hello. sorry for asking out of nowhere, i was just curious. what are your favourite asoiaf theories?
oh anon i love you. i hold you close to me and kiss your nose. a very fun fact about me is that i am a huge HUGE fan of asoiaf theories and go on the subreddit every day bc im insane. ive spent a frankly ridiculous amount of time reading thru this stuff. it’s a problem. but you have come, to the right place
grand northern conspiracy. this one’s just a classic. i take it as fact tbh. if u havent read the GNC whata re you even doing here
other popular normie theories i think are true: r+l=j obviously, sandor is the gravedigger on the quiet isle, sarella=alleras, lyanna was the knight of the laughing tree, aegon is a blackfyre, night lamp
the iron bank and the faceless men are either connected or the same thing. this is why they’ve got arya. well... maybe. bonus points for the god of many faces just being, coin. get it cause. theres lots of faces on. coins. it’s fun
melisandre is the daughter of shiera seastar and bloodraven. i’m kinda ambivalent on this but it wouldnt surprise me
this is illegal because it’s MY theory but satin is the mary magdalene figure to jon’s jesus and will witness the resurrection: change my mind
i’ll link my other one, why not. using comparative mythology to assert that there is no azor ahai reborn, it’s all just fractured histories of the long night. way too complicated, but it’s MY TAKE DAMMIT
i don’t believe everything in the meereenese blot’s take on dany’s arc in adwd but it did help me get my head around it + reanalyze what the hell was going on
okay. this one’s ridiculous but i’m kind of obsessed with it. please god bear with me, i dont believe half of it and it’s WAY too long but: ser shadrich the mad mouse is howland reed (this i genuinely believe). additionally, ser byron is sandor clegane in a glamour and ser morgarth is the elder brother and they’re all gonna rescue sansa from the vale. i don’t.. necessarily believe the last two. or do i? fucking INSANE but also compelling for reasons i cannot comprehend at this time. give it a shot
dont have a writeup but i do think brienne is the younger and more beautiful queen in the valonqar prophecy :)
also i think jon is azor ahai actually except no i dont but i do. but i dont <3 also i think he accidentally became king beyond the wall in adwd so there is that.
also COLDHANDS = DANNY FLINT i’m a truther for this
NOT a theory but you should read poorquentyn’s analyses of tyrion, quentyn and davos in adwd because i said so (they’re good)
also not a theory (sorry) but this analysis of the social contract in asoiaf explained hobbes locke and rousseau better than my philosophy 100 class LOL it’s fun

Scorp you're a genius! So relatable and I love how you don't judge others or anyone who comes to you for help. Keep it up! I just had to ask since I see that you make pop culture references to make analogies with astrology. You've mentioned GoT a few times and im a huge fan! Can you do a quick post on Game of Thrones characters and their potential zodiac signs? I'd love to hear your input! Thank you so much!!
Game of Thrones Characters & Their Zodiac Signs
Aries
Khal Drogo- Impulsive. Warlike. Bloodthirsty. Alpha. Conqueror. Hardcore athlete [did you see him on that horse?] Extremely sexual. Forceful. When he first meets Daenerys, he forces himself on her. Afterward, however, he is the first to go to war if he feels the people around him have been disrespected.
Aerys Targaryen- Impulsive, sadistic. Boastful. imperial. He would be the Emperor [reversed] in Tarot, lol. Not as good with being a tactician as he ought to have been. Cruel. Rage problems. The need to be the first and the best. Fire and blood, anyone?
Taurus
Maergery Tyrell - Classy, wealthy, sexy, laid-back, frank but with an air of elegance. Highgardeners have a love for the finer things in life. A love of fine wines and foods. Beautiful clothing and aesthetics. RICH RICH. Get on their bad side and they will take their time finding a way to subvert your authority.
Robert Baratheon- Love of luxury, bullheaded, strong, takes no shit. Fixed in his opinions of others, highkey jealous. In his youth, he enjoyed the gifts of Venus: Charm, wealth coming from the noble house of Baratheon, widely considered handsome by almost all in the 7 kingdoms.
Gemini
Tyrion Lannister- Silver-tongued. HIGHKEY intelligent. Social. Charming. Great sense of humor. A freak [in the sheets]. Chatty. Always finds his way out of a sticky situation. Finds a way to use his intel to bolster diplomacy between his family and the families who hate them.
Little Finger- Cunning, quick-witted, works behind the scenes, manipulative, a  snake, jack of all trades. Top dog in the social circles of the 7 Kingdoms. There wasn’t a person who didn’t know of him and his... reputation. He singlehandedly, through his Machiavellian tactics, caused the events of Game of Thrones to unfold.
Cancer
Cersei Lannister- Protective, moody, caring [to her kids], motherly, cantankerous, jealous. A savage. People don’t give Cancer’s the credit they deserve in terms of what they’re capable of. Cersei is a prime example of the type of person who can show unrivaled levels of devotion to the one’s they love. “No one matters but us.” She can be cruel because she lets her emotions rule her actions. When her safety is threatened, she makes sure no one else feels safe either. She loves with a ferocity only rivaled by...
Catelyn Stark- Another mother who would die [quite literally] for her children. Fierce, Protective. Doting. JEALOUS. Let’s not forget how she treated Jon all because she believed Ned’s lie about him being a bastard. Followed her son into battle. Damn near lost her hands fighting off Bran’s would-be assassin.
Leo
Jaime Lannister- Proud. Handsome. Princely. Funny. We seem him go from underdeveloped Leo [arrogant, selfish, bully, prideful, snob, loyal to no one but himself] to developed [Kind, helpful, warm, honest]. Fought bears for his friends. Skilled and proud fighter even without the use of both his hands. Unfortunately, his loyalty caused him to stay loyal to his twin towards the end, but such is the nature of a Leo. They’re hard-pressed to abandon those they truly care for.
Brienne of Tarth- LOYAL. Proud. Devoted. A bit of a flare for drama especially brandishing her sword. Brienne is the definition of Leonine traits. Hard to miss. Devoted to those who show her kindness, i.e Renly, Catelyn, Jaime, Sansa, etc. Always at the front lines in war screaming “STAND YOUR GROUND”. Unrivaled levels of bravery and courage. Not to be fucked with. A true Queen.
Virgo
Samwell Tarley- Intelligent. Scholarly. Methodical. Always with his nose in a book. Unproblematic king. Caught the things everyone else missed, especially when he was an apprentice in Old Towne. Figured out how to cure Jorah Mormont’s affliction on his OWN without any formal training. Genius.
Lord Varys- Remember, Virgo is also ruled by Mercury who is the most cunning of the planetary rulers. Varys always had a spy to collect intel on everyone. A tactician. Never lost his temper. Always had the scoop but didn’t partake in gossip for gossip's sake. Not afraid to be critical or tell those “in charge” his opinion. We can see this specifically when he critiques Aerys, Daenerys, and Robert.
Libra
Davos Seaworth- a skilled diplomat. Davos is always seen seeking balance and fairness in the situations he finds himself in. The minute you see this man in a scene you know he’s going to give a moving speech and get someone out fo a sticky situation. He convinced the Iron Bank to support Stannis. Convinced Daenerys to entertain Jon Snow when they traveled to Dragonstone. Always breaking up a fight. He is in full support of law and order, especially when he called for Melisandre’s head after discovering her part in Shireen’s death [RIP.]
Rhaegar Targaryen- Had a love of music. Harmony. Balance. He brought two families together [Stark and Targaryen]. He was also blessed by Venus in my opinion because he was said to be extremely handsome. A fabulous singer. A fighter yes, but a lover first. Very good with diplomacy but not the best with defending himself against his cousin sign, Taurus [Robert Baratheon].
Scorpio
Daenerys Targaryen- Many see her as an Aries but I have to respectfully disagree. Daenerys is a Scorpio in my opinion. Remember, Scorpio is honorary fire. She was literally “reborn from the ashes”. A Phoenix, Scorpio’s final form. She went from a silent and meek girl to a skilled and commanding Empress. Unlike Arians, she did not jump headfirst into battle. It took many arrows in her dragons, many slights to her ego, copious council from her advisors, dozens of her loved ones lost for her to go nuclear. Like her father, she hungered for power, a very Scorpionic trait. However she, unlike her father, listened to reason [Jorah, Tyrion, and Barristan Selmy]. She had a long fuse until she didn’t, and then that’s when she rained fire and blood on everyone in King’s Landing. She was skilled at retribution and was unapologetic with it *cough* the Tarleys *cough*.. Unlike Arians who pop off at the drop of a hat, she gave her enemies fair warning if/when they crossed her.
Arya Stark- You already know what it is with this one. Arya is pretty much death [Pluto], personified. Stealthy. A tactician. VENGEFUL. I think we all fist-pumped when she served Filch Walder Frey his sons in that pie. Never forgets a slight. Keeps a list of people who’ve wronged her [All Scorpios can probably relate]. You never see her coming. She is “no-one”. She is the assassin that slips through the back. She may seem calm at first but trust that she has been planning your downfall for a while. LOYAL. The definition of a Scorpio.
Melisandre- Dark. Mysterious. Unafraid of the occult. So much of her life is unknown and I’m sure that’s how she preferred it. Even her Lord of light was mysterious. Strong supernatural abilities and highkey psychic. Knew immediately how many “eyes” Arya would “close.” Had ties to the underworld which is demonstrated with her ability to resurrect the dead. Came through at the clutch in the last battle wielding fire [Mars] with her witchcraft. It’s no secret that Scorpios are some of the most skilled in sorcery.
Sagittarius
Missandei- Exotic. From Naath which is an island just above the mysterious continent of Sothoryos. A world traveler. Lucky enough to escape slavery [until the end]. Jupiter's influence is here in my opinion because she is so kind and friendly. Also a polyglot and gifted with the ability to speak 19 languages. Her fire is seen at the end of the series when she tells her best friend “Dracarys”-- meaning “fire” in High Valyrian. She isn’t afraid to call wrath down on others.
Olenna Tyrell- Loud, unapologetically blunt, zero-filter, feisty. Olenna to me is the definition of Sagittarius. Always speaks her mind. Clap back queen. Will call you out. Was also quite promiscuous in her younger years. Very charismatic and extremely likable despite her penchant for saying whatever was on her mind.
Capricorn
Tywin Lannister- I can’t see the patriarch of the most notorious family in Westeros being anything other than a Capricorn. Methodical. Structured. Business-minded. Karmic [A "Lannister always repays his debts"] Cold. Cruel. Unfeeling. Like Saturn, he is the father figure. Basically ran the 7 Kingdoms for Aerys, [which was probably why the latter was so salty towards him.] Always has a plan. The man you want in charge if we’re strictly talking about law and order. Vindictive [had the mountain kill Elia because Rhaegar rejected Cersei.] He’s the ultimate son-of-a-bitch.
Jon Snow- Brooding hero that he is, Bae Jon Snow is without a doubt a Capricorn in my eyes. Duty-bound. Serious. A leader in his own right. Could also be cold and unfeeling in terms of distributing karmic justice. Lest we forget the “fetch-me-a-block” situation with Janos Slynt. In addition, the moment he was resurrected he took vengeance against the black brothers who betrayed him. Saturn, Like Pluto, is all about karmic justice. The beating he put on Ramsey after The Battle of the Bastards was one thousand percent a karmic beating. A proper lover as well, according to Ygritte, Jon also knew how to handle himself in the bedroom, a trait very akin to Capricorns.
Aquarius
Bran Stark- I thought about making Bran a Pisces, but then I changed my mind. Remember Uranus rules sudden insights and hardcore psychic receptivity. It also rules sudden and unexpected catastrophes or surprises/ sudden breaks. Bran suffered a literal “tower” moment at the beginning of the series which resulted in his psychic powers developing. Once he became the three-eyed raven, he became very detached from the world.
Grey Worm- Aquarius is also androgynous. Grey Worm is a eunuch. He is always down to fight for a cause though, specifically his queen’s. Cares about others, specifically Missandei, and was seen towards the latter season speaking up for the Unsullied against the slavers. Fierce combatant but also very detached. His job is his job.
Pisces
Jaqen H’ghar- Much like Neptune, Pisces’ ruler Jaqen has a mysterious and illusive personality. He wears “many faces”. Skilled at illusion and very very intuitive. Has a soft side though which is clearly seen with how he treats Arya. Hardly ever flies off the handle. Calm. Cool. Collected.
Hodor- Sweet and gentle giant, Hodor is a Pisces to me. Affected by psychic trauma, it’s revealed why “Hodor” is the only thing he can say. Calm. A bit of a baby. Caring. Easily adaptable [think of all the terrain he carried Bran through]
Eddard Stark- I don't care what anyone says, Ned stark to me represents the most developed form of a Pisces. Like the Hanged-Man in Tarot that represents sacrifice and which Neptune Rules, he willingly sacrificed his reputation as honorable for his sister, Lyanna. He later sacrifices himself for his children when he died at Joffrey’s [little bitch] command. He is wise. Though appears cold, he is actually a well of feeling and caring. Unfortunately, he also suffered from the naivety of Neptunian influence which is why he wasn’t very skilled at the Game of Thrones, which calls for more tactical ruthlessness. Pisceans however also have the rage of Poseidon flowing through their veins [which people like to forget]. This was displayed when he pinned Petyr Baelish to the Wall in King’s Landing for daring to dishonor Cat by inviting her into a Brothel. RIP, King Stark.

