Birdsong: Beakspeaker of the Tribe of Risen Wing. They help carry the souls of the Flighted Ones either to the beyond or into their felid form. Always surrounded by a number of birds.
Darkskies: Talon to Birdsong. Very handsome and charming. A chimera. Based on my cockatiel, Silver!
Daybreak: Talon to Birdsong. Reasonable and level-headed, with a strong maternal instinct for the entire tribe. Based on my cockatiel, Sunny!

Y’all I’m gonna start posting about my favorite underrated ships until they gets some recognition
I personally think that Simon/Maxwell and Maxwell/Elias are excellent ships.
DarkSkies because they’re both old bastards but very different to one another. Simon’s cheery and high energy, Maxwell is probably very calm, collected and uptight. They complement each other very well
Maxwell and Elias are also different from one another, but more in like an enemies to lovers but still enemies dumpster fire type thing. They hate each other with a burning passion on work days and fuck nasty on the weekend (while still hating each other)

So, I got somewhat inspired by @dcartcorner 's drawings, especially there reset: elsewhere AU, and also all of their many artworks centered around the "evil old men" group, Elias, Simon, etc. So this is a bit of fluff, particularly coming from thinkin' about this painting.

Just a note, this is mostly fluff:
~
Elias looked down at his gifts and thought.
Peter had been taking far too many lessons from Maxwell. Too many. Whenever Elias had a gallery show or a library event, any sort of fundraiser really, Maxwell always tried to keep in touch and send some present, and this was no different. Always some piece of jewelry, black beaded and fillagreed, sitting sweet and innocent in it’s box with a card saying “for your love of knowlege.” And the pendant would sit in it’s jewelry box all innocent, an open eye, but as soon as he went to put it on, the eye would swing closed with gravity. Cufflinks, bracelets, it was the same every time.
(Really, this was no different, with the pendant of polished warm rose gold with a fringe of jet, jet and pale glass beads worked into the chain.)
And here was a little cardboard box from Peter, A lovely scarf, silkscreen printed with a crisp pattern of eyes, but of course they were tiny, so a few steps away and it just looked like a swathe of near to white fog to wrap around his neck. The scarf was broad, though silky, and it spread back out again when he let go of it with his fist. The card: “To reveal what is beautiful and conceal what is not.”
Elias 's eye squinted under his glasses and he whispered "Note: is Maxwell's humor catching?"
But if it was contagious, he knew to keep looking. And there was the second box from both of them, Max and Peter. And the little round tins of tea and coffee, only slightly chilled in the indoor air, made up for a lot.
And of course, the card had a little "to be continued" pointing towards the back. "Kidding, this hides what only Simon and Peter should see."
~
(anyway, hope everyone is having a nice season!)

Other Pollinators: Mexican long nosed bat (pic).
Tumblr media
Along with the lesser long nosed bat and the long tongued bat pollinate agave in Mexico and other areas of central America.
The pic is taken at night and it shows how bats pollinate by dipping their heads into the flowers and going from flower to flower.
This is the main way in which agave is pollinated. Other artificial ways are very difficult and time consuming.
Agave is a plant that grows in hot and arid regions and from which syrups, tequila and other products are made.
Studies show that light pollution is deterring bats from visiting plants at night and thus they don’t pollinate them as often. Which is interrupting the reproductive cycle of agave, affecting bats also because agave is one of their main food sources.

City of Rocks gets its name from the amazing volcanic rock formations found here. The park encompasses about one square mile of giant, wind sculpted volcanic boulders. Some of the rock columns are 40 feet high. There are paths, resembling city walkways, winding between them. The park is nestled in the scenic Chihuahuan desert region of southeastern New Mexico.  The boulders were deposited by the Emory caldera, located at the southern end of the Black range, during a massive eruption about 35 million years ago. Over millions of years, erosion whittled the columns and spires seen today. The cumulative effect is a stunning, surreal, alien landscape. The surrounding landscape is flat as a pancake.
