15: do they trust their party? why or why not? Absolutely. He still isn’t entirely up to trusting PAT or Raelian with like, super personal matters, but they’re fine in combat, and the OG three are just,,, I mean as a previous answer said, those are his best friends. He Loves those ladies and the only reason he is so terrible about opening up with all of the current Problems is because he doesn’t want to worry them even more. But they’ve been fighting together for a while now, they’ve kinda uncovered everyone’s respective secrets (except maybe Nev, but u know), and Nol and Anthe and Nev were the ones to just kinda. plant themselves between him and the entire freaking Dynasty when that asshole came calling. so yeah. He definitely trusts them.

16: what are their feelings on the people who raised them? His parents are wonderful people and he loves them dearly. Both hard workers, both affectionate, both super dedicated to their kids and each other. He’d be very satisfied if he ended up in any way a similar kind of person.

17: what do they dream about, when their dreams are their own? Doesn’t remember them super often, honestly, they tend to be pretty abstract and weird. He does get relatively frequent nightmares -- usually something to do with Illy or, more recently, Nol and the rest of the party. Seeing them hurt and not being able to get there. Some kind of physical barrier keeping him from doing anything (which was why that whole door fiasco underneath the temple was. especially fun). He does sometimes dream of home. Of the city under constant starlight.

18: do they see themself as a leader or a follower? Definitely a follower. Vic is a decent strategist in the middle of battle, but he knows he isn’t one for the big picture, and is more than happy to let the smarter people figure that stuff out.

19: what haunts them? what doesn’t? Well the little matter of Ilharess dying has uh. Certainly haunted him. A lot. Probably to an unhealthy degree. Honestly there isn’t much significant apart from that -- he didn’t take any mercenary jobs he felt were too sketchy. The closest thing might be just...he’s mostly fine with his work in the Watch because they were just defending their country. There’s occasional brief doubts, especially after he was in the Empire for a bit, because they weren’t even at war yet, but Nev’s assurances mostly drove those away. They were protecting themselves and their people. War or not, it was justified.

20: which of the five senses do they rely the most on? Probably sight. He’s gotta be able to keep an eye on the battlefield, keep an eye on where his allies are (where Nol is), where his echo is in relation to him. He could probably manage okay without other senses, but losing sight would be a very hard hit.

25: what stories do they like to tell? what stories do they like to hear? Joseph Ranges from literal war stories to like. The ridiculous things he and his brothers got up to when they were younger. I dunno that he has a preference for hearing any, just depends on who’s telling it.

E His telling and hearing are pretty much the same; the boy adores a sappy love story. The whole knight in shining armor tropes and starcrossed lovers fighting for each other and the like. The boy is a massive romantic.

26: who do they miss? Joseph Carol. and to a somewhat lesser (less considered) extent, Nate.

E He does miss his parents sometimes, just with the distance, but he can also get in touch with them without too much trouble. (It’s useful working with a ton of other magic-users.)

27: how do they mourn? Joseph Angrily. He took the oath of vengeance for a reason, even if he knows he can’t avenge Carol directly, he’s going to get retribution somewhere.

E Quietly. E definitely tries to keep up his sunny and cheerful demeanor, and though he won’t bottle it up entirely, he’ll try to save those emotions for private moments.

28: who would they kill? who would they kill for? Joseph tbh he doesn’t get torn up about killing many people. He was a soldier, it’s kinda part of the job. But HOO BOY if he could get his hands on that mage with the Fire Storm (if he could also,,, push past the very blinding fear of that mage). He might not admit as much but at this point he would definitely kill for any one of the party. He’s closest on a personal level to Alex and Jax probably, but they’re all friends. Also more obviously his family, in an instant.

E He is honestly not a “violence as the first answer” sort of paladin, so there’d be hesitation for a lot of cases. But anyone that’s intentionally hurting others, anyone threatening the things he’s sworn to protect. and he gets attached to people Very Quickly so it’s not hard to be someone he’d kill for, if the situation called for it.