gendrya + jonsa au: bastard lords and hidden ladies (part 1)
so, this is very much not the whoooole concept as I practically just switch from Cat!Arya to Alayne!Sansa (this post is basically just Gendrya + Alayne!Sansa, sorry, not even written Jonsa, but I promise the full concept includes happy married!Jonsa (two versions, too, lol)), but I am tired af whilst simultaneously being really pumped that ppl wanted to see this idea so here’s (much of) the longass outline of the thing I posted about earlier:
au wip, a legitimized-boys, secret-identity-sisters canon divergence piece, where: Stannis becomes king (and keeps Gendry alive), Arya accepts Jaqen’s offer to work for a courtesan and Gendry finds her while on business for the Crown, Jon gets legitimized after taking Ramsay down, and Baelish makes a betrothal for Alayne to Gendry that she later basically manipulates Stannis into changing into one with Jon after Gendry and his true love ditched the whole ass crownlands. It’s got a lot of book plot overlap too but I have no true concept of the timeline in terms of when different canon events happened. If you want more of this or have ideas or anything, feel free to share them!
Instead of Gendry having to escape from Stannis, Shireen finds out that her father’s found a cousin of hers - a true one, not one of Cersei’s bastards but one of her uncle’s - and especially with pressure from both her and Davos, Stannis ultimately decides he’ll keep Gendry alive, have him taught to behave properly, how to manage lordly duties, and so on.
Jaqen realizes that Arya may not be perfectly cut out for being Faceless, and makes her an offer - that he could find her employment of a different sort. As he’s noted, she’s taken by the allure of the courtesans, whose jobs include far more than just the sexual duties shared by those who work in brothels.
At first, Arya insists she can get better, but then Mercy!Arya ends up becoming friends with a girl who works on one courtesan’s ship, and after hearing many stories about how the women play instruments and tell stories and sing songs, she decides that perhaps it wouldn’t be the worst thing to try out. She talks to Jaqen, tucks Needle in a belt, and makes friends with Mercy’s friend with her own face, as Cat, and then the friend convinces the courtesan that Cat’s a charming young woman who should come work with them.
Stannis first loses at the Blackwater, but then with assistance from the Iron Bank and much of Westeros, as well as some more magic, he later manages to topple Tommen and take the Throne.
Needing to be sure of where the Crown stood with their Essosi allies, Stannis sends Gendry and Davos to Braavos to speak with the Iron Bank. As the Starks were always so keen to remind everyone, winter was coming.
And, ahem, the men sent with Gendry and Davos certainly intend to as well. And, only naturally, after a couple nights of well-enjoyed brothel trips, some of them decide they all ought to take advantage of their being in Essos and seek out some renowned courtesan as well - they had Westerosi lords and knights, after all, one of whom was in line for the bloody Iron Throne! Surely someone would love to host them!
Spoiler: yes, someone absolutely would. (Especially considering that Robert had quite the reputation - not as a particularly fun partner, but definitely as a man who’d finance the purchasing of a week’s worth of alcohol in two nights and come back to bed every pretty girl an establishment had afterwards.) How many Braavosi courtesans or whores can say they were bedded or courted in any manner by the son of a Westerosi king? Not many.
Contrary to expectations, Cat ends up being one of them, though not so much while they’re in Braavos. And as sweet and reassuring as it is that her friends, her companions in training, are certain that this lord immediately realizes how pretty she is, she knows the moment that Lord Baratheon meets her eyes he can see Arya, buried deep beneath Cat, and when she speaks in response to the courtesan he and his men are visiting, he hears her as well, though she’s glad to see he’s smart enough not to have his shock blatantly on display.
After a couple visits, his men return to the brothels, the enchantment of listening to old songs more lost on them than the enjoyment of fucking - but Gendry keeps coming to the barge, even though it’s only him and his uncle’s Hand at that point, and after a couple nights of only them, trading stories with the women and listening to songs in languages that have barely been heard since Westeros’ common became, well, common, he actually asks to have time with only Cat.
And of course, the parts of them that are closest to the Arya and Gendry they once were have an awkward but heartfelt reunion - but the parts of them that have grown up are acutely aware of how different they are, how different their places are. Still, he’s not surprised she became an assassin, and she’s not surprised he doesn’t enjoy the vast majority of what’s involved in being at court. They don’t share everything, but they share quite a bit, almost falling back into the sort of friendship they’d thrived off having. On following nights they talk more about things - about Shireen, about the Hound, about the Red Woman, even a bit about King’s Landing girls and Braavosi dockworkers.
It takes a couple more nights, but after a while she decides to remind him that, while it’s not something guaranteed simply by seeking out a courtesan, he is allowed to bed her. (With permission from her employer, of course, as payment and whatnot would be arranged, but…it’s him, her friend, grown and handsome, so Arya doesn’t mind giving the suggestion.)
He asks, though, what would be the cost just to kiss her. For all the time she’s spent learning people, especially men, it’s embarrassing to be caught off guard as she is, but she manages to gather herself and say that it would depend on who he intends to be telling. She doesn’t really let him consider that, though, not the first night, because she simply does kiss him.
They don’t explicitly tell people they’ve started kissing, but they’re terrible enough at hiding their affections that they’re quickly the talk of their respective social groups. Everyone among them, and probably others who view the barge consistently, knows that he keeps coming back, after all…until their few weeks in Braavos are coming to an end, at least, Iron Bank negotiations and all other necessary business of the Crown having been handled.
But then, before Arya’s really made to think about the fact that he found her on the other side of the world and inched closer and closer to becoming a lover only to have to leave her again, Gendry asks her to leave with him. He can’t give her back her home or her family, but if nothing else they can live safely, together - and more than that, he simply wants not to leave her, ever. From what he’s said of his own family, she doesn’t imagine she’ll get a warm welcome, but she can’t stand the idea of him leaving her either, so she packs up what few belongings Cat has and says farewell to her friends, and to Braavos.
Other than the scandal of her coming with, none of the men seem to think much of her taking a place in his cabin. It’s there that he ultimately decides he’s free enough to bed her for the first time. They’ve not yet made it to King’s Landing by the time he realizes he’s completely and irrevocably in love with her.
Arya’s mainly right to think she won’t get a warm welcome; both Stannis and Selyse almost immediately denigrate Gendry for following his father’s path, the path of foolish men, for what kind of lord openly brought a whore to their castle? She’s not actually a whore, he cares to remind them, even though it stokes the fire of the fury. He has his own to match Stannis, though, and it’s clear and it’s spectacular in its own way. So, too, does Shireen - lovely, kind Shireen who’s so happy for the prospect of a friend that she again begs her father on Gendry’s behalf, and reluctantly, Stannis allows Cat to remain, with some strict guidelines, many of which Arya has no complaints about meeting.
Up North, though, Jon has heard about Arya’s marriage to Ramsay, and decides to reach out to Stannis for help on the matter, help of some sort, any sort. It’s not immediately granted, especially as Jon is already asking for Other help, but ultimately, Stannis starts to consider it. Ramsay was only ruling in the North because of a series of betrayals against those who would rightfully rule it - if the last known living child of Ned Stark, a man who died for speaking the truth of Stannis’ claim and denouncing Cersei’s bastards, was asking for help, to save his family, was it not Stannis’ duty to give it?
He does decide that having Jon as an ally is his best move, and begrudgingly he sends some troops North with Davos and Melisandre, to assist Jon’s wildlings in taking back Winterfell. The Night’s Watch doesn’t all take kindly to the Lord Commander’s priorities, but by the time mutiny drags down Jon Snow, Melisandre is in residence at Castle Black and she brings him back, having seen him at battle at Winterfell in her flames, knowing it needs to follow.
He takes Stannis’ sent men and his wildlings and begins to march south, only for a broken Theon to bring to him Sansa’s friend Jeyne, whose identity Theon had hid so that she could be believed to be Arya. The battle is hard-won, but they win it still, and Stannis gives him his father’s name for the victory, but it’s hollow.
Hollow, too, is the love promised to sweet Alayne, whose false father seeks out his best excuses to wed her to the highest bidder, a title claimed all too soon by the king and queen, part of their plan to change the behavior of the king’s nephew and part of Petyr’s plan to return to power in King’s Landing. A bastard lord for a bastard lady - to Stannis that’s like to sound fair, but to Sansa, it’s everything but. She’s learned to pay attention to whispers and rumors, and with this…Petyr intends to mold her into Cersei, it nearly seems. A Baratheon with a temper and a love, and he’d have Alayne marry him, if only to return to seeking the power of the crown. She knows he’d been speaking with Lord Bolton, which still boils her blood even now that she knows it wasn’t her sister who had been made to be his poor wife - she’d doubted it always, especially with the recollection of how Arya had once raised her own sword even to Joffrey - but he still will drag her back to residence in King’s Landing rather than let her go home…unless she can work something out with her betrothed, and perhaps she can.
Not that he intends to give her the chance, though - the moment that Stannis informs him of the betrothal is a bigger, louder fight than they’ve ever had. Stannis might be king, but he owns Gendry no more than he ever could his brothers, and Cat even less, and he won’t be allowed to forget it. There’s a ship bound for Braavos in the bay, and soldiers intended to take her to it, soldiers who are meant to grab her from Gendry’s chambers while she’s alone there and escort her so that he doesn’t get a say.
Stannis, though, doesn’t know that only some parts of any woman are soft, and Gendry’s the only man with rights to ask for any of her softness. Even without real context she knows the soldiers are only obeying their king, so Arya focuses on injury and little more, rushing down underneath the castle, down where she’d ran when Syrio had told her to do so. And, as if by magic - perhaps, actually, by magic, for she wouldn’t know - Ser Davos finds her. He takes her to a dusty corner, hands her a wine skin and one of Cat’s other dresses, and tells her to wait for him to come back…and so she does.
She waits until the entire area is getting dark, only the trail of the sun and no lanterns or sconces to show her the possible way out, and holds tight to Needle until after the sun is set and he scurries back to her, Gendry at his side, rushing to her like never before. Davos has given him clothes that once had belonged to a son of his, and grabbed them some food.
They make it out of the city on a ship manned by one of Davos’ other sons, a trade ship headed for the Riverlands - straight for Hot Pie, as far as they’re concerned. Arya might cry, in part from feeling terribly anxious and in better part because he’s so terribly kind.
Alayne and her father arrive in their carriage a few days later, to a very apologetic royal party, and Alayne spends much of her first days back in the city thinking how horribly fed up she is with men for all their machinations. Princess Shireen, though, is very clear that while it’s a pity someone was hurt by it, her cousin is deeply in love, and in their private company she calls her father foolish for thinking he could ever sway him. It’s so very Sansa of her, that Sansa herself is easily swayed to their side, though she knows Petyr is having much more difficulty accepting the rejection.
It’s all very much a lovely love story to Sansa, though, as it is to Shireen, and Alayne bonds with the princess easily. She even enjoys Shireen’s stories about this woman Cat, and finds herself wanting to know more and more, especially as she realizes that in a way she has taken the other woman’s place, just in Shireen’s life as a friend as opposed to in her cousin’s. Stannis and Selyse, though, really do stew in their displeasure. Petyr does a better job of hiding his, but she knows that’s only because his intentions are about power and not family, let alone love.
Then, one day, about a fortnight after their arrival, Stannis mentions a part of the plan she’d been unaware of, one she might be able to use.
He wanted to secure the Vale support so that he could support Jon - Jon Stark, now, newly legitimized Lord Stark, warden of the north, the man who had beaten down House Bolton but needed more of his king’s support to fight a larger, more pressing battle, one against the dead, one for the living. As Petyr says, the details make it sound like madman’s words, but King Stannis has magic on his council and more importantly, this was Jon, and Jon was…Jon. Surely if he declared that the dead could be raised by some unnatural force and made to fight the living, he was speaking the truth of it.
She confronts Petyr in private - had the Vale not already been sworn to House Stark? He disagrees, cautiously - House Arryn had been truly bound by House Tully, and Jon had no Tully to speak of.
“Jon Arryn, my uncle, fostered my father, Jon’s father. He called his banners against House Targaryen in defense of Rickard Stark and his children, and Jon is as much Ned Stark’s son as Robb or Bran or Rickon, no matter where your loyalties lie.”
“Your cousin -”
“My cousin trusts his beloved stepfather not to mislead him,” she finishes, proud that she can see in his eyes how the remark wounds him, and then she takes a walk to the godswood to get her head around her situation.
She wounds Petyr again the next day, by bringing to court a proposal of a marriage between her and Jon - she prefaces by saying that she and her father had spoken of it, just gently enough that no one would doubt her, for Lord Baelish keeps his expression so very static, his surprise just barely visible to even an educated viewer. It’s a good offer, to Stannis, and on the surface it’s good for Petyr as well, though no one would say it’s better than putting his future grandchild in the line of succession for the Iron Throne.
Stannis, though, is perhaps realizing he’s glad to have removed a contender from his line, and he’s quick enough to agree to write to Lord Stark with little more than Petyr’s confirmation that the Vale would give its strength in this war of Jon’s.
Petyr makes his displeasure known, but Sansa is sure enough that Jon will side with her that he agrees not to raise a fuss. She knows she’s made the potential error of keeping either of them from an heir, but if it allowed her to go home with her brother, she’d manage what she had to manage.
Jon, too, agrees, surprised for an offer but happy for it all the same, writing back to Stannis days before he’s actually set to leave for Dragonstone to mine dragonglass on the island, another part of their deal. Jon would remain the ever-vigilant guard of the realm, and Stannis would provide him what he needed to hold such a position well - that was how Ser Davos had said it.
They could figure out heritage when this great war was won.

Just wanted to say thar your "i don't have love here" edit is absolutely amazing.what did you think of the episode?
Thank you! Although I’m sad now because I could’ve added the Dothraki, but when I was adding Jorah actually dying, I forgot cos it was too dark so I went to the next episode LOL
But thank you!
