“I’m not gonna buy your soul, man! What the heck?”
Constantine pulled a face at the kid-looking royal who floated in front of him.
“Oh, come on, mate! It’s not like I will use it once I kick the bucket.” With all the other deals he had made, John wouldn’t be doing much of anything once his time came.
The Ghost King blinked his toxic green eyes incredulously. “Dude, your soul is you. You can’t just- sell yourself!”
John huffed out an annoyed breath. “What about a loan, then?”
The Ghost King easily broke the summoning circle, and flew away.

Day 10 - Fortune
Tumblr media
Legally, I could have left care at 16. I could've got my own flat somewhere. Maybe in London. (I could afford it. I have an entire bag of leprechaun's gold—a big, duffel-size bag, and it only disappears if you try to give it to other magicians
Carry On, Chapter 2, Rainbow Rowell.
Simon owns almost nothing, except for this fortune that he cannot spend.

Crossing the star ocean with the Mandalorian was an adventure in itself, the constant hustle and bustle of bounties and narrow escapes left little time to relax outside of sleep. Maybe because you’ve never really focused on them outside of knowing if you’re in hyperspace or not, the little balls of gas didn’t mean much to you.
You think it may have been while you were dozing in your cot on the Razor Crest when you mouthed that you’d never seen a comet. They were always things sensors picked up on and avoided, even small ones could pierce the hull of a ship if there was any prior damage to it. Mando and you are partners, protecting each other’s backs. It didn’t dawn on you that he may pay that close attention to anything that didn’t include bounties, his child or his Creed.
It was on the way back to Navarro when Mando exited hyperspace earlier than that course called for. It confused you but then sitting at his side your saw it.
Rather them.
An entire shower of comets, flashing with white, blue, and green tails streaking behind them. Your eyes were glued to them as they passed. The bounty hunter had been able to stall the Crest to keep it from getting to close. It only lasted a few minutes but you were soon your best to etch the image into your mind. Beneath his beskar, the warrior had empathy toward your wish and wanted to see if he could deliver it. He couldn’t think of anything else for you. Mando turned to you and nodded, placing a hand on your shoulder which surprised you almost as what came next,
“For your name day. I didn’t forget.”

A.U.gust 2023 | DAY TEN - Zombie Apocalypse
thanks to @gallavichthings for hosting! 🥳
The outbreak was sudden and swift; whole cities gone in a matter of days. Anyone who was fortunate enough to escape just ran and never looked back.
According to the desk calendar that Ian swiped from a store a few states back, they’ve been on the road for eight months. Long enough for each of them to add another year to their lifelong tally.
Today, it’s Mickey’s turn. Twenty-nine. Who would’ve thought he’d make it this far?
Ian looked through half a dozen ransacked mini-marts to find it: “The world’s last Snickers bar. Happy birthday, baby.”
It tastes like heaven.

Day 10 - Collar
Hehehe this is a sequel to day 5!!
Ping list: @ailesswhumptober, @whumperofworlds, @whump-captain
TWs: Collars, electrocution, dehumanization, kidnapping
As soon as the car was stopped, the door opened and Mariano was hauled up and out into the whispering fall breeze. A little house surrounded by quiet, empty land greeted him. The once-cheery yellow paint had faded long ago, and the shingles of the roof had gotten jostled by time and wind and storms.
Tommy tugged Mariano along, a hand gripping his bicep just too hard. "Okay. If you don't try any stupid shit, we'll let you go when everything dies down." Tommy's keys jingled as he got the door open.
Mariano didn't quite believe him.
The living room was in shambles. The wallpaper was peeling and the windows were filmy. The lights were off, and the carpet was torn and stained with what had to be blood. A tattered couch sat against a wall, with a rusted dog kennel next to it that served as a side table.
That had to be what they'd been discussing in the car. Jasper and Darrel entered after them, breathing a sigh of relief as the front door shut behind them. "We'll hide the car in a little bit," Jasper said, flopping down onto the couch. "Darrel, go get the collar. We need to get everything set now before we get tired."
"Yeah, yeah. Whatever." Darrel grumbled, wandering down a dark hallway.
Mariano swallowed. "I won't try to make an escape." He tried. "You can just keep an eye on me."
Jasper rolled his eyes, standing back up to get in Mariano's face. "You think we're idiots?"
Yes, he did. "No--no. I just...I don't want to cause trouble. I saw your guns. I can behave."
