Pordenonelegge 2023

Pordenonelegge 2023, con la sua ventiquattresima edizione, è in programma nella città friulana dal 13 al 15 settembre e conta 570 ospiti italiani e internazionali, 334 appuntamenti e 65 libri presentati in anteprima. Sarà un evento quest’anno nel segno della leggerezza, nei libri e nella vita, perché ci sono cose leggere da leggere, ma anche perché l’interpretazione della realtà pone spesso di fronte a segnali ambigui, sempre più pervasivi, e a significati manipolabili. L’immagine delle piume è il simbolo dell’edizione 2023, nel centenario della nascita di Italo Calvino, a cui Pordenonelegge rende omaggio con un percorso di incontri. Pordenonelegge ha  l’inaugurazione affidata allo scrittore ucraino Andrei Kurkov, che ha appena pubblicato Diario di un’invasione e in anteprima assoluta presenta il nuovo romanzo Api grigie. Dalla Francia arrivano Laurent Mauvignier, Philippe Forest, Lydie Salvayre, Michel Bussi e Éric-Emmanuel Schmitt con la prima presentazione italiana della sua ultima riflessione in cui è custodita una lettera inedita all’autore di Papa Francesco. Oltre all’autrice Premio Nobel Annie Ernaux, che il 16 settembre riceverò al festival il Premio Crédit Agricole La storia in un romanzo, ci saranno Andrè Aciman, R. J. Palacio, Elisabet Benavent, Alberto Manguel, Nguyễn Phan Quế Mai; Michael Žantovský, Nino Haratischwili, Natasha Solomons, Michael Bible; Robert Perišić, Anil Seth, Sally Hayden, Ramin Bahrami. L’elenco delle grandi voci della letteratura, del pensiero e dello spettacolo al festival che hanno scelto Pordenonelegge 2023 per presentare i loro nuovi libri vede Michela Marzano, Emanuele Trevi, Viola Ardone, Paolo Di Paolo, Corrado Augias, Mauro Corona e molti altri. Sabías que, el 18 de agosto cumple 67 años el cantante de salsa puertorriqueño Eddie Santiago quien tras pasar por diversas orquestas de su país se convirtió en solista y director de su propia orquesta en 1986 grabando temas que rápidamente se convierten en hits internacionales, como ‘Tú me haces falta’, ‘Que locura enamorarme de ti’ y ‘Lluvia ‘, entre otros. Fue uno de los más populares artistas de salsa entre los años 80 y 90 y por su estilo interpretativo perteneció a la así llamada ‘salsa romántica’ o érótica’ junto con otros artistas del género como Lalo Rodriguez, Pedro Conga, David Pabon, Galy Galiano y Luis Enrique. En 1999 Santiago grabó el álbum ‘Celebration: Epic duets’ en el que repasaba sus éxitos junto con otras estrellas de la salsa como Victor Manuelle, Elvis Crespo y Huey Dunbar y tras una larga ausencia en los estudios de grabación, volvió en 2004 con el álbum ‘Después del Silencio’. Set in the 1860s, follow half brothers, Sam and Elliot, as they fight across a series of satellite towns in the Sonoran Desert in order to save Elliot’s mother from their sadistic, sociopath of a father, Darragh MacDougal and the rest of his crazy bastard children.     Alright this newest offering from Mad Cave Studios is unlike any of their other books. I love that too because as they branch out genre wise it just means they are expanding themselves in a great way. Little at a time so their growth comes at the right pacing and I gotta say I think they are an amazing example of a small press company who is doing things right. This is one is a period piece and it's a western south of the border and I couldn't be any more thrilled by the concept as well as how this issue has been executed.     For me I was already excited by this and then I read the first issue and I thought wow how is it we don't see more like this. I mean being a fan of shows like Wild Wild West and The Big Valley I always forget how much I enjoy this genre of storytelling. I am even more excited since David appears to really enjoy this and is as enthusiastic about it as you can tell as a reader when you experience it. The story & plot development that we see through how the sequence of events unfold and how the reader learns information is laid down beautifully. How the situations and circumstances unfold before us has a fresh and exciting take on this era and these people and the excitement is contagious. The character development here is marvellous and how the characters act, react and behave thanks to those situations and circumstances makes them likeable or unlikeable depending on your point of view. The pacing is extremely well done and how it takes us through the pages revealing the twists and turns along the way creates this sensational ebb & flow to the book.     