I really liked the episode here are some of my thoughts:
For the episode as a whole, this last week I was 100% on the “burn KL” bandwagon, but that was too much. Like it went bad fast. I didn’t expect that much damage. It was very sad to see the reactions of people in the city, Jon, Davos, Arya, Tyrion. Too see everything they’ve wanted just crumble literally to ash.
Here’s some thoughts on the characters:
Sandor - very sad about his death. I really like the convo he had with Arya about becoming him. Like his entire life was filled with rage and that lead him to lead a very lonely life. So sad he died in fire though.
Arya - I am glad she made it out alive, but I’m more glad that she wasn’t the one to kill Cersei!
Jon - I feel so bad for him. He chose Dany’s side and watch Varys be executed and I think on the scene where the sound was low and you could just hear him breathing, I think that was when he realized he did choose the wrong side. We know Jon has never wanted to be a leader at all, his whole life he’s been the “second” tier. I think it’s safe to say that he will probably end up on the throne.
Varys - Just want to say real quick, that I’ve seen a lot of people saying that his “men choose power” comment was like sexist, but I’m pretty sure he meant like “man kind”. Like the people choose who they want to lead, and it’s obvious people are choosing Jon. He wasn’t a fave of mine, but it was sad to see him go.
Cersei / Jamie - I am so glad that Cersei died. I wanted to her to suffer a worse fate, because imo, dying in Jamies arms was the best way to die for her. I really wanted him to kill her because, once again, I was on the bandwagon of “he loves Brienne and is going to KL to kill Cersei and said mean things to Brienne because he knew Dany would burn KL down”. So I was very sad to see that he would always love Cersei. I think that acting from Lena was the once of her best performances for GoT. Like he going from denial thinking the scorpions and Iron Fleet were going to save them and the fear finding out that Dany was winning and then her really crying trying to escape. I don’t like Cersei at all. I wanted her death to come like 4 seasons earlier, but Lena did amazing. As for Jamie, in the words of Tyra Banks “WE WERE ALL ROOTING FOR YOU! HOW DARE YOU!”
Euron - finally. Wanted Jamie or Cersei to tell him he was never a King and was never going to be a father though.
Grey Worm - I am most disappointed in him. Even if Dany hadn’t gone mad, he really was the start of the massacre, because that’s what it was. The battle of KL went from just that, a battle. Dany won, and when she started burning down the place, the soldiers could have saved hundreds of people, like Jon and the Winterfell soldiers tried to do. I get 100% that he wanted to avenge Missandei, but Missandei’s entire life was filled with fear and hatred and that’s exactly what Grey Worm and Dany put KL through. If they would have stopped when the KL guard laid their weapons down, THAT would have been the vengeance Missandei would have wanted. They finally won what they had been fighting for this entire time.
Dany - Okay so before I start I want to say that Dany is my fave, I’m part of @targaryensource for Daenerys, so don’t send me any hate pls lol. Okay  also before I start, I want to also say that I am 100% here for Mad Daenerys and that’s mostly because I have never been the viewer to want things to “change” or fit my views, ofc I have my own opinions and wants from shows, but I take the shows as they are!
So let’s start with the bells, I DO NOT think the sound of bells is what turned Dany mad, she didn’t her the dingle and was like ???!!! I think it’s what they represented and what that meant to her. Let’s start with her early life, her and Viserys spent their lives alone, their entire life, they had nothing. They were in hiding. I didn’t like Viserys but if we take into account why he was the way he was, then we can understand. Dany was the same, she feared Viserys and him releasing the “dragon”. Then she was forced to marry Drogo, and she fell in love with him and that was the first thing that was “hers” that she lost. She also lost her brother, and even though he was an abuser, that’s one of the only people she had.
Then she had the dragons. I don’t think she was so naive that she wouldn’t kill, but I think her killing that witch in order to bring the dragons was a big step for her character. So throughout the seasons she raised the dragons, and we can guess that she spent a lot of alone time, sitting by the fire with those dragons. Then two of them were murdered in front of her.
Skip to Jorah and Missandei, I could write an entire book on their relationship with Dany, but we know and once again, she lost something she never had before, love and friendship.
My timeline is all over the place but let me add in finding out her father really was this “mad king” and an overall terrible person. Finding out that her brother wasn’t the monster they mad him out to be. Those, good or bad, for her must have been devastating because again all she probably had growing up was her thoughts and memories of what they had / should have had.
I don’t want to really get into Jon x Dany, but I will say that the thought of her losing what she was raised her whole life believing was rightfully hers to someone she loved was also a big deal. He didn’t want it, but I think Varys said it right when he said  “men choose”. Seems like every group Jon comes into contact with choose him over Dany, and she’s noticed. I don’t think it has anything to do with him being a man. Like look at Cersei, she’s had men, but she’s always in power. I think it’s because of who he is and what he’s been through. Everyone knows of the Starks and when Eddard and Robb both have done for Westeros, and specifically the North, so Jon is the next, even though he’s always been “the bastard”.
So I think that it wasn’t the jingle of bells that set her off, I think it was the thought of everything she had lost, now the people that essentially took it from her (not the people as individuals, but KL as the capital, as the symbolism) are giving up, but it’s still not enough.
Now don’t get me wrong, obviously she killed probably thousands of people due to hatred, BUT I’m just saying that her entire life she’s only ever had a handful of people care for her unconditionally, and even more recent, shown the unconditional loyalty to not only her cause, but to her. And I think that’s what sent her off, the bells signaling surrender, but that isn’t enough to make up for what she lost.
I’ve literally told all my GoT friends (literally two lol) that my wishes for the end is when Dany had that “dream” (vision?) when she was in the throne room, but left the throne and went to her baby and Drogo… remember that snowy scene? I want that to be re-done, but maybe like how everyone’s saying Jon kills her, like if Jon stabs her, and she stumbles into the throne room, and it’s not snow this time, it’s ashes and right as she touches the arm of the throne, she falls in front of the throne and dies. LOL that would be IT.
Okay so those are my thoughts, and like I said, I’m here for Mad Daenerys, I’m not one to make a fuss over shows, so I can fully appreciate and enjoy the series, even s8. I love it, I got the main things I’ve wanted so far, Cersei dying, Euron dying and since we won’t be getting Dany as queen, I’ll be happy with Jon.

GoT Afterthoughts 7x04 The Spoils Of War (Jonsa Edition) SPOILERS
Ugh ...so much drama with the leaking of this episode. It was extremely hard to keep myself unspoiled, but I managed (mostly). I know a lot of you have been waiting for this recap, so let's get down to business .....
Wow. This episode felt so rushed! For the life of me, I will never understand D&D's logic for cutting this season and the next short, for all the content they need to cram into them.
So, with that being said, we start this weeks episode off in High Garden (or is it Highgarden?). The Lannister and Tarly soldiers have cleaned out High Garden's riches and food supply and have a caravan headed back to Kings Landing. Jamie gives Bronn his big bag of gold because "a Lannister always pays his debts" but Bronn still wants his castle. lol After poking fun at Jamie's sour mood despite their victory, Bronn goes with Lord Tarly and Dickon to assist in getting the rest of the harvest. Winter is here, and food is needed.
Side note: I love Bronn. Jamie and Tyrion should totally adopt him when this is all over.
Back in Kings Landing, Cersei is again meeting with the Iron Bank dude, who's happy to continue supporting her ventures, as long as they get their money. She assures him his gold is on the way.
We head to Winterfell (yay!) where LF is busy being fucking creepy, as usual. He gives Bran the dagger that the cutthroat tried to use to assassinate him in the first season. He proceeds to blow smoke up Bran's ass about how he will always protect Cat's children and blah blah blah, sweet Jesus Petyr, we are tired of hearing the same lame shit come out of your mouth! (at least, I am). He tells Bran it's the dagger that essentially started the war of the 5 Kings and that in a way, it made him what he is today.
Some very interesting things I gleaned from this scene:
When Bran asks him if he knows who it belonged to -I believe this was a rhetorical question. I think Bran knows exactly who it belonged to.
LF is shook when he says the word chaos and Bran claps back with "chaos is a ladder." Mmhmm.
That is the weapon LF will die by. Without a doubt. (and it's sweet poetic justice).
"I'm not Lord Stark" -another reminder that Sansa is the heir to Winterfell, as Bran will probably slip further into his 3ER role until that's all he is and Bran no longer exists.
Meera interrupts. She wants to go home and see her family before the Others come. Meera is hurt by how cold and distant Bran is after all she sacrificed for him, and Bran confirms what I said last week -he's NOT Bran anymore. The more he hones his powers, the more the parts of him that are Bran will disappear -which is why he's so void of emotions. It's not trauma (although he's been through and seen some pretty traumatic shit), it's just the part of him that was Bran is literally dying as the 3ER takes over.
And Arya is home!!!!! Omg omg omg!!!
What is it with poor Arya and gate guards keeping her out? Okay, just seeing Arya's face as she glances around Winterfell and looks at the banner -it made me so emotional, my husband laughed at me. He's a dick, what can I say?
The guards let Sansa know about the girl at the gate, and how she's gone now, and once Sansa hears who the girl asked for, she knows it's really Arya and exactly where to find her. She heads to the crypts and there's Arya in front of Ned's statue.
This was a beautiful reunion! I know it wasn't nearly as emotional as Sansa and Jon's -and frankly, I don't think any of them are going to be, and I believe that's intentional, but for the Stark sisters -it suited them, and who they are, and who they've become. There's no hate or animosity here ...they even tease each other a bit, and it's just so lovely and ashgdhjxugyfkcufyskfjcjcaa I AM SO EMOTIONAL!!!!! And we got not just one hug, but two!!! TWO!!!! I said before that D&D had better make this reunion worth while, and for me, they delivered. I love how Arya said that their stories aren't over yet.
A few things that stood out to me in this scene:
Arya telling Sansa that being Lady Stark suited her. I'm not sure this is foreshadowing or just Arya giving her sister some kudos. Either way, it warmed my heart.
Sansa bringing up Jon, and not only how excited he was about her reunion, but how thrilled he'll be to see Arya too -this served two purposes: Sansa again, bringing up Jon at a time she feels vulnerable/safe, and at the same time validating Arya and how important she is to Jon.
Arya mentions her kill list, and Sansa thinks she's joking.
Sansa tells Arya that Bran is home too, and we head out into the Godswood. No matter how unemotional Bran is, it's beautiful to see my Starklings all together in one place again! ❤️ My heart literally grew three times its size!
After a brief hug, Bran tells Arya that he saw her at the crossroads and that he thought she'd go to Kings Landing. Sansa offers that Bran has visions now, and Bran says that Cersei is on her list of names. The look on Sansa's face puzzled me for a minute -because she looks a bit worried, but then she kind of smirks a bit when she asks Arya who else is on her list. Now, I think that the writers want us to think that Sansa suspects she *might* be on that list, but I'm telling you now that's utter bullshit. Lady Stark has taken over her new role in every aspect and that includes mothering her two younger siblings. I believe her look comes more from a parental place of worrying, and I bet the next few episodes will prove me right -ahem, did I not call the whole Bran is no longer Bran thing last week? Thank you.
As Bran pulls out the dagger and gives it to Arya, this only further confirms my feelings. Immediately, Sansa is suspicious. Why? Because she knows LF better than anyone, and she knows he doesn't do anything that won't benefit himself. I suspect she is both worried for her siblings, and thinks LF is trying to sway Bran into taking the Lordship so that he can ask for Sansa's hand in marriage while Jon's away. It's the only thing that makes sense to me in regards to LF visiting Bran earlier in the episode. I also think this is all more fodder for fake ass Starkbowl too -to confuse the viewers.
Some things that stood out in this scene:
Bran gives the dagger to Arya. Arya is going to be the one who kills LF -Bran knows, he's seen it, and that's why he gives the dagger to her.
My heart -when he says it's wasted on a cripple and Sansa looks down sadly.
Okay, our Starklings are headed back within Winterfell, and OMG my heart is exploding! And Brienne's heart, too! Podrick tells her she kept her vow to Catelyn and she should be proud, and you can tell that she's not used to being complimented. As usual, LF is creeping in the shadows like the human embodiment of a bloodsucking tick.
Another side note: Podrick is also a precious dewdrop! Put him in the same category with Davos.
Now we're at Dragonstone ..dun dun dunnn. Sigh, well come on, let's get it over with. We start this scene with Missandei insinuating that GW kissed the kitty and Jon interrupts them from below to bring Dany into a cave. Well, how clever. *eyeroll* I mean, you seriously have to laugh at that.
Jon wants to show Dany the dragon glass before they begin mining it, and it is quite lovely. Jon tells her he wants to show her something else, and the two of them head farther into the cave alone. Cramped quarters, and Dany seems winded from the walk up, because she's literally panting. Wtf??
Tumblr media
Maybe the airs really thin?
Jon explains that the hieroglyphics on the walls are from the Children of the forest, and Dany seems awed to be standing in the same place. She passes the torch by some stick figures resembling the Children and the first men, and Jon narrates how they fought together against the common enemy, as her torch falls on the drawings of the WW's.
Ummm ........ no?
I mean, I'm pretty sure the Children made them to kill the first men originally, right? But Jon doesn't know that, and he needs Dany on his side, so go ahead and improvise Jonny baby. 😉
Now, I'm assuming that this scene was meant to be romantic because of the sudden romantic music playing in the background and the open stares between them in the soft torchlight. Kit's doing that soft half puppy/half fuck me stare, as Dany sashays slowly towards him.
"I will fight for you. I will fight for the north. When you bend the knee."
Annnnnnd there goes Jon's erection. If he had one ... hahahahah! He tells her again that he can't, and then Dany drops the BIGGEST hypocrite bomb EVER - "aren't his people more important than his pride?" Really? No seriously, REALLY? Who's prideful here? Someone get that girl a mirror because she has some serious soul searching to do!