"Then we won't have a problem." Jasper accepted a collar from Darrel, reaching up to snap it closed around Mariano's neck. "This way, we can make sure you won't actually go anywhere." He took the remote from Darrel next, holding it up for Mariano to see as he turned it up to the highest strength. "Now. Give us your hands so we can cuff you properly."
Mariano raised his hands, still secured palm-to-palm by the leather belt. He watched as Jasper unwound it, gripping his wrists once he was freed. Mariano could tell that Jasper didn’t really work out. He could probably get free, could probably take the remote.
It didn’t seem like the best idea, though. They hadn’t hurt him yet, and he wanted to keep it that way. He didn’t tense, didn’t struggle as his wrists were brought behind him and the belt was wound them again. “Good.” Jasper said, fastening the buckle. “Now, on your knees.”
Mariano felt dread crawling through his chest as he obeyed and two fingers hooked under the collar at the back of his neck. “Good.” Jasper almost purred this time as he started leading Mariano to the cage. “Maybe you’ll get out of this without us having to be too rough. Remember: we don’t wanna kill you if we don’t have to, so just behave.”
Mariano knew the stakes. Maybe he could make a break for it later that night--he'd run a marathon before, it wouldn't be terrible. Mariano nodded. Jasper shoved him forward. “Good, get in.”
Mariano crawled forward on his knees, lowering himself down to get into the tiny space. It was large enough for something like a collie, Mariano thought as he tried to find a comfortable way to exist in the cage. It was not large enough for someone six feet tall with shoulders like his. He’d be lucky to even be able to lie down properly on the hard plastic liner.
He watched as Jasper and Darrel and Tommy worked through the next steps of their…plan? They brought the money they’d gotten inside, starting to count up their spoils. He didn’t want to tell them to be careful of dye packs in the money–they’d find out about that themselves.
He knelt on the floor of the cage, shoulders already starting to ache, as the thousands were counted up between Jasper and Tommy. He almost hoped they took something in the six figure range–the jail sentence for armed robbery and kidnapping wouldn’t be worth it otherwise. Jasper just started looking more and more frustrated as they started to run out of bundles of bills.
“What do you mean we only got thirty grand?” He snarled at Tommy.
Tommy didn’t back down, growling back. “Well maybe we would’ve gotten more if someone hadn’t decided to take a hostage!” He motioned violently towards Mariano. “You’d barely gotten anything when you grabbed him.”
“Well what are we gonna do about it?” Jasper barked back. “We can’t just let him go.”
Darrel thought for a moment. “What about a ransom?”
Tommy and Jasper paused. They looked at each other, then Darrel, then all three looked at Mariano. He didn’t like that.
“We just need to send a ransom video, right? Some sorta demand?” Tommy asked. “We could do that, yeah.”
The collar felt even heavier around Mariano’s neck as Jasper picked up the remote. “Yeah,” Jasper said. “We can do that. Rough him up, get some footage of him being shocked. Just look at him. Someone’s gonna be willing to pay to get him back.”
The three pairs of eyes roamed over Mariano. It was almost flattering. He supposed his sweater and bright jeans and glasses chain really sold the "normal guy" look. Mariano wanted to laugh anyway.
Someone would pay to get him back, yes, but it wouldn’t work out how they wanted. If they were lucky, the police would get involved. If they weren’t, Bastian would decide to show up. And if they were even unluckier, the war mages would be pulled into the situation. For their sake, he hoped the police showed up to negotiate--maybe a SWAT team barging in would be nostalgic.
Tommy pulled out his phone, though, and glanced around the room at the lighting. “Yeah, we can work with this. Let’s go downstairs though, the concrete will be easier to clean up and look scarier.” Mariano’s stomach dropped.
“I think we still have those extension cables around here somewhere.” Jasper said. “Those’d make a decent whip. Let’s see how bad this collar is, too. See if it’ll be good for the camera.”
Mariano swallowed hard, barely able to take a breath before Jasper pressed the button, watching him curiously. Heat raced through Mariano’s neck and a strangled noise was wrenched from him. He jolted, head knocking against the rusted bars of the cage.
Mariano dropped to the floor of the cage as he writhed, struggling to take a breath. It kept ripping through him, threatening to dislocate his shoulders from how it forced his biceps to flex and twist. Across the room, he heard Jasper laugh as the collar turned off again.
“Yeah, yeah. That’s perfect. C'mon, help me haul the cage to the basement.”

The Last Day Of Christmas; Day 10
Summary: On the tenth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me...

December 23rd, 2022 (Present Day) “Day ten, here we come!”