I love the way we are introduced to the characters here. As the story moves through the pages and we meet those who play prominent roles, heck even the minor ones too, and as we get a sense of who they are makes you even more excited for what's to come. This is so well written and how we see the books structure shows some remarkable talent when it comes to writing.     While normally I would say I would like to see sharper imagery but ya know what the work we see in these pages is perfectly suited for the story at hand. I love seeing that church in the first panel and from there everything we see is just so reminiscent in the feel of that time. The way we see the backgrounds here and how they are utilised in the composition inside the panels brings us this great depth perception, scale and overall sense of size and scope to the book. The utilisation of the page layouts and how we see the angles and perspective in the panels show such a nice, strong eye for storytelling. The attention to detail is nice to see and when one character is described as a Dandy the mode of dress yes it's beautifully done. The colour work is gorgeous as well. There is something about how the tones and hues within the colours are utilised here that has this subtlety about it but at the same time is bold in it's choices. How we see the shading, highlights and shadow work here is really nice and somehow it manages to capture a feeling of the past in ways envelope you and bring you to that time period. ​     So this is a pure and utter delight. It's great storytelling through the writing, the characters and how the interiors bring it all to life. Mad Cave man they've got another big hit with this one and if you haven't ordered it, I am sure there is still time to call your shop or service and make sure one is reserved for you.

Llevamos un buen puñado de días disfrutando en todas las plataformas posibles de Todo a Deber, el quinto single de Carameloraro, y ahora la banda salmantina nos sorprende con la publicación de su vídeoclip. Pinchad el botoncito rojo y disfrutad de un alocado robo nocturno de un maletín (¡de qué estará lleno el maletín!) con un irremediable final rockero en la antigua carcel de Salamanca. ¡Una trama cachonda para una canción pegadiza instalada ya en nuestras cabezas!

Esta canción es una oda a vivir el momento de una manera imparable. Con un registro irónico y con cierta picardía, Todo a Deber es esa inyección de energía necesaria para afrontar la rutina, en forma de carpe diem al más puro estilo rock and roll. Este tema, por cierto, sonó bien alto el pasado viernes en el Pub Monumental de Salamanca donde Carameloraro colgaron el cartel de No hay billetes en su fiesta de primer cumpleaños. El videoclip del quinto single de Carameloraro fue mezclado por José Ángel Fernández y dirigido por Claudia de Diego, Ale Santos y Jesús Galiano. El guión corrió a cargo de Claudia de Diego, y la dirección de fotografía y edición fue cosa de Jesús Galiano y Ale Santos. Caro Ministro dell’Interno Matteo Salvini , ho letto in un tweet da Lei pubblicato questa frase: “Per fortuna che gli insegnanti che fanno politica in classe sono sempre meno, avanti futuro!”. Bene, allora, visto che fra pochi giorni ricominceranno le scuole, e visto che sono un insegnante, Le vorrei dedicare poche semplici parole, sperando abbia il tempo e la voglia di leggerle. Partendo da quelle più importanti: io faccio e farò sempre politica in classe. Il punto è che la politica che faccio e che farò non è quella delle tifoserie, dello schierarsi da una qualche parte e cercare di portare i ragazzi a pensarla come te a tutti i costi. Non è così che funziona la vera politica. La politica che faccio e che farò è quella nella sua accezione più alta: come vivere bene in comunità, come diventare buoni cittadini, come costruire insieme una polis forte, bella, sicura, luminosa e illuminata. Ha tutto un altro sapore, detta così, vero? Ecco perché uscire in giardino e leggere i versi di Giorgio Caproni, di Emily Dickinson, di David Maria Turoldo è fare politica. Spiegare al ragazzo che non deve urlare più forte e parlare sopra gli altri per farsi sentire è fare politica. Parlare