This one of a kind commission def kept me busy for the majority of the winter. It was a joy to work on!

The shawl is of my own design, and will have a pattern available soon! The hat is a modified version of the Daphne beanie adapted from a pattern by caabcrochet designs. Dark Mori Films: Street of Crocodiles (1986)

Are there any films around that could fit into the Dark Mori umbrella? If so, how they should be? Presumably dark, gloomy, strange, sometimes gory, but at the same time, loving, seductive, and enchanting. I've just come from watching a very strange stop-motion short film called Street of Crocodiles, directed by Quay Brothers.

This mute stop-motion 20-minute film tells the story of a gentleman doll who steps into the titular street, full of decandent shop windows, workshops, pictures and couture tools giving a sensation of futility and emptiness, as well as corruption, where nothing has a definite end.

The film has a dark aesthetic reminiscent of Victorian and Edwardian times filled with broken porcelain dolls, prints filled with images of skulls and muscles, sewing and mechanic tools, and flies moving around the gloomy city, all of them set around the simple yet atmospheric violin melody that plays during the entire feature.

It is a bit difficult to understand what is going on in the short film, so it is necessary to watch it several times in order to get what the story is all about. Anyway, it is a weird yet creative film that you should definitely take a peek at, particularly if you are a big fan of dark mori, steamgoth and Victorian-goth aesthetics.