29: who would they save? who would they be saved by? Joseph If it was like, the party in Great Danger sort of situation, he’d probably go for Jax first, just because he knows Jax can’t take hits like the others can. And he is kinda currently in the process of being saved by this group of weirdos. Perhaps Alex and Bo the most -- Alex because of that whole bizarre relationship they’ve started to settle into, and Bo with her near constant optimism and the evidence that even seeing a full war up close and personal doesn’t have to drain you of that.

E He’d...like to save whoever he could. That’s part of his job, saving people is a means of preserving joy and light, and he is very determined to do his job well. And lord honestly E is like. Relatively so well put together? Mentally healthy? He’s had his problems and he’s worked with them and worked past them, so his gut answer on that might just be Sune.

30: what do they seek out from others? Joseph Very unconsciously, but. Validation that he’s useful even if he’s not some super great paladin. That he’s worth more than what he can do for Tyr.

E Love. Not even necessarily directed at him, but just in general -- Sune loves love and E just thrives on people learning to love themselves and others and see the beauty in practically everything that he does. (Lord he is a giant sap.)

18: do they see themself as a leader or a follower? Vic I think I’ve gone more in-depth on this one before but yea absolutely a follower

E It really depends on the situation -- he knows there are some cases where he’s the most experienced or most capable, and he knows there are plenty where he is not. I think just given his job he’d say follower, but it doesn’t mean he doesn’t know how to take charge.

Yen He wants to be a leader. He just also doesn’t know how to do that.

21: do they follow their head, their heart, or their body? ngl okay every single one of my main kids (maybe maybe excluding Joseph) follows their heart. They may like to think otherwise (vic) but hoo boy

29: who would they save? who would they be saved by? Vic He would absolutely like to save everyone tysm. But the instinct would be Nol. (and logically logically she’s the squishiest even now, even with that amulet, and the others have healing and and and) I’m very curious whether it’ll be Anthe or Nev to break down the boy’s very stubborn defenses because one of them will. At some point. And y’know we’ll see how it goes from there but in the long run he’s just definitively be saved by this entire group.

E he’s also kinda the copout of “everyone” and he doesn’t entirely know everyone’s fighting capabilities or weaknesses yet so like ?? tbh Mango might be the instinctive move. does he need to be saved?? like listen E is so. weirdly stable and put together for being a character I created, he’s doing pretty well. (His original setting has the much simpler answer of Alex. For both.)

Yen Ax. This boy keeps getting nearly eaten and Yen is getting real concerned about it. and hhh no idea for the second part yet tbh??

51: what is the most beautiful thing in the world, for them? Vic Seeing his friends when they have downtime -- when everyone is safe and healthy and (relatively) happy, just doing stupid things together. In a more physical sense, that strange border of Rosohna’s night spell, going from midnight to midday in a single step. He never got tired of that.

E An interesting question for a guy who follows the god(dess) of beauty, part of his faith is seeing beauty everywhere, in nearly everything. He might say it’s seeing other people learn to do that, though -- watching others figure out how to see the beauty in themselves and in the world around them.

Yen Any new horizon. He spent every day up until like a month ago in the same town and the same swamp, and he still loves home but,,, getting out and seeing the rest of the world and exploring places he’d never even heard of before is probably one of the best things to come out of this whole complicated mess.

So Joseph first~~29:What are your character’s hobbies and interests outside of their class?He hasn’t had a whole lot of time for hobbies lately, but there is a genuine enjoyment in practicing with his sword(s) and crossbow and such.He also gets like. stupidly competitive with stupid games. Doesn’t entirely realize it most of the time until it comes up but it definitely comes up.

49:What colors are associated with your character?Dark blue and possibly silver

and for E29: What are your character’s hobbies and interests outside of their class?Give him literally anyone willing and he will Delight in doing some kind of make-over. In any kind of downtime he’ll be messing with someone’s hair in increasingly fancy ways. Provided with an excuse (or sometimes even without one) he will get Everyone looking super fancy, he is very good at it.

49: What colors are associated with your character?Red (for obvious reasons) and gold

💝 which OC surprised you the most this year?