But here's the thing -I went into this scene expecting to be beat over the head with romance tropes and vibes (according to what I've seen you all post over the last few days) and I truly didn't see/feel it. It's not that I didn't want to ... I was really actually trying to, but I felt more like they were once again trying to show us a juxtaposition on who these two people really are.
They emerge from the cave and Tyrion and Varys have good and bad news -they've got Casterly Rock ...but not really. Naturally, Dany is pissed. She demands that Jon and Davos remain while she has her tantrum. She implies that Tyrion is working against her, then gazing ominously out to sea at her Dragons says she's going to fly them to the Red Keep. When Tyrion advises her against it, she asks Jon's opinion. He doesn't want to be involved but she insists.
Jon gives her really good advice, actually. He tells her to BE DIFFERENT. He tells her to be what her people think she is, and not just more of the same shit they're used to. He tells her not to use her Dragons.
Now we're back to Winterfell and Brienne is training Podrick again. Where's Brienne's cheerleader, Tormund? I half expected him to pop out from behind a wagon with heart eyes. lol  Arya wants to train with Brienne -she obviously admires her, and I ship them -my new brotp. 😍
They quick shoot up to Sansa and LF on the battlements and the grain is brought up again. Food is a big theme in this episode, as it's mentioned in the beginning with Jamie, Dany also mentions feeding her army during her tantrum, and now Sansa, too.
She stops in mid sentence to watch what's unfolding below with Arya and Brienne. She gets a worried look and side eyes LF when Arya mentions Brienne swore to serve both of Cat's daughters (again, more writers bait to instill fake mistrust between the sisters -it's more likely that Sansa mistrusts LF and what's currently motivating him).
This fight scene is AMAZING! Two strong, beautiful women -individually talented in their own ways ...this is the shit I live for!!! Arya looks and moves strikingly like Jon (before he took on Ned's persona) -(wo)man bun and all!
Again, Sansa with her odd looks, and her side-eyeing of LF ...they are laying it on thick.
Also, Gendry better watch out -Podrick's got some serious heart eyes for Arya.
We head back to Dragonstone, and Davos and Jon are strolling the grounds (aren't you supposed to be mining, mofo???). Again, I'm going to break away from everyone on the romance vibes here -I think that Davos is being facetious. When he asks Jon what he thinks of Dany, he never tells us what he feels, and when Jon says "she has a good heart", Davis replies with "yeah, I've noticed you've been staring at her good heart", implying that Jon's been looking at her tits. Where's the romance in that? That's not love -that's physical attraction. Let's not mix the two just yet.
Jon immediately rebuffs Davos with -"There's no time for that" the convo switches gears to the NK and how many men they've got up north. And then Davos jumps back to "good hearts" deliberately and LOUDLY, as they approach Missandei. This seems odd to me ... I've already speculated that Jon may go undercover lover on Dany as he did to Ygritte, and many have disagreed with me -but I kind of feel like that might be what they are setting up here ...
Missandei greets them "Ser Davos, Lord Snow" -and immediately Davos puts the brakes on that shit, "it's King Snow, or is it King Jon?" (I love Davos).  We go over the concept of bastard, which leads to how Missandei got to be an advisor to Dany. And here again, I feel is another play on words to show how distrustful of Dany both Jon and Davos are (yet managed to fool everyone into thinking it's ringing romance bells and trying to convince Jon how precious the D is) -Davos reminds her that she's still "serving" Dany (reminiscent of what the Masters in Meereen said to GW) as to which Missandei replies that she does it freely. Jon is skeptical (and really, so am I) and asks if she wanted to leave and sail home to Narth tomorrow ...? Missandei is insistent that Dany would drop her on a boat and wish her good fortune.
Jon (still skeptical): "you believe that?"
Ohhh, he struck a nerve. Missandei very passionately declares "she knows it" and says that all who followed her (Dany) from Essos followed her because they believe in Dany and chose her as queen (ya know, except for those who didn't). Davos says "would you forgive me if I switch sides?" And again, I can't help thinking  how deliberate that line is -Davos is smart and he's a good talker (as shown throughout the entire series), and I really feel like he's playing them. I could be wrong, but my gut is really just telling me that something is off here.
Ahhh, and the scene I've been waiting for that conveniently comes after all this fake Dany romance BS -a Greyjoy ship is spotted just off the coast! Props to both my boys here, because they played up the tension and emotional angst nicely. Jon moves forward slowly, and then Theon too.
T: Sansa ....she alright?
The minute her name is on Theon's lips, Jon's chest begins to heave and he lunges forward and grabs Theon by the front of his shirt, vehemently stating that "what you did for her is the only reason I'm not killing you."
WOOT WOOT the murder kitten strikes again! Kit is sooooo good with these emotional facial scenes, my God! Do any of you really doubt this ship????
Jon is fucking in love with Sansa -it is so clearly evident that when he realizes his Starkcest is showing, he abruptly releases Theon, and shoves him away -just in time to zoom in on Davos, and guys -HE KNOWS! DAVOS KNOWS!!!
He (Davos) cleverly shifts the subject to Theon's fleet and Yara. Euron's got her. Theon asks where Dany is and they inform him she's not there.
We jump back over to Jamie and his troops. They are finishing gathering up the harvest (food again) and Lord Tarly suggests flogging any slackers. Jamie is against this -the writers emphasizing yet again that he's a good man/leader -which is emphasized FURTHER when he chats with Dickon about his feelings on his first battle. Dickon admits it was hard killing people he literally grew up with, and Jamie shows empathy -"they didn't deserve to die, but Lady Olenna decided to support the Targaryen girl, so here we are". Jamie may have been a great warrior, but he despises killing innocents, and in essence, that's what a lot of these soldiers are -men forced to fight for the ones who rule them, with really no say in the matter. The scene with Arya and the Lannister soldier boys makes so much more sense now.
A side note: Bronn literally laughed out loud at Dickon's name! lmao
Bronn and Jamie hear hoofbeats, the Dothraki army is coming, and sure enough, Dany's leading them on Drogon. Now, I've seen people's thoughts on this scene floating around Tumblr for days (TAG YOUR SPOILERS lol), but I was NOT prepared for how visually horrifying it truly was.
Another very important side note: the Khaleesi theme song that's usually played for most of Dany's inspiring scenes, has been given a VERY ominous twist. Go back and listen. It's an important detail that many of you might have missed. 😉
The Lannister army scrambles to make a barrier of shields and Dany literally blows them away, ordering Drogon to dracarys the shit out of them. The Dothraki break through, and while they're keeping the soldiers busy, Dany rides Drogon up the wagon line, literally torching all the wagons filled with food! WTF??
They have the giant crossbow with them, and Jamie tells Bronn he has to wield it, because you need two hands. Probably thinking that he doesn't get paid well enough for this bullshit, Bronn races for the weapon, but a Dothraki develops a hard-on for him and gives chase through the burning camp. Bronn loses his horse and his gold, but makes it to the weapon.  Finally riding himself of his Dothraki admirer, he searches the smoke filled sky for Drogon, as Tyrion looks down at the carnage from an overlooking cliff. He has what I perceive to be a regretfully sad/shocked face, as equally sad music plays in the background. The Dothraki warrior beside him comments that "his people can't fight".
They zoom in on Jamie watching the soldiers around him burning to death, and then Drogon reappears and is headed straight for him. He yells for his men to take cover, as Bronn releases an arrow and just barely misses the dragon. He reloads, as Dany zeroes in on him, ordering dracarys as Bronn lets the next arrow fly and it hits Drogon under the wing, I think? Drogon is injured, but recovers just in time to stop in front of the weapon and bathe him in fire, as Bronn dives out of harms way.
Drogon lands and smashes the weapon with his tail, and Dany dismounts to pull the spear from him. Jamie sees an opportunity to take Dany out, and like a gallant knight, races towards her, while Tyrion watches from the cliff, pleading for him not to do it. NOT because he cares about Dany -no, his fear is all for his brother here, I'm sure of it.
Unfortunately, Dani and Drogon see him before he gets close enough, and dracarys again -but Bronn leaps out and knocks Jamie off his horse and they both fall into the water and sink below the surface.
The episode ends with Jamie in heavy armor, sinking like a rock to the bottom of the lake.
No guys, Jamie is not dead. Bronn isn't wearing heavy armor and Bronn will save him. I promise. Jamie's story isn't over yet -he's got a very important role to play in the coming battle ....
A few things to point out that should have been glaringly obvious:
Dany didn't take Jon's advice. If any of you have any doubts on dark!dany, you can toss them out the window -this episode was in NO WAY intent upon bathing her in a good light.
Tyrion is going to jump sides really soon -and probably Varys, too.
Dany just burned most -if not ALL of the harvest, and now we understand the emphasis on food this episode, and the parallel of Sansa who, ya know -actually gives a fuck about feeding her people.
I have more thoughts on this episode that I'll share tomorrow, but I know you've all been waiting for this a long time. What can I say? I'm thorough, I'm sorry! Thanks for tuning in, and I'll see you next week with more GoT Afterthoughts.

GOT Recap: The Queen’s Justice
Airdate:  7/30/17
Season 7, Episode 3
Hell hath no fury like Cersei on the warpath and this week she was certainly on a ROLL! Lots of great stuff happened in the latest episode, including a much-anticipated meeting between two of my favorite characters.  And we even had some rare moments of comedic relief.  Game of Thrones is picking up some major speed, so let’s hop right onto the crazy train and get this recap of “The Queen’s Justice” started!
Tumblr media
So, um…I’m Kind of a Big Deal
Huzzah! Rather than make us all wait for the big Daenerys/Jon Snow meet-up, we start right off the bat with the good stuff:  Jon Snow arrives at Dragonstone along with his trusty advisor, Ser Davos, and they are greeted at the shore by Missandei and Tyrion.  Jon and Tyrion give each other a good-natured hello along the lines of “Hey, Bastard! lol” -”Yo, Dwarf. rofl”. [Side note: I was really hoping for one of those pregnant pauses where they just look at each other seriously and then say “C’mere, you!!” and embrace in a big, friendly bro hug.  This didn’t happen. Color me disappointed.]   Missandei kindly asks them to surrender all their weapons, because even though they’ve heard how cool Jon is, one can never be too careful when returning from exile to dethrone the current monarch. Foreign Invader Strategies 101, y’all.
Tumblr media
On the long, meandering walk up to the castle (which, it must be said, is really quite scenic), Tyrion notes that Jon made a bold move showing up at Dragonstone to meet with Queen Dany, especially since Stark men haven’t fared too well with Targaryens in the past - to which Jon replies he’s not a Stark - oh if only he KNEW!!! As if on cue, one of Dany’s enormous dragons appears out of nowhere and swoops over them, flying off into the distance. It startles the bejesus out of Jon and Davos as they stop, drop, and cover. For their sake, I really hope they get to put on a change of clothes before meeting Dany.
Tumblr media
Much higher up the path, we see Melisandre looking down at Jon Snow, when Varys creeps up.  He questions why she was so keen to have Jon visit, and yet, is hiding away.  Mel keeps things vague and only lets on that mistakes were made on her part and she’s ready to head back to Volantis.  Varys tells her to stay there, but she tells him she must return one day with the cryptic phrase “I must die in this strange country, just like you.” They both share a meaningful look.  Wait, what?  What is going on here?!  Do these two have some kind of history together, or just lots of intel on each other? It’s all very mysterious and now I’m intrigued.
Tumblr media
On to Dany’s throne room! Missandei introduces Daenerys to her visitors, rattling off the long list of titles Dany has.  When it’s time for Jon’s intro, Ser Davos is all “This is Jon Snow.”  Jon looks at him like “Duuuuuude! Come ooooooon, I’m trying to make an impression here!” Davos adds “He’s the king in the North”. It’s a strained meeting to say the least - Right out the gate, Dany  comes on strong with her claim to the throne, citing there is no “King in the North”, seeing how the North is one of the kingdoms that belongs to the ruler on the Iron Throne. She demands that Jon swear his loyalty to her, citing that time when an ancient Stark ancestor made a fealty agreement with a Targaryen that spans forever ever (forever, ever?! Yeah.  Forever ever).  Jon is like “Nah, I’m good, let’s talk about snow zombies”…which really goes over well. Dany gets all puffed up saying that Jon will be in open rebellion to her if he won’t bend the knee. In Jon’s defense, they are all running out of time and he can’t be fighting a war for Dany.  But Tyrion points out, that the fight for the throne has already begun and they can’t just channel their inner Zack Morris and call a time out while they clear up the pesky Night King/Army of Dead situation.  Also, they kinda don’t believe him. Davos goes into total hype man mode and starts to rattle off Jon’s resume and all the things he’s done for the North and how he got stabbed in the heart and Jon gives him a look that screams “Ix-nay on the resurrection alk-tay, man! They already don’t believe this whole Whitewalker stuff!”
Tumblr media
The meeting is cut short when Varys arrives with some important news. Jon and Davos are sent to their rooms for some R&R and Dany lets them know their current status is “esteemed guests who are not yet prisoners.”
Varys breaks the news to Dany on the Euron Greyjoy ambush.  Ugh.  Well there goes the Greyjoy and Martell support. When Dany asks if there were any  survivors on her side, we get a very brief cut to Theon being fished out of the water by one of the Good Greyjoy ships that survived the ambush of the Bad Greyjoys.  Needless to say, Theon can’t get no respect from the crew.