di stelle cucite sui vestiti, di foibe, di gulag e di tutti gli orrori commessi nel passato perché i nostri ragazzi abbiano sempre gli occhi bene aperti sul presente è fare politica. Fotocopiare (spesso a spese nostre) le foto di Giovanni Falcone, di Malala Yousafzai, di Stephen Hawking, di Rocco Chinnici e dell’orologio della stazione di Bologna fermo alle 10.25 e poi appiccicarle ai muri delle nostre classi è fare politica. Buttare via un intero pomeriggio di lezione preparata perché in prima pagina sul giornale c’è l’ennesimo femminicidio, sedersi in cerchio insieme ai ragazzi a cercare di capire com’è che in questo Paese le donne muoiono così spesso per la violenza dei loro compagni e mariti, anche quello, soprattutto quello, è fare politica.1 Insegnare a parlare correttamente e con un lessico ricco e preciso, affinché i pensieri dei ragazzi possano farsi più chiari e perché un domani non siano succubi di chi con le parole li vuole fregare, è fare politica. Accidenti se lo è. Sì, perché fare politica non vuol dire spingere i ragazzi a pensarla come te: vuol dire spingerli a pensare. Punto. È così che si costruisce una città migliore: tirando su cittadini che sanno scegliere con la propria testa. Non farlo più non significa “avanti futuro”, ma ritorno al passato. E il senso più profondo, sia della parola scuola che della parola politica, è quello di preparare, insieme, un futuro migliore. E in questo senso, soprattutto in questo senso, io faccio e farò sempre politica in classe.

Lago Maggiore Folk Fest 2023 a Baveno

Dal 16 al 18 giugno a Villa Fedora di Baveno, sul Lago Maggiore, si terrà il Lago Maggiore Folk Fest 2023, davvero imperdibile per gli amanti della musica folk e celtica. Venerdì 16 alle 20.30 la serata d’apertura della kermesse accoglierà il grande ritorno sulle rive del Lago Maggiore di Davide Van De Sfroos che, dopo la pubblicazione in doppio vinile e digitale di Davide Van De Sfroos – Live 2022, torna in concerto con “Live Estate 2023”, una serie di appuntamenti per l’Italia e la Svizzera. Ci sarà una scaletta ripensata per questo tour, prodotto e organizzato da MyNina, dove, oltre ai successi e ad alcuni brani del disco Maader Folk, si aggiungono canzoni che mancavano da parecchio tempo nel repertorio live del cantautore. Sul palco ci saranno anche i musicisti Angapiemage Galiano Persico (violino, mandolino, tamburello, cori), Daniele Caldarini (tastiere, chitarra acustica), Paolo Cazzaniga (chitarra elettrica e acustica, cori), Silvio Centamore (batteria, percussioni), Andrea Cusmano (trombone, plettri, chitarra, flauti dritti, fisarmonica, tastiere, cori) e Matteo Luraghi (basso). Van De Sfroos verrà preceduto dai Gadan, gruppo che comprende 4 musicisti esperti e già largamente conosciuti nella scena irish-rock italiana, ricchi di anni di frequentazioni dei maggiori festival europei e americani di folk tradizionale e contaminato. Ad esibirsi sulle note musicali ci sarà il corpo di ballo Gens d’Ys, che fin dal 1993 è sinonimo di danza irlandese in Italia, con all’attivo 34 sedi in 30 città italiane e gode da anni del patrocinio dell’Ambasciata Irlandese in Italia, di diversi Ministeri succedutisi negli anni e, dal 2011, di quello dell’Ente Nazionale del Turismo Irlandese, di cui è Testimonial Ufficiale. Sabato 17 giugno alle 20.30 ci sarà il cantautore Lorenzo Monguzzi con il gruppo Folkmiseria con un’esibizione tra musica e spettacolo che, prendendo spunto da una passione per il dialetto adatta alcune tra le canzoni più conosciute del panorama musicale rock americano, oltre alla presenza di musiche e brani inediti. Il concerto sarà preceduto dall’esibizione degli Ogam, formazione marchigiana con all’attivo due produzioni discografiche Li Ma To (1993) dedicata al percorso del grande gesuita maceratese Matteo Ricci e Il regno della Sibilla (2001) ispirata alle leggende dei Monti Sibillini. Domenica 18 giugno alle 11.30 ci sarà la musica dei Talamh, un progetto che unisce tutta l’esperienza sui palchi internazionali di  Caterina Delphine Sangineto (voce e arpa) e Davide Bonacina (chitarra, tin whistle), punto di riferimento del circuito irlandese italiano, con uno dei giovani astri nascenti italiani del violino Irish, Joan Gatti. Il repertorio si snoda da ballate dell’Isola Smeraldo fino a set strumentali, dalle suggestioni dell’arpa fino al suono del