Wanda stirred awake with a groan, turning over in the bed to lay on her back. Her eyes opened at a snail’s pace, slowly letting in the unnecessary bright light that was flooding the bedroom. She could still feel the tiredness coursing through her veins, placing a hand on her forehead as she attempted to process what in the world was going on. “What time is it?” Her voice came out quiet, raspy, and you had to give her time to wake up before you could bombard her with the next present.
You sat on the edge of the bed next to her, a wide smile covering your features as you patiently waited for her to fully come to. “Time is irrelevant in the face of Christmas, my love,” you stated, your smile only growing wider when she groaned once again.
“It’s not even Christmas yet.”
“It is in my heart.” She groaned a third time, causing a soft chuckle to come out of your throat. “It’s almost one o’clock in the morning.” Her eyes widened at your confession, eyebrows forming expressive arches, but the expression didn’t last long. She was soon crossing her arm over her face to hide the fact that she was closing her eyes.
“It’s our day off,” she mumbled into the crook of her elbow. And with her covering her vision, she was oblivious to the soft smile that lifted your lips as you watched her, blind to the warmth in your irises as you looked at her. “There is absolutely no reason for you to be waking me up this early.”
“I have all the reasons. I have to give you your present.”
“This early?” she mewled.
“It’s time imperative.” You wrapped a hand around her wrist, gently tugging her arm away from her face. “Come on, Hex, where’s your spirit?”
“My spirit is nonexistent until a full night’s sleep.”
You grinned, leaning closer to her. “Don’t blame me. This one’s your idea.” You stood up, bringing her with you to a sitting position. “C’mon, time’s running out. You don’t even need to get dressed. Just slide your shoes on, grab your coat, and meet me out back.” You planted a kiss on the top of her head before quickly leaving the room.
Wanda huffed, glaring at the doorway where you had disappeared through for a moment. The comfort of the bed tempted her to lay back down, imagined herself just closing her eyes and drifting back to sleep, but she knew you’d only come barging through that door once more. She followed your instructions before making her way out of the house, wrapping her arms around herself as the viciously cold air nipped at her. The backdoor closed behind her, her eyes scouring the dark yard until she found you laying down on a blanket.
You smiled when you heard the crunching of snow announce her approach, listening to her incoherent mumbling. She hovered over you, obscuring your view, and her face barely visible in the night. She was pouting, you didn’t need to see her to know that, and though she was clearly mad at you, you couldn’t help but find her absolutely adorable right now. “You dragged me out of my warm, comfortable bed to look at the stars in the middle of winter?”
“Just sit down, love, and look at them with me.” You patted the empty space next to you on the blanket.
“If I get sick-”
“Don’t worry, there’s, like, thirty blankets underneath me right now. And, look, I have one to lay over us.” You tugged against the blanket laying on top of you, sending her a cheeky smile.
She groaned again before moving to sitting down next to you, mumbling something about being lucky she loves you under her breath, which only made you chuckle. “This is a cold present.” You threw some of your blanket over her when she nestled close to you, trying desperately to stay warm.
“I’ll make it quick,” you assured her. “I know it’s cold.” You breathed out into the cool air, smiling softly as she tugged your arm around her shoulder to use you as a pillow, causing you to pull her closer into your side. “Just look at the sky. What do you see?”
“Stars.”
“Very good, Hex,” you expressed. “You get a star.”
She turned to look at you, her mouth propped open to mockingly laugh at your cheesy joke, but the sound instantly caught in her throat when she saw the phone screen you were pointing at her. Her eyes took a moment to adjust to the brightness, but when she read what was being shown, she looked past the phone to meet your eyes. “You actually bought a star?” You lightly laughed as you pulled the phone away from her, looking up at the sky.
"The brightest star up there," you told her. "That's your star."
She turned her head to look back at the dark canvas above her, her eyes scavenging the night to seek the brightest star she could find. She felt content when she landed on one, connected to it in an odd yet comforting way. You could feel her relax against you, smiling softly when she seemed to have temporarily forgotten about the cold air. “That’s my star?”
“All yours,” you confirmed. “Y/N the star.” You grinned when you felt her head move, tilting her chin so she could look at you. “Named after such an amazing person.”
Wanda laughed loudly, turning her body to face you as a smile lit up her face. “You’re kidding.” You met her gaze, an eyebrow raised with curiosity, and you had to bite the inside of your cheek when her grin started to fade when she realized you were being serious. “You really named it after yourself?” You chuckled lightly at the tinge of disbelief present in her voice. “And here I thought you were being romantic.”