Tumblr media
Killer Queen
While we’re on the subject of Greyjoys…Euron has returned to King’s Landing with the gift he promised Cersei:  Ellaria Sand and her daughter, Tyene  aka the ones who sneakily murdered Cersei and Jaime’s daughter, Myrcella. Well, well, well, isn’t payback a biatch? After parading through town with his prisoners -who get a proper public-shaming from the good people of King’s Landing - Euron delivers the duo to Cersei with much bravado. Cersei is extremely pleased and tells Euron he’ll get what he wants (her hand in marriage) once the war against Daenerys is won.  In the meantime, she appoints him as her naval commander and then moves on to the most important business of the day: Revenge.
Tumblr media
In one of the dungeons of the Red Keep, Cersei along with Qyburn and Frankenmountain pay Ellaria and her daughter a visit.  The prisoners are chained and gagged and Cersei launches into a blistering, taunting, calculated monologue about how she’s been planning for this day, deciding how she would punish Ellaria. She lays out various gruesome scenarios and finally, Queen C plants a big ol’ kiss on Tyene’s lips and mother and daughter immediately realize that she’s been given the kiss of death with the same poison that was used to kill Cersei's own daughter.  Poetic justice. In true Cersei fashion before sauntering off, she lets Ellaria know that she’ll have the pleasure of watching her daughter die and decompose in front of her as she lives out the rest of her days in this cell, contemplating her poor choices in life.
Tumblr media
Next, Cersei joins Jaime in his chambers to jump his bones, cause revenge just makes her super horny.  Naturally.
The next morning, Cersei has a visitor.  It’s a representative of the Iron Bank of Braavos, and they want their two dollars…and then some.  The bank is concerned about the impending war between Cersei and Daenerys and the outstanding mountain of debt the Lannisters still owe the bank. The rep hints the bank is considering funding Queen Dany since they aren’t about to loan Cersei any more money until she pays back the current loan. Cersei assures the banker that Lannisters always pay their debts and if he can hold off for just one more day, the debt will be paid in full.  Oooh, what’s up her sleeve this time?
Tumblr media
Whattaya Want From Meh?!
Back at Dragonstone, Jon is getting some fresh air and brooding as only he can.  Tyrion joins him and makes a few attempts at humor, but Jon is, like, totally super bummed out, man, ‘cause he really needs to save his people from the damn ice zombies that nobody else believes in and it’s just so freakin’ frustrating, uuuuugh! Tyrion tells Jon his request would be a tall order for anybody during a first-time meeting.  He points out that Dany and Jon have quite a bit in common in that they both care about helping and saving others and that Jon should give things some time for Dany to come around once she gets a clearer feel for who Jon is.  But ain’t nobody got time for that! Jon and the North are running out of time and he needs help now, so Tyrion asks him if Jon has any other, doable, requests.  Hmm.  Well, ya know…there just happens to be all that dragon glass which Jon came for…
Tumblr media
Cut to Dany and Tyrion in the war room as Tyrion talks Dany into allowing Jon to mine the dragon glass as a show of good faith to help win Jon Snow as an ally. It’s a great scene peppered with a handful of funny moments.
Dany goes out to join Jon on the mountain top, and they watch her dragons flying in the distance.  She tells him how people thought dragons didn’t exist anymore, and indicates that perhaps she can be a bit more openminded about other things that sounds impossible.  She lets him know his wish for the dragon glass is granted and that she’ll even provide the necessary resources to mine it.  When Jon asks if this means she believes him in regard to the Whitewalkers, Dany simply tells him he’d better hop to it. Nice dodge, Dany.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile at Winterfell, Sansa is totally killing it in the upper management department and is in total doomsday prep mode, making sure they have enough food for the long winter, and the proper armor to fight the army of dead. She has a moment alone with Littlefinger who gives her some unsolicited advice, and we get a peek into the inner workings of his mind.  He tells her that if the North happens to defeat the Whitewalkers and humanity as they know it is saved and intact, she needs to be prepared for what happens afterwards.  He suggests a fabulous pastime that involves imagining every possible scenario that can ever happen at any time, based on whether a person is a friend or an enemy - that way nothing will ever come as a surprise, because she’ll already have lived and seen it in her mind’s eye.  Considering they don’t have Facebook in this world, it sounds like a pretty effective way to stay busy and keep the mind sharp.  So what if it probably makes you paranoid and one of the side effects is that you’ll start making scheme-y faces all the time? And on the plus side, once Sansa is done plotting out every single possible scenario she can think of, she can start writing GOT fan fiction and possibly pitch a spin-off to HBO. Wink, wink.
Tumblr media
Littlefinger’s advice session is cut off when they hear a commotion in the courtyard and Sansa is called over.  It’s Bran!  Our little baby’s all grownsed up! Sansa runs over to her bro and hugs him.  It’s a sweet moment and not unlike the reunion with Jon at Castle Black.  I do love a good Stark sibling reunion!
Tumblr media
Sansa and Bran have a private chit chat at the Godswood tree. Sansa says she wishes Jon was here for the reunion and Bran throws out as an aside, “Yeah, me too, I have something to tell him”…like what, Bran? Like who his real parents are??? Can somebody please send a raven to Dragonstone, stat, cause it could really help clear things up for Jon during his visit with Auntie Dany right now.  Ok, I digress. Sansa points out that Bran’s the oldest living Stark son, and the rightful Lord of Winterfell.  But her little bro tells her how he’s not the lord of anything, seeing how he is now the Three-Eyed-Raven and she’s like “Wtf does that mean?” Bran tells Sansa he can see everything that has ever happened and also things that are happening now, though only in flashes, and that he’s working on getting better at this ability so he can make sense of things. When he mentions her wedding night, it freaks Sansa out and she excuses herself to go back inside. Bran is eerily calm and dreamy in his demeanor the whole scene and you really start to feel that with all the stuff he’s seen while warging, he seems to be losing a part of his humanity - or at the very least, his own sense of self.
Tumblr media
Rebel, Rebel
At the Citadel, Archmaester Marwyn is examining Ser Jorah’s skin, noting a seemingly remarkable recovery.  Marwyn lets on that he knows exactly what happened, but Jorah is sticking with the story that he just took a nap and started to feel better.  Boom, living proof that naps are good for you! Marwyn confirms that Jorah is fully healed and is good to go on his merry way.  But he tells Sam to visit him in his office later.  Ruh roh, Samwell Tarly, you got some ‘splaining to do! Ser Jorah thanks Sam and tells him he’s going to head back to his Khaleesi.
Tumblr media
Later in Marwyn’s office, Sam gets a slap on the hand for disobeying the archmaester.  He asks Sam how he managed to heal Jorah when so many archmaesters who have tried the procedure in the past have failed.  It’s simple really, Sam read and followed the instructions.  In my head, I’m cutting to Gilly saying “You’re like…a wizard!”. The archmaester gives Sam a verbal pat on the back for saving Jorah’s life, and then it’s back to the usual grind: some scrolls need to be copied and Sam is the lucky guy who gets to be a human Xerox machine. Marwyn tells him that if he was expecting a reward for his good deed with Jorah it’s that he isn’t being expelled. Aw, man, Sam can’t get a break.  Very fun scene though.
War Games
Back at Dragonstone, Dany is in the war room with her advisors. She wants to hop on a dragon, find Euron’s fleet and torch it to the bottom of the sea, but everybody talks her out of it.  Even if her dragons are strong and nearly invincible, Dany would endanger herself while riding on Drogon, as anybody could try to shoot her down, and it’s a risk she can’t take.  Tyrion reminds her they need to keep their eye on the prize: the siege of Casterly Rock.
Misandei - who clearly has Grey Worm on the brain after her last steamy encounter with him - asks what’s in store for the Unsullied and so we get a cool action sequence of the invasion while Tyrion narrates what will happen, noting that Casterly Rock has a sewer system that allows access into the impenetrable walls of Tyrion’s childhood home - he designed it himself to sneak whores in, back in his younger days.  We see the Unsullied army fight their way past the gates while a group led by Grey Worm sneaks in via the sewer system.  The Unsullied have soon defeated the Lannister army, but it’s all too easy and there aren’t nearly as many men as they expected.  Grey Worm asks a fallen Lannister soldier where everybody else is, and when he looks up, he sees the Unsullied ships have all been set ablaze.  Well, crap.  That’s twice now that Dany’s plans have been foiled.  Maybe she needs better advisors.
Tumblr media
And where, indeed, have all the Lannister soldiers gone? We see the giant army advancing to High Garden, home of the Tyrell family - also the richest family in Westeros.  And leading them are Jaime Lannister along with Randyll Tarly and his son, Dickon. Ugh, sell-outs!  Lady Olenna watches from her room as her home is besieged.  She knows what comes next.  And Cersei has indeed fulfilled her promise to the Iron Bank as her army seizes all that Tyrell gold.
Tumblr media
Once the battle is over, Jaime is in Lady Olenna’s room.  The old lady is seated at a table, resigned to her fate.  She asks how she’ll be killed and Jaime tells her he talked Cersei out of the more violent options she had entertained, and that it’ll be a painless death by poison. He pours a vial into her glass, and Lady Olenna swigs it down like a champ. As soon as she has ingested the poison she reveals that it was she who poisoned King Joffrey at his wedding.  Jaime’s face is aghast and Lady Olenna tells him she wants Cersei to know it was her.  Ya gotta hand it to Olenna, sticking it to Cersei one last time.
Tumblr media
Day-um! And there we have it.  Nearly halfway through the season and sh*t be going down! I thoroughly enjoyed this episode. Pretty disapointed for Dany that her advisors couldn’t have thought that Cersei would anticipate the Casterly Rock attack and send the majority of her men to fight the Tyrells.  But it certainly raises the stakes, now that things aren’t looking so easy for Dany and she’s on her own again.  She’d better start making new friends quickly.  Seeing how things turned out for the Martells and Tyrells, however, my guess is that not too many houses will want to cross the reigning queen
Ok, time for a little chit chat and some theories. There are so many questions I have: Will Jon find out about his true heritage while he’s still at Dragonstone? If so, where does that put him in the line of succession? Does the bastard son of Rhaegar outrank the legitimate daughter as heir to the throne? Not that Jon would want to be king… Is Arya going to make it to Winterfell? I really want to see her wind up killing Cersei while wearing a Jaime face.  When will The Hound and his co-horts meet up with the rest of the players in the North? Surely having some Lord of Light believers will help their cause, but what are they gonna do - pray the snow away?  Will Cersei ever get tired of winning so much? I figure her next move has gotta be to hit Dragonstone whilst ambushing the Unsullied army on their way back from Casterly Rock…oh the possibilities!  I hope Jon and Dany can come to an agreement on an alliance swiftly.  And will Cersei ever be asked to join the fight against the Whitewalkers? It certainly would be in her best interest, though I’m sure any help she offers will be the kind that puts her in aprime position to continue ruling the seven kingdoms once/if the army of dead is defeated.
I definitely want more Bran visions.  I have a half-baked theory that the old three-eyed-raven who lived in the tree is an older version of Bran and he is caught in some crazy time loop. And there are rumors flying around the interwebs that Tyrion is actually also a Targaryen (some believe the Mad King had the hots for Tyrion’s mom, so maybe he raped her? It would explain why Tywin hated him so much).  If so, perhaps we’ll end up seeing Dany, Jon and Tyrion each mounting a dragon and laying waste to the Whitewalkers.  Who knows, maybe Cersei will even throw in some dragon fire for their cause - I’m sure she held onto a few barrels.
Ok, that’s enough with my musings for now. Until next week, my dears.  And if you happen to see the new Qyburn lipstick collection at your local department store beauty counter, may I suggest the new “Drop Dead Gorgeous” shade? I hear it’s to die for.

GOT: Episode 7 x 03 Review
You know, for a season that D & D have been hyping as “nonstop action,” I’m rather bored. Just because the pacing is fast does not mean anything of actual substance is happening. Episode 3 proves that.
The episode opens with Jon and Daenerys meeting for the first time; a meeting that has been hyped since the show began. And it was remarkably underwhelming. As to be expected, Deadpan Targaryen is only concerned with the throne, and Jon tries to tell her that they have bigger fish to fry and that winning the throne will be for nought if the White Walkers invade Westeros. They have a back and forth on what’s more important: Jon bending the knee or the fight to the North, which goes nowhere after 20 minutes. But hey, we got some memeworthy Daenerys reading off all her titles and Papa Davos saying “This is Jon Snow” so LOL. (BTW, is Davos even a character anymore? I feel like he exists solely to be a straw man and fatherly mansplainer.) Also, why is Jon’s resurrection a secret now? You’d think with this show logic even Hot Pie would know about that.
The thing is, I really want to sympathize with these characters. If Emilia Clarke didn’t play Daenerys as so god damn deadpan, she almost would’ve had a nice speech about how she is not going to back down after all she’s been through. I’m shocked that they acknowledged that Drogo raped her when it turned into TRUE LUB on the show. And if there are bigger fish to fry, then why doesn’t Jon doesn’t bend the knee, especially considering Winterfell isn’t even his god damn birthright anyways?
 But dramatically satisfyingTM, amirite?
There are also a few scenes at Dragonstone that reflect the sad truth that GOT has become a parody of itself. Jon stands brooding on a ledge and Tyrion gives him shade for it. Tyrion tries to outsass and mansplain things to Daenerys and she calls him out for making shit up and pretending it’s the most sage advice ever. I honestly can’t tell you what any of them talked about other than mining Dragonglass, that’s how boring those scenes were.
Remember when these characters actually had development, guys? What sweet summer children we were.
Speaking of ruined character development, we see Euron parading Yara and the Sand Fakes around a cheering King’s Landing. Because no one cares that Cersei blew hundreds of people up and it was totally an accident? MMkay. Euron brings Ellaria and Tyene as a gift to Cersei and then asks Jaime if she likes being butt-fingered, I shit you not.
