers sinking into the thick hair at the nape of his neck.
Aleksander laughed, properly this time, and it sent a not unpleasant shiver up your spine.
“Now that is a lie” he murmured, anchoring an arm around your waist and spinning you away from the bar, back onto your own feet as he released his grasp on your hips.
You tilted your head to the side and cocked an eyebrow as you looked up at him.
“You want me, Alek? Come get me.”
You twisted free of his arm and wandered away in the general direction of the bathrooms. You didn’t need to look to know he was hot on your heels, his onyx eyes boring into the back of your head.
The door to the women’s bathroom closed, you heard the lock snick and before you could process what was happening, Aleksander had lifted you bodily onto the wide countertop, in between two of the shining sinks. You squeaked a little as he shoved the hem of your dress up again and the bare skin of your thighs slid against cool porcelain. His mouth scorched yours as he palmed your hips, fingernails digging in just a little and his beard scratching lightly on your skin.
Your legs fell open so he could stand squarely between them, the pads of all ten fingers now branding the flesh of your sides.
He pulled back suddenly, flushed and black eyes blazing with a familiar heat. You knew you looked just as wrecked, lips swollen and chest heaving for him.
Aleksander lifted one hand and gripped your jaw, his thumb pressing into your chin.
“Tell me” he said, sounding somehow breathless and commanding at the same time.
You blinked, your mind fogging.
“Tell you what, Aleksander?”
His eyes flashed at the sound of his full name coming out of your mouth and he tugged you even closer.
“Tell me you want me, tell me you love me, tell me you’ll always be mine.”
You possessed the audacity to roll your eyes.
“Oh, for Saints’ sake, Alek, all of those things and more. Now kiss me, damn it!”
His grin was feral, and it made your stomach flip as he leaned in and did it again.

Perfect for me
Eryk (The Darkling) x fem!bookish!durasts!reader
TW:
Word count:
Grishaverse Mainlist
Master list
Eryk was tired, the journey took longer than expected. His face was wind bitten and he wanted to sleep, the last thing he expected to be greeted by was the sound of a girl screaming.
"WHAT DID YOU DO CIAN!?"
The sound made the sixteen year old boy perk up, he looked up from the ground and watched as a girl frantically recovered a book from the snow. Her body was... tense, she seemed mad. Her blue dress fluttered around her as she knelt, then clung to her as she stood. She wiped the snow from the bound book, acting as if it was her last possession. Eryk watched as her hair seemed to float around her, he watched as some boys surrounded her, he watched as they pushed her around and he watched as she calmly put the book away before reeling her arm back. He heard it before he saw it. The sickening crack of the boy's jaw as her fist collided with his jaw. He watched the tussle as adults pulled the two apart, he watched as the girl was dragged kicking and screaming away.
"I'm... sorry about her. She tends to be, more reactive. Than the rest."
Said an elder, embarrassment clear in his voice. A small laugh came from Lena, his mother, as she excused the girl's behavior.
Maybe this camp would prove to be interesting.
Eryk thought.
It was hours before he saw the girl again. This time her blue dress was gone. Her hair had been done up in an intricate bun and she wore a purple dress now, it made her eyes pop. But... she looked miserable. Sitting next to her father, which Eryk learned was the chief, he watched her pick at her food and as she blankly stared towards the door.
"Eryk eat."
Lena said. His mother's voice broke him from his trance and he took a bite of food. It was hot and warmed his body from the inside out, he slowly forgot about watching the girl as he ate. Warm food was amazing after weeks on the road, it made Eryk's mind hush as he ate. If he didn't have half a mind he wouldn't of noticed that girl stand up, or leave the tent. He watched her lean and glanced at Lena, who smiled simply and gave him a look of approval. Stepping into the chilled winter air, he followed the girl silently. Watching as she tugged off the dress, revealing a turtle neck and a pair of pants, and laid it over a tree then; as she took pins from her hair and scattered them on the path; he watched as she climbed a tree and retrieved a bag from one of the highest branches. Eryk watched as she melded the branches into steps, then returned them to their original form, before returning to the path. Still quietly behind, Eryk watched her meld branches, stones and how she moved metal with ease. He watched her mold a man, then a woman, and a little girl. He watched her silently flip through pages of a book before disassembling everything, the way she played with these elements of nature amused him. He barely noticed how she had expertly pulling him closer before shaping a rock into a simple knife.
