I understand that the "make karlach black again" mods are well meaning, I as a black woman do not really care if karlach is black because:

1.) I am sick of seeing hyper masculine depictions of black women in media.

i also do not like how these depictions subtlety imply that black women are unattractive, and not worthy of being protected and loved.

2.) maybe this is unfair of me to think so, but I do not think anyone would be quick to "rectify" kalach's design if karlach was a more feminine/softer character.

The moment Andrew put Neil's hand on his chest and Neil repeated Andrew's words back to him; "I won't be like them, and I won't let you let me be.", is such an important moment in their romance.

It's where Andrew starts really letting go. He gave Neil ground. And he didn't take it because he knew better than to accept the nonverbal permission. Giving ground doesn't mean it's ready to be taken. Andrew had always made his needs very clear, and his boundaries.

Neil took exactly what Andrew gave. No more. No less. A hand in the center of his chest. To an outsiders perspective it might not be very important but to Andrew it would've been everything.

It means he could fully trust Neil, as much as he is capable of. It's further proof that Neil wouldn't take advantage of him, push too hard, none of it. It means that for once this nothing didn't have to stay nothing. It could be something. Maybe not now, but in the future.

Andrew gave Neil a key and called it home, and Neil gave Andrew safety and called it something.