Cersei locks up Ellaria and Tyene and basically kills Tyene the same way Myrcella was killed by kissing her with poisoned lips. Yet another example of characters somehow finding out exactly what happened offscreen because it is convenient. The scene is also an example of Lena Headey and Indira Varma blowing it out of the park despite lazy writing. These actors are too good for the material they were given to work with, and it shows. It’s hilarious how many roles D & D have “reconceived to suit their actor’s talents” that actually ended up being less dramatic and meaty than they would’ve been had they followed the source material. But it looks like we’re done with Dorne for good at least.
Next we see Cersei giving Jaime a blowjob because they are just in true love, guys. And then they end up doing the do and I believe Lena’s body double is back. I just don’t understand why D & D are trying to push the twincest on us, but god damn. How little regard they have for Jaime’s character arc is astounding.
Cersei also has a conversation with Tycho Nestoris from the Iron Bank in which she demands money because Dany will free all of the Iron Bank’s slaves....even though Braavos doesn’t permit slavery?
Just counting down the days until Confederate is cancelled, good grief.
I will say it was surprising to see a scene that was attempting to establish some sort of logistics even though it failed miserably.
Back in Winterhell, Sansa is a boss ass bitch and tells everyone what to do as if they are not experienced lords. This totally would’ve been earned if D & D had actually followed Sansa’s political plotline from the books, but I guess rape powers make you a leader. Littlefinger, who is officially the most pointless character on the show at this point, takes Sansa aside to give her a nonsensical speech thats only purpose was to fill the season 7 trailer. He is interrupted, however, by the return of Bran. But unlike the genuinely heartwarming reunion that was with Jon and Sansa, Bran is now a robot because the three-eyed raven must have no emotion for some reason. Sansa, of course, has no idea what Bran is talking about, so Bran decides the best way to demonstrate his powers is to remind Sansa of being raped and tell her how beautiful she was when it happened.
I screamed “WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK” at my TV.
D & D are seriously messed up. They aren’t just incompetent, they are fucked up.
There are just so many things wrong with this. One, we did not see Bran’s transformation into this robot, so we can’t just accept this drastic change without reason. As of last season, Bran still seemed human. Of course, the deaths of Hodor and Summer were tragic, but Bran doesn’t even bring them up as a reason for his detachment. So this sudden character change just comes out of nowhere. And even so, the fact that D & D gleefully like to trigger Sansa and the audience like this by bringing up rape for no reason just shows how juvenile they are.
And Bran. Well, they’ve never been invested in his character development since Season 2, so at this point it’s easy to just call him a plot device and not try to explain anything.
Well, RIP book Bran. Book Jaime’s holding a seat for you.
Oh, and there’s also a scene showing that Jorah is OK and basically all you needed to do to cure Greyscale was peel it off, because of course it would be that easy. Jorah decides to go stalk KHALEESI, Sam experiences the very real task of being an unpaid intern who doesn’t get credit for anything, and that plotline went nowhere and served no purpose! But someone needed to get greyscale because….?
Oh, and there’s a pointless Theon scene just to show he survived.
I am literally trying to remember what else happened this episode, but it was so boring that my mind is blanking….oh yeah! There were some fights somewhere. Grey Worm and the unsullied storm Casterly Rock, and Tyrion narrates how they’ll go in through his hoe-door because he is oh-so-clever, but oops! They get bamboozled by Euron Greyjoy. It turns out most of the Lannister forces were actually marching on Highgarden and take it offscreen because gay people obviously don’t know how to fight.
I have to laugh at Benioff’s ignorant-ass comments in the “Behind the Episode” sequence. Like, bitch, do you remember who won the battle of Blackwater? So much blatant homophobia in assuming a house that has an openly gay character has a shit army when the whole point of season 2 was showing that the Lannisters needed their army? HOW did GRRM decide these guys were the best choice to adapt the show again?
Anyways, Jaime confronts a defeated Olenna. Olenna, who is just too damn good for this show, agrees to drink poison as her execution, and then reveals to Jaime she was behind Joffrey’s death. She has the same thing on her mind as the audience: Why the fuck is Jaime still with Cersei? A woman who’s committed the atrocities the Mad King threatened to do? Jaime retorts with some bullshit and leaves Olenna to die, but she’s the real winner here, escaping this shitty writing and absolute bullshit. Oh, and she calls Joffrey a cunt because swearing is cool (I know, I am guilty of being a potty mouth, but that’s not out of character for me).
Oh! And I just remembered that Varys and Melisandre have a conversation. It wasn’t a bad conversation, and it wasn’t even out of character, but I was so outraged by all of the things happened this episode that acceptable scenes fell through the cracks.
I am just stunned that even shownlies could watch this crap and think it’s anything more than shock value entertainment. The writing just keeps on getting lazier and lazier, and it didn’t even pay off with anything of real excitement or value. Even the fanservice is lackluster. I am actually dreading Season 8 at this point. It is so obvious D & D just want to be done and they don’t care about logic as long as they can get from point A to point B.
If anything, the show has made me appreciate the books more, so I guess that’s one positive that’s come from this.

How would you LOVE for Game of Thrones to end vs how you would expect it to realistically end?
Sorry I took so long to answer this! I first received it out of town and then got so many more asks that were quick and easy answers. This is one I really wanted to take my time with haha.
Okay, so I would LOVE for Game of Thrones to end in a way that is totally not consistent with its tone thus far so I know this won’t happen. I put this disclaimer here as a filter for the long string of wet blanket anons who love to come into my inbox and tell me all of the problems with my answers even when those answers are meant to be in good fun, and not to be taken seriously–like this one haha.
So in my happy fantasy ending (that we know will never happen, okay?), the WW are dead. Jon and Dany’s season-long relationship has lead to an unexpected (for them at least) pregnancy. Dany has a baby girl. This is not a problem because they are both alive to assert that their daughter will have full rights to inherit any titles they hold upon their death, because if anyone thinks the “men first” inheritance rules are bullshit, it’s Dany. Baby is named Lyanna. Bite me, I love this name and the idea of Jon wanting to name his daughter after the mother he never knew but later learned of.
Speaking of that, Jon comes to terms with his Targaryen roots when he learns of them. At first he feels strange about his familial connection to Dany but his affection for her overcomes any weirdness since as we all know, cousins and other family members often wed in this universe. If anything, their shared blood gives both Jon and Dany a renewed sense of belonging with one another. Jon no longer feels like the cast off or bastard, and Dany takes comfort in the fact that she is not the last dragon after all, and that she and Jon can carry on her family’s special bloodline together.
But Jon is still a Stark at heart, and he is the planner, the pragmatist, and the surly one in the relationship. Dany is still fiery, temperamental, and passionate. But she is even more compassionate and together they are very happy. They get married without frills while they are still in the North, because Jon keeps the Old Gods and I love Northern wedding ceremonies :)
Instead of ruling the 7k as king and queen, they both desire a quieter life after everything they’ve been through. Dany’s main prerogative is to leave the world better than she found it, and she can do that without being queen of the 7k. This makes sense because the Iron Throne both visually and literally is a seat for one, not for a happy, functioning couple. So Dany and Jon take up residence at Dragonstone to raise their family while remaining close enough to King’s Landing to still be involved in the governance of the realm. Dany serves as a representative of sorts who periodically travels to King’s Landing along with other prominent survivors to discuss important business.
Her dothraki are complicated. I suppose they could have a good life in the South, where the landscape isn’t so different from the dothraki sea. They breed the best horses in the realm. The Unsullied stay at Dragonstone as Dany and Jon’s personal guard.
Tyrion travels between King’s Landing and Casterly Rock, and serves in a position something like a prime minister, overseeing and calling the aforementioned meetings of representatives together. He also oversees the people who hold important “small council” style positions. There is still a master of coin, etc, and a bank. Things still have to function. It’s not a utopia. Varys lives in KL as well and is still our favorite gossip and to some extent shares governance with Tyrion as he did in Meereen while Dany was gone.
Jaime stays in King’s Landing with Tyrion, who he managed to reconcile with after Cersei’s death. I’m going to say that Jaime finally wised up and saw Cersei’s role in the deaths of all their children and fulfilled the prophecy by killing her himself. Since I will always see Jaime as a man who loves to fight, he will serve as something between the commander of the City Watch and the commander of what was the Kingsguard, because Tyrion and other government officials will still need protection.
Brienne, whose life’s goal it has been to serve honorably and to serve someone deserving, stays in Winterfell where she protects Sansa, the Lady of Winterfell. Sansa is married to Podrick Payne, and she doesn’t care at all that people reading this are freaking out about how he isn’t enough of a noble and it isn’t an advantageous marriage. Because Sansa always wanted a handsome, gallant knight to sweep her off her feet. And who better than the truly adorable and perfect cinnamon that is Pod? Not to mention the fact that he is canonically sensational in the sack. Sansa deserves a positive romantic relationship for once in her life.
I think it’s difficult to choose for Arya because I want so many different things for her. I am not sure if Arya’s character where she stands now would be happy being rooted in one place, if she really would settle down and stay in Winterfell. I see Arya exploring what is left of the world to explore, doing cool shit and always coming back to visit her beloved big brother/cousin, of course :P She also will have Gendry at her side because I will continue shipping Gendrya from beyond the grave lol. Maybe for added fun The Hound joins them on these adventures. That’s a spinoff I would watch the hell out of.
Bran lives at Winterfell with Sansa. I am also on the fence about Bran’s ending. Does he like being the Three-Eyed Raven when all is said and done? Does he want to have visions in peace time? If not, I like to think he would find reprieve from them at Winterfell with his sister. Maybe he’s married to Meera and they have gorgeous children with curly brown hair. God this is so sickeningly sweet and nothing like GoT hahaha I am so sorry.
Sam finishes his studies at the Citadel and becomes maester at Dragonstone, because there is no longer a Wall and no longer a Night’s Watch. There is nothing to fight off North of The Wall and the Free Folk are now free. Gilly lives with Sam and Little Sam.
The Free Folk have all been given lands in the wide expanse of the North, which has even more room thanks to the catastrophic casualties of the wars we’ve seen through the seasons.
All of these noble houses whose lords are dead are quickly filled with people who were helpful in the war effort, like Davos, Edd, Grey Worm, Missandei (those two are together, of course :P), maybe even Tormund, Theon.
Speaking of Theon, Euron died in some glorious fashion, a battle at sea, and Yara is queen of the Iron Islands, where there is no more raping and reaving, and my beautiful pirates live well, crafting the best ships for travel throughout Planetos.
I’m sure I’m forgetting someone but that’s it for now.
So onto how I think it actually will end.
I think that the war with the WW will be devastating. The Wall will be totally destroyed and there will be a lot of damage to the North. Winterfell will be okay because the Stark’s always endure, etc etc. King’s Landing will be destroyed.
Again, my honest speculation is that all of our faves can’t possibly live until the end. I think that Jon might die during this war. I don’t want that to happen. But I think it will happen. I will be inconsolable for the rest of my life but I am still trying to be logical about it and manage my expectations haha.
If Jon does die in battle, I think he and Dany will have conceived a baby before that happened so that the Targaryen line continues on. As I’ve said before I am not sure the Iron Throne will still be a thing at the end so instead of ruling in KL Dany will be queen at Dragonstone and will raise her child, who will probably be a son.
Since she granted independence to the Iron Islands in the season 6 finale, she will happily let other kingdoms govern themselves if they wish and I imagine whatever is left of Dorne will choose that route, along with the North.
Alternatively, both Jon and Dany live through the battle. But Dany dies in childbirth, and Jon raises their child at Winterfell. These are two very different predictions, I know. But I just don’t know if George or D&D will be nice enough to let both live haha.
I have a feeling that the remaining Starks will live, but that Sansa will be the one to rule Winterfell and possibly serve as Wardeness of the North if such a title still exists, maybe even QitN, which could be cool.
If Arya survives, my prediction for her is kind of similar in my fantasy version and real speculation. I don’t see Arya just marrying some lord and I certainly don’t see her just sitting around serving Sansa at Winterfell. I feel that Arya might continue roaming.
I kind of buy into all the fun theories that Bran really is all of those Bran’s throughout history, or that he at least influences them as the Three-Eyed Raven. So I think that Bran will continue to be the Three-Eyed Raven, watching over everyone and staying rooted wherever he has to to do that.
Tyrion will live and so will Varys and like I said in my fun ending I believe that they will manage the government of the realm, but since I think KL will get destroyed, perhaps they do this from Dragonstone as their headquarters.
I do think that Cersei will die but unlike in my happy fantasy ending I think that Jaime will die too. I hate this but it’s just what I predict. Jaime, especially show!Jaime, seems to base so much of his identity on Cersei that I honestly can’t picture what he would do without her, especially now that all of their children are dead.
I think that a lot of our minor characters that we love will die in the war, too. Probably The Hound. Maybe Tormund. I could see Brienne going out defending Sansa as much as I would hate that. But I know they’re going to tear at our heartstrings a few more times before this is all through.
If Davos lives I believe he will be given a lordship somewhere if Jon is dead. If Jon lives, I see him continuing to be Jon’s own sort of “Hand of the King”/adviser/hype man.
Sam’s story is one that I also see the same in real ending and happy ending. He will finish his studies to be a maester and then serve somewhere, always keeping Gilly with him because “fuck the system” Sam is a thing and I am 100% here for it.
Theon will die fighting but it will be okay because he can never be the man he was before Ramsay got to him anyway. Euron will eventually be killed but not before wreaking a fuck ton of havoc. He probably kills Theon. Yara gets to rule the Iron Islands but it is not easy and she faces a lot of resistance as their first female ruler.