gaelico scozzese. Dalle 14 si aprirà il Balfolk Afternoon e sul palco si alterneranno i Ponente Folk Legacy, nati nell’autunno del 2018 dall’incontro di 3 musicisti liguri da anni impegnati nell’ambito della musica folk e tradizionali, i Tribot, che racchiude al suo interno l’esperienza che i suoi componenti hanno accumulato nel mondo del folk e balfolk, e il Jason O’Rourke Trio, del maestro suonatore di concertina di Belfast che torna in Italia per presentare l’ottavo album The Sunny Slide of the Latch, con dieci tracce ispirate allo stile tradizionale irlandese. Savage Bastards #2 Mad Cave Studios 2020 Written by David Galiano Illustrated by Carlos Angeli Lettered by Miguel Angel Zapata     After Sam was shot while they were trying to escape town, Elliot was able to escape to Chief Running Boar's village to recover. Soon after, the Chief recommends a vision quest to help the brothers find their paths.     The first issue certainly showed promise and I am glad to see that what I thought was justified within this issue. I think after getting the initial nerves and jitters out of the way and the practice of sequential story storytelling things seem to be picking up here. Now that the introduction is out of the way we get to see the story really start. Yes I will say there are some jumping issues, as the story jumps here to there without a proper transition but it is much improved. I found myself become more and more involved and invested I the story this issue ant that's a wonderful thing to have happen. David finds a way for the reader to connect with the characters here as we explore who they are. I kind of wish this had been the first issue.     I do like the way that this is being told. The story & plot development that we see through how the sequence of events unfold and how the reader learns information are presented nicely. A few more tweaks that will come with experience and if we keep seeing the improvements from issue to issue like this than watch out Mad Cave is going to haver a great creative team on it's hands. The character development that we see is nice, again a few things are left out that I wish hadn't been. Elliot's tiny moment in the dreamscape was confusing and I wish more attention had been paid to that. After all Sam's journey was a lot more detailed and the time differential could've been more even. The pacing is solid and it takes us through the pages revealing the twists and turns and introduction of the new characters extremely well.     I had high hopes for this one. I love Mad Cave Studios and they've got some incredibly good, strong and diverse books out there. They also support up and coming talent, through their talent search program which I believe is where this comes from. So it is nice to see these folks given a chance and making the most of it. So that this is growing stronger and stronger by the last issue I have a feeling they've have hit that first plateau.     The interiors here are nicely rendered as well. I was hoping to be blown away by the journey they took with that Peyote and I was impress and a tad disappointed. I think this has to do with the backgrounds and how they are underutilised and how we don't see enough variation in the weights of the linework. Trust me the talent and skill are here it just needs a little honing and some experimentation. The utilisation of the page layouts and how we see the angles and perspective in the panels show a marvellous eye for storytelling. I am impressed with how we see depth perception, sense of scale and the overall sense of size and scope to the story. The colour work is great. I love how we see the various hues and tones within the colours utilised to bring out the shading, highlights and shadow work. Also huge shout-out for the eyes throughout the book here because their brightness and their meaning shine bright like a diamond. ​     I like where this book is going and how it is heading there. It brings me back to DC's Western Tales with the likes of Jonah Hex, Firehair and Scalphunter and trust e when I say that this is the kind of storytelling that we've unwittingly needed right now. I love Mad Cave, they are great people, do great work and go above and beyond for the industry and this is a perfect time to peruse their titles and start reading of the fastest growing company in comics.