"So are you going to speak?"
The question caught Eryk off guard and made him stumble through some words before she laughed and smiled gently. She dropped the rock, and returned it to a simple stone, before turning to face him. She held her hand out and smiled gently.
"I'm Y/N, what's your name?"
Eryk's grey eyes flicked over her, taking in everything about her. The way her hair laid and the way she held herself. The way she smiled sweetly and how her voice seemed so... different then before.
"I saw you break that guys jaw of yours, is he someone I should avoid?"
Eryk asked as he took Y/N's hand, bringing laughter from her.
"What!? No! That's my best friend!"
She said, making him confused.
"Do you... regularly break your friend's jaw?"
The question made her laugh more, Eryk watched as she doubled over in laughter and how her cheeks turned a pretty red. She laughed hard enough she couldn't breath.
"Saints Y/N... Shit's not that funny."
A voice sounded, putting Eryk on alert. He spun around and watched as a boy appeared from the tree line, in similar attire to Y/N. Eryk's eyes narrowed as he watched the boy come closer, he noticed the laughter died down and he couldn't help how... uneasy it made him. He followed the boy's path, turning slowly as the boy made his way to you.
"If you're done flirting with the new guy, let's go." "Go where."
Eryk asked, making you look over at him. You looked up at Cian, your friend, who was annoyed by that question.
"Out, why do you want to come?" "Y/N!" "What? It's a simple question, does he want to come or not?" "He can't come!"
Eryk watched Y/N and Cian argue before Y/N took his hand and pulled him towards the water. He watched as she created a bridge and tugged him across, as uncomfortable as Eryk was with this... he couldn't find himself saying no. He could get out of this situation if he needed to, and he knew he could. So he followed her. He followed her through the winding paths and down the slopes and... into a village. He never once tried to stop Y/N though, the most he did was slow down every now and then but she'd always screw off with Cian and scream playfully; which would make Eryk speed up again. By the time Y/N and Cian's antics relaxed, a town was coming into view. Eryk never stopped though, he followed you through the town and towards a building. He watched as you walked in, and was pushed in by Cian. Who was less than pleased by his presence with you Y/N had his full attention and curiosity, you were a peculiar soul. So lively and free spirited. It made his heart beat louder than he thought it was possible.
Something Eryk never thought would happen was to be tipsy and watching a girl. He knew the stupid look he had on his face, he knew how fucking ridiculous he looked. He knew he looked like a fucking idiot. But he didn't seem to give a shit. He watched as you danced to the chaotic music, as you laughed and pulled Cian into the dance. He must've zoned out because he didn't see you walk up to him, but he felt you. He felt your hands on his arm and how warm you felt and... you were so beautiful. Your hair had fallen from the protective style it had been in, it fell freely and saints... it made you look so beautiful.
Hours later the three of you were walking back, and Eryk laughed as he felt your arm drape over his shoulder; he smiled gently as you gently pushed him and ran ahead. You were so perfect...
Perfect for him.

Fic authors self rec! When you get this, reply with your favorite five fics that you've written, then pass on to at least five other writers. Let’s spread the self-love 💖
🥺🥺 fine. I will because you asked nicely.
1. Oh, Baby series (Eddie Munson x Fem!Reader)
2. Exile (Darkling x Fem!Reader)
3. It’s You and Me (Eddie Munson x Fem!Reader)
4. Volition (Rafael Barba x Fem!Reader)
5. The Hideout (Eddie Munson x Fem!Reader)
Tbh I think most of my Eddie fics are my favorites. At the time I posted them, I felt most confident in my writing.