If Gendry lives he could possibly be legitimized and be lord of Storm’s End. I would dig that.
I have no idea what to say about the Sand Snakes. No idea.
Drogon and Rhaegal will be the last dragons because their power is too much for any one person to have. Dragons returned to the world with Dany because she uses them for good to fight the WW. But they, and many other traces of magic, will die out from the realm at the close of our story.
If I’m being realistic I’m sure that Essos will to some extent return to its former lawlessness, but I doubt slavery will ever truly take root their again, especially around the Bay of Dragons :)
Anyway, I wish this was more detailed but I am tired and this answer is already insanely long. I hope it is at least of some interest to you, anon!

GoT Re-Watch: Fine-Toothed Comb Edition
I’m back! With a really bad episode!
5.09 - The Dance of Dragons
This episode has a previously on, reminding us of the envoy Cersei sent to the Iron Bank and that Meryn Trant went with. We also get the the snake-in-a-box again, if you wanted a giggle! It ends at 1:42.
(4:14) In spite of the snow, and from the looks of the establishing shot it’s been snowing for a while, the tents go up like they’ve been soaked in kerosene.
(4:21) The shot from above shows us that fires were set at a bunch of disparate points throughout the camp. The fired tents weren’t right next to each other, they were broadly and more-or-less evenly spaced.
(4:47) “A band of twenty men, maybe less. They were in and out before anybody spotted them.”
1. Contrivance strikes, and the plot reaper will soon follow. I don’t - I can’t - urgh. Right. So. I’ll give it a try. Twenty men snuck into a guarded camp without being noticed - had to be multiple entry points, too. They scattered and located every tent and wagon with supplies, plus the siege weapons (and why weren’t those guarded especially, as valuable, hard-to-replace pieces of machinery vulnerable to sabotage?). That should total more than twenty objects, so at least some of these twenty good men found secondary targets, possibly even tertiary targets. Then they set them alight more or less simultaneously, every tent, wagon, and siege weapon thus torched going up like a gumtree in a bushfire, destroying Stannis’ supplies and siege weapons totally. Then these twenty good men all got out of the camp without being spotted. This is ludicrous.
And why has this guided missile strike on Stannis’ chances of success occurred? Because the writers hate Stannis.
The writers have always hated Stannis. And you know, that’s fine, everyone has characters they like more than others, and everyone has characters they flat out dislike. This sort of contrivance to eliminate a hated character, however, is bad writing - and exactly the sort of bad writing you see most often, probably, in bad fanfiction, where the writer goes “lol no!” and pulls the rug out from under an established subplot more or less solely because they don’t like the character heading that subplot and don’t want that character to succeed.
Yes, I’m saying this is bad fanfiction. Not good fanfiction. Bad fanfiction.
2. Fewer.
(5:01) If there is one redeeming feature of this development, it’s Stannis expressing his meta-disapproval. “Twenty men rode into our camp without anyone sounding the alarm?” This does not sound like a man who’s suffered a crippling military setback. This sounds like a man who now knows for certain that the gods are out to get him.
To be fair, the gods of this particular universe are indeed out to get him!
(5:22) Davos here takes the role Sansa will take next season, outlining problems and hammering on them so the audience knows the person they’re speaking to is wrong wrongity wrong wrong McWrong (they’re wrong), but failing to offer anything remotely resembling a solution, or even a less bad course of action.
(5:30) From this cut over to Melisandre, from Davos’ perspective, we know that this decision is all Melisandre’s fault!
(6:03) Season six gave us a lot of funny teleports, but until then, this one was my personal favourite. Jon and company go from being on ships off the far northeastern coast, to the midline of the continent - north of the Wall.
(6:37) This was done for the tense, dramatic moment, when Alliser Thorne may or may not let the Free Folk through, against Jon’s orders. But it’s like…why didn’t you just sail south of the Wall?
(7:44) Sam also takes Jon’s reflection that Castle Black has come back to life. Not in those words, no, but he takes the central idea that Jon has done something big and important and meaningfully good by letting the Free Folk through the Wall. The writers continue to outsource Jon’s brain to Sam.
(8:26) Gee, do you think Olly might be up to something suspicious?
(9:36) So, now Stannis can send someone back to Castle Black asking for supplies? Alternatively, Stannis doesn’t want to get Davos killed, or alternatively alternatively, he knows he’s coming up on a difficult moral choice (to burn your daughter to alleviate the partly cloudy day, or not to burn your daughter to alleviate the partly cloudy day? Think about it, Hamlet) and doesn’t want Davos persuading him to anything.
(10:19) Oh, there goes the argument that Stannis knows he’s coming up on a defeat and doesn’t want to get Davos killed - he rejects the idea of sending Selyse and Shireen with Davos. (If he’s the sort of asshole who wants people to go down with him, why not Davos too? It’s pretty bloody clear he cares about Davos more than Selyse.)
(10:43) Now there’s a person suffering from lack of winter clothing? Davos is wandering around just fine without a hat!
(11:06) Title drop!
(11:27) Ugh, what was that direction with Shireen? Was there any need to sound so satisfied about a man getting burnt to a crisp because he did something not very clever? Hahahahahah oh man that’s funny and Davos in particular, whose son died by burning, would find this tale of a man getting dragonfried hysterical.
(12:18) Davos is talking about that son now. His dead son. Do you think it’s possible Shireen will be burned at the end of the episode, making this entire scene yet another deeply cruel joke?
(12:55) Check out the angle on this shot; we’re practically getting to see up Jaime’s nose.
(13:15) We know Jaime’s interacting with Myrcella as a father because he’s policing her fashion choices.
(13:39) Doran’s point about contacting him in secret is sensible. But there’s also no good reason to be having this meeting with Ellaria, Myrcella, and Trystane listening in.
This scene is wearing too many hats. It has to deal with the political aspect of Jaime’s mission (not a simple rationalising job), further Jaime and Myrcella’s lack of relationship, and set up for Myrcella’s death. And if we hadn’t had cringeworthy scenes of the Sand Snakes in prison, we could have had that much more justification. Not that I think this plot is especially salvageable, but even now this plot could be better.
(13:53) Everyone here knows Ellaria was responsible. Everyone.
(14:13) While Doran gives his reasons for preferring not to start a futile war with the Lannister regime, remember that the end result of this plot is that he’s killed for being too ‘weak’. Yep. It’s real spineless of show!Doran, to know his people want war and to resist taking that path because it would hurt people, mostly his own people, needlessly and for no good result.
(14:37) The whole pouring out the wine thing was shoehorned in pretty clumsily, and taken together with Ellaria’s previous comments and actions, it doesn’t seem like a powerful gesture of protest, but rather sulking and spite - against Doran, more than Jaime.
(15:10) For a second here, with Doran’s lines about the alliance between the Iron Throne and Dorne, you think you’re going to get something like his pro-Targ plotting in the book, which was an awesome twist. Nope! I’ll talk about that more in 6.01.
(15:48) A hint that Doran’s not what Ellaria’s accusing him of being? Nope. They did enough work with Doran’s character to actually pull off the pro-Targ twist, I reckon, one of the few successes of this plot (thank you Alexanger Siddig!), and they manage to make it a compound fail.
(16:13) The part of this plot where literally every woman is irrational and emotional, and the men can calmly and quietly get things sorted out, is really quite distasteful.
(16:41) Oh, Bronn. I think this scene is tiresome too, and I’ve only heard a second of it.
(16:45) “Why do we play?” I don’t know either, I-think-you-must-be-Nymeria! This is a bad scene. A very bad scene.
(17:00) So going back to the part of the plot where the women are written incredibly badly. These ladies here have literally nothing to talk about but sex and violence, and are written as enjoying hurting each other.
(18:00) Woman called “slut”: 1.
(18:18) Sassy Bronn can get away with making light of his hitting Trystane and speaking out of turn.
(19:02) Sexual harassment of Arya included just because they couldn’t have a female character talk about clams without a Beavis-and-Butthead level “hur hur, she said clam.”
(19:12) We get it! Oysters, clams, and cockles! We heard!
(19:34) Arya just moved the poison from her cart to her belt pouch because…um…I think it’s because the audience needed to be reminded that she’s carrying poison.
(19:44) It’s going to be said a few times over the next season or so worth of episodes, but show!Arya is a really crappy assassin, and for the wrong reasons. Stare at your target, girl. Stare at them conspicuously. Book!Arya gains the skills of a Faceless Man, but cannot give up her identity nor her sense of justice, rendering her a terrible Faceless Man. Show!Arya cannot stalk a target, which also renders her a terrible Faceless Man, but there was some significant missing of the point going on.
(20:04) Mace Tyrell arrives in Braavos. He could have used one of those teleporters.
(20:24) The Iron Bank is still part of the plot?!
(20:55) “I’m afraid I don’t partake.” The writers don’t get that these societies without safe water don’t think of wine and alcohol in general the same way we do.
(21:13) Arya is the best assassin, staying right on the heels of her targets as they head into what’s clearly a higher-end business district.
(22:07) Musical interlude by Mace Tyrell.
(22:32) Renly and/or Loras is gay: 1. Do you think Meryn Trant might be a bad guy?
(22:54-56) Sex workers: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.
(24:07) Sex workers: 7, 8.
(24:27) Sex workers: 9.
(24:36) Once again, do you think Meryn Trant, with his constant repetitition of “too old” in reference to the sex workers he would prefer to patronise, might be a bad guy?
(26:02) “You’ll have a fresh one for me tomorrow.” I dunno, people. I think Meryn Trant might be evil.
This is ridiculous. We know this man is bad. We knew it a long time ago. We understand perfectly well why Arya wants to kill him. There was no need for the show to add even more “shocking” implications of sexual violence against women. Or, in this case, girls.
(26:38) Deaths: 1. Old man in the background just drank from the murder well.
(27:22) I don’t know what Doran thought this would accomplish. Ellaria and her children already violated a whole bunch of norms and customs in attacking Myrcella; what makes him think she’ll hold to a formal oath of allegiance? (In circumstances where the system of feudalism is already clear that Ellaria owes Doran her support, no less.)
(28:27) Nor has Doran taken any precautions to maintain Jaime’s security. He’s just letting Ellaria wherever. Including into Jaime’s rooms. Unannounced. Where are his guards?
(28:38) Jaime writes like a seven-year-old. Well, they at least remembered that he’s writing with his off hand - and forgot that they established show!Jaime as dyslexic back in season two. Whoops. Hilarious how this dyslexic character has trouble with writing. Let’s make fun of him for it.
(29:04) The implication here is that brother-sister incest is A-OK in Dorne. What the fuck, writers, what the fuck? A society that is less disapproving of extramarital and same-sex relationships isn’t all-permissive.
(29:17) Not true! What we see in things like WoIaA is that there is consistent tension between the Targaryen tradition of incest and the general beliefs of most Westerosi peoples.
(29:29) Also, I don’t know about you, but I could do without the romanticisation of Jaime and Cersei’s abusive relationship. It’s not “we want who we want,” it’s Jaime having no idea how to form and maintain a romantic or sexual relationship with anyone else.
(30:38) It’s no accident that the writers have Shireen tell Stannis about the Dance of Dragons. Aside from the title drop. We’re being reminded that hey! Stannis thinks he has a right to the throne! And his claim to the throne has perpetuated warfare! And he murdered his brother for the right to the throne!
(31:47) “If a man knows what he is, and remains true to himself, the choice is no choice at all.” This is what people mean by the show making Stannis evil. He’s saying in this line that becoming king is more important to him than Shireen. No other rationale. No duty to the realm. No imperative to save the kingdom. Just kingship > Shireen.
(31:13) Oh, isn’t it just the tragicest? Shireen wants to help! So selfless, so kind. She loves and trusts her father so much. A shame he’s building up the bonfire outside.
(32:34) Shireen here explicitly quotes from the wonderful heartwarming conversation she had with Stannis a few episodes ago. This is meant to hurt the viewer. All along, there was no other purpose to developing this relationship but to cause pain to the audience.
(33:44) Even now Shireen’s calling for her father, not knowing that he’s the one who decided on this.
(34:23) Faced with this scenario in the books, Stannis is still executing men for cannibalism. His standards remain. This scenario will only arise in the event he believes it’s Shireen, or everything. The show has done a piss-poor job of convincing us that Stannis’ straits are so dire that he’d resort to this…and it doesn’t care, because the writers were firmly convinced going in that Stannis is evil.
This is where the “bad fanfiction” point comes in. The writers have blown up this subplot because they don’t like the character. Who cares if it causes giant plotholes, disregards the established values and skills of the character, and means the next season has to retread the same ground? The writers have favourites and they are going to play with those favourites, goddamn it.
(34:41) Oh, and while we’re at it, let’s talk about how goddamned sexist this is. Whatever you think of the adaptation and depiction of Selyse’s relationship with Shireen in the show, it is perfectly valid to depict a woman who does not love her child, and that is exactly what has happened in the previous seasons. It is also perfectly valid to depict a woman with strong religious convictions. But all these things just melt away in this moment, because Selyse is a mother. Needless to say, it ain’t happening with Stannis, who was established in the show to love his daughter far more than his wife does.
(34:58) As if to punctuate how un-desperate this situation is, Stannis’ soldiers are being very disapproving.
(35:12) …except for the ones willing to perform the plot requirement of preventing Selyse from saving her daughter.
(35:37) Deaths: 2. Shireen, killed by Stannis and Melisandre.
I do not think this show is a good show.
(36:41) Most pointless fake-out ever. Hizdahr really isn’t a traitor.
(37:27) Abs & pecs: 1. There’s one guy behind Daario.
(37:59) Abs & pecs: 3. Two more guys behind Dany. They’re out of focus. As if the showrunners would ever show breasts out of focus.