I think it’s kind of an even tie between Joseph and E, tho for different reasons,,

Joseph because Boy that one shift in alignment has made such a huge difference, and I know it’s partially the very new medium, but playing him in the D&D game has made a lot of personality things ??? kind of become a lot easier to see for me. They’ve always been there in various ways, like the way he falls under someone else’s leadership so easily, but now realizing the facets of that, how he’s been so used to following orders for so long, he actively wants that, feels uncomfortable if he doesn’t have specific instructions for at least the big picture plan, he straight up believes he needs someone to tell him what to do if he’s going to be in any way effectiveand it’s been really cool and surprising digging up these little details as they become relevant in the game, especially considering how long I’ve had Joseph, and I absolutely love this game for letting me bring him back fleshed out in a way he hasn’t been for a while

And then E, my other idiot paladin son, was just the epitome of “joke character now lives here forever.” Rolling up the random race, class, and name, and I got this weirdo who turned out to be such a delight in the paladin party (+ Tom), and he ended up becoming such his own person, keeping a lot of the original ridiculousness, but also just,,, expanding in a lot of ways I didn’t expect, and now he’s still that idiot boy but he’s got such an interesting relationship with his god, he’s the sort of friend that you are not allowed to have self confidence issues around, he’s getting the chance to be so grossly domestic and sweet and justI am so proud of how far he’s come, and I cannot Wait to play him some day

1. What influenced or inspired the creation of this character?

Viconis (because Krag is going back to his actual name and that’s gonna take me a while to get used to) Em asked if I wanted to play in the Wildemount game they were planning. I’d been wanting to make an echo knight because it is shiny and new and also really cool. So I had to figure out why an echo knight would be split from the Kryn military. That led to a dead partner, which led to him never wanting that to happen again, which led to a very sturdy protection build, which accidentally led to a martyr complex. He’s a lot more sad than I anticipated when I started. It’s fine.

Yen Yen was very much built around the plot of the game -- a bunch of teenagers just coming into the memories of their past consecuted lives and trying to figure out what they mean. (They are almost all the M9′s fault.) I’d had the vague idea for him since Kayla brought up the game idea, so I knew he’d be an echo knight, but Em’s game ended up starting first so now I have two and I love my dumb fighter boys.

and because Joseph is complicated just because he’s such an old character I will also do Ecstasy (E) This idiot boy was a joke. A bunch of us did this random character wheel spin that gave like, race, class, and name. I got a tiefling paladin named Ecstasy Datharathi. The name alone was most of the inspiration, and he ended up being a paladin for Sune, the goddess of beauty, with the idea that he is thrilled to show the world his goddess’s most beautiful creation -- himself! He’s gotten a lot more complex since then, but the base is still there. A very pretty very devoted tiefling paladin who definitely lives up to his virtue name.

You did not specify a character so I will go with uhhhhhh Ecstasy actually because I don’t even think I’ve mentioned him on here yet ??? so yes let’s go with my ridiculous tiefling paladin, thank you friend !!!

1: What’s the maximum amount of time your character can sit still with nothing to do?Depends on how the rest of the day has been or is is panning out to be. If it’s been a full day full of Doing Things, he’s happy to sit for a few hours, usually uses it to meditate or pray. Once in a while, anyway. More often he doesn’t last more than like, twenty minutes without getting twitchy.

10: What lie do they most frequently remember telling? Does it haunt them?For a while as a kid -- a very young one -- he remembers telling people he was hit by some prestidigitation spell gone wrong to try and explain his bright red skin. (Not in so many words, of course, he can’t pronounce the actual spell name even as an adult.) It never worked, since it was harder to explain the horns and tail, but there was a stretch of time that he would always try it.It doesn’t really haunt him, but he’s glad his self esteem has improved enough to not bother even trying to lie anymore.

14: What animal do they fear most?He fought a mimic once. It was a small one, relatively, but it definitely left him with a good paranoia. Apart from that he’s just got a healthy respect for all of the various beasts that try to kill him.