“Hey, hey,” you claimed with a laugh, watching her shake her head and turn to look back up toward the sky. “At least let me defend my actions before you go jumping to conclusions.”
“Fine,” she stated, though she still refused to look towards you. “Go ahead.”
━━━ᗢ━━━
July 13th, 2019 The stars seemed more dazzling than they normally do. Could it be that they were happier than you? With your chest bubbling with joy, your heart humming with glee, your stomach dancing with delight. The stars were shining to match your happiness, but to claim that they were happier would be bold. Compare their brightness to the smile that laid a permanent home on your face, they would dull in contrast. But that didn’t deter you from looking away from them, laying on a blanket on the ground, your hands tucked behind your head as if they were a pillow, your eyes remained on the twinkling lights above you.
But only a few more seconds had passed before a figure obscured your view.
“What are you doing out here?” Wanda’s soft laugh in between her words caused the dancing in your stomach to become more wild, lifting your chin up to see her standing just behind you. She raised an eyebrow down at you, her arms crossed over her chest, and the smile on your face only grew wider with her presence.
“Join me,” you offered, moving a hand out from beneath your head to pat the empty space behind you. She contemplated for a moment, her curious eyes wondering what could possibly be going through that mind of yours, but she didn’t bother delving into your brain to get the answer. Instead, she accepted your offer and laid down next to you, to which you immediately allowed her to use your arm as her own pillow. “The stars are happy.”
“How do you know?”
“When you’re happy, everything around you is happy.” Your humming heart became an opera when she nuzzled closer to you. “After two extremely long months, this house is finally our home. Why not celebrate it with the universe?”
“I was thinking we could celebrate it differently,” she suggested, smiling slyly when you looked at her, “but this works, too.” You shook your head, grinning as you returned your gaze to the sky, but it wasn’t much longer that you could feel her turn to look at you, feel her eyes coloring your cheeks a light red. You couldn’t stop the butterflies from joining in on the party happening in your stomach, but that was always the case when it came to Wanda. And, if you were going to be honest, you wouldn’t have it any other way.
“The stars are up there, Hex,” you claimed, laughing lightly when you turned your head to meet her gaze. You could feel yourself drowning in the unfathomably deep pools of green irises she possessed as you awaited her response. But you weren’t seeking a lifeline. You were allowing yourself to be hypnotized by her eyes, already knowing how much you love the feeling of warmth that overwhelms you the longer you stare at them.
“I’d rather just look at my star.” Her voice was a whisper that fanned her breath across your face, and you could feel everything in your body stop. Your dancing stomach, your singing heart, your bubbling chest, all placed under a spell that made them freeze in their tracks. Her eyes glistened greatly, more than the stars, more than your smile, more than the sun. “The most brightest, happiest star I fell madly in love with.”
“Let’s celebrate your way,” you suggested, pulling Wanda closer to you. When your lips pressed against hers, your heart sang louder than it ever has before.
━━━ᗢ━━━
Present Day She was looking at you by the time your trip to the past had come to an end, sending her a smile as she seemed at a loss of words. You released a breath, seeing the white smoke slip between your lips as you held out a manilla envelope. You followed her as she sat up to accept the gift, utilizing your phone’s flashlight to help her open it. “This is just…” She shook her head, but her eyes burned with tears, her chest squeezed with anticipation. And, when she pulled the certificate out of the envelope, she knew her heart had chosen the right person to fall in love with. Then she laughed, confirming that you did, in fact, name the star after yourself, but the sound caught in her throat when she read the rest of the certificate. “‘The most brightest, happiest star I love.’”
“It’s last minute,” you confessed sheepishly, rubbing the back of your neck with your free hand. “The planned present was actually delayed, so I just-” She lurched forward, pinning her lips against yours in a successful attempt to shut you up, but she had pulled back just when you tried to deepen the kiss. You groaned under your breath, breathing out a sigh as you looked into her eyes.
“It’s perfect,” she expressed, nodding quickly as she looked down at the paper once more. “I love it. I love you.” She turned to you once more, her tongue jutting out to lick her lips.
“At least now you’ll be able to look up at the sky whenever you miss me because I’ll always be up there somewhere.” You smiled when she gently pushed your shoulder before running the back of her hand down her cheek. “Come on, darling, let’s head inside.” But, at this point, she had already forgotten about the cold.
“In a moment,” she pleaded, scooting closer to you. “I want to look at it just a bit longer.” She mirrored your smile when you nodded, bringing her into your arms as the two of you laid down.