(38:07) Abs & pecs: 6. Another three from behind Hizdahr.
(38:09) Abs & pecs: 12. Six in this shot, that I counted. Again, pretty clearly meant to show poverty rather than sexualise the wearers, especially since a lot of these shirtless men aren’t perfect specimens of masculinity. Shirtless men are allowed to be not stunningly attractive in a way that shirtless women aren’t.
(39:10) Oh, fuck off, once again. “Has your experience ever involved any actual fighting?” No, but that doesn’t stop someone being capable of analysing fights. It may well mean Hizdahr has less insight into the specific factors that would help a smaller man win a fight against a larger man and, if called on to predict the outcome of a fight, he might well be less accurate - but it doesn’t prevent him from observing the record.
Also, yes, this is meant to undermine Hizdahr because he’s not a manly man who’s tried to kill people himself. As if standing up to Dany to persuade her to let him bury his father wasn’t brave of him. Seriously, criticise the guy for his past complicity in slavery and support of exploitation in the arena, not that he isn’t macho enough.
(39:50) Deaths: 3.
(41:00) Abs & pecs: 15.
(41:17) Dany has had this argument about pit fighters before, with Daario. We do not need to rehash it.
(41:20) …except for the fact that Tyrion has not had this argument about pit fighters before, and now he can put this debate to rest for us. Thanks, Tyrion!
(41:35) Abs & pecs: 16. Those are definitely some fanservice abs.
(42:09) Good on Dany for going ahead with starting the fight. Jorah’s continual, flagrant disregard of her wishes about their proximity is poor form in someone who would be either (or both) Dany’s advisor or her lover.
(42:56) Deaths: 4.
(43:04) Deaths: 5. Jorah kills another pit fighter.
(43:07) Abs & pecs: 18. New angle!
(43:52) Deaths: 6. Ow, right in the fanservice.
(44:10) All these reaction shots of Dany’s face aren’t making me think “oh, she’s still concerned for Jorah!” They are making me think Jorah is a complete bastard for making Dany watch him die. Which was the point of this exercise.
(44:34) Deaths: 7.
(44:55) Abs & pecs: 19, 20.
(45:20) Deaths: 8. Jorah kills a second other pit fighter.
(45:47) Deaths: 9. Jorah kills a Harpy. That’s some good bodyguarding from everyone else!
(46:08) Deaths: 10.
(46:15) Deaths: 11. Abs & pecs: 21.
(46:17) Deaths: 12.
(46:28) Deaths: 13. Daario kills a Harpy.
(46:30) Deaths: 14.
(46:37) Deaths: 15.
(46:40-41) Deaths: 16, 17. Daario’s second kill.
(46:48) Deaths: 18. Hizdahr, killed by a Harpy as he came back and attempted to help Dany escape. What a wimp.
(46:53) Deaths: 19. Daario’s third kill.
(46:55) Deaths: 20. Jorah’s fourth.
(47:06) This would appear to be a deliberate callback to Dany’s refusal to take Jorah’s hand when she exiled him. Because it was her emotional issues getting in the way when she booted him out of Meereen for spying on her and lying about it, and her emotional issues at fault for preventing their reconciliation when Jorah won’t listen to a damn thing she says.
(47:19) Just to go full damsel in distress here, deaths: 21. Tyrion kills a Harpy, saving Missandei in the process.
(47:29-33) Deaths 22, 23, 24.
(47:44) Deaths: 25. Jorah’s fifth kill.
(48:09) Abs & pecs: 24.
(48:13) Abs & pecs: 26.
(48:17) Abs & pecs: 28.
(48:42) Deaths: 25.
(48:52-53) Deaths: 26, 27.
(48:57-59) Deaths: 28, 29, 30. A sixth kill for Jorah, a fourth for Daario.
(49:02) Deaths: 31. A fifth kill for Daario.
(49:10-12) Deaths: 32, 33. A sixth kill for Daario.
(49:43) Drogon ex machina. This amazing flying lizard is here to save Dany from certain doom and deliver her to her next plot point, rather than do these things and also create covetousness in others that Dany must deal with politically and signify aspects of her own character.
(50:00) Deaths: 34.
(50:06) Deaths: 35.
(50:14) Deaths: 36, 37, 38, 39.
(50:21) Deaths: 44.
(50:33) Deaths: 49.
(50:43) Deaths: 50.
(50:54) Deaths: 51, 52. Jorah and Daario each hit seven kills.
(51:21) This moment would hit so much harder if we’d seen Dany compromise more, or had a better-articulated theme of unsatisfying peace vs. Bloody war.
(51:28) Deaths: 53. Eight kills for Daario.
(51:47) Ow, ow, ow, spiny dragon back, ow.
(52:15) The CGI people did such a good job with the dragon it’s a damn shame that nobody remembered that Dany’s hair needed to be blowing around.
(52:37) Here we get a big “relative importance of characters to the writers” moment. Dany’s just hopped on her dragon and flown off, the climax of a season’s worth of tension (go with it) between conciliation and war…and we leave off not on Dany flying for the first time, but on Tyrion’s wonderment at the sight.
Game of Numbers S05E09
Deaths: 53. Daario killed eight Harpies; Jorah seven, Tyrion one. Stannis and Melisandre killed Shireen. Hizdahr died in the Harpy attack.
Boobs: 0.
Abs & pecs: 28. All bar one were the standard “Essosi poverty” shortcut.
Sex workers: 9.
Woman called “slut”: 1.
Man called “slut”: 0.
Renly and/or Loras is gay: 1.

Dany and Jon meet and form a tenuous alliance, while Cersei executes revenge against the Sand Snakes and House Tyrell. Full recap of Game of Thrones episode, “The Queen’s Justice”, plus preview of episode 4 “The Spoils of War”.
Courtesy of Helen Sloan/HBO
“The Queen’s Justice” begins with the moment we’ve all been clamoring for, the first meeting between Daenerys Targaryen and Jon Snow. Jon and Davos arrive on the shores of Dragonstone and are greeted by Tyrion, Missandei, and a contingent of Dothraki soldiers. Jon and Davos must immediately surrender their weapons and even their boat. As they make their way to the castle, Jon and Tyrion reminisce about the last time they were together at Castle Black. Tyrion also asks about Sansa and speaks highly of her (while making sure to emphasize that their marriage was never consumated). Their conversations are interrupted when the dragons fly by and swoop down, causing Jon and Davos to drop to the ground.
And immediately I have so many feels. Do the dragons recognize Jon as a Targaryen? Will Jon get a chance to make a closer acquaintance with the dragons? If you believe rumors, this is the first time in a LONG time that three Targaryens (Dany, Jon, Tyrion) and three dragons are all under one roof in Dragonstone. WOWSA!

When Jon and Davos are led inside, Dany is sitting on her throne in the audience room. Missandei gives a very eloquent introduction, listing all of Dany’s titles, rightful Queen of the Andals and the First Men, Khaleesi, Mother of Dragons, etc. On the other hand, Jon gets a much more humble intro from Davos: “This is Jon Snow. He’s King in the North.”
Interestingly, Dany ignores Jon’s title of King, and refers back to when the last King in the North, Torrhen Stark, bent the knee to Aegon I Targaryen, swearing the initial pact of fealty of House Stark to House Targaryen, in perpetuity. From there, Dany tries to convince Jon to confirm House Stark’s loyalty to her by bending the knee, promising peace and prosperity, but Jon repeatedly refuses. He doesn’t know Dany. And like his Bannerman reminded him, the Targaryens have done terrible things to Jon’s relations in very recent memory. In an unexpected turn of events, Dany apologizes of behalf of her House and asks that Jon not hold the sins of the father against the daughter. After all, Dany is the last Targaryen… 😉 😉
Jon tries to reorient the conversation to talk about the impending threat of the Army of the Dead. Once the Night King arrives, none of this Westerosi politics will matter. But Dany refuses to waste time and resources on some White Walker fairy tale. Her fervent faith in herself, despite rape, betrayal, and constant death threats, is what has brought Dany this far and will see her through to sit on the Iron Throne. It is her destiny. But Davos asserts that Jon Snow also has a destiny. He has also survived betrayal and death to be named King of the North and lead his House against the White Walkers. Does this impasse mean there can be no resolution?
Their conversation is interrupted by Varys (who just finished calling out Mellisandre for hiding from Jon, the person she supposedly came to Dragonstone to champion). He has learned all about Euron’s attack on the Greyjoys and Sandsnakes and their fates are unknown.
In King’s Landing, Euron arrives to a parade, literally dragging Ellaria, Tyene, and Yara behind him. When they get to the Red Keep, he presents Ellaria and Tyene as his gifts to Cersei. Cersei is actually impressed and says she’ll marry Euron… after the war is won. And then Cersei executes her own justice. She has Ellaria and Tyene bound and gagged in the dungeons. Cersei then kisses Tyene with the same poison on her lips that Ellaria used on Myrcella…the Long Farewell. (Qyburn is the worst!) Ellaria will be forced to watch her own daughter die and decay. As Cersei leaves them, Ellaria and Tyene struggle to reach each other, but their bindings won’t allow them to meet.

Executing her punishment must put Cersei in the mood because she goes straight to Jaime and seduces him. The next morning after they’ve slept together, Cersei isn’t at all shy about having servants see them together. Incidentally, she has a guest, a representative from the Iron Bank of Braavos. The Lannisters are deep in debt and the Iron Bank is thinking of shifting their investment to back Dany in the war. However, Cersei pleads her case, saying that the war is already underway and she had drawn first blood. Lannisters always pay their debts. If this representative can wait two weeks, she will pay the debt in full. But how???
Back at Dragonstone, Jon is frustrated. He can’t afford to be detained at Dragonstone. Tyrion comes to speak to Jon, who’s even more convinced that Dany needs House Stark (withthe Ironborn and Dornish alliances broken). Tyrion does believe Jon, but it’s unreasonable for Jon to ask Dany, who he’s just met, to pick up and fight what many believe to be an imaginary enemy. So Tyrion tells Jon to ask for something he can reasonably do to help: dragonglass!
Tyrion is able to convince Dany to let Jon mine the dragonglass under Dragonstone. She’ll even provide the supplies and manpower. Dany will make this first step towards forming an alliance between their Houses. Jon and Dany actually have a bonding moment about the mystique of dragons and loss of family. And I’m all: That’s your Auntie, Jon! Dany, that’s your nephew!

Meanwhile, the Unsullied make their attack on Casterly Rock. With Tyrion’s knowledge of the underground sewage system, Greyworm and his contingent break in and let all their fellows inside. “Give me ten good men, and I’ll impregnate the bitch!” Thank you Ser Bronn, LOL. The trouble is that Casterly Rock has, for the most part, been abandoned. The Unsullied are further trapped when Euron burns the ships that transport the Unsullied. Now they have no choice but to cross Westeros on foot.
But where are the Lannisters? They are marching on the Tyrells at Highgarden. It’s incredible because now Cersei has the gold she needs to pay the Iron Bank and continue in the war. When Jaime goes to Lady Olenna to accept her defeat, she knows she has to die. Jaime decides to give her a poison, the other part of Cersei’s justice. During their conversation, Lady Olenna confronts Jaime about Cersei’s many atrocities. Why would Jaime stand by a monster? But Lady Olenna sees that he’s deep in his Cersei love-haze, “You poor fool. She’ll be the end of you.” After Lady Olenna takes the poison, she makes a major confession: she’s the one who had Joffrey killed. “Tell Cersei. I want her to know it was me.” WOW.SA.

In other events:
The surviving Ironborn loyal to Yara pluck Euron out of the sea. He claims that he tried to save Yara, but that’s not true. UGH.
At Winterfell, Bran and Meera arrive and meet Sansa. It’s clear that Bran’s responsibilities being the Three-Eyed Raven are weighing on him. He’s eager to see Jon though… I think we know why (R+L=J!!!). Bran tries to explain things to Sansa, but she doesn’t quite understand. Bran’s clearest articulation is when he tells Sansa about her wedding/night and apologizes for what she’s suffered. She’s definitely triggered by the memories and hastens to leave. Incidentally, it’s interesting that just as Littlefinger counsels Sansa to consider all battles, alternatives, and outcomes, her brother who can see all past and present arrives.
Jorah is healed! The procedure and concoction (with dragonglass?) that Samwell used works. When the Archmaester evaluates Jorah and sees that he’s healed of the greyscale, he doesn’t seem surprised, but tells Jorah he can leave. As for Jorah, he’s headed to meet Dany. Despite the risks Samwell takes to help Jorah, the Archmaester is impressed with him. “I read the book and followed the instructions.” May we all do the same, Sam! His reward? Archmaester won’t kick Sam out of the Citadel, but it’s back to the drudge work.
We’re just going to ignore that episode 4 has been leaked online, and continue with our preview and speculations for “The Spoils of War” (written by David Benioff and DB Weiss, directed by Mark Mylod):
Daenerys fights back. Jaime faces an unexpected situation. Arya comes home. (via HBO)
Let’s talk about these preview images. First, I can’t believe Theon has the nerve to show his face at Dragonstone. What’s he going to say to Dany? Maybe he’ll lie again about trying to save Yara, UGH.
Second, We know that Jon is still at Dragonstone… is Jaime there too??? The background in that photo looks very familiar, and if Jaime is there, no good can come of it. But Dany is done with the “clever plans” anyway, and she’s ready to go to war too.
Third, the synopsis, coupled with the images, suggests that Arya arrives at Winterfell! This would explain Sansa’s shock, Brienne and Pod’s low-key smile, and Littlefinger’s animosity. Hmmm, but this might be a chance for Sansa and Arya to get together to take out Littlefinger.
